IFLA: The “Time to Roar” Edition of the Horoscope for the Week of July 21

For OMWC

Apparently I don’t live at my house anymore. This will drop when I’m in Epping NH working the Area 7 match.

This week has a higher than usual amount of activity, and a surprising amount of that is actually good signs. The three best planets (Sun, Venus, Jupiter) are all aligning on Sunday and Monday, and also during that time we see a full moon, so that is an excellent time to engage in proper/wholesome activities. This should be a window of opportunity when good deeds go unpunished. The day after that brings the full force of felicity to our feline-signed friends what with Mercury and Venus being fully active in that sign. The day after that though… it could still be an auspicious time to begin new endeavors and/or work domestically, but you’ll need to be cautious. The problem is Saturn retrograde. It’s one of those two-faced transition signs meaning both ending and beginning as well as unexpected consequences. It’s definitely a warning to pay attention to wtf you’re doing and not go on autopilot. You can make the Mercury-Moon-Saturn retrograde interaction work for you, but let to its own devices, it’ll probably work against you. Regardless of how you deal with Wednesday, on Thursday we see a tilting of the luck plane towards Virgo. Leo is still doing boffo for the beginning of its month, though perhaps not quite as well.

Too old for OMWC

Leo: 7 of Coins – Stewardship/practice/investment/etc yields (good) results.

Virgo: 3 of Wands reversed – The end of troubles, suspension or cessation of adversity, toil and disappointment.

Libra: 4 of Swords – Vigilance, retreat, solitude, hermit’s repose, exile, tomb, coffin.

Scorpio: The World reversed – Inertia, fixity, stagnation, permanence..

Sagittarius: 4 of Coins – The surety of possessions, cleaving to that which one has, gift, legacy, inheritance.

Capricorn: Death – Kind of self-explanatory. If you want to feel better, it can be metaphorical death in the sense of transformation.

Aquarius: 5 of Coins reversed – Disorder, chaos, ruin, discord, profligacy.

Pisces: The Magician reversed –  Physician, Magus, mental disease, disgrace, disquiet.

Aries: Ace of Swords – Triumph, the excessive degree in everything, conquest, great force.

Taurus: 2 of Coins reversed – Faking enjoyment, literal sense, handwriting, composition, letters of exchange.

Gemini: Strength reversed – Misuse of power, or a failure of what was supposed to be an easy success.

Cancer: The High Priestess reversed – Passion, moral or physical ardor, conceit, surface knowledge.

For KK

Sorry for no Lily content. It’s been miserably hot/storming/locusts so she’s been wanting to play indoors which gives me no real opportunity to take vids.

Sagittarius: 4 of Coins – The surety of possessions, cleaving to that which one has, gift, legacy, inheritance.

I’m going to be buried with all my possessions, like an Egyptian pharaoh.

    • UnCivilServant

So, your tomb will be looted wwithin months?

    • Suthenboy

      I want a viking funeral.

    • The Other Kevin

I’m sill trying to decide between a large obelisk and a statue of me on a horse.

It just dawned on me, OMWC usually does links Sunday morning but didn’t today. He also alluded to a date last night. Sound like things went either really good or really bad.

    • Spudalicious

It’s just a misunderstanding. I’m sure it will get cleared up soon.

      • ZWAK came for the two-fisted tentacle-fighting, stayed for the crushing existential nihilism.

That’s what I told the cops too.

These have got me out of a few uncomfortable situations…

    • Gdragon

I know that the average Glib is not unintelligent but the fact that you did not write “eluded” made me smile and warmed my heart.

      • UnCivilServant

OMWC failed to evade the calendar event.

      • Gdragon

No, that was just an illusion LOL

      • Gdragon

I also hate seeing “diluted” when the person clearly means “deluded” (and I see that one almost as often as the “eluded” error)

      • juris imprudent

Gdragon, you’re a regular pendant, ya know?

      • R C Dean

Of course, “phase” for “faze” is an almost universal error. Why, I’ve even seen it here!

  3. Rebel Scum

    Disorder, chaos, ruin, discord, profligacy.

I’m not even going to Vegas.

Oh dear, that means you’ll be visited by an agent of the government.

Based on Spud’s post last last night, I’m betting on epic wino hangovers.

  5. Mojeaux the Lazy Yenta

    From dedthred:

@GT, the Splenda is sufficient to retain the pucker of a really tart lemonade.

@Don, no, like other arts, romance is packed with proggies. The transgression is simply being “a feminist” and writing/reading romance, which is a tool of the patriarchy. All sorts of social justice gets woven into romance as penance.

    • Don escaped Texas

All sorts of social justice gets woven into romance

      I’m sure you’re right

      I am not aroused

    • Suthenboy

Arts are that way. The thinking is driven primarily by emotional intuition. That carries over into what should be rational pursuits.

    • Gender Traitor

Have you made it with Splenda? I’m thinking a cup of Splenda would make the lemonade WAY too sweet.

      • Gender Traitor

        🙂👍🍋

      • Mojeaux the Lazy Yenta

I mean, you can always adjust to your taste. You’re not out anything but a cup of lemon juice and a cup of Splenda.

    • LCDR_Fish

Have you tried stevia at all? My folks and I have switched over to that (largely organic) zero calorie sweetener compared to using splenda, sweet&low, etc before. Seems to work pretty well even if I need to use a little more comparatively in some mixes – a bit more inherent flavor too, but doesn’t bug me.

      • Mojeaux the Lazy Yenta

I’ve heard Stevia has a bitter aftertaste, and I’m very sensitive to bitterness, so I haven’t tried it.

      • LCDR_Fish

Never noticed any bitterness or any aftertaste in general. I’d suggest picking up a box of 40 packets for coffee, etc – rather than the larger canister.

You can also look for the “zevia” stevia sugarfree soda at walmart, etc.

  7. Mojeaux the Lazy Yenta

I had reason to look up the inflation calculator of a laptop my husband bought in 2014 that’s still going strong and slowly being rendered obsolete by various vendors of products we use (specifically, Dropbox). He’s on Win7. Yes, yes, he is. (I’m pretty bitter about Western Digital deprecating my sufficient hardware.)

ANYWAY, it came out to almost double the price. 10 years, 100% increase. Shit’s crazy, man.

  8. KK, Plump & Unfiltered

Aries: Ace of Swords – Triumph, the excessive degree in everything, conquest, great force.

    DOOOOOOM

    • CPRM

The official Biden tweeter released it, but the official POTUS account hasn’t mentioned it. Odd way to announce such a thing.

    • The Other Kevin

I haven’t even ventured to guess this because things have been so unpredictable. It will be interesting to see how many people are getting this right. Scott Adams was wrong this time.

      • Urthona

        It her turn, guys.

  9. juris imprudent

NBC News reporting Biden will step aside for re-election and just serve out term.

    • Urthona

Dammit I was just back in the “Biden stays in” side of the bet.

      • UnCivilServant

I can’t say either outcome would have surprised me.

      • Urthona

        Gonna be Romney.

        Sorkin’s letter changed everything.

      • The Other Kevin

It’s going to be an all-out war between Hillary and Kamala. Someone call Dana White and see if we can reserve an octagon.

      • R.J.

        Me too.

    • Shpip

Unsurprisingly, endorsing Vice President Twofer for the big chair.

      • Urthona

Hmmm she was super unpopular so it will be interesting to see what happens.

  10. The Late P Brooks

Too feeble to run, too feeble to serve. I expect them to pass the torch orb and scepter to Kamala, to give her the massive head start of incumbency.

    • Urthona

They’ll keep him for a couple reasons.

      • Gender Traitor

Yeah, I’m out $100 if he finishes his term. 😕

  12. Mojeaux the Lazy Yenta

On the same note as progs in arts, I saw a really fabulous artist on Twitter and I wanted to drop her a couple of bucks because I feel like if a busker makes you stop and watch, he’s earned some money.

Anyway, I went to her website and saw “Donate to Palestine,” and noped right out. All she gets from me is a retweet.

  13. Grosspatzer, Superstar

The next poll should be interesting. “Trump vs. anybody but Trump?” I’ve got plenty of popcorn.

    • Gender Traitor

      ‘patzie!!! 😃

      • Grosspatzer, Superstar

        Still alive and well incoherent.

      • DEG

The avatar and username change are excellent.

      • Grosspatzer, Superstar

Hey, DEG! Right before I retired in March, I got the “superstar” award (not making this up) from my employer, prompting the name/avatar change. Now that I am a layabout supported by Mrs. Patzer and the taxpayers, I probably need to come up with something else.

      • DEG

Patzer, you are living the good life.

Nah, keep the name change in honor of the good life.

    • Urthona

Too bad Trump won’t withdraw as well.

      • Grosspatzer, Superstar

He does have a few kids…

      • juris imprudent

LMAO – now that would be funny. Trump announcing if Joe won’t run, neither will I!

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

      The unnamed candidate always wins.

      • juris imprudent

Has fewer flaws than any other candidate.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Exactly, people are actually optimistic when they visulize the unnamed candidate: they fill in the blank with their ideal choice. As soon as you name someone the wheels start to come off.

  14. Grosspatzer, Superstar

Gemini: Strength reversed – Misuse of power, or a failure of what was supposed to be an easy success.

Trump is a Gemini. Just sayin’.

  15. cavalier973

Will Biden preemptively pardon his family, now?

    • Urthona

Why? Republicans will never do anything even if they win.

      • cavalier973

        Democrats might, though

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

After the recent lawfare I’m not sure that’s still the case. The old rulebook has been burned and the ashes flushed down the toilet.

    • Nephilium

Nope. There is no good version of that song. It was my high school’s fight song. Seriously…

The high school football team (up until my senior year) won 1 game a season (against a team that had the state record for most losses in a row IIRC), so the fact they didn’t quite understand the point of a fight song kind of fit.

  16. PieInTheSky

I once again offer to be emperor of America. I promise to lower taxes and conquer Canada.

    • UnCivilServant

No, you ahve too many silly Euro-ideas.

      • EvilSheldon

We can fix the guns thing with one weekend range trip.

    • Grosspatzer, Superstar

I’m on board with lower taxes, that’s great. On the other hand, conquering Canada will involve a lot of bloodshed. That’s… also great?

    • Chafed

I’ll vote for you if we get to remake Canada in our own image.

  17. DEG

    Stewardship/practice/investment/etc yields (good) results.

    Not sufficiently shitty.

RC Dean, to answer your question about mail in voting/absentee ballots in NH: Generally speaking, no mail-in voting. Absentee ballots to get mailed out and mailed back, but that is it for the mail and ballots in NH.

Absentee balloting in NH was wide open during the Rona Panic. Basically, if you wanted an absentee ballot you got it no questions asked. That’s not true anymore. It’s not as tightly controlled as I’d like it to be, but it is not wide open anymore.

It looks to me if there is a substitute candidate due to death/withdrawal, and you’ve already submitted your absentee ballot, you are shit out of luck.

    • juris imprudent

All those pre-printed Biden ballots, gone, like tears in the rain…

      • Chipping Pioneer

That’s OK. Kamala will just go down to Kinko’s and order a reprint.

      • DEG

        Heh.

On a serious note, it’s too early for general election ballots or either the normal kind or pre-printed kind. The state primary is in September.

      • Fourscore

Ballots will come with a blank stick on, cover Biden, vote your write in choice.

    • Rebel Scum

We will finally be unburdened by what has been in the significance of the passage of time. And basically that’s good.

      • Sensei

Tonight, I stand before you, deeply humbled and profoundly honored to accept the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. This moment, this crossroads in our journey, is not about one person. It’s about the collective, the tapestry of dreams and struggles that weave together our shared story.

We are a nation of seekers, of dreamers, and doers. My mother, an immigrant who came to this country with a vision of a brighter future, taught me that the road is not always straight, the path not always clear. She taught me that our strength lies in the journeys we share, the collective strides we take, and the dreams we nurture together.

Throwing her under the bus Trump Train.

My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.

    Hilldawg must be fuming.

    • Sean

      I’m picturing broken wine glasses.

    • Tundra

Why? Does she automatically head (heheh) the ticket?

Doesn’t Killdawg have just as good of a shot as Seeds Whitmer or Big Mike?

      • Chafed

The only person who can use Biden’s campaign war chest is Kamala.

      • R C Dean

No, the DNC can get it. I’m not sure what paperwork needs to be filed, but I’ve read from multiple reliable sources that it can go to the DNC, which can then use it for whoever the nominee is.

      • Chafed

Can you post a link? My understanding is donations to the campaign belong to the campaign. Since Biden and Harris are the campaign, it can only be used by one of them. I think this is related to FECA’s cap on campaign contributions to a candidate. Wouldn’t bet my license on it, but that’s the way I understand it.

    • Chipping Pioneer

Yes. The whole “he should drop out of the race” narrative after the debate was a limited hangout.

    • ZWAK came for the two-fisted tentacle-fighting, stayed for the crushing existential nihilism.

If they do that, then they are admitting that he hasn’t been functional for a while. And that would get a lot of people riled up against the D’s.

They are trying to have it both ways, or they would have enacted the 25th as soon as the debate ended.

      • Muzzled Woodchipper

More importantly, it means Kamala will be president, and if you think that she has a bad chance now, just wait until she’s in charge for a couple months.

  22. kinnath

I didn’t read the press release from shit for brains.

Did he formally release his delegates? If he didn’t, they are still obligated to vote for him on the first ballot.

  26. The Late P Brooks

    Antiracists, assemble

The Democratic party will be taking a historic gamble if it now turns to Vice President Kamala Harris to become its presidential candidate, betting that a Black woman can overcome racism, sexism and her own missteps as a politician to defeat Republican Donald Trump.
President Joe Biden, 81, announced on Sunday he was ending his campaign for reelection, while staying on as president for the remainder of his term. In a separate post on X, formerly Twitter, he endorsed Harris.

It’s an appeal to the anti-merit voter. Let’s see how it goes.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

And thus the tone of the new race is announced (if she actually gets the nod of course).
“Vote for the black woman or you’re a racist and/or a misogynist.”

“Vote for the black woman or you’re a racist and/or a misogynist.”

  29. Drake

So are Joe’s delegates now committed to Harris? Or are they free to vote for anyone they want in an open convention?

Hoping for the later so the DNC is absolute chaos.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Isn’t it the latter? Delegates are pledged to Biden as a candidate and they don’t automatically fall to her even if that’s what he wants.

    • kinnath

Harris was not on the ballot. Biden was on the ballot. The delegates are committed to vote for Biden on the first ballot unless he releases them.

    • R C Dean

I don’t know if he can transfer title to his delegates to Harris. Given her family’s history of slave-owning, that would probably be a bad look, though.

    • Sean

It’s a jerk move by Biden.

He should have resigned a year ago, and given Harris some time to claim on-the-job experience.

    • hayeksplosives

He did not choose this willingly. His anger over the past week or so at being asked if he’d step down was genuine.

      • cavalier973

I just saw someone post that we needed proof of life for Biden, and I thought it humorous.

I predicted Biden would bow out this weekend. I’m not sure he makes it to November. Kamala is going to pick Whitmer has her running mate. Girls against boys and she’s the only one other than Gavin that has any name recognition. And Gavin can’t run with her.

  50. kinnath

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/saradorn/2024/07/21/biden-drops-out-as-democratic-presidential-candidate/

Democrats plan to hold a virtual roll call to formally select their nominee as soon as Aug. 1 and before Aug. 7, ahead of the party’s Aug. 19 convention. The party initially planned the early roll call to ensure Biden would be on the ballot in Ohio, which previously required nominees to be confirmed 90 days before the election. Ohio has since revised its law, but it doesn’t take effect until Sept. 1, so Democrats have said they will move forward with the early nomination anyway.

    • kinnath

The approximately 4,700 Democratic delegates will choose a new candidate by majority vote. About 4,000 delegates are “pledged” to Biden, but by stepping down, he effectively releases them from their obligation to vote for him. The 700 “unpledged” delegates—also known as superdelegates and can vote for whoever they please—are allowed to vote in a second round if a candidate does not secure the majority votes needed to win in the first round.

It’s not clear to me that it’s that simple. I think he has to public release them.

      • Ownbestenemy

“effectively”? What does the rules of the DNC state?

      • Ownbestenemy

Since Biden left the race, Democrats will have an open convention to select their nominee. The delegates who were previously bound to vote for Biden at the convention are unbound, meaning they are allowed to vote for a candidate of their choosing

From Ballotpedia, which I would trust. How does that sit with moderate voters though? The die-hards, sure…

      • kinnath

        https://ballotpedia.org/Democratic_delegate_rules,_2024

The Democratic and Republican parties do not formally nominate candidates until delegates vote at the party’s national convention. The Democratic National Convention will take place from August 19-22, 2024, and the Republican National Convention took place from July 15-18, 2024.

A party’s presumptive nominee, meaning the candidate who receives an estimated majority of delegates after state nominating events, could be replaced at the convention. Delegates could elect a candidate who they were not initially bound to at the time of their state’s election. Both state law and party rules govern how a delegate must vote at the national convention, including whether a delegate remains bound to a withdrawn candidate and for how many rounds a delegate remains bound to a candidate.[19]

Both parties also have delegates who are not bound to a particular candidate at the convention. The Republican Party has a total of 104 unbound delegates, and the Democratic Party has a total of 739 unbound delegates. Democratic unbound delegates can only vote if a convention proceeds past the first round of voting.

        Clear as mud.

      • rhywun

What does the rules of the DNC state?

The recently inserted OMB Clause allows them to do “whatever the fuck it takes” to beat a certain candidate.

      • kinnath

        https://ballotpedia.org/What_happens_if_Joe_Biden_drops_out_or_is_replaced_as_the_2024_Democratic_Party_presidential_nominee

Democrats will have an open convention. Delegates will participate in rounds of voting until a new candidate receives a majority of convention delegate votes.[8] The Democratic Party’s 2024 Delegate Selection Rules do not provide specific guidance for how delegates should vote if their candidate withdraws. The rules say the following about how a delegate should vote:

“ No delegate at any level of the delegate selection process shall be mandated by law or Party rule to vote contrary to that person’s presidential choice as expressed at the time the delegate is elected.[9] ”
        —Rule 13.I (p. 15)[10]

“ Delegates elected to the national convention pledged to a presidential candidate shall in all good conscience reflect the sentiments of those who elected them.[9] ”
        —Rule 13.J (p. 15)[10]

Fourteen states have laws binding presidential convention delegates to vote according to how they were allocated after the state’s primary, but 12 of those states allow delegates to be released when a candidate withdraws or after a specific number of rounds of voting at the national convention. Another thought re: one of the star wars posts this morning.

We’ve discussed and seen discussions before on how so few writers in tv/movies/etc these days have any actual life experiences to draw from – vice the original Marvel/DC guys serving in WWII or Korea, etc, etc, etc.

I think it was on one of Critical Drinker’s excerpt group video clips I saw a couple days ago where a participant mentioned that the difference with the post-Lucas Star Wars is that….the writers are big star wars fans. Specifically in the context where – originally Lucas was inspired by WWII fighter flicks, samurai films, westerns, Joseph Campbell, etc – but the new writers are just fans of star wars – they don’t have any other life experiences or outside inspirations to bring to the table. That does seem extremely relevant in this context as well as in a lot of other popular media.

    • R.J.

I like this point. I may steal it. I will give you credit if I do.

I predicted she would get the Dem VP nod six months before she did, and I predicted she would take this one over the day after the debate. I have been calling an all female ticket, most likely Whitmer, but maybe they will go elsewhere. She is a far stronger candidate than Biden, despite what the polls say. The media is just now getting started on the greatest tongue bath propaganda effort in history, it will make their treatment of Joe in 2020 look downright impartial in comparison. I still think Trump can pull off the win, and this will be a better win than beating Biden if he does. If it happens it at least may cause some bit of a retreat from the DEI obsession with the Dems and maybe even a curb kicking of the most hardcore progressive.

Senator Joe Manchin says he may register again as a Democrat (he’s currently an independent) to run against Kamala Harris.

    • SDF-7

That might have worked better if he didn’t get epically played by Schumer and company on the “Inflation Reduction Act” (how’s that expedited permitting for non-green energy going there, Joe?). Now the Republican voters think he’s a caving ass and the Dems already thought he wasn’t Commie enough. So I don’t see where he thinks he’d draw support.

    • Gender Traitor

Why do the neurologists push back?

      • Mojeaux the Lazy Yenta

Statins can mess with your head, cognition, decision-making ability, lucidity, stuff like that. They also mess with nerve endings (like, they can cause or exacerbate peripheral neuropathy).

      • Gender Traitor

Thanks! There’s my justification for refusing a statin ‘scrip for my borderline high cholesterol! 😁👍 (Hasn’t happened yet, but now I’m ready!)

      • Mojeaux the Lazy Yenta

Yeah, they’re a high-risk medication for a relatively low-risk (and natural) condition (although they do sometimes rx it for high blood pressure) and I have had them put it in my chart I will not take statins under any circumstances.

And the low info voter who doesn’t know anything about her, yet will decide the winner, will lap her up.

      • R C Dean

I dunno, creech. She is a singularly terrible candidate, and more and more people aren’t lapping up what the DemOp Media serves up.

    • hayeksplosives

I’ve been on X a fair bit this afternoon. Many prominent dem politicians have rushed to endorse Harris, but Obama has made it fairly clear that he thinks the Dem party will find a way to do a new pick at the convention.

Makes me wonder if there is a bit of a civil war brewing, and if some Dema are sick of Obama continuing to run the show behind the scenes.

  77. KSuellington

I think the Obama non endorsement of Kamalamadingdong is not necessarily due to intra-party fighting, but could just be part of the plan. The Dems currently have to make it seem like it’s not just a coronation of the Kackling One, as they pull exactly that. He will fall in line for the convention, but they need a bit of ambiguity now while they line up the delegates to do what they are supposed to do.

    • Brochettaward

I think it’s definitely sign of infighting. They are going to anoint the candidate no matter what. No small folk will have cast a single vote for the Democratic Party’s nominee. And I don’t think the average mouth breathing Dem cares one iota about that.

What makes most sense for the Democratic Party right now is to present a unified front and for everyone to quickly fall-in line behind the chosen candidate. Obama’s failure to do that says a lot.

    • cavalier973

Trump was a Democrat, so it’s not a surprise he gave money to Democrat candidates.

Also, as a businessman, he might’ve had the motive to butter up law enforcement to keep them off his case.

      • hayeksplosives

The defense company I worked for in Minnesota had a PAC, and they often donated equal amounts to two competing candidates in certain districts just so that when all was said and done, they could correctly claim to have donated to the winner.

      Here’s what happened.

Labour got less votes than it typically does, but the votes for the other parties cratered, so Labour picked up a lot of seats in Parlement. Parlement picks the Prime Minister, so they installed their party leader.

The people voted against the hard left policies of the Tories and ended up with a harder left government.

Morning all — what a day (yesterday, which is not today… which we must live as if today were the tomorrow we want, not the yesterday we remember today… every day) to be out with a migraine.

Headache is still there as a dull ache (that’s a metaphor for the country…), but enough lollygagging.

This is interesting (especially with the discussion upthread about him having croaked).

But what doesn’t make sense to me about him croaking/stroking out (NOT THAT WAY, HUNTER!) / etc. is it seems that invoking the 25th would have been easier all around and given Kackles a few months of Official Presidency to run with. So while I don’t think he’s any less a pudding brain, it doesn’t make sense for him to be more incapacitated or dead to me.

    But what do I know?

  81. SDF-7

This is at least interesting in the question of “Why, then?” — if HairGel really is all aboard for the Knee Pads Train (and boy, there are some potential jokes there – I know), why is he cancelling everything for the next few days? I don’t think Harris is going to appreciate the help or anything (if anything, she should want to keep his spotlight stealing / CA reminding butt far afield).

And normally I’d also ask… “So who exactly is minding the state while you’re playing party / national politics?” — but like PPP, every day this ass isn’t actively trying to sabotage California is a better day.

But if the article is right and he’s part of a faction sharpening the long knives for the convention… interesting times indeed.

    Good morning, Sean and SDF.

I’ve been listening to Nuclear War: A Scenario.

    Happy thoughts for this morning:

The sole authority for the US to launch a nuclear attack rests with POTUS.

    Is Biden alive? Incapacitated? Vegetative?

    Who currently is POTUS?

Who would make that decision this morning?

Can the US, right now, even launch a retaliatory strike?

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning, Chip, Sean, SDF, and rhy!

I haven’t had nearly enough coffee to even begin to ponder that nuke shit.

      • Chipping Pioneer

My apologies. I didn’t scroll up enough to see that rhywun was here. Not an intentional snub.

      • rhywun

        Only briefly before insomnia faded.

    • SDF-7

I think he is alive — probably no more vegetative than before. I suspect his staff would step in in his name (without letting lower folks know he’s not really issuing the orders) and worst case, the Chair of the Joint Chiefs would issue the order as if the President did.

After all, the Chair’s taken foreign policy and whether he’d obey lawful orders in his hands before — this is just a small step further towards “We know better than the supposed President!” Cynical… but those are the times we live in.

      • Rat on a train

But only after warning the target.

      • Chipping Pioneer

        You may be right.

But, from a game theoretic perspective, the uncertainty is a problem. If there’s even a small chance that the US is currently unable to retaliate, Kim may decide this is his moment and be all “FILE LOCKETS!!!”

      • SDF-7

Kim may decide this is his moment and be all “FILE LOCKETS!!!”

This whole kerfuffle puts Kennedy in play. I also just don’t see how Kamala has a path forward. Even with a choice VP candidate.

She has no command of anything in terms of policy.

Couple with the fact that she either has not been around Joe so has no idea on his presidency or she was around him and also conned folks on his health.

    • SDF-7

She’ll have the solid 40% of “Water Glass” Jackass voters, I expect — whether there’s enough to get her close to the Margin of Fortification, I suppose we’ll see. From Anonymous Conservative:
”President Biden’s announcement that he was abandoning his reelection bid was just hours old, but Bill and Hillary Clinton wasted no time in giving their full support for Vice President Kamala Harris as his replacement.” Clever. Kamala is Constitutionally ineligible. But she is the only one who can access Biden’s campaign cash. She accesses the cash, transfers it to a dual ticket of her and Hillary, and then has to drop out, and there Hillary is. I wonder if some of this drama is being inserted into the script to draw more attention, and involve more people. Because the great script is useless if nobody is paying attention.
