proud patriotic music about America and dogs and Applebee’s.

This wasn’t something I just made up.

Joe Rogan Has Been Dethroned on Spotify. His Successor’s Podcast is a Delight.

What’s not to love about Kylie Kelce? She’s funny. She’s pretty, but in a normal suburban mom kind of way. She says “fuck” a lot. She’s charming. She wears the most normal clothes—athletic gear mostly. She’s not just the kind of girl you could get a beer with, she is the kind of girl you probably do get beers with on a regular basis. She’s relentlessly normal. And, she successfully dethroned Joe Rogan as the No. 1 podcaster in America. To be specific: Earlier this month, her brand-new podcast, Not Gonna Lie, held the top spots on the Spotify chart (where it remains No. 1 as of Wednesday) and the Apple chart (where it now sits at No. 2, below The Joe Rogan Experience). Joe Rogan had to work his way up from Fear Factor host peddling conspiracies, while Kylie Kelce has simply glided to the top with an iced Dunkin’ coffee in one hand.

I’m not a huge Joe Rogan fan, mostly because listening to people talk bores me, but the hatred on the left for him fascinates me. It is so complete. He was a Bernie Sanders supporter. He’s not some raving conservative. But he doesn’t toe the line, so he gets the Two Minutes Hate.

That song brings back memories of awkward high school dances.

proud patriotic music about America and dogs and Applebee’s.

This wasn’t something I just made up.

I listened to the whole thing. It sounds like an attempt to blend country and rap.

    • slumbrew

      It’s no Wheeler Walker Jr.

      • slumbrew

The theme from Justified is just fantastic.

      • EvilSheldon

I have a picture somewhere on my phone, from the shithole basement of this Capitol Hill BBQ joint circa 2016, of T.O.N.E.Z. showing me how to throw deuces after a concert. Those cats put on a hell of a live show.

      • slumbrew

        That is awesome.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Ya know, I usually drop a deuce after a concert, but you do you.

    • rhywun

It is the most heinous thing I will hear this week? decade?

      JFC.

      • Nephilium

/makes sure to find something terrible to put in music links for Friday afternoon

      • Ted S.

I think it was Tundra who said this was the worst thing he’d ever heard when I posted it some years back.

      • rhywun

lol that is pretty damn awful

      • Tundra

        Triggered.

Still awful. Jesus forgives, but I don’t.

  3. kinnath

Love this tune from the Romantics

  4. bacon-magic

The far left has been doing their best to alienate everyone around them. I say keep up the good work!

    • The Other Kevin

There is no way they’re winning any converts. That cult is going to keep shrinking.

      • Suthenboy

I wonder if their selecting for incompetence has anything to do with it?

Who posted the dual politically correct AI’s conversation the other day? It self destructs.

    • Nephilium

“We’re not in a bubble! You’re the ones in the bubble!”

/quits X and goes to Bluesky

/complains that Bluesky has too many right wing fascists on it

      • Suthenboy

This. Also, as pointed out in the last thread congress really has no idea what has happened. They keep pushing it and keep pushing it even after people have clearly said they are sick of that shit. They have gone too far and dont know when to quit.

      • bacon-magic

I don’t think they realize that Elon was serious about throwing money at their primaries.

      • juris imprudent

HAhahahaha, sure, money fixes everything wrong with the primaries.

  5. Shpip

Kylie Kelce has simply glided to the top with an iced Dunkin’ coffee in one hand.

Or, y’know, piggybacked on the success of her husband and brother-in-law’s podcasting and game commentary.

Either way, good on her. I’d rather see someone relatively normal as compared to any of the Lardashian sisters.

    • Sean

I don’t have any ill will for her, I am annoyed that I clicked a Slate link though…

    • slumbrew

Alsotoo, a new podcast hitting #1 isn’t a thing. Now stay there.

I’d happy take anyone’s money who thinks she’ll stay in front of Rogan long term.

      • slumbrew

        *new

    • rhywun

      …what’s a podcast?

      JK.

Barely. Don’t, won’t listen to any of that shit.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

There is a couple I will listen too when driving around, but that is it. For the most part, listening to a couple idiots yuk it up about nothing of interest just doesn’t float my boat.

      • rhywun

The one podcast I tried to get into was some Deutsche Welle for Amerikaner stuff… but I preferred listening to music during my commute so that didn’t last long.

  6. Mojeaux

Red One on tap at the movies. I do not care if it’s cheesy or bad.

    • Nephilium

Girlfriend and I watched it last week. There’s the bones of a good story there, but they ignored all of that for meaningless CGI setpieces. Far from the worst Christmas movie, but I probably won’t go back to it again.

    • Sean

Free on Amazon with Prime, in case anyone is interested.

      Currently has 4 stars. *shrug*

    • Mojeaux

Done. I have thoughts, but I don’t know what they are yet.

      But it was FUCKING FUN!

    • Tundra

It really is something. It’s either completely performative to launch DOGE, or these cocksuckers really were trying to pass this shit.

      Either way, a good win.

      • Compelled Speechless

It’s performative. The Republican Congresscritters do this every time. They pretend they’re opposed to one of these monstrosities on social media, then it magically get passed and never mentioned again. After it’s amended with some of their preferred pork, of course.

Omnibus bills are now SOP, and that’s the way everyone with their head in the trough likes it.

      • Tundra

Oh, I know. But this one looks like a goner. I’m curious if it was so over the top to give Elon and Vivek and early win.

    • Drake

Amazing to watch Elon, Vivek, and others bullying Republicans all day. Hope it worked.

  7. kinnath

That first video is so bad I can’t tell if it’s serious or a parody.

  8. JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

“She says fuck’ a lot. She’s charming.” Maybe it’s just me, but I find that to be an oxymoron. Won’t someone save us from these troublesome Kelces.

I don’t get the Rogan hatred either. He wasn’t my cup of tea to start. I don’t care for the bro stuff and I don’t watch MMF. But he’s a good interviewer who lets his guests talk.

    • Tundra

Won’t someone save us from these troublesome Kelces.

      Preach. More obnoxious than Gronk.

      • Nephilium

The people of Cleveland have apologized for the Kelces several times.

      • slumbrew

I do like that Gronk is a bit of stupid like a fox; like

        – he banked all his NFL checks, just living off endorsement money from the get-go
        – he bought a small party bus for going out and hired a sober childhood friend to drive it

If not his ideas, he’s smart enough to listen to good advice.

    • slumbrew

He’s a wrong-thinker, at times, which is enough for him to be wished into the cornfield.

      HoRsE PaStE!

      • SarumanTheGreat

        Another Jerome Bixby fan!

      • Ted S.

Yeah; it was amazing how Packer fans turned on a dime on Aaron Rodgers for his coronavirus thoughtcrime.

    • slumbrew

      *turbulent

(Going to my grave on that one)

    • EvilSheldon

      MMF?

If that was intentional, well done! If it wasn’t, well, also well done!

      • Tundra

        LOL.

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

Must have been a Freudian slip.

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

Like when you say one thing but mean your mother.

      • EvilSheldon

Most MMFs do probably involve Freudian issues…

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

Or maybe in this case I should have said when you mean one thing but mean your step-mother.

    • Drake

Rogan’s appeal is an open mind. A good guest can talk him into stuff with logic, while he usually sees through bullshit.

    • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

When Rogan has someone interesting on, then it is good. Run of the mill comedian or MMA fighter, don’t care.

    • Ted S.

Mixed Martial Farts, or male-male-female threesomes?

    • The Other Kevin

In another life I’d be the one painting those book covers.

      • Drake

And I’d be the guy posing for that painting.

    • Suthenboy

I am curious now…but page doesnt exist

  9. grrizzly

    Has this already been shared?

Ready to have your minds blown? I know what’s going on with the drones, and I will share it with you. But I’m also to give you the secret to seeing through all the nonsense we’ve been peddled for 60+ years.

What I am about to reveal to you is the Rosetta Stone for interpreting every major news event. I will give you the secret to unlocking the mystery. One simple assumption will reveal everything. Are you ready?

“The U.S. government was behind it and is lying to you to cover it up.”

That’s it. That’s all you need to assume, and you will be correct. Think I’m crazy? That it couldn’t possibly be that simple? That it could never be that obvious? Let’s try it out and see how it works.

Who killed JFK? The U.S. government was behind it and is lying to you to cover it up.

How did the cartels manage to get so many drugs into and so much cash out of the U.S.? The U.S. government was behind it and is lying to you to cover it up.

Why were all those women and children at Waco burned to death? The U.S. government was behind it and is lying to you to cover it up.

Who let the 9/11 hijackers into the U.S.? The U.S. government was behind it and is lying to you to cover it up.

Why were there no WMDs in Iraq? The U.S. government was behind it and is lying to you to cover it up.

What caused the housing market collapse and the massive devaluation of the U.S. dollar? The U.S. government was behind it and is lying to you to cover it up.

What happened with all that Russian collusion stuff in 2016? The U.S. government was behind it and is lying to you to cover it up.

Where did COVID originate? The U.S. government was behind it and is lying to you to cover it up.

Why was discussion of Hunter Biden’s laptop banned in 2020? The U.S. government was behind it and is lying to you to cover it up.

Who blew up the NordStream pipeline? The U.S. government was behind it and is lying to you to cover it up.

And finally: what’s going on with all those drones in the Northeast? Say it with me: “The U.S. government is behind it and is lying to you to cover it up.”

Every time there is some major new story that everyone is fixated on, assume that the story exists because your government is trying to manipulate you for its own purposes, and you will be correct at least 9 out of 10 times. Maybe even 99 out of 100.

Follow this simple rule, and you will know what is actually happening before anyone else. You will appear to be clairvoyant. And you will have a superpower that no one in corporate media has: the ability to see the truth.

    Use it wisely.

    • Suthenboy

Now do “Why does no one in the corporate media tell us what is going on?”

      • R C Dean

        Easy.

“The U.S. government is behind it and is lying to you to cover it up.”

        See,e.g., the Twitter Files.

      • Gustave Lytton

The USG is behind it and lying to you to cover it up.

      • Compelled Speechless

Did you just post this for Glib bias confirmation? Was anyone here not already operating under this assumption?

    • rhywun

      Get out of my head.

    • rhywun

Every time there is some major new story that everyone is fixated on, assume that the story exists because your government is trying to manipulate you for its own purposes

What I don’t get is, yes, the drone stuff is non-stop in the news, and I assume it’s the government fucking with us somehow but then why are they filling the news with it? Some 3D chess I’m not getting?

      • Suthenboy

Probably yes. They are doing something they dont want you to see. They are going to do something to shit-up the nest for Trump and it will be painful for us. I am convinced that is what the cootiebug scam was all about. It just feels to me like something diabolical is in the works…but then that is always what I think.

  10. The Late P Brooks

“When I said I ‘prefer to be behind the scenes,’ I very much mean that,” she says on the first episode of her podcast. ”I don’t like attention on me.”

Yup. She’s just talking to herself.

    *********

listening to people talk bores me

    No kidding. Me too.

  11. The Late P Brooks

    Warning

The United States should proceed cautiously as officials consider new natural gas export terminals, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said Tuesday, warning the incoming Trump administration that “unfettered exports” of liquefied natural gas, or LNG, could drive up domestic prices and increase planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions.

Granholm’s statement came as the Energy Department released a long-awaited study on the environmental and economic impacts of natural gas exports, which have grown exponentially in the past decade. The analysis found that U.S. LNG shipments drive up domestic wholesale prices and frequently displace renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power.

Increased LNG exports also would lead to higher global greenhouse gas emissions, even with use of newly developed equipment to capture and store carbon emissions, the report said.

Getting that retarded twat out of there will be a major improvement.

    • The Other Kevin

“frequently displace renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power”

Which side are they arguing? The UK has the highest percentage of renewables and also the highest energy prices.

      • Suthenboy

converting fossil fuels to electricity to run everything no matter how ill-suited will massively increase both cost and gas emissions.
Remember, no.1 on these people’s list is destroying overall prosperity.

      • R C Dean

It’s not “and also”. It’s “because it has”.

      • R C Dean

Should be “and so it has”.

    • Suthenboy

“… increase planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions.”
Ok, You can go ahead and just shut the fuck up lady. Thank you.

    • LCDR_Fish

Get rid of the Jones Act and we could ship domestically produced natural gas domestically…Otherwise, we ship US natural gas overseas and CA and New England import stuff….

Building a few more pipelines would help too.

Hope we can still restart that one from Canada.

      • juris imprudent

Calif has a huge natural gas field – they insist on leaving it in the ground. Fine no shipments to them and no pipelines to them.

  12. R C Dean

SF posts a cat video. Now I’ve seen everything.

  13. The Late P Brooks

“Unfettered exports of LNG would increase wholesale domestic natural gas prices by over 30%,” costing American households an additional $100 a year by 2050, Granholm said

As if they care. Every fucking thing this administration has done has increased prices.

    • Suthenboy

…and was done for precisely that reason.

    • The Other Kevin

We’re probably paying at least that much more per month at the gas station because of that bullshit.

    • SarumanTheGreat

Because there’s no way we can possibly extract more gas from existing reservoirs or find new ones!

They have Peak Oil (or in this case Peak Gas) on the brain.

  14. creech

What the f*** happened to the stock màrket’s “Santa Rally” this year??

    • The Other Kevin

      The Fed lowered rates again.

      • R C Dean

Doesn’t usually set off a rally?

      • Sensei

Inflation still hot. Market wanted them to not lower, but they did.

They also suggested no more changes near term.

Most would have preferred the drop at the next meeting.

      • Compelled Speechless

How was this woman surprised by this? Didn’t she have no crystal ball? If she wins a million dollars…..

      • rhywun

        Oh, chickens. lol

I have to drive to Myrtle Beach this weekend for a good old fashioned Griswold family Christmas

    • Pope Jimbo

Myrtle Beach felt like the Wisconsin Dells of SC. But without the selection of brandy.

My wife loved the sea food buffet we went to though. She only ate crab and mocked me for trying a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Turns out she was right. I ended up eating something bad and heaving it up that night.

  16. Sensei

    Perfect clickbait from USA Today

An odorless gas has been blamed for even more deaths: How to stay safe

I didn’t need to click as I knew what bullshit it was about. In a Georgian (country) ski resort restaurant they had a generator venting indoors somehow and killed 12.

Why that deserves to make the domestic section of the above with shit title shows just ho awful most MSM is now.

    • rhywun

      + more bird flu 🙄

  17. The Late P Brooks

Speaking of LNG exports- the Biden administration played a major role in creating European demand with their Russia sanctions. And what ever happened to that pipeline, anyway?

  18. R C Dean

Running errands, stopped off for a pint on the way home. A nice mixed fermentation sour from Tempe. Pretty good, but I gotta say I wouldn’t object to a cute bartender, which isn’t on offer this evening.

  19. Pope Jimbo

    Greedy profiteers trying tricknology now!

General Mills is forgoing profit growth to boost promotions and other short-term price cuts over the next six months in an effort to revive customer loyalty for the long haul.

The Golden Valley-based maker of Bisquick and Bugles is responding to consumer pressure over consistently high food prices, especially among national brands. After years of pandemic-era price hikes to offset higher costs and maintain profit margins, General Mills is now forced to give some ground on profits to sell more food.

Discounts will be spread across product categories like refrigerated baked goods, Totino’s Pizza Rolls and fruit snacks, company leaders said, joining marketing and manufacturing investments in brands like Pillsbury. In November, General Mills promotions were already 8% higher than the month before, according to Jefferies Research.

With the investment in price cuts and a 10% boost to ad spending, General Mills expects operating profits to drop 2% to 4% for the fiscal year that ends in May, down from a forecast range of 2% to flat.

Investors, rarely kind to diminished outlooks no matter the intention, responded by bringing the company’s stock down 3% Wednesday morning.

    • Tundra

They might actually be fucked. DId you see that Cargill laid off a bunch of people recently?

      • Pope Jimbo

Yeah, I saw that. My buddy has a wife who is a big wig over there.

It would be interesting to talk to her and get her take on that.

      • Pope Jimbo

I also wonder if they might be worried about RFK.

He might start pointing out how bad all their products are for your health. Might want to build up some good will with the rubes before they hear about how bad ultra refined foods are.

      • Tundra

I think it started before RFK. Say what you will, but the MSM has been dying for quite some time and Twitter has been thick with health stuff.

RFK is definitely gonna kick it into high gear.

  20. Pope Jimbo

Uffda. I don’t even know what to say.

Amid a surge in utility shutoffs, and in the face of a groundbreaking study finding racial disparities in those outcomes, Minnesota’s largest utility is taking a closer look at the issue.

In a November agreement with consumer groups and the state’s Public Utilities Commission, Xcel Energy has outlined a series of steps to provide more information to customers and make it easier for them to restore service.

Xcel also agreed to hire an outside consultant to conduct a one-year study of disparity issues related to disconnections and outages and, separately, do its own analysis of outages. The move came in response to a University of Minnesota study released earlier this year that found that people of color were more likely than White households to have their service disconnected for falling behind on bills, even when controlling for income and home ownership status.

The agreement falls short of a demand from the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office for Xcel to institute a temporary moratorium on shutoffs until racial disparities are addressed, based on a recommendation from Fresh Energy and a coalition formed by Cooperative Energy Futures, Environmental Law & Policy Center, Sierra Club, and Vote Solar.

No mention of the rising costs of electricity and if that is linked to the rise in bills not being paid. Also not mentioned is how much of that price increase is due to King Walz’s mandates that Excel/Minnesoda be carbon neutral by 2030 (or something like that).

I’m wondering if a lot of people might have thought that they could just not pay and get away with it. After Covid, student loan forgiveness and the 2008 real estate debacle, it is an attitude that can be understood.

    • Tundra

I’m sure that’s part of it. If no one is being evicted for not paying rent, it’s a small step to trusting that utilities won’t shut down.

      Time for some tough love.

    • R C Dean

And we certainly don’t want to look at the racial distribution of the “I can get away with not paying my bills” mindset.

  21. R C Dean

From an admittedly anti-Russian website, but it looks like Putin’s Russia is struggling to sustain a war that has dragged on for years in Ukraine. Between crashing demographics and a post-communist economy, there’s probably something to this:

    https://www.battleswarmblog.com/

I really thought it would be over by now. I wonder what the total body count (both sides) is?
