Not pretty

The Bungles are not looking good. The Astros finally beat a bottom-feeder. Thankfully everybody else in the division are playing like ass too. Both wild card races are coming down to the nub (as is the AL West). The Buckeyes got their act together of offense. Bama are not a very good team. Ferrari took care of business in Singapore. And the Wallabies suffered a humiliating defeat to Fiji as the surprises at this RWC are getting going. And that’s it for sports.

We’re losing our next war. I’m surprised they didn’t blame Tommy Tuberville in the piece.

Shocking

Whether it’s legal under the state constitution or not isn’t relevant. The law is clearly in violation of the US Constitution and needs to be struck down immediately.

I guess Jeffrey Lebowski was wrong. The bums didn’t lose after all.

Crikey! I’d make some silly Australian pun, but I can’t think of any. And whoever thought this was a clever thing to give a six year old is a retard.

End this madness, please!

Get a load of this asshole. “He’s gonna start WW3 if you don’t keep pumping weapons into my country and build more and more military bases on his border!”  Man, fuck everybody involved in this bullshit. The guy pointing the finger as well as the guy he’s pointing it at. And the dickheads in the MIC who are counting money while arming them. They’re all trash. And a shitload of innocent people are dying in their little meat-grinder.

Popcorn! Come get your fresh, hot popcorn! The show is about to begin.

Hmmmmmmm. This is interesting. I’d think her only responsibility would be civil. I’m not sure how I feel about this one.

Oh no, whatever will he do?!?! If his legal “troubles” depend on the witnesses they brought forward during the impeachment, I’d say he’s resting pretty well at night.

This song rocks. Unlike a few of their overrated tracks. And here’s another gem. Enjoy them both.

And enjoy this lovely Monday, dear friends.

By design. It’s as if the agenda of our supposed elite is to destroy America period.

    • Suthenboy

      Nooooow you are catching on.

      • AlexinCT

Maybe my problem is that I can’t believe any alpha types would ever want to be or go along with ana agenda that makes them the bottom Suthen. Are we that far along that the country is totally beta captured and doomed to being the bottom?

      • Vida Hobo

Seems we’re trying our best, Alex. Besides, if we’re alphas that’s toxic masculinity, etc, etc. And the constant infantilizing. The current power structure wants a bunch of spoiled children that won’t fight back. See also, children on their parents’ health insurance until 26. Dafuq? Left home at 16 and despite the screen name, don’t live in a van down by the river. Too many are used to having all their food cut up for them.

      • R.J.

Very true. I have been trying to figure out when that started, and how society keep perpetuating it. I think it may have started in the 90’s with laws where a cop could arrest you and your kid for playing outside without a parent present.

      • Common Tater

The teachers unions didn’t want competition.

I have already ordered a copy of Mark Levin’s latest – “The Democratic Party Hates America”
Alex, If you like I will send a copy to you as well. Let me know.

I know this: Every thing the D’s do is calculated to make you less free. At the heart of all of their attacks is to destroy the idea of inalienable rights for individuals. History shows that is true in the rise of every despotic regime. That is the corner stone for all of the ideals this country is founded on. As for us being too far gone, I am not so sure. We are starting to see Pols being shouted down by. large crowds, officials in some places refusing to enforce unconstitutional edicts, etc. History bears out that this is the sort of stuff seen before the dam breaks.
I saw yesterday that the head of the WEF is puzzled as to why people are angry when they are told they will own nothing, have no democratic representation, etc….in other words ruled by philosopher kings. He was surprised by the popular reaction, something also seen before the dam breaks.
As to where we are going, Yogi Berra summed it up well – “Making predictions is hard, especially about the future.”
Godspeed Alex. Godspeed to us all.

Ten states have permit-to-purchase laws similar to the new Oregon measure

Which isn’t enough to stop a Constitutional amendment let alone approve one. But boy, we’re going to talk about those 10 states as if they were the other 40!

      • WTF

So 10 states have laws that violate the constitution’s second amendment.

      • Zwak says the real is not governable, but self-governing.

One of the things driving the left to distraction here in Oregon is that a rural judge can take a case of state importance and turn it on its head. Never mind that a Hawaii judge did the exact same thing to the Trump admin, that worked in the lefts favor.

        Leftism, Uber Alles!

Based on news stories out of Chicago, this will be a much bigger shit show than it has been for New York.

You have to remember, new York was/is one of the safest big cities, whereas Chicago is… not.

  5. Shpip

The (simple, effective, probably wrong) way that I’d handle laws like Oregon’s measure:

An Oregon judge is set to decide whether a gun book control law approved by voters in November violates the state’s constitution in a trial scheduled to start Monday.

The law, one of the toughest in the nation, was among the first gun book restrictions to be passed after a major U.S. Supreme Court ruling last year changed the guidance judges are expected to follow when considering Second First Amendment cases.

    • Zwak says the real is not governable, but self-governing.

Or, replace Gun with Vote, or Representation, or, for that matter, any constitutional right.

  6. AlexinCT

      Its a longish story.
Chairman of planning commission is our neighbor across the street. (about 20 acres ), our neighbor south of us (80 acers) sold to a developer. They did a “lot split” Developer supposedly threatened to sue town if we were told about this.
      Panning commission approves lot split.

Chairman of planning commission and children start doing work for developer.

Wife starts topless protesting against town, by sitting on car waiving at everyone that does by, after 2nd visits by light horse nation pollce, she starts wearing nipple covers.
Chairman storms across banging on our door wants to talk to wife about her allegations that he is taking “alternative payments”. Wife declines to talk to him.
      Get a trespass on him

One day, while they are working on repairing tractor on back of that 80 acres, planning commissioner abandons old surplice military’ truck right in front of her where she was non-topless.
He storms off, does not say anything to her passanger side door open. SHe starts videoing. I come up
We see we are being droned.
      Call police
police come and talk to them for 45 min before talking to us.
arrest wendy on the spot. “for waving”
give her a nice ride in cruiser, wife chokes on seatbelt, hypoxic voids bladder.
drag her out at county jail at 9 pm/ bang her head.

meanwhile i bring clothes, police cruiser starts following me after i get off on interstate.
toss her out on own recognizance at 2:30 am.

Go to Norman ok ER, wife had two hematomas.
Charge of waiving has been changed to indecent exposure at preliminary hearing.
still have not gotten charging doc 3 weeks after preliminary hearing.

      • Suthenboy

Always nice to see small town corruption proving that big cities don’t have a lock on that kind of thing.

      • Sensei

Yup. In some ways it is worse.

      • Lachowsky

Christ man I’m sorry. I grew up in a small town and live in the country now. Local cops can be some of the worst. The last sheriff or my county is currently in prison for beating the shit out of guy handcuffed in his cruiser. A few years back the local deputies disabled the camera system in the jail and then Tasered a 16 kid in the drunk tank until his heart stopped. All of them are still employed. When I was in my twenties, A cop went over to his mistresses house while on duty to cheat on his wife and while he was there, her eight year had a temper tantrum and got herself tasered. At least he got fired. I could go on.

  8. AlexinCT

Well, destroying the energy industry with shit like this is a sure fire way of making that horribly stupid green tech shit look good. Those grifters and globalists intend to use climate change as more than just the go to excuse for whenever government fucks up.

    • Suthenboy

I see where Biden wants to prohibit the shipping of natgas across state lines. (kill pipelines altogether)
Biden, or his handlers, are crazier than a shithouse rat. Yes, they are deliberately trying to destroy the economy in a big way.
Destroying or seizing wealth, destroying the ability to create or accumulate wealth essentially deprives individuals of nearly all of their options.
It is a brazen attack on people’s ability to make their own decisions, accumulating all of that power to the ruling trash.

      • Homple

Good luck with that, America. In the last 12 months, natural gas fueled 40% of electricity generation in the continental US. That plus its use for heating, and as a feedstock for the chemical industry.

I hope they do this, soon, thoroughly and suddenly. It might educate the masses, deprivation being the only way the masses seem capable of learning.

    • WTF

Shit loads of people who are effectively commies or communalits for their group.

      • Suthenboy

Immergut found large-capacity magazines “are not commonly used for self-defense, and are therefore not protected by the Second Amendment.” Even if they were protected, she wrote, the law’s restrictions are consistent with the country’s “history and tradition of regulating uniquely dangerous features of weapons and firearms to protect public safety.”

She also found the permit-to-purchase provision to be constitutional, noting the Second Amendment “allows governments to ensure that only law-abiding, responsible citizens keep and bear arms.”

Because if the Revolutionary War was all about one thing — it was that the British thought the colonists were all responsible, law-abiding citizens who should be allowed their muskets and cannon. And of course, only Government Licensed(tm) Approved Citizens get to exercise every other right and all… I’m guessing she thinks the Second is there only for personal home defense with pistols and maybe hunting too.

How these idiots reconcile these positions with “You own cannon and a small warship? Cool! We’re going to need that in the next war!” is beyond me. Private planes, private tanks, etc. should be perfectly fine and not required to jump through a ton of hoops…

    • AlexinCT

If your agenda was to turn the common man into a serf again, them being armed this way is a serious problem for you and your idiot agenda…

    • hayeksplosives

The definition of “high capacity” magazines being >10 is farcical.

      • AlexinCT

Unless it is an A-team clip, it is not high capacity.

      • UnCivilServant

Oh, come on, Five hundred rounds isn’t a lot.

I mean, I hardly hit anything!

      • AlexinCT

Do not confuse the fact that the A-team had clips that never ran out of rounds and the fact that they couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn when shooting, as counterbalancing things, please UCS.

      • Bobarian LMD

      • WTF

30-round magazines for ARs and 15-round magazines for semi-auto pistols are “standard capacity”. 10-rounds for either is “reduced capacity”.

    • EvilSheldon

There’s no reconciling going on here. Judge Immergut had already decided on the outcome she wanted – her job as judge was to come up with some legal-sounding whagarble justification that would look good in the press.

Ferrari took care of business in Singapore.

And Mercedes gambling on the mediums on the last safety car (or VSC, I don’t remember) gave us an entertaining last 10 laps until Russell’s tires gave up the ghost on him and he plowed into the wall. Be very interesting to see what happens in Japan — did Red Bull have to change something they’re not admitting to (like back when Ferrari mysteriously had to lose engine power and it came out later they were being investigated) or did Singapore just not agree with their car like every other track this season? If they stay mysteriously much slower than they’ve been, I’m going to think the tin foil has a point.

    • The Last American Hero

Red Bull has never looked great in Singapore. I don’t know if it’s the heat or something in the car setup, but they always seem to have some issues there.

“The whole thing about money. The ability to be able to pay money, just isn’t part of the scenario anymore,” Mitchell said. “Before the Pretrial Fairness Act, a judge could make a determination that a person is eligible for release, but they had to pay a certain amount of money. The new system basically makes a determination about whether someone is eligible to be released, just like the old system, and the judge, just makes a yes or no decision. “

The cause of death for a Florida death row inmate found dead in his cell while awaiting execution last year has been released.

The Tampa Bay Times filed a records request for the autopsy results, and learned It was acute fentanyl toxicity that killed Stephen Todd Booker, 69, who was found dead inside the jail in which he was being held on Nov. 3., 2022.

Booker had been on death row for decades for the 1977 murder of a Gainesville woman.

“The former Yale student who was acquitted of rape in 2018 — but later ousted from the Ivy League institution — can sue his accuser for defamation over statements she made during a school hearing, the Connecticut Supreme Court ruled this summer….

Connecticut’s high court granted Khan’s request in June. The court ruled that the accuser shouldn’t receive “qualified immunity” from her school testimony that Khan raped her following a Halloween party in 2015.

“For absolute immunity to apply under Connecticut law,” the June decision says, “fundamental fairness requires meaningful cross-examination in proceedings like the one at issue.”

“During the hearing, Khan’s team listened to the woman’s testimony from a separate room and never got the opportunity to question her. The court ruling said this left his defense attorney to act as a “potted plant.”

The court also said the Yale hearing couldn’t be considered quasi-judicial because they didn’t make the woman testify under oath and they didn’t provide Khan’s side with a transcript of the testimony.”

    Something very sad has happened.

    Matt Easton of @scholagladiato1
a long-time collaborator and friendly peer in the Youtube sword community has just chosen to cut off all association with me, Shad, and my channel Shadiversity.

    https://twitter.com/shadmbrooks/status/1701614455665115490

Cancel culture has reached sword nerd youtube. Now the post is long, the kind for which the standard meme rfesponjse on today’s internet is “I aint readin all that, but congratulations or I am sorry that happened”.

Now on occasion I have watched youtubes on both channels, and they can be informative and not really political. That being said I was aware that Shad was a social conservative and devout Mormon, so not really on the good side of the wokes. At the end of the tweet is Mat Easton’s message, and given the phrasing it is clear he caved in to woke cancel mod outrage, which makes Matt a little bitch.

Furthermore he goes on with crap like I was not aware of his views or do not support em blah blah which is doubly annoying because “just because I professionally collaborate with someone does not mean I support all his views” should go without saying whic is caving to the lefts nonsense about how everything is political and you never associate with someone with the wrong views. I am not a fan of either but a casual watcher of both channels and am rather diasppoint in Matt. Very weak and well unmanly for a HEMA / weapons expert.

    • R.J.

Would you use a sword made by someone who is woke? That means they prioritize something else over making the best possible weapon. The guy is making a mistake in caving.

“A Brooklyn Supreme Court suit filed last week claimed Christopher Jackson, 43, was hired to be Dr. Gabriel Hershman’s personal driver in April 2022 — taking him from his Queens home to his Jewish studies, to get coffee, and then to his 65th Street office in Brooklyn, and finally back home at the end of the day.

Starting in mid-April, Hershman, 40, “began talking about the small size of his penis” which became “an obsessive topic of conversation” — bringing up the topic at least four times a week, including saying he “wished he could add inches to it,” the suit claims.

The doctor also told Jackson about his “horrible sex life” with his wife — and joked about the driver’s sex life, including once telling Jackson as they passed by a motel a “fat n—r named Shanequa would come to your room and sit on your face … you know you want that,” the filing charges.

The doctor also on multiple occasions allegedly asked Jackson to look at him while he rubbed his groin over his clothes “making moaning sounds and saying he was about to ejaculate,” the suit claims — and that when Jackson began refusing to look, the doctor would insist on making eye contact with him in the rearview mirror, the court papers claim.”

Douse frog legs generously with hot sauce. Sprinkle white flour over and mix by. hand until legs are covered with a gooey paste.
Toss into a bowl with pure white flour until legs are fully coated. Drop into a pot with vegetable oil at 350F. After one minute stir so they dont stick to each other. After about 4 minutes remove them, douse them with hot sauce and ketchup and eat.

    Guns are randomly killing kids!

“We’re just devastated,” said Kenya Darby, 33, who is engaged to Cunningham’s father and lives with the family. Noting surging violent crime in the District, she said, “We’re always trying to make sure he is doing the right thing, making sure he was where he was supposed to be.”

That would be home, school, work and a boxing gym.

“He was where he was supposed to be at,” Darby said. “He was doing what he was supposed to be doing. And someone took his life.”

The other folk were pretty cool. This time will be the first with the chick-I-haven’t-met doing it. We’ll see. It’ll be just fine.

As for sports, I officially call this the end of the Cubs chance to win the division. It was shaky-but-possible before. Now, even with three against them to end the season, it’s too much ground to cover.

The (good) Chicago Blue got swept by the D-Backs. We really should still be in the postseason, and we probably will be as one of two wildcards. It doesn’t even bother me if they lose that. I kinda-sorta prefer it. This is a young team and needs some direction. Giving them just a taste of the playoffs should be motivation enough for them to improve-what-needs-improvin’ over the offseason and get ready for Next Year.

Still a chance we could drop out of the wildcard race. That also wouldn’t bother me. Just a taste to get them hungry. Just missing out altogether can serve the same function. I want them thinking about what they can do better. In all honesty, this team outperformed everybody’s expectations. Down 10 games below 500 to surging up to 10 OVER? That’s rare, especially for a team this untested.

Some hunger pains will make them better next year. It is known.

Because of all the Japanese in Rio de la Plata?

Erg. I hate giving a serious answer to things like this.

The thing about tango is there’s not set choreography. The communication is all about touch. The leader shifts the weight of the two dancers so that the follower wants to move to retain the balance of the system, and more importantly the lead needs to create a/the space for the follower to move into and how they will move into that space (or least a neutral space for the follower to improvise).

Knowing the balance of the system, shifting it, and creating the path for the balance to shift is the same process in getting a fall in judo, and practing the latter helps with the former.

    Projection inception.

Pelosi said, “The former occupant of the White House has always been about projection. He knows that he’s responsible for that, so he projects it on to others. His instigation of it insurrection, and assault in our Constitution, the day we were supposed to approve, and we did, the work of the Electoral College results, the assault on the Capitol building, the assault on the Constitution, the assault on our democracy. Shame on him.”

She continued, “He always projects. Now he used to say, well, she turned down my troops no, we, Chuck Schumer and I begged him to send the troops again and again.

    Brazen lie is brazen.

“There is the sickness here that has to be an intervention. That intervention has to be the election, which we have to win. That’s one of the reasons why I am running again, to fight for our democracy. Which is at stake, if he’s on the ballot.”

So you are going to rig it again.

The Detroit companies’ labor costs, including wages and benefits, are estimated at an average of $66 an hour

It’s an impossible question to answer, but what per centage of the cost of building a car is the cost of labor?

    • prolefeed

Final assembly alone is around 70 man- hours per car. That doesn’t include the time spent on UAW shops building components prior to final assembly.

So, the UAW demands, if fully caved in to, would add a out $5,000 to the cost of a new car just for final assembly.

10-15% is the standard answer for the industry.

But the margins aren’t that great when the economy is shaky and certainly not when it is bad, and meanwhile Tesla, Toyota, Subaru, and others are all running non-union plants in your own country.

I, for one, am shocked that a cold produces cold symptoms.

Doctors say they’re finding it increasingly difficult to distinguish Covid from allergies or the common cold, even as hospitalizations tick up.

The illness’ past hallmarks, such as a dry cough or the loss of sense of taste or smell, have become less common. Instead, doctors are observing milder disease, mostly concentrated in the upper respiratory tract.

“It isn’t the same typical symptoms that we were seeing before. It’s a lot of congestion, sometimes sneezing, usually a mild sore throat,” said Dr. Erick Eiting, vice chair of operations for emergency medicine at Mount Sinai Downtown in New York City.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

So it’s following the pathway of least resistance to easier transmission with less severity? Who could have seen that coming?

      • Rebel Scum

Everyone with a layman’s understanding of cold/flu viruses, which most people had until about January 2020.

      • Ownbestenemy

They cannot admit anything. I would wager the vast majority of medical industry knew this path and knew it would fold into a common cold. Doing so though would require them to say they lied willfully, ignored their own 10-12 years of medical schooling, or were simply bought off with pharma and FedGov $$$

Fetterman raced down the highway on Saturday on his way to Detroit to join the autoworker strike.

    He can drive?

“Key demands from the union have included 40% hourly pay increases; a reduced, 32-hour, workweek; a shift back to traditional pensions; the elimination of compensation tiers; and a restoration of cost-of-living adjustments. Other items on the table include enhanced retiree benefits and better vacation and family leave benefits,” CNBC reported.

    Don’t forget the unicorn.

Fetterman spoke gibberish as he tried to take a shot at CEOs.

“The CEOs, you know, at $74 million, you know, collectively earning, you know, how many yachts can they need, you know, the yacht – to waters [unintelligible] – ski behind it, you know! I mean it’s crazy! I don’t understand!” Fetterman said.

David McCormick, the guy who the Trump-endorsed Dr. Oz beat in the GOP primary by only 950 votes, is lined up to take on Sen. Bob Casey (D) in 2024. Casey’s claim to fame is his father’s name – a popular Pa. governor 1987-1995 – and that he lays low and only pops up every 6 years when it is time to run for re-election.

  54. Rebel Scum

There is a simple solution to this.

Thousands of the migrants on the Italian island of Lampedusa have decided to break out of the temporary asylum center and are now building road blocks as a protest against the authorities.

They demand to be allowed to go to mainland Europe immediately.

    Global justice

The commitments were far-reaching and ambitious. Among them: End extreme poverty and hunger. Ensure every child on Earth gets a quality secondary education. Achieve gender equality. Make significant inroads in tackling climate change. Create “universal access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.” And achieve all of this by 2030.

Halfway to that goal, progress is lagging badly — and in some cases going backward.

At a two-day summit that begins Monday, U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will be trying to kick-start action to achieve the 17 goals adopted by world leaders in 2015, which developing countries in particular consider crucial to closing the widening inequality gap between the world’s rich and poor countries.

The goals, Guterres said, are “about righting historic wrongs, healing divisions and putting our world on a path to lasting peace.”

A bunch of two year olds would come up with a set of more realistic and achievable goals.

    • juris imprudent

That inequality gap is based on western values, so they are importing colonialism by adopting that as a concern.

  56. The Late P Brooks

At the current rate, the report said, 575 million people will still be living in extreme poverty and 84 million children won’t even be going to elementary school in 2030 – and it will take 286 years to reach equality between men and women.

“The SDGs need a global rescue plan,” the U.N. chief said. He called the summit “the moment for governments to come to the table with concrete plans and proposals to accelerate progress.”

It isn’t just governments that need to step up, Guterres said. He urged activists as well as the business community, scientists, academics, innovators, women and young people to join in working to achieve the goals.

Meanwhile, wealthy and well fed UN “dignitaries” will offer advice from the sidelines.

    • Suthenboy

Wow. Apparently Libya has had a run of bad luck.

In case someone doesn’t understand my reference: “Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

This is known as “bad luck.”
      ― Robert Heinlein

“Well folks, we have had a run of bad luck.” – Barak Obama in state of the union address to explain why the economy was tanking (I dont remember the year)

Republican presidential candidate Mike Pence said it’s in America’s interest to provide aid to Ukraine. The former vice president worries the U.S. military may end up having to get involved if Russia is not stopped.

“I’m convinced that if the Ukrainian military doesn’t stop and repel that Russian invasion, it’s not going to be too long before that Russian army crosses a border that our men and women in uniform are going to have to go and fight (for) under our NATO Treaty. I truly believe it,” Pence told NewsNation host Leland Vittert during a townhall appearance.

Pence said giving Ukraine the resources they need to fight, win and drive the Russian military back is also ultimately in the interest of “peace and security in the world.”

A February U.N. report on the SDG Stimulus said debt is battering the economies of many developing countries. It said that as of last November, 37 of the world’s 69 poorest countries were either at high risk or already in debt distress, while one in four middle-income countries, which contain the majority of the extreme poor, were at “high risk of fiscal crisis.”

That’s pretty much inevitable when your policies destroy wealth instead of creating it.

I always laugh at people that tell me you can’t trust studies paid for by the fossil fuel industry because they lie but then don’t see entities that need government funds for their research are far worse liars (government cans spend far more money than the fossil fuel industry by orders of magnitude, and it shows).
