Tonight is the Pro Bowl, which signifies there’s only one game left to the NFL season. It’s been a weird one.
As for the PB, I’m actually okay with it being a flag football game, as opposed to the previous circle jerk. The players are having fun and putting in some effort. And it’s a good excuse to eat hot dogs and drink beer.
Speaking of hot dogs, links anyone?
It’s been interesting watching the coverage of this. The outright vilification in the media is amazing(not really). And good luck trying to find a picture of the protest, as opposed to just individual protestors.
With as much derp as exists in the LA basin, an annual flushing is a good thing. We have compatriots who are sandbagging their homes as I write this. Good thoughts sent out to all our SoCal Glibs.
For you fashionistas. Time to dust off the costume jewelry.
Rabbis like to crank the hog too.
Um. Okay. I guess NYC is just a different kind of place.
And lastly, we lost Chubbs yesterday.
Okay folks, that’s it for me. Have a peaceful rest of your weekend.
I have a package of God’s Chosen Wieners in my fridge right now…
Hebrew National are the best. I agree.
And the pic inspires me to get some skyline chili for a proper Cincinnati Coney™.
GlendAle House Brewery in (duh!) Glendale, north of Cincy, has a Cincy Chili pizza made with the genuine article and complete with sliced hot dogs. It’s dee-licious!
I’ve made the Frisch’s Big Boy Pizza before.
Its not bad. Kind of a novelty.
I’ve got an open pack in the fridge that needs to be made gone.
Out with husband. Saw the front page img and said “I want a coney chili cheese dog.” And here we are.
Then got out of the car with said dogs.
Me: “I don’t want to drop these.”
Dude: “Then I would have sad wieners.”
Ha!
I just polished off the last of my left over pork and rice. It was unquestionably pushing the outer edge of the envelope, age-wise, but it was just too darn tasty to throw away. I feel f
I don’t know what I’m having for dinner but I’m going to eat it, like it or not. Mrs F cooks, I eat. That’s the only rule.
The chicken-bacon-ranch pizza that I let set out all night and half a day on my counter, then had for lunch yesterday, hasnt killed me yet.
yeah, I am gonna go ahead and call Avila a bald faced liar and propagandist. ‘Hundreds’ of vehicles? I see two dudes.
L.A. washed away in a giant flood? N.O. blown away by another hurricane?
Where is my popcorn?
Porn? I only watch it when I cant sleep. Puts me out in less than a minute. Other people like it? Good for them.
LEAVE THE KIDS OUT OF IT.
At what point do we stop paying attention to what the courts have to say? Do they have a shred of credibility left?
Ugh. How did I screw that up?
Was supposed to be a reply to Tres….hasnt killed you yet? Are you posting on a mobile from the only room the king is allowed to enter alone?

Back when Sparky Anderson was skipper of the Detroit Tigers, there was a hot dog vendor at old Tiger Stadium who would yell “Sparky dogs! Get your Sparky dogs here!!”. Ah, you just can’t beat fun at the old ballpark.
I always had fun at the St Paul Saints games. Cheaper and more fun than MLB.
Sometimes Bill Murray (part owner of the Saints) comes in and serves hotdogs or other ballpark vendor food just to give folks a fun surprise and a story.
Thanks for the heads-up about this. Just checked, and sure enough – the NASCAR event that someone thought was a good idea, a limited number of cars running around an impossibly short track crammed into the Rose Bowl, got moved up to tonight instead of tomorrow night. Will probably tune in just to see if hilarity ensues.
Best wishes to SoCal Glibs – stay safe! (Also obligatory.)
Also slippin’. And car racing.
Dave Edmunds was great.
Mad Scientist is expecting 10″ from this storm.
That is an insane amount of rain in what is essentially a desert.
I was by the Coliseum (not the Rose Bowl) earlier today and could hear the cars practicing.
The reason we went though was to see the space shuttle Emdeavour which was recently attached to an external fuel tank and two boosters in the upright position before they finish building its new home around it. It’s pretty frickin cool y’all. for all the other shit around here there are things that remain awesome.
When we went home we did in fact put sandbags in front of our garage. The last round of storms dropped about 3 5 inches of rain and we got some water under the garage door. Other people were not so lucky though.
And this storm’s supposed to be worse – though it’ll be heaviest north of me toward Santa Barbara.
I stand corrected. Thanks! Ignorantly thought they were one and the same (i.e. RB event was held at Coliseum.)
It’s not a storm until Carpinteria slides into the Pacific.

Isnt that where Karen Carpenter is from ?
I didn’t know she was a kiwi.
I had a soft maple tree in my backyard covered in these really skinny ants.
They were Karen Carpenter ants.
Blimey, a boomtown.
Probably due to the Covid lockdowns.
But it never rains there.
So the calm before the storm?
Or the troubled years before the deluge?
We’ll just have to see if it is historical enough for Randy to sing about it.
Rose Bowl? It was at the LA Coliseum.
FWIW, I work at Fox Sports. I can only assume they and NASCAR thought having it at the Coliseum would draw more viewers (it actually did).
“This is a problem that has been building for decades in our country. COVID certainly worsened it and poured fuel on the fire. But that fire was burning before,” said Dr. Vivek Murthy.
In addition to the county-wide resolution, Canepa is also sending a letter to Gov. Gavin Newsom.
In it, he asks the governor create a new minister of loneliness position for the state.
Forget the obvious Kim Jong Il jokes — this seems like a job for Caseworker Alice Pitney.
I feel like I’m having a decent hair day. Also my new ice maker arrived so I can actually have a decent drink tonight.

Wish I could say the same about my hair day!
When do you intend to get the Zoom party started?
Little fucker had it comin’.
Q: What’s the last thing they do with Elmo dolls before the dolls leave the factory?
A: Give them two test tickles.
At my age I lose chubbs more often than I’d like.

Mmmm… chili dogs.
Finally, someone is going to do something for those experiencing companionlessness.
When you’ve already condemned Israel and run out of other issues to stick your locality nose in.
The (no joke, Tim Horton’s) NHL All Star-Game was actually a lot of fun. They play 3-on-3 (plus goalies) and it’s more about puck handling and skillful play. Not one (hard) check seen. The players voted for the all-stars themselves, and best of all: The winning team splits $1 million. Nice for each player to have a ~$100k stake in the game.
I played full-contact high school hockey for two seasons plus a summer league. I started as a COMPLETE rookie. We won the championship game 4-3 and I scored my very first goal, a one-timer. Passed from the best player on either team to the absolute worst. Great memory.
Today has been pretty tricky. Felt Off most of the day, and even still. Not Scary Off, but in the ballpark. I need to get out of my current gig ASAP. It is legit unhealthy.
Well. Who ever said life was supposed to be easy?
The skills game was fun. I couldn’t really get into the all-star game; maybe just too distracted for whatever reason.
My internet says it’s tomorrow afternoon? Are you writing from the future?
We’ll need the Cal score.
Yeah, I fucked that up.
Rabbis like to crank the hog too.
Doesn’t sound kosher, there must be a different (((euphemism))) – probably involving sheep?
Something something rod and staff, something something comfort me.
May need a ruling from CreosoteAchilles on that.
At the moment, he’s unavailable. All tied up.
Surely knot!
Surely you can’t be serious.
STOP CALLING ME SHIRLY!
Can one tell which team a Pro Bowl player is on by whether his hat is facing forward or backward?
I believe they are sorted by shoes sizes as opposed to hat position.
I’m looking forward to the “Florida Man in Texas stories”.
Colorado House Bill 24-1163 enters a new level of big government and big taxes. The bill will add a new tax of up to $8.50 (but actually up to $25) on EACH pet and it includes ALL animals, even invertebrates. The tax is paid every year. It also requires every pet to be registered with the State and assigned a “designated caregiver.” If you do not name a “designated caregiver,” the cost for each pet is $25 annually. There is no cap or per household type of maximum taxation. This will also be in addition to any local taxes (like dog licenses).
https://usark.org/24co/
“The bill is titled the “PET ANIMAL REGISTRATION ACT” and it was introduced by Representative Regina English.”
Children registration (will all the appropriate fees and such) is next on the agenda.
“Hey! I know how we can gouge more money out of the people.”
Dont forget the massive nut they get from forcing people to do ridiculous things against their will.
Putting Regina English in one of those dunk tanks, but one filled with crocodiles?
Vagina English?
Sounds like a Smiths cover band.
I thought it was just lesbian ebonics.
That’s a good Depeche Mode cover band name.
CO citizen: “Look, we know how fucked up CA is so we understand you wanting to leave. That is fine, just dont bring your CA shit here.”
CA refugee: “We won’t, we promise.”
Texas and Colorado need to start using crop dusters to spray fipronil over every square inch of their states
NM is so small that we get overlooked by media. A waiting period for firearms purchase is in the future, thanks to the D-dominated legislature and “Lyin’ Lujan”, the governor.
There used to be bumper stickers saying, “Don’t Californicate New Mexico” but those have been long gone.
Every year it gets worse and I’m getting too old to move away. That map that came up earlier today is wrong; NM will be part of the west coast split. Too bad, this used to be a “free” state.
The moving options get smaller every year. WA now has a 10 day waiting period for all purchases and you need to have a training course certificate to buy any type of firearm.
Come to Iowa
I lived in Cedar Rapids for around three years. Some of the most hospitable people I’ve ever met.
Same slogan here. Fuckers moved here anyways.
California fucked up Colorado in the ’70s. I blame John Denver.
Sounds like pure hell if your kid has an ant farm.
Aquarium full of tropical fish.
7 year old: “Dad, can I get some guppies?”
Dad: “We’ll keep them in the toilet and flush them down if the inspector comes”
Not sure what is more insulting, the idea of filling out a form for this or posting the tax. I assume this has no chance of going anywhere.
+1 Overton window.
Fer fucks sake, god I hate this state more every day.
“f we’re feeling depressed we often have stomach pains, or body aches, muscle aches, headaches, migraines, I mean you name it,” Dr. Zorbas said.”
Bring lonely gives you the wimpiest complaints. Dumb, suck it up.
“She pled guilty to assault on three occasions between 2015 and 2017.
In each case, she was given probation or mental health counseling.”
That’s some serious female privilege.
Dr. Zorbas should try dancing.
That judge needs to be removed from the bench. And I’m guessing that woman shouldn’t be anywhere near her kids.
Maybe that no bail plus open borders plus sanctuary city thing wasn’t a good idea.
Cop-beating migrants who fled to California may have bought cars and pools with stolen phones: NYPD sources
Immigrants are a blessing, not a burden. I saw it on a yard sign so it must be true.
Not impossible, but it also sounds like the sort of story put out there to induce panic.
The beatdown and blowing town are absolutely true.
The other criminal activity is from “sources”.
We are a nation of chumps.
The first step in solving “the immigration crisis” is to eliminate all government largesse.
Anyone who comes will be actually coming for a better life, instead of to help the FedGov loot.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if it was revealed that certain immigrants are given government help that is unavailable to natural citizens. It wouldn’t surprise me if such immigrants are never audited by the IRS or the various regulatory agencies.
Come down South, if you aren’t there already. You’ll see just how much money is flowing to the illegals. Medicaid (I know citizens who can’t get what these people have) and food stamps. They work off the books.
Just give Joe Biden another $100 billion for Ukraine and he’ll remember how to close the border.
We can all rest easy.
Taylor Swift can ‘comfortably’ get from Tokyo to the Super Bowl, Japanese Embassy says
Makes the whole lack of a southern border easier to come to terms with.
Remember when you used a physical key with a car?
Our Range Rovers are not UK’s most-stolen car, says Jaguar Land Rover
Kia says thanks to JLR!
Here’s a picture I took of the Endeavour. Obviously the lower half is hiding (they had to lift the shuttle over the wall and very carefully attach it to the rest) but hopefully you get an idea of the size. They will enclose the new Space museum for the next two years or so ( which is why the shuttle is wrapped).
Hopefully this works.

That’s super cool
I did the historical tour of the old launch sites about 12 years ago. It was neat to hear stories from the guides that worked thete in the early days.
I watched it fly over the NASA facility at Moffett Field. It was a low pass and so in some ways more fun as watching the first manned flight land at Edwards. It was a better show but not as cool as the twin sonic booms.

Dang nab it Athena! Don’t make think I have to visit Cali again.
Great photo.
Very cool!
What’s the black plane in the lower left of the photo?
I thought it may be an SR-71. But the tail section doesn’t look quite right.
He had dirt on Hillary? Or the DNC is just flexing?
Former Trump official Mike Gill dead days after Washington DC carjacking: report
From the article:
“ The father of three was picking his wife up from work when 28-year-old Artell Cunningham got inside his parked car outside of an office building on K street and shot him in the head around 5:45 p.m., according to police.
After the shooting, Cunningham fled on foot. He tried to steal another vehicle around 7 p.m. on 3rd Street. About 10 minutes later, he fatally shot 35-year-old Alberto Vazquez, Jr. and drove off in his car.
He stole two more cars before he allegedly opened fire at a D.C. police officer along I-295 and a Maryland State Police trooper who was assisting a disabled vehicle along I-95 in Laurel, Maryland around 2:30 a.m. the next day.
No officers were injured.
Around 4:30 a.m., Cunningham was shot and killed by New Carrollton police officers after he allegedly came at them with two guns in Prince George’s County.
Officials believe the rampage was the result of a mental breakdown.”
Nice looking family.
I wonder if Vazquez had a wife and kids.
I lean heavily to conspiracy theory, usually, but my gut says this was just a carjacking gone sideways.
Listening to old Art Bell, and as I’ve said, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Waco hearings. Almost no coverage in national media (less than a minute per major network). A handful of stories in places like the NYT’s, though dwarfed by the number of stories on the role of the NRA.
Affirmative action controversies. Half the graduating class int he IVy League there because of race and gender.
Bullshit on the gender wage gap.
It’s like poetry. It rhymes.
We cannot get to Arizona Bay soon enough.

Where are the parents to object to this shit? No mention of them in the article; I guess they might as well not exist. But when your school is being taken over by “trained Marxists”, there’s kind of no one else left able to resist.
In prison for domestic terrorism?
I think they’re just not paying attention.
I was thinking SMOD.
I’m calling it…last.

It’s only $200 per hour $1,500 a day if you really want to, heh, pamper yourself and they have a genuine sexologist and everything…a real bargain if you ask me.
Oh, please. Get over yourself.
Freedom and liberty and all that but I do have to admit I wouldn’t be too thrilled if a business catering to fat 40 year dudes with a coprophilic sexual fetish set up shop in my neighborhood.
What if they set up a shop catering to your sexual fetish? 😉
Is there a term for having sex with Slavic women while listening to a Korean woman doing ASMR in Japanese?
Trademark one and make millions!
I had to look up “ASMR”

I blame the vodka.
So do I.

Good morning!
What kind of coffee is that?
I was getting bored with my usual Peet’s.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007TGDXMK
So I switched it up a bit.
K-cups? What a monster. :-p
Right?
How does it compare to Peet’s?
I like it. Stronger aroma and (imo) slightly deeper flavor.
I keep the pods in a Ziploc baggie cuz the different packaging.
The company’s website has articles on coffee trends in 2024, and the difference between Italian and French roast coffees.
We got the tub of McDonald’s brand coffee from Walmart.
My favorite brand of coffee is Eight O’Clock, because I’m a sucker for marketing, and that name is genius. It brings to my mind images of sitting at a kitchen table with the morning sunshine streaming through the window, but also a party at night in a high-rise condo, with beautiful people milling about and socializing.

Good morning, Sean, cav, rhy, Stinky, and Ted’S.!

Congrats NJ! 🎉
Mornin’ all
Good morning, Beau!
When I see a bumper sticker that says “If you can read this thank a teacher” I translate that to “If you can read this thank your parents”
I remember from second grade little Tommy Saltz red shirted ’cause his reading wasn’t at the hoped for level., Only one in the class.
In high school a couple boys in the class ahead of me got a sabbatical for coming drunk to a school dance, they graduated a year later.
Today, I dunno.
I remember from second grade picking my nose and wiping the booger on the wall, and then another student loudly tattled on me.
The teacher yelled at *him*.
From the Russian Times:
“ American journalist Tucker Carlson has spent several days in Russia, where he attended a ballet performance at the Bolshoi Theatre, Telegram channel Mash reported on Saturday, sharing several photos of the conservative commentator.
Carlson allegedly touched down at Vnukovo airport on a Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul on Thursday after several hours’ delay, according to the channel. He was later spotted taking in the ballet Spartacus at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.”
