One of the many benefits of astrology not just its predictive ability but its advisory. Famously the practice of recommending days for the king to impregnate his heir-bearer, but also weddings, invasions, conferences and other events where you want luck to be with you. That’s what we’ve got this week: two days with very specific recommendations. Monday is an opportune time to end something, and Wednesday is an auspicious time to take control of something. Saturday is a good day to do very little.
Aquarius: Strength – Power, energy, action, courage, magnanimity; also complete success and honors.
Pisces: 2 of Coins – Games, recreation, news and messages in writing, obstacles, agitation, trouble, embroilment.
Aries: 10 of Coins – Gain, riches, family matters, archives, extraction, the abode of a family.
Taurus: Ace of Cups reversed – House of the false heart, mutation, instability, revolution.
Gemini: Bank card –
Cancer: 8 of Wands reversed – Jealousy, internal dispute, stingings of conscience, quarrels.
Leo: 7 of Wands reversed – Perplexity, embarrassments, anxiety. It is also a caution against indecision.
Virgo: 8 of Swords reversed – Disquiet, difficulty, opposition, accident, treachery; what is unforeseen; fatality.
Libra: Knight of Swords reversed – Imprudence, incapacity, extravagance.
Scorpio: 7 of Swords – Design, attempt, wish, hope, confidence; also quarrelling, a plan that may fail, annoyance.
Sagittarius: Queen of Cups reversed – Distinguished woman but one not to be trusted; perverse woman; vice, dishonor, depravity.
Capricorn: 4 of Wands – Country life, haven of refuge, a species of domestic harvest-home, repose, concord, harmony, prosperity, peace.
The words I live by.
Nice to know my unemployment $$ will be kicking in this week

Scientists have developed a new alloy composed of multiple metals that exhibits nearly zero thermal expansion across an exceptionally wide temperature range.

Trump is already letting Austria and China get ahead of us in Science!.
The soviets were ahead of us in the space race, until they weren’t.
First satellite. First animal in space. First man in space. First animals to travel to the moon.
America was the first to send humans beyond the Van Allen Belt. The first to send men *to* the moon, and the first (and only, so far) to put humans *on* the moon.
I don’t subscribe to the implications, but this is funny:
there are two kinds of countries in the world:
those that have put a man on the moon and those that use the metric system
We haven’t gone back to the moon ever since our scientists adopted the metric system, because you can’t put a man on the moon using fake measurements.
We haven’t been back to the Moon since the Department of Education was founded under Carter in 1979. Nor have we designed another successful manned launch vehicle. Coincidence? I think not.
Hmmmm.
Ok.
IDN RTFA but it’s a laudable achievement
but, in engineering terms, I’m hard-pressed to see how it matters
a) whatever the fraction is, if it was negligible before, so it remains
b) if mattered before but it’s orders of magnitude less now, you still have to do all the work and accommodate the movement, however small
c) the perfect material always gets bolted to imperfect material, so something’s going to move and I’ve got to deal with it; even the concrete* in your driveway is moving around
Funny story: the felty stuff used as expansion joints in concrete is made in a process where various materials are recycled and laid/cooked into sheets. The handling and cutting and trimming sends combustible dust everywhere, so my firm was called in to replace the old dust collection system. Theirs is a very clean factory now: once I had a proper system designed, it started picking up the product, so the client had to install caster-rollers to hold the sheets down on the conveyors.
Sagittarius: Queen of Cups reversed – Distinguished woman but one not to be trusted; perverse woman; vice, dishonor, depravity.
Don’t taunt me, bro.
That’s pretty much been the last 6 weeks.
“ Cancer: 8 of Wands reversed – Jealousy, internal dispute, *stingings of conscience*, quarrels.”
Spankings it is then!
Naughty naughty bad Zoot.
Take off, hosers
Fans in Montreal loudly booed the U.S. national anthem prior to the 4 Nations Face-Off game between the Americans and Canada on Saturday night.
It’s the second time “The Star-Spangled Banner” drew that reaction in two games the United States has played at the NHL-run international tournament.
And it came after public address announcer Michel Lacroix asked the crowd, in French and English, “In the spirit of this great game that unites everyone that you kindly respect the anthems and the players that represent each country.”
This time, far more of the fans at Bell Centre booed than Thursday night before the U.S. beat Finland. The booing began when warrant officer David Grenon of the Royal Canadian Air Force Band started singing and lasted the entire length of the song.
It doesn’t say who won the game.
“Bank card”
Should I be concerned? Elated?
Seriously? 😂🤣
All I get from the attention to this phenomenon is that their feckless leaders tell them what to think and they clap like seals. Somehow I doubt that is the intent NPR had in mind.
Not really:
We knew it was going to happen,” U.S. defenseman Zach Werenski said after beating Canada 3-1 and quieting the crowd of over 21,000
Ah. Well I’m allergic to NPR so there is that.
it is perfectly acceptable for teachers, preachers, and parents to explain proper decorum to ten-year-olds
Let’s see how U.S. fans react when next a Canadian NHL team plays here. Can pretty much guarantee how Flyers fans will behave.
The tourney moves to Boston for the final 3 games.
Astrology is not really about precision, is it? And all this time I thought….
no notes, especially at this latitude; I peaked during the Reagan administration and will need to be put down shortly
I’m still waiting to peak.
I might have missed it.
funny
but there’s good news: you’re 500 miles north of me and not blond….hang in there
You can never reach peak peak.
Well… not anymore.
What? You don’t look like your avatar? Jesus, I feel like I’ve been lied to. Next you’re going to tell me that TOK doesn’t look like Mo.
Grummun:
I can say that the Other Kevin and Mojeaux do not look alike.
We can’t all be Helen Mirren.
Martha Stewart seems to be carrying the tartan forward still
but we blonds will never eclipse the records set by Sofia Loren
Well, we redheads go from pale with ginger hair, to ruddy with white hair.
So, a wash?
Fellow soulless redhead here.
Yes, my hair is turning white. Neither red hair nor white hair take color well, especially mine, which is coarse, dry, and with no porosity whatsoever.
HOWEVER, though what I see is mousy dirty hair of no particular color, other people see as blonde with the cleverest highlights.
I decided to embrace my white hair because every color I’ve tried that was not my natural color has made me look awful. NOTHING goes with my skin except what God gave me. White hair will have to do, I guess.
Well, we are soulless. And they can’t kill us, as we refuse to dye.
Or pale with no hair but a now white beard.
That right there, well-played.
(Dad’s mostly bald and his side *all* was, but Mom’s dad, first generation Polish in Chicago, illustrious, full-white locks. My salt n peppa phase is going to be glorious. Oddly, I have a few stray red hairs growin’ on my face. No redheads in our history to our knowledge.)
This you, Beau?

Nope, sorry. Lack the ruddy complexion, the beard length, the cheerful outlook, and the … gown?
Trump renames all the nations in the world:

I remember Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick, and Tony Stewart’s rookie years. Now they’re all grey-haired TV commentators.
I remember ROTY Ricky Rudd
Clint Bowyer in the booth – he’s a hoot. All my favorite drivers are from the Midwest, turns out.
Trump with his granddaughter at the race
Is that the granddaughter the Bidens refused to recognize? 😉
LOL
Trump limo leading the field onto the track
Trump on the radio talking to drivers
“You people” LOL
Hoping Bubba Woke-ass blows up his engine in lap 1
You can tell Harvick and Bowyer are green at the broadcast booth game
Fuckin rain
“Leo: 7 of Wands reversed – Perplexity, embarrassments, anxiety. It is also a caution against indecision.”
When it comes to making decisions, I frequently procrastinate. So for me it amounts to the same thing.
A mostly unpleasant chapter has closed on my life. A cop car came up the driveway yesterday when I was away, causing my wife much anxiety, as we have been having a spot of friction with a neighbor. It turns out that they were bringing news that my estranged brother had died and I had been listed as next of kin (why not his daughter, I dunno). He’d led a hard life, mostly his own fault, lots of drugs and prison time with dementia towards the end, and any affection for him had been burnt away long ago. It’s a loss, but more like finding an newly-fallen old tree lying next to a well-used path; you’re sad it’s gone, but it’s no longer a source of anxiety, as he had been for my parents (and I) for many years. At least his daughter and I no longer have to worry about him showing up unexpectedly.
When I get news like that, I always try to remind myself how fortunate I have been in my life. I hope Mojeaux that you will be able to resolve your mother’s situation without any additional stress and strife than what you have undergone or are expecting.
“Taurus: Ace of Cups reversed – House of the false heart, mutation, instability, revolution.”
This sounds unpleasant. (Suppose I *win* the revolution, however…) The disability lawyers texted me to arrange a time to talk, something I didn’t expect, certainly not on Sunday nor this quickly. OTOH, I’m going to send a few copywriting applications showing up in my inbox and widen my net to include part-time. (One interesting one is a remote, well-paying Audio Description Writer. Write descriptions for blind people to fill-in the gaps.) Dad’s set a deadline for me, which I agree with, but I also told him if I could start work today I would, though I have no wand to wave. (Well. I don’t exactly *wave* that wand. It rhythmically asserts itself to get *my* attention. Wily bastard.)
@Mo: Good to hear about your mom, and I’m sorry about your brother.
Virgo: 8 of Swords reversed – Disquiet, difficulty, opposition, accident, treachery; what is unforeseen; fatality.
Ive got 2 testing projects this week. That should be fun.
I’ll take it.
That’s a dollar per mile, changed to $21,000 per mile
An Indiana pizza delivery man has been left stunned after a police officer raised $42,000 for him when a wealthy local only tipped $2 to deliver a pie in a snowstorm.

“An Indiana pizza delivery man has been left stunned after a police officer raised $42,000 for him when a wealthy local only tipped $2 to deliver a pie in a snowstorm. Connor Stephanoff, 20, of Brownsburg, parked his grandma’s car at the top of the hill and made the nearly mile-long trek to deliver a pizza to a home down the road in the ritzy neighborhood that had been blocked by a bus.. ..The next morning, Craig’s video had 20,000 views and people were asking for ways to donate to Stephanoff, so the officer started a GoFundMe, which has since raised more than $42,000.
‘It shows how much this world is yearning for kindness,’ Craig said.”
People being inherently (mostly) good is important to remember. That’s about 30min SW of me. Glad to know that though IN gave us Jim Jones and (helped with) the KKK, we’re a shockingly nice bunch, all things considered. (Ya hear much more about shitty PA, NY and CA folk. I’m not asking the world.)
