The Hat and The Hair Animated: Rerun ep 41

by | Dec 11, 2024 | Hat and Hair | 85 comments

For those of you have seen it on the Zoom or in person, during the Shutdown I made a Hat for myself out of a UW Madison hat. Complete with googlie eyes and a felt tongue. I thought the strange surrealness of The Hair meeting this false Hat fit into this cryptid narrative.

    Excellent. I remember this one.

You don’t want A Rog back.

    • R C Dean

      You prefer J Love?

      • Tundra

I prefer them to lose every game. But yes, I think Love is fine.

  2. ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

    Heh. ‘Sconie.

    • Muzzled Woodchipper

Can I call him that? Or, since I’m not one myself, would I be violating his human rights if I did?

      • Tundra

It’s fine. He’ll just drown his sorrows in Brandy Manhattans.

      • Pope Jimbo

        I like brandy Manhattans.

Still don’t understand why the Sconnies love their brandy so much.

  3. rhywun

I think I missed this one and the previous one first time ’round.

You don’t want A Rog back.

    Ha.

    • Tundra

I know it’s painful, but there is something so amazing about a team coming apart.

And as a Vikings fan, I have a lot of experience.

      • rhywun

As a Bills fan, I’m sure we’ll get there again.

      • Tundra

Probably, but I’ve been watching some games. Josh is a stupidly good QB. It’s a good team.

      • rhywun

I hope he gets best QB or whatever they call that someday.

But the loss to the Rams hurt.

/watching the Sabres stink it up again. Can they make it 8 losses in a row?

      • rhywun

Can they make it 8 losses in a row?

        Ans. Yes, yes they can.

      • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

I can’t watch the Sabres. There is some limit to my masochism.

  4. The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

Nice hat. Do you wear it out and about?

    • Mojeaux

Thank you for the nice things you said on my post Friday.

      • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

        It was well deserved.

  5. The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

It’s interesting to see real live young women in person. Beauty is ephemeral, but boy is it powerful.

    • Tundra

      ?

      • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

On a business trip, and I simply don’t get out much, anymore more.

        Ah, I figured strip club.

        But I totally understand.

      • Fourscore

This morning I saw “The Women of the Dental Clinic” live. Needed an appointment and I was there before 8 AM. The ladies took some personal pictures, I had to pay to see them but black and white.

I’m not going back there for awhile, took a real bite out of my wallet.

      • rhywun

LOL I had a similar experience last week. Told the nice gal I don’t wanna see the pics. I still had to pay 🙁

      • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

        @tundra

I don’t do strip clubs. They seem depressing.

      • Tundra

        Lack:

Especially when you know a chick or two that does it.

    • slumbrew

Those of us who live in college towns know what you mean.

Halter Top Day is a ways off, but it’s coming…

      • rhywun

lol I don’t think my college town can compete with the likes of anything in a sunnier clime.

      • Rat on a train

Fredericksburg is technically a college town, but UMW doesn’t have the same draw.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Yes, growing up in a college town in CA surf territory was quite the… engorging life.

      • Rat on a train

Huntington Beach isn’t a college town but I spent a lot of time there enjoying the view.

      • Muzzled Woodchipper

College towns in the south rule them all.

    I like it.

    https://apnews.com/article/nlrb-labor-board-manchin-sinema-5e6dea85b147b4f53da000cef813b996

Senate Democrats failed Wednesday to confirm a Democratic member of the National Labor Relations Board after independent Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema opposed the nomination, thwarting their hopes of locking in a majority at the federal agency for the first two years of President-elect Donald Trump’s term.

A vote to move ahead with the nomination of Lauren McFarren, who currently chairs the NLRB, failed 49-50. Had she been confirmed to another five-year term, it would have cemented a Democratic majority on the agency’s board for the first two years of the incoming Trump administration. Now, Trump will likely be able to nominate McFarren’s replacement.

These two prevented some of the worst impulses from the left being implemented.

    • rhywun

Another “independent agency” wielding power checked by… whom?

    • Rat on a train

We’re all going to die again when net neutrality is repealed, aren’t we?

    • The Artist Formerly Known as Lackadaisical

I thought the Senate was 50-50 split. How did two senators defecting result in a vote of 49-50?

      • R.J.

        McConnell fall down, go boom.

    • slumbrew

She’s been a pleasant surprise. I was really expecting her to be a Squad-level tard.

  8. Rat on a train

The Electoral College vote is Tuesday. Why am I not hearing more about electors saving Democracy?

  9. slumbrew

America Fiction just started. I think my next two hours are now booked.

  10. The Hyperbole

TW: boring story with nothing for you to get outraged about

I was at my regular watering hole where on Wednesdays they have a singer/strummer dude playing all the regrettable standards (Amiee, Margaritaville, etc) but to this weeks dudes credit he was a fair singer and an good picker. As I was getting ready to leave someone requested he do ‘Joe Cocker’, not any particular song just ‘Joe Cocker’. He did a decent version of “Feelin’ Alright” and as these dude’s do said “there’s a little Joe Cocker for you” after the song , at this point I was walking out and tossing a fiver into his tip jar and, pedant that I am, said to him “ackshually that’s a Traffic song written by Dave Mason” He looked genuinely surprised, “I didn’t know that.” He Said “I guess I’ll have to do ‘She came in through the bathroom window'”. Now I don’t know if he was fucking with me and letting me he know that he knew it wasn’t Joe Cocker original but the crowd thinks it is or if he also didn’t know that the other song is a Beatles song. He’s late twenty-ish early thirty’s so it could go either way.

    • Mojeaux

So, he interpreted the request as “Play anything but sing in the style of Joe Cocker”?

      • The Hyperbole

Joe Cocker’s version of Feelin’ alright is better known than Traffic’s, but he (joe cocker) didn’t really change the song, and this guy (the bar dude) didn’t do the raspy Cocker singing thing he just just sang it in his normal singing voice. As I said , pedant, I’d have the same reaction if someone played Voodoo Chile and said “There’s a little Stevie Ray for you”

      • Ted S.

Wasn’t Joe Cocker famous for not writing his own songs?

      • Gender Traitor

He got by with a little help from his friends.

      • The Hyperbole

I put a TW warning right up front

      • slumbrew

        A fine alternate choice, Hobbit.

      • slumbrew

It was on-brand, if nothing else, Hype.

My estranged dad sent me the perfect gift: A Swiss Colony meat and cheese sampler. I love meat and cheese! The last gift I got from him was aged 12, it was a very nice quilt. I still have it, somewhere, but it has been beaten up by dogs and cats.

    /he’s trying

      • rhywun

        Wow, blast from the past.

      • Mojeaux

We were so poor we couldn’t afford any of that stuff and I thought the Hickory Farms store was the BEST.

      • Gender Traitor

Inorite??? The one in our local mall when I was a kid had a little open window to the left of the entrance, and they had a wooden horse with his head sticking out that window. We always made a point of going over to pat the wooden horse even if we weren’t going into the store to shop (which we rarely, if ever, did. 😞)

      • Gustave Lytton

Pretty sure the HF was seasonal when I was growing up.

Now the licensed product is sold at grocery stores.

    • slumbrew

      He is, indeed, trying.

I assume he’s getting on and filled with regrets…

    • LCDR_Fish

How many colonies have the Swiss?

      • UnCivilServant

Too many. They need to give back the province of the HRE they stole.

  12. UnCivilServant

To keep me on track, I put together a spreadsheet/checklist of things needed for this damn permission slip to exercise rights. I find it absurd and disgusting.

Just as a checklist there’s around ~35 items that need to be done.

  13. Gustave Lytton

Push button 4WD sucks. Give me a floor stick. I can find it and shift without looking.

  14. Gustave Lytton

Stupidest thing I’ve seen in a while. Driver in front (on narrow two lane rural highway, no suicide lane, no hard shoulder) slows down and pulls into the oncoming lane and stops, half in lane and half on soft shoulder. No hazards. Apparently to pick up some rocks on the roadside. CA plates, of course.

  15. Gustave Lytton

Is joking about woodchippers still ok?

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, Sean, Ted’S., EfE, and Stinky!

      • Gender Traitor

Good morning, U! How’s it going?

      • UnCivilServant

I’m in a lousy mood, but today would be a terrible day to call out of work since we’re doing a major upgrade.

      • Gender Traitor

Yeah, best to try to just get through it the best you can. 😕 Hope it goes OK! 🤞

Clutch time to get phleb certification. Three days to Pass. It’s game time gents.

Time to take it to the hoop. I feel under stress but very optimistic. Accomodations may be dropped down on em. Worth the Hail Mary.

Best if wishes to I all. Game Time.

What am I supposed to get out of that. That CNN fabricates stories to support a narrative is no surprise but what narrative are they spinning here?
Cover for replacing Assad with pederasts and headchoppers? I fully expect Syria to go the way of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya – Islamist hell of rape, murder, slavery and cannibalism. They will black out the news on that and pretend it is all bunny rabbits and rainbows…and we are supposed to buy it?
