The Hat and The Hair Animated: Rerun ep 44

by | Jan 8, 2025 | Hat and Hair | 128 comments

Last time I talked about the flip-flopping of ideas. Here is another instance of the breakneck speed at which policy positions shift. We went from the Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate saying she wouldn’t take the Trump vaccine, to the Democratic machine making the vaccine compulsory. They really some sick fucks. Enjoy the cartoon.

    Dr. Fausti. I liked it.

Mojeaux, I saw your vent on the dedthread. Sorry.

    • Ownbestenemy

Seconded for Mojeaux and vent away.

      • Sean

        +3

    • Evan from Evansville

      This. Deepest sympathies, Mo.

    • Mojeaux

Thanks for letting me vent and your good wishes. I went home and took a shower and now am back at the hospital. I feel emotionally better, but I’m exhausted.

      • Gender Traitor

Do you have a reasonably comfortable place to lie down? 😟

      • Mojeaux

Recliner. It’s fine. I sleep in a recliner at home half the time.

Last night Mom wanted it, so I slept (if you could call it that) in the bed.

      • Gender Traitor

Whatever works for the two of you…as long as some night shift nurse doesn’t come in during the wee hours and stick an IV in you! 😳

  2. Ownbestenemy

    Its just so damn comical.

GTFO. I’m sure the folks in SoCal would find this amusing.

      • Gender Traitor

        Patzie!!!! 😃

We miss you in the pre-Lynx early mornings, but I understand you taking advantage of the long-deferred privilege of sleeping in. Please don’t be any a stranger!

      • KK, Plump & Unfiltered

Lookit who it is!! We’ve missed you!

    • Drake

All the firefighters who wouldn’t take the vax were fired.

The list of intentional fuckups is very long. California is Idiocracy now.

      • Evan from Evansville

“The sheriff’s office said the small [spider] monkey was returned to its caretaker after “careful negotiations and some coaxing.” Photos posted on the sheriff’s department Facebook page show a deputy kneeling on the ground before the tutu-clad monkey approached and grabbed his hands.”

Fun fact: Jim Jones, no shit, sold spider monkeys in his early days in Indiana to help fund and kickstart his community outreach. He apparently did (some) legit good shit in Indy before he went fully crazy in California. I’m not dumb enough to ever contemplate having a pet monkey. Scariest part for the characters in Jurassic Park: The velociraptors learning to open the door. A relief when kids can do some shit on their own, I don’t want a monkey with thumbs, a prehensile tail, and glimmers of sentience roaming about my home. Conniving little bastards.

  3. Timeloose

I laughed at the “I eat three masks a day”, then I remember laughing at it during the first go around. It’s still funny.

    • Ownbestenemy

JFC…its the Ring in real life. But I second Tundra, cute as all heck.

      • rhywun

        More terrifying than cute.

    • Evan from Evansville

All correct. Its tiny legs are all bullshittily stubby ‘n short!

Sans research nor care to cost, *would* have as a pet. A sloth’d really tie the room together.

      • Not Adahn

I have heard they smell particularly bad since their grooming habits aren’t what we’d call great.

Youngest got out of there today so House OBE is relieved. He had gone down to Santa Monica chasing tail and now knows the dangers of premarital sex.

    • Ownbestenemy

On another note…many a house parties and wilds nights were had there in the late 90s

      • Ownbestenemy

Its not like we have data to see where these typically happen

      • Tundra

Something’s up. Of course the hills burn, but this is getting crazy.

      • Ownbestenemy

In my Airman Leadership class, we were tasked with developing a “what would terrorist do”. I argued forest fires are probably the best method to create a situation where all the first-responders would congregate and thus, take out local support.

Not saying it is, just was my thought back in 2005.

      • Tundra

Yep. I follow one of you on Twix and he’s been talking about this for years.

It’s an almost perfect terror tool.

      • Ownbestenemy

Given other fires and North, North-East winds…Id say PG&E power lines caused this.

      • Tundra

        Hollywood?

      • Ownbestenemy

Ya or a firebug. No way Altadena embers caused it and the Palisades are to the west. Winds are reported from the NNE direction.

      • Tundra

This is a terror attack. And a fucking good one.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Eh, those hills burn, and when they aren’t burning they have mudslides.

It doesn’t work as terror (right now at least) as no one is claiming responsibility, which is needed to amp it up. No, if anything it is kids fucking around or, maybe, a firebug.

My wife is in Westwood for work – hoping things don’t expand too much.

      • Ownbestenemy

Ya…might wanna move out for a bit. Its gridlock now.

      • R C Dean

If its gridlocked, how will she move out?

    • Ownbestenemy

Altadena is considered upper crust area…So Palisades, NoHo, and Altadena….conspiracy!

  4. Ownbestenemy

Go-bags are signs of right wingers…and the news is asking people if they have them.

    • Tundra

I do, but I’m really rethinking having stuff here in the first place.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

If you have them in your vehicle, they are already home?
        /EMP?

      • Tundra

No, I mean why not have certain valuables/docs off site.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

Yes, that’s a must, I use a small fireproof box that’s grab and go, not perfect but

    • Yusef drives a Kia

Once I moved to Michigan I packed a bag for every vehicle, so I still do.

  5. Ownbestenemy

I guess this is where people do not understand ‘libertarians’ or maybe our sect of them. People are affected and shit sucks. Yes we will assign blame, but we don’t wish death or destruction upon people or their homes.

    • Tundra

I wish death on a few people.

      WTF do you mean?

      • Ownbestenemy

Okay well a few people feel our collective, yet completely independent wrath!

  6. Fourscore

CPRM, heard Trump speaking today, sounds like he has picked the accent from watching H & H.

“Is it real or is it H & H”

    Good Covid refresher, CP

  7. Ownbestenemy

Imagine if we had this type of media for the Chicago or San Fran fires of the late 1800s and early 1900s?

    • Tundra

      Maybe we’d know the truth?

      Or something close.

  8. Gender Traitor

“I have the cerveza virus!” 😄

I appreciate that producing these animations is a laborious process, but I do hope that when you make your next new one, you can somehow work in “maple-sucking puck-slappers.” I do so want to hear that in the Hat’s voice, and after all – it’s now canon!!

    • KK, Plump & Unfiltered

Lookit who it is! We’ve missed you!!

      • Mojeaux

        Patzie has shown up also!!!

    • Evan from Evansville

I’ve also missed you! Good to see you, again. Youngin’s gotta youngin’: Your ideas and thoughts were influential on younger Ev. I strongly, strongly approve of your return.

      • Festus

        Aw shucks.

  9. UnCivilServant

🤬 I fell asleep after work, which is going to make tomorrow’s plans more difficult.

    • rhywun

I’m supposed to wear a sleep monitor gizmo tonight and I don’t feel like going to bed.

      • UnCivilServant

I’m trying to figure out what I’ve got to get done before getting on the road after work.

      • Gender Traitor

You can do it! Just be sure to stock up on Dew for the road!

      • UnCivilServant

I have to do laundry, since I would have run out this weekend regardless. Since I’m too awake to sleep, I’ve put a load in.

      • Evan from Evansville

These euphemisms, they’re laundering the burning of the wick.

  10. LCDR_Fish

Adam Carolla got evacuated again (condo may have burned down).

Great rant since he just evacuated a few weeks ago – and he’s going over the same stuff again….just wait till everyone in Malibu tries to rebuild and the California Coastal Commission tells them they can’t get a permit…after all these years of straight progressive blue.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Why do I suspect the rich Malibuans will manage to wrangle an exception to those pesky codes/rules/laws?

      • LCDR_Fish

Suzanne Somers and her husband tried for 5+ years to rebuild their (comparatively small, older) home after a prior fire (or earthquake?). Adam’s referenced it multiple times – I think it was from his last interview with her. In the end, they gave up and moved to Palm Springs.

      • slumbrew

I was just thinking of that, Fish.

They were certainly of means but couldn’t budge the Commission.

Maybe it will be be different this time due to the sheer number of homes destroyed

      • UnCivilServant

Nah, it’ll be like the last few – prevent reconstruction until desperation drives people to sell at cut rates

      • R C Dean

I imagine the Commission is just overjoyed at the opportunity to “fix” that stretch of coastline in bulk. I wouldn’t be surprised if they just let it rot for a few years until the state can eminent domain it as a public beach on the cheap. They’re big on protecting the coastal environment by letting the public shit all over it, is my impression.

    • Toxteth O'Grady

Me too. It’s miserable, isn’t it.

Have you had a sleep study, even at home?

  11. Ted S.

Spare a thought for all the non-gov people affected by the impromptu shutdown today.

      • R C Dean

I thought it was Day of Lamentation for the Carter.

      • Ted S.

I’m frankly surprised NYS didn’t give you lot the day off.

Funeral for a politician and FedGov gets shut down.

      • Ted S.

RC Dean is of course right.

      • rhywun

        My daily wallpaper is half-staffs.

Who was the last one to kick it? I don’t remember so much ceremony.

      • R C Dean

Well, that’s because, incredibly, this is the first Democrat ex-Prez to die since Lyndon Johnson in 1973.

The last ex-Prez to die was Bush the elder in 2018.

      • rhywun

incredibly, this is the first Democrat ex-Prez to die since Lyndon Johnson in 1973

That’s bananas but it does explain things.

    • Gender Traitor

      Good morning, Sean, U, Ted’S., and TO’G!

      • Toxteth O'Grady

        Mornin’!

      • Gender Traitor

        How are you today?

      • Gender Traitor

Hey, U! How are YOU holding up? I see sleep was an issue. 😟

      • Toxteth O'Grady

        Poor UCS.

Most of my sleep I get is accidental. I might know your feeling; I dunno.

      • UnCivilServant

I need to get everything squared away and get on the road after a regular workday which means… not getting proper sleep is a problem.

      • UnCivilServant

I wouldn’t say my sleep is accidental, especially not with five hours of driving later… 😳

On ‘normal’ weeks, it tends to mostly end up on the weekend.

      • Gender Traitor

        😟🤞

    • rhywun

How is it I have never heard of that person but I have heard that song a bajillion times on television?

Here is a non-commercial chick who is so high.

      • Tres Cool

I left the barren, desolate, wasteland of SE Ohio to come back to testing HQ just in time for….more snow!

  13. Grosspatzer, Superstar

    Mornin’, reprobates!

Not gonna complain about the cold and wind here. It could be worse…

Checked in on a cousin I haven’t seen in years, turns out he retired to his ranch in central California. Good choice, although it is still California.

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, ‘patzie! Welcome back! 😃

      • Grosspatzer, Superstar

Mornin’, GT! Almost done with PT for my shoulder, I’ll be around more whether you like it or not 🙂

      • Gender Traitor

As long as he’s not aflame.

      • Grosspatzer, Superstar
  14. R C Dean

I was reading Taibbi on SubStack (the topic was Zuck’s announcement on freeing up some discourse on Facebook), and he noted some people were wishing female billionaires would buy Facebook so they could put the content controls back in. I was amused to see that of the four billionaires mentioned, two were entertainers (Oprah and Tay-tay), and the other two were divorcees (ex-Gates and ex-Bezos).

    • slumbrew

Meta has a cap of $1.54T. Do they imagine one of those ladies has that kind of scratch? Or that Meta would sell off just Facebook to them?

Why would strong, independent women need to be shielded from bad words, anyway?

    • Ted S.

Stated preference: Women in power are kinder and more nurturing than men.
Revealed preference: Women in power are nasty control freaks.

(This is why there are no female libertarians….)

      • Toxteth O'Grady

I dunno. Sounds good to me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I observe that trend, and also notice that those women are lesbians.
