Callie Makes an Entrance

I hope everyone has their shopping done for their December holiday of choice and are enjoying their club sandwiches with mulled wine while watching football.  With any luck, I’ll be out shooting after having had the “Thanksgiving Benny” at the diner (stuffing, turkey, poached eggs, hollandaise and gravy).  They usually have that the weekend after Thanksgiving.  Lily is an outdoor dog through and through, and while she will sometimes consent to sit next to me on the couch, she would really prefer that I sit next to her outside on the steps.

The Earth-Moon pair moves into a few different alignments this week, each with varying astrological significance.  Starting off, we’ve got Mars, which is generally not a good time, indicating domestic strife.  The fact that Mars is in Cancer indicates particular spite involved.  Tuesday is Saturn, and typically this is indicative of plumbing problems, and I mean that in a literal sense, not “plumbing” problems.  And then on December first, you get Jupiter so if you’ve been wanting to make a change at home, this is a good time.  If you didn’t then you’ll have to work at keeping things stable.  It’s a great time to be a Sagittarius, and a decent time for everyone else.  Even Saturn isn’t bad news since it’s hanging out in Capricorn with the Moon.

Lily is strong, but so are Daisy and Callie

Sagittarius: 8 of Cups – Joy, mildness, timidity, honor, modesty, the decline of a matter, or that a matter which has been thought to be important is really of slight consequence.

Capricorn: Page of Coins reversed – Prodigality, dissipation, liberality, luxury, unfavorable news.

Aquarius: Knight of Wands reversed – Rupture, division, interruption, discord.

Pisces: King of Cups reversed –  Dishonest, double-dealing man; roguery, exaction, injustice, vice, scandal, pillage, considerable loss.

Aries: 4 of Cups reversed – Novelty, presage, new instruction, new relations.

Taurus: The Empress reversed – Light, truth, the unravelling of involved matters, public rejoicings, vacillation.

Gemini: Queen of Swords – Widowhood, female sadness and embarrassment, absence, sterility, mourning, privation, separation.

Cancer: Queen of Coins –  Opulence, generosity, magnificence, security, liberty.

Leo: 7 of Swords reversed –  Good advice, counsel, instruction, slander, babbling.

Virgo: 10 of Swords –  Pain, affliction, tears, sadness, desolation.

Libra: 8 of Swords reversed – Disquiet, difficulty, opposition, accident, treachery

Scorpio: The Magician – Skill, diplomacy, address, subtlety, sickness, pain, loss, disaster, snares of enemies, self-confidence, will

This why all three of them are strong

The last few weeks, I have been seeing and hearing things. Strange and incredible things I did not understand. Then I began to realize that while stricken with the debilitating illness, Firster’s Bane, that I had been given a gift from The Great Firster to compensate. Where there is loss, there is a gain and a new power that will help me to usher in The First That Shall Change Everything at precisely the right moment in time. I have First Sight. I can see Firsts before they happen in all of their raw power and energy. The time nears. My body is breaking, but my third eye is now fully open and it is all in service of The First.

You’re bordering on early-in-the-day Agile Cyborg. Not to be confused with late-in-the-evening Agile Cyborg.

      • dbleagle

May Cthulhu and the rest of the elder beings protect us from Bro channeling late-in-the-evening Agile Cyborg.

      • DEG

        I miss Agile Cyborg.

You should see a urologist about that.

        Or an optometrist.

        MikeS was closer, proctologist.

    • Chafed

Did you see how often MikeS firsted? It was really something.

      • slumbrew

        Effortless, really.

      • Brochettaward

I now no longer need to see Firsts with my seconding eyes. I now realize that even I, The First Of All Firsters, was seeing the world through the lens of a seconder. The last few weeks I have learned to feel Firsts, to sense them not just through space, but also time. I have been given the awesome power to go through all of history to see the Firsts that have built humanity into what it is, for better or worse. I believe this First Sight was given to me for a very important reason. I am now not The First Of All Firsters, but the Three Eyed Firster. All Firsts move through me, are connected through me.

But to put things more succinctly and in terms that even you could understand, MikeS has never Firsted in his entire life.

    That sounds… delicious.

    Nice dog videos.

  5. Ted S.

Gemini: Queen of Swords – Widowhood, female sadness and embarrassment, absence, sterility, mourning, privation, separation.

I’m not married and not a woman. Inflation, however, is making me poorer, just as it is everyone else.

  6. Tundra

Great takedown by Lily at the end!

Leo: 7 of Swords reversed – Good advice, counsel, instruction, slander, babbling.

OK, that takes care of tomorrow. What about the rest of the week?

  7. MikeS

Pisces: King of Cups reversed – Dishonest, double-dealing man; roguery, exaction, injustice, vice, scandal, pillage, considerable loss.

Am I that man? I could go for a little roguery and pillaging in my life. Spice things up.

  8. Gustave Lytton

State instant background check queue is up to 27k as of last night, CHL holders are getting dropped in at about 7k. Eleven days to go.

    • Sean

      Sad!

      • Gustave Lytton

Good news: Lots of lonely firearms are being adopted by good loving homes. Inventory is getting cleaned out.

Despite the growing queue, there are still people getting instant approval and the state police (which runs the checks in this state) are processing several hundred to thousand per day.

    • Tundra

SO what are the new rules?

      • Ted S.

Sounds like “Fuck you, that’s what.”

      • Gustave Lytton

No new standard capacity 10+ magazines. Existing ones can be used in your home and at the range as long as they’re locked up in between and you can prove you possessed them prior to Dec 8.
All firearms purchases require a license prior to attempting to purchase after Dec 8. The licensing scheme is not in place, sheriffs are stating it’s going to cost millions that they don’t have. Required training classes are not currently available. Best estimate is several months to years. Basically shutting down existing firearms stores.
The state is to maintain a database of licensed buyers and firearms purchased. This is supposedly exempt from disclosure but we know how that goes.
Permit to buy still requires yet another background check at the time of purchase.
No recourse if the permit to buy is delayed or approval to actually purchase is delayed. No more 3 day exemption.

      • Gustave Lytton

Many sheriffs are saying they’re not going to enforce the magazine ban. However that’s mostly meaningless gesturing. No dealer is going to sell them and no dealer is going to ship them in. And those same sheriffs will still use the magazine charge to pile onto “criminals” or decide if your use of force was lawful.

      • Tundra

        Thanks.

        Jesus, what a mess.

        Meanwhile.

      • Gustave Lytton

Yep, and the PDX crime stories were jujitsued into “gun crime!” by the media and used to scare the Fudds and guns are scary bad people. Common sense gun safety is what’s needed.

I hope Steve Ballmer puts a fucking chair through his wife Connie one of these days.

      • Gustave Lytton

The leftist DA is using lack of public defenders as an excuse to drop charges (which he already wanted to do).

Meanwhile, the intense cleanup programs are somewhat working. Downtown is cleaner than it’s been in three years or more. Not nearly as many normal people and more vacancies. Lots of neighborhoods have never really been bothered with crime or bums or riots when those were happening. Little Beirut was never as bad as its namesake.

      • Gustave Lytton

Excuse me, transfer not purchase. All of those who do not have completed transfers by Dec 8 but have already purchased will be in limbo. No one knows what is going to happen, state police, DA’s, ATF, etc. Other than follow dah lawhhhh.

Some firearms shops are exercising the 3 day rule to lawfully release firearms to buyers now, however they’re potentially putting themselves at risk of liability if something should go wrong.

    • juris imprudent

I remain confused, is the background check instant, or not? If it was instant, what the hell happened?

      • Gustave Lytton

The state police can only process so many checks and the number of requests is swamping their capacity. Instant has always been in name only.

      • Zwak, who taser's the chimp with the razor.

Here’s hoping this will get dropped by lawsuit toot-sweet.

The new law basically fails on every point, and with the recent SCOTUS decision it should be a no brainer.

        Should being the operative word.

      • Gustave Lytton

I agree but the process is the punishment, and the 9th Circus will do their damnedest.

It’s amazing how quickly things can move from one of the least restrictive gun laws in the country to this.

      • Zwak, who taser's the chimp with the razor.

Portland. As soon as it hit 50%+1, it was game over.

      • Gustave Lytton

Yeah, but it’s more than there. The Washington County suburbs are full of it, same with the Deschutes influx. And the coastal retirees. And a good chunk even in southern Oregon and not just Ashland. Way too many public sector parasites in this state along with those who are culturally left.

      • Gustave Lytton

It should never have been on the ballot as violating the multiple issue rule. But that doesn’t matter when the cause is righteous and the SOS is a leftist.

      • Zwak, who taser's the chimp with the razor.

Well, one more area to sue over, not that there isn’t a plethora of issues with this whole shit pile.

But, I wonder how it will affect C&R licenses? I know it won’t allow 10+ round mags, but in that case everything goes to a license holder. Could be the way to go in the future. Also, this might break the interstate bullshit, as it is clear that this disenfranchises millions, who cannot even cross state lines for a background check in that area.

      • Gustave Lytton

Funny, saw that in NW Firearms the other day. C&R is pretty much dead after the private transfers bill. All firearms have to go through a FFL for background check prior to transfer.

      • Zwak, who taser's the chimp with the razor.

Hmm, but the licencee is the FFL, so the background check has been done, no?

      • Gustave Lytton

No carve out for collectors licenses. Must be a dealer FFL license and do a background check at the time of transfer.

Thank gun hater (and unethical POS) Prozanski for that one.

      • juris imprudent

So the law is a lie and has always been hostage to the state police budget.

Did they dump the old law that allowed CHLs to get immediate delivery (given they had been cleared to carry)? That was the great compromise many years ago – funny how it barely held the ratchet for a few years.

      • Gustave Lytton

No, never been the case in Oregon. All transfers require checks. First “loophole” closed was at gun shows, then private sales. As of several years ago, CHL holders do go to top of the queue though. So it’s at around 7k out of 27k right now.

It gets even better, the state police have open unfilled positions in the checks unit.

      • juris imprudent

Way back when I lived there, shall issue was passed along with universal background checks as an honest compromise (both sides gave and both sides got). Of course that was when full autos had no state-level restrictions either; remembering Fairly Honest Don’s Machine Gun Parlor gun shop. That was when Oregon still elected Republicans to statewide office, so it’s been almost an ice-age.

      • Gustave Lytton

Surprisingly, there are still no real state limits on NFA items.

    • Not Adahn

In NY, they’re decertifying all firearm instructors who were certified by the NRA. No instructors, no licences!

      • Sean

        Sneaky commie rat fuckers.

      • MikeS

Is that related to Letitia James’ vendetta?

  9. Not Adahn

Smelling woodsmoke and listening to the rain on the tin roof. I wonder how many shooters will show up. Snow > rain. Damn you global warming!

    • UnCivilServant

    Rupture, division, interruption, discord

Sounds like a fun week ahead.

Hey Tundra, thanks for the Epstein links yesterday, very interesting but depressing. I deep dived on the information a bit and, although it’s unsettling, it’s something everyone should be aware of.

    • Tundra

You’re very welcome. It’s satanic, but Daryl really did a good job of breaking it all down.

      • Chafed

        Where did you post them?

      • Tundra

        Reposted below.

    • Brochettaward

I went looking and saw the link mentioned Pizza Gate. Never explained about those Podesta emails was what exactly they *were* talking about, because it definitely wasn’t pizza. Given the shit they say openly in those emails, what was so important that they had to talk in a strange code to hide it?

I’m not going to a pizza shop to look for children locked in some dungeon here. I don’t know if it was pedophilia, but they were talking about something shady and it may or may not have involved kids and in typical smug proggie fashion where they come up with any and all excuse to dismiss accusations leveled at their corrupt asshole leaders, it was all dismissed as crazy conspiracy nonsense.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

It is bizarre and in combination with the art there it seems circumstantially damning. It could also be something like codes for drugs too.

    • Gustave Lytton

      Link? Or which post?

FS1 World Cup coverage: he’s got the intangibles that don’t show up on the stat sheet

cool: those are my very favorite sort of intangibles

    • Ted S.

      Nice to see Canada eliminated.

      • Don escaped Texas

I didn’t watch a single match of theirs.

I’ve got roster cards for most squads: this has taken over the time I once spent on MLB.

It’s been a good six years since I worked for a big international and have fond memories of 2am breakfast parties to watch Germany. It was neat watching expats together and their common cause.

      • juris imprudent

I’ve thought about why I like sports, soccer in particular, and watching the Cup brings it to clarity. I can see fan reactions in the stadium and despite all the differences between that person and myself, I can fully understand what they are feeling.

      • rhywun

        *shrug*

What do you have against Canada?

      • Not Adahn

        I blame them.
