“I knew they would steal it from me,” Donald fumed. “I knew it.”
“They are still counting the votes, Donald,” the hair said, massaging his scalp.
“Thieves!” the hat squealed. “Where are the lawyers?!? Rattle their cages! Hit them with their food bowls! Wake them! Wake them!”
“You won Texas and Florida,” the hair said. “MAGA country is still intact.”
“I love MAGA country,” Donald said, closing his eyes and leaning back. “MAGA country high, not in Colorado,” he crooned.
“Succession!” the hat screamed.
“I won!’ Donald said, “I won!”
“Stolen election!” the hat said, squirming on the desk like a livewire eel.
“LAWYERS!” Donald bellowed.
Rudy entered the Oval Office, driving a herd of junior lawyers before him, mandibles clattering to keep them quiescent. “Mr. President,” he said in a bubbling squeak.
“Lawyers!” Donald said. “Send them to Pennsylvania and Michigan and Wisconsin!”
“Already there,” Rudy said, pausing in grooming his forearms.
“More! More!” the hat said.
“Flood the zone!” Donald. “I want a lawyer there for every stolen vote. When the recounts start, I want them contesting every mail-in ballot!”
“The signatures! The addresses! The inner and the outer envelopes! Hunter Biden has crack-AIDS!” the hat said and then fell over panting.
“Go!” Donald said to the lawyers. “Away! Away!”
The hair tore himself away from Donald’s scalp as the baby lawyers filed out to the rhythmic clattering of Rudy’s manipulatory phalanges.
“I’m going to take a nap,” the hair said tiredly.
“Slink off, traitor,” the hat said. “You should have let me MOVE Philadelphia like I wanted!”
“We couldn’t firebomb Philadelphia!” the hair said.
“Not with that sort of defeatist attitude!” the hat show back.
“Turn off the TVs, Donald,” the hair said. “We won’t know anything until maybe tomorrow.”
“They should have stopped counting once I won,” Donald fumed. “What’s the point of counting after that if not to steal the election from me?”
“Chuck Todd’s comb forward isn’t fooling anyone!” the hat yelled at the NBC feed.
“Limbo,” Donald moaned, “I’m in limbo. I don’t want to be a one-termer. Don’t make me a one-termer.”
“Armed revolt! Rise up, MAGA country! Rise up, you fucking hicks!” the hat howled.
“Can we all calm down?!?” the hair begged.
“Never!” Donald and his hat screamed together.
“Slink off, traitor,” the hat said. “You should have let me MOVE Philadelphia like I wanted!”
Heh.
“Already there,” Rudy said, pausing in grooming his forearms.
Damn. I can actually picture that!
Same here. It’s the little details like this that draw me in.
Tell the truth, SugarFree. How many of these did you have prepped and ready to go?
You guys don’t appreciate the genius of SugarFree. He really can rattle these off in no time.
I do. STEVE SMITH STILL FUNNIEST THING ON INTERNET. AND IF YOU DON’T AGREE, MEAN RAPITY DOUBLE RAPE.
None. I really do write these the morning of. It’s just easier than writing a bunch more I never end up having a use for. I finished writing this one at 11:37 EST, drafted and set to post about five minutes later.
We’ll all be driving electric Subarus soon, SF. Maybe time for a new episode.
Oooh, creepy
I want to see the other “lost episodes” that were written in case of a clear Biden win or a clear Trump win.
Favorite line
My fave was “the hat said and then fell over panting”.
“Succession!” the hat screamed.”
The slow succession of the sheeple towards communism.
Careful now…
I think I’m going to pay violent video games all day before Camela bans them by executive order.
There is a clear mandate. Amerika wants communism, good and hard.
I hope y’all are having some nice boat accidents this morning. Beta is coming for you.
Not sure if this is sarcasm or not, so please forgive me if I’ve misunderstood you:
The country is split nearly perfectly in half, at least so far as major party affilation goes. I’m open to the suggestion that most people in the Dem camp aren’t as hard-left as their leadership is going, but I’d also say the same thing about Repubs.
However, the fact that we’re split so closely means – to me – there is no mandate. If anything, it should demand humility from those elected (ya, I know, that’s crazy talk).
I live in WA. About half a dozen counties decide it for everyone. Always have. But to say that this is what “the people” of WA want isn’t close to the truth. 40-50% don’t, anyway, and I think the same goes for all the other places that are even closer.
Mandate? Nah. But they’ll behave as though there is.
the winning side always claims a mandate. particularly the left.
Baby Bush has a sad
It was a mix of sarcasm and serious.
It doesn’t matter if there is a mandate or not. The democrats will take it as a mandate. That’s all that matters.
The other thing is, the blue states are now blue by huge insurmountable majorities. The red states are barely hanging on, and getting flooded by blue staters fleeing the shitholes they helped create in order to create new shitholes. Then they realize there is nowhere left to go, it will be too late for all of us.
Be a good worker and you get increased chocolate rations. Well, probably not because we ran out of chocolate, but we can still dream of the good old days when you could just get that shit out of vending machines on your lunch break.
Ya, this I can’t disagree with.
As I mentioned in the thread this morning, the flood may be unintentional to some degree (they don’t know why their previous home went to crap and don’t understand how voting the same way will accomplish the same thing), but the results end up being the same.
The problem is public education. That’s why the commies took that over first. All of the other stuff, media, entertainment, etc, are just drops in the big bucket of total transformation of the USA into a woketopia disaster.
There is a clear mandate. Amerika wants communism, good and hard.
The assumption baked in here is that without a mandate, the commies would engage in self reflection and stop trying to fundamentally transform the country to meet their disgusting goals.
They’re evil. Not evil like in the movies, where a supervillain comes up with some rube Goldberg plan to take over. Real life evil where they infest everything like a scourge of locusts, caring not a whit for the morality or consequences of what they do. When they can use an election to push their cause, they do. When they can’t use the election, they use one of a thousand other ways.
You could line up 100 Trumps to serve as president for the next 200 terms and it wouldn’t change the creeping societal destruction wrought by these people. They don’t rely on elections to get their way. They don’t care about social consensus or respecting the autonomy of others. You are a natural resource to them, and they will exploit you by hook or by crook.
“Soylent Green is people.” A statement that is more true by the day.
“caring not a whit for the morality”
Moral relativism is a real thing.
One of the few times SNL skits I saw years after the fact that made me laugh was Dana Carvey’s Bush sobbing “I’m a Jimmy Carter!”
Well done.
I may watch a few SNLs after Biden wins to see if they actually lampoon the idiot or bend themselves into a pretzel to lick their own assholes.
Prediction: SNL doing years of “Where Are They Now”-style skits following Trump around. Biden mockery? Not so much.
They sang fucking paeans to Obama, FFS. It won’t be that shameless with Biden – but it won’t be pretty, either.
Obama was black and Clinton the first woman. Biden doesn’t have those protections. Plus he is a gaffe machine. They can ignore it if they want, but I don’t see how they can polish that turd.
They did a great job parodying the candidates that year, with Carvey playing both Bush and Perot.
Oh ya! The other one was his Perot throwing money at people to do humiliating stuff: “Get down and bark like a dog!”
Here’s another great SNL skit from 1992: President Bill Clinton at McDonald’s
Norm McDonald used to savage the Clintons on Weekend Update. Hard to believe now.
Season 10, episode 3 (20 October 1984) – Jesse Jackson hosts. Presented as an example of how far the show has fallen in the 21st century. I wanted to share the cold open but couldn’t find it online, so I shared the whole episode from my collection. Billy Crystal plays Sammy Davis Jr. in a bit that would never be done today; Jackson is charming and self-deprecating.
hahaha, I remember that one. There’s a bunch of background noise during his monologue, and he goes to see what’s going on in the control booth. Lorne has to hustle all the white guys out and usher black guys in so Jackson doesn’t boycott them.
We couldn’t firebomb Philadelphia!” the hair said.
Would anyone have noticed?
Noticed… maybe, cared… no
It would be redundant right now.
It wouldn’t matter, they’re still going to have more voters for the next presidential election than they had this go around.
“Armed revolt! Rise up, MAGA country! Rise up, you fucking hicks!” the hat howled.
*fires ‘murikan built AK into the air*
I’ll stick with the AR platform just because it seems to be a totem that sets gun grabbers off, although I do rush the whirling dervish of elbows.
Risk not rush.
You know what’s a lot of fun? An AR in 7.62×39.
Yeah, clearing double-feeds is a gas! You get really good at it.
#fakenews
I haven’t had that happen.
?
At one time, I owned a very reliable Yugo.
I’ve shot both. I prefer low recoil, high speed. Hell the commies agreed with the 5.45. I don’t know why they just didn’t admit the 5.56 was superior.
The hair tore himself away from Donald’s scalp as the baby lawyers filed out to the rhythmic clattering of Rudy’s manipulatory phalanges.
Im just glad they weren’t suckling his roach-man nipples.
Poor thing dried up years ago.
Apologies for going (semi) off-topic so quickly, but I missed the morning links – so Wisconsin supposedly had 93% turnout, and Michigan had an update early this morning that added 128,000 votes to Biden and 0 to Trump.
That seems believable.
I don’t think that happened.
Well, see for yourself. These were from the NYT election central:
Michigan
Wisconsin
In both cases, in the wee hours, Biden’s total suddenly shoots up in a vertical line. And, again in both cases, this came after they just inexplicably stopped counting votes only to start counting them again a few hours later.
Also, the 93% turnout in Wisconsin is so brazen you almost have to laugh. I tihnk I read that the record turnout for Wisconsin was in the low 70s and came decades ago. 2017 turnout was like 65%.
There’s no 93% turnout in Wisconsin. look at the votes.
Also pretty sure Michigan did not really add 128,000 for biden and 0 for trump.
Both links show the Michigan vote totals in the top half. The first one lists 2,200,902 for Trump and 1,992,356 for Biden. In the second one, Biden is up to 2,130,695 and Trump’s is…..still 2,200,902.
Apparently the 128K was a typo, the guy who put it out there has now retracted.
Not suspicious at all that the same thing happened in two swing states within a pretty short time period.
No way only 7% of people decided not to vote or forgot to vote. No fucking way. At least 15% didn’t vote because they hated both candidates and couldn’t give a fuck… Add another 10% for people who were too lazy or forgot. That still record turn out. 93% is fucking Belarusian.
turnout looks a little over 60% to me.
No worries, team red will be allowed to run again if they select Jeb Bush in 2024.
Or Zombie John McCain
2016 wisky voting population: 4.3M
2020 votes: 3.1M so far
~70%-75% participation rate for Wisky given a small increase in voting population and a few hundred thousand ballots yet to be counted
According to the Wisconsin Elections Commission’s own website, the state had 3,684,726 registered voters as of three days ago.
They have same-day registration (*spits*), so that number doesn’t mean much.
I think the 93% is for registered voters. Which still seems high even with mail-in voting.
It’s extremely high. Turnout in any given presidential election averages around 60%.
The 60% is of eligible voters, not registered voters.
But what are you going to do about it? Nothing. We get Biden and the deep state goes back to doing whatever the fuck it wants.
Return to NoRmAlCy.
Again, the GOP knew this was going to happen, because it’s happened before. Why weren’t they ready for it?
Don’t answer that, I already know.
Sigh… I miss Lee Atwater.
Votes mysteriously showing up in the wee hours of election night and swinging the election is the most unexpected thing to happen since Epstein killed himself.
I wonder with less xenophobic Biden as president if Romania has a shot at getting in the visa waiver thing for the US. Especially since the EU might make some noise to get all EU countries in the visa waiver thing.
I’m just glad to see people admitting that Euros are Xenos.
Yes, but no one is allowed in or out of the country.
Or their homes.
Stay in Romania is your best move.
did I say I planned leaving?
It’s really not that difficult to get a US tourist visa. Especially compared to complying with the test, quarantine, vaccination requirements that are going to be in place in the foreseeable future.
It’s about to get a lot easier. And I say that as a person who loves his new immigrant wife and she’s my entire life now. And she agrees with me that illegal immigration is bullshit when it comes with free shit paid for those of us who actually contribute to society.
Fuck these open border assholes. End welfare or STFU and get a damn job.
Seems like ever since Bush v. Gore, there has to be one state that is the focal point for all the fucked up irregularities. There are a few this year, but it looks like PA will take the prize. Maybe MI.
AZ and NV are trying for the trophy as well.
How do you stop counting votes at 64%? That’s all there is to say.
Gotta bring in the mail trucks under cover of night
“Welp, this looks like a natural stopping point for the night. We’ll come back to it tomorrow after everyone has had a chance to calm down a little!”
If you finish counting before knowing how many votes you’ll need it’s much harder to win.
At least stop at 69% so we can all giggle about it.
That was the tell. It was obvious that GA and NC were on the verge of being called for Trump with WI and MI close behind when suddenly and coincidentally all the close states stopped counting.
Back when we had real in person voting, the polls would close at 7 and the final count was done at 9. That whole thing was intentionally destroyed to enable fraud.
Prediction: Biden wins PA after fucked up system, so won’t be mocked for the next 2 decades like FL was, because they got it “Right”.
yep. This won’t even be in the history books as a particularly close election.
It will be in the history books as a Republican president that attempted to steal the election.
If it helps, there are plenty of better reasons to mock Pennsylvania.
Property taxes. It’s fucking sad when you can buy a home 40% cheaper than you can in MD but your payments will still be higher than in MD because the taxes are that much higher in PA. WTF are they even thinking? Keep Murlanders out? I guess that much makes sense.
yeah that adds up.
Who wants to look at that flag all day hanging from your neighbors house or on the bumper of the car whose going too slow in the fast lane or deal with the natty bo that gets left in your cooler when you host a neighborhood get together.
Those taxes and our overall weirdness is our defense mechanism. Yes, it is to keep Marylanders in Maryland, and New Yorkers in New York, and New Jerseyans in Hell. It’s like having an autoimmune disorder, sure it’s making us miserable but our immune system is still keeping the infections at bay.
PA is a uniquely awful backwater. It has everything for everyone to hate. If you hate the boonies it has the boonies, if you hate cities it has philadelphia, if you hate slow drivers it has the amish.
I’ll take Amish buggies on the road over the retarded suicidal MD drivers. I fucking hate driving because of that shit. I used to love it. Driving here will cure you of loving driving really fast.
270 is a white knuckling drive for any sane human. I don’t think we’ll ever get ai drivers because of that stretch of road. There is no pattern to discern in the chaos.
Well, well, well.
An error was found in the data feed from Edison Research (used by @nytimes and other news organizations) for Arizona results — 86 percent of ballots have been counted, not 98 percent. NYT has not called the state for Biden, though he still leads. …
According to the link, 100 percent of the absentee ballots were already counted, but I think I’d wait for the data outlet to fix its data before taking that to the bank. Arizona is just waking up (time difference) and presumably officials there will be clarifying matters today.
hmmmmmmmmm
Well the States that decided nah we done counting will give the Media their projected blowout. Tin Foil hat talk? Probably but its true.
This breakdown is inline with what we are estimating and why we believe @realDonaldTrump will carry AZ.
AZ is gone, not sure why anyone is still talking about it. Trump needs PA, where they have blatantly stopped counting votes, and either WI or MI.
He needs PA, GA, NC, and AZ.
Am I the only one here convinced that the country just needs to be broken up at this point? It’s painfully obvious we’re no longer one people with a common culture, values, worldviews or interests, but at least two and probably more. Trying to keep the nation cobbled together under one central government is only having the effect of making the peoples hate one another all the more. We careen between these two political sides because the two sides are just about equal in size. Both peoples detest the idea of being ruled by the other and gravitate to the extremes of their own tribe to provide protection. We dealt with it through federalism for a good run, but we’ve so watered down federalism now that it provides no meaningful assurance for anyone. It makes more sense for the two peoples to be friendly neighbors than alternating captives and jailers who can’t stand one another.
Idea: let’s just have some sort of loose union with a weak central government and mostly rule ourselves.
I’m probably the first person to think of this.
Yeah, that’s the basic idea. I don’t see how you get there anymore without either secession or disunion.
Leftists will not let anyone out from under their grasp.
The Berlin Wall was to keep people in, not to keep people out.
Yeah but I can dream, right?
If the states from TX to FL and up to the OK/AR/TN/NC northern borders seceded tomorrow, how many of us are moving somewhere in there? Call it the Gulf Republic.
11 States. Each state gets 50 Representatives, to be elected from 40 districts and 10 at large. Each state gets 5 Senators, 2 popularly elected and 3 elected by the state legislatures of the states. All legislation must pass both houses by 66%, and all legislation can be repealed by a vote of 40% in both houses. All legislation sunsets in 5 years. No law can be longer than 2,000 words.
Executive authority is vested in a Triumvirate composed of the top three vote getters in a ranked choice election run every 3 years. Only the top vote getter can be reelected, and he can only be reelected twice. No one can serve more than 3 terms.
Supreme Court is composed of 66 Justices, each state sends six via vote of the legislature. All cases are heard by a panel of 9 justices drawn by lot. Either party can appeal the decision once or twice, but after 3 completely random panels of the 66 have rendered the same verdict, the case is final.
The federal government is funded by a flat 10% tax on all income, and cannot levy any other form of tax, fee, fine, or levy. Money can be borrowed only with a 90% vote of House and Senate, the assent of all three Triumvirs, and by a 90% vote of all 11 state legislatures. Gold standard, naturally.

Can we at least stick with a confederation this time?!?
Maybe we can draw up some articles that describe this confederation.
Red Flag! We can discuss what cities we are going to burn if Trump wins, but we cannot discuss how to move forward if Biden wins. Please report immediately to your nearest Truth(tm) brought to you by Google center to receive your daily education.

*Limited* government is what allows large numbers of people with disparate backgrounds and varying values to live together in peace. When the government is no longer limited…
Sorry, meant to say “…to live together in peace under a single government…” not to imply that government allows people to live together. Bad miss there.
I understood that. But what’s the solution when one of the groups values large, powerful, intrusive government. To me some sort of separation is the only answer.
The problem here is when one of the larger groups of people value powerlust over all else.
That simply will not do – it allows people to be WRONG, and WRONGNESS is highly offensive. We refuse to be OFFENDED by your horrid WRONGNESS.
Now, are you ready to admit you need us to make you better?
I think the Constitution is too weak in several areas. Example: there are no clear penalties for violating the Constitution.
Anyway, I blame the Founding Fathers.
I have thought a lot about this…if there were significant penalties, it might be more likely that politicians and gov’t employees would think twice about violating the Constitution…
Or that the watchdogs would think twice about prosecuting and convicting them.
Yes…and there are several more areas where the document could be strengthened. I think the 2A could have been written more unambiguously, even taking into account 18th century language/vocabulary. It’s clear to me what they meant, because I’ve read other writings by members of the Constitutional Convention, but the only thing that counts legally is the actual Constitution. So you can’t say “well, Patrick Henry wrote this pamphlhet 5 years before the Convention” in anything but an academic setting.
I think the 2A could have been written more unambiguously, even taking into account 18th century language/vocabulary.
I mean, the operative clause is “the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”, and I don’t think you can possibly write something more unambiguous than that. People deliberately obfuscate the issue by purposefully getting hung up on the explanatory clause, which has as much legal force as the preamble to the constitution (i.e. none).
“That the people have a right to bear arms for defense of themselves and the state; and as standing armies are in the time of peace are dangerous to liberty, they ought not be kept up; and that the military should be kept under strict subordination to, and governed by, the civil power” Pennsylvania state constitution of 1776.
Not that the wording wouldn’t be twisted, but the wording could have definitely been more clear.
OK, the explicit mention of the right to defend themselves does make it stronger. Perhaps an amalgamation of the two would have been best:
“That the people have a right to bear arms for defense of themselves and the state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
The only solution is to send a terminator back in time and have the Founding Fathers program it to eliminate any politician that violates the Constitution.
…but that’s almost all of them.
Okay, I’m on board.
maybe we could separate out the powers of gov and have the different branches keep the executive or congress in check by not enforcing or funding unconstitutional measures and have a neutral arbitrator rule on these matters. In all seriousness if your measure is ruled unconstitutional by the nazgul they should have the power to automatically exile you from politics forever.
Anyway, I blame the Founding Fathers.
You and Lysander Spooner, and neither one of you is wrong…
I think the constitution was too strong. It should have remained a weak confederacy, instead of a strong federal government.
When I say too weak, I mean too weak on curtailing Federal govt power.
That’s my point. Once yet a federal camel’s nose in your tenth, the rest is coming with.
With 13-20 States it was probably just right amount. The geographical area is too wide spread and I agree that a weak confederacy would have fit nicely into our growth over the past 200+ years
It was a weak confederacy, until Lincoln gutted the 10th Amendment.
They left the union before he had a chance.
The Constitution was in no small part a coup of wealthy men with Revolutionary war debt creating a central taxation authority to get their bonds paid off, and to establish a Navy to protect their shipping. They argued that the Revolution was only possible because of the money they had furnished, and that they were due to those debts from the Nation. Their field hands and stable boys thought more along the lines of “I lost toes at Valley Forge and an eye at Cowpens, you lost a lot of money buying powder and shot, those are our respective sacrifices for independence.”
Thank you, thank you, thank you. That is an angle which (IMO) is too little discussed.
I have argued for decades that the antifederalists were right.
No you are not…just there are no natutal lines to break it up too.
Most on the right will pick themselves up and dust off their shirt and move on. Problem is thay most of the right still believe they will have a chance in 4 years to utilize the ballot box.
no natutal lines to break it up
Difficult when it is mostly a rural/urban divide.
Every state has a big city that’s expanding its blue bubble.
City States! Mandatory explusion from the union when a combination of population size and population density is met.
The thing that really starts getting to me is that NO ONE I talk to – with very few exceptions – is actually for liberty.
If Trump is so terrifying, and Repubs are the devil and want to put everyone in chains, then that’s a wonderful argument for limiting government reach and power, right? Nope, we just need our team in charge to “fix” all the issues of people choosing the wrong things.
If teh Dems are out to take our jerbs and gunz, then that’s a great example of why we ought not give gov’t the power to do those things, right? Nope, just gotta get Red or get ded.
I understand the need to feel like we’re on the winning side (Boingo alert) – and I fall into it myself, of course – but what I don’t understand is the disconnect by nearly everyone of my acquaintaince that think (1) It’s ok to make other people do what I think is best, and (2) Not allowing people the freedom to be wrong is actually really and truly freedom.
One of the worst lies that most people have unquestionly accepted is that “none of the above” isn’t an option.
As a guy that has been down the divorce trail why would you want me choosing your new leader? My track record ain’t all that hot and as a result I skip the vote thing every 4 years.
I don’t want you choosing what’s best for me either.
Nevada by law, is required to place that on the ballot for federal offices. It was used a bit this year….almost beating out Jo
Which could be what keeps NV from Trump…
10k voted none of these candidates.
Joe is only ahead by <8000 votes.
You seem like a very nice person, but I gotta say, this argument leaves me completely cold.
As long as politicians and bureaucrats can hurt me with their decrees, I’m going to work to elect the one likely to hurt me the least. That, is it.
I can see that, too. If I feel forced to be part of a system, then I’m gonna work within it to make it less likely that I get screwed over.
My point was not so much to disengage from the system as it is, but to highlight that it seems the concept of liberty itself isn’t part of the general population anymore (if it ever truly was).
Insofar as “none of the above” being an actual option, I readily admit that it’s just not really available to us, and may never be. Just wish more people would consider it.
“the concept of liberty itself isn’t part of the general population anymore (if it ever truly was).”
Yeah, I don’t know how much it ever was, at least in the last 100 years or so.
However, I have a theory about what’s happened in the last 25 years or so. When the Rs got elected in 1994, many people who voted for them thought the politicians really believed in limited government. Whether they did or didn’t they certainly didn’t act that way. Republican voted for W hoping/believing he was for limited government but he sold them out (not in the wars which most Rs supported but with big government programs). They stuck with him because they thought Kerry and the Dems were too soft on terrorism.
Republican voters were, largely, disgusted by the bailouts in 2008 which led to the Tea Party movement which drove the Red Wave in 2010. But once again, most of the Rs sold their voters down the river within a year or two. So a lot of conservatives started wondering if it was worthwhile sticking with limited government if no one ever brought it about. Along comes Trump saying, essentially, you’ve been screwed over for 20/30/40 years and I want to re-dress the scales. And a lot of conservatives gave up on limited government in exchange for a president who would support their issues.
So now the presidency, for many people (and I exclude a lot of pro-Trump people here from this opinion), has become a contest over which candidate can persuade a majority that s/he will give them what they want.
Good thoughts.
I guess If ya can’t beat ’em, join ’em has always been a thing.
My circles tend not to overlap. They’re mostly Repub (family and connections to them, previous coworkers) and Dem/Prog (current work, community groups, etc.). I have definitely seen a shift in the first circle to what you’re describing, where it’s become much more “ima get mine” and “in b4 the crash” sort of thinking, rather than “keep gov’t limited.”
So you’ll drink half a glass of poison rather than a full glass of poison?
What, exactly, is the alternative? I’m not being facetious.
Vote for Team Red = poison
Vote for Team Blue = poison
Vote for the pothead = poison
Vote for anybody else = poison
Don’t vote = poison
I’m willing to consider what the alternative to drinking the poison is.
Everyone living their lives in the manner they see fit (so long as they don’t initiate aggression) and not providing the government the power to change that no matter who happens to hold the reins. THAT’s not poison. That’s liberty.
My mother said a very wise thing to me once, which I have carried ever since: “Why do you base your goals on decisions other people have to make?”
See, you’re basing your goals/dreams/wishes on SHOULD rather than IS, and you’re depending on decisions other people have to make. Too many of those people do not want you to live in the manner you see fit and the number of those people is growing, and they vote for people who will force you, at the point of a gun, to drink the poison.
Pointing at people who vote and saying, “So…drinking a full glass of poison versus a half a glass of poison” isn’t at all congruous with the situation. The only choice is to drink it or force your mouth to be pried open and have it poured in.
That is indeed liberty. It’s also not on the ballot and wouldn’t win even if it was.
Yes, I’m speaking of the way things SHOULD be.
Which world do you want to live in? The one that IS, or the one that SHOULD be?
The only thing voting for the lesser of two evils buys you is more of the same (and maybe insignificantly prolong the certain collapse). If you like how shit is, have a nut. I refuse to be a participant in my own destruction.
Should be’s are nice, I will agree.
Okay. And? How does not participating make you any safer from what IS and give you more of what SHOULD be?
You just get to say, “Don’t look at me, I didn’t vote for any of those clowns” and call it good?
Correct.
Who says I don’t participate?
I just don’t vote for the lesser of two evils.
Perhaps if more people voted IAW their principles there would be more than the two options of a glass of poison or half a glass of poison? Voting R or D perpetuates the status quo. If you think things are hunky dory, by all means, keep up the good work.
Which world do you want to live in?
The one where I have all the power and nobody else can make me do anything. I’d be a benevolent SUPREME OVERLORD, but none would dare cross me.
Libertopia is no less of a fantasy than that. Holding your breath for libertopia accomplishes nothing except turning your face blue.
Not to say that voting accomplishes much more. The contribution is de minimus and any true preference for liberty gets lost in the noise.
I guess what I’m saying is do what makes you feel good, because you get 99.999999999999% of the benefit from participating or not participating. Society gets the dregs.
And if you think your way is working, by all means, do continue.
The only things politicians are good at is giving the electorate exactly what they ask for. The only reason MY WAY isn’t working is because of the people willing to drink half a glass of poison.
Every “libertarian” here who voted for Trump is the problem.
That clarifies things.
Every “libertarian” here who voted for Trump is the problem.
And that’s worth a “Fuck Off”
If every libertarian voted for Jo she’d have received 5% tops and the only difference today would be that we may actually know who the president will be. The original point still stands. The number of people interested in true liberty are a minuscule portion of the population. Until that changes we’re stuck.
And how many states came down to less than 5 percentage points?
The difference would be that if one of the parties wants our election deciding 5% of the vote, they’d better start sucking our dicks. As it stands, all the “libertarians” can be counted on to tow the two party lion. So, in four years, you can count on more of the same
sovereign citizenship!!! 11!!eleventy!!
Liberty for me (and mine) but not for thee (and thine) has been the common popular position ever since liberty (of a sort) became a popular concept in ancient Greece. It’s how we got republican slave states and republican empires that cared deeply for the rights of their citizens and no one else.
“Am I the only one here convinced that the country just needs to be broken up at this point?”
I was convinced of that at least 5 years go, and there are posts here and on TOS to prove it.
I made multiple posts at TOS about the states comprising the Louisiana Purchase splitting off into a new country. And we can let a few adjacent states join in as well. Basically you take everything between the Mississippi and the Rockies.
I want the south as well. Extradite all the commies to Minnesoda and Canuckistan. Give them their commie dreams. Then blame Canada and invade, no quarter.
Give them their commie dreams.
But, that’s just it. A break-up wouldn’t be just good for one side. The progressives bitch all the time about how our “archaic system” allows a minority to thwart their enlightened plans for national salvation. This ends that. They get their own nation and can run it like Canada or Sweden or whatever their little hearts desire. No more interference from the rednecks.
And there’s no reason to believe the two nations wouldn’t have the most cordial relations imaginable. Geopolitically, their interests coincide quite well. And I wish them all the happiness in the world with their separate nation.
It’s only keeping the two peoples tied at the hip that causes the friction.
Some of us are asset-locked to Virginia and would be orphaned in that arrangement.
I wouldn’t look forward to a firesale while trying to flee.
And the 8,000,000 lb gorilla in the room for that discussion is what happens with the military and its bases.
But even within the blue states, most counties are red.
MD 16 counties for Trump, 7 for Biden.
And Trump gets 20% of the vote.
We’re going to have to break up states by counties, electorally.
I feel really bad for VA because most of the state are being totally fucked over by the NOVA DC overflow. They have no voice in their own government.
And the dems want to undo the electoral college to make that rule nationwide.
I don’t have to try to figure out who is the most evil when it’s blatantly obvious.
We need the big cities to become city-states. I don’t want to be ruled by those fucks, and I understand that they don’t want to be ruled by me either. There is no neat geographic divide to be made here since the division is entirely urban/rural in nature, with some suburbs landing on the rural side sociopolitcally and some on the urban side. So the only thing that makes logical sense is that the huge cities become a series of city-states, probably in alliance with one another.
Or you can also allow secession by counties at the state level.
What about the third of us, at least in my neighborhood, who live in the big city and don’t want to be ruled by commies? And don’t want to move?
Um, you’re screwed? I don’t know. There aren’t any great answers here. What I wish (fruitlessly, no doubt) for is the best possible outcome that avoids bloodshed.
I don’t want to move either, but I suspect I will be doing exactly that sometime in the next five years because this place is not for me anymore.
You get fucked along with the rest of us?
Just think of it as living in an unusually well-armed HOA.
I think it’s too late for you, Rhywun. You can leave NY and get out of it for a few years until NYers move to your state and fuck everything up there also.
The split is between urban and exurban areas. How exactly do you break that up?
And how do the urban areas eat?
The thing is, I don’t want to live in either country that will result.
How, exactly would that work? Blue sates join Country Blue and Red States Join Country Red?
What about the large minority of Democrats in Red states (or vise versa)? They just supposed to pack up and move? Just because a given state has a majority of Blue voters doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a large minority of Red voters. Do we just throw them to the communist wolves?
Splitting up solves nothing.
No, it gives an option that otherwise doesn’t exist. Sure it sucks that a reddie in a Blulandia would have to move to get reddie goodness, but in what possible scenario is that worse than the reddie not being able to leave Blulandia in the first place because everywhere is Blulandia?
The people who are truly fucked in a split situation are the people who are unwilling or unable to leave. They’re stuck on an accelerating train ride towards the consequences of the prevailing worldview, and until they’re willing to do what must be done in order to leave, they’re at the mercy of the majority.
Except that they’re at the mercy of the majority as part of the status quo. Still not seeing any downside to division.
California versus North Carolina.
California (deep blue, hostile to anybody right of Lenin) is what national divorce looks like. North Carolina (purple, relatively uncontentious) doesn’t last long after a national divorce.
But they’re not going to move. That’s their home. It’s the same result as the British cartographers fucking up the entire world. People aren’t going to move from their homes because somebody draws a line on a fucking map. They will go to war, first. See the ME
So they choose not to move. They’re stuck being the minority wit ha government that is hostile towards them. Which is the status quo ante. How is their life any worse?
And I’m very unconvinced that they average American’s love of their home soil (at the state level) is anywhere in the same league as in other parts of the world. What fraction of the US even identifies with their state?
I would fight to the death over it. I’ve spent my entire adult life working towards being EXACTLY where I am now.
Me. I couldn’t care less about Murcia. I’m ride or die for the sunshine state.
No offense, but your state is the least appealing place I’ve ever been to. Well, the keys are OK, but the rest is like Louisiana but with worse food.
People aren’t going to move from their homes because somebody draws a line on a fucking map.
Sometimes they do. The population transfers between Pakistan and India shortly after independence being the prime example (Hindus moving to the Hindu country, Muslims to the Muslim country, both categories in the millions). Although transfers like that usually do follow a war (Greek/Turk transfers after their war and a genocide, the Eastern European shuffle after WWII, etc), so I guess on balance you are right.
Splitting up solves nothing.
It prevents the contagion from fucking California from spreading to the part of the country that I actually care about.
I’m willing to bet that contagion already exists where you live. What you mean to say is that 51% of your state gets to tell the 49% (or whatever the numbers are) how to live their lives.
Majority rules isn’t a solution.
Allowing people to live however they see fit (provided they don’t initiate aggression) IS the solution. The solution is to take away the ability of government to impose its will on the citizenry. And thereby eliminating any impetus for anyone to attempt to control others by voting.
This is of course correct. And also in this ideal world I’d have a harem of clones of young Hedy Lamar, Mira Sorvino, Salma Hayek, and Mami van Doren.
Unfortunately, in this world a majority of people have decided that they believe in Majority Rules.
Allowing people to live however they see fit (provided they don’t initiate aggression) IS the solution.
It’s also a non-starter. National divorce may be on the border of non-starter, too, but it’s drifting closer to the Overton window with each passing week.
I feel like I just answered this question. But no, you are not the only one. I do not want to co-exist with these Marxist idiots.
Splitting up solves nothing.
Neither does not splitting up.
It has the benefit of protecting the minority Red folks in Blue states from full blown tyranny (via constitutional protections). Once you throw them to the wolves, they’re completely fucked.
And the notion that the new Country Red states won’t simply splinter again along some other lines is wishful thinking.
People with different viewpoints can live together PROVIDED neither side can use the government gun to dictate their terms. It’s not about picking the “correct” side. It’s about not giving power to dictate terms to others.
F d’A is absolutely right. It’s an extremely high standard, but we can all live together if we stop insisting on controlling each other’s lives.
And by “we” I mean “all those people who insist on controlling others’ lives.”
People with different viewpoints can live together PROVIDED neither side can use the government gun to dictate their terms. It’s not about picking the “correct” side. It’s about not giving power to dictate terms to others.
Except for a huge number of people desire to live a society where the government gun is used to dictate terms to others. Forcing them to live in a society without that government force is doomed to fail and probably even morally wrong.
The best approach is to give people options on where to live. Some will choose to live under the government gun and that’s their [stupid] call. I find it inexplicable that anyone would voluntarily live in a HOA but plenty wouldn’t choose to live anywhere else. I would rather live somewhere without the government gun. Split this shit up peacefully and let everyone make their own choice.
So that it’ll divide again between the Yellows and the Greens. And then you can split it up again. And again…
It’s not peaceful if you’re forcing me to choose between where I want to live and having rights (which is the same). Limit power.
And yet, more realistic thinking than the idea that a government won’t reward the people who support it by giving them the power to oppress their outgroup.
Don’t get me wrong, when my neurochemistry is in a different blend I believe in that as well.
People with different viewpoints can live together PROVIDED neither side can use the government gun to dictate their terms.
Hey, I’ve got an even better idea. Let’s wave our magic wands to make them all see the libertarian light! What’s that you say? There are no magic wands to do that? Yeah, and there isn’t a sufficiently large constituency interested in putting aside the government gun. So, what are the options actually on the table? From where I’m sitting it’s full blown tyranny of the majority everywhere or at least letting some places be spared. We’re out of truly good options. One can at least hope that the theoretical “red nation” might be sufficiently decentralized that further splintering would be unnecessary.
Trump will (and should) fight it in the courts. Trump’s whole career has been in courts so I can see if they say you lose, he will go, albeit petulantly.
If Courts refuse to hear the cases, then we have “two presidents” as people will not accept that.
If courts swing to Trump, lefties will explode and move to #5/6 of trashys thought of ED violence.
I had to solve a white man’s math problem to sign in. This site is systemically racist.

Teams compete to win a stimulus package that will insure they will vote _________for the next _________ years.
Am I the only one here convinced that the country just needs to be broken up at this point? It’s painfully obvious we’re no longer one people with a common culture, values, worldviews or interests, but at least two and probably more.
Easier said than done, absent large relocating large numbers of people.
As I’m sure you already know, there a lots and lots of “reds” on the Pacific coast, just as there are lots and lots of “blues” in the Mountain West.
Yes, there are. But, is population swap really worse than where we seem to be going? I don’t see the split between the peoples of the United States “healing”. I only see it growing more pronounced. It can only fester for so long before it winds up becoming violent.
The country will naturally heal as long as those racist inbred redneck hicks STFU and do what they’re told!
I think you missed the part about getting onto the cattle cars to the camps politely.
It’s already started becoming violent.
Bend OR says hello.
The population 4x of what it was when I was young depresses the hell out of me. I remember when it was smaller than Redmond is now. The leftist influx got rid of their carpetbagger RINO last night as well.
Family has gone camping in that area (closer to LaPine) since I was a kid.
Went back last year after having been away since late-2000’s, and it was nuts how much bigger Bend was in just that time.
I first visited that area in the late 90s to install a ski lift at Hoodoo. Sisters was a quaint little town and Redmond wasn’t much bigger. I have work at Hoodoo every couple of years and I note how much more building there has been and how much worse the traffic is.
Sisters still feels relatively small to me, but is the gateway to/from the Cascades for that part of the state, and seems to have never planned for traffic accordingly. Took a while to drive through last year out of Bend going to the coast.
It is small. Tiny still but a lot of the development in Sisters is kind of hidden from the highway. There’s a little SE of town along Hwy 20 but large subdivisions of development south of the McDonalds at the west end of town.
Yeah, my family in Terrebonne is looking to move further ‘inland’ to get away from the crazies moving into Bend and Redmond. The problem is that migration like that just further assures we cede control at the federal level.
I dont want to bend o’r
Large, I sez.
What will be interesting is when NV decides that they will release the rest of their votes tomorrow. If it ALL goes to Joe (as they have been in other states), my wife and neighbors will need to contact Trump’s legal team.
Here we are! Now entertain us!
I feel stupid and contagious
Load up on guns, and bring your friends
Its fun to lose and to pretend.
But, is population swap really worse than where we seem to be going?
Excellent question. [serious]
And think of the economic stimulus! [not so serious]
The Dow is up.
A gridlock-is-good rally, I suspect.
Wall Street doesn’t want gridlock. They want a Dem sweep that will pass a blowout stimulus package which includes massive bailouts for blue states. The Dow being up means Wall Street thinks Biden is going to win.
This was a massive win for wall street Republicans too.
1) Hold the Senate.
2) Gain a tiny amount in the House.
3) Lose Donald Trump as leader of the Republican Party (who was outperformed by average Republicans).
I’m afraid there might be truth in that. The Dems have helped remove much of the risk for entrepreneurs (also for pure speculators) which can be a dangerous precedent. Price signals are so mid-set that they mean nothing.
the thought of the muni’s getting bailed out after the shit they pulled off this year pisses me off to a level I never realized possible. God help us if the only thing standing against that is a fucking susan collins vote.
Yeah. It better not get that close.
God help us if the only thing standing against that is a fucking susan collins vote.
I believe there are procedural methods the Senate can use to prevent this. If Cocaine Mitch considers his caucus wobbly, he can block a measure from going to the floor (like he did with the nomination of Garland). Although, that could be countered by voting someone else as leader.
This. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that the banking industry leans conservative just because most of them dress like a media caricature of a Typical Republican. The banks want bailouts and unending debt service, and they know full well which party they’re likely to get it from.
“which includes massive bailouts for blue states”
In my hopes and dreams, that’s what causes the National Divorce. Abbot and DeSantis absolutely refuse to send their people’s tax revenues to IL and CT and NJ public sector unions.
The Dow being up means Wall Street thinks Biden is going to win.
Based on the current map, he is. He’s at 248, and leads in states with 24 more votes.
Trump is at 214, and would have to flip a state where BIden leads.
It absolutely is.
“ filed out to the rhythmic clattering of Rudy’s manipulatory phalanges.”
Just perfect. Vivid mental image.
I like the hat falling on its side panting, too
Bravo. I think the most disappointing thing about the probable Biden win is an end to H&H.
Although, maybe we can get a spinoff series about Biden?
Boo. I didn’t think of that.
Talk about kicking us when we’re down…
I think SF is sitting on a goldmine here. The available opportunities to lampoon the left will be endless.
The problem is that when Twitter and FB are given total control of the internet, the site will be banned on day one.
Nah, this got started during the clown car elephant primary. Biden is too mundane to provide proper inspiration.
Maybe a Bad Lip Reading where there isn’t actually any voiceover?
“probable Biden win”
Theft!
“Succession”
We punt CA and this is all entirely moot
How about a Biden delusional world where he talks to a little devil (A Corn Pop kernel) and angel (Jack the pool chain) on his shoulder. Colonel Pop and Jacky Chain.
Trump should nuke China before he gets out. Discuss.
OK, that’s it, CNN, now eat your Eel Pie.
I think you need a drink
I did eat a very nice but overpriced piece of tuna for dinner

Like anyone there would notice the difference.
This will be Biden day #1 https://youtu.be/JJ79nNquQ0c
Okay that was optimistic, he wants to go door to door and grab em.
So.
Biden wins.
Biden gets kicked to the curb by March. Probably citing corruption or he just takes a happy pill to save Hunter.
Harris is in. Doesn’t have the senate.
Dictatorial lockdowns enforced though Federal agencies or funds withholding(?)
No big bailout for all of the renters, landlords, cities, states, business unless she can somehow bribe the Senate. I don’t see that happening.
Market crash.
Continued lock downs heavily enforced in metro areas.
… actual fucking revolution?
I predict none of those except maybe too much in the way of lockdowns. That’s going to be annoying. But also roundly ignored and fought by red states.
I think they just wanted power mainly, though, and will be mostly ineffectual.
With how bad the Dems have skin-suited and weaponized the alphabet agencies, I don’ think it’s a stretch to see some pretty heavy handed force being used by Harris or whatever puppet hand is up Joe at the time.
One of the biggest things that’s bothering me about a Biden victory is how quickly the corruption is going to get memory holed. It seems like we just finally got to glimpse the tips of the icebergs.
But also roundly ignored and fought by red states.
Yeah, if the red states choose to fight/ignore it (which they might), there’s no way a lockdown is enforceable.
I still think COVID will go quietly away, having served its purpose.
The country has acknowledged the truth that there are five lights, and now the benevolent Cardassians can get on with the business of government.
come on. Covid was not solely an anti trump thing. Europe is freaking out on it’s very own. And it is a good test to see how much shit the people are willing to eat
The same globalist commie fucks are running Europe that are running things here.
This is all bout Trump regardless of where it’s happening. Or rather it’s about deplorables who would dare vote for a non-globalist like Trump.
I think that’s possible too. They got what they wanted.
Now take credit when things get better.
Basic politics.
I think that’s possible too. They got what they wanted.
Now take credit when things get better.
Basic politics.
“I still think COVID will go quietly away, having served its purpose.”
Not until you deplorables learn your lesson good and hard. The it goes away and senile jo saves the day.
I agree with this assessment. It’s too big of a cudgel for the Dems to resist. One of he biggest arguments I had for voting for Trump was, He never seized power. He could’ve easily declared some pretty horrible things using the Corona Virus, but he didn’t. Team Biden not only has a history of authoritarianism and corruption, they literally campaigned on it.
Promises kept?
Not only that, but there is already some evidence that fear of covid was an important factor in Biden winning. He can’t just make it go away but saying, “oops, we were wrong, covid’s not a big deal.”
No, the plan is in and clear. We get locked down fucking hard for maybe 6 months and then they magically declare victory over the vid. But, we had better of learned our lesson. We can never go back to the old normal. Mask will be forever, social distancing will be forever, but if we are good comrades, we can be let out of our house on occasion and gruel rations may increase.
He doesn’t need to make it go away. The media just as to stop covering it.
Honestly, if the media wasn’t covering it, would you know there was a pandemic? If they just stopped talking about it, the way they stopped talking about war protesters when Obama took over, then pandemania would be over.
I honestly already think it’s going away here in Texas. The media is barely covering it. We’re wide open except for large events and we’re not all dying.
So, whatever.
Biden obviously lost the election. If they manage to steal it for him, it will be a short and unpleasant Presidency.
By the time this is over, Republicans might actually pick up a seat or two in the Senate, so Biden / Harris aren’t getting crap done in Congress.
National lockdowns would get slapped down hard and fast by the Supreme Court and there won’t be any “packing”.
I think it was Sugarfee who predicted right here on this site, that a Biden admin would be a non-stop clusterfuck on a historic level.
I’m sorry if I’m trying to quote you out of context, SF, feel free to correct me on that.
I like the cut of your glib.
People’s faith that a razor thin Repub Senate margin, without a President to stiffen its spine, will be effective in slowing down the Dems is touching.
I mean, their spines did seem to be fairly stiff when facing off against Obama/Biden. I can’t imagine facing Biden/Harris will make them more pliable. Could always be wrong, but O’Connell did make a point in his speech how he’s the only party leader who represents the heartland instead of the coasts, so if they give him the reins again I can see him continuing to be obstinate.
McConnell, not O’Connell. All them Irish look the same.
OK, time for fun and ridiculous conspiracy theories.
The election ends with the results being as they stand right now, Biden ahead 270-268.
Then, a shadowy cabal of anti-Trump Republicans springs into action. Through back channels, they bribe one of the Biden electors to vote for Bernie. Or maybe they convince Hillary to vote for herself (she’s an elector from NY), on the false promise that the House can deliver her what is rightfully hers. This throws the election to the House, where sufficient Republicans are bribed to abstain (two or three state delegations at most). This throws the election to the Senate, which votes Pence as president, thereby achieving a non-Trump Republican in the office.
Or, a faithless Biden elector votes for Kanye. The House, after deadlocking on choosing a president for months, decides at the last moment that Kanye is the bipartisan compromise they need, and he is voted president.
Or, a faithless elector is encouraged by STEVE SMITH to vote for STEVE SMITH. STEVE SMITH then encourages the House to unanimously acclaim him president. Cascadia is freed. Many hikers are also “freed”.
I don’t think it takes a conspiracy theory…just one elector who doesn’t understand the rules and things 269-268 is good enough.
Or one elector who loves chaos.
If I was an elector, I would have trouble avoiding going rogue just to see the world burn.
I could see an elector who dislikes Kamala going rogue and we end up with Biden/Pence.
You are right, and in fact all it would take is one elector being an idiot. In 2004 one of the Dem electors from MN accidentally wrote in John Edwards for president instead of vice president, and there were no backsies. What a shitshow that would be if something happened like that in a 270-268 scenario.
BY ENCOURAGE, MEAN…
Getting the Green Party off the WI ballot was an masterstroke. Well done to the Democrats.
Some bright news
‘Dumpster fire’: House Democrats trade blame after Tuesday’s damage
In the House, bleary-eyed Democrats were still sorting out the wreckage when they awoke Wednesday with dozens of their members’ races still uncalled and not a single GOP incumbent ousted — an outcome that virtually no one in the party had predicted in a year in which Democrats were going on the offense deep in Trump country.
But by Wednesday morning, party officials and the rank and file were in panic mode as they awaited the results of nearly 20 members of the Democrats’ historic freshman class that handed the party control of the House just two years ago. And already they were saying goodbye to at least a half-dozen of their centrist Democratic colleagues, who were stunned by GOP challengers on Tuesday, including Abby Finkenauer in Iowa and Donna Shalala in Florida.
I did my part to dump Finkenauer.
We didn’t go far enough left yet, but here, hold my beer…
People voting for Republicans is a clear indication that they want more socialist candidates. Duh.
On a cheerier note, these guys just sent me a reminder:

Masks now mandated outdoors in MA regardless of distancing. How will this reduce infections? Most transmission is happening indoors, so ensure people have safer spaces to gather: tents, heat lamps, fire pits. Focus on actual risk, not pandemic theater.
Epidemiologist and associate professor @harvardmed

Perusing her timeline, she’s certainly a Lefty, but her views on the masks and lockdowns would be at home here.
“Everyone is conservative about what he knows best.”
Focus on actual risk? LOL.
I bet the ‘security theater’ folks from 2001-on are feeling a bit like Cassandra right now. I know I am.
Aye. Anyone under the age of 25 is too young to remember why they have to take their shoes off at the airport.
I mentioned this in the other thread, but whenever I bring up Richard Reid WRT the masks, nobody remembers who he is. It will be 19 years ago next month.
People need to understand, if they’re not okay with wearing these masks for the rest of their lives, they better say so right now.
they’re not okay with wearing these masks for the rest of their lives, they better say so right now
That’s been one of the (small) inroads I’ve had speaking with people that currently support the mask mandates. If this is just about “reducing risk” and “making sure we don’t infect others even if I have no symptoms,” then why would they not support wearing masks forever and always? The same reasons apply.
I’ve had a few do a bit of a pause on that. A few.
I have a gum surgery scheduled for tomorrow. An unpleasant, expensive procedure that will take about 10 days to heal. I’ve already had it 4 or 5 times–not in the same area, of course. But I will go along with this only if I am not required to wear a face mask. Not a single second in the waiting area. I won’t be terribly upset if the surgery is a no-go tomorrow. Not at all. On the other hand, I’ve managed to do a lot of things without a mask in the last six months.
https://www.pressherald.com/2020/11/04/collins-maintaining-lead-over-gideon-in-senate-race/
Republican Sen. Susan Collins won Maine’s high-profile U.S. Senate race on Wednesday, defeating Democrat Sara Gideon in a contest that saw unprecedented spending as part of the national battle for control in Washington.
In a speech to supporters outside of a Bangor hotel, Collins said Gideon had called her to concede the hard-fought race. Unofficial election results show Collins leading Gideon 51 percent to 42 percent with 85 percent of precincts reporting. The two independents in the race, Lisa Savage and Max Linn, received 5 percent and 2 percent of the vote, respectively.
“Republican”
Hehe. The best news of this election is that a commie light won re-election.
Also Graham won in SC despite his opponent spending approximately 3x the world GDP on the race (all raised out of state).
I am not a Graham fan, at all, so I’m not elated by that news either. Little warmonger fucktard.
I voted **null** in that race. The Constitution Party candidate on the ballot had dropped out and endorsed Graham when Harrison’s numbers got close.
The Constitution Party candidate on the ballot had dropped out and endorsed Graham when Harrison’s numbers got close.
And that race was another one to throw cold water on the polls, as Graham ended up with an 11 point lead.
If Graham spends the next four years investigating the Biden corruption scandals, it will have been worth it.
It’s looking a high probability that I will be living in SC this time next year. The only other probability remaining is TN, or FL if I can get my wife to top obsessing about gators.
There are gators in SC. Every puddle east of I-95 has a gator in it. We have a bunch in our neighborhood.
This is the largest in my neighborhood. My daughter named him. When they get over 7 ft, animal control moves them up to Lake Moultrie next to Moncks Corner.
Crunchy<
There are gators up in Greenville? I doubt that.
No, Greenville should be gator free.
They live in the low country.
Someone was mentioning moving to Moncks Corner, that is why I thru that tidbit in.
s/thru/threw/
We’re only looking in Greenville area. It’s either that or TN. Unless for some crazy reason we decide on FL. My brother lives near Ocala. I’m wondering what the AC bill looks like there and if I can find anything not built over an enormous unidentified sinkhole.
Alligators are found farther north than SC. They exist in NC. Alligator attacks kayaker in North Carolina.
It’s a little funny to me that they spent so much money to beat someone who just has a different next to their name but basically thinks like them.
“In”
I’m glad she won, even though she’s a squish. The whole reason the Dems got fired up to go after her was because she supported Kavanaugh, and this is another rebuke to that whole hysteria.
That’s true.
Although she “baaaaaaaaaaaarely” supported Kavanaugh. Hemmed and hawed the whole fucking time and we had to have a big circus about it.
Also true, but keep in mind that she was the deciding vote.
So, third parties had a dismal showing compared to last time, but I guess 2016 was more of an aberration as the numbers this time are pretty close to 2008. The Libertarian party is down 3M votes (total is 1.4M so far) and the Greens are down 1.2M votes (total is 200K so far). Kanye West is in 5th place with a measly 60K, barely ahead of some 3rd parties I’ve never heard of (the Alliance part and the Socialism and Liberation party).
That’s because it was the most important election of all time, bro.
Dems kicked the Greens off the ballot in WI. How many other states did they do that in?
Also Graham won in SC despite his opponent spending approximately 3x the world GDP on the race (all raised out of state).
Not sure how that happened.
We had a president who mostly left us alone and did not start any new wars.
That shit is over now. If I were a poor goat herder in the Middle East right now, I’d start digging tunnels into nearby mountains to try and survive the next round of US warmongering. Because it’s going to be a doozy. And the left cheer enthusiastically.
The good news is that I now work for a conglomerations that sells lots of military hardware to FedGov. Business is good and getting better.
fuck my life
There’s a reason that NOVA is now the biggest boom town in all of history. There is nowhere else you have even been or will be, where malls and restaurants are packed full at 11PM on weekdays. Even with the vid.
Panem on the Potomac. Let the hunger games begin.
What is it 6 of the wealthiest 10 counties in America are DC suburbs? The rest of the 10 are Wall Street and Silicon Valley I believe.
That’s at least close. I think the wealthiest 3 or 4 are indeed DC burbs. All probably due to defense contractors.
There’s big money in war. War, war never changes.
Something like that, yeah. All that wealth for a metro area with no valuable natural resources or industrial capacity – just endless glass-encased office parks.
alls good in capital city.
Dude. The president can’t start any new wars without the consent of Congress.
Hahahahaha… I crack myself up.
Bet your favorite lefty friend ten bucks that, under a Biden/Harris administration, the U.S. will be in at least one new foreign war in the next four years. Study the puzzled look on his/her face as his/her internal monologue says, “Nuh uh. The Dems are the party of peace and tolerance.”
Did she scream it at you or punch you? See peace and tolerance duh
Four years? They won’t make it through February
Another bright spot is how much money Bloomberg spent in Florida, and Hollywood celebrities spent in Texas, and it was all wasted.
Looks like Fox News is victim to some sort of cyber attack.
good for them
Cloudflare reserves the right to withdraw its services at any time it discovers its client is a nazi.
They started talking about election cheating and their Soros backed masters shut them down.
Somebody called into Kilmeade this morning and was about to go into a rant about Fox and Kilmeade went to commercial before the guy could finish his sentence.
It appears Tucker is the only one who can get away with criticizing his masters.
It loads fine for me now, assuming you mean foxnews.com.
Still down for me.
138,339 ballots magically appear in MI, and they’re all Biden votes. Verified?
This whole thing stinks. Georgia is even worse with the burst pipe story.
There’s video on MAGA Twitter of various Trump poll watchers being shooed out of the counting room or barred from the precinct on E-Day.
The whole thing fucking stinks.
We all knew this is was a possible outcome. It was discussed here earlier this year, with all the mail in confusion and “found” ballots.
The cheating and fraud was going to be off the charts. Recounts are going to be interesting.
The obvious thing to start with is mail-in ballots of people who haven’t voted in several cycles. WI has 15% higher turnout than it did last time. That stinks, that stinks a lot.
How many people, when a GOP and Dem lawyer visit them to ask if they cast a mailin ballot say they did not, and how many of those are Biden votes.
Pennsylvania was at 14.5% I believe. Trump is getting way more votes there than he did last time.
Welcome to the People’s Democratic Republic of Michiganzuela
Agree with the sentiment but this is kindof a stretch. ///DoBetter
Miracle: Ballot Counter Turns 5 Biden Votes Into 5,000
Fox News Calls Arizona For Biden After 1 Vote Counted
The AP electoral college tracker has called AZ and WI for Biden.
How? There are still 600k ballots outstanding according to this..
https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/elections/2020/11/04/least-400-k-ballots-left-count-arizona-republic-estimates-and-number-certainly-higher/6157997002/
FTA: At least 600,000 ballots remained to be counted in Arizona as of 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to an Arizona Republic survey of country recorders.
The gap in AZ is around 90,000 votes. That’s a decent lead. Trump would need to pick up 2/3 of the outstanding ballots, which seems a stretch.
Even ABC has moved to a toss up unless something changed in 30 minutes.
So I guess the forum didn’t work out?
That would make me very sad.

I subscribed then got 30 emails, then unsubscribed and never went back.
Boo poo. Partisan trash Sullivan is furious because his whims aren’t being danced to. Do your fucking job and dismiss the Flynn charges, asswipe.

So, now Democrats are concerned about the post-office doing work? I’m not clear what the complaints are about – if someone requested a ballot and didn’t receive they still had ample opportunity to vote.
I think it’s the return to the elections offices.
Someone needs to explain why Florida, with the third largest population, can quickly get the votes tallied without any controversies while smaller states such as Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan have all of these stops, starts, and random late surges of votes.
FYTW is the only explainer. Those are the States the Dems targeted and were able to manipulate voting mechanisms and laws at the 11th hour.
I am more and more in favor of a caucusish style election. Everyone in one precinct gathers at same time, say a 2 hr block, and signs in, collects ballot, votes in secret, and precinct machines produce results while everyone is still there.
Vacate building, bring in next precinct. You could do about 6 per site in a day. If election day is going to be a holiday anyway, no reason not to do this.
That reduces fraud, cannot compute….error….error.
That’s just old-fashioned – you at-least need to have an app – worked for Mayor Pete!
It’s a goddamn mystery, it is.
Hell, Alaska is only 45 percent counted, and they only have a few hundred K to count.
A moose swallowed the remaining ballots and they’re waiting for the bowel movement.
I think the state is full scantron now. Even a recount should go pretty fast if needed, plus unless the vote machine is hacked, it’s pretty easy to certify the results.
Portland went with the balls-less mayor over the antifa candidate. This time.
Meanwhile, antifa is openly carrying firearms during their marching

Why does her campaign logo depict “downward and to the left”?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Arrows
Yet she’s almost explicitly communist.
Well, the original logo was of the Iron Front, which was opposed by [classic german] Antifa. Don’t let the actual historical usage get in the way of feels!
Liquor Stores Win The 2020 Election
There are several other industries expecting big wins coming out of the election as well. Food distributors are stocking up on cheesecake and ice cream in case of a Trump win, and gun manufacturers are stocking up on ammo in case of a Biden win.
Smith & Wesson is offering an election value pack that includes a cheesecake, an assault rifle, and a liter of Jack Daniels. According to sources, they sold out in 12 seconds.
Jesse Ventura was running as a Green Party candidate in Alaska?
The vote counting can resume now. They found enough ballots in Broward County FL to give Biden WI.
Eating lunch at my desk today, I had an olive escape the plate and roll somewhere. I can’t find the damn thing. This is how you get ants.
set out a martini and it will naturally migrate to its home environment.
??
Smart.
But only ants with good taste. If you can fid the ants, bon appetit!

I thought the takedown was the punishment doled out for boys being boys. Has anyone seen HM or Ayn Rand today? Yeah, that’s what I thought. The beating will continue until moral improves.
Looks like he punishment is no PM Lynx.
So, SP has not recovered from Mum mode yet?
I’ll be banned soon, it comes with the territory.

Elections to the U.S. Senate will be held on November 8, 2022, and 34 of the 100 seats are up for regular election. Special elections may be held to fill vacancies that occur in the 117th Congress.
Of the 34 regularly scheduled elections in 2022, 12 seats were held by Democrats and 22 were held by Republicans as of November 2020.
This is bad news.
Maybe not after the disaster that will be the Biden/Harris admin.
Democrat may have a solution for that. Just sayin.
“Democrat(s)”
The 22 Republicans are in AK, ID, UT, ND SD NE OK WI IA MO AK LA IN OH KY PA NC SC AL FL.
I’d say the real issue there is actually that there’s no Democrats in a vulnerable seat. The closest thing you have to a potential flip is NV or CO, and that’s stretching the definition of flip to an insane degree.
IA would be Grassley who is really really old. So that seat could be in play if he decides to retire.
The haxx0rz stole our PM links!
Shut up, you are being punished. And don’t ask why or you will be punished more.
You’re Gov. Whitmer?

THERE IS NO CANNIBALISM IN THE ROYAL NAVY
Arizona has been yanked from Biden and is back in play. Someone incorrectly reported the % vote totals and in person ballots are still being counted .
Michigan has blocked the GOP from monitoring ballot counting and Trump has sued to halt counting.
