IFLA: The “It Gets Dark Early” Edition of the Horoscope for the Week of December 11

by | Dec 11, 2022 | IFLA | 75 comments

Even when she gets thrown, she maintains her grip. I’m so proud of her!

This week is mostly astrologically inert.  But not totally, and most interestingly enough, not all bad!  Monday is though.  Bad I mean.  Saturn does that, especially when the Earth and Moon are in alignment with it.  But fortunately that doesn’t last long because the moon moves very quickly, and it winds up aligning with Jupiter instead on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Not all of two days, the moon moves too quickly to sustain an alignment like that for 48 hours.  But for parts of Tuesday and Wednesday you should be pretty darn OK.  Capricorn in particular will be enjoying Venus and Mercury (love and luck) so have fun with that.

There are many goldens some days, but one is mine.

Sagittarius: 7 of Swords – Design, attempt, wish, hope, confidence; also quarrelling, a plan that may fail, annoyance.

Capricorn: The Hanged Man reversed – Selfishness, the crowd, body politic.

Aquarius: Page of Coins reversed –  Prodigality, dissipation, liberality, luxury; unfavourable news.

Pisces: 6 of Coins – Presents, gifts, gratification, attention, vigilance, prosperity.

Aries: Temperance reversed – Things connected with churches, religions, sects, the priesthood, disunion, unfortunate combinations, competing interests.

Taurus: 9 of Swords reversed –  Imprisonment, suspicion, doubt, reasonable fear, shame.

Gemini: The Sun reversed – Material happiness, fortunate marriage, contentment, but not as much as if it had been drawn upright.

Cancer: 9 of Wands reversed – Obstacles, adversity, calamity.

Leo: The Hermit reversed – Concealment, disguise, policy, fear, unreasoned caution.

Virgo: The High Priestess reversed – Passion, moral or physical ardor, conceit, surface knowledge.

Libra: 5 of Cups – Loss but something remains, inheritance, patrimony, transmission but not corresponding to expectations; marriage, but not without bitterness or frustration.

Scorpio: The Chariot – Succor, providence also war, triumph, presumption, vengeance, trouble.

It’s 5:00 in December. Gertie’s owner keeps a lighted collar on her so he can keep track.

    “Obstacles, adversity, calamity.”

    OFFS.

    😒

It could be worse. I’m apparently getting married this week.

Things connected with churches, religions, sects, the priesthood, disunion, unfortunate combinations, competing interests.

Bwahahaha, well my son is getting married on Saturday.

    • dbleagle

Does that include throwing virgins into an active volcano? Asking for a friend.

      • Rebel Scum

That seems like a waste of perfectly good vrigins.

      • SDF-7

That likely strongly depends on the the virgins. Picture them all as the Ackshually guy and… well…

  3. Brochettaward

My horror scope never changed before in the entirety of my life until recently. I was First yesterday, I was First that day, and I was going to be First the day after that. The only thing different now is that I am still First, only I can be First in all three of those times at once.

    • juris imprudent

      Looks more like third today.

  4. MikeS

Pisces: 6 of Coins – Presents, gifts, gratification, attention, vigilance, prosperity.

    Awww, yeah.

Sagittarius: 7 of Swords – Design, attempt, wish, hope, confidence; also quarrelling, a plan that may fail, annoyance.

My plan to rob a casino dressed as Santa Claus is taking shape, but I’m not sure I can depend on the elves.

  6. The Late P Brooks

my son is getting married on Saturday.

Are vast tracts of land involved?

    • Brochettaward

Two sheep, four goats and 10 bushels of yams.

My wife does drive a hard bargain.

The big Golden in the first video is a close twin to my Pete except Pete may have been a bit bigger. RIP Pete. Best dog I ever shared life with.

Gemini: The Sun reversed – Material happiness, fortunate marriage, contentment, but not as much as if it had been drawn upright.

Finally a good one for us Geminis but NA has to throw in it could be better.

    • Nephilium

Just got back from the brewery for lunch. Cheesy grits as a side with a ham and swiss omelet. Coffee porter on tap. Sometimes it’s good to enjoy the little things in life.

    • Gustave Lytton

Love those level mag releases. Rip both the release and PPQ. Walther’s pickings are getting pretty slim these days.

    • Tundra

Nice! That’s tonight’s dinner for us. $7.99/lb at Costco.

  8. Not Adahn

TIL that one of my shotguns is too long for my shotgun case.

    • westernsloper

Can relate. I can’t find a case long enough for my 308.

  9. KK the Porcine Pearl-Eater

So the low-level constant state of panic may end a little bit?

I love how no (national-level) sports commentators are talking about the Vikings. They’re slobbering all over the Cowboys & Eagles & 9ers.

    • KK the Porcine Pearl-Eater

Welp, it’s raining again for literally the 7th day in a row.

      • Mojeaux

        I ❤️ rain.

      • Nephilium

In late fall/early winter, I much prefer snow.

      • Mojeaux

Agreed, but if rain is all I can get in the winter, I’ll take it.

      • Animal

Well, you don’t have to plow or shovel rain. We’re due for 12-16 inches of white stuff in the next 24 hours. Just enough to make it difficult to move with my tractor, so I’ll have a buddy hit it with his plow.

      • westernsloper

you can’t move 12″ of snow with your tractor? Is your tractors first name Lawn?

      • Animal

Utility. It’s a Deere 1023e. If I had a front-mounted PTO snowblower – on the purchase list for next year – I could handle it easily. But with the loader and box blade, it just takes too damn long. I’d rather float my buddy a few bucks to plow than spend half the day on the tractor.

Out lots are just big enough that we need something bigger than a lawn tractor, but not a full-sized machine. So we split the difference.

      • Gustave Lytton

The 1 series are nice tractors. I’ve been eying a 1025r (and 1026r before that) for years.

    • Nephilium

I just want to know who had the bright idea to have both AFC North games at the same time. All four teams are playing in the two games.

    • Lackadaisical

      right?

Vikings are clearly really good, flash backs to when Moss was a big deal. Eagles are good too, and of course KC.

      • juris imprudent

Losing to Detroit as you sing their praises.

I guess Carl Spackler changed his name and moved to Minnesoda:

Powers said he had been shooting at the bird feeder for a couple of years and would go talk to “the other guy” to make it right.

Officers informed Powers one of the bullets had gone through a child’s bedroom window. Powers was arrested for reckless discharge of a firearm.

Powers told his wife he was being arrested, and she said, “Well, I told you.”

When Powers was brought to the East Grand Forks Police Department, he provided a statement. According to Powers, he was watching sports on television when he saw a red squirrel on his bird feeder.

    “Well, that’s war,” Powers said.

    • Shpip

There’s a guy who has a YouTube channel that’s just him shooting small game in his backyard.

The big differences between him and our perp is that YouTube guy a) uses an airgun, and b) has an oak tree as a backstop.

    • Tundra

Powers told his wife he was being arrested, and she said, “Well, I told you.”

      This is funny, regardless!

  13. DEG

The night time video is cool.

Concealment, disguise, policy, fear, unreasoned caution.

    Sounds shitty enough.

  14. Fourscore

While the owner of the lighted collar dog can keep track of her/him so can all the other dogs.

I had a Rem 1100 with a 30″ barrel and a 1 inch recoil pad. Found a nice padded case, I gave the gun and case away. Don’t remember the brand.

Hopefully for the lady folks my son isn’t getting married, I think his best used days are over.

  15. Rebel Scum

Prodigality, dissipation, liberality, luxury; unfavourable news.

Sounds fun. This week is bonus week.

Not Adahn: I finally figured out how to do Featured Images in Block Editor, and fixed your post. Yay, me.

      • DEG

Under the “Post” menu/sidebar/block/whateverthefuckitscalled, there is a “Featured Image” entry.

When I’m in the block editor, I always have to go hunt for it.

      • UnCivilServant

So similar to the classic editor.

  20. juris imprudent

    Oops.

Prosecutors suspect the Gulf state tried to influence parliament decisions with donations of money or gifts.

Local media have reported that the accused country is Qatar, which the Qatari government has denied.

Watchdogs and opposition MEPs have said it could be one of the biggest corruption scandals the European Parliament has ever seen.

Ms Kaili, one of 14 elected vice presidents, has been suspended from the parliament’s Socialists and Democrats Group and expelled from the Greek centre-left Pasok party.

    • rhywun

Local media have reported that the accused country is Qatar

      Because of course it is.

      • juris imprudent

Well, they do know how to pay off europeans (cough FIFA cough) to get what they want.

    OT: Kari Lake filed suit

After long refusing to commit to accepting the results of her race if she lost, Republican Kari Lake on Friday filed the legal challenge she’s been threatening in the aftermath of losing the Arizona governor’s race.

A civil complaint was filed Friday with the Maricopa County Superior Court naming Secretary of State and Democratic governor-elect Katie Hobbs, Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer, Elections Director Scott Jarrett and both the office of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors and individual members.

There are multiple falsehoods and distorted assertions included in the lawsuit that echo the failed legal challenges brought by former President Donald Trump’s team to overturn the 2020 election.

Link to the suit if you want to judge for yourself.

    • Rebel Scum

There are multiple falsehoods and distorted assertions included in the lawsuit

I’m sure this is a impartial assessment.

      • Rebel Scum

    • westernsloper

      ……lawsuit riddled with falsehoods………

Nice editorializing in a so called news piece. I have not followed that case close at all, but the little news I have heard from sources I trust a lot more than ABC news is Maricopa County was a shit show of epic shit shows. Hopefully they find a judge who doesn’t just throw it out because……………?

      • Rebel Scum

Well, smartypants, the election has been certified. So, “no standing” or somesuch.

      • DEG

I know you’re being sarcastic, but for the record:

AZ Election law on filing a contest

        A. The elector contesting a state election shall, within five days after completion of the canvass of the election and declaration of the result thereof by the secretary of state or by the governor, file in the court in which the contest is commenced a statement in writing setting forth:

        When was the canvass completed?

      • westernsloper

Is the canvass even completed yet? Gathering ballots takes months these days.

      • DEG

I think it was completed. I don’t remember what day it was completed.

    • Gustave Lytton

More than 15-20 minutes wait to vote is absolutely fucking ridiculous and the amount of contractor handled work of the balloting process is totally indefensible.

      • westernsloper

Not sure those things are what they are arguing.

      • Gustave Lytton

Part of the filing is that the waiting times are intentional to suppress Republican voters.

      • westernsloper

I think it was more the tabulators didn’t fucking work, which led to long wait times causing people to just leave. I didn’t read anything about 15 or 20 minutes more the machinery was fucked.

      • juris imprudent

And I imagine that is just as much horse-shit as Stacey Abrams complaints about suppression were.

    • Ted S.

Gotta love the commentary in an ostensible news story.

      Maricopa County Superior Court

Well, she might lose in one of those backwater courts, but, upon appeal, some Trump-appointed judge at some eventual level will reverse so she can be properly installed. I mean, worst case, it gets to the Supreme Court where in 2020 Team Trump was 100% supportive of election fraud claims. I mean, there were 60 cases last time where similar cases were filed, and Republican judges came through time after time. This will be cleaned up in no time; I recommend we all take a nap to celebrate the forthcoming validations.

  22. The Late P Brooks

I’m sure this is a impartial assessment.

The narrative is by definition the unadulterated truth. Questioning the narrative is therefor a falsehood.

  23. westernsloper

I am amused by the so called libertarians on this site who like to argue the state is always right and legit in all things elections. Myself, I assume the state is lying about literally everything but you guys do you.

    • Penguin

I am amused by the so called libertarians on this site who like to argue the state is always right …

That happened when? (Note: I’m not saying it didn’t happen, I just never saw it.) FWIW, I think the AZ ‘election’ is absolute bullshit. A rerun of 2020 where the D candidate sleeps in the basement all the election long, yet has indominable traction despite their complete absence, mental or otherwise.

And in the AZ gov’s race, despite the fact that Lake has charisma, while Dobbs or whatever her fucking name is has the presence of a rotting fish.
