Q: My husband and I often enjoy margaritas on the rocks with salt on the glass rim. He has a habit of first licking the salt on the rim and then taking a swig.

I think this habit is rude, but he thinks it is no problem. I simply take a drink normally, enjoying the salt while drinking (not licking!). Is his habit socially acceptable, as he claims, in the context of margarita drinking?

A: THIS AM WHAT A “FIRST WORLD PROBLEM” BE, RIGHT? MAYBE HIM EAGER TO GET TO DRINK BECAUSE YOU NAG.

STEVE SMITH MAKE GOOD MARGARITA! HIM USE SALT LICK HIM TAKE FROM POACHERS. BY TAKE FROM POACHERS, MEAN RAPE POACHERS, TAKE THEM BAD THINGS AWAY.

Q: I realize that social media is a big part of today’s world, and I have no problem with someone using it to stay in contact with family and friends. But at what point is it deemed an addiction?

My significant other spends hours every day scrolling through his Facebook and Twitter pages. I have tried discussing it with him, but it becomes an argument. Now I just sit in the same room with him, silent and waiting until it’s my turn for his attention. How can I get him to realize how isolated from him it makes me feel and that my presence doesn’t seem to be needed? Should I just accept that he’s an addict and move on?

A: … SORRY, STEVE SMITH BUSY READING GLIBERTARIANS.COM AND NOT HEAR YOU. HAHAHA! STEVE SMITH MAKE JOKE! ADVICE STEVE SMITH GIVE – TAKE DEVICE, COMPUTER, PHONE AND SMASH WITH BIG ROCK.

“I think this habit is rude”

I don’t know about rude, but it does seem a bit weird.

    • Toxteth O'Grady

      In public or private?

Maybe he likes that salt-lemon-shot ritual. I’m sure that’s the incorrect order, having never done it.

      • Count Potato

        It goes salt, tequila, lime.

  2. westernsloper

Licking the rim is wrong. (That may have sounded not right)

    • Sean

      ?

    • Rebel Scum

Not wrong but I have been told that is costs more.

    • Threedoor

      Not worth it.

      • C. Anacreon

Spoken like someone who’s been around the world.

  3. SP

    Thanks, STEVE.

I often feel like smashing my own devices, computer, and phones with a big rock! (And sometimes websites, too.)

  4. Mojeaux the Magnificent

Lady, find your own hobbies and go live your life. Sounds like he won’t notice.

    • SP

Right? Who stays in such a dysfunctional relationship?

      • Mojeaux the Magnificent

Or at least adjusts to make it as advantageous as possible.

    • Don escaped Duopoly

      go live your life

Mojeaux solves 92% of the world’s problems in four words

  5. Rebel Scum

STEVE SMITH BUSY READING GLIBERTARIANS.COM AND NOT HEAR YOU.

    I’ve been guilty of this.

  6. Sean

I’m now entering the drinking phase of the evening. The weekend has begun. The three day weekend. Yay.

  7. Tulip

    Thanks SP. You are awesome

    • Mad Scientist

      Understatement of the year!

  8. commodious spittoon

I blame the libs. We didn’t own them hard enough Or too hard? Whatever, they’re at fault.

    • one true athena

There’s no such thing as Peak Derp, so there can be no such thing as Owning Libs Too Hard.

      It’s SCIENCE!

  9. one true athena

    YAY IT’S BACK!!!

    • Chafed

      Amen.

  10. Gustave Lytton

STEVE SMITH POST SHUT DOWN WEBSITE AND BY SHUT DOWN MEAN RAPE WEBSITE.

    • Mad Scientist

I like how the license plate is masked, but the reflection of the license plate is not.

      • Threedoor

I want to throat punch everyone that blots out lisence plate numbers.

      • nw

        Why?

I keep wanting to build a site where people can leave messages for each other
        based on license plate number.

I’m not entirely sure how to do that in a way that doesn’t increase the number
        of car wrecks.

      • Threedoor

Itโ€™s so stupid. Iโ€™m not a cop. I dont work at the DMV. If you think there is some magical information that a rando can glean from your plate you had better cover that bad boy 24/7. Better yet take it off.

Itโ€™s a dumb trend that does nothing.

  11. Gustave Lytton

So how many people DM’d after saying on Twitter it was unnecessary to do so?

I almost did it because I’m an easily amused, juvenile, and a BAC above zero. Then I remembered the rusty can lids.

    • SP

      A not insignificant number.

      • Festus' Mustache

I didn’t DM but did go through a bout of DTs. Me being me I attributed blame on my part.

      • SP

You’ll be able to tell who they were when certain commenters go missing tomorrow and onward. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • nw

Dungeon Mastered? I’ll admit I’m unfamiliar with the kids lingo.

      • commodious spittoon

        The fuck is this guy??

      • nw

        https://youtu.be/g3bUicXNWz4

AKA: someone who can’t be bothered to figure which
version of non-html markup this site uses.

        *Waits for banhammer*

Now that I think of it, that’s not a bad band name. I’ll add it to my list.

      • commodious spittoon

        HE KEEPS TALKING

  12. Festus' Mustache

YOU’RE BACK! YOU’RE BACK! *runs around in circles and pees on the doormat*

  13. nw

Put down the damn phone and pay attention to what’s actually here.
    Drives me nuts.

Also, lockdown sucks. I *should* be out somewhere making bad decisions.
Instead I’m at home making bad decisions.
    WTF.

    • SP

      It’s part of your charm.

      Or all of your charm.

      • nw

It’s amazing how well “Want to make bad decisions with me?”
        works.

      • Festus' Mustache

Birds of a feather. A stupid in the hand is worth two in the county jail.

      • Chafed

I thought a stupid in the hand puts you in county jail.

      • Festus' Mustache

In county jail, stupid put hands on you!

    • Festus' Mustache

Bad decisions at home are generally better than bad decisions out in the public sphere. Blessings to be counted ๐Ÿ˜‰

  14. Gustave Lytton

Yo WS- from your query in the last thread. I believe suthen was around earlier today or yesterday that he was battening down the hatches in preparation.

  15. mikey

The world suck was too much so, a bike ride this morning and no Glibs.. Was treated to my first sighting of big horn sheep. Way cool. The rest of the day playing with the old car. Nice day. Ready finally for some Friday night Glibs fun and….the world really is ending.
    Whew. Iโ€™m ok now, really.

    • Festus' Mustache

Yep. It’s funny how much of my day to day is structured around this crazy site. I need to get out more but when weighing the options…

    • SP

I’m not saying this was a carefully engineered ploy to make you all grateful and not take the site for granted, but it was aliens.

      • Festus' Mustache

No one realizes that they are the people in the Skinner box.

      • Chafed

I almost read a book. But my daughters roped me in to watching a movie.

      • Festus' Mustache

        Was it “Cuties”? *ducks*

      • SP

Whoa. I’m glad your daughters stopped you from going completely nuts.

      • Chafed

It was close but with their help I dodged a bullet.

    • mikey

Sheep. They were nice enough to wait while i got the camera out and put on the long lens.

      • Festus' Mustache

Cool! We have them up here too but you generally have to drive to Jasper to see them.

  16. hayeksplosives

I can rest easy knowing that the website is back and STEVE SMITH is on advice duty.

    Happy Friday!

    • Festus' Mustache

      You too, belatedly!

    • Chafed

I’m a ZARDOZ man myself. I find his advice more killy.

      • Festus' Mustache

        So you’re a fighter, not a lover?

      • C. Anacreon

        AKA a “reverse Dangerfield”.

      • Festus' Mustache

        AKA Sam Kinison?

  17. hayeksplosives

Our former pastor and his wife were here in San Diego for a reunion so they came by the house for a visit.

They were so glad to relax and catch up, no masks! We were surprised to hear that there had been a split in the church about covid precautions vs freedom. Plus some affiliated church went full SJW regard.

COVID itself might not be that dangerous but the covid related policies, stress, and aftermath will be causing damage we canโ€™t calculate.

    • Festus' Mustache

The divisiveness is concerning. All of that concentrated hatred can bear naught but bitter fruit. Imma go don my tin-foil pussy hat.

      • Festus' Mustache

Hey, hs, have you brought that spouse of yours to heel yet? Not prying, just interested if he has settled into the San Diego vibe.

      • hayeksplosives

He was getting much better, and we were consciously getting out and meeting people when COVID hit.

Getting back to normal will help.

      • Tejicano

“Getting back to normal will help.”

I can’t think of anything that won’t improve with a lot more of that.

  18. Gustave Lytton

Eff me. Wife goes into the kitchen and discovers dishwasher has an error code on it and the drain pump is continuously running. Code is for water in the sump underneath. Wonderful. Will have to wait until tomorrow to tear it apart. Just what I had planned.

    • CPRM

Meh, just ignore it and see what happens. That’s the approach I take to home repair, work, health, reality, politics…everything in general.

      • Gustave Lytton

As long as it’s wet underneath, it’s never going to stop just like these kids.

      • Festus' Mustache

There is stuff going on this Sunday that I neither asked for or condoned. It’s basically like getting a high colonic from my step daughters. Painful and very awkward.

      • CPRM

Like when my little brother came over to help remodel my bathroom (which I needed) and decided to demolish one of my bedrooms without talking to me. He helped get the bathroom 3/4 remodeled and left the bedroom torn apart. Wasted another year of my life just getting that bedroom back to order.

    • Sean

      Did you check the thermostat?

  19. CPRM

New episode submitted. Time for more drinkin.

    • Festus' Mustache

      Yay!

    • CPRM

If we ever need to invade a river, that might come in handy. Too bad we only invade deserts now…

      • Festus' Mustache

Was pleased to see the M-2 make an appearance. Sitting ducks on the water, though.

      • Tejicano

It is rather interesting how busy the Navy SeALs and Marines have been so far away from any shoreline.

  20. limey

Those new Oreo LBGQT+++ cookies; is it just a visual thing, or can you, you know, taste the rainbow*?

*yes, it’s worth signing in for

    Morning, Glibmates.

    • Yusef drives a Kia

What happened to the site last night? just gone, I was bummed,
      Good Mornining everybody!

      • Gender Traitor

Good morning, Glibboys! I guess it’s afternoon for you now, limey/JD.

I didn’t check in last evening until about 10 pm EDT. Once I gave up on the site coming back up any time soon, it’s amazing how much “puttering” I got done, rearranging stuff in my deliciously-cluttered study-of-sorts. But I was relieved when I finally went to bed and saw on my phone that it was back.

      • Fourscore

Mornin’ Yusef, I thought it was just me/my computer. That feeling you have when you are supposed to meet your boss for lunch to discuss a promotion and your car won’t start. Or meeting the judge to get your alimony adjusted down and you forgot the road construction. That was me, went to bed, worried that I was alone in the CV wilderness.

All is well, thanks SP and all the Midnight Warriors…

    • Sean

      Mornin all
