IFLA: The “Return to Prospect” Edition of the Horoscope for the Week of June 11

by | Jun 11, 2023 | IFLA | 38 comments

When hiking, it’s a good idea to stop for a drink and cool off. Maybe even soak your feet.

This would be a bad week if the stars cared about you, as they tell a sad tale. Some royal schmuck is going to have a bad few days.

It starts off as last week ended with Mercury-Mars “News about War” or “Battles going wrong.” But then things get more complicated as other planets join the party. At first, Venus comes close (Venus-Mars indicating a romantic relationship) and they both align with the earth (Married, Parents). Then off of the Earth we get the Moon (Change) and Saturn (Ending). So this final construction is about Dear John letters at best, more likely unwelcome telegrams. That Moon-Saturn conjunction happening in Pisces is a good indication that the navy is involved. Or maybe a transport plane crashing into the ocean. Possibly choking on a fish bone or eating improperly prepared fugu. There are a lot of choices when you’re talking about death by water.

I mentioned that this week is a good one for Gemini. It’s because we see the entrance of Mercury which, as we’ve discussed before, is a particularly lucky time. However, Leo gets the Lion’s share holding both Mars and Venus simultaneously.

I don’t have too many videos of Lily just hanging out.

Gemini: King of Coins – Valor, realizing intelligence, business and normal intellectual aptitude, sometimes mathematical gifts and attainments of this kind; success in these paths.

Cancer: The Hanged Man reversed – Selfishness, the crowd, body politic.

Leo: The Fool – Folly, mania, extravagance, intoxication, delirium, frenzy, bewrayment.

Virgo: 2 of Cups reversed – A bargain or a partnership which is less of an advantage than expected, a breaking of trust.

Libra: The Hierophant – Marriage, alliance, captivity, servitude, mercy and goodness, inspiration.

Scorpio: 6 of Swords reversed – Declaration, confession, publicity.

Sagittarius: 8 of Cups – Giving joy, mildness, timidity, honor, modesty. The decline of a matter, or that a matter which has been thought to be important is really of slight consequence.

Capricorn: The Hermit reversed – Concealment, disguise, policy, fear, unreasoned caution.

Aquarius: 2 of Swords – Conformity, courage, friendship, concord in a state of arms.

Pisces: Queen of Wands – A dark woman, countrywoman, friendly. Also, love of money, or a certain success in business.

Aries: 10 of Coins –  Gain, riches, family matters, archives, extraction.

Taurus: 2 of Coins – Recreation, news and messages in writing, obstacles, agitation, trouble, embroilment.

It’s been a dry spring, so the creeks aren’t really deep enough to swim in. Lily’s going to make a valiant attempt though. Daisy’s content to wade.

      Best. Definition. Ever.

Haha. I got the same thing. Thanks internet!

It’s my favorite local hike. First 2/3 of it are under canopy along that stream. People like the view up top, but I’ve seen it before, so NBD for me. It’s nice to be able to cool off in the wind up top though. The only problem with it is that they put up a parking lot near the summit so we’ve got to leash all the dogs since there are park po-po there.

        parking lot near the summit

        Surely you’ve been to https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/lost-maples

best thing about it is no pavement much beyond the entrance, so no RVs, only serious folk up the trail

go during a full moon and walk the canyons: the limestone is lit up, find a good place to sit, and watch all the animals put on a show

Did a short hike around Lake Bonita today. Lily caught a chipmunk that foolishly decided to shelter in a hollow log. It’s kind of terrifying to see how fast she can tear apart rotting wood. The lake is very clear and it made a nice scene with her swimming through lily pads. Unfortunately it was too far a way to catch a video.

    CO2 ain’t the problem.

Researchers at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) warn there are major environmental downsides to lab-grown meat. According to their “cradle-to-gate life cycle” analysis, the lab-grown meat industry produces up to 25 times more CO2 than traditional animal husbandry, which nullifies the core ideological foundation upon which the industry is built.

Each kilo of cultured meat produces anywhere from 542 pounds (246 kilos) to 3,325 pounds (1,508 kg) of carbon dioxide emissions, making the climate impact of cultured meat four to 25 times greater than that of conventional beef.

At present, most cultured meat companies still use fetal bovine serum (FBS) as the growth medium, which is obtained from unborn calves that are cut out of the womb and drained of their blood while still alive. Hence, most claims of cultured meat being animal-free or free of animal cruelty are false.

Seems way better to just grow the cow and then eat it. But I wouldn’t eat fake meat anyway.

    • UnCivilServant

The only market niche for lab-grown meat is to taste animals you wouldn’t otherwise be able to eat. Why don’t the people working on it seem to ever get that?

Hmm. There are three persons looming large for me this week.

    The Ex;
“Capricorn: The Hermit reversed – Concealment, disguise, policy, fear, unreasoned caution.”

    The Bedtie/coworker/ label-defter:
“Aquarius: 2 of Swords – Conformity, courage, friendship, concord in a state of arms.”

    Me:
“Aries: 10 of Coins – Gain, riches, family matters, archives,”

    I like those odds.

Once more unto the breach, dear friends. Once more,

    • hayeksplosives

Gah, I will rip autocorrect’s face right off.

This is a read to cheer you up!

And what about those surplus elites? Well, if you happen to be one, look away now. Halfway through End Times Turchin remarks, somewhat blithely: “In order for stability to return, elite overproduction somehow needs to be taken care of – historically and typically by eliminating the surplus elites through massacre, imprisonment, emigration, or forced or voluntary downward social mobility.” In fact, CrisisDB allows us to be even more precise: in 40% of crises, rulers were assassinated; 75% ended in revolutions or civil wars (or both), and in 20%, those civil wars dragged on for a century or longer. Sixty percent of the time the state in question disappeared, either through conquest or disintegration.

Help me, New Deal-style rescue package, you’re my only hope!

What a pile of fucking garbage.

  15. Rebel Scum

    To be sure…

On Moms for Liberty, the SPLC makes clear that it’s not just group members’ incendiary statements about LGBT, race, etc., but also generic opposition to covid mandates, teachers unions, and Ed Dept that qualifies as extremist.

I certainly think some people affiliated with the group have said extremist things, but the SPLC is painting with a broad enough brush for us all to be labeled extremists on a future report.

  16. Rebel Scum

    Deep state cunte.

Barr said, “It started out under the Presidential Records Act and the archives trying to retrieve documents that Trump had no right to have. But it quickly became clear that what the government was really worried about were these classified and very sensitive documents. I was shocked by the degree of sensitivity of these documents and how many there were, frankly. And so the government’s agenda was to get those, protect those documents, and get them out. And I think it was perfectly appropriate to do that. It was the right thing to do. And I think the counts under the Espionage Act that he willfully retained those documents are solid counts.”

He added, “But I do think that even half of what Andy McCarthy said, which is if even half of it is true, then he’s toast. I mean, it’s a pretty, it’s a very detailed indictment, and it’s very, very damning.”

It is damning…for any semblance of justice and equality under the law in our former republic.

    • creech

The outrage is the double standard. Had,say, Hillary or Barry did the same thing, would they be calling for prosecution? Of course not, and Trump’s defenders would be first in line screaming about Hillary’s contempt for the law.

    • The Other Kevin

Oh it’s about national security. Way more serious than any of the others like Clinton, Biden, Obama, or even Bush. Totally not the same.

    • rhywun

I think we will quickly find out that the words of the laws or statutes don’t matter. If they want him in prison, he’s going to prison.

  17. Penguin

Oh wait, you don’t care. I’m going to get 2 of those without your knowledge.
