Links duty.
Now is the winter of our discontent
Made glorious summer by this sun of Glibs;
And all the clouds that lour’d upon our house
In the deep bosom of the ocean buried.
Now are our brows bound with victorious wreaths;
Our bruised arms hung up for monuments;
Our stern alarums changed to merry meetings,
Our dreadful marches to delightful measures.
Grim-visaged war hath smooth’d his wrinkled front;
And now, instead of mounting barbed steeds
To fright the souls of fearful adversaries,
He capers nimbly in a lady’s chamber
To the lascivious pleasing of a lute.
OK, that might be a bit of overstating things…but here are some links to amuse you.
- *snortlaugh* A police shooting we can all point and laugh at!

Comments are all yours, you magnificent people.
P.S. We need material for the site – badly. We are OK until Thursday morning…then, zilch.
I am generally against anyone deciding what someone should do with their own money, but I’m kind of OK with the Swiss keeping the Taliban from using theirs.
Conquerors could seize the treasury of the defeated regime when it was all kept locked up in a treasury. Now, I’m not sure exactly legal claim a conqueror would have to the former government’s property. Whatever is in-country, of course, they can claim by right of possession. The other stuff? Well, it’s kinda like saying a murderer takes title to the victim’s property, isn’t it.
So who would have claim to banked assets in case of coup, invasion, civil war, or other case of questionable transition?
Three Kings was a fabulous movie.
How does Afghanistan have money? What do they have to sell? They are the poverty stricken country of destitution, unless it’s all the war material left behind from the Russian/American occupations?
I thought “opium”… and a lot of it.
Surplus US military equipment?
I have a date with Steak & Shake in about a month.
https://www.livenowfox.com/news/steak-n-shake-beef-tallow
I was on the road and tried them recently. Not bad, not great, but probably in the top three for chain burger places, just like that dude said.
Which is like being top of the trash heap… So yeah.
I like Steak ‘n Shake, I like 5 guys, I will not eat at In and out. To hell with a line that long, no fast food is worth it.
In and Out is consistent mediocrity. It’s never bad, but it’s never great. It is decent and you can tell it’s fresh. Also, the restaurants are always clean.
An Australian reptile wrangler responded to a Queensland home where a massive coastal carpet python was found hiding inside a resident’s barbecue grill.
/In best Paul Hogan accent
That’s not a python.
That’s a python (scroll down about 2/3rds of the page)
No offense — but given the proclivities of this place, I’m loathe to click any link promising a big python…. (or even a big Perl if it is UCS or one of our other tech folk).
C what sort of bias we face?
As a non-technical Glib, I have only a basic understanding of what you are worried about.
Don’t worry about it — I think Swiss is going to invite a Vietnamese acquaintance over to explain it all to you, Jarflax.
So you can just wait for Tran.
We’ll try to leave this incident out of our BIOS.
Time to make some Java with my new Netbeans machine.
If not UCS, we could always bash it out
I’m sure there’s a firm where these puns are appreciated, but it’s time to CD’s puns out of here.
There’s probably a law being broken here, someone should ask an ADA to look into it.
There is always the language of liars, dissembler.

Y’all need to stop this, before he ends up as a shell of himself.
People can’t help trying to bash more puns into this thread.
Exception thrown: duplicate pun exception
It’s OK, it’s a recursive pun.
Always nice to see there remains a kernel of humor in this place. Though if we planned it better for text art, we could have made a nice new micro-architecture on this page.
Someone should compile a list of puns so there’s no more duplicates.
With KK getting ready for the cruise, I’m sure she could reach out to the cruise ship’s Parser.
The vim and vigor of these puns pleases me
nerds.
BTW, if you’re looking for a new pair of exotic-skinned cowboy boots, there are lots of rednecks willing to take you out to the ‘glades to get you one.
Add in some chicken of the trees and a peacock bass (an aggressive, hard-fighting, and tasty non-native fish) to round out your Florida Man adventure.
Prices are fair — they won’t put the squeeze on you.
Sounds like you got the navel discount.
What do you consider fair?
Why is that a link to OnlyFans and who is Piphs?
Just turn the grill on. Snake stays or comes out, in either case problem solved.
Initially I’d thought he was just dumb enough to accidentally shoot himself in the knee…
He’s dumb enough to do it deliberately.
It’s entirely possible his father, (also?) a crooked cop, shot him.
That guy looks like he has wanted to be a cop his whole life.
Week one of Trump has exhausted me, but I’ll see if I can get you the cruise article ASAP.
Now I wish I could think of something that might interest folks…
‘A lot of the fast food models are not really based on any sort of care about what goes in to the product, it’s just about making money and getting it out there,’ Motz told DailyMail.com
Isn’t that like saying water is wet?
But we needed to hear that from an expert …
As my father defined an expert, an ex- is a has been and a -spurt is a drip.
I only frequent hand-crafted artisan fast food joints.
Honestly, those are the best.
They are few and far between. The one local to me shows movies worthy of a Thursday night, and the burgers are to die for.
You’re in a great mood. 38 and sunny will do that after the last few weeks we’ve had.
Dude, just talk to her! No need to
drag your balls through broken glassshoot your own leg.Kicking around an idea of a FedGov refugee in Trumps America…just never written fiction before
Nobody else has, either, until they do…
Alternately, yeah, you have (probably), because you seem normal. Make-believe as a kid? Fiction. Your D&D character? Fiction. Any sexual roleplay? Fick-shun.
Now get to it and give me 1, 200 words by the end of next week, or I’ll cut your balls off.
Tonio’s ritual hazings of new Glib writers is quite …. invigorating.
The only thing that could go bad is if he gets Spud to help him fix your article up. Sucks to have a dicktater for an editor.
all I can do is hope none of your staff ever end up in Florida.
I think the Florida record is just shy of twenty feet.
I see snakes that size in my yard all of the time. I pay them no attention.
George Motz
WHO???
“acclaimed burger historian” — out of a field of 5 guys who came up with the field on Reddit one night most likely.
He hosted the Travel Channel show Burger Land from 2012 to 2013. — wiki
Well, how could I have missed his season in the sun?
Well he is correct
Never trust a man with mutton chops.
Something makes me think this whole article is a load of applesauce.
roadapplesauce
My kid watches youtube videos that he appears on, where he details the history of regional burgers and cooks them up. It’s mildly interesting.
I dig Steak and Shake. I’m not really sure I care about a burger joint creating a warm atmosphere or community or whatever Motz is on about in that article.
I have a Steak and Shake really close. It is a good burger, and they still have a combo for $5.50 or something (used to be $4.00). And their diner decor is cool.
OK, have to give him his due, I was expecting trendy NYC restaurant prices.
If one wonders why Fauci’s pardon backdated to 2014..Taibbi might just find out for us
https://www.zerohedge.com/covid-19/gigantic-rats-nest-taiabi-hints-fbi-communications-covid-scientist-will-be-exposed
I can’t be alone in hoping that the aides screwed up in timing it alongside Hunter’s and that he started some of the NIH / gain-of-function stuff in 2013 so he can be nailed anyway…. given all the other ways the PPP administration screwed up, that would be icing on the cake.
Statute of limitations?
They only have to pardon the last 10 years because anything before that is off limits?
Hmm, that is a novel question. Ordinarily a statute of limitations begins to run when an offense is completed. I really wonder how a pardon affects that if an ongoing offense started before the covered period and completed during the covered period.
I thought I originally understood it to be 2017, at the beginning of Trump’s admin, instead it was while Obama was still in office. Shame Obama didn’t put Fauci on the Disposition Matrix.
I’ll be interested to see what Taiabi finds. He’s one of the few journalists I actually trust.
Better than nothing, I suppose
“The Executive Order directs the Secretary of Defense to reinstate all members of the military (active and reserve) who were discharged for refusing the COVID vaccine and who request to be reinstated,” according to the White House fact sheet.
The service members who are reinstated will be restored to their prior rank, and will be provided back pay and benefits, according to the fact sheet.
Lloyd Austin must be fuming.
Not sure about Austin — but this asshole sure is crying about it. Wah wah wah….
As if R C Dean needed another reason to hate this guy:
“You may get back payed, but you don’t deserve it.”
GOD FUCKING DAMN IT!
I just can’t even anymore.
He is trolling. That’s what he does. Pay no attention.
Agreed, fuck that guy. He doesn’t even matter anyway.
Ozzy must be… well, I’m sure Ozzy is pleased. I won’t speculate.
Do they have to reenlist or can they collect back pay and head off if their enlistment expired?
Our own Ozy has been vindicated. I love to see that after all his hard work and bravery.
Well this is interesting. My oldest, the one living in the cult house, called us earlier and told us everything was fine. But now she’s texting three of us and saying she wants out of that house. They listen to her calls so she’s putting up a front. She’s still wavering about leaving but hopefully we can get her out of there.
She texted my youngest this weekend, who gave her great advice and has apparently grown up pretty quick being a Navy wife.
Hoping for the best, TOK!
Need to form a brute squad?
All seriousness…that shit is scary
Yes we’re planning on taking some big, armed guys with us if we end up going to get her. I might also stop by the local PD and see if an officer would accompany us. She doesn’t own much, it would take 10 minutes and a few trash bags to get it all.
Good.
My gut is that you’d be better off with the local PD just so that your butt is covered if something does go down. Otherwise, you could easily be looking at something spun into an assault charge or worse — might as well put that qualified immunity to work for you instead.
Good luck to you and to her. Hope she gets out, gets away and has this lesson sink in. And glad your youngest is still doing well — hope her hubby on Nimitz is having a good cruise.
Just don’t hire these guys.
But, yeah, cults can be weird.
Damnit! These guys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dN3EAhRtoHU
Thanks SDF-7, he’s off the coast of Southern California for one last training before a real deployment.
I’d probably just skip the “getting her stuff” part, other than phone, laptop, anything relatively valuable and easily portable. In and out, fast and hard. Time spent in that house is time spent asking for trouble and stuff ain’t worth it.
Correct RC. They have a trunk my FIL made for her in storage, and she doesn’t have a key, but there isn’t anything that can’t be replaced.
I think you said before that she works, and drives to work in her own car?.. I wouldn’t go near the house, just have her go to work, and not come back. Forget about any stuff, then tell the local PD that this person is not “missing” or they may try to allege a kidnapping.
See that’s the problem. She totaled her car a few months ago and they’re driving her everywhere. She’s giving them her whole paycheck so she has no chance of getting a new car. That’s what finally woke her up. And they won’t allow anyone on their property. So we’d just park out front and she could walk out.
Can’t just get her at work. Burn the job and stuff. Avoid the conflict and disappear?
OBE, also a good idea.
Do they watch her while she works? I would still say picking her up outside of the home will be the best, they don’t get to shout “home invasion” etc. All they have to do is get nervous and lock the doors, I’m sure the place is already fortified so people can’t go walking at night.
I don’t know what State this is in, so don’t take this as legal advice, but generally speaking a resident can invite guests onto premises.
I don’t think they watch her at work. This is Indiana.
100% do the contact at her workplace, where the opposition is unlikely to have their resources gathered. Keep the cult house as a secondary, if at all.
EvilSheldon’s advice sounds prudent
I would also assume they have placed a tracker on her person/in her purse. RFID proof bag and a complete change of clothes/footwear may be warranted. Phone goes in the bag as well.
You need friends with rifles.
Will friends with benefits do?
Having a rifle is a benefit.
TOK — opera clap.
Be very careful here. You do not, not, not want to go in there looking like some kind of redneck raid team. That will get you arrested and jailed, and probably dragged ass-first in the local media.
Keep things as chill and low-profile as possible. Have options ready if you need them.
Best wishes
You guys should see this text thread. It’s crazy. She did admit she’s afraid to leave.
Go get her at work. Take the cops with you. Show the cops the texts so they know what they are dealing with. Write the things off. They are just things. Take your daughter and go home. If you have a good shotgun keep it handy around the house. Dont put it past them to try and kidnap her back. You might want to let your hometown cops know what is going on as well.
Get her out of there.
Hopefully the local cops will get these guys in their sights. You can bet your last dollar your daughter is not the only one there against their will.
has apparently grown up pretty quick being a Navy wife
Sounds like she’s got great parents and you’ve got a kick ass son-in-law.
TOK, wishing the best for her, and you, in this mess.
Uffda TOK.
Hope everything works out for you and your family.
One thought TOK, when, not if but when, she gets out of that house, you might think of taking her directly to her sisters in WA. She can have a guest for a bit, and she will be completely out of the loop of the cult.
“Can’t just get her at work. Burn the job and stuff. Avoid the conflict and disappear?”
Fully agree. What possessions she has with the cultists can’t be worth sacrificing her freedom for.
Also if she has anything valuable there (which I doubt considering the circumstances) she might be able to sue to get them. Or perhaps even sue them for holding her against her will. She might not win, but forcing them to defend themselves might not only hurt their finances but shine some unwanted light on their activities.
Hopefully they’re not snooping in her texts.
I wonder what Kinzinger’s position on slavery reparations is.
Maybe the original Republican proposal – 40 acres and a mule?
It’s why the US needs Greenland.
Back in November RJ posted “Hundreds of Beavers” for GlibFlick.
Someone I know sent me a AMA on r/movies for the “Hundreds of Beavers” production team.
Nice!
I did watch Hundreds Of Beavers a few weeks ago, mostly because it had been a Glibflick. If you can dig the silent-movie physical-humor style, it’s surprisingly funny. I love the costuming.
Am I the only one who keeps hearing a modified version of this as y’all discuss the movie?
(“Hundreds of Beavers… beavers for free!”)
“I did watch Hundreds Of Beavers a few weeks ago, ”
I have too, but not in just a few weeks.
“mostly because it had been a Glibflick”
Uh, yeah, glib flicks.
Of course that embarassment to humanity is co-sponsoring this… In between bills to make it easier for the state to take children away from their parents, no doubt.
Somebody apparently wants Pancho Villa 2.0. Not a great plan.
Not at all surprising. My buddy has had rocks thrown at him and he’s been grabbed at and spit on through the wall.
Biden gave these guys a license to print money, and now Trump’s canceled that. They aren’t going to just walk away and retire. It’s going to get a lot uglier.
A chevauchee through northern mexico to slaughter as many cartel members as possible?
I wonder what the Mexican Army is doing there. Could be anything – cover fire for the cartels, running them off before Trump loses his temper with Mexico – no telling.
Sounds like the BP needs more range time – “nobody hit on either side”.
Silver lining – the illegals turned around. With soldados shooting at the BP, I’m thinking mules.
Zeihan thinks the day the cartels really bring their brand of violence to this country is the day Mexico ceases to exist; response being full on U.S. invasion and a new government.
“Trust us.”
“No.”
Some Republican senators are pushing for the unusual step of making public a key vote on Tulsi Gabbard’s nomination in the Senate Intelligence Committee, in an attempt to exert pressure on the members of a panel that typically does business behind closed doors.
Senate Intelligence Committee Chair Tom Cotton is being prodded to make the change by senators allied with President Donald Trump, according to two Senate GOP officials granted anonymity to speak about private conversations.
Gabbard is set to face the Senate Intelligence Committee in open and closed sessions on Thursday. Typically, aside from certain public hearings, the panel deliberates and votes in private. That includes presidential nominations.
The talk of forcing open the committee vote underscores concerns among some Republicans that Gabbard’s nomination could die before it even reaches the floor.
Public pressure from Trump allies played a key role in getting Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth across the finish line, and Gabbard’s allies believe some Republicans on the panel might vote a different way if they know their votes will be made public.
Why would these hearings need to be secret? Do you have something to hide?
“a panel that typically does business behind closed doors”
Not letting the citizenry know what you’re doing doesn’t sound very democratic.
“some Republicans on the panel might vote a different way if they know their votes will be made public”
Much brave. So principle.
I can see (though not entirely agree) with deliberations if that includes currently classified material (and therein lies the rub.. too much is “classified”).
The vote? No way — do your discussions in private if need be, then open the room to the public to put your votes on the record. You don’t have to pontificate your reasons at that time (“But we’re Senators! Blathering on about our votes as if most people gave a Schiff is what we doooo!”), just vote straight up or down.
Choir. Preaching. Sorry.
She’s not a confidential source or an intelligence gathering technique. She is a nominee for a cabinet position and is supposed to be judged on her record. I don’t see how this is a situation in which secret proceedings are remotely appropriate.
Cause reasons Jarflax. People might realize their representatives only care about power
I could see some of the hearings being in private depending on what they’re discussing. But, yeah, the voting needs to be public.
A large python the size of a small python.
How many bananas is that?

OK, I phoned in an article on Glibcruise
Glad you found more than just a one liner, KK.
That ship sailed already
Canoe do another one, KK?
C’mon guys. Stop making waves with all these puns.
Schooner or later the article was going to be written.
You think Swiss is going to barge back in and put us all in the brig? He’s too busy reading KK’s article — to leave it un-proofread would destroy ‘er.
Narrowing gaze is just another way of tooting one’s horn.
Pay up, sucker
The top Democrat on the House Natural Resources Committee in Congress, Rep. Jared Huffman, of California, criticized Trump’s executive order, saying in a statement, “With the stroke of a pen, Trump has chosen to undermine critically important safeguards and a whole host of community needs regarding the largest and most complex water operations in the world.”
Huffman added that none of the policies outlined in the executive order “will move even a single drop of extra water to communities devastated by these wildfires. The president should be focusing on convincing his allies in Congress to provide Los Angeles the assistance it desperately needs as soon as possible and free from conditions. Instead, he is doubling down on conditioning aid to California with unrelated demands.”
“You wouldn’t understand. it’s a California thing. Now where’s our allowance?”
Squabbling about that water after the fact accomplishes nothing. Practical policies for the future is what they should be focused on.
Override the coastal commission and build nukes by San Diego and a complex of desal plants replacing the drain on the Colorado. Put the salt in Yucca Mountain with the low level waste.
(I’m talking out my butt here, I know… it may be actually infeasible for some reason… but it may not be. Certainly desal is better than “drain the Colorado for the Imperial Valley and everyone else should just ration!” Sick of the no-growth mentality… lets put our technology to actual use for a change already…)
With the stroke of a pen, Trump has chosen to undermine critically important safeguards and a whole host of community needs regarding the largest and most complex water operations in the world.
I don’t really care, Margaret.
To be fair, I don’t agree that it is the entire nation’s responsibility to “take measures to ensure Southern California has adequate water resources”. Too many people there sucking up all the water from multiple states is kind of the problem.
Children’s Pythons are cute. A lot of people keep them as pets, even though they can be a bit nippy.
Children?
My mistake. The python in the BBQ grill was a Carpet Python, not a Children’s Python. Pretty different.
🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩
The Congressional Dems are going to try to mount an aggressive campaign against Trump’s EOs, based on a text I got from a…connected friend yesterday. Not sure how they think they can accomplish anything.
“Oh no…. don’t move against OMB by re-asserting Congressional power and getting rid of the Imperial Executive.
Anyway….”
How can they accomplish anything? Throw enough shit against the wall and, abetted by the DNC’s 4th estate, they can narrowly win back the House in 2026 when, historically, the president’s party loses seats.
The person that contacted me works on the other side of Congress, but that doesn’t make much difference. They all work together.
Somebody got a message
So, the judge didn’t keep his word to the Oath Keepers.
Grounds for non-admission
One of today’s Daily Rays of Stupidity. Again… not a great plan.
Override the coastal commission and build nukes by San Diego and a complex of desal plants replacing the drain on the Colorado.
That would be a good start.
How about the entire Coastal Commission be run through the chippers?

Friend still in shock after volunteer firefighter killed in Pinckard fire
My cousin’s son died fighting a fire.
I never met the man. Still, it’s unsettling.
Oops, it was his own home.
As a general rule the 5 PM news puts me to sleep. Tonight the Blather-in-Charge is so irritating I turned off the TV, after cursing and threatening. I can still hear him on the upstairs TV. Maybe I’ll just skip dinner.
We’re in for a bumpy ride.
How about the entire Coastal Commission be run through the chippers?
We could squeeze the water out of them in a giant hydraulic press, so they wouldn’t be completely useless.
Swiss, I should have two things by tomorrow for you. Small, but timely
Yes, I know I’m behind uploading. Been a bit preoccupied.
I dont get the python thing. What were they thinking? The damned thing was already in the BBQ.
It hadn’t been cleaned or skinned.
Yes, you are correct.
I think I hallucinated a following article…movie Monday…but the format was off and I could not comment.
