IFLA: the “Canned October” Edition of the Horoscope for the Week of October 2

How a game begins

I will be driving/visiting/shooting for almost the entire month of October, so all of these will be written WELL ahead of time.  A true test of my uncannily oracular, peculiarly prescient prognosticationary abilities.  Hopefully I have enough unseen dog pics/vids to keep people entertained.

This first one is going to be pretty easy, since there’s nothing much going on.  It’s a shitty day for shooting on Sunday, but I have no match then, so I don’t really care.  If you do, it’s the moon in Sagittarius screwing with you.  That and your trigger pull.  Otherwise, it’s an excellent week in general, and particularly for Libra as it gains Venus.  Honestly, this would be a good time for peace talks, but there’s no indication that there will be any.  Instead there’s only one day of interest, which is the 5th.  Then we’ve got Venus (peace/love/sex/femininity), the Sun (growth/life/power), the moon (change/variability/water/feminine) and Jupiter retrograde (misrule/illegality/regret/punishment) all lining up together.  Now anyone can take the known planetary meanings and put them in a blender, it takes an astrologer to taste the resultant celestial slurry and pronounce judgement.  In this case, it’s about trouble involving a female leader, probably of an island or peninsula (since the moon being in Aquarius doubles down on the “water” aspect.)

Not enough room to swim, but Lily will try anyway. Dakota does not like getting his belly wet.

This looks like a dramatic week. Seven Majors drawn?

Libra: Queen of Swords – Widowhood, female sadness and embarrassment, absence, sterility, mourning, privation, separation.

Scorpio: 8 of Swords reversed – Disquiet, difficulty, opposition, accident, treachery

Sagittarius: The Sun reversed – Material happiness, fortunate marriage, contentment (but not as much as had it been drawn upright.)

Capricorn: The High Priestess -Secrets, mystery, the future as yet unrevealed, silence, tenacity; mystery, wisdom, science.

Aquarius: Strength – Power, energy, action, courage, magnanimity, complete success and honors.

Pisces: The Lovers reversed – Failure, foolish designs, marriage frustrated

Aries: 2 of Coins – Gaiety, recreation, news and messages in writing, obstacles, agitation, trouble, embroilment.

Taurus: Wheel of Fortune – Destiny, fortune, success, elevation, luck, felicity.

Gemini: The Hermit – Prudence, circumspection, treason, dissimulation, roguery, corruption.

Cancer: The Fool reversed – Negligence, absence, distribution, carelessness, apathy, nullity, vanity.

…trouble involving a female leader, probably of an island or peninsula…

Obvious suspects are UK or Italy. I call “both.” Who else am I missing?

      • Gender Traitor

Ooh! I certainly hope so! As long as the trouble is directed toward her and not, as has usually been the case, emanating from her!

Is it VERY bad of me to wish so?

      • Rebel Scum

The FBI might plot to kidnap her again.

She said improved air quality as a result of this proposal would amount to a saving of roughly $820 million of health care costs over the next 10 years.

Watch me pull this number out of my ass.

      • Gustave Lytton

If people just died early instead of being warm and comfortable, imagine the savings!

I have a wood stove in the basement but can’t use it because of the degraded chimney liner. The condition is such that I’d probably need to put in a new chimney, and at that point, I’d much rather buy an outdoor wood furnace instead and run an underground duct into my house.

15 acres of woods, and I’ve been using an electric heat pump and oil furnace because the cheap cost of energy came out far ahead of the labor of burning wood. It looks like that tradeoff is changing.

      Lawn Guy Land.

      • Gender Traitor

A bit of a stretch, since that’s a very small fraction of NY, but given the female “leader” involved, I’ll allow it!

    It’s just a game…

Panic at an Indonesian soccer match after police fired tear gas to stop brawls left 129 dead, mostly trampled to death, police said Sunday. Several fights between supporters of the two rival soccer teams were reported inside the Kanjuruhan Stadium in East Java province’s Malang city after the Indonesian Premier League game ended with Persebaya Surabaya beating Arema Malang 3-2.

The brawls that broke out just after the game ended late night Saturday prompted riot police to fire tear gas, which caused panic among supporters, said East Java Police Chief Nico Afinta.

Hundreds of people ran to an exit gate in an effort to avoid the tear gas. Some suffocated in the chaos and others were trampled, killed almost instantly.

    Disaster tourism

President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden will travel to devastated areas this week as the United States reels from the death, dangerous floods and destruction left in Hurricane Ian’s wake.

The White House announced late Saturday that the Bidens will visit Puerto Rico on Monday and Florida on Wednesday.

Where will they be Tuesday? Cuba?

    • Gender Traitor

The Bidens will set foot in Florida?? Hotbed of disease and fascism?? ::slaps back of hand to forehead, swoons::

    • Rebel Scum

the Bidens will visit Puerto Rico on Monday

I think the window on that one has closed.

    • Tundra

Saw that. Although why on earth you would buy a vehicle like that to tow is beyond me. My buddy moved up to a Super Duty because his F150 wasn’t getting it done.

Honestly, with how few miles I put on and how infrequently I now tow I could probably get by with an electric.

      But I won’t.

Was there any rational reason why there couldn’t have been an internationally – monitored election in the disputed regions of Ukraine to see how many citizens wanted to be part of which nation? Think of all the death and destruction there has been because nation states refuse to allow self-determination.

    • Lackadaisical

“Was there any rational reason why there couldn’t have been an internationally – monitored election in the disputed regions of Ukraine to see how many citizens wanted to be part of which nation?”

Not conducive to the aims of either nation involved, since the truth is probably somewhere in between what either claims.

      • Lackadaisical

It is a tragedy though, since that is probably the best solution.
