IFLA the “Last Leo of 2023” Edition of the Horoscope for the Week of August 20

The bout begins

The week starts off not-so-good, gets better and then ends with a bang.  Not necessarily a good bang.

The opening is the same as last week ended — Venus retrograde and Saturn retrograde, but that nonsense breaks up almost immediately.  The Moon and Jupiter on Friday indicate changes for the better, or at least for the “more normal/easier to deal with variety of problems” which is important because the very next day is MERCURY RETROGRADE.  Good luck.

Leo: Knight of Cups reversed – Trickery, artifice, subtlety, swindling, duplicity, fraud.

Virgo: 5 of Wands – Imitation, competition, gain.

Libra: 7 of Swords reversed – Risks do not pay off.

Scorpio: The Sun reversed – Material happiness, fortunate marriage, contentment. But not as much as if the card had been drawn upright.

Sagittarius: The Devil – Ravage, violence, vehemence, extraordinary efforts, force, fatality

Capricorn: 8 of Swords – Bad news, violent chagrin, crisis, censure, power in trammels, conflict, calumny, sickness.

Aquarius: 6 of Coins reversed -Desire, cupidity, envy, jealousy, illusion.

Pisces: King of Cups –  Fair man, man of business, law, or divinity

Aries: Justice – Equity, rightness, probity, executive; triumph of the deserving side in law.

Taurus: Knight of Coins – Utility, serviceableness, interest, responsibility, rectitude

Gemini: Queen of Coins reversed – Evil, suspicion, suspense, fear, mistrust.

Cancer: Queen of Cups reversed – Distinguished woman but one not to be trusted; perverse woman; vice, dishonor, depravity.

The two newbies are “wooly coated” huskies. Apparently it’s considered a breed defect.

Space lions have lots of toes. Dogs playing with dogs is fun to watch.

The whole management team of my apartment building is women. I guess I should be glad I signed my lease renewal last week.

One of those wooly coated huskies is the same volume as Lily, but when you put hands on him you realize he’s probably half the mass.

Great videos! Those huskies are gorgeous!

There’s a horse trainer here for track season bringing her dog to the park regularly. He’s a surprisingly large and buff Australian Shepherd. I’ll see if I can get vid of him playing with Lily.

      • Tundra

Cool! Aussies sure do come in a lot of sizes!

    OT: Re: the Glibs cruise…

If you want a room to yourself, you’ll need to book through Suzanne (email or voicemail are fine). Otherwise the cruise webpage will give an error. You can try reserving it online, but she’ll have to be notified so she can go back and convert it to single occupancy.

Good news is that it will cost slightly less than twice half of the double occupancy rate.

I was even able to get a C1 room!

    Thanks for the advice, y’all.

    And now back to horoscopes.

Friday to Saturday night I promised I’d try to get a picture of the interesting effect of the curing lamps on the translucent resin.

    Here’s the picture I took

    Have some ostentatious melodramatic fragility

On top of the widespread destruction and devastating loss of life, the wildfires are taking an incalculable emotional toll on many residents of a tight-knit island community who now face a hard choice: Move and start over elsewhere. Or stay and rebuild from scratch.

“Every day I’m looking through the list of people who are missing and I find someone else I know,” said Kaniela Ing, a former state legislator and Native Hawaiian community organizer whose family has been on Maui for seven generations.

“Normally it’s clear. There’s something to fight against. There’s something we need to protect and hold on to. And there’s someone that’s trying to take it away. And it’s just really easy to galvanize,” he said of the latest calamity in the island’s turbulent history, starting with the overthrow of its monarchy by American-backed insurrectionists in 1893.

“This tragedy is different. There are so many moving pieces, and folks are just sad.”

it’s the white colonizers what dunnit. Of this we may be certain.

    • creech

Didn’t Kamehameha unite the islands by calling together all the chiefs for a “summit” and then murdering them? That sounds like an even better start to the islands’ “turbulent history.”

  13. The Late P Brooks

Activists hope to galvanize residents amid widespread concerns that speculators are moving to snap up the land on which homes were destroyed. They fear the plans of moneyed developers will take precedence over the needs of locals.

“Right now there are predatory land speculators, real estate interests hovering above the wreckage like vultures, calling people who are just in their darkest place, who have lost everything, to try to get a hold of the land,” Ing said.

I would be an awful shame if those “activists” were to start washing up on the beach.

  14. Suthenboy

I figured out how to check on Ron Bailey’s current position on AGW without giving TOS any clicks.
It seems he is no longer on the fence. He straight-up calls it a scam.

  15. Rebel Scum

    Desire, cupidity

    Ok…

    envy, jealousy, illusion.

    Dangit.
