Dave Made a Maze

Thank goodness I made a quick draft last week. I am swamped, this will be a very short post. I made it into new Stately R.J. Manor, set up most of the rooms, got strep throat and I really need rest. Enjoy your film!

What’s this about? From IMDB:

Dave Made A Maze re-imagines classic 80’s adventure films with a modern comedic edge and a higher body count. Dave, an artist who has yet to complete anything significant in his career, builds a fort in his living room out of pure frustration, only to wind up trapped by the fantastical pitfalls, booby traps, and critters of his own creation. Ignoring his warnings, Dave’s girlfriend Annie leads a band of oddball explorers on a rescue mission. The handmade fantasy world comes to life with puppetry, stop-motion animation, and in-camera optical illusions, re-igniting the tactile sense of wonder from the movies of our childhoods.

So watch! Or don’t! Everything is voluntary! Next week, we will be watching Son of the Blob (Beware the Blob), the movie J.R, Shot!

This sounds right up my alley.

Sort of a mix between Tunnels and Trolls and Kung Fury?

It’s an interesting film. I enjoyed it.

When people die they do so artfully, like a girl whose severed head spews red paper confetti.

      • R.J.

Probably. YouTube is the devil though.

My adblocker works on Tubi. No commercials.
I think I have uBlock origin

Technically, Brave does so automatically with no add ons. That may end soon.

I don’t know if I feel so tired because I’ve been so busy, or I’m depressed about my mom. Anyway, maybe I’ll watch this later.

    • Fourscore

My Dad’s been gone 55 years and I still miss him. My Mom, 35, while I miss her I had her 20 years longer and watched her age and it’s a different feeling.

    • R.J.

I understand. Go take a rest. I need one too.

    • Toxteth O'Grady

I saw that belatedly, CP. I’m so sorry.

Shoulda watched the movie. Watched the USMNT look like a bunch of statues – “hey mind if I stand here, maybe you’ll wander away from me so I’ll be unmarked”? No movement along the front line, none, so lots of possession, a few decent chances, that no one could convert and a late cheap goal conceded. Shit, they shouldn’t even show up for the 3rd place game if that’s all they’re going to do.

Poch screwed this one up. Weird starting line-up and bad substitutions and no half-time adjustments.

And once again, a CONCACAF ref is a disgrace, Panama committed about 40 to 50 fouls, and he called FIVE, the slimy shit.

Credit to Panama, they had a game plan, they took everything they were given and they got the win.

To be fair, losing against Central American opposition is something of a habit of ours.

I was in transit so couldn’t even watch in Spanish.

Is stately R.J. Manor anywhere near stately Wayne manor? Asking for a caped friend.

    • pistoffnick (370HSSV)

Does R.J. Manor have a “Champagne Room”?

      • Tres Cool

..or a backroom with a couch, and a sign that says “casting” ?

      • slumbrew
      • Chafed

Have I seen that couch in a movie?

      • slumbrew

It’s been in some short documentaries.

      • Chafed

I do my best to stay educated.

      • slumbrew

    • Aloysious

I bet it does have a super secret underground lair. It’s where he grows new brussel sprouts headed aliens.

Dear Powers That Be regards to curiosity this wasn’t posted ‘as scheduled:’ I was being silly with my goblin talk. I especially appreciate the devotion you have to keeping things running. Sincere thanks.

I’m finished with one draft other than adding the art. Too many good ones to pass up. That’s an article Dad wrote about me, playing ball, requiring a professional ballplayer to seek medical attention. Another one is 90% complete. The idea is to throw in (unrelated, but fun) pics from my Hong Kong and Laos adventure to add flavor.

    The movie JR, shot?

    Does it star Kristin?

    • rhywun

Yeah this one looks fun but it will have to wait for another time.

      Beirut especially for you <3

We need an instructor and I hate to stereotype but I think we need a woman. It’s just that I really, really don’t want to teach kids. And you seem… better suited.

      • groat scotum

This is such a complete thought it can’t possibly go wrong.

      • groat scotum

I mean, besides you all don’t know Beiruit and I’d have to explain

Aw fuck you all, they’re out there.

      • groat scotum
      • cavalier973

I don’t think all that footage is of Italy

  8. groat scotum

Aw not one of you knows Beirut

I’d tell you about Beirut, but you wouldn’t understand, you wouldn’t get it

    Aw well good night then

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

All I know is it’s a city with a systemic fertilizer storage issue and if you visit steer clear of the port.

Only 15 minutes in, but getting heavy Michel Gondry vibes. I like.

      Good morning.

      Woke up early.

Now I have to make sure I don’t fall asleep for the next 17 hours

    • cavalier973

Someone posted a video on X of video from (I think) the international space station.

      https://x.com/BGatesIsaPyscho/status/1902427166970700119

It purportedly shows a fly moving around in “the vacuum of space”.

Firstly, the tweext says it’s live feed from NASA, but the logo for Roscosmos is clearly displayed in the upper left hand corner.

Also, I don’t see how one can tell that the fly is actually in “the vacuum of space”.

Also, if this is a faked video (as the tweext implies), why didn’t they just edit out the fly?

      “It’s live feed, ha ha!”

If you think it’s faked, why do you accept that it’s a live feed, and not a recording?

      • Chipping Pioneer

This is exactly like CNN except in a different direction. A certain non-trivial percent of the people who watch this will accept it without question. And they get the same number of votes as you.

      • cavalier973

Fruit flies were the first living creatures that were rocketed into space. Apparently, they are useful for space experiments. The guy in the tweext ridicules the notion that it could be a fruit fly, though, because he is probably a smart guy who can’t be fooled.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Here’s the thing: half the people out there are idiots and plenty among the other half are unquestioning if something fits their narrative and that goes for all sides of the political/social coin. Best to just accept that there’s a percentage of the population that actually can be fooled every time and move on.

      • cavalier973

I’m arguing with someone who isn’t here.

      • cavalier973

        Which reminds me:

4th edition is awesome, and fun.

      • cavalier973

Deathly Hallows, Part 1 was the best of the Harry Potter movies

      • cavalier973

Raising Arizona is much funnier than Caddyshack

      • cavalier973

The Godfather is a much better movie than The Godfather, Part 2

Both are better than the book.

      • cavalier973

I’d rather listen to Van Halen than AC/DC

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

The I’d like to have a beer with that guy political angle is still being milked I see, not as effective as it used to be though.

    Good morning, Glibsters and Glibsterettes,

Only one more day before we get to enjoy the weekend.

Weather wants to be spring but still can’t let go of winter. Snow predicted for Sat-Sun.

    ***
In this video I put flies in the vacuum chamber to see if they can fly in a low pressure environment. I also show you how I got the flies in the vacuum chamber by lowering their metabolism so that they don’t move at all by putting them in the freezer. Then once in the closed chamber they warm up and come back to life. The less air there is in the vacuum chamber the higher wing speed they need to generate lift. Eventually you get to low enough pressure that the flies cannot lift off the ground! Then I talk about how we could lift off the ground if our atmosphere was as thick as Saturn’s moon Titan.
