Survey says I’m a Paleolibertarian bitches. That means I eat “L”ibertarians for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Soave tastes a little fruity. Wait a minute, that doesn’t sound quite right…

This has been the best dozen days in politics I can recall.

    • Spudalicious

I knew he was going to move fast, but this is amazeballs.

      • SarumanTheGreat

Milei showed the way. Act fast, furious, keep the initiative no matter what. The GOPe spent too many decades reacting.

      • UnCivilServant

I worry about when the timer runs down if A: the fraud machines haven’t been destroyed, and B: the ideological chokehold on disengaged members of the population hasn’t been broken. In such a scenario, we’re back on the road nobody wants.

      • Jarflax

There is no such thing as permanence in politics. Enjoy the moment and remain vigilant.

      • R C Dean

Yeah, UnCiv, I haven’t really heard anything about ballot integrity (yet?). The Constitution does give Congress authority to regulate federal elections. But, Congress. . . .

As far as the ideological chokehold goes, we are watching a preference cascade in action, which goes a long way. He is also going after the massive leftist funding stream from government, which is nice.

    • Mojeaux

Talk about on-the-job training. Might have taken 4 years, but he learned his lessons well.

      • juris imprudent

It is amazing after what we watched his first time around. And I admit, I doubted he had it in him.

      • Aloysious

All I have to add is maybe getting shot changes a guy?

I never thought for a moment that Trump would be like this.

      • Animal

Yes, getting shot changes a guy. Can confirm.

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their bureaucrats.

    what could be better?

      FEAR?

    • UnCivilServant

Do not overestimate the damage done, they’re not crushed yet.

      • dbleagle

Amen UCS. This isn’t even the first volley in what will be a sustained fight.

I just dropped by, and no one was there. I’ll check back in a bit.

    Inconceivable

The United States wants Ukraine to hold elections, potentially by the end of the year, especially if Kyiv can agree a truce with Russia in the coming months, President Donald Trump’s top Ukraine official told Reuters.
Keith Kellogg, Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, said in an interview that Ukrainian presidential and parliamentary elections, suspended during the war with Russia, “need to be done”.
“Most democratic nations have elections in their time of war. I think it is important they do so,” Kellogg said. “I think it is good for democracy. That’s the beauty of a solid democracy, you have more than one person potentially running.”

It should be an interesting campaign.

    • SarumanTheGreat

It’s a trap for Zelensky; If he refuses to hold elections, he’s a dictator and it will be Trump’s excuse to stop all funding. If he holds it, IMO the only way he can win without massive coercion and cheating is if he’s the only one on the ballot. And it won’t be Nulanders this time around for poll watchers.

      • juris imprudent

Nah, he just makes sure that anyone who files to run against gets sent to the front. First few will pass as “what a remarkable coincidence”.

Trump’s Presidential Library will be incomplete without the full set of The Hat & The Hair.

Given there’s nothing left to squeeze, I guess Biden’s Presidential Library will be a few shelves at the Dover Public Library.

Don’t take your kids/grandkids to Gropy Grandpa Joe’s Story Hour.

    • creech

No contribution from me. If the Canada tariffs stand, Trump has just removed about $1K per month from my retirement income.

      • Gustave Lytton

And to think that you had that big fat check all made out and ready to sign.

      • creech

LOL, GT. That $1K monthly will come out of my discretionary spending so less eating out, entertainment, vacation, rides in the countryside with no particular place to go, charities, book sellers.

      • Gustave Lytton

Sorry creech. Sucks all way around. Hopefully it will be a temporary hiccup.

      • DrOtto

I have a good friend who works for Petro Canada or whatever they became after they privatized. They’re freaking out because the tariffs are going to make their already expensive oil product more expensive. There goes his 21 holidays off per year.

  8. rhywun

“We’re going to exchange them for your criminals.”

Yeah, I was hoping we didn’t have to release hundreds of terrorists to get six Americans back.

    • Suthenboy

The Israeli hostage deal is a disaster. Unless there is some kind of plan I dont know about like letting the get back in front of the IDF guns this deal is worse than shit.

      • rhywun

I suppose Netanyahu caved to the pressure to get some hostages back.

  9. rhywun

Trump has claimed that Panama allows China to station troops on the canal. While that is false herpity derpity doo

I bet one Trump steak that he’s right.

    • Brochettaward

There’s just a lot of nerve for some journalist to claim something that I guarantee they haven’t actually did any journalisming on beyond a Google search is wrong or “false.” As if China and Panama would come out and just admit to that in the first place. It’s the sort of thing a president may actually know a lot more about than your pompous little ass (speaking of the journalist, of course) given the intelligence he has access to.

It’s the sort of thing that if Biden claimed it, they’d take as gospel without so much as an attempt to confirm.

    • juris imprudent

While the abrupt and public expressions of displeasure regarding Panama and the canal risk undermining hemispheric stability, legitimate concerns about growing Chinese influence over the canal demand Washington’s attention and warrant a measured, diplomatic approach.

And not exactly a Trump friendly source – Atlantic Council.

      • Fourscore

I don’t think the Canal is any kind of bargain.

Trump’s tariffs will create a lot of economic upheaval. The US debt can’t stand too much agitation if the debt holders decide to call in their markers.

Failure to follow through will make Trump look weak and foolish.

    • rhywun

I found it on one of the comedy channels a couple years ago and watched all of them.

lol @ the flaming queen anti-sex husband.

      • DrOtto

      • DrOtto

        I meant Marcus…

  10. Brochettaward

I HAVE NOT YET BEGUN TO FIRST

  11. KSuellington

Im not thrilled about the tariffs on Mexico and Canada. Seems stupid and counterproductive and in the case of Canada I doubt they are negligent in letting drugs pour over the border, or any more negligent than the US in that regard.

    • KSuellington

Meant to add, that just about everything else T Dog has done has been just fine to great with me. Solid first 10 days overall.

    • Spudalicious

Yeah, I’m on the fence over the tariff thing, but I’ll wait to watch what happens.

    • rhywun

It would help if the US wasn’t such a gigantic consumer of drugs.

I don’t have any easy answers in this area – and while I sympathize with the “legalize them all” idea, I don’t see that fantasy stopping China from flooding the country with cheap, nasty fentanyl. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      • kinnath

Darwin says that problem will solve itself.

      • KSuellington

It’s my least libertarian opionion, but I am not in favor of legalizing most opiates or methamphetamine. I dont beleive there are a set number of drug addicts in a country and there are some substances that are very good at removing agency very quickly. China has a long memory and is enjoying its payback on the West for the Opium Wars (as well as enjoying the fuckton of dollars it brings in). There is more of a case to levying tariffs against China. Against Canada it is pretty ridiculous. Lets see how it plays out.

      • Evan from Evansville

If folk can buy booze, there’s no reason the others shouldn’t be. Drink it fast enough, a fifth could easily kill many/ most adults, so I don’t see how safety comes into play. Clean drugs and no black market violence solves much. Then, culturally: Without the illegal thrill, hopefully it gets to be more German, with drunkenness highly looked down upon. OTOH, many Korean businessmen are, uh. Frequently loaded in broad daylight, and no one gives a shit. Asian Irish, yeah?

I’m not sure of fentanyl’s full high. I thought it was mostly used to cut other drugs. They should all be legalized and take us back to the glory days of the 1890s or so. People had plenty of drugs, Heroin, coke and more, but there wasn’t cartel crime associated. Shit back then was safe and pure. A Coke back then had a tenth of gram of coke in it. I don’t recall any hoopla nor outrage, no more than ‘always’ constant hooch. I don’t think meth would be nearly as popular if coke were legal. Meth’s groggy.

I did have a false positive for fentanyl once; that took some ‘splainin’ and a retest.

      • Q Continuum

Pure principle = legalize everything to undercut the CCP and cartels’ profit margins.

Realistic = recognize that rampant addiction actually causes some pretty major downstream social pathologies and deal with accordingly.

“Deal with” = aggressive treatment of addicts, including involuntary commitment to long-term rehab; three strikes for small time dealers (give them a chance to straighten up before throwing the book at them), summary execution for kingpins and cartel leadership.

NB: we’re rapidly headed at least to that last clause with the designation of cartels as FTOs.

      • rhywun

Clean drugs and no black market violence solves much.

Yes but IMHO China has every interest in selling us dirty drugs.

      • Mojeaux

I’m so fucking sick and tired of fentanyl being the dirty word in pain management. The only reason I could get my mother a fentanyl patch is because she came home on hospice and hospice pretty much has carte blanche.

She was going to the pain clinic for months doing this for her chronic pain and that for her chronic pain and something else but this isn’t covered by Medicare and I kept asking, “Why can’t you give her a fentanyl patch?”

        NO.

“Why not? You’re a pain clinic.”

        ” … Um … uh … Well, shesallergictoopiatesanywaysoshutupandgoaway.”

“Fentanyl’s a different animal and you could try her on anti-nausea meds.”

        NO.

        Hospital/PCP: NO.

“But she can’t pUt In ThE wOrK if she’s in this much pain.”

“She just needs to have some willpower!”

“Fuck you, lemme talk to the palliative care people.”

        *squawk*

Fentanyl patch obtained. Finally. Now that she’s got it (yes, she needs anti-emetics, but it works with fentanyl and doesn’t work with any other opiates or narcotics), even though she’s off hospice and on home health, she can keep it. If nothing else came of all this bullshit, she finally got decent pain control.

      • rhywun

        @Mo

        Ugh.

Meanwhile I can likely easily obtain some from one of the junkies across the street but it might put me in the hospital.

      • Evan from Evansville

@Mo: Yep. Pain meds have to be cajoled. It’s frightful. There’s a damn good reason morphine+ are so fucking ‘precious.’

They. Fucking. Work. Ain’t nothin’ like ’em, and it’s purposefully cruel to withhold, regulate them away from those in such pain. As always, regulators act with their ‘pure intentions.’ Fuckers wouldn’t wanna see my ‘creative a̵c̵c̵o̵u̵n̵t̵i̵n̵g̵ prescribing’ in regards to injuries they may have suffered. That’d be frightful.

    • Urthona

      Very very stupid.

I kept waiting for the negotiation and it never happened.

    • KSuellington

That is more or less where i am on the issue Q. In principle, yes, all drugs would be legal. In practicality i wee that as highly costly. Deal with it as you mentioned.

  12. kinnath

Don’t know if this was covered earlier:

    https://apnews.com/article/dc-crash-helicopter-airliner-army-pilot-b0c6a0538fd5045e87e506bb1a135406

The Army on Saturday released the name of the third soldier who died Wednesday when an Army helicopter collided with an American Airlines jet near Reagan National Airport in D.C.

Cpt. Rebecca M. Lobach, of Durham, N.C., served as an Army aviation officer since July 2019. Her awards include an Army commendation medal and an achievement medal.

In a statement released by the Army, her family said she was a distinguished military graduate in ROTC at the University of North Carolina, and was in the top 20% of cadets nationwide. They said she had more than 450 hours of flight time, and earned “certification as a pilot-in-command after extensive testing by the most senior and experienced pilots in her battalion.”

Let’s let Ozy weigh in on this, but 450 hours seems low to me.

    • Tres Cool

Thats 10 weeks of flying time, right? I think for fixed wing its like 200 or 250. Rotary is less.

    • Gustave Lytton

Singular ARCOM and AAM as a CPT with 5.5 years? Ok….

Post flight school, those hours look closer to bare minimums. Not really surprising for a commissioned officer in Army aviation.

      • dbleagle

I agree with Gustave here. One ARCOM and one AAM in over five years? That is just two PCS awards and mediocre ones at that.

    • rhywun

OMG that takes me back! 😂🤣

Im in Indianapolis tonight, I am driving a 2024 ford Uhaul, in the twenty foot variety. A fucking nice hauler, very impressed even without diesel power.
At the local liquor establishment my needs were met, however!
I pay 7$ for a pint of Fireball and 20 for a handle. Here they want 10 bucks a pint, what the fuck Indiana?

    • Evan from Evansville

Huh. Where are you driving through to?

I think your determination to stick with Fireball maaaay be part of the problem. Me no understand that bizarre witchcraft.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

Im driving a 20′ truck from Manistee MI to OKC for Sister. The truck is real nice. I use gas, milk, beer and fireball to gauge the price of things in my travels across the great U S of A. The more you know…..

    • DrOtto

  14. Yusef drives a Kia

    I play disc golf
    I like beer
My course has no good place to take a leak
Answer, a beer ans fireball shots

    • Yusef drives a Kia

Fireball is an easy shot as opposed to vodka or tequila, although some guys do bring those types

      • pistoffnick (370HSSV)

No. Fireball is not an EASY shot. Fireball is deceptive. Fireball will attempt to make you perform above your abilities. Do not trust it.

Vodka will say, “This is kinda sketchy.” Fireball will say say , “Send It!”, despite your actual abilities to “send It”.

        Trust vodka.

    • Evan from Evansville

Why not just mix, especially if it’s for while you’re playing? Shots are baffling to me. Oddly, I did like shots of Jager. Not as alcoholy and enough odd flavor to make it ‘an event.’

Now, ya could be playing a drinking game, so I’m with ya. As for the piss, master the Piss ‘n Walk. I’m incredibly glad Dad taught me that. I once won a bet against a friend who didn’t believe I could pull it off. We were walking home from the bars near City Hall, and I won $10, IIRC. I’ve also pissed (into bottles) while driving before, but my car has caught fire a couple of times, as well. I know the spark was from me smoking, and it wouldn’t shock me if toilet paper, paper towels, napkins etc was what lit. I was on I-164 for one of those. That was weird, wild stuff.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

Get the Net, Fireball is a mixed drink, thats why I buy them. We arent looking to get wasted playing our sport, but a shot so if a fun addition

      • Evan from Evansville

I was imagining a drinking game where the losers of each hole took a shot, or something similar. More I think, the *winner* should be the one to drink the shot, his prowess offset by the power of free booze. John Daly may be good at this game, in his version.

It’s also great if the winner is an asshole drunk. That way(!), he’s well-sloshed by the last hole. It’s simply so much easier to take his car afterward. Ya can also throw the fight and get him good ‘n hammered so he sleeps extra-long good fun, non Asian whore variety, to ease your escape. (Well. Ya can also throw in an Asian whore, if ya really wanna.)

I played a shitload of ‘ultimate’ frisbee in high school, but I disc golfed with bro a bit. He has a friend who plays competitively. I don’t know him well, but I’ve see his FB posts ‘n such. Where are you trying to play tomorrow?
        https://www.pdga.com/player/70039

  15. Yusef drives a Kia

    Dude! Trust vodka?
Or any alchol for sport? Not if your serious about it.
I appreciate the advice but it a bit late for this old man, remember, you are still but a child amonst the Glibs, thats why we love you

  16. Yusef drives a Kia

Evan, We usually indoctrinate about one out of 10 folks just like you, young ones. That said, You are truly fucked up in the headd. You Defy authority, and adapt to free markets. And as far as assets go well, your mileage may vary.

    • Yusef drives a Kia

But it makes you One of Us!

    • Evan from Evansville

Who’s indoctrinating who in the what where, now?

I’m well-aware of me/ my situation and overall fucked-uppery. I’m worried about much, but I’m happy I remain persistently chipper. Next job starts this week, really, at a vet/kennel. That’ll be interesting, though it’s probable purgatory until I find something more suited. Possibility of a big upshot though. Hrm.

I can’t confirm whether Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir of “Of Mnsters and Men” isa an American citizen and thus exempt from Trump’s banishment, I would love to say that Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttirhad citizenship on account of being the mother of an American child, ideally in which I implanted in her, alas, I cannot as I have not. I will update these forums at such time as it becomes true that Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir is an American citizen or Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir is considered for citizenship, such as Trump rightly annexes Greenland, otherwise.

  20. DrOtto

Lightening crashes is an ode to legal abortion, but I have to admit, it kind of rocks. Appropriately enough, my wife had a coworker who was fucking around on her fiance with another coworker and that was the cheater couple song. I was lucky enough to attend the wedding. Yes, I requested that song for “a special someone”.

Hoping we’re done with snow for the season down here in SW OH, but not holding my breath.
