I’m okay with this.

Tonight is the Pro Bowl, which signifies there’s only one game left to the NFL season. It’s been a weird one.

As for the PB, I’m actually okay with it being a flag football game, as opposed to the previous circle jerk. The players are having fun and putting in some effort. And it’s a good excuse to eat hot dogs and drink beer.

Speaking of hot dogs, links anyone?

It’s been interesting watching the coverage of this. The outright vilification in the media is amazing(not really). And good luck trying to find a picture of the protest, as opposed to just individual protestors.

With as much derp as exists in the LA basin, an annual flushing is a good thing. We have compatriots who are sandbagging their homes as I write this. Good thoughts sent out to all our SoCal Glibs.

Speaking of derp.

For you fashionistas. Time to dust off the costume jewelry.

Rabbis like to crank the hog too.

Um. Okay. I guess NYC is just a different kind of place.

Little fucker had it comin’.

And lastly, we lost Chubbs yesterday.

Okay folks, that’s it for me. Have a peaceful rest of your weekend.

Back when Sparky Anderson was skipper of the Detroit Tigers, there was a hot dog vendor at old Tiger Stadium who would yell “Sparky dogs! Get your Sparky dogs here!!”. Ah, you just can’t beat fun at the old ballpark.

    • hayeksplosives

I always had fun at the St Paul Saints games. Cheaper and more fun than MLB.

Sometimes Bill Murray (part owner of the Saints) comes in and serves hotdogs or other ballpark vendor food just to give folks a fun surprise and a story.

Thanks for the heads-up about this. Just checked, and sure enough – the NASCAR event that someone thought was a good idea, a limited number of cars running around an impossibly short track crammed into the Rose Bowl, got moved up to tonight instead of tomorrow night. Will probably tune in just to see if hilarity ensues.

Best wishes to SoCal Glibs – stay safe! (Also obligatory.)

I was by the Coliseum (not the Rose Bowl) earlier today and could hear the cars practicing.

The reason we went though was to see the space shuttle Emdeavour which was recently attached to an external fuel tank and two boosters in the upright position before they finish building its new home around it. It’s pretty frickin cool y’all. for all the other shit around here there are things that remain awesome.

When we went home we did in fact put sandbags in front of our garage. The last round of storms dropped about 3 5 inches of rain and we got some water under the garage door. Other people were not so lucky though.
And this storm’s supposed to be worse – though it’ll be heaviest north of me toward Santa Barbara.

The (no joke, Tim Horton’s) NHL All Star-Game was actually a lot of fun. They play 3-on-3 (plus goalies) and it’s more about puck handling and skillful play. Not one (hard) check seen. The players voted for the all-stars themselves, and best of all: The winning team splits $1 million. Nice for each player to have a ~$100k stake in the game.

I played full-contact high school hockey for two seasons plus a summer league. I started as a COMPLETE rookie. We won the championship game 4-3 and I scored my very first goal, a one-timer. Passed from the best player on either team to the absolute worst. Great memory.

Today has been pretty tricky. Felt Off most of the day, and even still. Not Scary Off, but in the ballpark. I need to get out of my current gig ASAP. It is legit unhealthy.

Colorado House Bill 24-1163 enters a new level of big government and big taxes. The bill will add a new tax of up to $8.50 (but actually up to $25) on EACH pet and it includes ALL animals, even invertebrates. The tax is paid every year. It also requires every pet to be registered with the State and assigned a “designated caregiver.” If you do not name a “designated caregiver,” the cost for each pet is $25 annually. There is no cap or per household type of maximum taxation. This will also be in addition to any local taxes (like dog licenses).

NM is so small that we get overlooked by media. A waiting period for firearms purchase is in the future, thanks to the D-dominated legislature and “Lyin’ Lujan”, the governor.

There used to be bumper stickers saying, “Don’t Californicate New Mexico” but those have been long gone.

The migrants first steal phones from victims and then use Apple Pay and credit cards to make large purchases back in their home countries, the sources said.

“They’re buying cars back in Ecuador and Venezuela,” the police source said. “They’re putting pools in their homes there. All this money is going back and forth. That’s why the larcenies are going out of control. It’s unbelievable what they’re doing.”

Anyone who comes will be actually coming for a better life, instead of to help the FedGov loot.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if it was revealed that certain immigrants are given government help that is unavailable to natural citizens. It wouldn’t surprise me if such immigrants are never audited by the IRS or the various regulatory agencies.

Here’s a picture I took of the Endeavour. Obviously the lower half is hiding (they had to lift the shuttle over the wall and very carefully attach it to the rest) but hopefully you get an idea of the size. They will enclose the new Space museum for the next two years or so ( which is why the shuttle is wrapped).

      From the article:
“ The father of three was picking his wife up from work when 28-year-old Artell Cunningham got inside his parked car outside of an office building on K street and shot him in the head around 5:45 p.m., according to police.

After the shooting, Cunningham fled on foot. He tried to steal another vehicle around 7 p.m. on 3rd Street. About 10 minutes later, he fatally shot 35-year-old Alberto Vazquez, Jr. and drove off in his car.

He stole two more cars before he allegedly opened fire at a D.C. police officer along I-295 and a Maryland State Police trooper who was assisting a disabled vehicle along I-95 in Laurel, Maryland around 2:30 a.m. the next day.

      No officers were injured.

Around 4:30 a.m., Cunningham was shot and killed by New Carrollton police officers after he allegedly came at them with two guns in Prince George’s County.

Officials believe the rampage was the result of a mental breakdown.”
