A dude from the White Sox threw a no-hitter last night! Serena is finally showing her age. And I don’t know what this guy thinks they’re going to accomplish. It’s like he doesn’t even know how out legal system works. But whatever.
Big birthdays today are: first British PM Robert Walpole, “Charlie Chan” author Earl Biggers, cyclist Tullio Campagnolo, polio vaccine inventor Albert Sabin, missionary Mother Teresa, catcher Alex Trevino, pitcher Ricky Bottalico, child actor Macauley Culkin, and that’s pretty much it. It was a shit list today.
Which means it’s time for…the links!
Kenosha, Wisconsin is getting totally out of control. The media will undoubtedly paint the shootings as some vigilante shit. But this looked like people stepping in to defend private property because the government wouldn’t do so.
This is getting close to being really bad. I’m thinking Lake Charles still. But who knows really. I’m in Oklahoma. Not much I can do aside from make a phone call telling people to leave.
I hope you fear-mongering teachers see this. Of course, you won’t give a fuck when you do. This isn’t about the kids after all. It’s about an election. Well congratulations: you wanting to tip the electoral scales is only going to have serious emotional consequences for most of a generation of kids. You bunch of pricks.
I kind of agree with this decision. People voluntarily engaging in a brawl shouldn’t be against the law. Now, it should have been moved out of the street to a private venue, but aside from that, I have no issue with it. Let all these fuckos fight shit out.
This is the opposite of peaceful. And it’s gotten so bad that even hardcore leftists in the media are saying it’s probably not cool. Which for them to say means that it’s absolutely bad optics and will hurt the Dems in a couple months. Which it most certainly will…unless others in the media paint it as a false flag operation. And some are already doing just that.
This soap opera gets better every day! Who kew cuckoldry paid so well.
Chicago government wants to make sure property owners know they never really own their own property. This amid a massive budgetary crisis and growing disgust at how shitty the city does just about everything. Let’s see how well Mayor Beetlejuice’s plan goes over with the people who actually pay taxes.
Whoever is running the GOP’s convention should be giving masterclasses on messaging. Love it or hate it, it’s been most effective. And compared to the DNC’s shitshow of a convention, it’s a veritable masterpiece.
Exxon-Mobil gets dropped form the Dow. Man, I didn’t see that coming. Now the Dow can become even more inflated with tech stocks from companies whose earnings never match the stock performance and the bubble can get even bigger. Hooray!
A great song. At least to me. Enjoy.
Now have a great day, friends!
3 shot, 2 dead in overnight Jacob Blake protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin
Good job assholes. And you misspelled “riots” and/or “looting”.
“Jacob Blake Protests” Does no one ever style guide anymore or have we just given up like whipped mongrels? Fuck me.
I just got an email at work about how I now need to take mandatory sensitivity training because of this. Fuck all these assholes.
It is not rioting or looting anymore. It is very clear to me that it is an organized attack on the United States, in other words, war.
I wouldn’t call this mob “organized”.
My tin-foil chapeau says Disagree.
In other words, disorganized anarchists but well-funded cats.
I still think that Antifa is the paramilitary arm of the Democrat party.
I dunno how much of this In Kenosha is flash mob/spontaneous and how much is Portland/Seattle antifa. Because the latter is pretty damn organized.
Those shootings were mostly peaceful.
The peaceful protest intensified.
The ESPN coverage is dreadful as expected. They way they fawn over certain figures is nauseating, so I don’t watch them. Bonus: I like the no fans. Tennis fans are asshoe.
I’d rather there be fans and no announcers. Tennis announcers are so incredibly biased in their coverage of Serena it’s disgusting.
Man, I really wish Venus had passed some of her grace and respect of opponents to her sister. It would have made watching her a lot more enjoyable.
Yup, Venus is classy.
Oh! A golf fan from the late-90’s I imagine. “Ever heard of a certain upstart named Elijah Woods? Plum fellow, came from good stock!” Yeah, it browns the apple of the brand. I hate that slurping noise every time the media picks a favorite.
Elijah? Tiger’s brother by a hobbit mother?
Baseball birthdays listed were 9th and 13th on the WAR list. The top two were current players: David Price and Elvis Andrus. Both look like they are headed to the Hall of Very Good.
So, no, not a great list at all, but still better than Bottalico. Did Morgan Ensberg do something to piss you off?
We have different birthday sources. And if I listed everybody you wanted listed, you’d have to bitch about something else. And I don’t want you to have to go through the whole “find something else to complain about” since you’ve got this down like clockwork.
I’m doing you a favor, really. ???
I do have fun checking out baseball reference to see who you missed. If you hit an HoFer, I usually dont check. But seriously, who the hell lists Ricky Bottalico but not David Price?
How does he make a list at all?
Note: He makes the baseball-reference.com list because they list every MLBer ever born on that day. That is 58 players for today. Compared to most of that list, Bottalico is a god.
Because his name is funny.
My criteria for who makes the list is an undefined mess. There’s no sense in trying to understand it. Hell, I can’t even make sense of it.
I get why you picked him. But why is he even on the list you use?
Because that list maker probably has some of the same criteria I have.
Hell, who knows. I think it’s a bit more Brit-centric so it has some goofy inclusions on it because they don’t really know much about our sports.
So, I’ll throw this guy in: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Gildroy_Grant
Won the Victoria Cross in WWI:
“On reaching the crest, it was found that a line of five enemy machine-gun posts offered a serious obstacle to further advance. Under point blank fire, however, the company advanced against these posts. When about twenty yards from the posts Sjt. Grant, closely followed by a comrade, rushed forward ahead of his platoon, and with great dash and bravery entered the centre post, demoralising the garrison and enabling the men of his platoon to mop up the position. In the same manner he then rushed the post on the left and the remaining posts were quickly occupied and cleared by his company. Throughout the whole operation on this and the two previous days Sjt. Grant displayed coolness, determination, and valour of the highest order, and set a splendid example to all.”
If he’s a kindergartener, why is he going back to virtual learning? Did she really make him do virtual pre-school? Kids can color and eat boogers without a teacher.
I hate the world.
There’s nothing else she could have done for the kid, don’t you realize she had to do something!?
A pile of twitter likes does a world of good.
To her ego, right? Fuck that crybaby of hers otherwise (her behavior, not mine).
People need to stop snapping photos and start snapping necks of these gutless admins and teachers who are doing incalculable harm to the emotional well-being of their kids.
I would like to subscribe to your newsletter, Sloop!
I’m doing the next best thing. I’m sending my kids into the school buildings to infect all the teachers with the ick.
How come he’s not wearing a mask?
Still, she said she is thankful for is the teachers who have gone “above and beyond to make this as painless as possible.”
She hasn’t learned anything.
They have done nothing but act like shit-birds. If I can clean toilets for a living in buildings that host hundreds of people a day they can sure as fuck teach 25 kids in one room.
I’d see if kindergarten was mandatory in my state and pull him from enrollment if it wasn’t. Fuck these teachers unions.
A kindergartner with a pencil? Give him some Lincoln logs, tinker toys or leggos. Let kids be kids and stop the formalization. Needs to learn how to take a nap, far more important to a 5 year old
I wish my 3 year old would relearn napping…
Seriously though, we’re sending her to 2 day/week preschool this fall, mostly for the socialization aspect. it would’ve made zero sense to pay for virtual preschool (especially since khan academy has a free one), so we made sure to ask each place whether they were 100% in person and whether the kids would be forced to wear masks.
The storm, which became a hurricane Tuesday morning, was “rapidly intensifying” at 2 a.m. Wednesday and had maximum sustained winds of 105 mph, the National Hurricane Center said. It was forecast to approach the upper Texas and southwestern Louisiana coasts Wednesday evening.
Old news.
Hurricane Laura has rapidly intensified into a Category 3 over the Gulf of Mexico as it heads for a destructive landfall on the upper Texas or southwest Louisiana coasts by early Thursday morning. A potentially catastrophic storm surge and damaging winds will batter the region and a threat of flooding rain and strong winds will extend well inland.
IOW, everybody panic. Nah, but do make necessary preparations and adhere to the hurricane evacuation plan.
Why didn’t Trump stop this?
Stop it? He practically caused it.
^^^ I am stand corrected.
Buy more water!
Friend of mine in Houston posted on FB a pic of a sign at HEB on purchase limits – which included water, but he was highlighting the “2 briskets” limit.
“Git a rope.”
^^ This guy is a programmer.
Chasing down a guy who is carrying an AR gets you stupid prizes.
https://mobile.twitter.com/MrAndyNgo/status/1298501182382473216
I think the guy with the AR in that video is the same one who shot the rioter in the head while defending the car dealership. Looks like the same purple gloves and bag.
https://mobile.twitter.com/livesmattershow/status/1298558424213594118
The rioters must have chased him from the car dealership. All the MSM articles are calling the shot rioters victims and the Kenosha sheriff made some comments about the shooter not being able to escape them (poor guy tried to turn himself).
I’m trying to work on being charitable.
The sympathy I can muster is that it sucks to make mistakes that lead to permanent consequences.
Shelter in place while the mob burns you to death or stand up and fight back? Kenosha is about the same size as my small city. I know which path I would choose.
I’m not saying he didn’t deserve it. He probably deserved to die. I’m just trying to work on being sympathetic even to the unsympathetic.
It is better that he lived and gets to endure the consequences of his stupidity. I hope this serves as a lesson to some of the other dnc/Soros LARPers out there that think they can just keep destroying other peoples shit.
Oh, you can bet your ass CNN and MSNBC will have Captain Hook on their network soon to explain how he was peaceful and those racist white people weren’t really defending anything.
Will CNN ask him why he was carrying a pistol?
No they will go to great lengths to hide that and “fact check” anyone that points out this Soros/dnc stooge started and got what he deserved. Just wish the other asshole with him had also been wounded. Having your tiny dick shot off would make these types think harder about being fucking agents of Marxist destruction cause the left wants to make sure everyone knows they will not tolerate anyone but one of them in charge.
If you want to play scorched earth tactics, you should be ready for some of the burning to happen to your ass. More of that, and I bet a lot of these rich bored white kids that make out Antifa/asshats cadre will think twice.
Why are they calling out to “call the police!”? I has a confuse.
I too am very confusion.
That guys arm. . .ouch. But, play stupid games…
Better that than the two who died. But yup, can’t save any of them didn’t get what they deserve.
Also, what is with the stupid thing where I am logged in but it says I get the error message that I have to be logged in to post? Then I have to log out and log in to redo the post? I hate that. Of course I am logged in, the reply button doesnt even exist otherwise.
Idk. I get kicked out sometimes so I always copy the post before posting just in case.
*Tin can lids scraping together* “robc, Come out to playaay!”
I blame wordpress for all this shit. SP is a goddess.

I am only teetering on the edge of the spectrum. I have my moments.
Teetering on which edge?

My favorite part of that is how the second he pulls the trigger, before the first goblin even has time to scream, the second goblin has his hands up and is backing away.
48 hour rule.
I am reading reports that AR guy, and everyone else involved was antifa, and what we are seeing is red-on-red.
Even antifa fucks have a right to self defense. But you’re right, that there is still a lot of context missing from what is going on here.
I hope the students are revolting.
Most Liberty students are revolting.
Tons of hot, dirty blondes I’d wager…
+ 1 preacher’s daughter
Good morning, Sloopy!
Thanks for braving the wasteland of 2020 media to bring us the lynx.
The fucking school thing is making me insane. My niece is autistic and had been doing really well. Now, because of the fear mongering chicken shit assholes, she has reverted back to her former non-verbal self. These kids cannot be isolated, fuckheads!
Aaaagh.
I hope all of our Gulf Coast Glibs stay safe. Laura looks like a real ball buster.
From the SF Gate article:
Tiresome hacks are tiresome.
You know what isn’t tiresome? The Death to Tyrants podcast. This week Buck interviewed a real live numbers guy to get a sense of what the ‘vid numbers actually mean. Definitely worth a listen.
I think that song is pretty consistently ranked as the best intro evah. I can’t stand the man, but that’s a good song.
Bring your A games today, people. It’s pretty fucked up out there.
The 70s were a weird time. Clapton writing a love song to George Harrison’s wife that is an absolute classic is near the top of the weird list. Along with that Orleans album cover.
That sucks, Friend. They don’t care about the damage that they inflicting on the least of us. We’ve lost 500 junkies in the last three months in our Province because the supplies have dried up per Covid. It’s “bathtub gin” all over again. Suicides are up and I can’t imagine how many chicks are going to work with hidden bruises even if they still have a job. It’s evil and it needs stamping out.
So many undesirables destroyed. Blood for the Blood God, Skulls for the Skull Throne.
Aggressive mob of white BLM protesters threaten and film white diners at DC restaurants and DEMAND they raise their fist and show solidarity with them
I’ll raise something, but it won’t be my fist.
Some of these kinks are to much for me.
The Black Flag. His blood pressure. Sea level. Plenty of options besides his dick, you prevert.
Pretty sure everything you just said is just a euphemism for his dick.
Now the political lefties are getting worried. DC is their backyard and the protesters have obviously slipped the leash.
“while racial injustice protesters came with rocks and fireworks”
Racial injustice protesters my ass. Whoever wrote that should be fired.
Why? They are hitting the essential tasks of their job as propogandists.
Out of a cannon.
I’ve said all along they are LARPers. Their counterparts were well prepared for real street violence.
Honestly, only in America would a group that is protesting police turn around and whine about not getting police protection.
“Wait… you guys thought we meant our protection?”
–Defund the Police protestors
Some are LARPers… some aren’t. Ex-military have been among those arrested and immediately released without needing bail in Portland.
Who is paying them to do this?
I think these groups are being funded by foreign actors. BLM, Antifa, and some of the more radical environmental groups. The core message of all is Marxism and essentially the downfall of America. No grand conspiracy with a shadowy puppet master directing everything. Just money and perhaps some guidance being paid to subversive groups with the intention of causing dissension. Same with funding the campaign chests of Far Left democrat candidates and encouraging their growth and takeover of the Dem party.
I mentioned last night, but we talk every day about the aim of these groups and the progressive Dems is essentially the downfall of America. Makes sense that others besides us see it too and those actors who would benefit from a weaker America would encourage these groups. Just as America provides support to groups in other countries that advance our interests. Soros isn’t funding radical Dems to run as local AGs to advance state Dem party agendas.
So Comintern without the Soviet Union. I can feature that.
Well they aren’t very smart ex-military if they can’t even manage to properly prepare for a fight. What – are they all ex-AF?
Reserves. Weekend warriors.
You mean Soldiers with a real job?
You really think these people would have time to be out there if they had a real job? Cause it seems to me it would be hard to do both the LARPing and make it to work….
With the Dems being so relentlessly negative, all the Pubs had to do was show up. Job done!
The Democrat platform to me amounts to them saying “We hate you and we are going to fuck you to death” while their brownshirts are out burning down the country. It boggles my mind that anyone would vote for them.
There’s a lot of people who want to see their enemies f***** to death. It’s about dominating the other.
Politics is like dodgeball. You gotta grab it by the haunches and hump it into submission.
oh, so Jerry Falwell was just watching some dodgeball. it all makes sense!
“If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a Dodge-ball!”
I could never dodge a wench and never tried. Rarely succeeded getting hit on by a wench either, truth be known.
You should really watch the movie, Dad. It’s actually pretty funny.
Remind me not to play dodgeball with Sloop.
Trump should put this ad up on every network (censored) the week before the election. Not just to piss off Michael Moore.
I forgot how powerful that ad was.
Thanks. I hadn’t seen that in a while.
Fat-Boy is a secret Nazi!
In the convention’s first half-hour, the convention aired a video featuring Trump signing a pardon for Jon Ponder, an ex-convict who now runs an acclaimed prisoner reentry program. Later, military aides opened the doors to the White House Cross Hall as “Hail to the Chief” played before Trump presided over a naturalization ceremony for new Americans.
Both events were taped in recent daysas Trump and his reelection campaign looked to find ways to airbrush the harsher edges of his actual policies.Hatch Act! Hatch Act! Hatch Act! <- What I am seeing from leftists.
It is a replay of 2016.
Democrats: “Fuck you, vote for us”
Trump: “I am going to make life better for all Americans”
Notice I said Trump, not Republicans.
Most Republicans were also saying “Fuck you, vote for us” in 2016. That’s why Trump caught them with their mouths open.
In darker news… the campaign ads have begun here in Ohio. Like four years ago, I’m tempted to pay extra for streaming services to dump the ads.
It doesn’t happen to specify what those harsher edges are, does it?
Nope, and they don’t expound on this either:
I knew that they would come after her, claws unsheathed. Never mind that she’s fluent in five languages. Nope. It’s all gonna be “The First Lady’s Speech Was Stilted and Weird and Here’s Five Reasons Why!”
Meh, they were positive about her speech over-all. (BTW what the hell happened to proofreaders)
It’s early in the day, Comrade. There will be many fresh takes.
Early on in Trump’s presidency, I saw quite a few TDSers arguing that the main reason she didn’t speak in public much was because Trump was physically abusing her. This led to her being withdrawn and introverted. Apparently the people who believed this were able to discern this from the look in her eyes and her body language in media photos that they perused online.
There is nothing crazier than a leftist single woman, especially the ones who are middle aged+ and single. My own mother went from being liberal but essentially not a political type in the Bush years to full on TDS, and yes she does repeat that whole MELANIA IS BEING ABUSED conspiracy theory. Along with every other conspiracy theory. Russians, post office, emoulments, Hatch Act, Logan Act, etc etc etc.
But she still thinks every single one of Bill Clinton’s accusers was lying.
Kittehs are naturally withdrawn and introverted.
Hence why I crossed it out. Seems irrelevant. But it does align with the Orange Man Bad narrative.
FFS ?
I am so glad my current company does not use SF. I hated it.
I’ve only worked tangentially with SF, and know it’s awful.
It’s perfect for know nothing central planners. Again, seemingly easy metrics to judge the sales force instead of, you know, sales.
SF is a pile of technical crap, but it is genius in marketing and sales.
1) You can start off with $0 or very little, so lots of depts use it like Access. Build something simple because the IT guys won’t support your needs. Slowly grows and grows.
2) That is when you find out that you really don’t own that data. Yes, there are ways to export it, but it will be super painful.
3) Why not upgrade and do more things with it? Look at all these cool demos!
4) Now that you’ve upgraded and noticed nothing cool happens, let us recommend a bunch of consultants who can come in and do all sorts of stuff for you.
They have build a platform that supports a swarm of remora like consultants who make good money off SF customizations. Those same consultants also play a big role in talking people into starting with #1 in the list above. First hit off the crack pipe is free.
When evaluating new ERPs for use I looked at Salesforce and my reaction was along the lines of “Why the fuck would anyone ever use this god-awful pile of shit?”
It’s mind-boggling.
The same reason you had that reaction is what hooked the management types that get bamboozeled by shiny things and dazzled by bullshit into thinking they can’t do without these kind of tools. Look at the totally wrong and misleading but oh-so-cool graphics! Ain’t that confusing pie chart that makes the exact opposite point of what is really going on great? Let’s make decisions of this dangerously wrong shit! What could fucking go wrong?
We just went through a review cycle and the Salesforce option was the best available for our needs.
let that sink in for a moment.
What needs would that be?
A shared excel sheet would be more functional.
A need to go out of business.
A shared excel sheet would be more functional.
Oh, we have plenty of those.
It’s an IP management system. Our current vender hasn’t improved much since 2004, so I was forced to learn how to use Report Builder to access their SQL Server 2008 instance. Even so, I’ve crashed the system so many times (trying to put together large reports) that I’ve lost count.
It was so bad that I spun up a postgres db on a VM so that I could siphon the data slowly (from report builder) and access it from a sane interface.
I remember looking into it for integration, and getting a glimpse into what the database must look like made my brain hurt. That was a while ago, maybe it’s improved? But probably not.
They did an update and the process of changing our on-call schedule went from mildly irritating to nigh impossible.
wow. Kenosha guy attempting murder got fucked up hard. He’ll never throw a 90 fast-bottle again. Poor soul, just think what might have been.
He actually got off light. Muscle tend to hear better than bone or internal organs. Imagine what that would have looked like hitting a bone in the shoulder or through the center of his sternum.
Notice on phone: Laura up to 115, landfall tomorrow.
I expect 120 to 150 by landfall but rapidly falling off after that. By the time it gets here she will be a tropical storm. I am hoping for rain and bearable wind.
Fingers and toes crossed for you.
I’ve been railing against adults about the kids since day one. They’re worst than pricks. They’re monsters and what they’ve done is CHILD ABUSE. Name me one thing Trump has done that amounts to a picture like that. But the sons of bitches entrusted with ‘the future’ are breaking their spirit and teaching them poor lessons.
My anger towards this knows no bounds. My wife is normally a chirpy happy go lucky teacher who LOVES to go to work. Yesterday she came back depressed. ‘It’s gonna be a shit show. They zapped the fun of what it is to teach and activities for the kids’. I told my wife, if that were me, I don’t know what I would do. I was a spazz. And my daughter, who is 15, is happy it’s not online for her because she admitted focusing was just too difficult. She realized how important it is to be sitting in a CLASS ROOM.
The same goes for colleges/universities. My nephew and niece aren’t happy at all with the set up. My nephew is a social butterfly and my niece an athlete who worked at the sports facility.
The so called leaders during this pandemic are incompetent, gutless assholes projecting their fears onto kids and they can go fuck themselves.
Follow science my ass.
The end.
Fun and happiness spread COVID. Do your part and be miserable / governor in his mansion
I would recommend every college student take this year off. Get a job at a grocery store or something. I know a lot of “gap year” activities aren’t available. Can’t really travel. But find something. Can you imagine the effect on universities if even 20% of students just didn’t go this year?
I think that’s already happening. But it will take more than a single year to bring it down.
My kids are in an engineering school, so there is both in-person and remote. They both are doing ok so far. My son got a TA job in the machine shop, so he’s pretty stoked. He needs that social interaction.
My daughter is in the dorm with an actual roommate, so we’ll see what happens.
It’s pretty fucked up, for sure.
I thought it’s never been a better time to travel. Cheap flights and empty airports.
I was tempted but figured, eh, let’s clear some debt overhang here.
I hear Kenosha is beautiful this time of year.
Unusually warm in the evenings though.
Sorry Rufus. I did sports in spite of my family. I can’t imagine how much worse it would be if the Government decided to shut it down. “Tag. You are it. Understood. Now you are the one that is it”.
Same here. All I thought about was sports and activities.
Next up. Articles saying, ‘Oops. Did we fuck the kids up?’ Where did we go wrong? Wha happened?
There’s a large age group where virtual learning is less than useless, it’s probably harmful and the kids would learn more playing Minecraft all day. I’d say under ten, especially for boys.
That’s just the learning though. Socializing is vital to all kids’ well being and most adults (except for all you misanthropes).
i’d guess k-8 is pretty much useless for the vast majority of kids. 9-12 is where that balance probably starts to tip back to it being better than nothing.
Covid cuts another life tragically short I assume:
Arnold Spielberg, father of Steven Spielberg, dead at 103
When did national obituaries for family of famous people become a thing??
I’m guessing as soon as their was national news coverage. Journos love them some famous people gossip.
That does it. Trump needs to be arrested NOW.
He hates (((them))))
Oh, Pam.
“If they want to make this election a choice between who’s been saving America and who’s been swindling America, bring it on,” Bondi said. “Joe says he will build back better… yeah, build the Bidens back better.”
The former Florida attorney general made the comments after delivering a searing indictment of the Biden family. Bondi, in particular, argued that former vice president’s children and siblings had a troubling history of profiting off business ventures tied to his political influence.
I’m still stewing over Biden’s obvious partnership with Tedros “Build Back Better” What’s-His-Name from the WHO. On the bright side, it might be his stupidest move yet.
It’s all coming together. Though it was painfully obvious from the outset that this was going to be pushed. Destroy the economy, then claim that since it was destroyed now is the ideal time to remake the world in our socialist image.
Bill Maher said it years ago. The only way to take out Trump was with a recession. Here we are.
Picking his stupidest move from the cascade of idiotic shit sounds like way too much work for me tastes. And do you credit SloJoe for the stupid shit, or his handlers. Puppets on stage have more freedom than this douche.
The handlers are straight up communists. How smart do you have to be to subscribe to communism? Of course they are going to fuck it up.
Supporters of communism tend to be cunning, not smart. They are predator/scavenger types. Like Hyenas and clotures, they feast on corpses of opportunists. Scum of the earth types.
So… off topic, remember Janus vs. AFSCME? Looks like that doesn’t help some public sector employees if there’s a state law mandating that the state can only negotiate with members of a union (the fact that such laws exist is a completely different argument).
Volokh has a good article on why this is probably the correct decision.
This piece?
Last night I caught part of the RNC convention. I like some of the stories. To say it was vastly superior in messaging than the DNC is an under statement. The RNC believes in America and believes in the people to continue to shape it the DNC doesn’t and wants to reinvent it in their image.
I had it on PBS Newshour and caught Julie Woodruff interviewing John Barrasso of Wyoming. No sooner did I settled on the channel within five seconds, she asked, ‘but will this President follow the science?’
They can’t help themselves. They just can’t stop shilling for the DNC asking idiotic loaded questions. What was the purpose of that question except to reinforce to the viewer the perception Trump doesn’t ‘follow the science’?
Then I wondered. What exactly has he said (the lysol thing doesn’t count because that was taken out of context) or done that was ‘anti-science’? Because he challenged Fauci?
I wonder. Was it when he advised Cuomo to lockdown but Cuomo ignored him? Of course, lockdowns aren’t backed by science but the point is the media came around to loving them. Or when he wanted to shut air space down but was derided by the media and DNC as a racist? Or when he suggested HCQ could be a treatment? Is it the weak science behind the mask mandates?
I’m funny how? I’m a clown. I’m here to amuse you?
How the fuck am I funny, Julie?
I was gone for a few days, what did I miss?
*peruses links*
Looks like things are getting worse…
Looks like things are getting worse… – spoken like a privileged cishet white male oppressor. Things can not get any worse for the pressed. Finlay whitey is feeling some well deserved pain and outrage ensues. You people make me sick. The nerve of you.
I guess it’s a matter of perspective. Some people like to watch things burn…
Also, can we pause for a seconds, and think what a miraculous shot it is to blast someone-who-is-attacking-you’s arm off? I mean that’s Movie level shit.
It was point blank with a rifle. I suspect it was more than just the bullet. Someone feel free to correct me.
I mean, i know he wasn’t aiming for it. Probably missed what he was aiming for (center mass), but for it to still hit the guys arm is pretty amazing.
I saw burn wounds that cauterized that arm. He would have bled out otherwise.
In one of the pics he has a tourniquet applied. One of these https://www.amazon.com/CAT-Combat-Application-Tourniquet-Time-Stamp/dp/B01ITAKG6A
So at least someone was thinking, if things go sideways, I don’t want to bleed out.
I basically always have one of those on my hip when I’m not at work.
Yeah, now that I have some basic making holes tools covered, I need to start thinking about preventing holes and plugging holes. and actual training with all of the above.
https://www.stopthebleed.org/
Maybe some muzzle blast, maybe not. 5.56mm can do a lot of that kind of tissue damage even a long way downrange. It’s usually understood in terms of hydrostatic shock effect.
In my reloading articles from the way back time I discuss that. Like a spinning top the bullet takes a bit too stabilize. If it strikes something before it stabilizes it is at a slight angle and will turn sideways inside the target dumping a lot more energy than if it hits straight nose-on. You are correct that at that range an awful lot of high pressure gas is going to follow the bullet into the target.
*Because those gasses follow the bullet into the bullet canal most people who shoot themselves in the head have their eyeballs popped out. The first thing the coroner does when he gets a suicide like that is to notice that. If the eyeballs arent out then the person was shot from not point blank and is a murder staged as a suicide.
*furiously takes notes*
And what Pine_Tree said. Over ~ 2500 fps there is a of hydrostatic shock. .223 loads are 3000fps to 3500fps. Most factory loads are around 3300fps.
The maroon grabbed the rifle barrel and pulled. He aimed the gun at himself while assaulting someone with the intent to murder. He is probably gonna lose that arm and spend quite a long time in prison. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
He is probably gonna lose that arm – neah medicine is advanced these days
spend quite a long time in prison – how can this be he is one of the good guys
Its fairly common. If you see a weapon being brandished toward you, your eyes – and thus your point of aim – will be drawn to it reflexively. Its the reason why off hand weapon drills are important.
Also, the gunman was almost hit in the head w/ a skateboard while on the ground, yet he still was able to fend off the “protesters” who had tried to surround him. What did those people think was going to happen trying to beat up a guy armed w/ an AR 15 who obviously knew how to use it? Play stupid games, you win stupid prizes folks
I’d say if he obviously knew how to use it he would have fired earlier in the encounter. Maybe he didn’t see the pistol until he was on the ground. I don’t know.
He was waiting for the last possible second, I would assume.
Which is more than a little dumb. If you’re running away, you’re triggering that chase instinct. People are pack hunters. I think if you do that, and you see a pistol, you stop and pop. What happens if he pulls up, shoots you somewhere debilitating, and then the other jackals pounce. It looks like they almost kicked the rifle out of his hands as it was.
He is extremely fortunate.
Yep. If that first guy had tackled him instead of just punching to the back of the head, it would have been over.
Saw a clip from some communist banter vlog/podcast. They were talking about how they shouldn’t be for prison abolition, because “What will we do with the cops after the coming revolution?” Give it to the commies, they never seem ashamed to openly admit that they are going to make political prisoners.
After seeing what happened in my hometown the last few nights, I figure it’s time I better arm myself and get some training in firearm use. Gonna buy a handgun today and sign up for CCW and another training class. I figured this day would eventually come, and now I feel like I better do some catching up.
I still have a lot of friends in Kenosha, including some who were part of the protection squads last night. Others stayed home, but were prepared. I think they have a lot of support from the local residents, and they will be back out there tonight. I don’t have high hopes that the fuckstick Governor Evers will do anything.
After I buy the handgun, I think I need to get a pump action shotgun. There’s lot of experts here, so any recommendations on a shotgun would be appreciated. In hindsight I wish I would have paid more attention to all the firearms threads on here.
Mossberg 500 or Remington 870. Cheap, ubiquitous, and forgiving to a novice. I own both and slightly prefer the mossberg because it’s better laid out for this southpaw.
That’s what I remember many of you saying before. Thanks. I was already looking at them.
So thanks to your last article, I stopped looking at buying a personal truck and spent $400 to fix up my rusty but reliable 98 Honda Civic. The rest of the money I save is going to pay off debt, and now some guns. Thanks for reminding me to stick to the debt payoff plan. I mostly drive one of my work trucks anyways.
The Mosberg, that i used to have before the tragic accident on the lake, I’ve liked. Came with two barrels you could switch out (18in and a longer one… 24 inch?). Can’t tell you about price as it was gifted to me.
Honestly, as a non American who wished it was doable to get some firepower, I don’t get Americans who don’t own guns. Besides the self defense factor, having them and shooting them is cool. It is like you people do it to spite us Europeans.
Off course were I living in the US, I think I would have fewer guns than I think I would have right now due to not wanting to spend the money, but at least 2 or 3 I would have.
A 12 gauge. A 22 rifle. A medium caliber pistol that is concealable. A centerfire rifle capable of taking deer.
That is 4 and would be everything you would need.
Of course after buying the first one….it’s like crack.
I am offended the you think I would shoot a a sweet, innocent, harmless, leaf-eating, doe-eyed little deer.Imagine you’re a deer. You’re prancing along, you get thirsty, you spot a little brook, you put your little deer lips down to the cool clear water… BAM! A fucking bullet rips off part of your head! Your brains are laying on the ground in little bloody pieces!
+1 yoots
Did you say ‘yoots’?
What’s a yoot?
Deer, otherwise known as antlered rats. Also, they aren’t so innocent and harmless when the stupid things cross the road in front of your car.
Imagine you’re a deer.
I saw the movie but never memorized the dialog.
What kind of libertarian are you anyway?
Typically, you aim for a double lung/heart shot, not head.
^^^^THIS^^^^
You aim? Time is of an essence, the deer will step off into the brush. Find him/her in the scope, close your eyes and yank the trigger.
Sure, if you have more than 4-5 seconds between seeing the critter and his disappearance, you can take the luxury of aiming.
As NA says, you hope/pray for that magic circle of vulnerability, sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes you start looking for blood. I’ve lost one deer over the past 35 years or so. I still feel bad about that. Shot a little too far back. Blood trail disappeared.
My Grandparents farm in Upper Michigan has a gravel pit on their property, so it’s basically a perfect firing range. Between all my Grandpa’s guns and my Uncle’s, I’ve got to shoot a lot of different firearms over the years. We’d have a shooting day once or twice a year. My uncle has an entire room stacked with empty milk jugs that we add dye to and use as targets. That’s about the only time I ever shoot though.
Yooper!
I’ll recommend the VR-80. It’s semiautomatic and magazine fed. I got mine in a few weeks ago and it’s been a blast to shoot.Easy to find 5rd mags and 9rd mags. Finally was able to grab a 19rd mag a couple days ago. It uses an AR platform so easy to modify even with what’s going on.
I’ll take a look at that too. Thanks.

I have no sense of the credibility of the reviewers, but there’s a lot of info there.
If I had to choose between the Remington 870 or a Mossberg 500 (or substitute Winchester 1200 for Mossberg 500) I would go with the Mossberg or Winchester. Some people do have problems with short stroking the Remington which can result in a malfunction that’s difficult to clear. Much less common with the other two.
There’s going to be some sticker shock. Depending on where you live, Many of the ubiquitous, must have guns are either completely out of stock, or so expensive it boggles the mind. Here are my recommendations…. for guns that are relatively affordable.
Handguns (my recommendations):
– All Metal:
CZ 75 variant, p01 and PCR compact being the best for concealment.
Beretta 92 variant (not the best for concealment but a fantastic gun)
Sig 229 (you’re best bet for these is to find a police trade in)
– Polymer:
Glock 19 ( if you can find it, these are selling for an ungodly 650+ dollars, and when they pop up for less than 600 they are sold within minutes)
CZ p07, cz p10c (a little easier to find and usually can be found for under $550)
HK VP9 (~$600-$700 but an all around better pistol than the glock with a better trigger and ergos)
Walther PPQ
.22 caliber: Taurus TX22
Turkish alternatives to the above:
– Metal:
Tri-Star (cz clones)
-Polymer
Canik TP9 variant (can be had for under $400, if you find one with a ONE designation, that means it only comes with ONE magazine)
Arex Delta (just bought one yesterday from BUD’S; very similar to the glock 19 except it’s in stock and less than $400)
Shotguns (my recommendations):
– Aluminum receiver:
Mossberg 88 (basically a 500 except can be had at walmart for ~$200). This would be my choice if I needed a pump shotgun immediately
Mossberg 500: If you’re lucky you might find one for $350 in today’s market
Mossberg 590a1: I haven’t seen these in stock online 3 times in the last six months and they have sold out in minutes, ~$500-1000k
– Steel receiver:
Remington 870: find one used, remington quality has really fallen off a cliff. These too, in basic form, can be found at any gun shop… anywhere… before covid.
Ithaca Model 37: These are some of the pest pump guns ever made and going up in price. Can be found on armslist and at pawn shops or used gun dealers.
Rifles (my recommendations):
– Bolt Action:
Savage: any really in your price range and caliber preference
Tikka T3(x): Same as above, though usually much higher in price
Mauser m18: eurooptic has a good deal on these… these are not the original mauser CRF actions, these are push feed actions and thus inexpensive. Mine shoots lights out.
Ruger m77: controlled round feed i believe, which is not needed but some find it to be superior. CRF is what the original mauser action was.
Browning: any if you can afford it
Bergara: any if you can afford it
Winchester model 70: I’d try and find a classic version built in Connecticut. Will be expensive. Very nice rifle.
– Semi Auto:
To buy:
Ruger mini 14: .223 cal.
Ruger AR15
Sig AR
To build:
Aero Precision
BCM
-Lever Action:
Marlin 30/30: If you can find one that wasn’t built by Remington, that’s what I would get. Just a great all around rifle and the only lever action I’d bother buying that was a curio piece.
Hope this helps.
The city is on fire we don’t need no water let the … etc …
I say burn it all to the ground for Justice.
Also at least when you Americans shoot people get hit. A couple of years ago there was a news item about a gang fight in Russia when 30 people shot with AK47s at each other for 30 minutes and no one was wounded. In Romania we had two gangs of like 15 each with crowbars and axes fight and not one person died and no none required hospital care. What is the point of ax fights if no one gets seriously hurt?>
We aim.
axe fights goddamnit
The Romanian gangs should send their members to Kashmir for training.
Got to burn it down so you can build it back better.
That should be a Trump Campaign Ad.
What is the point of ax fights if no one gets seriously hurt?
It’s the only way that a Buddhist Palm master can find out what his true abilities are.
I’ve shot a few AKs – not a surprising outcome. Heh.
This man speaks truth.
One of the more famous gunfights in American history was the dust-up at the OK Corral in Tombstone, AZ, on Oct 26, 1881. The fight lasted about 30 seconds. On one side were the “law,” consisting of Marshal Virgil Earp, his brothers Virgil and Wyatt and ally Johm H. “Doc” Holliday. On the other were the “Cowboys,” consisting of Billy Claiborne, Ike and Billy Clanton, and Tom and Frank McLaury.
After 30 seconds of gunfire, Virgil and Morgan Earp were wounded, while “Doc” was grazed. Tom and Frank McLaury were killed and Billy Clanton was killed. Accounts I’ve read indicate that over 100 shots were exchanged, and hostilities were initiated within 10 yards’ range.
So, not the greatest marksmanship ever, but not atypical of the time.
“So anyway, I started Blastin”
“I’m your huckleberry.”
Johnny Ringo : My fight’s not with you, Holliday.
Doc Holliday : I beg to differ, sir. We started a game we never got to finish. “Play for Blood,” remember?
Johnny Ringo : Oh that. I was just foolin’ about.
Doc Holliday : I wasn’t.
A few years back, I saw a clip of the actual shoot out on YouTube. I can’t find it anymore.
It must have taken a long time to upload in 1881. And I’ll bet it wasn’t in HD.
And them gunfighters musta been awful gracious to wait for the cumbersome film cameras to set up before they started their fight, since motion pictures wouldn’t exist for another 10 years.
Isn’t the average Gunfight about 3 seconds? I think the average sword duel was only 5 seconds.
I think the average sword duel was only 5 seconds. – nonsense. a good duel last at least 10% of total movie runtime
Yes, but it’s just the same 5 seconds from 100 different angles, jump cut and spliced together.
Obligatory
Has to include hand-switching and lots of witty banter.
Only for the most epic of duels
I’m not left-handed either.
“I am Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”
Single action revolvers with bad sights, big clouds of gun smoke. Plus I believe a black powder .45 Colt has a sub 300 foot pound muzzle energy, and that’s assuming QC at the factory or the handload was quality. That same gunfight but with everybody carrying Glock 19s would probably go a lot differently.
Get yourself a Glock and lose that nickel plated sissy pistol.
Some years back the Oregonian did an investigative report on Portland PD shootings. The average number of rounds fired was pretty appalling – considering the results. Seems the PD had adopted spray and pray with their Glocks as opposed to more measured/aimed fire with the old revolvers.
Starbucks Cafe’s Covid Outbreak Spared Employees Who Wore Masks
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-08-25/this-starbucks-in-south-korea-became-a-beacon-for-mask-wearing?sref=M5yhqEtt
Officials assume that most patrons didn’t consistently wear masks as they were drinking and eating while in the Starbucks Corp. outlet in South Korea, according to Gang Young-do, a spokesperson for the Paju government. A ceiling-mounted air-conditioning was helping to cool the second-floor outlet, he said.
That article literally said nothing. No details. Not even the type of masks.
In any event. I’d love to see, you know, a larger data sample size other than one Starbucks.
Bloomberg claims ‘misinformation’ about masks but then proceeds to write a piece of propaganda without a shred of evidence.
Meet a health expert who is pimping ‘Zero-Covid’. Something tells me the name Desi Shridar is gonna get some 15 minutes of fame.
What an incoherent and contradictory mess she presents. She’s the Robin Di Angelo of public health.
I have no idea how she plans to achieve zero covid cases without locking down (which she claims she’s against). She seems to think testing and tracing will do the trick but is not considering the potential bad trade-offs in that.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9D8qmGjki8&t=609s
It’s working so well for Australia.
How covid has become on par with Small-Pox in the public mind, i don’t know.
Continuous media – mass and social. Something has to keep pouring into the empty minds of the masses.
Even with locking down. It is a contagious respiratory virus wich has infected millions on each continent except Australia and Antarctica. There is no stopping it anymore. Period. Not with masks not with lockdown not with vaccines.

As a culture, we do not honor people’s feelings or lived experiences.
Correct. Because those things don’t matter.

You know what ‘triggers’ me? People who complain about being triggered. Respect my lived experience you fucking Nazi!
I thought periods were out? That is full of periods.
My daughter struggled with virtual school last semester but since their grades couldn’t go down, she phoned it in as did everyone else including (I presume) the teachers. But that was right as she was starting off with her job at Walmart and now that she’s more comfortable with her job and likes it, has a good schedule, she doesn’t SEEM to mind that she will only be going to school in person for two days a week.
We’ve opted for our son to have all-virtual school. He doesn’t like it, but we feel that’s best for the time being. He can be trusted to do the work and get decent grades without direction, so long as he doesn’t hate it (*koff art koff*).
Grades in Art? I seem to remember it being Pass/Fail at my high school, but that was quite a while ago, so I may not be remembering it correctly.
My daughter struggled with virtual school last semester but since their grades couldn’t go down, she phoned it in – at this rate she will never get in Sarah Lawrence or Vassar or Oberlin or something like that
Homeschooling done right.
Somewhere deep down inside me, I larfed.
That first link… I knew they were playing basketball, but I had no idea they were already in the playoffs. Sitting out and forfeiting a playoff game is such obvious attention seeking behavior. They must have realized that nobody gives a shit about them so they’re getting desperate
You know what is infuriating, is that the 2 dead murderous jackasses are going to be added to the count of “people killed with guns” that the Dems fling about as they try to attempt Gun Control.
Not if they posthumously test positive for covid!
I had assumed that Blake had been killed when he was shot by police. This was the first article I read that mentioned he is recovering in the hospital. I hope he makes a full recovery.
Reportedly paralyzed from the waist down.
So he won’t be raping any more women
wait… What?
Sexually assaulting. https://www.breitbart.com/crime/2020/08/24/man-shot-by-police-in-kenosha-was-wanted-for-sexual-assault/
Huh, i hadn’t seen that.
“We cannot allow the cycle of systemic racism and injustice to continue. We also cannot continue going down this path of damage and destruction.”
Wink wink nudge nudge.
Like being a non-drinker, it must be wretched being a Tory. In both cases, when you wake in the morning, that’s the best you’re going to feel all day.
Ed West’s Small Men on the Wrong Side of History: The Decline, Fall, and Unlikely Return of Conservatism is not quite a eulogy for conservatism, but it is a coronial inquiry of sorts, a compelling memoir—at once pessimistic and amusing—of what it’s like to spend most of one’s life in an intellectual minority. It’s a reminder that endless battles where one is continually outnumbered are often as good as it gets. It’s also downbeat about conservatism’s prospects in modern Britain, which, given the Tories have just won a landslide election victory and coronavirus has failed to dent Boris Johnson in the polls, may be premature.
https://lawliberty.org/book-review/of-conservatism-and-salesmanship/
That got a smile out of me.
Boris Johnson is not exactly conservative though
SJWednesday: People Die, But Real Racism Is Forever
Huh, we were in NO in January. Did an evening “Haunted New Orelans” tour in the FQ. Our guide was very specific about the abuses visited upon servants & slaves in the LaLaurie Mansion
Disregard any claims made by tour guides that Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shoppe is the oldest bar in the USA. It’s not even the oldest bar in the French Quarter.
Every race/color/creed has been enslaved by every race/color/creed at some point all through human history and you can’t change that. Get the fuck over it.
Okay, start from the premise that you believe in ghosts and that these slave ghosts are being exploited. How do you fix that? Burn down all the haunted houses? Where are the ghosts supposed to live then?
How is it that the GOP convention was hosting this, while the DNC was shouting rah rah forever war! ?
The parties switched sides!
BLM protesters and locals exchanged gunfire near me the other night. As Sean can tell you Bedford County PA is very very very rural. Im waiting for more details to emerge at this point though. According to locals, it sounds like the marchers were trying to camp out on private ground despite being told to leave, but IDK. Will wait for more information.
https://money.yahoo.com/black-lives-matter-protester-shot-222528868.html
Can confirm.
These agitators are getting the attention they’ve been looking for.
That’s a lot of cars in that video.
This shit is showing me the absolutely vital importance of video. You don’t want the only video of the encounter to be from the “activists”.
Looks like you can get a Contour Roam mounted to your AR for less than 300 bucks all in. I’d strongly consider that, plus a red dot, a laser, and a damn good light as necessary mounts.
Just spitballing here, but wouldn’t you want a video recorder attached to your head instead of your weapon? If the weapon is pointed in a safe direction for the majority of the time, the video would not provide as much context as your field of vision.
Say what you will of the current events in the US of A, I don’t think they will help the cause of cheap ammo
No. I’m going to swing by my local death merchant today but my hopes are not high.
My 2K rounds of 9mm arrived yesterday. I have 400 rounds of 7.62 Nato coming in another week or so.
I watched a little of the convention last night. I tuned in to see Rand Paul, who did a good job but used the word “generation” too much. I like that he said he disagreed with Trump sometimes but still thought he was a good president.
After that was a segment about a program for transitioning people from jail into society. Trump went to the graduation ceremony, and was supposed to be there for 5 minutes but stayed for 90. I kept thinking that he probably does stuff like that all the time, but you’ll never hear a word about it on the news.
They were hammering home the riots and defunding police, which I think is a great move. That’s going to hit home.
Dave Smith mentioned that (in his opinion) anyone who wants to be in American politics needs to address the lockdowns and the riots. The Dems did neither. They really want to show how out of touch they are.
The Dems have something of a problem when it comes to the riots. On the one hand, they’ve been moderately supportive of it. OTOH, they nominated two Law & Order thugs. It’s parallel to the Rs in 2012 when Obamacare was a big issue and they nominated Romney.
TOS has been hammering Biden’s record on crime. Here’s a good vid: https://reason.com/video/joe-bidens-bold-thinking-shredded-civil-liberties-and-destroyed-lives/
When TOS is hitting harder on both major party candidates than the actual LP candidates, maybe you shouldn’t be the LP Nominee.
Maybe Trump should emphasize that kind of “stuff” when he tweets?
Trump doesn’t Tweet, The Hat does.
My coworker who’s not political had no idea that Trump had been donating his salary. She went home to her husband and told him that, and he goes “Uh yeah, hes been doing it all along.” So she comes back the next day and says “My husband knew that already, where do you guys find this stuff out. Because they don’t talk about it at all on the news.”
No, they sure don’t.
As I have told leftists I know, you have to diversify your media intake. That might mean venturing to *gasp* Breitbart or something.
Also I have heard the leftists that do know about that argue that it is wrong/illegal somehow*. TDS is a hell of a drug.
*You could criticize what charities he is funding with it, but no one seems to do that.
The FACT CHECK on “Trump donates his salary to military cemeteries” was
FALSE: Trump does donate his salary, but all he can do is choose what department the money goes to, he can’t specifically send it to military cemeteries.
So in Minor League American Politics, i saw that Justin Trudeau Dismissed parliament because he was being investigated for corruption. Haven’t kings been beheaded for doing that?
indeed, Charles Stuart (that man of blood) fucked around with proroguement and found out
If anyone has a right to be concerned…
Steve Scalise
@SteveScalise
Police cars revolving light Disgusting: Nancy Pelosi just called Republicans “domestic enemies.”
I was shot because of this kind of unhinged rhetoric.
Where’s the media outrage?
I had literally never heard of Kenosha other than hearing it mentioned on “That 70’s Show”. It sounds like the most Wisconsin place ever.
What I find so surprising is how fast the organized left (Antifa / BLM – same thing) ginned up the riot and destroyed the place. I literally heard the news of the police shooting and the riot simultaneously. It obviously wasn’t spontaneous, all the usual Antifa elements were there including their fake “medics”. It was just blindingly fast. The next place could be any small city – Worcester, MA, Morristown, NJ, Bethlehem, PA… That’s the message – nobody is safe.
This is a serious and very well funded criminal organization. If Trump wins, he is going to have to exert a major effort to destroy it – and the people who created it.
Madison WI is only about 90 minutes away by car.
No shortage of college age idiots who love Marx there.
And Chicago is even closer than that. Only 67 miles away. There’s a commuter train that runs from Kenosha to Chicago.
I don’t think that would be a wise choice for the rioters.
Was Kenosha? It almost doesn’t matter. I don’t know what kind of Mayor they have, but you’ve got a college there and liberal governor who wouldn’t lift a finger for a few days.
When a city is under siege by rioters and the police are doing nothing – you don’t even get two guesses as to which party is in charge there.
Laramie, Wyoming!
I wouldn’t call it the most Wisconsin place ever. I’m impartial, but that SE corridor is quite different than the little towns and cities that make up the bulk of the state.
*not impartial.
Do they also do meat raffles? One of the things about Minnesoda that caught me by surprise was them meat raffles. Seeing I am out there again, I need to find me one of these special events.
Yes, we have meat raffles, and hotdish, but we also have casserole unlike those unwashed heathons.
Are casseroles the deep dish pizzas Sloop was dissing the other day?
No, DDP is made in a steel pan, casseroles are made in corningware.
When I read “Kenosha” it’s pronounced in my head with a really thick grating WI accent.
I always think of it as the home of the Pacer.
Yeah, you carve the Milwaukee area and Madison out of Wisconsin and it goes from purple to deep red with a few light blue counties.
This was definitely well organized and coordinated. On Monday afternoon there were over 100 vehicles in a pack on I-94 going south from Milwaukee to Kenosha, about 30 miles. They took up two of the three lanes on the interstate, all driving with their hazards on and all the license plates covered up. They exited at the county line and joined up with about another 100 cars from who knows where (probably Chicago, about 50 miles south) and drove in a caravan to downtown. I know the first night at least two were arrested for arson, one from Indiana and one from Florida.
Those groups have been active in both bigger cities, so easy to make the trip to Kenosha.
Like straff said below, the city of Kenosha is not the stereotypical WI city. It’s basically a distant suburb of Milwaukee and Chicago. The biggest employer in the city is actually Abbott Labs in Illinois. When I grew up there, it had lots more manufacturing with AMC (later Chrysler) as the biggest employer.
Is there pics or video of these convoys?
Friends had video of it posted on Facebook. The police scanner also reported it. I’ll see if I can go back and find the links.
First part is from the Racine County Police Scanner at 6:18 PM. The posts are delayed so updates probably start around 5 or 5:30.
RCSO/MPPD
I-94 SB
100 cars driving slow with their hazards on and their plates covered
Update – Vehicles now exited on Hwy 20
Update 2 – Vehicles are now Going SB on Hwy 31 from Hwy 20
Update 3 – 100 Cars are in this group
Update 4 – The group are now passing Hwy KR on Hwy 31 – Group is now up to around 200 cars
**Hwy 20 is roughly 10 miles north KR, which is the Kenosha County Line with Racine County. Hwy 31 is a major north-south corridor on the western edge of the city of Kenosha.
Here’s the relevant part of the Kenosha County Scanner
***1846 – estimated 200 vehicles SB on Green Bay heading to Kenosha w/blacked out plates crossing Hwy KR
***1850 – Large crowd leaving Civic Park NB Sheridan
***1900 – large vehicle caravan in city on 22nd
22nd Street is one of the main north – south roads through downtown and where a lot of the arson happened Monday night.
So obviously the police knew they were heading into town and did nothing about it.
Sorry I can’t find any video. The video I seen on Facebook was only about 1 minute long. The person was filming in the right lane as they were driving alongside the caravan, who took up the center and left lanes. They appeared to only be going around 45 mph with hazards on. I’m guessing the person deleted the video out of fear, or Facebook removed it.
They took up two of the three lanes on the interstate, all driving with their hazards on and all the license plates covered up.
Why weren’t they pulled over and cited?
Why can’t I shake the feeling that an awful lot of people in state government are perfectly OK with, if not actively supporting, these riots?
K, so i was finally able to watch the clip of the guy getting shot. Damn son. Those Antifa fucks seem like real smoothbrains. I would not run up to attack a guy holding a gun, and definately not after he had gotten the first shot off.
Does it matter what the video shows? Everybody makes up their minds within seconds of seeing all these videos. It’s one of the most insane phenomenons I’ve ever seen. It’s like seeing the Zapruder film and deciding the moon landing was fake.
It’s entirely a shitshow.
Yeah. We are past the point of shared understanding in the country. As Robby the Fire said: We’re at the point where this seems like it can only escalate.
They appear to have no real conception of the physical danger they put themselves in. I’m not sure if that makes them more or less dangerous.
One of the African tribes the Brits had a splendid little war with thought they had some incantation that would make them impervious to rifle fire. Turns out a 480 grain bullet moving at ,350 ft/s trumps magic.

NPR is on the case
Stuart Stevens, a former top presidential campaign strategist to GOP nominees George W. Bush and Mitt Romney, is one of them. Now he’s working to defeat Trump by joining a group known as The Lincoln Project, which frequently produces viral ads attacking Trump.
Stevens doesn’t hesitate to call Trump racist, and in an interview on Fresh Air earlier this month, he said the current campaign reflects that. Looking ahead to the final months before Election Day, he said of the president: “It’s going to be a racial grievance campaign unlike we have ever seen on the national stage.”
We already know that. What are the Republicans going to be doing?
That really tells you all you need to know about Bush and Romney.
Bella Thorne Breaks OnlyFans Record by Earning $1 Million in 24 Hours

Amazing what you can earn with herpes and a camcorder.
She’s another one of the Disney girls that was clearly being abused by someone in the business.
As for the Republican Party, Stevens said he’s “extraordinarily negative on the prospects of the party.” Democrats overwhelmingly win the votes of African American and Latino voters, and now younger voters. Stevens says with the country becoming more diverse demographically, that’s a crisis for the GOP.
“And what does that mean for the Republican Party?” he asked. “It’s a stage 4 cancer warning and the party gives no reason that it’s going to change.”
Instead, Stevens said, Trump is actively driving those voters away.
I’m sure that’s what the political landscape inside your ass looks like, but I’m not convinced that’s true out here.
So…don’t be white? It almost sounds like the Dems are embracing “diversity” so hard that they are accidentally or deliberately excluding white people over 35.
Next time I hear someone say “diversity is out strength” I am going to show clips of the rioters and their signs and chants.
Younger voters stop being proggies when they grow up and realize that “The rich” that will “pay their fair share” actually means “homeowners” and “people who make the median income”.
Oh, and the demographic doom hypothesis rests on three assumptions:
1. That all white people reproduce at the same rate. Chelsea Clinton has 3 kids and is 40. Bristol Palin has 3 at 30, Track Palin has at 31, Willow Palin has 2 at 26, and Piper Palin is 19 years old. Parental political affiliation strongly correlates with their childrens.
2. That amnesty is a foregone conclusion. Now, granted, it will happen the next time the Dems have the power to do it, and/or if Jared Kushner catches Trump in a good mood. But they absolutely need those 20 million poor Latin American immigrants to be legalized in one fell swoop so they can flip over Texas.
3. That Latinos go Dem 2 out of 3 times because they love the Dems, and not because of economic reasons. Yeah your mom the Vegas casino unionized maid might be a staunch Dem, but if her son gets a scholarship and studies petroleum engineering, hes probably not gonna vote Democrat.
Way to many people that resent the fact they have to work hard to get the same standard of living their parents managed to achieve after decades of work, when all they want to do is play video games and eat/drink junk food in mommas basement, and feel that system is not fair to them. These are the idiots that think Marxist rulership will strip their old geezer parents to give them free shit. Cause that’s social justice in a nutshell.
It’s been a revolving theme since the 30’s. People reach their 20’s and realize they have to pay taxes, then they realize they got stuck with government debt their parents ran up and they resent it. Their solution is… to do the same thing their parents did only borrow more and work less, and find sucker immigrants to do the work they don’t want to do anymore. Then their children hit their 20’s and start the same cycle over again. The problem compounds itself as people spend more years in school and join the workforce for the first time at progressively older ages. Any individual that tries to break out of that cycle is labeled a heretic. (Hilary’s “deplorables”, for example.)
I probably should have chosen a decade or two before the creation of the Federal Reserve Bank as the beginning of the cycle.
It’s not hard to imagine a scenario if the Dems lose the election they go in the wilderness of soul searching for a number of years. Their entire leadership caste is over 70.
Imagine, yes. Expect, no.
I’ve been saying for a while now that the Democrats are actually in the position of being the conservative party from a policy sense. Their goals are really to conserve the New Deal (80 years old) and the Great Society (50+.) They are seeking to preserve and protect the institutions of 20th century democratic governance: big well staffed and paid government departments, big and expensive public school systems, and public universities. Giant complex taxation schemes and regulatory processes. Dinosaur institutions like NATO and the WTO and the UN.
I think things like redistribution are here to stay. But I think the Republican Party, if they are willing to do it, can take the giant step of arguing to the people that bureaucrats and administrators are a giant dead weight, and that a 21st century model of welfare is about firing bureaucrats and giving our poorest citizens direct financial benefits. Things like “fund students, not systems” are going to resonate if they are willing to jump into that kind of dynamic reformist approach.
I thought this shit was the Bee, but it was for real. These people are fucking shameless.

Those fucking Glibs, they really are shameless!
You’re accusing us of being the Bee?
I mean, they don’t even have their own cartoon series.
Their twitter feed was fun to watch when the Twatter police was not censoring them for exposing the stupidity and criminality of the credentialed political class.
At least three people were shot during the protests overnight in Kenosha, some 40 miles south of Milwaukee, and two of the victims died from their injuries, according to the Kenosha Police Department. The third gunshot victim was taken to a hospital with “serious, but non-life-threatening injuries,” police said.
Apropos.
It sure will have that result whether they intended for it or not.
In re: J. Fallwell Jr.:
Who.
The Fuck.
Cares?
Seriously, the era of the televangelists died decades ago, and one of their kids’ antics is chosen to be national news for days at a time? This should be exhibit A in “the people who decide what the news is are mendacious fucks.”
I’ve gotten a chuckle out of it because of the hypocrisy. Just like that extreme gun grabbing politician in California who was arrested a few years back on charges of gun smuggling.
My wife’s cousins went to Liberty University and that place might as well be under Sharia Law. They were harassed and their behavior/actions monitored at all times, both on and off campus. What’s good for the goose is good for Falwell who put those restrictions on Liberty students.
Falwell is a grade A asshole. I have no sympathy for him at all.
At least his father appeared to walk the walk, even if I did loathe him as well.
I worked in the restaurant of Oral Robert’s hotel (across from ORU, kitty-cornered from City of Faith hospital (which he also owned)) back when televangelists were a thing.
But now they’re not.
I’m sure some descendant of a formerly famous person is out there with a ABDL fetish, but the idea that it’s more newsworthy than, say, the ID of the shooters at the Twin Peaks biker massacre or the Vegas shooting…
A very magical place.
Yeah I spent a week at Liberty at a summer camp once in high school. Had a nice chat with a dude who was a student, we talked about a lot of different stuff, but at one point we got on to biology and the dude was an actual in the flesh young earth creationist. /As in “the Earth is 6000 years old. God put the fossils in the strata like raisins in a cake to test our faith.” But on economics, he was a Ron Paul guy.
I’m with you, @NotAdahn. Seems the relationship was consensual and this is a married couple who’s all in together.
It isn’t the wife coming forward to claim abuse.
PA legislature against tries to end Gauleiter Wolf’s destruction of the state
Lyndsay Kensinger, a spokesperson for Wolf, said the proposal “isn’t based in reality.”
“It’s just another attempt by the Republicans in the legislature to deflect from the fact that they have no real interest in helping Pennsylvanians,” she said.
Go fuck yourself.
Statements like that sure promote “unity.”
You’re desires for a representative republican form of government are not based in reality. At least he’s hones.t
Guilfoyle Challenge
Kimberly Guilfoyle set the internet aflame after her extremely loud speech at the Republican National Convention. She screeched and flailed her arms over what would have been good content, but which was mostly lost under a jarring presentation. Let’s give her credit for launching some great laughs, though. All press is good press, so if you’ve made the world laugh, you’ve at least put the spotlight on the RNC, which has definitely been more exciting than the Democrat snooze-telethon to raise awareness about Trump Derangement Syndrome that we watched last week.
So what is the average shelf life of bullets? If you buy a bunch, will they be good 10 years? 20? Kept in good conditions if such things matter
Yes. Your can go on youtube and watch videos of people firing cartridges that are decades old.
well yes but like MREs decades old, they may still be somewhat consumable but are they reliable?
Unless you abused them (exposing them to extreme conditions that would degrade them) ammunition lasts a very long time. Keep them dry and at a steady temp that is not too hot, and you should be fine.
Pretty damn long. People are still cracking open the tuna-can ammo the red army made to fight WWII.
I have 8×57 surplus nazi rounds manufactured in 1943. They shoot like they were made yesterday.
Corrosive primer?
I never fired any rounds with corrosive primers. Any cleaning techniques for the after part?
I’ve heard some folks say Hoppe’s #9 is just fine with corrosive ammunition.
I’ve used glass cleaner with ammonia.
Glass cleaner with ammonia followed by regular bore cleaner.
The ammonia/glass cleaner neutralizes the salts.
If you can find old-school GI bore cleaner, that works too, it was designed for corrosive primers.
Thx!
The biggest factor is how was the ammunition stored? I’ve fired surplus ammunition from the 70s without a problem. You can find accounts of people shooting older ammunition.
I’ve heard that another factor is the primer. I’ve heard corrosive primers tend to degrade less over time than non-corrosive primers. I haven’t seen any explanation of why that is, so I don’t put a lot of stock in it.
“It’s just another attempt by the Republicans in the legislature to deflect from the fact that they have no real interest in helping Pennsylvanians,” she said.
“Free the slaves? They’re too stupid and helpless to survive on their own. They’d all just starve to death. It’s better for them to be kept under our control.”
I made dinner. I think salmon is one of those things I can eat 3 times a week and not get bored. I need to find a good source of wild stuff though not this Norwegian farm raise .
Is Alaska wild salmon relatively pollution safe? Or is Siberian one better?
Dinner

Nice
Does it really matter how much pollution is in your fish, since we are all going to die soon with the end of net neutrality?
I’d guess Alaskan and Siberian Salmon differ by less than 50 miles, not sure how ‘pollution’ plays in either, seeing as how there ain’t many people up there.
Who caught it? That will tell you about the quality. Beware the ChiComm shit…
Step son made Alaskan wild for Mrs. Suthenboy and I last week. Freakin’ delicious.
What kind of pollution? Given the Ruskies record on environmental practices I would guess the Alaskan is safer.
Fish pollution usually are heavy metals. I dont think the Ruskies take a lot of care in disposing of. mine tailings. They probably just dump it in the nearest river.
Larger fish are going to have more bioaccumulation of nasties.
Wild Alaskan, though, is probably safe enough. And way better than the soy-stuffed farm shit.
I prefer the smaller fish, mackerel, sardines, anchovies, etc. But I eat quite a lot as well, so I do want to avoid as much mercury as I can.
Gun opinion:
I got to play around a little bit with a 92 LTT Elite.
I was not impressed.
My comparison piece was my M9 that I put the LTT trigger-job-in-a-bag into it myself. The from the shop gun has — maybe — a better SA pull, but the DA pull was actually worse than mine.
Considering that the total cost for my gun + mods is less than half of the cost of the elite, I am disappoint.
Did you shoot a few looters or basic bitch inanimate targets ?
My local club is proud of the fact that nobody has been shot there in 74 years.
Just received my final phase 3 covid trial vaccination. Trial looking promising and 100% antibodies produced in all vaccine recipients.

i can confirm this is not the case.
So I guess I might have to tell my friend it really is a case of whiskey dick…
More info on the shooter:

They’re going to arrest and charge the guy looks like. If you burn down someone’s business or home you’re golden, if you defend your business or home or yourself they come for you. What an incredibly dangerous and stupid game they’ve decided to play.
While I personally believe a person should be able to defend their business with deadly force, the law does not. So if that’s what he did, yes he’s going to jail.
Arson is still a forcible felony, and i think blowing away someone in the act of throwing a molotov is justified. (yes i know that isn’t what happened here). Self Defense (which is what is being questioned here) is certainly a right, and when you have a mob of people getting ready to beat the shit out of you on the ground i think you have a valid claim to use lethal force.
But yes, most jurisdictions won’t let you use lethal force to defend property.
I mean you can try and make that argument but I’m sure you realize how tough that’s gonna be.
Any time you get in that situation is going to be sticky. Don’t talk to cops without your lawyer. But in non shithole states, you are allowed to use force to protect yourself. Arson is a violent attack, and i would rather take my luck that i can convince 12 random people that the arsonist got what was coming to them.
Well the law is an ass then. I wouldn’t convict him.
It’s easy to project what you want to see on video, but it’s value is only what can be clearly seen.
when you have a mob of people getting ready to beat the shit out of you on the ground i think you have a valid claim to use lethal force.
How this can be the least bit controversial, I have no idea.
A line was crossed last night in Kenosha (I think; this isn’t the first time that an antifa goon got blown away, but I think its only the second or third time). With multiple shootings and fatalities at a riot, it will be very interesting to see what happens tonight. Does either side (or maybe even both sides) back down, or does this escalate from here? Antifa has gotten pretty bold about being armed at riots, do they gun up and bus in reinforcements? How about the locals? Do they turn out in force again?
Or, Allah forbid, does that weak-kneed squish of a Governor drop teh hammer on this nonsense with a large and armed National Guard presence? If the Guard shows up, I think the locals mostly stay home. If the Governor leaves the locals undefended, then I hope they turn out.
At what point do they turn from protecting their city to blaming the people who left them undefended? At what point are they in the right to march on Madison?
I would have said in March, but then it was all only going to be for two weeks…Oh, you mean the idiots…
I would say if Evers orders the Guard to stand down again tonight, tomorrow would be a good day to march on Madison.
Never underestimate the ability of zealots to suspend the basic trait of life: self preservation.
Yes, arson is the only property crime for which NYS authorizes deadly force to stop it.
Because arson poses a high risk of killing or severely injuring someone. Its basically the equivalent of putting on a blindfold and shooting down the street. Damn right lethal self-defense is justified.
IMO, anyone using a laser or with a lit molotov is fair game for shooting.
Someone carrying a laser or an unlit molotov during a riot, closer call.
Neither a commercial argon laser or a molotov coctails have any legitimate purpose on the street.
One can assume intent to cause harm for anyone carrying.
While I personally believe a person should be able to defend their business with deadly force, the law does not.
It’s a little more grey than that. The law doesn’t allow you use lethal force to to shoot someone in the back who’s running off with your tv. A mob advancing on you is a whole different scenario and it doesn’t matter your reasons for being on your own property.
That’s for in a sane area. Who the fuck knows though in Commieland where you have a duty to retreat so presumably you would be required to leave your property at any time for any reason if someone wanted in.
It certainly is dangerous, but we’ll see how stupid (from their perspective) it is. People in general will fold before threats of violence. Guess we’re gonna find out how much of the “FUCK YOU!” spirit remains in the good ol’ USA.
The state gov. really only provides two basic services that everyone encounters on a near daily basis protection from the mob and public schooling. Most state’s have abdicated both responsibilities totally and utterly. I don’t know if any amount of brainwashing is going to put that genie back in the bottle for many people after this.
Just. Make. It. Stop. I honestly don’t know how many people fall for that shit. It’s a cowardly, temporary solution that is guaranteed to backfire. IOW, I can see a number of people taking that route.
jury of your peers.
Fuck that noise. Who initiated this? The scum who tried to destroy the business, plain and simple. They wanted a confrontation? Well, they got it.
That little vignette elicited a hearty laugh.
Thx
The potential social justice value of the destruction of the Mama Safia Somali café across the street is hard to tease out.
This is a pretty good read, especially for us MN glibs
Pretty good?
It makes me want to put the house on the market today.
Good as in worthy of your time and attention, no good as in feels good.
But don’t sell your house. We don’t back down from tyranny. We fight it. In this case by educating the next generation on the subversive topics of non-violence, respect for life & liberty, and civic pluralism.
It’s going to be a good case study in governance some day. We’ve always been a really blue state, but never a shithole. We’ve managed to torpedo even that.
The articles are starting to be written about the effect of the lockdown on the economy, explaining this will be a recession on par with 2008-09. They are rage inducing. This will be worse and they know it we had peaked at over 15% unemployment in this country for over a month, we aren’t going back to school in person till next year in a ton of places, evictions and power shutoffs still haven’t occurred yet. The scale of the damage is immense. the West coast and NE corridors economies have been completely and utterly nuked to great depression levels from orbit and still aren’t opened yet.
I’m very very very pissed off by this. very.
I wonder how nobody predicted this four months ago.
The shooting of Jacob Blake
https://madison365.com/kenohsa-police-opened-fire-less-than-5-minutes-after-being-called-scanner-audio/
“According to the audio obtained by Madison365, someone called police to report that Blake was at her home and wasn’t supposed to be, and that he had taken her keys and was refusing to give them back. A dispatcher relayed this message to patrol officers at about 5:11 pm Sunday.”
So….he wasn’t just an innocent father breaking up a fight?
He was also holding a knife from what I saw which might be why the cops didn’t wrestle him to the ground instead of letting him make it to the car. They chose a real piece of work as the touch point for this riot.
If you’re talking about the ‘second angle’ video, the quality of the version I saw was too poor to determine what as happening.
You’re right, I saw a still from that vid which looked like a knife but it was kind of hard to tell.
Isn’t that always the case?
They chose a real piece of work as the touch point for this riot.
Which seems to be the rule, not the exception.
In all honesty it looked like a classic case of suicide by cop.
They’re going to arrest and charge the guy looks like. If you burn down someone’s business or home you’re golden, if you defend your business or home or yourself they come for you. What an incredibly dangerous and stupid game they’ve decided to play.
I know next to nothing about this. Was the “shooter” defending his own place of business, or is he going to be pilloried in the national press as a vigilante, eagerly out looking for an excuse to shoot somebody?
Either way, I’d hate to be in his shoes.
Watch the link. He was being chased down the street and knocked to the ground by a guy armed with a pistol. He shot a couple of commies instead of being kicked unconscious.
It’s unclear to be honest and it isn’t known if he was there to protect his own or a friend or relative’s or was part of a group there to protect businesses in general. Whatever the case, the police aren’t doing dick and are coming after those who are actually trying to keep this stuff from happening.
Which, btw, is exactly what happened in Minneapolis.
IMO, anyone who is part of a rioting mob is fair game once they start coming for you. Armed, not armed, makes no difference. The mob itself is a deadly threat, and if you are part of it, anyone the mob goes after is justified in opening fire. I don’t care if you are running around with a “Medic” or “Press” badge. The only close calls would be when one of the rioters gets shot in the back.
As I said above, I think this is a watershed, and much turns on what happens tonight in Kenosha. Does antifa double down? Does the Governor crack down? Do the locals turn out again if antifa shows and the cops and Guard do nothing? If the latter, what are the odds that there won’t be more shootings by both the locals and antifa?
I can’t find the name, but wasn’t there a legendary civil rights lawyer (maybe who later became a SC justice?) who defended a black man who brandished or shot into a mob that was storming his house?
It is, i think, unreasonable to expect someone being attacked by a mob to distinguish the “real violent people” from the “just standing around”. At that point you are part of a mob.
When i was a kid, my parents told me “Don’t you ever go down to a riot. A lot of people like to go to see whats going on, and that is only going to cause you trouble”.
Anyone else heard that the FDA is now a Trumputin puppet?
I wish. But i’m biased.
Hmm. And how is he going to use it to cheat the elections? I think there needs to be an investigation.
I’m dead serious, they’re pushing this hard. The FDA are no longer about science , only about protecting far right wing propaganda.

SPREAD ‘EM!
More than 70 Covid-19 cases have now been linked to an event that drew thousands of tourists to a small South Dakota city earlier this month, CNN surveys of state health departments show.
The annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is a 10-day event that usually brings about 500,00 people to the city. This year, the rally attracted attendees on more than 460,000 vehicles, according to the state’s transportation department.
Experts feared the rally, which drew people from all over the United States — including coronavirus hotspots — had the potential to become to become a spreading event, not just in the state but across the country.
——-
At least 35 infections in Minnesota were tied to the rally, according to Kris Ehresmann, the Infectious Disease Division director at the Minnesota Department of Health. Of those cases, at least two people said they either worked or volunteered at the event. One person was hospitalized and released after a few days, Ehresmann said.
In Nebraska’s panhandle region, at least seven cases have been linked to the rally, Kim Engel, the director of the Panhandle Public Health District, told CNN in an email.
Seventeen cases have been associated with the rally in North Dakota, while cases have also been reported in Wisconsin, Montana and Wyoming.
460,000 vehicles? If you conservatively guess 1.5 humans per vehicle average…
70? 100? 200 “cases”? We’re talking death on a biblical scale. An extinction level event.
The pandemic has been largely over since we peaked in all the state’s not in the NE in June.
Still some counties where it ain’t over yet cause it really has yet to start.
The county I live in just last night hit 1% of the county residents having a confirmed positive case.
10-15 more days we’ll be done here.
Its a little more variable. AZ peaked in July.
Of interest, SD is building to a peak now. Its had two “false” peaks. Its a weird pattern for an infections disease.
Not really weird when we have prevented the damn thing from taking the same course that viruses have always taken.
Not in SD. No lockdowns or masking there, as far as I know.
Should be “masking orders”.
Sure, but SD isn’t very densely populated. Also, what about the volume drop of travelers?
I’m just saying I can’t see how we can say with any certainty that this virus is novel in any way. Sweden’s curve followed almost exactly what you would expect.
It’s politically novel.
“The pandemic has been largely over”
What are you talking about?
The pandemic is RAGING WITH SYSTEMIC RACISM racism all around us!
Headlines from the future: ‘The meetup of tens of people from a far right extremist website on a rural compound on Sep 20th has been linked to 5,000 covid deaths by #Sicence’
Now do the mostly peaceful protests.
That’s the thing people have to understand. CONTEXT. PROBABILITIES.
Just because there are cases it doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world.
Serious question what did people legit expect to happen in Kenosha? the police and national guard stood by and let this get out of hand people are going to take matters into their own hands where they can. The fact their hasn’t been more widespread and common in response to this is what’s surprising to me. These people are burning down business’s and personal property and that will never recover from financially this is many people’s lives. People decided shooting these looters and rolling the dice on the trial by jury is really the only recourse they have and I’m not positive they are wrong.
They expected the businesses owners and residents (but I repeat myself) to learn nothing from Msp and Portland and just cower and turn their bellies up (see my link above). But a few learned a little bit from the Rooftop Korean and a little less from the Inclusive Post Capitalist Out of Business Dinner.
FACT CHECK=FALSE. They are destroying EVIL Private Property, not GOOD Personal Property.
Vox explains
Nick Sandmann, an 18-year-old graduate of Covington Catholic High School and star of an infamous viral video from January 2019, is one of the marquee speakers at Tuesday night’s Republican National Convention. His prominent role highlights the fundamental truth about the GOP in the Trump era: that it is an empty vehicle for conveying cultural grievance.
——-
Blah blah blah
——-
If all of this sounds like stale cultural grievance — well, it is. Sandmann isn’t a meaningfully important public figure anymore; he’s 18 years old and has no political accomplishments other than being in the wrong place at the wrong time and forcing settlements in two lawsuits.
Now do David Hogg.
Or Greta Thunberg
the greta thunberg thing is especially bad since she’s on the spectrum.
Yeah, she’s being badly used as a prop or at least that was certainly the case when she was younger.
Sorry Gretel, global warming is so last week. It’s all about peaceful protests now.
Or Billie Eilish.
Star isn’t the word i would have chosen. Perhaps unwilling subject of a smear campaign?
Regardless of if he was the victim, I still get the sense he’s prolly an asshole.
If all of this sounds like stale cultural grievance — well, it is.
Because the DemOp Media has totally changed their ways since they defamed him.
“How dare they use our tactics against us.”
Maybe sunshine and alcohol are our best defense against the Wu Flu. It’s worth a try.
The only cure is voting democrat and carrying water for the perpetually aggrieved class.
So Audible has added a “Plus” feature for subscribers that has a bunch of Sowell, some Hayek, and some Milton Friedman. I will ask this again later, but does anyone have any suggestion on where to start with any of them? I was considering “Capitalism and Freedom” by Friedman, “Marxism” by Sowell, or “Intellectuals and Race” by Sowell. Thoughts?
I don’t think it matters where you start with Sowell, you’re going to read quite a few of his; Knowledge and Decisions, Vision of the Annointed, A Conflict of Visions are three I’ve read. I also have Wealth, Poverty and Politics in my reading queue.
Great. Thanks for the info. I went through the section and added all that I could from those three.
Oh shit, this is great. Capitalism and Freedom is pretty mandatory reading. Intellectuals and Society might be a good place to start with Sowell, but its hard to pick a bad book by him. Charter School and its Enemies is pretty great if thats Related To Your Interests.
Thanks Leap. I think I’ll start with Capitalism and Freedom then.
My Audible subscription has gained a lot of value with these additions.
Yes…
I had to drop audible, because working from home i couldn’t keep up with my 1 book a month. I’m catching up and when i do i’ll probably join up again. However i Highly, Highly recommend Hayek’s Individualism and Economic Order, if it is available.
(if not it is online PDF free from the mises institute).
Thanks for the suggestion leon. It isn’t on there in audiobook form, but I realized that I do have it downloaded from Mises.
When I changed jobs and stopped driving all over N. Utah and S.E. Idaho, I cancelled my Audible, but they wooed me back with some deal. I am trying to make sure that I get my money’s worth.
In reality, though, Sandmann’s appearance is a testament to the emptiness of this narrative. There’s no policy argument connected to this story; revisiting it does nothing to convince voters that the Trump administration can make their lives better in any kind of material way. The RNC to date has been empty in this exact way, an attempt to gin up anger and fear at the base’s enemies rather than sell a positive vision of America.
Bringing Sandmann to this stage is best understood as a kind of sleight of hand. Donald Trump is president of the United States, and is currently in charge of a country that has one of the worst coronavirus outbreaks in the world. The economy is in free fall. Protests against racial justice still rage, sometimes even turning violent, and Trump has nothing to say about them but pro-police bromides and cultural demagoguery.
Don’t focus on the governance failures under our watch and the fact that we don’t have any meaningful solutions. Instead, join us in hating your enemies: the media and those horrible social justice warriors.
That’s a good angle, Vox. Go with that.
“Our mostly peaceful protests against the people who work and produce and create value are going to heal this sick perverted nation. The Democratic Party will make us all rich and happy, just as soon as we put the deplorables in their place.”
Instead, join us in hating your enemies: the media and those horrible social justice warriors.
Well, if you say so.
I checked that box a long time ago.
I want to see a poll that asks “Do you think the Media is the enemy of the people”, because i think a lot of journos would be surprised to see how hated they are.
Yeah, but 59% believe FOX News is The Media and 39% believe CNN/MSNBC is The Media. To both The Media is always wrong, but not Their Media. Just like congress
Fox News isn’t even that right wing. Chris Wallace is their marquee guy, and he’s a liberal. FoxNews is right wing only in relation to all the other networks.
I’ve made the argument before, but I almost wonder if Fox New is the Trojan Horse of media. Get all the conservatives together at one news source and then slowly move farther and farther left. I think that’s what they’ve done so far (barring maybe a few of the Tucker type shows). Mudoch’s kids hate the entity that they’ll own soon.
It’s working at the NY Post.
Not to mention our death rate for the Covid is fairly low and we’re a nation of over three hundred million. They’d have a point if the US was the only country with a covid problem but we aren’t and they don’t.
The RNC to date has been empty in this exact way, an attempt to gin up anger and fear at the base’s enemies rather than sell a positive vision of America.
They have literally been stating accomplishments and goals going forward.
Now accuse them of projection.
All the mirrors in my house shattered just now.
The whole thing with Sandman was that he didn’t actually do anything wrong, he was the target of a professional political agitator, and the media ran with the story because it fit their bigotry. White boy with a MAGA hat has to be the aggressor, because they said so.
They are still fucking that chicken.
I’m going to say this again (and again). What pisses me off more than anything else about this whole pigeon superstition dance is the sight of little kids in masks. It’s infuriating.
