Trump files FEC complaint over Biden transferring campaign war chest to Kamala Harris

Nice… even if it doesn’t go anywhere (which it likely won’t… they’ll allow the laws to be bent or broken on behalf of the favored Uniparty), it will keep attention on it and undercut the whole “prosecutor vs. felon” narrative more. (Not that people buy that, and not that she should really want to bring up her prosecutorial record…)

Morning, Banjos! Morning, all ya happy reprobates!

Rep. Andy Ogles Introduces Articles Of Impeachment Against Kamala Harris

Meh… this is pretty weak sauce. Yes, the 25th should have been invoked — but when that decision is made shouldn’t be “high crimes and misdemeanors”…. this really just drives home (as if we needed it) that impeachment is a purely political process and continues to cheapen it in the eyes of the public. I’d rather we get back to a clear standard, evidence, etc.

Then again, this posturing won’t go anywhere either.

    • ZWAK came for the two-fisted tentacle-fighting, stayed for the crushing existential nihilism.

Yes, impeachment is a political process, but that is by design. And, as is obvious by Bidens condition, the 25th should be invoked as he cannot remain president, and she knows this. The point is to put as much pressure on her and the Dems, politically, as was put on Nixon, who resigned over something much less drastic.

Everyday we play Wheres Waldo with Biden is one more day that the people in this country get to see the coup that the D’s are in hte middle of. Keep the people focused on this, not from a sense that you want to kick and old man when he is down*, but from the sense that this is bad shit for the country.

*yes, a lot of people do want to this, but that is a line you don’t want to cross.

      • Ownbestenemy

I am not in the camp that Kamala ascending to the presidency through Biden stepping down/dying is good for her campaign. It will complete the appearance it was all a plan to anoint her all along. So they put themselves in a bind here.

Reports are that the heads of the DNP were threatening to 25th Biden if he didn’t step down from the reelection. If that is the case, I can very much agree the articles of impeachment are warranted. No way in hell if that did go down that way, that Kamala was left in the dark given the immediate party switch she enjoyed.

      • juris imprudent

Impeachment shouldn’t be a political process even though it is conducted by a political branch. It is even worse when it is nakedly political, which at least the Nixon and Clinton impeachments had a bigger legal figleaf.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

I agree Juris, it shouldn’t be. It is though and always will be going forward. The process has been weaponized unfortunately and the side that refuses to play that game is at a serious disadvantage. The genie’s out of the bottle on that one.

      • ZWAK came for the two-fisted tentacle-fighting, stayed for the crushing existential nihilism.

No, the impeachment process has to be political</em, as it needs to be removed from the legal/judicial branch. This is why Trump (and by extension all presidents) enjoy immunity, as recently put in writing by the SCOTUS. This is inherently a political action, just one that transcends parties. It shows what the people will and will not accept as legitimate actions, not legal actions.

And yes, what Pelosi tried, and failed, to do was within the realm of the impeachment. And showed that what she wanted was not acceptable to the American people. Nixon resigned over it due to the people turning against him politically. Clinton survived as the people did not turn against him. It cannot be a legal witch hunt, as we see the disgust of the people in the Bragg case, and others as led by the D's in the legal realm.

Presidents should be impeachable for things as various as having a budget for the first lady, sending arms to Israel, talking to former heads of state, or anything else the public doesn’t want a president to do. It doesn’t matter what it is, it is simply the will of the people. That is why it is by it’s vary nature political.

The articles coming out Sunday were doom and gloom. Then sometime, around Monday afternoon, the articles started being glowing towards Harris. To the point that I’ve seen articles saying that having Harris run is a home run move by the DNC. She gets to run on the wonderful Biden record, without needing to shoulder the burden of his old outdated ways.

      • Banjos

The left and media’s narrative is something on the lines of “Biden was winning until the debate and then suddenly Biden’s age became a factor”. When the reality is that Trump has been beating the hell out of Biden for two year now. And age and character had no basis in it at all. When polled, it was overwhelming that people were upset by Biden’s policies and how everything he touched turned to shit. Between immigration, foreign policy, the economy. When polled, that’s what people bring up as their issues. And they were quite upset by the lawfare. The public does not like banana republic shit. The media is very stupidly going to try to link Kamala to Biden’s record. “She’s just like Biden but young (she’s 60) and energetic!” When its the fucking policies that killed Biden not that he’s a corpse. They are delusional in their insistence that everyone loves their policies. If Trump has any sense (and from what I’m seeing, he sees it to) he’ll link Kamala to Biden’s shit policies and record.

      • Ted S.

Second thought is, of course, that Kamala is snubbing an ally (as is the Senate President-Pro-Tempore Jackass). Telegraphing foreign policy if they manage to win — I expect an informal alliance with Iran in 2025 if so. Dearborn will be pleased.

Unlike Ukraine, don’t we have actual treaties with Israel? Hence, an ally.

Personally, I’m fine with that meaning “We’ll let you buy arms and work with you on the F-35” or whatnot, not “We’ll give you money and arms”, yes… but I don’t run the country obviously.

      • Ownbestenemy

I believe we just have bilateral defense agreements and no ratified treaties with Israel in terms of defense.

      • SDF-7

      • Drake

Israel bears some of the blame too. Gaza is basically an open-air prison and Israel moves the walls in occasionally with settlements. Of course that will cause prison riots. Stop it.

Going to have establish a real border everyone agrees on and stick to it. The rest will be kind of like what Ukraine was about to do with the Minsk agreements such as neutrality and security guarantees.

If the Palestinians break it at that point, it’s an act of war between nations, not this police action crap.

      • UnCivilServant

No, the settlemets are all in the West Bank, the Isralis have actually moved away from Gaza.

“Going to have establish a real border everyone agrees on”

I agree. But the Palis are opposed in principle to any border with Israel, so where do you go from there? I also don’t think you can equate the Palis’ border violations with the Israelis. One is trespassing, the other is mass murder, rape, torture, and kidnapping.

      • Nephilium

      • Not Adahn

All of the cease fire plans have had two completely non-negotiable requirements:

        1. HAMAS must remain in power.

        2. HAMAS must get lots of money and help rebuilding everyhting Israel destroyed.

Everything else, like freeing the hostages and/or not killing Jews can be discussed after those two points are accepted.

Israel has been trying to set aside the last 80 years, Palestine keeps bringing it back up.

This only ends in bloodshed. And they have been putting it off for far too long, just making it worse.

      • R C Dean

Zwak, the part of the last 80 years that needs setting aside is Israel itself.

Sorry OT: Going to my Medical Practical Exam in 15min. Instructors say “there’s no chance of anyone not passing” based on her collective notes. One arm dfaw and another one, a butterfly needle prick through hand veins. Our veins are a bit worn from two weeks of constant prickin’, so we’re collectively gonna be a hard bunch. “Even if [we] don’t draw blood,” she still has enough info from our collective course.

*crosses fingers* Tomorrow is the Medical Written Exam, the NHCO ‘national’ exam. The stress of 'getting in' is, as always, the trickiest part. Not entirely sure how to branch out and get more opportunities through them, but I have a few idea in store for today/tomorrow, the last days of scheduled courses. I can ALSO, for free (after paying) come back and do needle-work in the meantime between gigs to stay sharp(er).

    • UnCivilServant

I have never understood the concept of an internship. They never seemed to involve any training in skills that ordinary starter jobs don’t already cover long before you reach the ‘intern’ stage.

      • SDF-7

My impression of them was always that they were a networking opportunity for the intern and effectively a trial job / “see if they fit in” on the company side for someone who isn’t immediately hireable for the company (due to being still in school/training). Yes, if the person is hireable an actual starter job fits just as well.

        Good luck, Evan.

      • UnCivilServant

I despise networking. Why should extroverts gain an unfair advantage over normal people?

Because extroverts gravitate towards sales for obvious reasons, and networking to some extent is selling yourself.

It isn’t always a matter of extrovert/introvert (though you have to at least try to be sociable) — just knowing the org structure of a company / who’s working on what can help with backdoor connections. That’s the sort of thing an internship can help with (“Oh, you’re working on the same thing as Joe Bob… you should drop him your resume when you graduate, we’ll keep you in mind!” kind of stuff).

Tell us how you *really* feel…

Like the majority of American voters, I am a “double hater”, and it’s telling about this election that the tag months ago became a set expression. As I’ve been engaged for over a year in an exhausting internal battle over which presumptive major-party presidential candidate I revile the more, maybe you’d expect that the withdrawal of at least one of these bêtes noirs would make me happy. It doesn’t.

If Kamala Harris takes Biden’s place at the top of the ticket, I’m still a double hater, and I’m still agonised over which presidential candidate I revile the more. She’s an intellectual lightweight — and I’m being polite. She cannot think on her feet. I’ve never heard her say anything original or observant; at her best, she simply recites the party line. At her worst, she’s too lazy to memorise the party line, for she has a history of not bothering to do her homework before official appearances. Much like Jill Biden, she often resorts to the persona of a kindergarten teacher. She comes across as a fake, and most voters — most people, even children — are keenly attuned to artifice. (Trump is an asshole, but at least he’s genuinely an asshole.) She has a reputation as personally unpleasant, helping to explain why she’s run through staff like disposable cutlery.

    Excellent rant.

This is one good thing about living in California — with an entirely clear conscience, I could just write in Tim Sandefur again because it would mean just as much in that state. I probably won’t because I do agree with a good chunk of his policies (and maybe if enough folks do even in the Blue states and he wins we won’t be subjected to ‘Popular Vote!’ BS) even if I dislike his personality and know he may fail to do what he needs to… but I certainly could.

On a related note — I thought this was interesting.

    1) She very much does reflect the California style of governance (Sit down, shut up and take it you non-elites!)… I think that only works in California because it has devolved into a one party state, though. But the ditching of the working class is implicitly complete as the column states.

    2) The more I read stuff like this and am reminded of her 2020 agenda when she ran before dropping out — I have to wonder how much input she had into things (instead of Obama / his flunkies really running the show). Because a lot of the crap they’ve done (and trying to pull in the Labor Sec from CA, etc.) is very much in line with her positions and Californicating the country, which would fit. Doesn’t hugely matter (in that I think they should be able to argue she’s got to own that record either way), but it does make one wonder…

Great news, there is no crime in NY!

“New York Attorney General Letitia James said her “singular focus” is helping Vice President Kamala Harris beat Donald Trump in the election — just months after she successfully prosecuted the former president with a controversial $454 million civil fraud judgment.

James, who has long denied having a personal vendetta against Trump, slammed the Republican presidential candidate as an “existential threat” as she offered up a glowing endorsement for Harris during an appearance on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” late Tuesday.

“I’m focused at this point in time on securing the nomination for Vice President Harris, and then ultimately getting her elected,” the AG told host Joy Reid after President Biden dropped his 2024 re-election campaign.”

“The left-wing Black Lives Matter (BLM) organization on Tuesday evening lashed out at the Democratic Party, claiming they were a party of “hypocrites” for “installing” Vice President Kamala Harris as the president’s successor in the party without a vote…

“We do not live in a dictatorship. Delegates are not oligarchs. Installing Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee and an unknown vice president without any public voting process would make the modern Democratic Party a party of hypocrites,” the group said in a statement, according to Fox News. “Black Lives Matter demands that the [DNC] immediately host an informal, virtual snap primary across the country prior to the DNC convention in August.”

The group called the move to anoint Harris as Biden’s successor a “blatant disregard for democratic principles” and claimed Biden’s move to withdraw from the race warranted “decisive action” to protect democracy and “the voice of Black voters.”

And now a word from the Bureau of Made-Up Statistics

The EU’s Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) said Wednesday that the global average surface temperature climbed to 17.15 degrees Celsius (62.87 degrees Fahrenheit) on Monday — eclipsing the previous record of 17.09 degrees Celsius, which had been set Sunday.

C3S, which has been tracking the daily global mean temperature since 1940, said Sunday’s record had already shown “we are now in truly uncharted territory.”

The EU’s climate monitor has warned that new temperature records are inevitable as the planet keeps warming.

Scientists have repeatedly called for urgent and rapid reductions in greenhouse gas emissions to stop global average temperatures rising.

  27. KSuellington

Oh man the Kamala hagiography by the elite media has just begun and it is already nauseating. I think they are gonna stick with the “tough prosecutor” role for her. That turns off the hard lefties a bit, but what are they gonna do, stay home and let Trumpenfuhrer win? There are way more normies and edge independents out there that can be persuaded through 3 plus months of propaganda that she is the Tough Woman we need right now. They can’t quite run a Biden Basement campaign like last time, but it will be a variation on that, where she is out and about, but always in tightly controlled situations, all interviews will be completely staged with pre vetted questions, etc. She has gotten her polling bounce already, but I think that will settle back down in a couple weeks.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

If her word salad past flubs are truly indicative of her abilities they’re screwed, if not they’ll have a chance to win (legitimately). We’ll see I reckon.

      • KSuellington

I think the opportunities for those word salads to come out will be severely curtailed. She already has a dozen people managing every utterance out of her mouth and a highly compliant media that desperately wants her to win and already is well aware of her severe shortcomings.

      • Ownbestenemy

Only problem with that is it will be easily seen as more the same. Biden was highly curtailed, dozens of staffers blocking press from access, etc. They will have to do it differently to shake the optics.

      • Ownbestenemy

zwak – might be the same trap they pulled on Biden too; though now they would be in ‘its over’ territory if that is the case. Trump would just need to bring up how he absolutely loves Venn diagrams or that Ukraine is a country.

    • R.J.

Nice. I originally thought it was legit to pass the money over, since they were running as a team. Apparently that can’t be done cleanly unless they are already the candidates. They are just the presumptive candidates. So there are rules to her getting the money Biden raised (because it was raised for him, not her.) and becoming the presidential candidate.

      • Aloysious

Yeah, my understanding of the process isn’t all that clear.

That being said, I want the entire DNC convention/nomination process to descend into a chaotic scrum of howler monkeys throwing feces everywhere. I look forward to the Democrats I know explaining to me how I’m not seeing what I’m seeing.

In the older clip, which recently resurfaced, Vance pointed to prominent figures in the Democratic Party — including Buttigieg, Vice President Harris and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) — saying that “the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children.”

“And how does it make any sense that we’ve turned our country over to people who don’t really have a direct stake in it?” Vance said in the clip.

Harris has two stepchildren, Cole and Ella Emhoff, by way of her husband, first gentleman Doug Emhoff.

“And it’s not about his kids, or my kids, or the vice president’s family,” Buttigieg said Tuesday. “It’s about your family, people’s families whose well-being will depend on whether we go into a future led by somebody like Kamala Harris who is focused on expanding the prosperity, the freedom, the well-being of our families.”

He added, “Or, do you want your children to grow up in a country defined by a return to the chaos and recrimination and cruelty that was the hallmark of the Trump era?”

Yeah, life was nothing but death and destruction, back in the Dark Age of 2018. It’s a wonder anyone survived to nurture those few flickering embers of civilization which prevailed. Would you like another pillow for your fainting couch, Ma’am?

After Hurricane Ida struck in 2022, the city of New Orleans went dark. The electric grid failed, spurring calls for more energy independence through measures like rooftop solar.

On Monday, the Environmental Protection Agency awarded the city nearly $50 million to help pay for installing solar on low to middle income homes as part of a program to cut the country’s climate pollution. The project gives the city a way to adapt as a changing climate yields stronger hurricanes while also emitting fewer emissions that cause the planet to warm. The city also plans to green up underserved areas with trees and build out its lackluster bike lane system to provide an alternative to cars.

New Orleans’ Deputy Chief Resilience Officer Greg Nichols called the federal funding “historic.”

“[This,] the City’s largest ever investment in climate action, is a testament to our collaborative efforts and unwavering dedication to addressing climate change,” he said.

“What this proves is what the president has been very clear about, which is, in the United States, when we come together, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish,” said White House Climate Advisor Ali Zaidi. “There are no tons [of greenhouse gas emissions] too tough to abate. No pollution we have to settle for.”

According to the EPA, the projects will reduce the country’s planet-warming emissions by almost 1 billion metric tons by 2050 — the equivalent of removing the average yearly energy use needed for 5 million homes over 25 years.

The important thing to remember is “Vote for Joe Kamala.”

I’m sure rooftop solar will come through a hurricane just fine.

And I’m just certain that “free” solar panels and copper wiring will survive just fine in low income neighborhoods.

Interesting if true. It certainly plays to my biases.

Capacitive controls could be the cause of a spate of VW ID.4 crashes

But the left side spoke operates the adaptive cruise control system, and mistakenly brushing against the “resume” button could re-engage cruise control to whatever speed it was last set, causing the car to accelerate when the driver didn’t actually want that to happen. And that’s exactly what a number of owners—one of whom reached out to us—suspect is to blame for a spate of crashes affecting the VW ID.4.

Many of the incidents occurred when drivers were parking, so most of the crashes happened at relatively low speeds, but three of the 13 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration crash reports that Ars reviewed involved injuries to the occupant(s).

What was wrong with mechanical switches?

      • Tundra

The bean counters love them, too—it takes less time to install the subassemblies, and that means a little more profit per car.

It’s always regulatory and/or beancounters. They never consult actual drivers.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Nontactile controls in a car are stupid no matter what the reason.

        It’s always regulatory and/or beancounters

        ::Evil Grin::

So what if we regulate awat capacitive controls in favor of tactile controls ‘for safety’

      • Sensei

        Yes. Very aircraft.

I’d be worried about warranty however. One of my YouTube auto channels had an independent BMW shop servicing the AC of a brand new car. The reason it wasn’t working was because they never filled it with refrigerant.

        That’s some quality control!

That’s by far the best Gizmodo article I have ever read.
