Well, we didn’t do a traditional Seder last night, other than the four glasses of wine. OK, maybe a few more than that, but still. It was a particular delight, though, because this was dinner with some old friends of mine and Spud’s whom we haven’t seen in 25 years; anyone deep into the fine wine world in the ’90s (as Spud and I were) would know who they are. Turns out they had ended up in the PHX area, so perfect for getting things going again. SP had never met them, so it was a good opportunity for a fun time, great conversation, and alcohol. Since she was the youngest, she was obligated to do the Four Questions, but since she refused, she made Yahweh very sad.
I don’t have a punch line for this charming little vignette. So I’ll move on to birthdays.
Birthdays today include a prince with a wonderful cognomen; a guy who said “Fuck that shit!”; a guy who was a real square; a religious guy I got to meet a few times, and had he not been Biden-senile, he would have hated me; one of the grand figures of my early childhood; a Polack joke with an unfunny punchline; one of the three most talented brothers in American music; the woman who put BPA on the map and caused us to move to Texas; a total piece of shit who left behind a smaller turd; and another asswipe who stuck us with his idiot progeny; an actual intellectual in academia; and a guy whose TV role was problematic.
Let’s talk about news.
This is why they put (((us))) in ovens.
You know, people would like you more if you learned how to drive.
And this is how libertarians are made.
Wait, was that wrong? Nobody told me it was wrong.
“But we’re totally not trying to buy votes.”
Old Guy Music features one of SP’s favorite songs. Great lyrics, delightful chord patterns and rhythm. Lee Barber should be so much more famous than he is…
Hmm. Not if he is conditioned into only thinking about what just happened to him in the context of The Narrative.
Happy Angel of Death* day, OMWC.
*That’s clearly an antisemitic dog whistle that references Mengele
Very true, but at least there are guys like Maj Toure and Kmele Foster and to some extent Hotep Jesus providing a different narrative.
Be weary of anyone providing narrative man. They usually don’t mean you well.
Hotep Jesus is awesome.
What are the “Four Questions”?
Or, can’t they be posted on a family-friendly site like this?
“What… is your favorite color?”
Blue!
No! Gree—aaaiiiiyyyhh!!!

“Have you ever seen a grown man naked?”
I use that line a lot.
I figured if anyone would appreciate that line, it would be you.
And it worked at least twice, right?
Children’s author Beverly Cleary died. She was 104 years old.
Glad she didn’t live long enough to see herself cancelled. ::thinks wistfully of Laura Ingalls Wilder::
My daughter’s two favorite authors. I guess we’re properly shitlording.
If anyone tries to cancel Louis May Alcott, I’ma cut a bitch.
Best quote I heard about why America is doomed was that while the US was busy arguing about and canceling Mr. Potatohead and Dr. Seuss, the Chinese are whooping their men into shape and looking at how to dominate the world economically, politically, and militarily.
We should be cutting up mothafuckers already for dooming our kids to Nike, Apple , or Disney work camps.
That’s a pretty good run.
A guy I work with told me about one of his great uncles whose wife passed away when they were in their 80’s. He pined for her for decades – almost becoming angry for still being alive. One day at the age of 103 he was just tired of living, stopped eating, and was dead three days later.
I downloaded Socks from the library to listen to during my commute tomorrow.

I love The Mouse And The Motorcycle; it was a delight to read it to my daughter after having not touched it for 40 years.
The Mouse And The Motorcycle audiobook is on hold. 🙂 I’ve only read the first two in the series as a yute. I didn’t know there were two more. The kids books have been boxed up for awhile. I forget what’s been saved for them.
I need light reading/listening in the car. I just can’t concentrate on any detailed stories, especially if there is a great deal of world building.
Shit…its past 0800h already ?

So I recently got both a suet and seed bird feeder and hung them on the overhang on my porch because I already had eyebolts there. Within days a mockingbird found them. Other birds try to come but are immediately chased off by the mockingbird. What can I do to allow other birds to use the feeder? I’ve considered shooting the mockingbird in the butt with my kid’s Red Ryder BB gun (spring loaded, probably won’t injure). Is the location a problem? It seems like if it were in the open on a pole the way most people have them the mockingbird would still be able to assert its territorialism.
BB gun might do more damage than you expect. They are incredibly fragile. I’d say try a garden hose or one of the fancier squirt guns.
Yeah, don’t kill the mockingbird.

Hey-O!
I’m back in Korea and got some interesting Evan news. All good stuff, no worries. But as I was typing it all sorts of thoughts just kept coming out and I couldn’t stop. It’s a big wall of text and I’m sorry.
But I’m not gonna post it yet! It seems incredibly rude. Just posting a wall o’ text is gonna make me feel. But y’all the best.
You big tease! 😉 When you’re able to edit it down to more bite-sized chunks, please let us know what’s up. Always glad to hear good news from you!
You’re correct. Time to chunk it up 🙂
Whom did you knock up this time? 😉
…I’m not sure if you saw and are Ted S.-ing what I think you are…and if so…it’s a rather odd thing that I did and it deserved to be pointed out…at least to me…
But who have I EVER knocked up?!?! I’ve done it before?! I slipped one past the goalie?! PROGENY!
It was a joke.

Glad to hear good news from you. I’m sure many of us would like to hear your tale. Please do write it up and let me know if you need any editorial assistance.

Somehow all people everywhere don’t just laugh uproariously at the idea of continuing to even have an institution as idiotic as government.
I am scheduled to attend the wedding of a friend in late April, and he told me his bride to be, a year late on doing the nupials thing, is still late the venue they booked for over 400 people will now only allow 90 people.
The Leaders Summit on Climate talks, scheduled to be held virtually on 22 and 23 April, are an opportunity for the US to shape, hasten and deepen global efforts to cut climate-wrecking fossil fuel pollution, administration officials told the Associated Press.
According to the White House, 40 invitations went out on Friday to leaders that encompass a range of nations, some already affected badly by climate crisis, others on a spectrum from relatively reformist to ultra-polluters.
“In his invitation, the president urged leaders to use the summit as an opportunity to outline how their countries also will contribute to stronger climate ambition,” the White House said.
Will Doktor Jill lead them in a singalong? Will they make construction paper models of trees and rivers? Will the leaders of highly polluting nations be forced to wear dunce caps? It sounds like the lesson plan for a kindergarten class project.
Something something, signifying nothing…..
climate-wrecking fossil fuel pollution
I would think it would not be pleasant tank top weather if the climate had been wrecked, but I don’t want to be a Science Denier so I’ll accept it.
Will Biden demand two pudding cups at the summit to assert his dominance? I can hardly wait.
He better be careful acting up or someone will slip him some special environmental friendly sauce in his pudding…
No, they will be fêted for their ongoing efforts to heal the planet before going home to crank up another few hundred coal plants to meet the needs of Western nations’ industrial demand.
They always act as though pollution is some sort of detached activity undertaken by malevolent bad thinkers for their own amusement and greed. As opposed to the unfortunate by-product of a process that has improved the lives of hundreds of millions of people. Like when they go after oil companies without ever acknowledging what crude oil has helped human beings achieve.
I think I saw that episode of Captain Planet.
Biden’s effort is an arena in which the US can display clear differentiation with the previous Donald Trump administration
That’s what’s important.
Apparently, that’s all they got on everything, good or ill.
They’re like bitchy teenagers screaming “I’ll never be like you, dad!”
That’ll be the first time someone followed my advice.
Heh.
If you translate that to mean that they will always make decisions that fuck over American citizens and favor foreign entities, whether they are entities that like us or not, but going the extra mile to kiss the ass of those that would love to burn America down, while sticking it hard to any of our real allies, then yes. That’s the differentiation they want you to observe.

Clearly a threat to the public. ?
Leo Brent Bozell IV – yeah, his father is an outspoken conservative.
I’m glad to see him wanting to be tried for this instead of pleading, although a DC jury is likely to be more pro-government than, say, one in Montana.
Charges!? It was just a no-knock raid that got the wrong address.
He should be charged with whatever the teacher’s union goons who stormed the Wisconsin capitol got charged with, which I believe was extra overtime pay.
This article Spud posted last night is a hot mess. It’s easy to see where the author’s sympathies are.

“Enviva’s product would not exist without loggers who clear-cut forests into barren fields with motorized “feller-bunchers,” but the company tries to emphasize that its business is about growing trees as well as killing trees.”
Sounds like a quote from an environmentalist, but those are the author’s words.
It is not surprising that corporations latch onto movements to gain support for their business model (I.e., “green” energy) after being harassed the better part of a century for the real reason to be in business…making money.
These are the idiots that made it impossible for California to proactively prevent massive and destructive forest fires…
I’ve been enjoying the Reel Truth series on YouTube. They have Restoration Home and an ancient forensics show (bog men etc).
Will check out. Love y’all’s podcast recommendations, especially to do with history.
I heard a few snippets of a country music history podcast called Cocaine and Rhinestones (I think) that was very good.
However, despite the emphasis on global cooperation, early administration efforts to reshape US relations with China got off to a problematic start last week during high-level talks in Anchorage, Alaska that began with an exchange of insults.
Against that backdrop, the climate talks – coming seven months ahead of November’s UN global climate sessions in Glasgow – will offer a deliberate test of whether, after four years of isolationist and aggressive diplomatic non-compliance, the US still has power to shape global decision-making.
Trump turned the planet into a smouldering uninhabitable wasteland, littered with bombed out cities and the decomposing remains of millions of slaughtered civilians.
Another backdrop against which China won’t be persuaded to mend its ways.
Yeah, let’s get together in Glasgow in November and kvetch about how disastrously warm it is.
So far, 64 congressional lawmakers have pushed for recurring direct payments until the pandemic ends.

The letter, led by Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, urged the Democratic leaders to continue the checks until the economy recovers with “equal payments to adults and dependents, prioritize those who need it most and will spend it quickest and include older dependents such as disabled and elderly dependents and those over the age of 16 still claimed as dependents.”

I’ve been in quarantine for 13/14 days. Today, as law, I had to go and get a covid test. Tomorrow, quarantine ends at noon. Then I can legally escape this damn studio. (Yes…I have illegally left many many many times. That’s for another time. Their self-diagnosis app is hilarious. Your’e required to check in twice a day.)
Tomorrow I also start my new job. My last real teaching was on May 8. So a bit of a break from my profession. A bit of a break from being a real human in real life. I’ve been away from the Real World for quite a while. Sept 22, 2019 when The Incident occurred. Time to jump back in. Time to be a ‘real’ person again. I have been the entire time, but this is an important step towards the self-reliance I expect from myself.
The greatest thing is how softly I’m going to land. I’m taking over my best friend’s job. The next three days I’ll shadow and co-teach and I’ll learn how the school functions. Then on Thurs I take it all over. And in this sweet gig, I only teach about 20 hours/week. That’s…insanely simple. But right now I think that’s what I need. To throw myself into 40 hour/weeks after such time seems….and this is embarrassing, just terrifyingly daunting. This is a confidence booster. The next step. Just gotta do it. And the thing is, I know how easy it will be. And frankly, fun. Just gotta do it.
Quarantine ends tomorrow. Then, I move all of my life from this AirBnB to my new apt. Then, I start my new job. Those are all big things. Put ‘em together in one day and…damn. Big Things for a Big Day. But it’s exciting. Onwards. Upwards. Always. To do that ya gotta take that step. I’m getting in the ring tomorrow. Time to go. T-Minus 13:39 hours.
Y’all are the best for everything. You can’t possibly know how much i mean that. I can’t express how much I sincerely do, but know that I do.
That’s wonderful! I think starting out at 20 hrs/wk is a good idea if you can get by on that for a while.
You got this!!
Good luck with everything. Please do keep us posted.
Go you!
Good luck!

Law and Order Joe
Biden was chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee nearly 30 years ago, the last time Congress passed significant gun control legislation. And it wasn’t easy.
“I’m not even angry anymore. I’m just as frustrated as hell,” Biden said in 1994 in the middle of a lengthy fight with congressional Republicans and the National Rifle Association over the crime bill. It was a huge bill he’d been working on for a long time that included hiring more police officers, promoting community policing and crime-reduction strategies and drug courts, but also included sentencing changes blamed for a precipitous rise in mass incarceration in the U.S.
Anti-hobgoblin theater polls well among the educated suburban female demographic with which Joe and his puppetmasters are utterly obsessed. The country is crawling with hobgoblins. We must get them off our streets. Super-predators made good hobgoblins, then, Republicans and rural gun owners make good hobgoblins now.
We will unify and heal the country into submission.
It’s absolutely mind-bending that the left sees crime go through the roof and thinks blaming a “precipitous rise in mass incarceration” and springing thousands of violent jailbirds is the solution. And they’re getting away with it. ?

“‘He thought I would look better with bigger boobs’: Sharon Stone reveals her surgeon increased her breast size WITHOUT her consent
Sharon Stone has revealed her surgeon increased her bust by a full cup-size without her consent.

“BLM groups demand The Masters and MLB All-Star Game are MOVED from Georgia after Gov. Kemp signed new voting law”
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9410511/Civil-Rights-groups-DEMAND-Masters-MLB-Star-Game-MOVED-Georgia.html
Didn’t they stop shooting movies there after a transgender bathroom law, or something?
I think that was NC. And I doubt they actually went through with it.
That was the NCAA I think, and governors saying delegates from their state’s couldn’t travel there. Hollywood did threaten to boycott Georgia, over an abortion decision.
I thought they were talking about it in Georgia as well. Though someone probably explained to them how lucrative the tax breaks were and they went quiet about it.
Biden was also involved in passing the Brady Bill, a 1993 law requiring background checks for most gun purchases, which is still in place today. It was named for James Brady, President Reagan’s press secretary who was gravely injured in the assassination attempt on Reagan in 1981. Brady and his wife, Sarah, threw themselves into getting gun control legislation passed.
“It took six years and seven votes actually, and they had the NRA opposing them every step of the way,” said Brown.
But there are loopholes and exceptions, and buying guns over the Internet wasn’t even a thing in 1993. A generation and many mass shootings later, that legislation from the ’90s still remains, because nothing else has been able to pass since.
Now, you can buy gunz by the pallet load, straight off Amazon, no questions asked. It’s easier than buying a pack of Skittles.
And just like having a pack of Skittles, a white (hispanic) man will kill any black person he sees with a gun.
“Baltimore has announced it will stop prosecuting people for drug possession, prostitution, minor traffic violations and other low-level offenses in a controversial move to extend an experiment brought in fight the spread of Covid.
State Attorney Marilyn Mosby stopped bringing charges for a string of less serious crimes last March to reduce the number of people being sent to crowded jails amid the pandemic.
Since then violent crimes and homicides have dropped by 20 percent in Baltimore even as they rose in most other major US cities – prompting Mosby to announce Friday she was making the temporary policy permanent. ”
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9411457/Baltimore-stop-prosecuting-people-drug-possession-offenses.html
Was there less violent crime, or less violent crime being reported or discovered?
It’s Hamsterdam.
I think might word missing.
It’s an interesting finding but how would less prosecution of petty crime, a good thing mostly, lead to a reduction in violent crime?
If you’re not worried about being gone after by the state, a woman may not feel she needs a pimp to protect her, the ones doing the violent crimes in that area, lower level less dangerous drug dealers may not feel pressure for a gang to protect them, and such and like. Though I can’t vouch for this circumstance, this is what libertarians claim making those things legal would lead to, less violet crime. (Ala ending prohibition led to a drop in mafia violent crime)
I am skeptical of that factoid but let’s assume it’s true.
In that case, I hate to break it to her but most other major US cities are pursuing the exact same policies, so whatever caused Baltimore to show the opposite result as every other major city in the US in the last couple years, it wasn’t radical leftist crime-fighting.
I bet the “cause” is that they are fudging the numbers.
When you ignore petty crime, you get more crime. The criminals are the ones committing both categories of crimes. While I would be cool with them leaving bitchez & hos and druggies alone, you can’t ignore the people stealing/breaking shit and not get a ton more of that.
“‘A lab leak isn’t 100% certain but it seems to be the only logical source of Covid’: Washington expert who led inquiry into the cause of the virus reveals three Wuhan lab scientists fell ill in November 2019”
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9410163/US-State-Department-expert-David-Asher-says-lab-leak-logical-explanation-Covid-source.html
It’s seeming more and more likely.
“The Chinese participants were of course aware of what happened to physicians and researchers who spoke their minds on the issue. Chinese physicians who had sounded the alarm during the original outbreak were threatened with prison for sharing information with medical colleagues and the world. They were not interviewed. Dr. Ai Fen, head of the Emergency Department at Wuhan Central Hospital, saw many of the first cases and would have known where her patients might have been prior to getting sick. She dared to publish an article on the topic in China’s People. But the article disappeared, within hours, and then she disappeared. Censoring speech, and erasing brave people often go hand in hand. On news of the outbreak, public health officials in other countries wanted access to the original virus samples to develop therapeutics. But key samples from the Wuhan Institute of Virology were also “disappeared” over a year ago. Chinese officials even admitted to destroying some of them—as a precaution to protect the public, of course—lest the coronavirus escape from the lab. (Was there ever a more superfluous precaution taken, considering the virus was already out and about in China and had infected tens of thousands?) The WHO committee made no comment on these forensic mysteries. All this raises two questions: Why would a government eliminate evidence and witnesses, stall for a year, curate every detail, and stack the WHO investigating delegation, if a fair investigation would have shown the virus had an innocent, “natural” origin, had been introduced into China by a foreigner, or had arrived in a package of frozen food from another country? And why would the WHO go along?”
https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/science/articles/plague-on-both-our-houses
This issue is just going to be yet another political litmus test because of the lack of a smoking gun. There’s extremely strong circumstantial evidence that says it was a a lab fuck up but there’s just enough wiggle room for people to swallow the CCP’s story if they’re politically so inclined and as a result nothing decisive will happen. The Chinese won this one because of the willfully blind.
More and more likely especially since the story is being downplayed by big tech, just like a number of others that turned out to be correct, like hydroxychloroquine.
So many firsts, that article must give Bro-wood some hard wood.
I was thinking that maybe Bro is Emhoff
“Texas’ COVID numbers fall for the 17th consecutive day following Gov. Abbott’s 100% reopening of the state and lifting of the mask mandate – a move that Biden infamously called ‘Neanderthal thinking'”

*shock of shocks*
Now if some of the national chains start relaxing their mask requirements, I can toss the damned mask in the trash.
Hey, Trashy (if you’re still around) – does Eyepiece still only work on mobile Firefox? I’d like to try to get it on my new phone, but of course the default browser is Chrome. If I want Eyepiece, should I download Firefox or maybe another browser? (Brave, maybe?)
Even mobile Firefox has pulled add-on support. The only Android browser that still supports add-ons (in my awareness) is Kiwi Browser. I don’t love it, but it’s fine for Glibbing.
A mobile app is badly needed. I think somebody else was looking into starting one. I have thought about it, too, but haven’t had the time to start in on it.
Tl;dr: fuck mozilla
Thanks! I’ll look into Kiwi. If I use that, do you know whether I’d best use Greasemonkey or Tampermonkey?
Doesn’t matter, it’s the narrative that matters which is why they were so desperate to prevent Texas and the other states from opening up. We can’t have unfortunate counterfactuals out there you know but they’ll just continue to underreport good news and overreport bad news and the people who follow this stuff on a surface level will be one hundred percent convinced.
Masks make you sicker.
Reducing the oxygen you breathe, and increasing the waste gases you rebreathe.
I’m sure it’s because most of the state is covered in dead bodies feeding the buzzards. You can’t re-infect the dead.
I watched ‘James May: Our Man in Japan’ on Amazon the other night. It was shot in 2019, released in 2020.
The thing I found interesting was when he went to a Pachinko parlor. They had small plexi-glass dividers between all the machines.
Asian countries have been for some time more concerned about the spread of respiratory diseases, and people here (in 2019) can often be seen in the background wearing masks.
These dividers are exactly what they are now doing at US casinos. Machines are shut off so that only machines 6ft apart are turned on. Unless they have these dividers, then you can turn on machines next to each other, because #Science!
Except, these dividers, if they did anything at all, would only work if gamblers sat with their faces right in front of the machines. But most gamblers play the slots in a leaned back, comfortable position where the divider no longer is between them and the person next to them. But it stops the virus, because #Science!
The funny part about the asian mask thing is that Japan regularly gets hammered by flu – just like every other country.
Masks are wishful thinking. Dividers are silly virus-holders. Social distancing is just embarrassing.
UHM, the plexiglass absorbs the virus!! Why do you think they have it EVERYWHERE! It just absorbs all the viruses and kills them SCIENCE!

I think the whole thing would look much less worse if they used regular cloth blankets.
I understand people who choose to forgo meat for whatever reason.
But this fixation on forcing the rest of us is just insane.
Could coloring our steaks blue help reduce the world’s insatiable demand for meat?
My counterproposal: go fuck yourself.
“I am under little illusion that the farming/fishing lobby would be amenable to such negatively-valanced visual adulteration of their products’ appearance properties, but it’s clear that innovative strategies are urgently needed to sense-hack our food behaviors in order to help address our current unhealthy and unsustainable patterns of consumption.”
No, that’s not clear at all.
It is if you remember that the globalists love them some mono-cropping and hate decentralized (regenerative) ag.
Fucking Gates and his neo-Malthusian pals have all kinds of clever plans for the food system.
How about we stop eating so much sugar, seed oils and processed shit, instead?
Is olive oil a “seed oil” because I eat a ton of it.
Nah: soybean, rapeseed, cottonseed, sunflower, etc.
When Tom T. was in (physical) rehab after his Christmas stroke, a dietician recommended grape seed oil, so we’ve started using that for the relatively rare occasions where we fry instead of broil.
“negatively-valanced visual adulteration”
So, uglifying?
Does it taste like meat? Then I’ll eat it.
But, Hitchcock did it.
sCiENcE!
Blue food coloring gives me the shits. Try to ruin my meat with it, and I’ll go to war.

LOLOLOL
This is today’s level of journolism…
Now this is how you make society more equal!
So if I choose to drive drunk it’s the car’s fault?
Actually, this ruling is the exact opposite, as far as I can tell from this terribly written article. If you get drunk and crash your car you can’t claim the crash only happened because someone invited you to a party when you were drunk.
5 people isn’t a ‘party’ or gathering’?
(PS, blacking out does not mean you passed out or went unconscious at all)
Dude might be a rapist, but this story as written is too convoluted to make any judgement.
What the fuck does that even have to do with a a case in MN?
“Drunk people can’t technically be raped under N.Y. law”
I doubt that’s even true.
5 shots and a pill: smrt. Doesn’t say which pill, probably benzo or maybe opiate.
But don’t blame the consequences of her decisions on some one else!
Oops, the don’t shouldn’t be there.
I’m drunk, so that mistake isn’t on me.
Is that good or bad? I’m afraid I’ve forgotten what you said recently that was concerning.
People, who don’t know my story, got overly concerned over my complaint of a neurological issue and assumed I had the Wilford Brimley’s, because I’m fat. I do not have dabetes. I have talked to my doctor about the issue before. Joke/general bitching blown out of proportion
Oh right, paresthesia. Between you, Festus, and HE…
Interesting. I saw your reaction to being hectored on the zoomie, so I kept my pie-hole shut. The ‘beetus can be managed and was, too me, far less concerning than a possible undiagnosed neurological issue. FWIW, it all comes from a place of love.
Tired of your fucking lies and superstitious mumbo jumbo
“I know people are tired,” Walensky said during the briefing. “We’re just asking people to hang on a little while longer in terms of the masks and the mitigation strategies so that we can get the majority of people vaccinated.”
So far roughly 15.1% of the US population is fully vaccinated — meaning not enough Americans are yet protected to suppress the spread of the virus.
What can help fight another Covid-19 surge, according to experts, are the measures that have been proven to work: face masks, social distancing, avoiding crowds, and regularly washing hands.
Proven- you keep using that word…

Argument by assertion appears to be everyone’s favorite choice these days.

OT: A relative of mine (who is very gung-ho about all the entire bevy of COVID restrictions) is on currently on a months-long road trip all over the US because his job is remote and he can work from wherever there is an Internet connection, so he’s taking the opportunity to basically have a long-term vacation. He keeps sending messages in the family group chat about how shocked he is that various places do not seem to be following “guidelines”. Reported today that there’s supposedly a curfew where he currently is, but the bars “look like a super-spreader event” late into the night and also sent a selfie from a crowded tourist site with no mask on.
When I’m trying to get people to see my point of view on political issues like these, I try not to be too pointed or accusatory, but all I can think of right now is “Why are YOU there then? Why are you at any of these places? Your job is remote, so isn’t it your moral duty to lock yourself in your home and have groceries delivered since you can just work from the computer? What justifies you going to all these cities (where you often remark that “cases are high” and express moral outrage that some people aren’t wearing masks? Aren’t you just playing COVID roulette by bouncing from one city to another for months and months?”
I’m trying to think of a way to either put this very kindly or make it into a joke with subtextual meaning, but I think I’m too angry right now. I’ve just HAD IT with people screaming their moral indignation from the rooftops while simultaneously doing whatever they feel like doing without a care in the world. It’s become dogmatic – you can do whatever you want as long as you publicly declare the correct viewpoints and participate in damning the infidels.
I’m going to hit the punching bag for a while, then maybe later tonight I’ll be in a more calm frame of mind.
I used to have a heavy bag, but I left it in a move.

“Gee, don’t you feel unsafe taking off your mask in that cesspool of disease?”
I’m thinking you could go with a variation on the old “the food sucks and the portions are too small” joke. Something like “there are too many people here and I can’t find a place to sit”
“You ARE the traffic”? (said of rush hour)
Thank goodness you’re traveling cross country from one highly dangerous super-spreader event to the next instead of staying away from those highly virulent hot spots.

How fond are you of said relative?
Yup. SOMEBODY needs to say it.
Some of my relatives are similarly living their lives (albeit less ostentatiously) and bitching along the way about everybody else living their lives. I’ve made it clear that I will leave if they start covid bitching in my presence. These people need to start feeling consequences to their hypocritical shit stirring and gossipping.
“You must rearrange your life to satisfy my whims” is one of the less-attractive directions that American – hell, global – culture is taking.
Why do all these homosexuals keep sucking my cock?

I love how there are dozens of “fact check” articles for this, because it’s so believable CNN would have that chyron.
I remind you that Twatter has not fucked over any of the assholes that were spreading fake news about this guy being white, so there is that angle..
Not satire
Clearing the docket for truly important justice issues
Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby says the city will no longer prosecute for prostitution, drug possession and other low-level offenses.
Mosby made the announcement on Friday following her office’s one-year experiment in not prosecuting minor offenses to decrease the spread of Covid-19 behind bars.
“Today, America’s war on drug users is over in the city of Baltimore. We leave behind the era of tough-on-crime prosecution and zero tolerance policing and no longer default to the status quo to criminalize mostly people of color for addiction, said Mosby in an official press release.
The experiment, known as The Covid Criminal Justice Policies, is an approach to crime developed with public health authorities. Instead of prosecuting people arrested for minor crimes like prostitution and public urination, the program dealt with those crimes as public health issues and work with community partners to help find solutions.
Watch your step, you racists and hate criminals.
Better than not prosecuting them for property crimes like in San Francisco.
Awww shit. https://www.foxnews.com/world/suicide-bomb-palm-sunday-indonesia
Thankfully no reports of any deaths yet.
I grew up in Makassar – spent chunk of 12 years there. This is the first suicide bombing I can recall although they’ve had a lot of other sectarian violence since Suharto was ousted. Been by that church plenty of times – right in the middle of town.
Fucking Amish!
“I grew up a hunter and served as an Army Ranger.
I didn’t take my deer hunting rifle to Afghanistan, nor did I take my assault rifle deer hunting.
Don’t be fooled by the gun lobby. The type of gun matters.
Weapons of war have no place in our communities.”

More like Jim Crow.
He was in Afghanistan using an AR? I didn’t know the military allowed soldiers to carry civilian arms into combat.
He wrote “assault rifle”, but he’s still full of shit.
Well, ARs are what they call ARs (those that are full of shit), I’ve never heard an M-4 or M-16 described as an assault rifle, because the people who know they are different things aren’t idiots.
No the military didn’t let him bring his AR. It is the deadliest gun known to man and a violation of the Geneva Convention.

Two of the seven deadly sins in one convenient device. Call me old fashioned but I prefer my dildos to not be connected to the internet.
Whoops, not meant as a reply. Also, I don’’t care that that guy was a Ranger. He can fuck right off.
Piss off.
You’ll bring your “assault rifle” to take mine away.
All rights matter.
Everybody in the gun community in 2021: “LOL deer hunting?”
I have other guns for hunting deer. My shortyboi isn’t for hunting, it’s for defending myself against (freelance or state-sponsored) criminal violence.
Funny how there’s this rise of politicians who served in military, but when you scratch deeper, they only did their initial service obligation and cruised through as officers. Phony ass ticket punchers.
I saw on CBS news how GWB avoided war by doing coke while pretending to be in the National Guard! Argbargle Orange Bush is Bad!
The type of gun matters
Sure. Which is why you’re introducing legislation to repeal the NFA, the 1968 racist bill, the private ownership prohibition of the 1986 bill, and the background checks of the 1994 bill.
There is a perverse irony of someone who was part a foreign occupying military that was actively seizing firearms of local inhabitants using that same service to justify why a population shouldn’t be armed.
This false taxonomy between “deer hunting” rifles and “assault weapons” is stupid.
A deer is an animal weighing about 140 to 160 pounds (with some outliers). Just about the same as a human being.
Also, these people don’t seem to understand that an AR-15 is a modular weapons platform, so it can be adapted and changed over to do pretty much anything you would do with a firearm. It just betrays a lack of knowledge about guns. I don’t care if he was an Army Ranger; that doesn’t automatically make him a weapons expert whose opinion overrides that of everyone else.
From the replies –
I’m coming around to the idea of helicopter rides.
Concord, Massachusetts might beg to differ on that issue.
The historical stupidity on display is pretty damning of our educational system.
More historical illiteracy (and just idiotic stupidity):
“If tyranny happens, who ya gonna shoot? Honest question? You gonna all band together and be massacred by drones, tanks, et al? Y’all saying you need guns to fight tyranny really haven’t thought this out”
Tyranny is most likely to come by way of your local Sheriff at first.
In tribute to the original libertarian issue, I paid thru the nose in tip fees at the county dump yesterday.
$58/ton because I don’t get residential trash service which I dumped because they missed multiple weeks of pickups in a row.
I started composting a few years ago mainly for cheap fertilizer, but it has drastically reduced the amount of garbage I have to put out. In fact, I switched to a little office-sized trash can for the kitchen because it would just take forever to fill up and the meat/fish packaging would start to reek.
I’ve forgotten to put the big outdoor trash can on the curb for a month, and it still wasn’t full.
I had concrete and asphalt rubble. It cost me dearly to get rid of it.
I remember going to the dump with my dad when I was kid in the 80s. Drive up to the edge of the smoldering hole in the ground and drop in a couple weeks worth of trash. we must have destroyed the ozone layer 70000000000000000 over just by ourselves…
$85/pickup bed load.
We get 2 project pride passes per year for dumping a load for free. Up to 1000 pounds per pass.
We have 2 free large item pickups per year, but doesn’t include appliances. Fun fact: Dump has a bin for fridges and one for mattresses.

Blue words are cool? Or do you have Wilford Brimley’s?
Don’t Kill the Whale?
Also, Whales.
We all know the real cause
Spring has arrived, and the American disease that lay dormant during the pandemic — deprived of oxygen by the intense national focus on the presidential election — has made a bloody return.
In less than a week, two gunmen separated by 1,400 miles have taken 18 lives. And experts who study and chronicle mass killings warned Tuesday that there could be more as the nation reverts to a more normal way of life.
“This is a moment in time when we’re finally coming out after months of hiding in the shadows from Covid, and I deeply fear we’re going to see another spate of mass shootings,” said Seamus McGraw, author of “From a Taller Tower: The Rise of the American Mass Shooter,” which is being published next month by the University of Texas Press.
Biden takes office, and the mass murderers come out of the woodwork. Coincidence?
I think not.
Lesson: If you want to stop mass shootings, don’t allow a Democrat to be president.
Turgid prose is turgid.
*barf*
I got hassled in Hobby Lobby for not having a mask and I mean HASSLED. But damn you, HL! I can’t quit you. So I’m going to get a Glibs “This mask does nothing” mask.
By an employee or a fellow shopper?
Employee. She was frantic, too.
Huh, seems like HL wouldn’t be that strict.
Time to try giving Michaels your business?
I don’t like shopping at Michael’s and they don’t have a fabric department,
I use Michaels, but there is no Hobby Lobby in Canada, as far as I can tell.
The employees at Michaels appear to be about as enthused about wearing masks as most everyone else I’ve run into lately, that is, not much.
You task someone who is already a Karen with enforcing these rules so your business can say they comply, and obvious outcomes are obvious. I see this a lot with certain cow orkers.
Go to Michael’s. Their probably no different but I once built picture frames for them so, former employee loyalty?
As a customer, I do not like Michael’s. As an employee in the framing department once upon a time, I love Michael’s.
Does Michael’s hate the gays though? I prefer to by my art supplies from people who hate gays.
+50 million internet points to Hyperbole. I’ve missed you broheim! You’ve been layin low on the site and silent on the zooms I’ve gotton onto.
I’ve been doing a lot of day drinking and tend to pass out early. I now have lots of forced free time/house arrest so I’ll probably be more annoying on the site than usual, might actually try and finish a few posts I’ve been thinking about.
tend to pass out early
This.
What is the consensus for what constitutes day drinking?
It’s 5 o’clock somewhere.
I prefer to by my art supplies from people who
hate gaystreat their religious convictions as laws handed down from a higher power, and not subject to the whims of public opinion and pressures of special interest groups.Alternately, “… who love the sinner but hate the sin” would also have been acceptable.
I loved Hobby Lobby even before then, but that just made me love them more.
I could do without seeing the evangelical-product-filled endcaps at the cash register, but that’s their business, not mine. I’m glad they’re blatant about it and still thriving.
I’ve stopped arguing with people who claim HL doesn’t cover birth control when the only thing they don’t cover is Plan B. Further, none of these know-it-alls know you get Plan B over the counter without a prescription. It may be a little pricey, but that’s what you get for being irresponsible.
Employee. She was frantic, too.
She feared for her life.
It had the ring of she was afraid of getting in trouble for not enforcing it.
I get that this is not an insignificant number, however, with 535 legislators, this seems to be a smokescreen.
I’m surprised that Democrats exist who don’t support it.
“Over 2,000 Egyptian soldiers have mysteriously drowned after attempting a Red Sea crossing. ”
You, too, OMWC? The ABC News just identified the “Egyptians” as having enslaved the Jews.
What are you trying to do, raised the number of hate crimes against Egyptians? They already have enough trouble with that ship stuck athwart their canal.
