IFLA: The Edition of the Horoscope for the Week of January 22

by | Jan 24, 2021 | IFLA | 67 comments

The week starts off like last week:  the government having dominon over domestic life (Jupiter – Sun – Earth).  That will break apart later in the week in a way that will be described shortly.  At the end of the week, things get wacky.  Something big happens Friday, Saturday, Friday going into Saturday or possibly both days.  It’s tricky when things happen close together as to whether or not they are separate events or parts of a larger one.  On Friday, Jupiter moves out of alignment with the Sun and Earth at the same time as the Moon moves in opposite the sun.  I’ve mentioned this before but that particular alignment is classically read as having dominion over yourself or home etc.  And since it’s coupled with Jupiter (rulership/government) moving away, in this case it’s a pretty clear sign of taking back control of ones personal affairs from the Royal Edicts.  I’m predicting more businesses either defying or being released from lockdown orders then.  Now the moon moves really flipping fast, so it’s less of an influence than a sign, and as it moves past, we see a new alignment of the Sun with Mercury and Mars.  If this a part of a larger pattern, then it’s en tierce with what we were just discussing.  But I’m thinking it’s not.  So taking it in isolation, we see luck/change/disorder applied to military affairs or masculine pursuits.  If it were part of the previous events then… well, I’m not going to say since I don’t want TPTB getting visits from our good and valued public servants.

It is the dawning of the month of Aquarius, and frankly it’s going to rock.  Maybe not right now, but you’ve got not only the typical Mercury and Venus (though you won’t get that until next week) you get Jupiter and Saturn which while not an unmixed blessing are powerful planets.  So if you’re going to do something big, this is the month to do it.  The good thing for everyone else is that Aquarius is one of those generous signs (like Libra and unlike the arthropodal ones)  where the rest of the sky shares in reflected good luck.  Which is nice because with all the planets piling into Aquarius, the rest of the sky is pretty empty.  And what is there isn’t good.  Mars in Taurus and the moon in Gemini are both generally considered negative, though they can be read by an optimist as exhorting you to make a positive change in your life by staying the course and engaging in difficult, grinding, monotonous work.  And Venus in Capricorn can be a sign of self-discovery, but it can also stand for the rise of a paraphilia which again, not going to talk about.

Aquarius:  King of Swords reversed – Cruelty, perversity, barbarity, perfidy, evil intention.

Pisces:  8 of Swords – Bad news, violent chagrin, crisis, censure, power in trammels, conflict, calumny, sickness

Aries:  4 of Wands – Country life, haven of refuge, repose, concord, harmony, prosperity, peace

Taurus:  2 of Coins reversed – Enforced gaiety, simulated enjoyment, literal sense, handwriting, composition, letters of exchange

Gemini:  Page of Wands reversed – Anecdotes, announcements, evil news, indecision, instability

Cancer:  The Star – Loss, theft, privation, abandonment, hope, bright prospects

Leo:  5 of Wands – Competition, gold, gain, opulence

Virgo:  6 of Wands – Victory, great news, expectation realized

Libra:  The Hermit – Prudence, circumspection, treason, dissimulation, roguery, corruption

Scorpio:  The Hanged Man reversed – Selfishness, the crowd, body politic

Sagittarius:  Ace of Wands –  Creation, invention, enterprise, principle, beginning, source, birth, family, origin, money, fortune, inheritance

Capricorn:  The Chariot – Succor, providence, war, triumph, presumption, vengeance, trouble

      This worries me.

The cynical voice of experience here…

    • juris imprudent

I take this as a sign that the floor will be completed this week, and the appliances put back in place in the kitchen.

    • Cy

I feel like this is the moment when someone really explains what happened to Fido when he was “sent to the farm.”

    • hayeksplosives

      I know, right?!

Girl, we gotsta make the most of this week!!

  6. But Enough About [this space intentionally left blank]

I really should stop reading this weekly. It seems to boil down to “hey Gemini — you suck, d00d!”

I get enough of that from Real Life™.

      • blackjack

        Bad ass song, thanks!

      • blackjack

Here’s another along the same the lines.

      • Don escaped Qanon

A tune from my childhood that seems to conflict with another: “Saturday Night Special.” I’m sure there’s a website somewhere that explains it all. I’m just going to not worry about it since LS is a band comprised entirely of Florida Men and just chalk it up to one dem thangs.

      • blackjack

Yup, ain’t no good for nuthin’ else!

Sagittarius: Ace of Wands – Creation, invention, enterprise, principle, beginning, source, birth, family, origin, money, fortune, inheritance

Now you’re just making shit up.

    President Puddin’ Cup’s a Scorpio.

The fact that I have anything in common with that walking toilet bowl of human shit offends me to no end.

    A Guardsman at the Capitol.

Good letter from a dude in DC.

My guard unit was called up last [week] to help secure the Capitol and has been providing security since [January 16]. In 48 hours of on-duty security I have not seen a single protester — only one drunk guy who cussed my 2nd platoon (which raised morale for a good two hours – soldiers like and respect fluent profanity).

    • KromulentKristen

I will be perfectly happy if I never have to go to DC again. Tis but a pipe dream, as I will need a new badge every so often for work.

      • But Enough About [this space intentionally left blank]

Don’t make any sudden movements while you’re there.

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

And it will fall on deaf ears.

    • Dr. Fronkensteen

“Whoever ordered this response is completely out of touch with reality.”

Are they out of touch with reality or are they trying to create a reality for the people not there for a political purpose? It’s difficult to say.

      • Tundra

The “insurgency” propaganda is being unleashed everywhere. These fucks had a domestic terror bill all teed up and just needed a spark. A dopey bunch of fuckwits at the Capitol provided it.

Patriot Act 2.0 is gonna suck.

      • Dr. Fronkensteen

Yes it will. And it’s infuriating that they have these bills pre-written. I expect contingency planning from the military in case we need to invade Canada. I don’t need it from the lawmakers.

      • kbolino

I saw this all presaged about 6 years ago but I didn’t think it would actually come to pass. The Democrats’ rank-and-file are limousine socialists who cannot tolerate any questioning of their comfortable existence and their belief that the arc of history always bends towards justice and equality.

      • westernsloper

Yep. NPR this morning was wall to wall evil Trump and his evil supporters who are all insurgents.

      • blackjack

Ya think? She also requested crew manned machine guns. For Trump protesters! Their only good for indiscriminately mowing down large crowds. To even have a thought that they would be useful in D.C. on inauguration day is pure evil. Yet, Pelosi actually did just that.

      • But Enough About [this space intentionally left blank]

She also requested crew manned machine guns.

Did she actually get ’em? I’d be surprised if she did — you’d think the military commanders would talk her down from such an outrageous request.

      • westernsloper

Ya, they shut her down on that one.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

Please tell me you’re shitting me on the machine guns.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

        Holy shit

      • rhywun

        Wow.

      • trshmnstr the terrible

I think they fear the correct thing, whether or not it actually materializes. They’re doing the kinds of things that cause insurrections in response.

      • cyto

Oh, great. They were already coming for dangerous groups like white supremacists and “even libertarians”…. Now you go and paint a target on our backs?

      • trshmnstr the terrible

The target was already there, I just filled it in with dayglo spray paint. ?

      • Gender Traitor

Ken Cuccinelli, made an alarming revelation during an interview with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum on her show, “The Story” on Jan. 20.

Looked around Fox News’s website looking for mention of this. I found the page with video of full episodes of “The Story.” Betcha can’t guess which episode isn’t listed.

      • kbolino

The response is the proof of its own necessity. The lack of actual engagement is irrelevant, though of course they’ll never turn down a stack of corpses to stand upon.

Libra: The Hermit – Prudence, circumspection, treason, dissimulation, roguery, corruption

    Aawww fuck yeah, buddy!

    MUH MANDATE

President Joe Biden and the new Democratic Congress were just sworn in, but the clock has already started on the 2022 midterm elections, when voters will decide if the president gets more than two years to advance his agenda with a friendly Congress.

Democrats have to defend a narrow 221-211 majority in the House (218 seats are needed for control) and the 50-50 Senate, where losing even a single seat will cost the party the chamber.

Steamroller the opposition, Joe. The nation media propaganda apparatus is behind you all the way.

    • The Other Kevin

They’ll have their work cut out for them. It will be a little tricky convincing someone that losing their job, and it costing twice as much to fuel their car or heat their home, is a good thing.

      • Mojeaux

The people screaming will be written off as deplorables. For the elite, they won’t even notice.

    • rhywun

Huh, I didn’t know the House was that close.

      Mandate, indeed.

      • DEG

When Gingrich was Speaker in the 90s and the Republicans had a loss of seats just like the Democrats had, the Republicans kicked Gingrich out of the Speaker seat.

      • robc

Its one of the main questions of fraud from the election. The GOP made strong grounds nationwide except in Prez vote.

  12. The Late P Brooks

She also requested crew manned machine guns. For Trump protesters! Their only good for indiscriminately mowing down large crowds. To even have a thought that they would be useful in D.C. on inauguration day is pure evil. Yet, Pelosi actually did just that.

    Needz moar flamethrowers.

  13. Mojeaux

    Taurus: simulated enjoyment

    PHRASING!

    • But Enough About [this space intentionally left blank]

Nah. If it’s enjoyment, it’s not simulated.  ?

    • blackjack

      I’ll have what she’s having.

  14. westernsloper

Gemini: Page of Wands reversed – Anecdotes, announcements, evil news, indecision, instability

Seems legit. It is &$^%*& snowing big wet flakes and the roads are shite.

  15. The Late P Brooks

    Taurus: simulated enjoyment

Needz moar flowers and candle light dinner?

  16. Aloysious

Scorpio: I’m sure you forgot to add “irritable old bastard” to the forecast/prediction thingy.

  17. cyto

Under the heading of “weirdest new propaganda thread”, I nominate “Joe Biden is the mostest, bestest religious president of all time.

    https://mobile.twitter.com/omriceren/status/1353194372221829121

    So bizarre.

Bonus weird because it is the same people. The exact same guy who told me that Bush professing faith was terrifyingly dangerous now says Biden is super refreshing because he is so observant in his faith.

    • The Other Kevin

It’s going to be interesting when his faith inspires him to restore funding for abortions in other countries.

    • westernsloper

Yep, again, NPR did a bit this morning how Presidementia is the most catholic of catholics. It is almost like they talk about the narrative they are going to run with.

      • Mojeaux

I call that the theme of the week. All the drama shows and cop procedurals have variations on the same issue storyline per week.

      • The Other Kevin

They’ve been doing that for years. That’s how you get those montages of 20 reporters saying the same phrase.

      • cyto

Back when Clinton was running the first time I saw the sausage being made. It was the first time I had CSPAN and I would watch the press briefings there. The DNC spokesman would describe some bill the Republicans were pushing with a peculiar turn of phrase… Something very distinct, like calling it sinister, or dark or a risky scheme. It was obviously a poll tested phrase.

The next day, all three major Network anchors would use the exact wording provided by the spekesman… But not in a quote. They would offer it up as their own opinion. They would read “straight news”, saying “Republican lawmakers unveiled their risky scheme for changing medicare today….”.

That sausage-making became more opaque with the advent of the journo-list and probably widespread use of faxing before that.

Now they have realized that they need not worry about such machinations.

      • The Other Kevin

The first time I remember it is when they all used the word “gravitas” when describing GWB picking Cheney. All of a sudden they all decided to use the same obscure word.

      • cyto

Yeah, that was pretty transparent. And ubiquitous.

  18. westernsloper

Sun came out. Sun went away and now it is snowing again. Tomorrow is going to suck.

    • cyto

We are heading to the beach.

      Sometimes Florida is fun.

      • westernsloper

        u suck.

  19. Fourscore

The National Guard call up wasn’t because of any threat, our intelligence people are apparently not very intelligent. The whole purpose of the call up was to show us, the people, that the government can use force should they so choose. The pols made us all stand in the corner because we are naughty and don’t do as we’re told.

    • Homple

And then the pols quartered few thousand of those troops in an unheated parking garage with one portapotty for sanitation and no electricity during a spell of 38F weather.

So the military found out what the pols think of them as well and it will be remembered.
