When racism isn’t racism. Even in Australia. Maybe they really have moved on. Lol, yeah sure. Anyway, there’s nothing going on sports-wise in the US right now, except this. But the UCL knockouts started with half of the first-round knockout first legs happening yesterday. Man City choked away yet another lead at home and are now down 3-2 on aggregate to Real. PSG rolled. As did Dortmund. And Juve stole a win over PSV. The other half are today, as is a big match on Merseyside in the EPL. And that’s it for sports.

I’m sorry, but there’s not enough room for everybody who wants to be there. And you had access to the pool video. So you suffered no harm. Oh, and what’s up with all that money you got from USAID that you never disclosed in your news articles while you covered the government who gave it to you?

Dried beans, sorghum, and rice sure do spoil fast when they’re not being given away. Or maybe this report is bullshit, as usual. I’m gonna go with the latter. Let’s read further down in the piece: While the future of USAID’s funding and its purchases from U.S. farmers remains unclear, there is currently $489 million worth of food sitting “at ports, in transit, and in warehouses at risk of spoilage, unanticipated storage needs, and diversion,” the Feb. 10 USAID inspector general report said. Oh. so it really isn’t at risk of spoilage, it just might need to be moved elsewhere because there’s a lot of it. The spoilage3 claim is just the word the media are clinging to in order to make it look like it’s something it’s not. Big surprise there.

They’re not the only ones who are baffled. Let’s just hope the Supreme Court reins in its underlings soon.

This guy is really getting the left riled up. And yet they continue to defend the indefensible ineptitude of the government.

And we didn’t even need to trade an arms merchant for him. I guess different presidents have different styles of negotiation.

In the words of Jimmy V: Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up. I wish him all the success in the world.

This is what happens when you shut off the spigot. Oh well, maybe some other nations will step up to get some of that sweet, sweet soft power I’ve been hearing so much about lately.

Crikey! What an asshole. Yet I’m somehow not surprised at all.

I’ll be quite interested to see what this turns up. Because these crooks have a lot of explaining to do.

Maybe they’ll bring back Song Of The South. That would be a big step in the right direction.

Going old school today. These guys don’t get enough love. Not nearly as much as they should. But they do from me. Enjoy them.

And enjoy this lovely Wednesday, dear friends.

I’m sorry, but there’s not enough room for everybody who wants to be there. – I thought this was about UK immigrants

punish AP for its independent journalism

      😂🤣

      • Ted S.

Yeah, look at all the people who wanted to keep Fox News out of the briefings because of wrongthink.

      • Nephilium

        Ted S.:

I remember when people were cancelled for deadnaming people, places, and things.

This guy is really getting the left riled up. And yet they continue to defend the indefensible ineptitude of the government.

I mean control by a bureaucracy is the history of most of civilization

  3. PieInTheSky

And we didn’t even need to trade an arms merchant for him. – how many arms merchants have you got left and what are you saving them for?

    • Nephilium

I’ve got a full mint condition arms merchants, I’m holding out for one of the really big Lego kits.

      • sloopyinca

The Danish don’t want arms merchants. They want the west coast.

      • SDF-7

Unlike most collectibles, mine depreciated immensely when I left them sealed in plastic.

    • Ted S.

I think that Marine Pete Hegseth was running with has some arms.

  4. SDF-7

They’re not the only ones who are baffled.

 Doesn’t seem very baffling… “Our side GOOD their side BAAAAAAD” sums up most of these rulings. Consequences? Legal precedent? Standing? Those are for chumps, man.

    • The Last American Hero

So the President can tear up contracts he doesn’t like even if the other party is in compliance?

      • WTF

Didn’t Obama’s General Motors antics establish that precedent?

      • Swiss Servator

Is there a contract between the USG and whomever, or are we looking at grants? Grants with Uncle usually have all sort of “we can hose you, ha ha” language. A contract would be more…binding, and probably have a damages clause.

  5. PieInTheSky

In the words of Jimmy V: Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up. I wish him all the success in the world.

I am not sure any kind of digital memory still works after years in a landfill

    • Nephilium

You mean this won’t be like the treasure hunters digging up Spanish doubloons off the coast of Florida in a couple hundred years?

      • PieInTheSky

it might work but it is certainly or guaranteed… of even very likely

      • R C Dean

“The council planning on closing the landfill so soon is quite a surprise, especially since it claimed at the High Court that closing the landfill to allow me to search would have a huge detrimental impact on the people of Newport, whilst at the same time they were planning to close the landfill anyway,”

It never ceases to amaze me how complacent judges are about (some) people lying to them.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

I am sure there will be bit rot due to outside storage, and all this data will be lost like… like tears in the rain.

      • DrOtto

First he has to find it. You don’t realize how many of what you are looking for are in the same garbage. I lost a wheel and had to Wade into a swamp to find it. 5 different wheels later, I did. Same thing with a missing center rim cover that fell off. I found the same design, but for an Olds 88 and not my Aurora that had lost it near the spot where mine had been lost. And it wasn’t in a dump where that problem is only going to be compounded. I wish the guy luck, he’s going to need it.

    • Rat on a train

It’s like keeping a winning lottery ticket in your pants pocket and complaining when it is ruined in the wash.

      • Fourscore

I did that with travelers checks. Fortunately there was a little residue and I was able to find enough info and got a refund on my unused checks. Whew! I needed that money too.

  6. Ted S.

In a normal world, Sam Kerr would have been brought before Harry Stone and the rest of the Night Court crew, given a £50 fine for drunk and disorderly, and spent a night in the drunk tank.

But people had a culture war interest in Kerr being found not guilty.

    • sloopyinca

My takeaway here is that in the eyes of the law, women appear to have no agency when they’re drunk. Men, on the other hand, do.

      • Certified Public Asshat

        Lesbian too, she’s basically untouchable.

      • Ted S.

        And mixed-race, IIRC.

    • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Well, there sure seems to be a lot of racism in certain “parts” of Australia.

    • DrOtto

It was the right verdict, but yes, doubt it would have been the same verdict had the tables been turned.

  7. SDF-7

they continue to defend the indefensible ineptitude of the government.

I have to assume partially because (like California) they’re captured by the PubSec union voting bloc, their most reliable. And partially of course because he’s tearing down their slop channels permeating the entire globe to siphon off as many spoils as they can from everyone else. No surprise they are squealing and ranting.

  8. SDF-7

maybe some other nations will step up to get some of that sweet, sweet soft power I’ve been hearing so much about lately.

Yeah — all the wailing about “Who is going to influence other nations through bribery if we don’t!” over the last week or so has only made me think: “The Cold War is over. Been over for a long, long time. Our closest adversary is the CCP, which we’re feeding their economy [unlike the Soviet Bloc] and they have their own issues… if they want to bankrupt themselves trying to spread their wealth around, let them. Just stop feeding their wealth pile first and let them have at it. The rest of the world needs to go back to supporting itself already.”

I don’t know about the new Golden Age of America or anything — but the days when America is everyone’s Gold Card need to stop. (Sorry Pie… looks like you needed to get your billion from USAID last month.)

    • PieInTheSky

Look you cannot afford a soft power gap. And giving money to me is the softest of power,.

  9. SDF-7

    But they do from me.

It is a brave man who shares his kinks with the world. More power to you, Sloopy.

    • sloopyinca

      ::polite applause::

      Well-played, sir.

  10. cavalier973

That $750 million isn’t at the dump. People “with intelligence” got hold of the hard drive as soon as they saw him tossing it in the garbage.

    • PieInTheSky

that sounds highly unlikely who the hell knew what was on a random drive?

      • cavalier973

*Of course* it sounds highly unlikely.

What kind of Intelligence Agent makes anything he does seem likely?

    • Rat on a train

His bud told him he mistakenly threw it in the trash but has been leading a secret life of wealth.

      • The Other Kevin

Just go through those “there will be signs” memes people make in regard to winning the lottery, and see what matches.

    • PieInTheSky

the strange thing about this is that it was supposedly worth like 700k when he threw it away I would be a lot more careful with that scratch

  11. Nephilium

Isn’t Song of the South still available outside the US? Once again showing how the US is the racist capital of the world, since we can’t have nice things?

(And I’m going to have this stuck in my head all day.)

    • rhywun

Other studios will likely follow Disney in tweaks to their DEI policies as pressure from the Trump administration grows.

OFFS. This isn’t “pressure from Trump”, it’s the country waking up from years of mass hysteria. Nobody wanted this shit but they felt pressured to play along. Well, no more.

      • DrOtto

It’s Disney admitting that people are sick of this shit and trying to turn around their faltering bottom line.

      • Nephilium

        DrOtto:

This is somewhat related (and will probably be of special interest to the Other Kevin).

      • R C Dean

There is one way the administration can pressure Disney:

Sue them for race and sex discrimination.

      • The Other Kevin

Thanks Neph, that was a great read. I’ve visited Disney parks through all of those iterations.

    • SDF-7

Yup… that was a good one.

  12. rhywun

there’s nothing going on sports-wise in the US right now

I found out yesterday there is some sort of hockey-a-thon this week. Starts tonight – Canada vs. Sweden.

    • sloopyinca

Oh yeah. Are nhl guys playing? It’s a weird time to do some exhibition tournament.

      • rhywun

It’s all NHL guys. Replaces the All Star stuff for some reason I see mentioned.

      • rhywun

        *did not see

      • Ted S.

I don’t care about the tournament, but if they’re using real hockey rules it’s a vast improvement on the All-Star crap.

      • rhywun

        real hockey rules

        Yes, they did mention that.

    • Grummun

It looks like they’re trying to duplicate the four (six?) nation rugby thing, but with hockey. US, Canada, Finland and Sweden. Funny thing, if they were picking countries by the proportion of foreign nationals in NHL teams, they’d have to include Russia, but you know that’s not happening.

      • sloopyinca

Trump will bring them back. Then we can add Norway and Russia and make it a true six nations style thing with Norway playing the role of Argentina.

      • Ted S.

        Czechia.

    • SDF-7

They’re really pushing for a Jacksonian solution. What next… “I order that Joseph Robinette Biden be re-installed into the Oval Office until I say otherwise!”?

      • cavalier973

Oh, man; I *wish* some judge would try that.

Sounds like a Babylon Bee article

  13. R C Dean

“Let’s just hope the Supreme Court reins in its underlings soon.”

    Two problems? Issues?

    (1) Time, of course. It ordinarily takes years for an appeal to get to SCOTUS.

    (2) Scope. SCOTUS can overturn one of these decisions (“Yes, of course the Secretary of the Treasury can see payment information.”) but the rest are going to remain in place until SCOTUS overturns them, one at a time.

And, of course, the underlying issue that these judges are immune from consequence for their rulings.

I still think that, for every one of these rulings, Trump should request that the judge personally review and approve each line item of the actions ordered. That would mean they don’t happen until the judge says so (flipping the delay dynamic), point out the absurdity of the ruling, and immunize him from any penalty by the court (how does a court penalize somebody for asking the court’s permission?). The downside is that this tactic would appear to validate the court’s assertion of control over the executive, but it can be done under protest/reservation of rights until SCOTUS rules.

    • sloopyinca

An extraordinary writ of mandamus could be filed with the SC to get these all decided quickly.

    • rhywun

I think Donald should ignore these pissant judges and continue his constitutionally stated leadership of the executive branch. What are they gonna do? The supremes might pay attention faster that way, too.

      • Nephilium

Do the New York approach, reissue the order with a slight change of word order, scope, or effective date.

      • rhywun

Nah, stick with the original wording – changing it would imply they were doing something wrong.

The New York approach is to impose blatantly unconstitutional stuff so they have to change the wording.

      • Drake

Site some old case like this one, appeal while ignoring or reissuing a slightly different EO.
        https://x.com/Jake_W/status/1889558411739619463

The Supreme Court will be motivated to quickly reestablish the separation of powers before there is a total breakdown.

    • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

I think that depends on the legal argument presented. If, as I think is the strategy, they present the whole kit and kaboodle as separation of powers, in the need of deciphering what the Executive Branch is, then this could be/should be cleared up right quick.

  15. SDF-7

Wait… what was that again? I can’t help but think this must be taken out of context somehow… but it sure doesn’t look that way. Also sad that one person in the crowd was like “Yeah!” — I’d like to think after it sank in a little they felt some shame… but probably not.

From the Only The Govt Could Fuck Shit Up So Thoroughly Dept: Minnesoda’s new legal pot scheme is totally fucked

    In a nutshell, instead of:

    a) Just legalizing pot and saying we won’t put anyone in jail.
    b) Or treating it like booze and letting it be regulated the same by the same bureaucracies

    They
    c) Wrote all sorts of new laws that gave licenses out based on “equity”. They also required a brand new state bureau to manage it all (the first gal proposed to lead it turned out to have been an illegal seller of pot for years so she was bounced). The equity rules also ran into all sorts of snags. First of all was the fact that another bill automatically expunged the records of anyone with pot convictions, so when the pot dealers tried to apply for the enhanced equity licenses they were denied because they couldn’t prove that they were convicted pot dealers (yes, it makes no sense why pot dealers get equity points). Then the inevitable lawsuits started about how govt equity rules were discriminatory.

The way it is now, only the Indian tribes can sell pot legally and they are building empires and the white eyes can’t get any legal licenses because of how shitty the roll out is.

    • SDF-7

Has there actually been a state that didn’t fuck it up with over-regulation yet?

      • Pope Jimbo

What makes it extra crazy is that Minnesoda had a quasi-free market for thc edibles and drinks already. They could have simply said “yeah, weed too” and left it at that.

In 2022 the DFL snuck an unnoticed amendment to some bill through that said any edible or drink with less than 5 mg of thc was legal and there were no taxes on it!. They left off the taxes to sneak it through committees. The idea was that once it was noticed there would be a special session to add them later.

The GOP controlled the Senate back then and in one of their smarter moves, the leader said “no, I don’t think this needs a special session” and so we had legal edibles/drinks with no special taxes.

Everything started July 1, when low-potency, hemp-derived edibles and beverages became legal. Although they’re capped at 5 milligrams of THC — the psychoactive element in cannabis — no limits were established on how much adults could stock up on.

In addition, the lack of state licensing requirements to produce or sell the newly legal goods means nearly anyone can manufacture high-inducing gummy bears in their mom’s basement without getting approval from any state agency.

State agency and industry officials concede that few major problems have emerged — so far — since the legalization experiment began. But public health experts fear that the state’s new lightly regulated adult-use market will do little to reduce the risks of dangerous products being ingested by unwitting consumers.

Another unique wrinkle to the new law: There are no state taxes levied on the products beyond the sales tax. That will undoubtedly also be a topic of discussion at the Legislature next year. And many municipalities will also be pushing for the authority to levy their own taxes on adult-use cannabis businesses.

So we had a completely functioning legal market that wasn’t harming anyone and they had to fuck it up.

      • Pope Jimbo

BTW, the 5mg limit was pretty much ignored. But the cops didn’t hassle anyone and no one died.

I have a good friend who gave up booze for thc drinks and is enraged now because of the cost hikes because it is now “legal” and sin taxes are applied.

    • PieInTheSky

it makes no sense why pot dealers get equity points – I mean they should be grandfathered in

      • SDF-7

It is all a product of the hash function in the government database.

      • bacon-magic

No need to get into the weeds here.

    • Rat on a train

The equity fights for casino licenses out here are especially harsh since only one is allowed in each region.

      • Pope Jimbo

In Minnesoda, only the tribes can operate casinos.

They have been wise with their money and have bought off the DFL completely. They have blocked any efforts to legalize online sports betting in Minnesoda for years. Don’t get me wrong, they’d agree to legalize it if they got a huge chunk of the money, but so far no one is wiling to let them wet their beak in the amount they’d like to be accustomed to.

    • R C Dean

Legalizing pot should have been so easy:

Treat it like alcohol – same licenses, same age restrictions, same penalties for violating the rules on selling/possessing alcohol illegally. Maybe not have the three tier distribution system for it, because that’s just stupid anyway.

That’s it. Done and dusted, easy-peasy.

      • Nephilium

We even used that terminology in the bill we passed here in Ohio.

Shocking no one, it’s much more regulated.

      • JaimeRoberto (carnitas/spicy salsa)

But where’s the equity in that?

    • rhywun

it makes no sense why pot dealers get equity points

      You know why.

We have the exact same nonsense here. The left obviously shared notes before coming up with this stupidity. As a result, the legal pot shop near me has a bunch of sketchy people hanging around all hours of the day.

      • UnCivilServant

Rhy, you forgot that Not Only did New York do the racist equity crap, it gave preference to people with prior convictions for pot over people who hadn’t been street dealing and simply wanted to get into the legal dispensory business.

      • UnCivilServant

Sorry, I should have read Jimbo’s wall o text first

        apologies.

      • rhywun

Yeah, that’s why their sketchy buddies are hanging out all day. Or they will be when the weather gets better.

      • Pope Jimbo

        UCS:

sorry for the wall of text, I get carried away on certain topics.

      • UnCivilServant

Jimbo, I’m just bouncing between work and here, and have the attention span of a gnat right now.

The boring, repeditive, but necessary audit of application role permissions just isn’t all that mentally stimulating, I just have to get it done.

      • Pope Jimbo

        UCS:

Uffda. I feel you. I’m in the middle of a huge refactoring of our roles/permissions stuff. The beauty of it is I am recreating the same bullshit we had but just more efficiently. When I was proposing this project, it was going to be a complete replacement using industry standards and reputable tools. Everyone got skittish because of the immense amount of work it would be. They decided to just fix a couple very egregious problems and port to a new db.

We’ll never get the piss out of the pool. Sigh.

I have US sports news…Last night, Mens Olympic basketball’s only 4 time gold medalist Kevin Durant became just the 8th player in the 75 year history of his domestic league to score 30,000 career points.

Trump is only doing half the job. Sorry, but to be super effective, he needs to go after a couple high profile employers of illegals.

Maybe start with this guy. He seems like a real shitbag. Pile a bunch of Fed charges onto the ones that Brother Keith has and make the point to employers that cheap labor might not be so cheap.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison announced on Tuesday he charged the owner of a sprawling central Minnesota dairy operation with four counts of felony wage theft and one count of felony racketeering.

According to the criminal complaint filed in Stearns County District Court, Evergreen Acres owner Keith Schaefer systematically underpaid workers, charged them for living quarters unfit for humans and threatened them with violence and deportation.

One worker, who is only identified by the initials N.G.C. in the charging document, started working for the company in 2021 at just 15 years old, in violation of child labor laws.

He worked upwards of 84 hours per week and was paid $12 an hour, but never overtime pay. He was charged $75 every two weeks for a small bed he shared with his father in a small house with about 10 other workers and an infestation of bedbugs and cockroaches, according to the statement of probable cause by special agent Nicholas Riba with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

N.G.C. resigned after he says Schaefer berated him and tried to strike him in the face with a sharpened pencil. Because the boy did not provide two weeks’ notice, the company withheld his last paycheck for about 168 hours of work, according to the complaint.

If employers actually gave a shit about employing illegals, maybe whole “communities” of illegals would dry up faster.

Trump is already killing them, but not fast enough.

I fucking loathe these stories about the poor, poor illegals.

      • rhywun

It’s just a fucking slap in the face to all the men – and it’s mostly men – left behind, to suck up bennies and get high all day.

      • Pope Jimbo

It used to be that on Sundays, his day off, Joaquín would pull on his favorite boots and sombrero to drive somewhere — to a restaurant or to visit family and friends who had settled in south-central Wisconsin. But ever since Trump’s election, he doesn’t leave his apartment unless he has to. Some days, he says, he feels like a mouse, scurrying downstairs to work and upstairs to sleep and back downstairs again to work, always alert and full of dread.

I’d think that wearing a sombrero around town would get your reported faster than just about anything. I can’t believe that the good proggies in Wisconsin wouldn’t drop a dime on some dude driving past with a sombrero. Especially on Cinco De Mayo or Halloween.

      • R C Dean

Of course, if Joaquin is miserable and feels persecuted here, he could always go back.

    • rhywun

Odd to see him pursue a path that would probably lead to fewer “undocumented” workers.

      • Pope Jimbo

It would be a great divide and conquer strategy for Trump.

Throw the book at assholes who are truly only a step away from being a full on slave master. Let it be known that anyone who calls the Feds and rats out an exploiter will get fast tracked to citizenship (only one rat per exploiter).

The illegals would fall all over themselves to rat out employers. Employers would drop illegals because they know they can’t trust them to keep their mouths shut.

        Perfect wedge issue.

      • R C Dean

I dunno, rhywun. You can’t extract protection money without at least occasionally burning down someone’s business.

    • sloopyinca

The feds should go ahead and raid that place and accomplish two tasks: shutting him down and rounding up a bunch of people to send home.

  23. ron73440

I didn’t think I could despise Steve Harvey more than I did, but it just went to another level.

On his radio show, which I am lucky enough to listen to in the office, they are talking about Chris Brown and why he wasn’t at the Grammys for a Micheal Jackson tribute and how “Everyone wants him to host the Superbowl halftime show.

Steve says it’s just one more example of the “hypocrisy of white America”.

That young man made a mistake and is being punished forever, while a convicted felon can be President.

Made a mistake? He beat the brakes off of Rihanna.

I miss when I thought Steve Harvey was an average banal comedian.

    • Drake

I seriously didn’t know Steve Harvey was still alive.

      • R.J.

He did a good interview with Seinfeld on comedians/cars/coffee, then his brain broke.

      • ron73440

I seriously didn’t know Steve Harvey was still alive.

        Lucky!

I “get” to listen to him everyday until 10 am.

It is the most insipid shit masquerading as comedy, with some racism thrown in just for fun.

    • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

Yeah, that dude went off the rails.

      Sad.

    • rhywun

All I know about him is he made Family Feud unwatchable.

  24. The Other Kevin

“Maybe they’ll bring back Song Of The South.”

My sister in law found two of those Little Golden Books versions of that story, I think from the 60’s, at a thrift store. I read one, it did not disappoint.

    • Drake

One of my favorite books as a kid and the first movie I saw in a theater. I believe the guy who played Uncle Remus was the first black actor to win an Academy Award. Weird that Disney memory-holed it so deep.

      • Grummun

Another example of deleting minorities from popular culture to “protect” them.

      • creech

Hattie Daniels was first black to win Oscar, for her performance as Mammy in GWTW. Of course, back in those days, she was an “actress” not an “actor” so you may be right.

    • Mojeaux

I have never seen that movie. The first movie I remember seeing was Bambi when I was maybe 5 or so? Drive-in theater, I do remember that. Didn’t faze me. Maybe I was just warped from the get-go.

      • Nephilium

I remember me and my sister seeing it in the theater during the last re-release of it. I seem to recall it was released on VHS (and aired on TV as well), but I don’t think it ever got a DVD release in the US.

      • Drake

Parts of it are on YouTube. Basically a bunch of white kids in Reconstruction South hanging around with an old black guy who tells funny stories.

  25. Ed Wuncler

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/behind-the-scenes-staff-acrimony-mirrors-public-tension-between-mayor-brandon-johnson-and-gov-jb-pritzker/ar-AA1yGRhq?ocid=BingNewsSerp

“Pritzker and his staff’s ambitions for higher office have contributed to self-importance and a hypersensitivity to criticism, some sources have said. Meanwhile, other sources have pointed to the belief that Johnson’s background in progressive organizing repels him from anything that looks like kowtowing. Combined with frequent personnel turnover, the sources claim that makes the mayor’s team disorganized and at times difficult to work with.”

If the IL GOP had any brains, they would take advantage of this discord and hatch a plan to win back some their seats in state legislature and even possibly the Governor’s seat in Springfield. But they like being the minority party with no responsibilities whatsoever.

    • Ed Wuncler

And I also hope Pritzker runs for the Democratic Presidential nomination in 2028. What the Dems really need to win is an out of touch, born with a silver spoon Progressive billionaire to help take back the White House.

JD Vance would eat this man alive because if you ever watched any of his news conferences in Illinois, Pritzker isn’t used to getting push back or challenged on his opinions.

      • creech

Debate performance doesn’t matter so much these days. One columnist said Harris “wiped the floor” with Trump. Any rational person see it that way?? And, don’t forget, Fetterlump got creamed in his debate with Dr. Oz but the half of Pennsylvanians who are fools elected him anyway.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

I think it does, now. Back when the only game was major media, then you were right. But now, with Rogan, the Free Press, Taibbi and ohers getting a much, much larger share of the market, and having a good reputation for trust, people have turned to them and are now getting a much better view of things.

But you still cannot get the partisans to come over, and Oz is still slimy.

  26. ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

ZWAK, coming at you live from your favorite Goth grandmothers river front trailer park!

The wife roped me into house sitting for her friend, who had a family emergency in Texas (is there any other reason to go there?) and could not take her two small dogs. She isn’t a grandmother, as she has no kids, but this place is like being in your high maintenance g-moms places, everything in a perfect place in the house, but appliances that don’t get used are a little sketchy, the dogs like go out to shit every five minutes, I have to cook them special food, etc.

Just fussy BS. And I hate dealing with that in my own life, just try to keep things as simple as possible.

    • pistoffnick (370HSSV)

Is there a plastic cover on the couch and chairs?

      • Mojeaux

Oh, you beat me to it.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

No, because that would ruin the crushed black velvet esthetics. And if there is one thing Goths need above all else, it is that!

But, in all seriousness, the only place I have seen that are on furniture owned by Portuguese families, and they always have plastic floor runners to match.

    • R.J.

“… who had a family emergency in Texas (is there any other reason to go there?)”

What am I, chopped brussel sprouts?

      • ron73440

Maybe not chopped, but have you looked in a mirror lately?

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

        Roasted, due to the weather.

    @Aella_Girl
we’re all dead. I’m a transhumanist, I love tech, I desperately want aligned AI, but at our current stage of development, this is building the equivalent of a planet-sized nuke. The reason is boring and complicated and technical, so midwits in power don’t understand the danger

    https://x.com/Aella_Girl/status/1889373197327540736

the word midwit is overused when twitter hookers start using it.

      • PieInTheSky

On the one hand would. On the other, since she said she has more orgies than showers in some months, I am not that sure.

      • R.J.

        Already gone

      • Suthenboy

Apparently that page does not exist

      • Sean

        Works for me.

        *shrug*

      • PieInTheSky

she has been at the twitter “data science” game for a long time. Also some years she made 800k per on onlyfans. I think she asked for something like 1600 US an hour as an escort 🙂

  28. PieInTheSky

It has been proposed that the govt set up “Relationship Hubs” to provide counselling and ‘relationship health’ check‑ups, as well as services to help avoid romance scams and hosting dating events. What do Britons say?

    Support: 50%
    Oppose: 24%

    https://x.com/YouGov/status/1889359848870969500

I want my government issues girlfriend but also a law that says no fat chicks.

    • ron73440

That’s easy Pie, we’ll agree to no fat chicks.

As soon as the agreement goes into effect, we’ll change the definition of fat to be over 400 pounds.

Then we will adjust the limit as needed.

      • Sensei

“They” identify as thin. Problem solved.

      • Rat on a train

Already changed the definition of chick.

    • R.J.

That fact that 50% of Briton wants the government to nanny their dates is disturbing.

      • Suthenboy

        Yes, but polls…who trusts them?

These govt issued gf’s…do they come dressed in long red hooded capes?

    • The Last American Hero

It’s Britain. How will you know they are fat since they all wear Burquas?

    • Ed Wuncler

It’s kind of odd that a nation that elected the Iron Lady be the Prime Minister for nearly 14 years have become such a nanny state.

      • Suthenboy

They have alternated between outright tyranny and closet tyranny since the first time the sun rose. How Thatcher got elected was always a mystery to me.

    • EvilSheldon

That’s just a horrifying level of cultural insecurity.

    • Ed Wuncler

I wouldn’t dream of asking the government to help me date. Saying that though, dating in today’s environment seems terrible. I’ve always told my wife that she needs to stay alive for us long as possible because for one, I and the kids love her madly, secondly, she manages everything in the household, and last because I do not want to go back out into the dating pool.

Most of my friends are married holy shit, the ones who are single always have horror stories about how dating is such a minefield because of how politics and online dating has created a difficult environment.

      • ron73440

I tell my wife she can’t die because I’ll get hungry.

      • ZWAK, doktor of BRAIN SCIENCE!

I tell my wife she can’t die, because I will move to Pittsburg.

Do all the maps now say “Gulf of America (formerly known as Gulf of Mexico)”?

    • PieInTheSky

No? Mine says Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America)

    • UnCivilServant

My map still has the USSR and two Germanies on it.

      Paper doesn’t get auto updates.

      • ron73440

If your map is that old, I hope you have map handling gloves.

      • PieInTheSky

I thought old paper explicitly should not be handled with gloves. I call misinformation!

      • UnCivilServant

The archivist’s answer is – It depends.

    • Nephilium

      Check for yourself.

(TL:DC – At least Google Maps changed it)

    • R C Dean

Apple Maps now does. A couple days ago, they were still using outdated terminology.

      • R.J.

I just looked on Apple Maps. Gulf of America! Fantastic!

    Parsimonious cunts

The Council on Governmental Relations, which monitors federal policy for major universities and medical research centers, stated that “America’s competitors will relish this self-inflicted wound,” urging the NIH to “rescind this dangerous policy before its harms are felt by Americans.”

The president and CEO of the Association of American Medical Colleges stated that the NIH policy would “diminish the nation’s research capacity, slowing scientific progress and depriving patients, families, and communities across the country of new treatments, diagnostics and preventative interventions.”

Research institutions, scientific societies, advocacy groups and lawmakers from both major political parties have pushed back against the 15% cap on indirect costs, urging NIH leadership to reconsider its policy.

These researchers are beavering away at the bleeding edge of knowledge, and those cheapskate MAGA Luddites are holding them back. Every single lab at every single university is bringing us to the realization of our Utopian fantasies.

  31. The Late P Brooks

A couple days ago, they were still using outdated terminology.
