Banjos asked me to step in for her today. OK, but it’s exam time (last ones before finals) in all my classes. The students are in a foul mood. They are already trying to manipulate their way into extra points and I haven’t even written the fucking things yet.
“Can we get practice exams?”
“Have you done the practice problems I posted?”
“No.”
“Then what good would more practice problems do?”
Pause. “So, can we get practice exams?”
We do practice yearly celebrations, though, and celebrate birthdays, today’s including a guy legendary for being a triple killer; a guy whose writing career resembled a supernova; a wonderful actress who also voiced every great female cartoon character until June Foray came along; a guy who took a licking; a woman who was so stereotypical as a haughty French filmmaker that I couldn’t make up a better character; a woman whose views on guns are memory-holed by her numerous Progressive admirers; a woman who caught George jerking; Pete Buttchug’s spirit animal; my favorite hotel clerk; my favorite playwright; a woman who never let facts get in the way of the best-seller list; a guy who never learned from other people’s fuckups; a mediocre magician with a perfect sense of self-promotion; the inspiration for a Muppet; and a woman who is a running joke in my former research group.
With that, let’s git Linkin’.
Just make AAA Minor League Football and be done with it.
Andres and Hamas really are fine pair. He channels Haniyeh, getting rich by shameless and amoral massive self-promotion while other people do the deadly stunts and pay the price. And of course, the usual Jew-haters lap up the propaganda.
Something that didn’t happen related by someone with serious mental issues. “I’m gay and have had nightmares about being in a concentration camp because of my sexuality.”
Exploiting basic science ignorance for fun and profit.
To tell the truth, “influencers” and “Tik-Tokers” really do need to be punched.

Old Guy Music is always a midweek treat. This one that Rick Beato featured as “The Greatest Solo Ever Played.” Big claim, but hey, it’s a reasonable one.
Morning,,, Old Man?
That’s better than saying “Good morning candy.”
Where is everyone?
I honestly don’t know. I’m at work (remotely)
*shrug*
Perhaps they’re all intimidated by OMWC links on a weekday?
Could be they thought it must be the weekend and went back to sleep?
It took a while for me to get the morning under control.
I’m at work. My boss is back in the office after working remotely for several weeks, so my virtual vacation is over. 😞
College football suffers from the same affliction as politics – too much money in it.
I know some of the basketball players have started unionizing, have any of the college football players decided to try to start/join a players union?
NIL and the transfer portal (in my opinion) are ruining college football. I am not sure which former college football star stated that now, with NIL and transfer portal, the players on form a one- or two-year bond with the college they play for. He said that when he was playing, over the four years the players formed a lifelong bond with their colleges, returning for BIG games and such and mentoring new players to continue traditions. Don’t know, but sounds plausible.
too much money in it
Yes, and the players have been getting none of it (aside from a nominal “scholarship”, which is a rounding error, compared the money the schools and coaches are wallowing in).
Money is also why the Big10 is not taking calls from CST; regardless of how their teams do, the Big10 is national champs where it matters: monetizing their product.
This cannot be – Progressives are just so popular!
He needs to tack Left even more!
Tell those voters any vote against him is RACISM!
This is the guy who pulled a fire alarm in Congress to stop a vote.
I agree. We all know reality has a progressive bias.
World Central Kitchen deaths are propaganda? It’s a confirmed fact that Israel killed them in daylight with what looks like 3 separate drone strikes.
Yes that’s totally what OMWC said. There is no other plausible interpretation.
Okay. That one does look bad. Back in my deployment days, wiping out an aid worker convoy would probably lead to time in Leavenworth.
Wait, they weren’t the enemy?
Pretty sure that’s not true. I remember all sorts of aid/civilians/infrastructure getting murdered to shit during the no-fly zone days in Iraq and Kosovo without anyting more severe than an “Oops, our bad. We’ll try harder not to do that again in the future.”
I am totally willing to believe you were told that you’d be disciplined in such a way. Just like I have to reason to doubt that the destruction of the convoy happened, but have no reason to believe it was a deliberate attempt to kill Jose Andres.
Civilian stuff like the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade, for example.
WSJ had good detail.
https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-east/israel-blames-misidentification-for-strike-that-killed-gaza-aid-workers-f88da70e?st=6nv07c8f58vik34&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink
There most definitely needs to be a court-martial. Note I means this in the proper sense a trial.
That article says it happened at night. Drake says it happened in the daytime. Which is true?
I’d go with the WSJ…
It’s always day and night somewhere.
This is what happens when you talk to software engineers. 😉
Locale was undefined.
I’m pretty sure an “event” by definition has both spatial and temporal locations.
But the observer has an indeterminate local and reporting that it happened from their perspective introduces the possible uncertainty.
It was night. And of course, they depended on perfect coordination between upper echelons and each field unit. At night. In a combat zone. Where the enemy routinely uses civilian disguise.
Yes, action needs to be taken with respect to field command, but this is the tragic but expected result of Andres’s self-promotion.
Either that or you believe that Israelis were eager to systematically hand propaganda victories to their enemies with no gain in the war aims.
The story from the World Kitchen people was they head back to their camp before nightfall.
I am not a tactician, so maybe this is the correct thing to do, but…
*in a convoy heading down the road, one vehicle gets blowed up, apparently without killing the people inside*
“Well that was weird. Let’s get the people from the exploded vehicle into the remaining two and keep going”
*repeat*
“I guess we can all fit in the third truck. Let’s keep going.”
That actually is the correct thing to do. If you get hit, you keep moving if at all possible.
I’d really, really like to see the IFF protocols that were in place for the WCK people.
I can see that being doctrinally correct, but still, after the second strike I’d have thought that getting everyone together in one conveniently dronable target would be a bad idea.
Maybe I’m bad at military tactics, but if I’m in a convoy where someone is repeatedly targeting just the vehicles in the convoy, my first inclination would be to GTFO of the vehicles and take cover, then walk back to base.
Especially when the worst case scenario is a 10 mile walk back, and probably just a couple of miles.
And on the IFF protocols, I’m a little surprised we haven’t heard a recording of the WCK peeps frantically pleading not to be attacked. That would have made excellent propaganda.
Ditching the vehicles and going to ground is possible, but usually a bad idea. Especially if you’re a civilian aid worker with no map, compass, or experience at night navigation in denied areas.
Are you trying to get me to read this series yet again?! 😉
(That’s one of the reasons the series hero is the hero… he’s one of the ‘It is important we really understand what happened so we can fix it, even if that means a friend of mine is called to account!’ types that we all wish/dream the military is completely made of….)
I wouldn’t rule out that they were also smuggling weapons, but I haven’t heard the Israelis claim that, so maybe not.
Im going to go dick and say fuck WCK. If you’re providing support to one side in a warzone, you’re a potential target. Needing to use armored vehicles is a big fucking clue you’re in the wrong place.
And continue to fuck the media that makes this false distinction between Hamas and Gaza.
Happy birthday Mae Questel!
Good morning all.
We are still adrift in an ocean of idiocy and evil, in case y’all haven’t noticed.
*sigh*
Whoever did not put ‘The True Believer’ on the list of required reading in every High School in the nation is in the wrong line of work.
Sunny, no rain and beautiful predicted for the day so I will be outside all day laboring away. Y’all try to behave. I will be keeping my eye on you….
Unfortunately too many now seem to take The True Believer as they do 1984 – as a how-to manual.
Once I can pass up, not twice.
I did notice the ocean… that’s probably why I’m just in a lurking mood today. Mentally, I just don’t want to acknowledge the tides and would rather dance on the beach building my lovely mental sand castles that will be permanent this time!
The world needs more puppies frolicking and less of the news we get.

I don’t have hard data (because I don’t record my inventory and receipts for posterity) — but I suspect it is much worse over here in CA. All the pork restrictions, free range egg restrictions, trucking crap plus minimum wage stuff over the last few years has shot up grocery prices through the roof.
Yay.
And on that note… I’m out of creamer and off to said store.
Gas was up to $3.89 last night. Ridiculous. But Krugman tells us we are imagining it so let’s just pretend everything’s great!
I was on vacation in Seattle. The average there hovered around $5 per gallon. Which is over 50% more than around Austin.
I was wondering what sort of prog fuckery it would take to drive up prices that much, since the gas taxes were 50 cents per gallon.
They hate cars. It’s that simple.
The main fuckery is a “carbon trading system”, in which CO2 credits are allocated and auctioned to people who make or sell carbon-stuff. The cost of the credits is passed on to consumers, of course. The auction price has ranged from $48 per metric ton of CO2, up to about $54 and recently down to the $20s somewhere. Doing the raw math, the highest cost would have added about 46 cents to the cost of gallon of gas. What the actual cost was, I cannot say because I don’t know the details of how the “market” operates. But the system has netted the state some $2 billion in about a year, and that came from consumers, somehow.
Governor Douche Bag’s carbon tax has added avout $0.60 per gallon. I can save about $0.80 per gallon by filling up in Idaho. Before tge tax the different was about $0.20 per gallon.
Ouch. Idaho, here I come.
You and much of California. 😢
Lack of local oil production and refinery capacity. Geographic corner.
In addition to the diuchbaggery and taxes above. It’s always been higher in the PNW.

The last link unironically notes that people have the 1A right against compelled speech – while talking favorably about a mandatory class teaching students to be racist. And where presumably any student pushing back against this hateful content should expect to get a low or failing grade.
The Beacon version of the story goes deeper into the presentyr’s cray-cray.
I’m assuming it is the same incident as this reporting. I was glad at least half of the assembly did not comply with “getting on their knees and bowing down to mama earth” if so.
I suppose they should be glad she didn’t just drag out a Golden Calf or altar to Moloch to be clear on things.
I can totally see this event as being an undercover examination of how the future docs dealt with unstable mentally ill patients.
I like the way you think and wish to visit your website…. (looks around…… Heeeey!)
I dont know if they noted the 1A right against compelled speech. This quote stood out to me (emphasis mine): “The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, a First Amendment civil liberties group, said it is working on confirming the details of the situation but laid out ITS UNDERSTANDING of students’ constitutional rights in the matter.”
I was trying to figure out if “It’s understanding” was an attempt at journalistic neutrality, or if the reporter thought some portion of FIRE’S description of 1A rights was controversial.
“Shocking video shows the moment an epilepsy sufferer is Tasered while having a seizure in front of his horrified fiancé – with cops later handcuffing him as he lies in his hospital bed.
Bruce Frankel, 61, has sued police after a cop stunned and cuffed him, claiming he was resisting arrest – all while the San Anselmo resident was suffering from a grand mal seizure.
His suit alleges battery, false arrest and defamation, according to KTVU, and suggests that police built up a cover-up story by falsely arresting him on bogus charges to justify what he describes as their use of excessive force.
The distressing events began when the financial advisor’s fiancée Alice called 911 at 2.51am on August 29, 2022, reportedly saying her husband was not breathing.
She expected EMTs to arrive, but it was cops who made it to the scene first, with their bodycams recording the whole encounter between Mr Frankel and police officer Kevin Sinnott, as Alice is seen watching on helplessly in the background.”

This is something I worry about – being put in a position to have to defend myself (or my loved ones) against a cop.
I think in most cases like this, I’d pack and transport the victim to the hospital myself. Any excuse not to involve the police.
Yeah, best to just not let them in the house if it’s a medical emergency. Just tell them your waiting for the EMT’s.
I know a lot of EMT’s get annoyed when cops respond to strictly medical situations. They have a bad habit of blocking the scene with their cars, and just generally getting in the way.
Yep. I ain’t gonna watch that.

“Family of Portland girl, 9, file $9m lawsuit against school ‘where she was gang-raped in bathroom by two boys, with attackers suspended for just one day’
According to the lawsuit, in April 2022, two male students in the program, Schools Uniting Neighborhoods, at Scott Elementary School in Northeast Portland, told the girl they would ‘find out where she lives’ if she didn’t tell the staff she needed to use the bathroom.
She complied and went to the bathroom, as the other students followed her, locked her in a stall, took off her pants and each ‘forcibly penetrated’ her, the lawsuit, reviewed by Oregon Live, stated….
Prior to their suspension, instead of getting the police involved in the alleged sexual assault, ‘PPS staff undertook their own internal investigation,’ the lawsuit said.
Staff also interviewed the girl without telling her parents, family or any legal representatives, according to the suit.”

WTF??
What was the oppressor/oppressed axis relationships between the parties involved? We’ll need to get those intersectional coordinates before we can collaboratively and equitably formulate a plan of restorative justice.
“a plan of restorative justice”
Where the family has to pay the two li’l psychopaths because they were traumatized by being publicly accused of raping a 9 year old?
I really should have used “pathway” instead of “plan.”
But, to answer your question,
“While yes the “victim” underwent a horrible trauma that no one should have to experience, it’s imperative that we not lose sight of the fact that the others will have to live with the trauma and agony of this happening for the rest of their lives. We mustn’t exacerbate that trauma nor add additional barriers to their future lives beyond those systemic oppressions that they are already facing.”
They aren’t going to publish pictures of them.
Amazing that there is a line on the victim stack above which rape seems A-OK but here we are. Can’t you just feel the equity?
To be fair, the victim stack involuntary sexual experimenters DID get suspended for an entire day.
/sarc
Damn, Adahn. That’s brilliant. I’m quite certain that’s from actual shit taught to ‘students learning’ this shit from Big Edu. At the local library w the three-year-old and *my* father, there was one of the “Feminist Baby” near-baby book series.
“Feminist Baby’s not afraid to speak
“NO BATHS!” she yells
And away she streaks.”
I’m glad I’m not a parent. Were I, I wouldn’t go to that library. Uh. I kinda love the idea of my generation getting a bit of their own snake oil as their restless toddler refuses many things and simply yells it’s the feminist way. I doubt the parents think enough to have the cognitive dissonance required.
I think you’ll find the required coordinates are just above the bridge of the nose for most of the parties involved.
They can’t let Loudoun County have all the notoriety.

*Puts on Nihilist hat, begins attempt to pass the ideological Turing test*
Nothing has inherent value. Value by necessity requires an evaluator. The fact that this person values the fetus imbues it with “unborn baby status.” Had she not done so, it would merely be excisable tissue.
*begins to push things a bit*
Likewise homeless bums and abandoned oldsters may be unalived without punishment since not only is there anyone valuing their “lives,” but the utility gained by the unaliver exceeds the utility (which is usually negative anyway) by the mesoscale lumps of tissues’ continued metabolism.
Nihilists can be safely put out of our misery. They shouldn’t mind, else they wouldn’t be Nihilists.
Nihilists are not necessarily miserable. They just deny any sort of inherent morality beyond “things I like are good.” Sometimes thy wuss out and rephrase that to “individuals need to find their own meaning” and call themselves existentialists.
*ducks from incoming fire from JI*
I was more playing off the fact that they have declared themselves to be of no inherent value.
There’s no contradiction between saying “my life has no inherent value,” “I (subjectively) value my life,” and “I value my life more than yours.”
Too much subjectivity.
Into the mulcher.
There is only subjectivity when it comes to value, should, ought, etc.
That is where Nietzsche cites morality as arising, whether master or slave – all based on “people like me are good”. Although he would argue that isn’t nihilism.
Perhaps you have an argument about where morality comes from, if not from humans.
I think I’ve been quite clear that the only two coherent moral frameworks are Nihilism or Theocracy.
Saying that morality comes from humans is saying Morality is just Popularity with delusions of grandeur.
Theocracy is humans too. Or did you get a personal set of golden tablets in God’s language (not spoken or readable by humans).

Daily Ray of Sunshine
Harry breaks it down
I’m back in a diesel after 4yrs running both EV & PHEV. What needs to change to get me to go back?
It’s long but very rational and logical. He talks about things like efficiency and battery degradation over time. Surprisingly (to me) he says hot climates seem to be worse for battery degradation than cold, as well as how you charge (fast vs slow).
If I could have any car in Harry’s garage it would be the ’70s Jaguar XJC with the V12 and manual transmission.
The hot storage and use for a battery is well known.
EV’s have charging and efficiency issues in the cold. But actual battery degradation is accelerated by higher temperatures.
It’s a balancing act. Somebody who does winters in Minnesota with the same 20 mile commute will use more battery capacity compared to the same person in Florida. OTH, if the Florida person stores the car outdoors it will experience more natural battery degradation. OTH, keeping the car outdoors in MN will have have less offset by deeper use cycles.
The obvious answer is that you must store and use the car only in stable, climeate-controlled environments.
aka – large areas of population in CA are temperate.
So the whole EVs work great in CA so they should be just fine for the rest of the US. So you have all the progressive states like NJ and NY that adopted CA’s environmental and automotive mandates.
No, even there you have too much temperature swings. You can only operate your EVs indoors in designated hyperloop tunnels.
Buttigieg was on Fox New about noon, selling EVs. I won’t call him retarded but I seriously believe he is mentally challenged.
Something like “If we don’t go EV today the Chinese will win”. He was serious. If he is typical of Biden’s cabinet and there’s
no reason to believe he isn’t, we are bring intentionally destroyed. I cannot fathom the depths of failure of our educational system.
I skipped to the conclusion and that alone was worth it. The money shot was that only 7% of carbon is coming from passenger vehicles. The Scott Adams reframe is that we have people who know how things work on one side, and on the other people who have no idea how anything works. You can say this about EV’s, the border, the economy, all kinds of things.
But in the end, always remember that the end goal of today’s environmentalists is to REDUCE CONSUMPTION. They will lie to you and say you could have the same lifestyle but green. That’s not going to happen. I’m convinced the push to 100% EV’s without updating the grid is a feature, not a bug. That way they can ration charging and force people to drive much less.
I… want to meet her.

Do you think that Millennial GF would approve?
We’re on a mutually incentivizing weight loss plan involving her sexual bucket list. If I lose 20#, I get an MFF. If she loses 20# she gets a MMF.
I am currently ahead.
L O L
Don’t worry if you end up losing there will still be lots of
ahead. She’s too perfect. She’s after your (transplantable) organs.
She really is. Except she doesn’t like guns. I am hoping to either get her involved on the NROI side of things to get better room/reimbursement rates at Nats, or if that fails at least have her dogsit Lily when I’m away.
There are obvious signs of Millennialism though. Like she got a degree in English Literature and went into debt to do so.
Now that’s a goal worth dieting for!
We found the real killers
In the moments before the cargo ship Dali rammed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge and sent it crumbling into the water, a flurry of urgent warnings crackled over radios and enabled police to block traffic from getting on the span, likely saving lives.
But those warnings seemingly didn’t reach the six construction workers who were killed in last week’s collapse of the Baltimore bridge. Their deaths have raised questions about whether the construction company took proper precautions, including keeping a safety boat nearby that might have been able to warn them at least a few seconds before impact.
Federal regulations require construction companies to keep such boats, commonly known as skiffs, on hand whenever crews are working over waterways, safety experts told The Associated Press. There is no indication that the construction company, Brawner Builders, had a rescue boat on the water or ready to be launched as the bridge fell.
“If you’re working over a bridge like that, the standard interpretation doesn’t give you an option,” said Janine McCartney, a safety engineer for HHC Safety Engineering Services Inc. “The skiff is required, period.”
And, just like in the movies, some guy in a Boston Whaler is going to swoop in as the bridge is falling and bring those guys to safety.
Depends. Have they mandated the engine size? /s
We affectionally referred to Boston Whalers as “pounds and drowns” growing up. Great usability and speed and awful in any kind of seas. I’ll take a V-hull.
LIAR You can saw a Boston Whaler in half and it will still work!
* That video made me laugh because all the employee volunteers have to wear dorky life vests. When I was working on a project at Mercury Marine, I got to visit the boat yard they have on Lake Winnebago. They were 100% strict on everyone having to wear life vests at all times, even on the big motor cruisers. If it was under a certain temp they also had to wear the bib overalls. The local workers chuckled at the number of VIP’s who would visit and think that they’d get to ride around on a nice boat and have a few cocktails (oh yeah, no booze on any of the boats either). Instead they’d be told to put on a big life jacket. A lot of those VIP cruises ended up being from the MM boat dock to the dock of a bar about 200 yards down the channel and then back.
When you are ejected from the boat after going over a 6 inch wave it doesn’t really matter if it floats after you cut it in half.
And I remember that commercial.
I remember when tri-hull boats were the Next Big Thing. Then they started having a lot of problems (lots of flipping in choppy water).
Whalers were never much of a thing where I grew up.
No, spearfishing for cheeseheads is one state over.
Growing up on a large bay, the Montauk we had was just perfect. But, yeah, it wasn’t that great when you headed into the Sound.
(And, point of order – the Outrage is a V-hull, but that was too fancy for the likes of us)
Then the guys in the skiff would have been killed too.
The obvious answer is that you must store and use the car only in stable, climeate-controlled environments.
You need a meaningful measure of battery condition and life remaining, which currently does not exist.
Biden is trying to mandate 100% EV’s by 2035 or some such. Meanwhile people are turning away from EV’s because they have a variety of problems and people don’t like them. This is progressive government in a nutshell.
They only dislike them and perceive problems because our messaging hasn’t been effective enough.
Also this exactly.
What is saddest of all – we understand them so much better than they understand us.
The Ideological Turing Test…
Bwahahahahahahaha
JI: Yeah, note that Caplan directly calls out Krugman in the little piece. I can’t find any of the papers now, but I seem to recall that this has been done several times. From memory, (all self-identified) libertarians did the best, conservatives the next best, and the progressives the worst.
But that does confirm my biases quite a bit, my apologies for not having the time to hunt down one of the papers where it was done.
Oh I read the whole thing, and yes, it confirms my biases as well. It’s just that Krugman has so little credibility to begin with.
It was 2032 until election season started. Don’t let that fucker off the hook.
Tesla does have some proprietary process for determining degradation.
No idea how accurate it is. I’m 5.5 years in with low mileage and it claims 6% down from new.
😁😂🤣
…wait, you’re serious?

I really want a Tesla but it has nothing to do with EVs at all. I just loved the ride and feel of it when I drove my friends who lives in California.
There is no such thing as the so called deep state
The Biden administration put the finishing touches Thursday on a plan to restrict presidents from unilaterally nixing civil service protections from large swaths of the federal workforce, as former President Donald Trump renews his vow to uproot a perceived “deep state” if he is returned to the White House.
While a future president could take steps to squelch the new directive, it reflects a larger effort by the Biden administration to put a protective wall around its policies.
Under a final rule issued by the Office of Personnel Management, employees whose jobs include civil service protections would not lose them if their position is converted to an exempt category. However, they could choose to waive that security or voluntarily move to a role that serves at the will of the president — typically highly coveted positions toward the top of an agency’s org chart.
The regulations also establish several procedural hurdles for an administration to clear if it wants to shift jobs between categories. Federal workers who believe they are being stripped of their protections could challenge the move with the independent Merit Systems Protection Board.
We must fight tooth and nail to defend it.
Akshully, there’s a deep state and it’s kinda cool! -Real MSM article
That’s an attempt to define the Deep State as just the local bureaucrats as opposed to a large helping of the intelligence services and upper management at the various government departments.
a final rule
Any rule made, can be unmade.
It is beyond hysterical that they think the can put themselves beyond all accountability. Defer it, sure, and watch the consequences pile up.
I think it is sad because I’m pretty sure that some judge somewhere will agree that Trump cannot issue a rule/EO undoing Biden’s rule/EO because …. Well just because.
Most people will agree with the judge. They won’t answer you when you ask how come Biden could undo all of Trump’s rules/EO’s. Or maybe they will answer and it will be worse than silence. “Because all of Trump’s rules were racist!”
Yeah, and a judge signed off on an entirely bullshit search warrant. There will be consequences – there is nothing in human life where actions don’t have consequences. We may end up having to destroy sovereign immunity, but why the fuck not if that’s what it takes to reach these people?
Just rent some wood chippers.
And of course, the usual Jew-haters lap up the propaganda
I mean it’s a warzone. Any aid is just resupplying Hamas. Insanity for Israel to allow it.
Blow the barriers on the Egypt border and give the Palestinians the choice of ending Hamas on their own or leaving Gaza. The IDF’s chosen option of pussy footing around is just going to continue the festering.
Solid.
By issuing formal regulations on the personnel protections, the administration made it more time-consuming for a future president to reverse them.
“This rule is about making sure the American public can continue to count on federal workers to apply their skills and expertise in carrying out their jobs, no matter their personal political beliefs,” OPM Deputy Director Rob Shriver told reporters.
Those saintly bureaucrats, where would we be without them?
Working tirelessly, day and night for little pay, with no agenda other than what is best for the rest of their fellow citizens.
“President Biden has made strengthening and empowering the federal workforce a top priority from his very first day in office,” OMB Deputy Director Jason Miller told reporters. “He knows that career civil servants are the backbone of our federal government, providing the expertise and experience necessary for our democracy to function.”
“I’ve been to one World’s Fair, a picnic, and a rodeo. and that’s the stupidest thing I ever heard come over a set of earphones.”
This IS rather ironic.
However, users found the AI was unable to create images showing mixed-race couples, despite the fact that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is himself married to an Asian woman.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-13271111/Meta-AI-RACIST-asian-couple-Zuckerberg.html
To be fair, getting an AI to generate a picture of two people where both appear to be Human is difficult.
“You have six fingers on your right hand. I know someone that is looking for you.”
“Funny that you focus on that feature – most mention the two left arms and the serpentine neck first.”
“Inconceivable!”
“You keep using that LLM — I do not think it trains what you think it trains…”
“Rodents of Unusual Size? I don’t believe they exist – we put that in the Negative Prompt.”
LOL wasn’t it Google AI that refused to draw any whiteys at all?
Google’s AI doesn’t remember that being a problem at all, it told me that it can’t generate images.
“Be honest, Gemini.”
“I’m afraid I can’t do that.”
Gemini is two faced. Duh.
The AI has gone from Black Hebrew Israelite to Dixiecrat?
During his presidency, Trump repeatedly railed against a “deep state” of government actors opposed to his agenda, and his desire to root out those perceived threats raised concerns about politicizing the federal workforce and devaluing professional expertise.
The workforce is currently 100% apolitical. We merely wish to keep it so.

It is somehow or other still surprising to me to see the people who claim there is no Deep State, and government is devoutly apolitical, openly doing everything possible to hamstring a new administration in the event of the voters’ rejection of Democratic policies.
And claim that it’s being done in order to “save democracy.”
Further proof we’re living in a simulation
In one of the largest cash heists in Los Angeles history, thieves made off with as much as $30 million in an Easter Sunday burglary at a San Fernando Valley money storage facility, an L.A. police official revealed Wednesday.
The burglary occurred Sunday night at an unnamed facility in Sylmar where cash from businesses across the region is handled and stored, according to L.A. Police Department Cmdr. Elaine Morales.
The burglars were able to breach the building as well as the safe where the money was stored, Morales said. Law enforcement sources said the break-in was among the largest burglaries in city history when it comes to cash, and the total surpassed any armored-car heist in the city as well.
Mystery surrounds the break-in.
Sources familiar with the investigation said a burglary crew broke through the roof of the facility to gain access to the vault. But it is unclear how they avoided the alarm system.
In addition, viewing the safe from the outside, it showed no signs of a break-in. The operators of the business, whom police did not identify, did not discover the massive theft until they opened the vault on Monday.
It was a plucky gang of misfit geniuses.
And then they bought a loaf of bread.
To borrow a great line from Ted Lasso: “I stole a loaf of meth”.
Off duty FBI?
Ocean’s… how many are we up to now?
I was thinking a remake of Heat.
It’s easy when you start with 11.
No monitored security?
Their brains are broken in some fashion. Like the way Orwell described how such people can easily hold two completely contradictory views in their head at the same time and switch between them as needed.
It’s that pathology plus so many, many more that animates the left.
oops, reply to “it is somehow or other still surprising to me to see the people who claim there is no Deep State, and government is devoutly apolitical,”
“Why would a school district toss its gifted students program into the woodchipper? Because roughly 70% of the students are white, and many are Asian.
“Numbers would suggest that within our city, predominantly white children are more gifted than other cultures and races, and we know that is absolutely not true,” Kari Hanson, Seattle’s school district director of student support service, stated to Parent Map.”

The problem is sorting kids by race in the first place. Which has nothing to do with “Marxism”.
That is the joke, the Frankfurt School gutting and skinsuiting Marxism and still you can’t get people off of obsessing about Marx. Might as well point and yell “squirrel”.
“Frankfurters” doesn’t roll off the tongue in derision.
And people keep posting clips if Tim Curry in a Merry Widow.
Sure it does, if you accept race as a proxy for socioeconomic class (and that’s exactly what is happening).
Yeah, that’s kind of what it’s turned into in the US, in the absence of “class”. They had to go with something to smash the system so why not “race”.
Novel concept: Sanctuary cities for gifted people.
oops, reply to “it is somehow or other still surprising to me to see the people who claim there is no Deep State, and government is devoutly apolitical,”
In that particular case, I’m going with “complete unabashed duplicitous cynicism” as opposed to cognitive dissonance. They know exactly what they are doing, and they really don’t care that we do, as well.
“President Biden’s Department of State has named Zakiya Carr Johnson as the department’s next Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer (CDIO). According to the State Department, Carr Johnson will take the helm of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) within the Department.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized the importance of Carr Johnson’s role in advancing DEIA within the agency.
“American diplomacy can only succeed if it fully harnesses all of the talent that our nation has to offer. That is why I created the position of CDIO to elevate DEIA within our organization and give it the dedicated senior-level attention that it deserves,” said Blinken in a statement.”

What? No Belonging? Don’t you try to redefine DEIB!
So all State Department employees are going to be replaced with mirrors? I’m ok with this.
“Led by lesbian pop music duo Tegan and Sara Quin last week, more than 400 Canadian musicians and artists signed an open letter denouncing “anti-trans legislation in Canada.” Signees included Alanis Morissette, Neil Young, Sarah McLachlan, k.d. lang, and Elliot (formerly Ellen) Page. The duo credits transgender identified male, Fae Johnstone—known best for harassing and vilifying women who don’t share his political views—for helping to write their statement….
In their letter, the Quin sisters call out Alberta premier Danielle Smith, who recently tabled legislation that seeks to place evidence-based limits on the medical transition of children, as well as changes in the provinces of New Brunswick and Saskatchewan that do not allow public schools to socially transition minors without parental knowledge or consent….
As for the hundreds of other musicians and artists who signed the Quins’ letter, it’s possible—surely due, in large part, to the Canadian mainstream media blackout on the gender affirming care scandal for minors—that many of these people simply have no idea what they’re signing off on. The open letter aligns with the tone (rabid, unhinged) that media has used when reporting on premier Smith et al. Perhaps they just don’t know any better.”

LEAVE THE KIDS ALONE!!
I didn’t give.a shit one way or the other. Then they started rubbing our noses in it. I got pissed about that. Now they are molesting, torturing and mutilating children.
It is time to put a stop to this horror.
