Lone Eagle

by | Jul 26, 2020 | Musings | 402 comments

Golden light at daybreak,

Lone Eagle dances across the water,

Mates perch ready,

Breakfast is served,

Dawn breaks early,

Yet the Sun will not rise,

Like a Kentucky Holler,

In the Blue desert,

Crisp dry air,

And trees,

And warm wind from the south,

A burning Sun cools as well,

Take things as they present themselves,

Cool water,

Still the grass grows,

Still the Morning comes,

With tranquility,

A calm,

A Sense of purpose,

Live now, with purpose,

Like every day is your last,

It may be,

Fare Well,

Forget not,

The things we see,

And find peace,

Know that I am a storyteller, no more, and I leave my prose scattered for all to peruse, to take, or leave, as you see fit.

I have seen Star Trek. I just don’t remember all the made-up engineering stuff.

I don’t read poetry, and the only self-admitted fiction I read is SugarFree. Although I read plenty of made up shit in the news.

  14. UnCivilServant

It’s a small detail unimportant to the actual plot, but I’m trying to figure out how to describe a bottle that combines a body shaped like this one with a top like this one.

    • Suthenboy

My ability to be a wordsmith is highly dependent on my state of mind. Apparently I am having an off day. I looked at your examples and went completely blank.

      • UnCivilServant

That’s where I am too. I have the mental picture, but not the verbiage.

    • westernsloper

“It was a tapered bottle shoulders wider than the base with a mouth resembling that of the flower of a gang banged coed without the tell tale signs of excessive drippage”?

    • Ted S.

Why don’t you just use amphoras instead?

      • UnCivilServant

The wide part is on the wrong end and it’s too fat relative to the height.

      • kinnath

What is the purpose of your bottle? Serving at the table? Storing?

      • UnCivilServant

It’s the shape of the bottle in which the taverns of the Palm Coast sell fig wine. It’s supposed to be pouring into a cup, but Kord the Younger drinks directly from the bottle since it fits his hand (and he had a much higher alcohol tolerance than the locals).

Later on, when he starts making his own fig wine (or rather has the tenants on a property he aquires do so) he orders fancier bottles of the same shape because it feels right to him.

      • kinnath

So blown glass and not turned clay pottery?

      • UnCivilServant

The original are cheap earthenware because they get broken a lot. Kords fancy ones might be porcelain.

      • kinnath

That shape would be much more doable in porcelain than blown glass.

      • UnCivilServant

I’m pretty sure it comes from a memory of a sake bottle.

      • kinnath

        Sake. Right. Now it clicks.

      • kinnath

Do you have a concept in your world on how wine is made, stored, transported, and served?

Throughout the middle ages, wine would have been fermented in barrels, then stored and transported in the same barrel (typically tun barrels — 256 gallons). When it was time to drink, the tun barrels would have been broken down into smaller and smaller barrels/casks until all the wine in barrel/cask could be consumed in a couple of days.

From these casks, it would have been decanted into pitchers to be served at a table.

It sounds like your character prefers to drink straight from the decanter instead of a cup.

      • UnCivilServant

        Pretty much.

He’s not known for his table manners when loafing around.

      • kinnath

I’m not sure I can help you describe the vessel. But it all makes sense now.

He’s drinking from inexpensive earthenware sake-decanter-like serving vessels.

And yes, it would be completely feasible to have those made in fine porcelain later.

        Good luck.

      • Homple

        I resemble that remark.

    • Tejicano

“The bottle was a cylinder blown wider, more so in the upper half, with the top necked down and topped with a small, graceful funnel. “

      • Tejicano

Or substitute “funnel” with “small, flared mouth”

      • UnCivilServant

Maybe. Let me mull it over.

      • Tejicano

        I hope it helps.

I blame the people of these cities. The Soros crowd began targetting local elections and prosecutors in particular several years ago. Now they are avoiding prosecuting people for well documented crimes if they have far left political motives. Simply being on a limited access highway is a crime – for a good reason. And as far as I know, none of these places are prosecuting this crime… and people have died because of that fact.

I blame the citizens who stand and cheer instead of running these politicians out of town on a rail.

    • Jarflax

The massive entitlement and disconnection from reality you have to have to be shocked when someone you are assaulting fights back, or even attempts to escape is astonishing. Newsflash, when you start a fight the other guy gets to respond.

After spending a few minutes on Facebook, watching people shout each other done, I need e d a mental refresher. I took myself back to a simpler time of discourse. I chose an old.firing line debate from the early nineties.

And the irony being that the patent number is 060606 (at least that part is most definitely true).

      • Hyperion

Someone in the comments made the remark that ‘Gates is just trolling those dummies that still believe in religion’. IOW the media is already furiously rewriting and/or obfuscating whatever actually happened.

        Don’t read the comments

      • Plinker762

Yup. Story is he innocently walked up to the car and was shot. Audio available has two distinct sounding gun shot sounds. Rapid fire from what to me does sound like an AK and then a moment later shots from a softer sounding firearm, most likely pistol.

Usual disclaimer that all info is suspect until much later.

      • cyto

It sounds like police are saying the first 5 shots are from the shooter in the car. There are also 2 additional shooters, one fires 3 shots and 1 fires 1.

All of the internet supposition looks to be that the beefier sound of the first 5 shots is the AK, but that is not what police are apparently reporting. They have a CC bystander who also fired, and casings from three different weapons.

        “69”…

    • blackjack

APD is saying the 5 came from the driver and three more came from another protester. Sure sounded like a rifle for the first volley to me. I imagine one could watch the time stamps and determine if the last three were after the driver split, the whole encounter was around 25 seconds. Either way, the crowd was menacing enough without AK man rushing the drivers side of the car. Somebody yell’s “everybody get back” right before the first volley goes off. Some people think it was AK guy signalling his shots, but it might have been somebody who saw the driver’s gun. Need more info. 5 rounds of 7.62 certainly would leave a mark somewhere.

      • Tejicano

Sound recordings don’t necessarily give a good indication of what is being fired. The mike being close to the handgun (if that were the case) could make it sound like a bigger gun.

OK, interesting. It wouldn’t surprise me if the driver felt like he was about to get mobbed and opened fire, then somebody in the crowd fired back but due to lack of practice didn’t hit anything regardless of intent to hit or miss.

      • blackjack

Well, the driver ( assuming the first five were his) hit Ak man tree times and no one else in the crowd with his two flyers. It was a dense crowd. I can easily imagine Ak guy thinking he could disable the car and firing for that reason. It’s also reasonably possible that the driver fired first. I would consider doing that in his shoes. The video starts pretty close and the last three are heard from behind cover, so your theory is totes possible too.

Why in the fuck these rioters think they have to stop every car, I don’t know. They could’ve just moved out of his way and let him by and everyone would be fine. They are so worked up hunting imaginary Nazis, they pick fight with every normal person who comes along.

Ages ago, babymama’s oldest was a junior or senior in high school, and loved playing Call of Duty online. I told him- you really want to see what its like? Go enlist when you graduate. Try 11B- infantry.
His answer? “Hell no. Ill stay on the couch.”

      • Hyperion

Smart kid. I mean unless he really wanted to enlist.

When I was 18, there were guys driving around trying to recruit kids. I don’t know how they found you, maybe they were getting lists from local high schools on graduates or something. But anyway, one day this car pulls in the driveway and these 2 guys in military attire get out. Me and my cousin, both of us just graduated like a month ago, were standing out in the yard. The guys walk up and start talking to us. We find out they’re recruiting. Neither of us signed up, but I thought my cousin was going to do it.

Myself, it’s not for me, the discipline would kill me before I got out of boot camp. One of my fondest memories from graduating was thinking that I could sleep in every day, at least until I had to get a job. I would have fucking nightmares after that, that I was signed up and shipped out for combat. Fuck that shit, it wasn’t the combat that scared me, it was being told what do do all day.

      • Tejicano

I totally respect that attitude and the fact that you knew yourself well enough to know it’s not for you.

This isn’t Sparta and I don’t want to live in a society where every adult male has been trained to kill his fellow man. We need some people to balance out for the weirdos like me.

      • Hyperion

Yeah, man, seriously I had terrible nightmares. You know the ones where you wake up and are confused for a few moments and then you’re like ‘Oh, that was a dream, thank God!’. In the dream, I’d always be on a plane or boat headed out for some deployment and I’d just panic, I’d be thinking ‘Why did I sign up for this, I just want to go home and I can’t!’.

      • Tejicano

        I understand.

I have always been one to charge into my fears. I’ve been doing that since I was 4 or 5. It’s the only way I know to defeat them and move on. When I was 17 in my first platoon after boot camp I just learned to accept that I would probably be the one who takes a bullet through the head right after jumping off a chopper in a hot LZ – I actually preferred that idea to being maimed/paralyzed for life.

This isn’t bravery – just pissed off at my fear and not accepting its control over me.

      • Festus' Mustache

That was me at that age and me even now. It could have done me a world of good but would not have been a good fit for my temperament.

      • Tejicano

Well, that was perfectly brain dead. He said he is carrying an AK because somebody he knows was arrested and “they won’t let us march anywhere so I started carrying…” Huh? I guess that with such a brilliant, well-reasoned purpose to be armed he would end up pointing his AK at the wrong person for the wrong reasons.

        Well, …bye!

      • Hyperion

Yeah, they won’t let them eat tide pods, so there has to be someway to let idiots eliminate themselves from the gene pool.

      • kinnath

I just watched a video of the police chief:

        1) dead guy appears to have approached the vehicle and pointed the rifle at the driver.

        2) the driver shot the guy with the rifle; driver fled the scene; driver called into police saying he was involved in shooting; driver questioned and released.

        3) third party shot at fleeing vehicle; 3rd party also called police saying he shot at vehicle; 3rd party questioned and released.

      • Tejicano

If that’s all true – assuming the police chief would not be releasing hearsay – then it sounds like the driver was in the right. AK guy gets the Darwin award for pointing a firearm at something he had no immediate intention to shoot.

      • Hyperion

These antifa heroes think it’s a video game. And the media are encouraging them to do this. The media should be held accoutable for all this bullshit and whoever is paying them to do it. Because if no one was paying them, they would have already gotten bored and just went home, this is being funded. If the feds really wanted this to stop, they’d go after the ring leaders.

It says the shooter is in custody and is cooperating. I hope the hear soon that he/she has been released. There is no reason to expect anybody to sit still while some freak is pointing a gun at them and wait until said freak makes the first move. This isn’t a 1950’s western movie.

If somebody points a gun at me in that situation I have a green light to shoot and I would believe I have the rest of my life to make good on that chance.

Ahead of us, however, was just more corridor. The passage looked like it streteched on forever. The mountains behind Kheimopolis were hundreds of miles thick, so the corridor could have been exceedingly long. But something felt wrong. On a hunch, I dropped the butt end of the broken haft on the smooth floor as we walked. I got a few odd looks, but no one stopped to pick up the damaged piece of halberd. We continued walking forward for about a minute. We stopped when I stooped down and picked up the butt end of the halberd haft.

“Well,” Hengist said, “That’s a problem.”

Looking behind us, the corridor appeared identical to the corridor before us.

      • Digby and the Wonder Llama

        “I think they bought it!!”

      • cyto

Yeah, that’s such a ludicrous lie… and a lie that reveals that there is a larger strategy at work. When the media, the politicians and the activists are all singing from the same hymnal on something like this, and there’s clear video that shows exactly the opposite, it really shows how tight their command and control is.

They did this with the very first national Antifa story – Charlottesville. I watched NBC covering it live. They had video of a bunch of black clad stormtrooper looking dudes attacking what appeared to be a bunch of middle aged Walmart refugees. NBC’s anchors kept referring to the black clad folks as Alt-right and racists. Over and over…. then I got a look at the giant shield they had brought and were using in their attack. It was painted black with the word “Antifa” on it. I had never heard of that word. So I googled it. And then it was clear that NBC was lying to me.

They stuck with the narrative for over an hour, showing me video of black clad alt-right people attacking innocent counter-protesters. Then somebody finally pointed out that the folks in black were Antifa, and the walmart refugees were the alt-right people. Without a word, they switched narratives. Now the black clad people who were clearly attacking the other group were the victims of unprovoked attacks. This, despite the fact that they had spent well over an hour – maybe 2 hours – telling me that the people in black were attacking the other group. Not that I couldn’t see it for myself. But that video was everywhere for a few hours – and universally touted as racist alt-right people attacking counter protesters, even though they switched which group was the counter protester, they didn’t switch which group was doing the attacking.

The lie was in place, and no visual evidence was going to change that fact. And neither was their own interpretation minutes before.

The mandatory mask bylaw went into effect here about 2 weeks ago. I haven’t worn a mask yet.

There are exempted groups. One of them is breathing difficulties. I have sleep apnea. There is nothing in the bylaw that says you have to experience the breathing difficulties while awake.

The city expects businesses to enforce the bylaw by requiring them to have someone asking patrons to wear a mask.

Interesting social observation: I am a large somewhat intimidating looking male. I have only been asked by female staff if I have a mask. When I have encountered male staff, I have not been challenged (all have been smaller than me).

Unfortunately, the girl working security at the liquor store might be bigger than me.

(AP) Candidate Joe Biden has released his plan to create millions of new jobs. In a power point presentation done in crayon on his basement wall, Biden explained to the vast majority of his online audience that, uh, never mind, oh yeah, that uh, shit, he lost it again. (Off camera – “The roads, Mr. Vice President). Geez, what was he thinking. Yeah, he’s gonna hire millions of people to tear up every road in the US and have them repaved.

“It’s a big fucking deal”, the former Vice President blurted as his eyeball filled with blood. “Every road will be paved with this new synthetic material: Hypo Energetic Lithium Lining.” It may take years to complete the project, but “This is a big fucking deal, man”. • Plinker762

Yes it can. There are a couple of companies that make reliable magazines. A stronger hammer spring and modified firing pin are used due to the hard primers in most of the 7.62×39 ammo. The primer hardness really varies between manufacturers. The only concern I have, but so far has not been an issue, is that the bolt face has to be opened up so much it takes material away from the locking lugs. (although the case head dia. is the same as the 6.5 Grendel round)

More (?) on the Austin protester shooting: https://hotair.com/archives/taylormillard/2020/07/26/protester-shot-death-austin/

The author mentions something about his rifle looking like it was pointed at the ground. She also mentions that any 2A advocate should be OK with them carrying (yes). But…if he was pointing it at the ground (and I don’t see that), we was still brandishing. And, while that charge can be misused by po-po, it would certainly seem to be true in that pic, even if he is pointing it at the ground.

But, that is, ultimately, moot at this point.

If he was full on pointing at cars and people, he’d have been picked up before then. Even in Texas, cops are cops and don’t take kindly to that shit. And, lots and lots of people are gun-ignorant and/or afraid.

      • Hyperion

There are some people saying they saw the still pics of that same guy pointing it at motorists during that day, several different times. I haven’t seen them, so I can’t say if it’s true. But if it is, I won’t be surprised. I think what we see there is a dude who wanted to impress his GF what a tough guy he is. It didn’t work out well for him.

What the fuck sort of genius goes out with a rifle pointing it at motorists? In this case, a dead one. Darwin award for sure.

      • Digby and the Wonder Llama

If he did, I am super disappointed that it took that long to reap the whirlwind. In Texas. We are either too cowardly, too forgiving, or, aren;t enough of us carrying.

  30. Digby and the Wonder Llama

OK–a bit of a change-up: Margot Kidder as Lois Lane. I’ve never been convinced. Not that Margot couldn’t “doll up”. A bit. But, I just don’t see why she would be the face of LL in the iconic cinema version.

Now, Valerie Perrine–total 1970’s (and prior) smoke show, and a great addition to the cast.

    • salted earth

Do you think Christopher Reeve was a good choice for superman?

      • Digby and the Wonder Llama

Yeah, I’d say so. Not sure who I’d pick, if I were going to re-cast (or, that it’s needed). Then again, I really like Cavill in the role; I think he does a good job, for what they’ve come up with, currently.

But, I don’t see his Clark/Supes going for Margot Kidder.

      • Digby and the Wonder Llama

        His Clark being Reeve’s

      • hayeksplosives

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought that about Margot Kidder.

        Her lips were too thin.

Or Maybe we instinctively knew she’d go batshit later.

      • Digby and the Wonder Llama

Yeah–lips, jawline, nose…. Like I said, she could kinda doll up a bit. But, I just don’t see why it was her. After doing Norma Rae, Sally Fields coulda been a good Lois, maybe. It’s far enough removed that I’m not quite sure who I’d cast.

But, even as a kid, I didn’t understand why he would be attracted to Margot…she seemed like she was a bar-fly with a journalism job.

      • salted earth

Haven’t seen the Cavill movie. Sort of remember the Reeve’s one, not sure if I’ve seen the sequels.

      • Plinker762

        Otis made those movies, lol.

      • Digby and the Wonder Llama

I…..gotta disagree with that, plink. I was watching this morning, and he just…..cringe. Now, I’m sure I liked it when I was younger. But, he was in Deliverance (boy, was he)…Ned deserves better.

      • Plinker762

I always preferred Dirty Harry or the man with no name over Superman. Something about the wholesomeness just turned me off.

I retract my earlier statement. It was Eve Teschmacher that made the movie.

      • Digby and the Wonder Llama

Something about the wholesomeness just turned me off.

Tsk tsk tsk….why do you hate good things, plink? 😉

      • salted earth

        So…wholesome is a no go?

      • Plinker762

I like things with an edge.

      • Digby and the Wonder Llama

        So…..The Edge?

      • hayeksplosives

Gene Hackman stole the show. Not too over-the-top.

I loved the part where he tells his lady that he sent another bomb, as a diversion, to Hackensack, NJ.

She bleats “But Lex! My mother lives in Hackensack!”

Lex/Hackman casually looks down at his wrist, then looks up at her and shakes his head in the negative. Perfect dark comic timing.

      • Plinker762

He steals most of the movies he’s in.

      • Digby and the Wonder Llama

Not to get all film critic here, but, the movie(s) doesn’t really develop Lex–he’s already there, and a criminal mastermind that no one really seems to know about, except for the “Lethal Weapon Captain” cop guy and his partner. Mario/whoever was responsible for writing his part, should have done more to build him.

I mean, he knows how to re-route nuclear missiles, so…. Plus, why Otis? He couldn’t get better lackeys?

But, to your point, YES on Gene “Not-a-hack” Hackman. He was quite good.

    • Gustave Lytton

Eh, Kidder was just off Black Christmas and Great Waldo Pepper, and looked like a news reporter. Or at least to my childhood eyes. She’ll always be Lois Lane to me. The suspension of disbelief was how much she screamed in the movies.

      • Digby and the Wonder Llama

She definitely inhabits the role in my mind, too. The attraction part, though…I have trouble with that.

      • Festus' Mustache

She had a great rack, though. She looked a lot like my ex.

      • salted earth

Teri Hatcher, I watched the 90s Superman t.v. show.

  31. hayeksplosives

I haven’t caught up on the whole thread. Is double eagle weathering the storm OK?

    • Plinker762

He put to sea and is running before it.

Last I saw he was fine.

    • Digby and the Wonder Llama

I haven’t read anything on his situation.

      • hayeksplosives

About 24 hours before the storm hit Hawaii, he mentioned that if it tacked one way, he’d get tropical storm level rain and wind, vu if it went the other way, he’d get hurricane force.

Let’s hope the storm weakens quickly.

      • Digby and the Wonder Llama

        Damn right!

      • salted earth

He posted a bit of an update in the Glib-fit post at the end (comment 38).

  32. Digby and the Wonder Llama

    Ooops: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jG9Jj9tWug

I doubt the officer got fired. But, given the current state of things, maybe that wouldn’t be a bad idea.

    • salted earth

      That’s…um…

      • Digby and the Wonder Llama

        Yeah.

    • Plinker762

And only half of them have their CCPV masks on!!

      • salted earth

At least it didn’t a year (or years) to get the video out. I saw the mask and was surprised the video was recent.

    • Gustave Lytton

The one who left their firearm accessible? Or someone else there?

      • Digby and the Wonder Llama

The arresting officer–the one who left it accessible. I saw that there was disciplinary action taken, and fuck-head shouldn’t have done everything he did (he got himself shot up). That said, his negligence led to that shooting needing to be done.

  33. Akira

    Nice, Yusef.

Take things as they present themselves,

    Live now, with purpose,
Like every day is your last,

Have you been reading Seneca or other stoics? I’m about halfway through his Letters on Ethics, and I’m loving it. That’s gonna be one of them “life changer” books.

    • Digby and the Wonder Llama

      worthless worldometer

Sort of a ‘rectal’ worldometer, then?

      • straffinrun

Actually used “shitty” first but changed it to “worthless.”

      • Digby and the Wonder Llama

        Great minds, and all.

    • Plinker762

US excess deaths I’ve been watching this page. Supposedly it takes several weeks for all the numbers to come in.

      • Digby and the Wonder Llama

That graph looks like waves. Hmm…..

      • hayeksplosives

Your current handle reminds me of the Ogden Nash verse I learned and relied on in childhood.

        The one L lama, he’s a priest
        The two L llama, he’s a beast
And I will bet my silk pyjama
There isn’t any three L lllama.
        — O. Nash,

      • Digby and the Wonder Llama

        I like that. Also–Cuidado!

      • Digby and the Wonder Llama

Also, apropos of the post! So, double-good.

      • Gustave Lytton

I’m no statistician, but only having data from 2013 and no gauge of what is normal yearly variation seems to be a little lacking.

      • Gustave Lytton

And since it’s only from 2013, what does the chart between 2013 and 2017 look like?

    • JD is in the United Karendom

Sure would be nice if that was available for muh western world. I mean it probably is somewhere in some form, but w/e.

      • JD is in the United Karendom

        ps – Morning, Straff, others.

I like the FAQs at the bottom. This is 138% better than those reductive worldometer charts.

    • Suthenboy

      Well, it is a mystery.

    • JD is in the United Karendom

I still haven’t seen that comet that was sailing by. I probably missed it now. Oh well.

      • Plinker762

Everybody that sees it is going to go blind.

      • Gender Traitor

Won’t matter if they’re blind when we’re all blowed up. Come on, SMOD!

Also, good morning Sean, JD, & Plink.

      • Plinker762

They get eaten by the Triffids first.

I’ve been up all night trying to finish an stupid users manual.

      • Gender Traitor

        Reading or writing?

      • Plinker762

        Writing.

      • UnCivilServant

Just remember to put in a fake step the users don’t have to do but won’t hurt the process.

      • Festus' Mustache

Every time I get a chance to see it it has been overwhelmed by city light and out here in the holler they ain’t no chance. Mornin’ Glibs!

      • Gender Traitor

        Mornin’, Fes!

  34. UnCivilServant

… I didn’t get caught up on sleep, and almost slept past the start of my work day

    • Gender Traitor

Bad news: you’re not really awake. You’re just dreaming that you’ve awakened to start work.

      • UnCivilServant

I’ve never had a false awakening.

I’ve also been trying to figure out how to describe the plot of the dream I was having before getting up, only to realize my dreams are shockingly narritively consistant, and generally not starring me. Except for that one a few weeks back where I was playing with kittens. That one was wierd. Nothing odd happened in it nor was the setting strange, it was just me and a couple of tabby kittens, which is what makes it strange among the set of dreams I remember.

      • Gender Traitor

Would read a short story about you playing with kittens…as long as it didn’t take too dark a turn.

I need to make more of an effort to remember my dreams when I first wake up. The trouble is that as soon as the cat figures out I’m awake, he marches up, headbutts me in the face, and demands to be petted.

      • UnCivilServant

I only really remember the final scene of this morning’s dream, where two guys were brought to the apartment of the crime boss who was mad at them. After giving the boss the macguffin stuff, one of them takes advantage of the distraction to slip his restraints and run out the door. The floor in the hallway has metal plating just outside the door, and a chainmail mesh extending down the passage. While the guy is running, the boss follows him out wearing electrified boots, so when the running guy grabs the doorknob on another apartment, he completes the circuit and dies.

      • Gender Traitor

Does this tie in with the noir story you’ve been working on?

      • UnCivilServant

No. And ‘crime boss’ is probably too grandiose a title for the impression I got of the character.

      • Festus' Mustache

        It was Tony Cuomo.

      • Festus' Mustache

That is amazingly specific! I rarely remember dreams like that but they are in technicolor. Tears in the rain.

      • Plinker762

So he didn’t have a vat of acid to hide in?

      • UnCivilServant

Where’s he going to find a vat of acid in an apartment building?

      • Sean

I still recall a dream I had some 35ish years ago.

It took place in front of a friends house, who lived across from a cemetery. Stepping on the cracks in the sidewalk released a skeleton in the cemetery. Somehow a big daddy long leg spider featured in the dream too, but I don’t remember quite how.

      • Gender Traitor

Yeah, that’s the sort of dream that will stick with a kid.

      • Festus' Mustache

I used to have terrible nightmares when I was wee. Must have trained myself.

      • Trigger Hippie

As a kid I had a reoccurring dream where a bearded giant wearing nothing but a loin cloth and armed with a club bigger than a grown man would chase me through a feild until I dove into some barbed wire fencing and got stuck. As the giant’s club descended I would wake up terrified.

Glad those went away a few decades ago.

      • Festus' Mustache

Gah! I used to watch scary shows and read horror novels and instead of being the victim in the dream I’d be the murderer trying to cover up the crime or even worse, an innocent that looked guilty by circumstance.

      • Festus' Mustache

‘Member that daddy long leg that crawled up your leg when you were in the stroller? The daddy long leg remembers…

  35. Gender Traitor

And, of course, just when it’s time for me to get off my butt and finish getting ready for work, the cat comes along and climbs into my lap. Sorry, dude, but the local news says there’s a house fire that has traffic blocked on my usual route to the interstate, so I’m going to have to go slightly out of my way and therefore leave a little sooner.

    • Festus' Mustache

New diet seems to be helping the namesake. He played on his own for hours on Saturday night. Fingers crossed…

      • Gender Traitor

Good news! Hope he continues to improve!

      • Festus' Mustache

Thanks, me too! Stupid Covid. Just another week and a bit before we light a small bonfire of cash in front of the one Vet clinic that will see us.

      • Festus' Mustache

NewDog and NewFence seem all but inevitable at this point. Lab puppies are are pretty irresistible.

  36. straffinrun

Just in case you forgot, fuck Fauci.

    • Festus' Mustache

      Yep. That’s a gud’un.

      • straffinrun

Unload all the stupid shit on bitchute. Where else am I gonna save my efforts?
