Peanuts Christmas

by | Dec 24, 2024 | Art, Comic | 95 comments

I am just about finished and just in time. I began cutting out characters a few months back and it’s been great fun. I did all the the drawing and layout freehand with pencil and a lot of erasers, then finished in black markers, pretty fun to do.

I use MDF boards and a jig saw to cut them out. Then I ink them, painting is done by my partners, then touch up. Let’s take a look

Love it, Yusef!! You’re a talented artiste

  2. Aloysious

Thank you. This is so cool. I love Peanuts. Schulz was the man.

A small detail that most people miss: Linus spends the whole episode clutching his security blanket. Yet when he gets to the angel telling the shepherds “Fear not,” he tosses the blanket aside.

      • Chafed

He was moved by the Spirit.

  3. hayeksplosives

    Very nice work!

And a throwback to more wholesome times.

I watched Linus reading Luke tonight.

Remember the year that CBS cut that part out? A disgrace.

      Merry Christmas, HE.

      I hope you are well.

    • rhywun

I was wondering if they even have the temerity to show this anymore.

I’m not a good Catholic anymore (though I hope to find the PIX11 midnight mass – it will have to online if at all since I don’t live in NYC now) but even I know what Xmas is supposed to be about.

Those are fun decorations and they turned out great! Well done.

    HEY YUFUS!

Excellent work. Needs some actual snow tho’.

Fuck that, it’s cold here already, 55 degrees
People are wearing beanies and gloves, pansies

        *brr*

It reached a balmy 32 here today. After some days of single digits.

  6. rhywun

    Big smiles.

    Happy to see PigPen!

I didn’t recognize Lucy with out a football. Good work, Yusef, I’d drive by and get some pictures if I could.

Animation over Hollywood, both much fun though

Huh, Zerohedge is blocking my VPN. Other than Pornhub, ZH is at the top of my list for required VPN usage.

      • dbleagle

        It let my VPN through.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

I changed locations and it worked. Guess that specific one was flagged for some reason.

Good ZH is a cesspool of antisemitism, or just Jew haters, fuck them,
Jesus with a .50 cal, that’s my God

    • dbleagle

Wow. That explains multiple things I saw and experienced there.

    • Fourscore

Thanks Moj, I read the whole thing as well and the China-Darien Gap article.

It’s a tough cold world out there. Europe is reeling from the same problems with the immigrants as the US. Cultures are not all the same.

    • rhywun

Huh. Will read shortly. Weirdly, I’m deep into a book chock full of Hindu references so this might be informative.

Tonight I’m busy with Season two of Deutschland 83 86 – sadly I forgot from my one and only previous viewing that my Bluray is German and this time there’s no English subtitles so it requires my full attention.

    • Brochettaward

I’d visit China and just about any place. Never had the slightest interest in Inddia. It’s a dirty, effeminate society with awful food.

I’m reading the entire article, and I have to admit – I didn’t know it was quite that bad. But it’s one guy’s perspective. Indians tend to be rather high achieving immigrants in Western countries, but there’s a process of self-selection taking place, I’m sure.

      • Brochettaward

But if this guy is really making a living advising companies looking to invest in India, he has balls posting on Zero Hedge.

      • rhywun

It’s a dirty, effeminate society with awful food.

        OK then 🙄
The dirty I believe; the “effeminate” I have not seen any evidence for; and you’re completely off on the food.

I visited China in 2001 – I would not recommend it to anybody in its current state.

      • Tres Cool

        Effeminate?
Do you know who the Gurkha are?

      • Brochettaward

When I say effeminate, I’m saying most of the men are soft and weak individuals. Which isn’t far off from what the author of this article is saying. It’s a perverted form of what the West calls masculinity. It’s a male dominated society where women have few rights, sure. But that’s true of just about every third world hellhole.

I’d say the same about much of the Middle East. The men for the most part aren’t men. There’s exceptions, differences by region. Afghans are made of tougher stuff than Iraqis, but they still have same perverted form of masculinity.

So maybe I shouldn’t use the word effeminate as it can be misconstrued, but it’s how Westerners have generally viewed Eastern men. Petty, servile, and fundamentally weak.

      • Brochettaward

Do you know who the Gurkha are?

India is a subcontinent of 1.7 billion people. There’s regional differences. I wouldn’t call Sikhs “soft,” either. But they are not the average Indian.

      • LCDR_Fish

        Gurkhas are Nepalese.

    • rhywun

The many Indians I work with must be highly self-selecting because I see *zero* evidence in their character of anything the author describes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • Q Continuum

This tracks with my experience visiting India as well as discussions with white collar, high-caste Indians. I think it’s a symptom of several things: entrenched caste attitudes dating back centuries, massive overpopulation and poverty making surviving extremely difficult and life cheap, typical low-trust society bullshit causing a self-perpetuating state of suspicion and selfishness.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Interesting article but it’s one guy’s perspective and this particular author is definitely one of the Indians with a fondness for the British colonial days. From what I’ve seen of the Indians I’ve worked with they’re just people, some good and some bad; some kind and conscientious and others are pure assholes. That being said, in an overpopulated nation with devestating poverty and the very real possibility of starving on the street if things don’t go well it’s no surprise that they’re ruthless about looking out for themselves.

My Oklahoma baby cat is huge! 8 months old and she is larger than most cats already, a Grey and yellow striped tabby, love cats!

The post woman dropped off other peoples mail at my house today.

The addresses aren’t even close. Who knows what is going on.

      • UnCivilServant

Clearly, the USPS is underfunded and needs more money!

JD Vance was wrong about the post office.

      • Shpip

A package that I’ve been expecting made its way from Ohio to Jacksonville, then to my hometown main post office at 6:39 AM yesterday. USPS tracking had it scheduled for delivery to my house by 9:30 PM.

As of today, the package is departing my town for parts unknown. Your government at work.

      • Chafed

I believe it’s my quasi-governmental agency at work.

Our (early and only) Christmas was a fun, quite swift family affair. Nothing of consequence was discussed, as it should be. My only non-joke gift was direly needed: A new fob for my ’13 Chevy Malibu. The damn cover for the unlock button came off, and the same thing with my backup. I rigged a zipper onto the rings so I could use it to MacGuyver poke the button. An eraser or a well-placed pen also worked… If I used the actual key to open the door, the fucking alarm would go off until I started the car. I wanna sit that fucker down and ask him how *that* could possibly be considered a *good* idea.

I hope everyone’s Eve has gone well. Weirdly freeing not having anything planned for tomorrow.

    • Gender Traitor

      Merry Christmas, U and GL!

Merry Christmas UCS. I hope Santa brings you every variety of gloves.

      • UnCivilServant

May you have a peaceful and generous day.

      • Evan from Evansville

I hope he has Present-Opening Gloves. The first gift of the year is unwrapped with last year’s pair, revealing a new set, fresh for the season’s haul. That would be a lovely tradition.

Merry Christmas, to one and all, regardless of (possibly) fictitious gloves.

    • Gender Traitor

My cats say Merry Christmas to you, too (as do I!)

      • Ted S.

The cats may be self-cleaning, but the kitchen isn’t.

I got myself a socket set (basic, basic set, but I didn’t have any).

I got the change to use it today when repairing some old lamps. There was a nut on the conduit end that was maybe 1/16th of an inch tall. So I was excited to get to try out the sockets.

Turns out the nut wasn’t all that tight, It was just too narrow to get a grip on. I got maybe a quarter turn before I was able to spin it off by hand (faster than a ratchet).

I’m not sure if I’m vindicated or disappointed.

    • Evan from Evansville

      Push for vindicated.

    • UnCivilServant

      🤬

I am being defeated by a stupid plastic ring.

I need to replace the switch on this lamp. Problem is it’s inside a metal tube, with ine end plugged by a welded on metal cap, and the other by a plastic ring. The ring is set in behind a welded in thread ring to attach the tube to the next segment of the lamp. Because the ring is wider than the threaded ring, almost as tall, and in at a depth equal to the width of the tube, it’s not coming out. I’m at the point of “just destroy the thing and remove it in pieces” but I can’t get anything in there that can do damage in the way I need. (The other damage hasn’t helped dismantle it)

      • UnCivilServant

I made a franken lamp out of parts from two lamps and a socket from the hardware store. It’s electrically sound, the switch works, and it lights up. I still want to change the switch behind the plastic ring, because that would allow me to use the better looking fixture, but I have to think on how to approach the problem as it stands.

Add some detail pictures for review and assistance

      • R.J.

Also, Merry Christmas to all you filthy animals and broken toys!
        And nice work Yusef!

  10. Gender Traitor

Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night! 🙂🥱😴

  11. LCDR_Fish

Buon Natale from Naples. Doesn’t look like it’ll get below freezing here….even though I can see the snow in the mountains.

  12. rhywun

Holy cow. BBC America is showing Tennant Who. It IS a merry Christmas.

I thought Amazon or somebody else owned that stuff now. Heaven knows BBC hasn’t shown it in many years.

    • R.J.

Nice. Now they need to unlock the vault to “Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin.”

      • rhywun

Did PBS show that? The name sounds familiar but I have no other memory of it.

      • R.J.

Yes! PBS showed it. I have the book it was based on too. It’s a fantastic series about a man who faked his death because his corporate job sucked, and then started over. You can still find the book on eBay. Sometimes the DVD set.

    • Ted S.

I’m surprised they show anything Britis any more.

      • rhywun

        It’s another Festivus miracle!

    • Sean

      Thanks for the heads up!

    • Gender Traitor

Good morning and Merry Christmas, Sean, Stinky, rhy, Ted’S., and R.J., and good afternoon, Fishy!

    • R C Dean

Stinky, your avatar reminded me that a few days ago I saw a little bit of Home Alone at the cantina while waiting for take-out, and I couldn’t get past the glossy pink lipstick they put on McCauley Culkin.
