I’m going to take you all to a very special place.
BREAKING — FEDERAL COURT BLOCKS BIDEN TITLE IX REWRITE: Notice the difference in coverage from The Daily Signal vs that from The Associated Press. No, AP, this wasn’t about LGB students at all, it was only about other parts of the QUILTBAG++
HUNTER BIDEN’S CALIFORNIA HOME BURNED IN CALIFORNIA WILDFIRES: Faint hope that Hunter Biden’s $4 million rental home was still standing after the California wildfires has been dashed, as pictures show it razed to the ground. All that priceless artwork. All that potential evidence.
LIMEYLAND STATE MEDIA WHINGES ABOUT MUSK’S ‘RAPE GANG’ REMARKS: Over at Red State, Streiff zooms in on the nuance — On the one hand, I don’t take the harrumphing on BBC all that seriously. It is best understood as a way for Starmer to complain without having to further demean himself by begging Trump to make Musk stop being mean to him. What is good social media fun in the US is moving toward a political crisis in the UK, which is something Trump may or may not want.
ALL OF THIS CAN BE FOUND AT EWE ARE ELL: LA Mayor Karen Bass actually said that during a Wednesday afternoon presser. Now, nobody expects a mayor to be able to tell us what those letters actually mean, or any of the technical arcana about the aitch tee-tee pee colon slash-slash. But in 2024 you expect a big city mayor to at least know that URL is how the nerds refer to those website address thingies. You expect people giving this type of info to know that you need to give your audience the website address thingy explicitly. Her comms ppl probably bear some responsibility, too, but this smacks of not knowing how your boss needs extra help with certain things, and being prepared with a visual of the URL, etc.
MODERNITY PROBLEMS: Robo-taxi crashes into a delivery robot.
THAT WILL FIX IT: Residents of Belcastro in the southern region of Calabria have been “ordered to avoid contracting any illness that requires medical assistance, especially an emergency,” a decree from Mayor Antonio Torchia stated.
JOURNALISMING FAIL: Hundreds of incarcerated firefighters are helping battle the destructive blazes that are rapidly spreading across southern California as a powerful windstorm devastates the region. Technically correct, sorta, but hugely misleading. These people were not necessarily firefighters before their incarceration, but, rather, trained in firefighting while serving their sentences. Participants must have eight years or less on their sentence, and some convictions, including sex offenses and arson, are disqualifying. These are among the types of inmates that then-AG Kamala Harris sought to keep incarcerated for cheap labor.
OH, YES THEY ARE: Canuckistani Finance Minister says Trump’s comments about annexing Canada aren’t funny anymore. Look, Dominic, the more you let him know he’s bothering you, the more he’s gonna do it. Lighten the fuck up, eh?
DISPATCH FROM MARE VAPORUM: Space dot com, totally not reading their room, republished this dreadful piece in which the author drops this piece of commie clap-trap: When it comes to resource extraction, some argue this means all nations should share in the bounty of any future lunar mining endeavor. Note the slippery “some argue” construct. Then there’s this argle-bargle: Managing lunar dust will be a crucial factor in ensuring sustainable and minimally disruptive mining practices. Sure, dust management is going to be a problem, but the author uses that as a smokescreen to smuggle in those minimally disruptive mining practices. Disruptive to who, or what, exactly?
ROCKET LAB ASKS NASA TO OPEN UP MSR TO COMMERCIAL COMPETITION: MSR is, of course, NASA’s long-troubled Mars Sample Return mission which I’ve covered at length. Up-and-coming launch company Rocket Lab wants to give private companies a shot at designing the mission. Anything to keep the ESA the fuck out of the process; they are the single biggest reason the mission is in disarray.
GOODYEAR OFFERING CONTEST FOR FREE BLIMP RIDES TO CELEBRATE 100TH ANNIVERSARY: Story here.
Ah! So HB set the fire to hide the evidence?
Cracky died for a good cause.
Is that the same luxury rental where he has stiffed the landlord on the rent?
I’m sure there are squatter-friendly policies there.
I was wondering the same. Guess that’s one way to get rid of a squatter with a Secret Service detail.
Looks like the last landlord he was stiffing was for a place in Venice Beach
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/12/absolute-sht-bag-venice-beach-landlord-claims-hunter/
“where he has stiffed the landlord”
Are we not doing phrasing anymore?
Oh, now we’re doing ‘phrasing’?!
We’re jumping into it…. you know — para-phrasing.
Are we not doing phrasing anymore?
Doesn’t the jockstrap more imply stiffee than stiffer?
Also, the crack.
Pro tip, boys (not really for the girls) – long-term cocaine abuse will make you functionally impotent.
What! Now you tell us.
Of course, it all comes back to Hunter!
When he touches you like this… when he holds Cracky like that — Joe forgives and forgets, but its all coming back to him now…
So…what are the chances Hunter ever pays the back rent on his former residence? Last I heard it was upwards of 300k. What a deadbeat.
The only worse video of Bass is the one from Africa where she stays absolutely silent as the Euro reporter keeps asking her if she has anything to say to her constituents.
What you see here is the crux of Progressivism. All their politicians are dimwits who are trying to cosplay being a leader while having absolutely no clue on how to lead or serve. We see this with Trudeau in Canada, or with Mayors Johnson and Bass of Chicago and LA respectively. They are filled with ideas that doesn’t work in the real world and when they fail are incapable of introspection and accountability.
You’re too kind, Ed.
I’m reminded of one of RC’s iron laws: consequences that are foreseeable are not unintended.
Maybe I’m being too mean or cynical but as a Chicagoan I find the CTU and their mayoral stooge to be even more cynical.
“trying to cosplay”
I think you’ve hit on it. They think being a leader is ACTING like a leader, not actually BEING a leader. To them all the world’s a stage, and the audience (us) are supposed to believe that what they claim to be is what they are, and are disappointed in us when we boo at their terrible portrayals.
That she cannot even tie together a steam of BS is highly indicative of just how sad she is as a politician. I mean, that is job one in politics, and if you cannot even do that…
Faint hope that Hunter Biden’s $4 million rental home was still standing after the California wildfires has been dashed, as pictures show it razed to the ground. The first son, 54, shared the Malibu pad with wife Melissa Cohen, renting it for $15,800 a month, according to DailyMail.com, which acquired pictures of the property totally flattened by the blaze that has claimed five lives in L.A. County.
I look forward to the conspiracy theories.

The Bass thing is just baffling in its stupidity. That’s what she said; “this can be found at URL”. That’s it. No website, nothing. Just URL. I’m sure that’s the way it was written in the remarks she was woodenly reading.
I’m guessing they printed out a sheet with an embedded text link. Go to the following URL.
Yep, something like this:
Which, while dumb, could be chalked up to ignorance. The person who was the speechwriter on the other hand…
It would have been on brand if she were to start poking at the paper to click the link.
LOL
🤣😂
She was even reading a script about how she tried to high-tail it back from Ghana. If one has to read their own ordeal from hours ago, one is totally insincere.
Goddammit
Go to the following URL. I fucking ruined it.
Reply threading fail. Link fail. I’ll just go away now.
I don’t recall ever seeing “URL” used as the text for an embedded link.
I have. Because our comms people are just as technically illiterate as the politicians they serve.
I see it quite frequently, albeit usually with the full (actual) URL listed in a parenthetical or after a colon.
That’s because you work(ed) in industry, RC.
Was Hunter forced to flee in only underwear and a scarf?
Ahem. Sir, that’s a classy jockstrap.
Honestly, round these parts — I assumed it was this sort of special place. Not the roller rink growing up (did they all play this at least once a session or was it just the ones I went to as a pre-teen?)
Expanding “protections”.

Oh, shit. I forgot it was a National Day of Mourning. I should have said something above. Oh, well…
It’s a national day of no fucks to give.

I’m really impressed Glibs.com got an exclusive photo of Hunter’s house going up to use as the cover image.
I thought that was the LA City Council building.
Hey assholes — the phrase “The future belongs to those who show up” applies in more than one way. How precisely do you think the lazy ass do-nothing governments on Earth are going to do Jack over Shit once a Lunar mining operation gets up and running and gets self sustaining? Even before they’re fully self sustaining (if you think you can throttle supplements or something) — they will have the High Ground ™. Harsh Mistress and all.
I swear these yammering columnists just don’t think.
I have the high ground!
lazy assed do nothing governments tend to get rather animated when someone does anything at all without said government getting their cut. That is their reason for existence, getting a piece of every pie no matter how big or small.
Given the Cracker Jack performance of SoCal govt during these fires the taxpayers got their tax money back in spades, well worth those small taxes and all.
“Robo-taxi crashes into a delivery robot.”
I was saving this for my article on AI but here it is anyway. AI’s are based on us. They are going to do stupid shit just like we do.
But they can do it with greater speed, precision, and consistency.
Wait until they have existential crisis’.
If they can learn and evolve they are subject to the same forces driving our evolution and will develop all of our flaws and eccentricities. We long for angels, gods, higher consciences from the stars and now AI. Turns out they put their pants on one leg at a time just like we do.
Power play
Researchers found that a staggering 34% of 20-somethings skip Day 1 of work, sans communicating with their new employer, as a demonstration of autonomy.
After drudging through the ever-exasperating job hunting process — which often includes submitting dozens of lengthy applications, suffering through endless rounds of interviews and anxiously awaiting updates from sluggish hiring managers — the Z’s are apparently “catfishing” jobs to prove that they, rather than their prospective employers, have all the power.
That’ll certainly teach somebody something.
I’m not really wishing for this recession to be deeper (or just official) — but man, this doesn’t seem the job market to try that crap in. And it doesn’t look to be getting better. Seems that “Bye bye bye” would be a theme song pretty quickly…
“If you don’t come in on your first day, don’t bother coming in on your second.”
“Woohoo, four day weekend!”
Yeah, I’ve always found that in order to make a power play, you need to be in a position of power.
It’s only happened a couple of times in my entire career (I took advantage of both)
Do you really have power if you do that from your mom’s basement?
In lower-end jobs, I have heard a lot about younger people showing up to work for a day, deciding they don’t like it, and then just disappearing without so much as a call. That’s the reason my middle kid has a steady job – she doesn’t have a great work ethic, but it never occurred to her to just “not show up”.
The girlfriend has had several employees go through the interview process, and then just ghost for the first day of work. I’ve heard similar complaints from bartenders and waitstaff at bars/restaurants. Seems idiotic to me as it seems the applicant is the one wasting their time and making their future prospects worse.
My son has this problem at the restaurant he manages.
People show up for a day or two and then he never hears from them until they collect the pay for that time.
Huh… not something I understand — but I guess it will keep us from eating dogfood when inflation makes retirement impossible (because our generation will actually show up and work)… Yay?
Food service is a tough job on many levels.
I remember my kids/friends, they moved from fast food places like clockwork. Football game, no show, following week a friend would get a job at a different fast food, recommend his/her friends and the cycle would begin a new. I don’t know how many different places my kids worked but it was several.
I had a few employees that quit during the shift, for one reason or another, mostly because they felt I expected them to work.
That’s pretty common in the restaurant business. My sister did that…in 1974. Better for the business that she quit right away than having a person show up with a bad attitude serving customers.
I no-showed a supermarket cashier job ~1992. I was sick as a dog in the middle of Buffalo winter and I had to ride a bike several miles to get there. And in between a full load of classes.
Not my finest moment but far from the worst decision I made in my school years.
Participation trophies were specifically intended to teach entitlement and poor work ethic. Congratulations proggies. Soon the people that pushed that shit will be in assisted living facilities assisted by the monsters they raised.
Did anyone besides me, Shpip/Mrs. Shpip get a room for the Iceland cruise?
The girlfriend and I have our deposit down, and I believe PissedOffNick said he had as well.
SWEEEEEETTTTTTTTTT
Because it’s sold out (except Shpip-class)
Yep, we are in.
Uh-oh…
Looks like Sheldon is going first class, baby!
Hey, the 1st class rooms have come down in price since last week! 😂
Fuck. I really do want to do this one.
How many people can (legally) stay in a first-class suite?
Looks like 4, Sheldon
The sleeper sofa in our ship was a queen. Not sure about the bed in the bedroom – sometimes they can be broken into twins.
You and the Shpips got a room together?
Interesting threesome.

Go to a nice old-fashioned cafeteria for a quick meal and steal the tray.\what I learned in college
We used TV table trays when I was a kid (anyone else remember/have the “Metal legs that expanded and the tray snapped on with plastic snaps”? They made good emergency sleds — there’s no point in buying “real” ones in the South East… you almost never get to use one).
I have a large amount of cardboard and duct tape…

They’re saying, like, 10″ of snow. I am scarred from DC snow forecasts, where 90% of the time they don’t come true. 🤞
Where are you headed?
It doesn’t matter if it actually snows, they will still close schools. That few inches on Monday has closed schools for a week.
Nowhere, Tundra…gonna be a winter wonderland up here in the Smokies!
Ah, roger that. Enjoy!
Of course they are lying. 10″ of white stuff? When has that ever panned out?
Bravo, Jimbo.
Unwanted influence
When tech tycoon Elon Musk interviews German far-right leader Alice Weidel on X on Thursday night, Europe’s powerful tech regulators will be watching closely for possible violations of EU law.
They’ll be less concerned with the banter than with how the Musk-owned platform and algorithm pushes the livestream to its more than 100 million EU users. In particular, they’ll be evaluating whether X gives an unfair campaign advantage to Weidel’s Alternative for Germany (AfD) party over its rivals.
Musk’s online interview comes just weeks before Germany’s Feb. 23 general election, with the anti-immigration AfD currently polling second. Musk recently praised the group as the “last spark of hope” for Germany, drawing widespread accusations of election interference.
Unfair advantage, as in allowing her to speak without an “interpreter”.
I have never wanted us to say “Fuck off EU” and leave NATO more than I do whenever they threaten Americans for free speech. Get any and all offices and assets out of their shit holes and let them try to firewall the Internet like the totalitarians they are.
That is especially adorable. The petulance is fucking… unseemly.
Shame really needs to make a comeback. See also: Not showing up for work your goddamn first day. Especially frustrating as I’m looking for work and, once hired, bet your ass I’ll be there *early.* Uh. Make Protestant Work Ethic Great Again? MmmmPWEGA(!) swallows all in its path.
Oh, C’mon. These arrogant authoritarian fucks have already got their conclusion and drawn it up.
A team of up to 150 European Commission officials in Brussels and Seville will help scrutinize whether Musk’s social media site plays by the European Union’s tech rules. They wield far-reaching investigative powers that allow them to visit X’s offices and request access to its algorithm and internal correspondence.
The Brussels-based enforcers of the Digital Services Act (DSA) at the Commission’s DG CONNECT tech department are assisted by experts from the European Centre for Algorithmic Transparency in Spain.
Evidence gathered Thursday evening could bolster the EU’s landmark case against X under the DSA. The bloc formally charged Musk’s platform with failing to respect EU rules in July and is finalizing its decision — a first-of-its-kind verdict under the tech law.
They don’t like uppity African-Americans very much in Brussels.
That’s not Orwellian at all.
Pour one out for the “professional” fact checkers.
An open letter to Mark Zuckerberg from the world’s fact-checkers, nine years later
The whole censorship industry is a bunch of sleazy denials like this. “We never censored anyone, we just assembled evidence, put people on a list, and handed it over to the people who did.” While the people who actually did the censorship say “I was just following orders, it wasn’t my decision.”
It’s similar to the way bureaucrats ban things like incandescent light bulbs. We didn’t ban them. We just made standards that they couldn’t meet.
Excellent point.

In case you don’t already hate doctors
More than 15,000 doctors have signed a letter urging senators to vote against confirming Robert F. Kennedy Jr., President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for secretary of health and human services.
“The health and well-being of 336 million Americans depend on leadership at HHS that prioritizes science, evidence-based medicine, and strengthening the integrity of our public health system,” the letter reads. “RFK Jr. is not only unqualified to lead this essential agency — he is actively dangerous.”
The letter was posted online by the Committee to Protect Health Care, a physicians advocacy group. Beyond his well-documented anti-vaccine views and advocacy, the letter cites other conspiracy theories Kennedy has actively spread, including baseless claims about a link between school shootings and antidepressants and his promotion of disproven treatments for Covid-19.
“This appointment is a slap in the face to every health care professional who has spent their lives working to protect patients from preventable illness and death,” the letter says.
Dicks out for science.
“Committee to Protect Health Care”
Sounds like a 100% grassroots organization representing only the most trustworthy of doctors from your hometown, and I’m sure in no way tied to pharma companies, lobbying groups, NGO’s, or the Democrat party.
https://www.influencewatch.org/non-profit/committee-to-protect-health-care-ctp/
Commie fuckheads, what a shock.
“It is a super PAC and advocacy organization that supports expanded government intervention in health care provision and liberal abortion access”
You’re right TOK. It couldn’t possibly be linked to any leftist lobbying group.
What Tundra said. Anytime I see ‘committee for…’ it is kind of a giveaway.
Does “disproven” mean something different in authoritarian-hack universe?
Why yes, yes it does.

It’s just a web form you can fill out, with no apparent vetting.
In terms of the signatories:
“Abbreviated names and states will only be shared with reporters to demonstrate the breadth of physician opposition. This information will not be published publicly in any form.”
But, trust them, that number is totally legit and not at all just famed urologist I.P. Freely, M.D. and friends.

Short, engaging read. Well worth the time.
The text of Title IX states “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation, in be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”
We keep being told that sex and gender are two different things so expanding Title IX to include gender without Congressional approval is an obvious violation of the clear wording of the law.
Our intellectual betters pretend to be unaware of chromosomes, of which the overwhelming majority of people fall in to one of two types.
These same people think someone with the bones, nerves, and muscles of a man (XY) can be in a fair fight against a woman (XX).
Because gender is a spectrum.

Harris appeared to grimace, before facing forward again with, briefly, a strained look on her face.
At first, Harris paged through her funeral program as Emhoff looked around at the rafters of the majestic Episcopal church.
