IFLA: The “Land of BLAM!” Edition of the Horoscope for the Week of June 25

Out for a run

I should be finishing up the USPSA Carry Optics Nationals when this drops, so I’m casting the horoscope waaaay earlier than usual.  However, as those loyal reader know when this situation has happened in the past, astrology is such an exact SCIENCE! that those long (temporal) distance readings have proven just as accurate as those that are taken only a few days before!

The beginning of the week is “lucky in love,” with Mercury and Venus playing nicely with the sun. But later in the week we see multiple signs indicating “trouble at home,” and when the signs come from different groups of planets (the moon and Jupiter in the first instance, Mercury and the Sun in the second) it’s usually the skies making really sure that you can see what they’re trying to say. So have your homeowner’s insurance paid up.

I am so envious of her sometimes.

Gemini: The Empress reversed – Light, truth, the unravelling of involved matters, public rejoicings, vacillation.

Cancer: The Star reversed – Arrogance, haughtiness, impotence.

Leo: The Fool reversed – Negligence, absence, distribution, carelessness, apathy, nullity, vanity.

Virgo: 7 of Swords – Design, attempt, wish, hope, confidence, quarrelling, a plan that may fail, annoyance.

Libra: Knight of Cups- Arrival, approach, advances, proposition, demeanor, invitation, incitement.

Scorpio: Ace of Swords – Triumph, the excessive degree in everything, conquest, great (probably excessive) force.

Sagittarius: 10 of Swords – Pain, affliction, tears, sadness, desolation.

Capricorn: 9 of Coins – Prudence, safety, success, accomplishment, certitude, discernment.

Aquarius: 8 of Coins – Work, employment, commission, craftsmanship, skill in craft and business

Pisces: 9 of Cups reversed – Truth, loyalty, liberty, mistakes, imperfections.

Areis: 2 of Cups – Love, passion, friendship, affinity, union, concord, sympathy.

Taurus: The Hierophant reversed – Benevolence, compassion, credit, confusion to enemies, obstruction, immaturity.

Ok, I’m done now. Leave me alone. Want to nap.

Scorpio: Ace of Swords – Triumph, the excessive degree in everything…

Anything worth doing is worth overdoing?

    Nice dog videos.

Negligence, absence, distribution, carelessness, apathy, nullity, vanity.

    Sufficiently shitty.

Dogs definitely seem to have it figured out.

Leo: The Fool reversed – Negligence, absence, distribution, carelessness, apathy, nullity, vanity.

    Huh. That actually checks out.

    Hope the shoot went well!

“The beginning of the week is “lucky in love,” with Mercury and Venus playing nicely with the sun.”

Does yesterday count? Asking for a friend.

“Gemini: The Empress reversed – Light, truth, the unravelling of involved matters, public rejoicings, vacillation.”

No vacillation for me, I hate needles.

    • juris imprudent

I tend to agree that “lucky in love” would precede trouble at home.

Work, employment, commission, craftsmanship, skill in craft and business

    Sounds good.

Anyone have experience, driver or mechanic, with the recent 4Runners? Wifey is looking at them.

    • R.J.

Good cars, low fuel mileage. If you don’t worry about range and mileage, it is a very popular choice in mountainous regions.

Overall, the finalized RFS issued Wednesday will ensure “steady growth of biofuels for use in the nation’s fuel supply,” the EPA said. And the agency added it would reduce U.S. oil imports by about 130,000 to 140,000 barrels of oil per day over the course of the next three years, boosting U.S. energy security economic benefits by up to $192 million.

“Today’s final rule reflects our efforts to ensure stability of the program for years to come, protect consumers from high fuel costs, strengthen the rural economy, support domestic production of cleaner fuels, and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” EPA Administrator Michael Regan said in a statement.

Meanwhile, in April, the EPA announced its most ambitious regulations ever targeting tailpipe emissions in an effort to push wider adoption of electric vehicles. The regulations, which have yet to be finalized, would lead to 67% of new sedan, crossover, SUV and light truck purchases being electric by 2032.

The EPA should be able to rule by decree instead of being forced to negotiate with all those unbelievers.

“ Areis: 2 of Cups – Love, passion, friendship, affinity, union, concord, sympathy.”

That should make for an interesting technical conference this week…😆

I’m going to interpret it to mean I’m going to be paging through adoptable cats in the Seattle area while I’m at the conference in San Antonio.

    • Gender Traitor

Adopt a black cat! They’re the best! Or better yet, go to a shelter with a “cat room” where the kittehs are allowed to wander freely, and see which one picks you! If it happens to be a black one, so much the better!

      • hayeksplosives

Yes, I found a place with the open-room format.

I’m kinda aiming for a cat that’s been there too long, a senior, or a bonded pair or something else that needs a second chance.

This poor kitteh looks as if he’s been through some sort of nerve-shattering experience and could sure use da lubs! 😿

On the adoption page, that Aramis is a cutie.

I have some friends in Montana who are on their third consecutive 4runner. They like them.

I was completely unaware it was happening.

It was better when the road was dirt, and they ran on July Fourth.

    • R.J.

      I agree with you.

    • cyto

With altitude playing such a role, electrics are going to completely take over the records on this race.

Did that fan car go this year? It is a tiny electric that uses a fan to suck it down at all speeds. It is an approach with very little tradeoff for a short format. It should render some ludicrous speeds once it matures.

  14. The Late P Brooks

I suppose there is a raft of electric all wheel drive rockets with active suspension, full stability control and ten thousand pounds of downforce whooshing up the hill, proving design concepts of dubious utility.

    • R.J.

Yes. Breaking into low nine minute territory now.

      • R.J.

Wow. In the eights now, non electric

From this mornings discussion of rhubarb….

One of the real treats of visiting the wife’s family up near Duluth. What I didn’t realize from my southern heritage was just how easy it is to grow. The in-laws have patches of it just growing wild. They get more than they can give away from a couple of small patches on the edge of the property that maintain themselves.

The sweet and sour combo is excellent. And strawberries also grow well up there, but require a lot more TLC, so they just buy those.

    • CPRM

I’ve never done anything with the rhubarb other than harvest it. No care or thought needed. Most years I actually forget it’s there to even harvest.

      • Fourscore

If you need any rhubarb roots, I’m the go to guy. It only takes a little and soon you’ll have a lot. Reasonable dirt, a little fertilizer, water and sunshine and get outta the way.

    • Lackadaisical

Strawberry rhubarb pie is the king of pies.

With altitude playing such a role, electrics are going to completely take over the records on this race.

We ran mechanical fuel injection (sprint car stuff). Mixture adjustment for altitude was mostly guesswork. Methanol is more forgiving than gasoline, but still a major problem. EFI was a game changer.

Electric propulsion takes that completely off the table
