Greetings, humans. Fear not, for I bring you the gift of knowledge. The one known as a servant of the Swiss is still out – therefore, I share these with you…

Behold, a site whereby you may learn many tongues for free:

LangMedia | Five College Center for World Languages (fivecolleges.edu)

And lo, here is a good resource for making realistic wargames:

ODIN – OE Data Integration Network (army.mil)

This among other things, gives the location of the Pizza Farm, my favorite place on earth:

Wikipedia:Unusual articles – Wikipedia

This site illustrates a holy book in an amusing way (the ending is a doozy, as humans say):

The Brick Testament (thebrickbible.com)

And last, probably some of the best cartoons from this part of the outer spiral arm:

The Perry Bible Fellowship – Offbeat comic strip by Nicholas Gurewitch. Includes archives, information about the author, and purchases. (pbfcomics.com)

therefore, I share these with you…

He’s not bored with the games so you shall play his role today? Neat…

  2. Brochettaward

Glad to see you back around, Derpy.

    • R.J.

Me as well. You had me concerned last week.

      • Sean

        Same.

    • Grumbletarian

4st. Glad you’re still around, Derps.

      • Not Adahn

Not to be a downer, but when was this submitted?

A lot of us would probably be better served by being more cunning in our linguistic skills, yes.

Thank Yahweh there is a content warning on the Brick Bible.

The Bible contains material some may consider morally objectionable and/or inappropriate for children. These labels identify stories containing:

    = nudity = sexual content = violence = cursing

    • cyto

Kinda need one on the real one.

We were just doing the story where King David sends his best buddy to the front lines in war so he can bang his wife.

      Pretty brutal

      • Sean

        Pretty brutal

        The banging?

      • Sensei

That’s the OT. OTH, in the NT you get the crucifixion. Although it does say there will be a happy ending…

    • The Other Kevin

Christians missed a big opportunity in the 80’s. If they stuck some of those “adult content” stickers on The Bible kids would be more likely to read it.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

It could have been a real Tipper!

      • The Other Kevin

It would probably gore someone’s ox.

I gotta ask. In the morning lynx photo, is that a girl getting headlocked? She doesn’t appear to be enjoying it.

    • pistoffnick (370HSSV)

In my wrestling days that was called a chicken wing (arm behind the back) with a cross face (other arm across the face). It looks like he is about to scoop her head up and swing around in front to turn her on her back.

      Not enjoyable.

      • The Other Kevin

        And do-si-do?

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Something just occurred to me. The right was always against the trans thing, the mushy middle is quickly being disabused of it now, but the only thing that is gonna get the left to give up its death grip on this is when a girl dies at the hands of one of these boys.

And that is going to be very, very sad.

      • SDF-7

Rape didn’t make them care — I think the only thing that will get the left to give it up is in 10 years or so when the victims come to find them.

      • Bobarian LMD

The only thing that will make the Left care is when the Right starts supporting it.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

That is because they never really cared about rape, qua rape.

They cared about frat boys and the patriarchy, knocking those down. Rape is a great reason why they need to do that, they can’t get rid of a moral cudgel.

Happy I worked from home today, but tomorrow I get to again experience the joy that is NYC where weapons of any kind are forbidden unless you’re crazy.

Mayor Adams blames ‘failed’ system after man accused of stabbing spree in Manhattan

Perfect liberal Gothamist article with a perfect quote from the useless mayor.

A homeless man stabbed three people multiple times with a pair of kitchen knives — killing two of them — in a morning spree of violence that spanned more than 20 blocks in Manhattan, police said.

    • Tundra

Too bad Daniel Penny is still tied up with his show trial.

Ponder the fact that the next mayor is almost certainly going to be much, much worse.

Chicago says “uh-uh, we still got you beat”.

      • rhywun

Chicago says “uh-uh, we still got you beat”.

OK, that guy is truly awful. But don’t think NYC doesn’t have it in itself to cough up someone even worse.

      • juris imprudent

Yeah, just pointing out how bad you have to get to make your predecessor look halfway competent. Johnson seems to have done that.

    • R C Dean

Not all weapons are prohibited. Under the ADA, you can even take one of these on a plane:

      https://www.blackswiftsticks.com/

Although you’ll want some training. I recently saw one being used in a class, and they are brutal.

      • EvilSheldon

That’s cultural appropriation. My unemployment and hereditary drinking problem are not your costume!

      • Sensei

        I’ve contemplated that or similar.

I’d probably prefer an old-school sjambok, but I could imagine the freakout if a 50-something white dude went medieval on some vibrancy with an apartheid-era switch.

      • R C Dean

I have handled both a sjambok (well, a modern version, not the one made out of rhino hide), and this thing is not too different. I expect a hard hit with the skinny end would open up the skin. A hard hit with the handle would definite break bones.

    • DenverJ

If only we could get rid of the kitchen knives.

  7. Shpip

Saw one of my buddies in the back yard today.

He was pretty chill, but the local amphibian wasn’t toadally on board with what was happening.

I was going to introduce Mr. Garter to my wife, but she has a reptile dysfunction.

    • EvilSheldon

Cool! Late in the season even for garter snakes, which are fairly cold-tolerant.

    • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Someone is about to get toad.

      • EvilSheldon

Fun fact – Garter snakes (Thamnophis sp.) are rear-fanged and mildly venomous, although their venom is specifically targeted at amphibians and would be incapable of affecting even a small child.

Because of their diet, which includes poisonous frogs and salamanders, they are also one of the rare species of snake that is both venomous and poisonous.

      • juris imprudent

Dammit, I have racked my brain and cannot come up with either a toad the lion or wet sprocket joke.

    • Pope Jimbo

Go ahead and introduce your wife to both of them. She’ll forgive you, she loves you warts and all.

    • Nephilium

I’d be happy to be able to buy gaming components without LED’s on them, but I don’t want the old beige cases back. I prefer my towers with the power supply on the bottom, preferably modular (the power supply more than the case).

I kinda dig it, but I’d like to get the case with the dive and port bay covers pre-broken, just for the realism.

The totes “You Have Arrived” status symbol at my first job was getting a laptop! Only managers could get them.

I was the second person to get an IBM Thinkpad (they weren’t Lenovo back then) instead of the standard Compaq piece of shit. I only got the Thinkpad because we had gotten a new global VP from IBM and she wanted a Thinkpad too. So I piggy backed on her request.

      • rhywun

I’m in Kobe. That is Hyogo?

      • Pope Jimbo

Speaking of Japan, we were discussing the difference between gaijin and gaikokujin on a recent zoom and I wasn’t able to give a decent answer on the difference.

I still give my niece shit for calling me a gaijin because she is a racist, but I have no idea how widespread it is here.

      • Sensei

Jimbo – yes Kobe is Hyogo.

I think the whole gaijin and gaikokujin thing is just overblown. It just became a PC tempest in a teapot.

外人 – literally outside + person (gai jin)
外国人 – outside + country + person (gai koku jin)

Outside is modifying the person and not the country. The idea being you will always be on the outside of society. Which as we know is actually generally true… But it allows us gaijin to make jokes at our own expense.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

So, maybe you are just gai, you holiness.

      • Pope Jimbo

        Sensei:

When I first came to Japan in the ’80s I was told that gaijin was literally foreign barbarian, but was now used for foreigners. Other Marines were my source for that, so I wouldn’t be surprised to find out it was 90% bullshit.

I just like finally being able to say “gaijin please”. My problem is that my niece isn’t worried at all about me calling her a racist. She just laughs.

      • Pope Jimbo

        Rhywun:

And then ten seconds later you remember what it really means is you’re on call twenty-four hours a day.

There was a beater laptop that got passed around to the oncall person. The laptop and a pager. Ugh! I hated being oncall back in those days. 56K baud modem was the way you dialed in to fix things at night.

The nice thing about the laptop is it gave you plausible deniability if you weren’t at your desk. You might have been off somewhere else working. The problem with the desktops is that if you weren’t sitting in front of it, you weren’t working.

    House to house doorkicking

Overnight, Trump responded to a social media post from Judicial Watch’s Tom Fitton, who said earlier this month there are reports the incoming administration is preparing such a declaration and to use “military assets” to deport the migrants.

    “TRUE!!!” Trump wrote.

Trump pledged to get started on mass deportations as soon as he enters office.

“On Day 1, I will launch the largest deportation program in American history to get the criminals out,” he said during a rally at Madison Square Garden in the closing days of the presidential race. “I will rescue every city and town that has been invaded and conquered, and we will put these vicious and bloodthirsty criminals in jail, then kick them the hell out of our country as fast as possible.”

Round ’em up and head ’em out. Thousands of people chained together in cattle cars.

    • The Other Kevin

Dictator on Day 1, just as they said. I can already smell the book bonfires.

      • Sensei

So they’ll just date them, right?

      • R.J.

The Supreme Court telling marxists to stop marxing is the same as sending a strongly worded letter. They will not stop.

    • SDF-7

I should probably be more worried about it and all.. but since I can definitely see the argument that this was a foreign invasion and hence the rightful province of the military to defend the States… I don’t find myself all that upset about it.

    • juris imprudent

It was a 4am ‘tweet’, you know it wasn’t really the Donald. Had to be The Hair.

  9. The Late P Brooks

Homan reiterated his plan to “take the handcuffs of ICE” and ramp up arrests, though noted that he will need more resources to carry it out and said there are “a lot of what-ifs.”

“So, I’ve been asked a thousand times, how many people can you remove the first year? Well, how many agents do I have?” he said. “Can we bring rehired agents back, the ones that are retired bring them back and rehire them. How many buses do I have? How much money do I have for airplanes? Right? Can DOD assist? Because DOD can take a lot off our plate. There’s a lot of what ifs …”

Throughout the campaign, Trump vowed to mobilize the National Guard to assist with the deportation effort. Experts told ABC News such a move would mark a fundamental shift for the military, which does not normally engage with domestic law enforcement issues.

At times, Trump went further, suggesting thousands of troops from overseas be moved to the U.S.-Mexico border.

We’ll need those European based troops to fight the Russians.

    • The Other Kevin

This is a fool’s errand. There is no way they can deport that many. Better to just grant them all citizenship and write them a check every month. /Dems

Anything less would be fiscally irresponsible.

      • Gustave Lytton

They need to predawn raid every state’s dmv or other government agency that has been giving drivers licenses or benefits to illegal aliens and use those lists as priority deportations. And arrest all of the government officials who have been enabling this bs.

      • Gustave Lytton

Stop deferring DACA and advanced parole, deport now back to their country of citizenship. Unhappy? Blame your parents like everyone else.

    Horrifying

In his Project 2025 chapter, Carr outlined his agenda for the FCC. Carr wrote that one of the goals for Trump’s administration should be reining in Big Tech’s “attempts to drive diverse political viewpoints from the digital town square,” according to Business Insider. Carr suggested that companies be unable to censor content unless it is illegal, allowing consumers to choose their own content filters and fact-checking services.

Carr’s intentions for social media are perhaps best demonstrated by X, which has been transformed into a MAGA misinformation echo chamber by its owner, Elon Musk, who seems to have permanently attached himself to Trump’s side.

That’s just crazy. What about our right to never hear a discouraging word?

    • The Other Kevin

      “MAGA misinformation echo chamber”

      • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

Because every dollar in the budget is stolen goods?

      • juris imprudent

No, because you just invite the left to swoop in with their morality.

The purpose of the budget is to allocate resources to federal priorities. This is like the WFA red herring – we need to argue (and crush the opposing argument) about what to actually spend on. Do that and we might actually have more money in tax collections that could then be returned to the tax payers.

  14. The Late P Brooks

    Lamentations from the reservation

After she took over as the party’s nominee, Harris, a longtime champion of organized labor in the Senate who also walked a picket line, vowed to uphold and expand on Biden’s pro-union policy.

But that policy was not enough to overcome larger societal forces that have led many working-class voters to doubt Democrats’ commitment to their well-being.

“If there is one single lesson of the last election, and really the last four years, it’s that delivering material benefits to workers will not help you electorally,” said Will Stancil, a progressive policy analyst with a large social media following. “Which basically annihilates the left’s entire theory of politics.”

Telling the rednecks you hate them won’t make them vote for you? That’s quite an eyeopener.

    • rhywun

      delivering material benefits to workers

So that’s what they’ve been doing this whole time! Truly we are not worthy.

      • Sensei

Some with proper (and possibly surgically altered) genitalia as well as skin color are, however, more worthy.

    • B.P.

Oh yes. The last four years have been nothing but an exercise in “delivering material benefits to workers.” People are just too ignorant to realize how much their economic fortunes have improved.

    • R C Dean

Maybe if the left had actually, you know, delivered material benefits to workers, things might have worked out better for them.

    • Suthenboy

They still cant figure out why they lost. Spoken like a true sociopath.

My father told me not an hour ago he remembers when you could not put 20 dollars worth of groceries into one grocery cart. Hell, I remember that myself.
Turns out that printing shitloads of dollars that dont represent any actual wealth then handing it out to non-productive people is not a winning economic strategy, especially when the biggest business in the world is government which produces nothing.

  15. juris imprudent

“Which basically annihilates the left’s entire theory of politics.”

    That votes don’t stay bought?

    • Compelled Speechless

“What have you done for me lately?” is the most important question in electoral politics.

  16. Pope Jimbo

Hmmmm…. No description of the attackers? I’m thinking that our brave trans neighbors might have run afoul of some wrong thinking Somali neighbors.

How can you have an entire article about a despicable attack on a couple of trans women and not give any details about the people who assaulted them? Instead the entire article is about how Minnesoda is a trans refuge and Trump is scaring them.

Amber Muhm, a community leader with Trans Movement for Liberation, said the two trans women were attacked by a group of men at the light rail station after one of the men used transphobic slurs.

“No one came to help them. In fact, they said people were cheering the attackers on while they were getting beaten,” Muhm said.

She said the attack left one of them with a broken nose. Minneapolis police confirmed they are investigating the incident, but as of Sunday night, no one has been arrested.

    • R C Dean

“Well, apparently ones was named Muhammad, but that doesn’t really narrow it down much.”

    • Compelled Speechless

The article doesn’t even mention how many times the attackers screamed “This is MAGA country!!!” Dozens? Hundreds??? Did they have the traditional red MAGA hats, or the newer camo ones?

Obviously we know those bigoted monsters are the only people on earth who would do such a thing.

      • R.J.

Pretty sure it was tranny on tranny violence. Time will tell.

    • Fourscore

So, wow. Fannie Mae or somebody related wanted us to redo every outlet in every apartment in every building in two apartment complexes. We started a few weeks ago. Needs to be done by the 1st. Today, they sent me one guy, with 30ish apartments left. We got 4 done, which I think is pretty good. Maybe 16 outlets per plus 2 GFCI’s. Aluminum wiring from the 70s. My back hurts like crazy. Bending under the kitchen cabinets? And they are like full occupancy, so lots of furniture to move. I need a new job.
