Seriously, Team Blue is so retarded these days, I don’t know how they remember to breathe. Trump is a fascist dictator because he’s reducing the size and scope of government, and returning power to the states and the people. Whut? And Dem governors are furious.
Time for some retarded Links?
Nope. No cringe at all in “impregnated person”.
We can only hope he converts to Catholicism before he passes.
What was that about retardation?
There is no fraud or corruption in the federal government.
Retardation? Maine says “hold my beer”.
And on the flipside, “winning”.
Okay, I can only take so much. It’s a beautiful day here in Manly Time. Peace out, Glibbies.
Yes, Boise is in the best time zone.

Nope, none at all. Before CFPB it was total anarchy in banking, no licensing, no regulation, nothing.
Funny how after the CFPB came into existence we get all sorts of unbanking reports, and nary a gov’t pushing back on it…
Donald trump is a fucking idiot and I don’t for a second regret shit-talking him these last many years.
But he’s my fucking idiot and I don’t for a second regret shit-talking him these last many years.
(He’s gonna fuck it all up and I don’t mind being right about being right about him.)
I have no idea what is supposed to be going on there.
zOMG even his minions hate him!!!
?
Astroturf. They were imported and paid. Harry Reid was the worst about that. He pulled that shit all of the time yet when some reporter went to Nevada and specifically to his hometown of Searchlight they could not a single person that did not spit and slam their doors in the reporter’s face when asked about Reid. It is SOP for the left and they all do it.
Guarantee you that is what this was.
Yeah. This is going on across the country, and it’s all coordinated.
Flinging poo, you say?

Also, Musk emailed all fedgov employees today and said that if they don’t respond with an explanation of what they accomplished last week, that will be taken as a resignation.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/elon-sends-wild-saturday-harassment-email-to-all-federal-employees/ar-AA1zAvqQ?ocid=msedgntp&pc=HCTS&cvid=6f6aad92d94b4ca39e7120d842a7d8c6&ei=12
Today, as in Saturday? As in a day I am off and not required to do anything?
*checks email*
Well…look at that. How to respond.
Deadline is Monday 1159pm EST.
Snarky response or real response…this is what is battling in my head
“Sorry, too busy for this bullshit.”
Who the fuck is going to read those millions of emails?
No really. We received an email in Office Space fashion to explain what we did. I can. But seriously, this is how we are going about it?
Nothing in my inbox.
And i am supposed to be escorting drill rigs along the flightline. Probably wont even touch a computer.
“Please reply to this email with approx. 5 bullets of what you accomplished last week and cc your manager. Please do not send any classified information, links, or attachments.
Deadline is this Monday at 11:59pm EST”
That is what I got.
Geez, how many of you guys are Feds? How many lists are we on now?
All of them, Suthen. We are on all of the lists.
We have hundreds of blue collars positions…. “i washed B52 tail number XXX for the entire week”.
I agree with the goal, questions about the execution.
They are looking for people who don’t answer, to add to the corpse wagon.
Also, they are building a file for people they decide to fire later.
When it comes to massively downsizing bloated organizations, I think Elon brings some expertise.
I get that..but what if I was on leave? Sick? Normal day off? Etc. Execution is poor.
Bring out your dead [wood]!
Sounds like you’ve got all day Monday to respond before the deadline.
Elon is an asshole who likes to play games. Where’s my shocked face at?
Management version of “sphincter sez what?”.
Alright….am I required to respond to this? Do I need to justify to anyone else other than my manager, the things I do?
You do now, gov work is what it is now….
Though I get a check from the Feds I’m not an employee and I won’t be explaining what I did last week, rather easier to what I didn’t do.
I didn’t do anything. I’m also not resigning, though I am resigned not to do anymore this week coming as well.
Retardation: A Celebration.
I thought this was a link to the Zoom
That right there? Damn funny.
*polite clappery*
A link to the Zoom, you say?
Love to join but I have to figure out the Grok bot that is questioning my job skills.
i lied. Im on early
glol.
Lol. Well done.
I miss that show.
My Bro and SiL’s friend had a slightly pro-Trump FB post. Pretty much making fun of Team Blue. Not over-the-top. I watched the comments stream in, and I was wise not to chime in . Bro’s fam was over today and they brought it up. I again, correctly, remained silent. Bro said he officially “defriended” him. “See ya, I guess,” he said about his old childhood friend.
I *did* say “Well, Wes is a doctor. They’ve traditionally been more ‘conservative.’ “This isn’t conservative! This is something… altogether different.”
The convo moved on. This is one of the reasons I purposefully didn’t vote in Trump-safe Indiana. Political religion again ‘tearing’ families apart. I’m not in a position to dare poke any nest. Mom *and* Dad have told me not to say anything pro-Trump, with their Serious Voices. I daren’t say *anything* ’round Colin, that Deep Blue Blood. Simplest confusion: I can’t see how folk, who only realized at the last moment that Biden was a walking corpse his whole term, deal with getting played so hard. (Narrator: The religious don’t voluntarily convert.) Sad!
I don’t get how anyone can be that broken.
People hold different opinions, it’s just some politician.
I think it’s the same ‘part of the brain’ religion occupies. Self-flagellation was popular for a long time for a not-insignificant number of people. I think ‘guilt,’ particularly White Guilt, plays the same demoralizing purpose in the West. Cuz they’re pussies, it’s all ‘symbolic blood’ they shed, with no skin in the game, other than The World’s Livelihood (somehow?!) depending on it!!@! They battle for their very soul, seemingly.
They’ve invested too much of themselves into it. Just like ya can’t (meaningfully) convert me to a Yankees fan, they ain’t gonna ‘see the light’ and rethink things. Admitting they got played is far too painful and important to hide. Otherwise, they admit defeat, which nearly everyone avoids. My fam’s True Blue and it keeps me muzzled. Or I politely muzzle myself and merely observe.
tl;dr: They can’t admit they were foolish enough to fall for such lies. Hence their revolt at anything resembling constitutional actions, let alone the damn *truth* about DC bein’ far too big for its britches.
I have no use for fools, nor any patience.
This. My family holds all kind of views and nobody gives a shit.
Mom voted for both Teams when I was growing up. Nobody cared.
The extended family is mostly progressive or Democrat. They’ve cut off members of the family for being too conservative, and complained about “political talk” that broke the narrative (while I have an uncle who e-mails out 4 MB emails of prog talking points weekly). As the uneducated (college drop out) and younger (there’s only a handful of cousins younger than me) cousin, they assume I’m progressive by default. If they learned I leaned an-cap, there would be much reframing and reformulations in their minds.
To family?!
That’s nuts. Talk about crazy uncles who ruin Thanksgiving….
I purposely rub my mothers face in it. “No, Mom, I did it because of you!”
You may not live with your parents and I believe you’re quite employed. (Tho that kinda changed for me today…) ‘Twould be mighty unwise for me to even think of poking their political religion and Federal apostles. It’s best to (mostly) remain silent so I can extract as much ‘true’ thought from them as possible.
They know that I’m a quasi-libertarian and very pro- Ron Paul. However, I haven’t specifically told anyone (‘cept maybe Mom) that I didn’t vote in ’24 (they know I didn’t in ’20 – I was still in kinda a half-coma), and they certainly don’t know *why* I chose not to. I was convinced “If Harris wins, Harris will ensure the US is fucked; if Trump wins, DC will ensure the US is fucked.” Indiana was safe. I got a day off while they put on their goddamn I VOTED! stickers for ostensible adults. So far, I can’t express how erect my support is for Trump’s use of Executive Power.
I live with my vary liberal wife, and am retired due to medical issues on her suggestion.
Love is stronger than bullshit.
Agreed. I’m afraid in the current environment I’m in, it’s wisest for me to bend the knee to the family that’s always (non-politically) supported me. I am decidedly unhappy with said affairs. Regardless, there’s zero to gain from commotion (with them). No one’s gonna convince me to be a Cardinals fan, especially. Same with them. Until it bites them. I bide my time. I am helping Munchkin write her arguments to her people in MN. She’s especially impatient for fools, biting and stiletto sharp. It greatly pleases me.
(Fucking “bide” just got auto-corrected to “Biden.” CWAA.)
I couldn’t care less about people’s opinions and would only cut them out under extreme circumstances. People who do otherwise are religious fanatics with broken brains.
I see you’ve met some of the people I used to know.
So much this. A good friend, until he passed in 2023 of cancer, was an avowed socialist. We took our political shots at each other, but were friends until the end.
Musk’s weekend email is also a way to weed out people who don’t check work email on the weekend.
Sowell said something like people who get a sense of moral superiority from their ignorance cannot be swayed with facts or logic. That explains a lot, sort of like what Sinclair(?) said about it being impossible to get someone to understand something when their salary depends on them *not* understanding it. A Cherokee(?) proverb phrases it more colorfully: it is impossible to wake someone who is pretending to be asleep.
Majority aren’t required to check email on weekends….
What is the point in a late Friday/Saturday email?
Try a call on Saturday night for a refrigeration call. Im off, am I obligated to answer? Private sector? Fuck yes,
You guys make laugh, spoiled brats,
At my first engineering job, I got a call at 3 AM to come in and fix the centrifuge that had just broken down.
I had a few other late night and weekend calls at that job.
Yep. It all depends on what my responsibilities are. I’ve drawn lines several times with work for calling me when I wasn’t on call. And I am never checking messages if I”m on PTO.
PTO? Whats that?
Don’t get me wrong. I respond on weekends to call backs. We all do.
To administrative bullshit it’s nonsense
Cherokee phrase, stolen. Gorgeous.
What’s the point? It’s just the Bobs’ question. They have until 11:59pm on Monday. Five short bullet points of what… “do you do here?” If that’s hard to come up with during a full work day, if they don’t wanna start now, uh…. What is it…that they *do* there?
It legit may have been written to emulate the Bobs.
As a Bob I have always self explained my value, thats where the cash flows. If you cant explain, you suck and deserve to be let go.
/Evil Libertarian
1. Respond to r-tarded emails
2. Fill out stupid time sheets
3. Attend pointless meetings
4. Take bullshit phone calls
5. Do some real work
@rhy: Now, I think that honesty would pay off. Call you in and ask you who/what/how is wasting time/money.
That’s another curious spoke in the wheel. Could further point out, and get multiple-source quotes, how fucked certain things are and how. Tee! (I know this won’t end exactly like I’d like, but DAMN it’s good for all the Right People to be terrified. I’ve never been this excited re: DC.
I’m actually on disability, so not doing any of that.
I wonder if Elon will accept that answer.
If even only 10% of the fedgov workforce ends up being fired, when things don’t fall apart, it will be proof that it was bloated as hell the whole time.
A 90% cut would mean a return to sanity.
I love that hiding the bathroom key at Yosemite is their trump card. It spells out the whole stupid mess perfectly.
But but but don’t you see? Now they’ll be forced to spend $20 on a lockpicking set from Amazon and send some derelict like me out to use it!
And that derelict won’t work for free. No sir. He’ll demand at least a 6-pack of beer and a pizza. Where are Trump and Musk gonna get the money for that, smart guy?
Im so glad to be out of the rat race. I still work, but at an enriching job that actually means something to people. Semi retirement is ok
I have been semi-retired since early 2023, though I will probably be getting another job soon.

Brief Italo update…catching up on reading the last week of posts here at work (not logged in at the office).
Stayed busy this month – a number of 4 day 12 hour shifts over the weekends (1900-0700, etc), as well as a brief stop for a training event in Gaeta. Gorgeous place – definitely plan to go back and visit again in the future – lots to see up there – probably better a little later in the year with more places open.
Finally got my new car around the same time I signed the lease on my apartment. Made a few poor decisions in this regard. While I did measure my garage entrance before signing the paperwork….it turns out that most car measurements online – for width – do not explicitly include the mirrors extended. I jacked up my brand new car less than a week after picking it up. (trying to juggle the car process with a *ton* of paperwork here while house-hunting – has been a real pain. – a minor incentive for going for a new car is that the dealership handles all the customs paperwork, etc) To be honest…that’s not completely out of character. My first new car – a 2008 Rav4 – I drove over a rock in the middle of the road between Chapel Hill and Fayetteville the first week and dented the wheel. So…getting my mirrors fixed – probably live with some nicks for the time being – expect to get more here in Naples over the next couple years anyways. The main issue is that I need to find someplace relatively close to my apartment where I can park.
The last week or so I’ve managed by leaving my car parked on base, walking from my apt to the train station, then taking the train to that base (that is to say…the train station a little walk from the base) and then riding the bus to the base where I work. Not really efficient – but for the last couple of weekends – since my shifts are long, I’m just paying out of pocket for a hotel room on base. Getting my steps in. I’ve also found at least one good local gym close to my new place – may have time to stop by this week. It’s not a 24 hour gym in the format of the last couple ones I’ve joined, but I shouldn’t need special hours for most of my shifts. Admittedly I do have free access to 24 hour gyms on both bases – but given where I actually work and the fact that I don’t want to come on base every time I have a day off – I think this is a good option.
Just got my household goods delivered on Thursday – should be able to start getting stuff organized and set up this next week – then I’ll probably feel more settled with a squared away unit and access to my gear (need to pick up a few more transformers from housing too). I’ve been walking around my area a lot (Caserta) – including a local grocery store that was much more affordable than I was expecting – but for some reason I’ve got some major angst about just going into a local restaurant and ordering – by myself. I didn’t have these issues in Asia but here (even with the translation app, etc), it feels that much more uncomfortable – although the couple of times I’ve done it with other folks was a breeze. Hopefully I can start interacting some more with folks from my local church, etc – I’m also working with them on a possible parking spot (even if it is a couple kms walk from the apt – it’s an improvement). There are a lot of great looking dining places that I walk by every time – but I just haven’t been able to work myself up to try em out yet….
Haven’t really watched too much the past 6 months either – other than a couple movies in theaters. Plenty of youtube and podcasts, but I don’t like streaming most movies/tv shows on my laptop screen (other than the occasional anime). I’ve built up a bit of a backlog of new blu-rays to watch (older films mostly) and a LOT of hobby material to get into in the next few months – need to pick up a new airbrush and some other materials too.
Should have most of this next week off to get organized – may have a chance to start getting some local pics posted, etc – since I got my internet hookup on Thursday as well.
– After reading Ron’s post on Friday about his ankle…I’m getting foot pain in my current boots that stays when I’m wearing sneakers or even barefoot – different than my previous foot/heel pain. I had gone without these boots for a few years at my previous reserve job (wearing some shipboard-authorized Marine boots), but now that I’m wearing them for 12+ hours at a time – even without walking that much…I’m getting a different sort of pain. These are already Wide – but the top of the side of one foot just hurts – more like it’s in the bone or something (no blisters or anything visible) – to the touch. I’ll probably try and see what I can do with a podiatry appt. On the plus side, the tailbone issue that I was previously getting periodic treatment for (and that required the waiver paperwork just to travel here) does not seem to have reappeared [yet] in the 6 months since my last shot) – guessing that may be a factor of the different types of chairs at work, but I can give it a bit more time.
– Seeing UCS post about vacation time…since I’m here by myself (re: the previous comments about eating alone, etc) – if any glibs do feel like traveling to Europe in the next few years – drop me a line here and maybe we can arrange a meet up. Things are supposed to be fairly flexible once I get situated and travel is supposedly pretty simple/affordable on my end for the most part – with enough notice for scheduling.
Speaking of government credit cards (now required for ALL servicemembers for travel, moves, etc – didn’t get my first one till late 2017 as a reservist)….I went out of my way to pay off my card in full over the course of my 2 1/2 month delay, etc…of course when I finally file my travel claim they can’t do a direct deposit refund to me because the amount is too high – but right after I get guidance on how I can request the refund (multiple smaller chunks), they mail me a check….fingers crossed that it actually shows up.
“for some reason I’ve got some major angst about just going into a local restaurant and ordering – by myself. ”
My experience in Italy was they were appreciative of my attempts to order in Italian and smoothly and graciously switched to English when I got stuck.
Even the places where nobody spoke English, pointing at the menu worked just fine.
Glad you’re settling in!
When I was in Naples, a decade ago, every waiter in every restaurant spoke English.
Don’t get worked up over your mirrors. You’re in Naples so you’ll be loosing them and your antenna sometime soon anyway.
It is a great part of Italy with lots to do and see. Check out the book “The Day of Battle” by Rick Atkinson and you’ll find a bunch of WWII battlefields in your area to explore.
Definitely check out Pozzuoli and see why she is only a 7-8 in her hometown.
She = Sophia Loren
Thanks….yeah…buying a brand new volvo (patriot military sales) may not have been the best option, but the covered maintenance and everything like that was a draw too.
A bunch of the folks I work with live in the Pozzuoli area although it is listed as an earthquake risk – they’ve had a few small ones recently. I’ll make it down there soon. A lot of other places on the list – just need to get properly settled in place – organized, etc.
Looking at fully qualifying for another watchsection that works an 8 hour shift too….maybe by the end of March. Don’t really need to get too far ahead of myself.

Saving Pie the effort: that smokeshow is Romanian
Well, the Campi Fierra is a volcano which is the source of many current road cracks, fumaroles, mud pots, and hot springs. And just outside of town is a medieval era volcano. Plus make sure to see the Roman ruin that dropped below sea level for hundreds of years and has been thrust back up so you can see the mollusk holes.
Yep, geologically you live in an exciting place.
But the food. OMG the food.
The National Museum with the Pompeiian artifacts and mosaics. One is Q worthy- Venus Callipyge, literally translates as “The Venus of the Beautiful Buttocks.”
Deepest sympathy on all lower-body pain. You should be fine in Naples. I’d imagine anyone there who can’t speak *enough* English, especially if money is involved, is likely scamming. Older folk, possibly. Anyone under 50? Hrm. But you’ll be fine. The more ya get into it the better it always is. (Asking a girl out the first time never gets *easy,* does it? Kinda takes the (wrenching) fun out of it.)
If I *had* a car, I’d find Top Gear-roads they traveled on. Best of luck to the pain, language and new digs.
I did a week at the Naval Comm Station in Naples and a week at Sigonella, circa 1969. I just can’t seem to remember what we did there or how things were laid out. We stayed in a hotel not far from the station, I remember that.
I was power generation evaluator, the other 3-4 guys on the team were doing communications. It’s been a long time…
I think the Comm station may still be here…
My apt is in Caserta to the North, I was staying at the “Support Site” at Gricignano (where the Navy Lodge, NEX, etc is), but I work at the “main” base by the Naples airport.
Thankfully there is an Navy Gateway Inn and mini-Nex, etc at the work base too – which is where I am right now.

Word. I’ve never been this politically eager. It’s hilarious it took Trump to be the roadblock on the Leftist assault. I don’t know what will happen, yet, or the final result, but The People needed this.
It’s glorious seeing all The Right people be so tempestuously childish. Fucking. Shits. They deserve their planned obsolescence.
I was active-duty military when I worked at NSA, but if I was there now as a civilian, here is how I would have responded to the Musk email:
1. translated Arabic for military intelligence purposes
2. read classified reports and intercepted documents
3. scanned intercepted Arabic audio for military intelligence purposes
4. mentored junior service members in Arabic and signals intelligence
5. analyzed enemy communication networks
I did about 10x as much work per shift as my peers in rank and my reward was getting shoved into an insane asylum.
Well, it’s not there will ever be another international crisis for which knowledge of Arabic is useful…
Oh yeah, NSA had its own in-house TV studio with a comedy show. I never watched it as it looked dreadful*. The daily puzzles, on the other hand, were enormously popular.

Productivity has nothing to do with success in military service. Until war breaks out. And then it still takes years for those who actually know what they’re doing to filter upwards.
Rochefort proved no good deed goes unpunished during WW2. NSA named their facility in Hawaii after him many years later.

a dramatic portrayal of Rochefort from the 2019 Midway movie:

I watched that movie with my dad in 2020. He asked me if I was a codebreaker. I said, no, that’s a different section. I just translate stuff. I didn’t tell anyone I worked for NSA until I got out of the insane asylum.
Real wars force the military to accept un-military like individuals with actual talent. To some extent.
Musk isn’t asking what people did, he’s asking what they accomplished. Process/motion v deliverables/progress. What you list, Derpy, is process/motion.
The Government Employee
A government employee sat in his office, and out of boredom, decided to see what was inside his old filing cabinet.
He poked through the contents and came across an old brass lamp he’s never seen before. “This will look good on my mantel,” he said, and took it home with him.
While polishing the lamp, a genie suddenly appeared. “Noble sir,” he thundered. “You have three wishes you may ask of me.” “Alright,” said the government clerk. “I would like an ice-cold Coke right now.” He gets his Coke and drinks it.
Now that he can think more clearly, he states his second wish. “I wish to be on an island with beautiful women, who find me irresistible.” Suddenly, he’s on an island with gorgeous women eyeing him lustfully.
He tells the genie his third and last wish. “I wish I’d never have to work again.” Instantly, he was back in his government office.
I’ve figured why I can’t stand AI imagery. It looks burnished. Every time I’ve seen something like it since toddlerhood it just hit me in the pit of my stomach. Nauseating.
Burnished. That’s an interesting and accurate description.
Thanks. I didn’t know what to call it but it just sprung forth this evening. I hates it I do!
“Burnished” – I was looking for what to call it that bothered me too, and that works perfectly.
Sure, too sharp with none of the minor imperfections that make reality real… burnished is a good word to use.
Beauty shops and cosmetic sales thrive on trying to hide those imperfections.

It’s pew pew day today.
I’ve set myself an impossible goal (with regards to accuracy during the qualifyers), which I will surely fail.
Wish me luck.
You’ll do well, UCS. You are ready!
Thanks.
The qualifyer itself is almost impossible to fail (4 shots of 5 on a 12×18 paper at 4 yards). My extra goal is about how many I can get in the center ring with an unfamiliar pistol using iron sights and my eyes. We don’t get warm-up shots, our first five are the qualifyers.
“ unfamiliar pistol”
How does that work?
