Now starts the only multi-episode story arc I’ve really attempted so far. The Hat drags The Hair along to find the Jersey Devil, because he believes that will win Donald the Election. And it looks like he may have been right! Donald did win! Bigly! I went through a through all the trouble of animating STEVE SMITH’s giant swaying cock only to blur it because I didn’t want youtube to ban me and because I thought it would funnier that way.

It was definitely funnier blurred out.
Seconded.
I respectfully request that before people use that word that they insert a trigger warning into their post.
Nice pixels!
So STEVE SMITH confirmed not Jewish.
He has a pulsating penis of pulchritude!
Huh, I guess I’m the only one getting a youtube frowny face instead of a video link.
DAMMIT! I have been blowing up the ded thread with all sorts of bon mots only to realize there is a new post!
Tell me you’re a boomer without saying telling me you’re a boomer.
That’s because you touch yourself at night.
Bon mots? Jimbo? Now that’s really funny
That is why I always scroll down to see the latest posting. There’s many a comment I’ve inadvertently deadthreaded.
Speaking of which, what’s your take on the South Korean political circus?
You should know better, you are just going to get a slanted view here
Careful. That’s a slippery slope you are on.
My folk told me “That was the shortest “martial law” ever” and many/most slept through it. Daily life remained the same, and the global embarrassment is far more important to ’em than anything else. They did talk about Yoon’s political suicide, though know (or care) of possible reasons why.
Curious what Pope and family think or know.
He’s in Japan now, so he might just nip that in the bud.
Bravo Zwack.
Buds? Sakura has come early this year.
It’s a chink in Yoon’s armour.
Block the element on the front page! I use ublock on librewolf, should work on firefox, I think brave has it built in:

Ahh…. nice. It’s easy to block in brave. Thanks!
There was some talk about reforming VA benefits, and any veteran who is honest will tell you its a big racket. I have always resisted getting in on it even though I’ve had VA doctors and counselors push me in that direction. They’ll tell you everyone, even the wealthy, are doing it so why not you? Some misguided sense of morality?
Someone linked to an Economist article that ended by saying the nation’s obsession with veterans has gone too far. This from the same outlet that would defend to its dying breath all the bullshit handouts given to illega…err, the undocumented. Or probably was all for covid payouts. Or any and all kinds of other handouts. I get to watch fraud take place on a near daily basis related to this shit and Medicaid which I would be told I don’t qualify for because I make too much money while Pedro who works off the books and claims ten dependents gets it.
In isolation, should veterans benefits be means tested? Sure. But that’s a tough pill to swallow for me given the above. Not to mention the sheer corruption in DC which they don’t even bother to hide anymore while their mouthpieces at sites like the Economist run cover for them. Joe Biden just pardoned his son for things he wasn’t even convicted for going back to 2014 and no one bats an eye on MSNBC or CNN.
I’m to the point where I’m questioning my own ethics here. It’s like playing the game of life with two hands tied behind your back while damn near everyone else loots the coffers in some way. We aren’t in a society that values honor or responsibility in anyway, shape or form. So why not get what you can from the broken system while it lasts?
And, oh yea…there wasn’t a single mention in the entire fucking article about the wars this country has fought (needlessly) for the better part of the last two decades post 9/11. Kind of an important detail when discussing the skyrocketing costs of VA benefits. I readily admit above there’s a lot of fraud and abuse of the system, but there’s also a lot more need now than there was in the 90’s, assholes. And politicians you champion (speaking of the Economist) and defend were responsible for creating that need.
But Juan and his ten kids? Schucks, put them up at the Hilton, feed them and given them a free phone and all kinds of other kick backs. Yea, fuck that.
Yeah me too.
Tinnitus is good for 10%, right? Got my buddy with me right now. Always there, best fried evah!
Which benefits are being suggested for mean testing? Healthcare enrollment*is already tiered with non-combat/non-disabled veterans being declined from enrolling. Disability payments? Injuries weren’t sustained on a means tested basis in the first place.
*personal beneficiary, sort-of of this. Enrolled before window closed with a great deal of reluctance** but also would count towards Obamacare mandate. Never used it.
**not a real veteran, and definitely not a real combat veteran
Exactly. If there’s one group of Americans I’ll tolerate grifting off the system, it’s the people who went off and fought this government’s shitty wars for it and suffered some injuries or came back fucked up in general.
That there are court eunuchs at the Economist who resent this just makes me laugh. These people are fundamentally un-serious. They support forever wars, and don’t want to reward the rubes who go off and fight and sometimes die in them.
And the icing on the fucking cake is that they support an administration that took us closer to WW3 than any managed to do during the entirety of the fucking Cold War.
For what it’s worth, I’m on Medicaid. I don’t struggle with *my* ethics, per se, as I feel a solid Poster Boy for someone who could certainly use a hand from the social safety net. (I’m gonna earn my above the threshold, but I just renewed for ‘25 in case of x happening.) Being within the system, I am privy to more of the inner workings of it. In my experience, nothing has been (too) wasteful. Plenty of folk in AA meetings etc who had to be there as part of parole or whatever and didn’t want to be there, but meh.
My issue resides in despising that a (IMO) proper Safety Net has engorged into a cozy, generational comforter. With folk at work and elsewhere, some of it is intensely sad. It’s a cultural issue The State –perhaps not created– but fostered and furthers, dependency on The State providing, and deciding, much of the room & board.
Hrm. Me no likey. In many ways.
Go to the ghetto or down south where the undocumented are.
I don’t see the UHC hit as a claims denial or treatment rejection. That’s a child or love of your life died horribly and unnecessarily. Or someone laid off and their life spiraled out of control. Someone who lost everything and wants an eye for and eye, and blamed the deceased personally for it.
Another seal broken. Far too many people in power are cavalier to the consequences of their actions, and personally immune including to shame. Noblesse without the oblige.
It’s also funny to see this after years of CEOs claiming security as reasons for flying on private corporate aircraft or the company paying for their ADT*, when the biggest threat was they might be inconvenienced by some shareholder or ex-employee or angry customer button holing them.
*JR Simplot would chat with the smokers outside his office including challenging them to quit and let kids sled on the front lawn** when it snowed.
**no fence along the street
Given the levels of corruption and greed we see from those at the top, it’s amazing it doesn’t happen more often. But most people are too comfortable and accept the system as is because of it.
Corpsefucked the wrong thread
Drove by a high school in a smaller town/outer suburb of a more conservative town. Crossing guards at the intersections. In the middle of the day. No students, so these cross guards would escort any pedestrian crossers. Ridiculous.
No idea if they’re still volunteers or paid staff (which they’d undoubtedly end up as eventually).
I wonder which will triumph? Enshitification or enpussification?
The local crossing guards will escort adult pedestrians. I mess with them by crossing against the light.
Wakey, wakey! Get up and get at it.

Good morning, Sean, ChipP, Ted’S., and U!
Morning.
How did the gig go?
It went fine, thanks! Everybody enjoyed it, and TT said he had fun even if he wasn’t satisfied with his guitar playing. Plus we got home and got the gear unloaded just before some nasty cold wind and snow squalls came through!
How are you doing?
Upper management at work is getting testy about people not having downgraded to Windows 11.
I don’t want to, because it takes me so long to turn off garbage that shouldn’t have been shipped.
I’m guessing they only care because they paid for it?

Aaand it’s gone…good lord, if you’re going to run that kind of grift don’t do it on social media.
He seems in on the “gag.” Entirely aware of what she’s doing on social media and she’s doing it with him present. The old fuck may be self-aware or she’s convinced him she’s just kidding on social media and playing into the stereotype for laughs.
I was very disappointed that Hugh Hefner cut the last woman willing to fuck him out of the will. Very caddish.
What’s she *really* trying to promote herself for?
We actually had accumulating snow here. 🙁
Here it’s on things that are not pavement. (not sure about roof accumulation, I merely peeked outside)
People at work yesterday were going “the forecast is two to fourteen inches”. Actuall accumulation was negligable. The heaviest it got was on my windshield which had a drift of an inch on it. But there was no bed of ice, so the wipers tossed it aside.
They were talking about the STEVE SMITH forecast!
We are still nigh-tropical. The temperature is fighting back up to almost 70 daily, and 40s at night.
Snowing now. More this week than all of last year. 😀
So…not sure what’s up, but the “Hat and Hair” tag on this post won’t lead to the new post from last week. I had to dig through “older posts” from one of the sets of posts on the front page till I could find last week’s video.
Morning. Chilly. 15 with a windchill down to 5 deg. Some patches of ice on the edges of roads coming into work, but not too bad. No one salted the parking lot though, so that was fun.
What’s the point of allowing a lame duck officeholder to act? All terms should end the day before election day, and no official action can be taken until new officeholders are sworn in. This should apply to all government offices save for the most basic functions of arresting criminals and fighting a shooting war.
Mornin’
There’s not much snow here in my part of southern NH. Which is good.
Morning.
