GlibFit 4.0 – Coronavirus Edition LVIII: Some Spiritual Advice

by | Apr 25, 2021 | GlibFit | 139 comments

The past few weeks I’ve been in something of a funk about my workouts. I’ve been working out but mostly skipping the gym.  I just haven’t had the motivation to get up early to get to it.  I think it’s a spiritual crisis.

Seeking something uplifting, I turned to the Bible. I started with the joy of creation in Genesis. But that didn’t do the trick. The struggle of Exodus is inspiring but didn’t give me the push I needed.  Even the simple but uplifting message of Baywatch couldn’t help. So, I turned to the most trenchant part of the Good Book.

Below are some of the verses that got through to me.

Life is one big tug of war between mediocrity and trying to find your best self.” 1 Goggins 13:4.doG’s messenger hit me between the eyes with this one.

I don’t stop when I’m tired. I stop when I’m done.” 1 Goggins 2:7.  That’s point, isn’t it?

A lot of us don’t know about another world that exists for us because it’s on the other side of suffering. That’s the real growth in life. 1 Goggins 134:1.

“The things that we decide to run from are the truth. When you make excuses, you’re running from the truth. 2 Goggins 3:4.  The Lord put the smackdown on me with that one.

From this point forward, accept the following as Goggins’ laws of nature:

You will be made fun of.
You will feel insecure.
You may not be the best all the time.
You may be the only black, white, Asian, Latino, female, male, gay, lesbian or [fill in your identity here] in a given situation.
There will be times you feel alone.

Get over it!” 1 Goggins 219: 7-17.

If you can get through doing things that you hate to do, on the other side is greatness.  1 Goggins 16:9. I suppose that’s why my forebearers trudged through the desert for 40 years.

If you’re not physically and mentally prepared for what life is going to throw at you, then you’re just going to crumble, And then, you’re no good to nobody.” 3 Goggins 16:4.

“Everything in life is a mind game! Whenever we get sucked under by life’s dramas, large and small, we are forgetting that no matter how bad the pain gets, no matter how harrowing the torture, all bad things end.  That forgetting happens the second we give control over our emotions and actions to other people, which can easily happen when the pain is peaking.”  1 Goggins 114: 1-6.

This week’s sermon.

This week’s music choice.

    193.8# yesterday morning.

    • Chafed

Is that up, down, or sideways from where you started?

      • robc

        Yes.

      • robc

Down about 10 lbs this iteration. 184 is goal.

I think I was 195.0 last week and 195.8 two weeks ago.

      • Chafed

Good. You’re going in the right direction.

  2. UnCivilServant

I made my interiom 3 mile goal. and added in some upper body exercises with free weights.

I’d forgotten what day after muscle aches felt like.

    • Chafed

      Good job UCS.

      • UnCivilServant

My next goal is four miles.

      • UnCivilServant

Speaking of, it’s about time for my daily walk.

        Later, folks.

      • Fourscore

You’ll make it, I’m with you in spirit.

I lost about 10 lbs in the hospital, probably got 1/2 back. Not too much appetite because I don’t expend many calories.

      • Pope Jimbo

I’m trying to convince my aunt of this.

She has had some problems health-wise and needs to add weight. She is worried that exercising will burn too many calories so she sits around thinking she will get fatter.

Unfortunately she doesn’t have much of an appetite just sitting around so she doesn’t gain weight.

When I decide to do fasting, it is strange to me how hunger is bad for a day or two, but after that (if you just sit on your ass) it goes away with your appetite.

    • Nephilium

When I hit the next goal weight (195), I’m going to add back in the bowflex (which is currently sitting unused upstairs). At that point, my goal will shift from dropping weight to getting into better shape.

      • UnCivilServant

I’m at the point where diet doesn’t seem to help any more so I need to increase activity. My ‘better shape’ is just ‘less round’

      • Nephilium

For me, counting calories (as annoying as it is), is the only thing that really helps me drop weight. I ride because I enjoy it (and it gives me new gadgets and kit to drop money on that I can claim is fitness related), and the spin class I go to is specifically because they give stats. I accept and embrace my competitive nature. The instructor I usually go to doesn’t put the stats up for most of the ride. But there’s usually two or three pushes near the end, and I will do my damndest to win those pushes.

    • DEG

      Good.

    • Tundra

      Fuck yeah.

      Nice job UCS!

    • Pope Jimbo

      Ooh-rah that motivated PT!

      Keep it up UCS.

  3. westernsloper

I am going to listen to the sermon. Thanks! 26,000 mostly painful steps made yesterday.

    • Chafed

      “I don’t stop when I’m tired. I stop when I’m done.” 1 Goggins 2:7.

      • westernsloper

It was work so I didn’t have a choice so ya, quit when I was done. Sore as fuck today all over. Lifted some heavy stuff amidst the walking. The sermon is excellent.

  4. Nephilium

Hit a new low weight (and new low body fat percentage) over the past week (197.8/24.8). Hybrid bike needs to go in for more work then I’m able (willing) to do in the garage, but I’ve still got the road bike. Planning on taking it out for ~50 miles this week.

I’ve been keeping up the spin classes when the weather forecast is sub 50/rain. Last one I was in had some entertaining (to me and at least two others) stats at the end. The highest average power through the class was 201/201/200. I still managed best RPM in the class, and some self-depreciation in pointing out that I outweighed both of the other people who were close to me in average power.

Got a decent ride in yesterday up for brunch (first ride ever that managed to wind up with a 0.0% average grade) and back home for ~14 miles.

    • robc

If you end where you start you will average 0% grade.

      • Nephilium

This ride did not end where I started.

  5. Toxteth O'Grady

    I have a scale somewhere.

Oh look, Rand is on Maria Bartiromo.

  6. Fourscore

    Good advice from DG, Chafed.

I’m kind of laid low for now but the therapists started me on a regimen about the 5th/6th day I was in the hospital. Mobility with a walker/wheelchair. Leg exercises, foot exercises. They were unrelenting, 2 morning, 2 afternoon sessions. They have been visiting 3 times a week since I came home and in between I’m following their advice and that of the doctor.

Doc says 6 more weeks of no weight bearing on the bad leg and I seem to be doing pretty good. Off the pain meds, including Tylenol. I’m thinking all the walking/lifting I was doing up until I got hurt is the reason.

I’ll be happy to get back mobile, get outside and slowly get my life re-organized.

    • egould310

Good luck. Good health. Good times ahead.

    • Nephilium

So what I’m hearing is that since this year is out (due to a conflict), I need to convince the girlfriend to deal with the bees next year and go to the honey harvest.

      • Fourscore

Honey Harvest is on! At least for 2021. Third Sunday in Sept.

      • Nephilium

        That’s my plan.

I just need to convince the girlfriend. She’s terrified of bees and any flying insect. FFS, she ran away from a butterfly once.

      • Pope Jimbo

The only pest she would have to worry about at the HH is Tundra.

And he only flies off at the mouth.

Really, there are no bees at the HH. Fourscore has already stolen all their honey by that time and they are down at the bus station looking at an empty locker wondering how they were swindled by Fourscore.

      • Fourscore

The wild yellow jackets show up but they are only interested in the leftover honey

      • DEG

        Excellent.

      • UnCivilServant

I’m planning the much delayed 2020 road trip with my father to be in september, and if I can schedule it right, I might be able to make it this time.

If. Might. There’s still a lot of unknowns right now.

    • Gender Traitor

the therapists started me on a regimen about the 5th/6th day I was in the hospital. Mobility with a walker/wheelchair. Leg exercises, foot exercises. They were unrelenting, 2 morning, 2 afternoon sessions.

When Tom T wrapped up his formal physical therapy regimen following The Christmas Stroke, he got each of his physical therapists – one at the rehab center and two at the outpatient location – little engraved name badges that said “Sadistic Ogre.”

Glad to hear you’re progressing so well & quickly. Excelsior!

      • Fourscore

I called them “The Tormentors”. I sort of dreaded seeing them but all were young, enthusiastic with positive reinforcing. I was wearing m PJs from home that were slightly loose. One young female kept pulling my britches up in the back. I said “There are Plumber Pants”
She absolutely didn’t pick up on it.

The generational gap was apparent, a nurse asked me to rate the pain 1-10. I told her it was 11. Completely over her head…

      • hayeksplosives

I’m have my “training” session tomorrow with the physical therapy team at Mr Splosives’ rehabilitation facility tomorrow.

It’s supposed to last about 4 hours, followed by another hour with his neuropsychologist.

One of his nurses (almost all of whom are male at the rehab center, presumably because of all the lifting of patients they have to do) saw me in the hall recently as I was leaving after visiting hours. He told me that the point of the training and psych meeting was really to evaluate ME and my readiness to receive Mr Splosives back home.

If all goes well tomorrow, he’ll be coming home Tuesday! He’s still going to need a lot of in-home therapy and assistance as well as several outside appointments, but at least he will be in his own house for the first time since March 25.

That should help his motivation and progress significantly. Every day brings a significant improvement; at first, he couldn’t touch his nose with his left hand. He’s still impaired on the left side, but he can walk with the walker and is getting much more coordinated and balanced.

I’m going to bookmark this page for future reference, as it’s clearly going to be battle for a while to regain his independence.

        Fingers crossed!

      • UnCivilServant

Good to hear things are getting better.

      • DEG

This sounds good. I he gets home on Tuesday.

      • Nephilium

Hayek, I know you’re going through some shite. If you want, shoot me an e-mail at Google, and I can set you up with a full Zoom account that can use the running meeting link.

      • Gender Traitor

Wonderful news! I hope you pass the “audition.” 😉

I wish you and the mister as much luck as Tom T & I have had. Today it was finally sunny again, so we took a short walk down our street and around the corner to inspect some road work FINALLY being done on a little connector street that’s been closed for months (after the pavement over a culvert started to crumble away.) He can’t go far yet, but he can go slow & steady.

Has the mister tried any guitaring yet? What instrument have you settled on (or are you leaning toward) for most satisfying/least frustrating results?

      • westernsloper

        ?

      • deadhead

Best of luck! You’re an angel.

      • Pope Jimbo

        Nice example of Minnesoda Humble.

Fourscore, you were probably the sweetie of the Physical Therapists because of you progress (and attitude). PT’s love patients who recover and get better.

When my dad was recovering from Guillain-Barre he ended up in the rehab unit of the hospital where they worked with stroke victims.

He still says it haunts him how all the PT’s would fawn over him because he was recovering. He felt so bad for the stroke victims who were there trying to learn how to feed themselves again.

Glad to hear you are doing well (btw, clear out your phone’s voicemail box, I tried to leave you a message the other day and it was full)

    • DEG

It sounds like you are doing better. This is good.

    • westernsloper

      ?

    • Chafed

      Thanks Fourscore.

  7. The Late P Brooks

I’ll be happy to get back mobile, get outside and slowly get my life re-organized.

    Hang in there.

  8. The Late P Brooks

    Stop whining, Logano.

Go work at 7eleven, you big pussy.

  9. DEG

Weight is 265.6 lbs @ 26.4% bodyfat. Looking over my bodyweight history, there are some big drops over the last month. I made some dietary tweaks back then (smaller portions at lunch, more snacking on veggies), but I didn’t think they would result in that big of a drop.

The renovations at my gym are dragging out. Some members and the staff are annoyed. This phase of the renovations should have been done by now. There are some pieces of equipment that were available before the renovations, were taken down for the renovations, but aren’t back yet. There are some new pieces of equipment, including a belt squat machine. The trainer I worked with showed me how to use it and wants to incorporate it into a new program for me.

Since the governor rescinded his mask order, the staff at my gym have slowly stopped wearing masks. The governor’s business restrictions which require gym staff to wear masks are in place until May 7th and the city mask ordinance is in place, but the staff are slowly not giving a shit. I like it. I approve of it.

    Music selection is OK.

    • egould310

Music selection is good. Mr. Pop just celebrated his 73rd B-day this week. He outlived both David Bowie and Lou Reed. More Iggy https://youtu.be/CsZ4XIOEKLY

      • Nephilium

Did something happen to Lou Reed?

      • Chafed

He and Tupac are laying low while they create the greatest album evah!

    • Chafed

      Good job DEG.

  10. egould310

I ran alot this week. Tried to stay keto/low carb. But I run alot, so I splurged and ate a cheeseburger AND FRENCH FRIES! Anyways, looking food and feeling good. Work is busy and we’re scheduled out through June.

The Army Corps of Engineers is going to reopen the Ballard Locks this week, so my morning run is going to get super cool again. Forest runs, lots of hills and access to about 12 mi sq of roads I couldn’t get to before.

    • Nephilium

As spring starts, the trees have started growing leaves again, and the wind has started being less terrible.

Eventually, the waterfall will look green again. I ride by this dam on most of my 15+ mile rides.

      • egould310

Beautiful. There is no place in the world quite like Lorain, Cuyahoga, and Geauga Counties.

      • Nephilium

Sure… dump on Lake County. 🙂

After much traveling for various jobs, I understand how beautiful and rare the Metroparks are. I spent a lot of time in them when I was younger, and ride through them a lot now that I’m older.

    • Tundra

You are in heaven. Happy for you, dude.

  11. The Late P Brooks

I splurged and ate a cheeseburger AND FRENCH FRIES!

    Moderation in all things.

    Including moderation.

Everything in excess! To enjoy the flavor of life, take big bites. Moderation is for monks.

      –RAH

      • Trigger Hippie

Excess in moderation. Don’t get the cheap street hooker a few times a week, save up for months and get the high-end call girl. Don’t eat a shroom to trip, eat the whole bag and see God.

Heh, haven’t heard that one since a guy I dated in college. Proustian rush!

  12. IRBE

Hi Chafed, Thanks for this edition and greetings from NOCal. Beautiful hiking weather here with a little rain in the area. Drought articles from local fish wrap will need to be delayed…

Funny about the bible. I found my sons’ school bible in the car and have started reading daily passages from Old and New testaments. There is some ‘good stuff’ in there.

G-fit update: Sleep was good. Food was very proteinii. Hike mileage was 35 miles. Wim Hoff/meditative “ancient man” techniques; I didn’t do it much this week. Weight is held steady at 176 ish. Did limited MIIT…mostly stairs

Goals: Still not at goal weight max (175 ). Still not dead from Covid…Planning a 48 hr fast this week.

Covid Update: More distrust much dismay…Seems the clinical trials for all US vaccines have been compromised. Out of compassion and to avoid travesty, all study participants originally given placebo injections will be given the active vaccine. How magnanimous of the vaccine sponsors to “un-blind” these studies. This renders “long” term analysis of relative efficacy and safety unpossible…probably by design! This is a sinister and sad day for my industry…but it felt like “the right thing to do”.

Had a great conversation with a group of people about their perception/picture of the typical covid victim. For me, it is a woman in their last days at a LT/hospice care about 80 years old. For my friend’s vaccinated son, it was someone about my age but fatter with more melatonin..IOWs, his dad. Man, what a psych-ops. Wonder what the prevailing description is here?

De todos modos, ¡tenga una gran semana y sáltese una comida o tres!

    • Nephilium

My sleep has been shit the past week. I wish I knew a way to get it better. My Fitbit hasn’t event been able to track it three out of the past seven days.

Even the days it did track it and call my sleep good, I felt sleep deprived.

      • IRBE

A before bed routine is important for me. I use nite shades, a fan for “white noise” and keep the room cool. Some meditative breathing helps..if you are into that. I find that alcohol really ruins my sleep…more so, as I am older.

      • Lord Humungus

Stay up later. Workout more. Drink less booze at night.

      • Nephilium

My Monday through Friday involves no alcohol. it doesn’t help.

Needing to be up at 08:00 to work, means I’m in bed much earlier then I would prefer.

The working out more happens when I get down to 195 (which should happen in May).

      • Lord Humungus

There’s also Melatonin (I like mine mixed with Theanine and/or 5-HTP). Also 200mg of Magnesium Citrate.

Sometimes I also take a 1/2 dose of Unisom to help me fall asleep.

My big problem is sometimes waking up at 2-3AM and then stay awake thinking too much – it used to be about my job, but these days its antiques, booth setup, or planning for the things I need to do the next day.

Really the only way I’m “guaranteed” good sleep is to do so much physical activity (working outdoors) that I get exhausted. ie – I should have been a farmer! This modern life of sitting around too much and tip-tapping on the keyboard just leads to too much energy.

    • Chafed

I have little doubt vaccinating the control arm was deliberate and designed to make long term studies impossible.

      • Gustave Lytton

Or because vaccine trials aren’t being conducted by Unit 731.

      • IRBE

I agree. On the surface it looks like “it is the right thing” to do but it’s not. It is wrong for all the important reasons.

That is not say I am a purist about un-blinding..I have been apart of un-blinding studies using treatment INDs for drugs that were promising for terminal patients. In fact, I got my FIL onto a trial for an MS drug when there were no therapies.

I even admitted that I would likely take a vaccine if it gave me some freedom. But based on what I have read there are SAEs that are more than probable for direct family members. What are they going to be..second class, back of the bus because they are not taking a vaccine.

This ONE is personal, professional and spiritual for me. This is my HILL and I plan to defend it.

  13. Lazer

still didn’t get to gym; work and umpiring, and today yard work are keeping me at the same weight.

Got a new vape; I have to severely cut back on smoking currently about 3/4 pack a day, more on weekends. Also am going to need to stop drinking Sun-Thur. Not that I over indulge them days but I notice how much better I feel in the mornings without alcohol the night before. Need to use that Goggins about betterment on the other side of pain!

Kick ass and screw the branch covidians!

  14. Trigger Hippie

Reverse Glib Fit: My steady diet of beer and unhealthy foods has finally gotten me to almost 180 lbs. Just about five pounds of fat more to go.

  15. Gender Traitor

OK, I finally did it! I got on the treadmill for the first time in months and walked (if the machine’s display is to be trusted) about 1.5 miles at 3 MPH. For a moment, I was afraid the machine had finally crapped out, but it had just become mostly unplugged. Even better, I did not crap out. Today’s pace is certainly not where I’d been when I used the ‘mill more regularly – my usual rate in the past was 3.3 MPH, and I think I’d usually tough it out for at least 45 minutes – but it’s a start.

Most importantly, if I can get off my butt and do this at least once over the weekend consistently, that will be a third exercise session each week after my Tuesday evening “Butts & Guts” class at the Y and my Thursday evening lap swimming. And it won’t leave a five-day gap between rounds of physical activity.

Weight has been holding steady…ish, as I’ve had mixed success resisting tasty temptation, but I still don’t have to lie down on the bed and grab the zipper pull with locking pliers to get into my “skinny” jeans, so…..yay?

    • UnCivilServant

      Yay.

I never got the knack of walking on a treadmill (I keep falling down/falling off) So I walk outside.

I’m sure you can keep it up.

      • Gender Traitor

Thanks. An improvement in the weather certainly helped my motivation today. Yesterday was chilly, wet, and dreary. It shouldn’t lessen my inclination to exercise indoors, but I know such conditions affect my mood, and I feel more like napping than walking. As the weather continues to warm up, I hope that will help keep me on track. And on treadmill.

      • egould310

Yesterday was chilly, wet, and dreary. That’s exactly why I moved to Seattle.

Yesterday was a good day. Rainy and cold makes for good running weather. Later took a walk in the rain to get lunch. Walking in the rain necessarily means stopping in bars to have a drink.

      • Gender Traitor

I’d probably end up Cobaining myself if I lived somewhere so constantly gray and rainy. I’m a big fan of walking, but I only condone running in cases of flight or pursuit.

Love your new avatar. Someone you know?

      • egould310

My (current) avatar is Gussie. She is a little grey cat that my neighbors in Long Beach owned. I’d let her into our apartment and we’d have adventures together. Mostly just crawling around and sniffing things. That’s what she liked to do most.

      • egould310

I took this photo of Gussie as I was leaving to Seattle. She looks a little pissed off.

      • Gender Traitor

And how was your walk today, U?

    • DEG

      Good!

    • Tres Cool

      Trust me- you look maaaahhhhvelous

      • Gender Traitor

        Aw, shucks! Thanks, homey! **blushes**

I WOULD like to state publicly that, notwithstanding Tres’s kind & gracious compliment above, I like to think that I don’t really fit his consistently-expressed preferences vis-a-vis female body type. Not that there’s a darn thing wrong with his preferences – I just don’t want to emulate them.

        (Was that sufficiently tactful?)

      • Nephilium

So if I head down to Dayton, I should bring multiple bikes so we can get a nice easy 20 mile ride in?

        /shushes deadhead already

      • Nephilium

It’s very flat up here in northern Ohio. In fairness, the girlfriend also argues about a 10 mile ride being a warm up.

      • Gender Traitor

        Ummm….sure…..

If there’s any such route to be found ’round these parts, it should be somewhere on this map.

Maybe we can find a bike trail that’s downhill all the way?

      • Nephilium

The problem with routes that are all downhill is that the way back is all uphill. But us fat men win the downhills easily.

      • Gender Traitor

That’s why you arrange for a motor vehicle to pick you up at the end. You know – like a canoe trip!

us fat men win the downhills easily

        Check your gravity privilege! 😉

      • UnCivilServant

Oh there’s a simple fix. You have someone drive to the bottom of the route and pick everyone up for the return trip.

      • Nephilium

        GT:

I’m trying to convince the girlfriend that she needs to canoe the Mohican this summer.

And the point (at least for me) of cycling is to give myself an excuse to eat brunch because I biked there.

      • westernsloper

Not always. Last monday I had the day off so went for a ride. My usual single track uphill challenge trying to stroke out. It is not a steep climb but enough. I made it further than I had before so I counted it as a win. When I let my heart get to non stroke mode I turned the bike around and headed back down. I could see a lot of the trail behind me and knew I was alone.
When I got to the parking lot some dude out of nowhere was on my ass. Fucking fit people. I was just trying to not crash.

      • Gender Traitor

        U: Great minds think alike!?

      • Gender Traitor

Neph: I find the thought of canoeing quite appealing, though I don’t believe I’ve gone since high school. We’re quite close to what I believe is considered a navigable river, and even if the closest stretch isn’t an ideal spot, we’re not much further away from one of the MetroParks where paddling is possible.

        westersloper:

I make a decision not to pedal on the few downhills I can find around here. Considering I hit 25+ MPH with no pedaling, I think it’s the right decision.

Comparing Colorado to Ohio, I’m terrified what you call an easy climb.

      • Nephilium

        GT:

My parents took my family down to the Mohican river on a yearly basis. It’s got a special place in my heart. As I mentioned upthread, I really didn’t appreciate the Metroparks until I had traveled a lot.

I may have convinced the girlfriend to try kayaking/paddleboarding this year. Hopefully canoeing will come later this year (or next).

    • Toxteth O'Grady

      Hooray!

Re earlier, I hope you know that Song 2 is not generally representative of Blur’s discography.

      • Gender Traitor

Duly noted. The little “Woo hoo!” bit is all I’d ever heard as a sound clip at baseball games, so I had no clue who it was. Is there any chance I’ve heard something more typical of their repertoire? (Disclaimer: I listen to pathetically little currently-popular music – the downside of the specialization allowed by satellite radio.)

      • Toxteth O'Grady

        That nested well. /sigh

    • Chafed

Yay! You are going in the right direction and looking to do more. That’s a win.

  16. egould310

Watching “The Enforcer”. Dirty Harry is the best. Dude knew how to navigate.

  17. Tundra

    Chafed!

I have sinned, my brother! I have been seduced by the demons of no sleep, poor eating and a skipped workouts.

Fuck it. Big changes coming for me so I need to stand up and be strong.

And no better example than our pal, Fourscore. Doc said six more weeks and he’s free.

See kids, this is why you get your fat ass under a bar, log some miles and do physical labor. Keep it simple and consistent and you too can be Fourscore.

    Have a great week!

      Do or die.

Forgiveness can be found in the Church of St. Goggins. Come in and repent.

  18. westernsloper

The sermon was enlightening. I discovered a demon, (sort of, I knew it was there but ignore it) and I started crying at a point in it. (maybe some day I will share) The Goggins fucking brings that out in you. The mother fucker. The points I took most to heart from it though was his talking about the psoas muscle. My hip flexers are tighter thanthan a frogs asshole. My right calf is a god damn knot and causes me to limp after walking more than 50 yds. Docs say it is all sciatic nerve related and want to shoot me up in the spine. Ya there are numerous herniated discs there, (MRI) but is shooting me up the best path? I dunno. I did a bit of research I am not sure I am cool with that.

    • westernsloper

Now I am going to go stretch my psoas and have some tequila which is good for my soul.

      • Chafed

Emphasis on the stretching. Keep at it and you will get more relief than you thought possible.

    • Toxteth O'Grady

      Prolotherapy?

  19. Mojeaux

My Glibfit has consisted of dragging luggage in and out of hotels.

    • Gender Traitor

So call it “arm day” and consider it weight training!

      • Tundra

        It is. But not arms.

        Farmer walks and Suitcase Deadlifts.

        Nice job, Mo!

    • Toxteth O'Grady

Moje! You back home? Did you survive?

      • Mojeaux

Not home yet. One more hard day of driving. Paducah, KY –> KCMO. More luggage hauling.

I’m getting too old for this road trip business but I hate the TSA.

Sadly, I did not make it to the National Quilt Museum in Paducah before it closed.

      • UnCivilServant

I did not make it to the National Quilt Museum in Paducah before it closed.

        🙁

        Sorry to hear that.

McCracken County is a weird place.

I think gaseous diffusion might be bad for the neighborhood.

    • Chafed

      Work is work.

    • Pope Jimbo

Very Q-ish NSFW. Not weird, not strange, not risque. Just straight up nudity.

      • Tundra

        Terrible pushups.

Still the best video on the Internet.

Well done, Holiness. You win GlibFit for 2021.

      • OBJ FRANKELSON

I will gladly help her with her form.

      • TARDis

        Terrible pushups.

Better than the last ones I tried to do.

      • Pope Jimbo

You need to remember that her balance is different from your’s.

      • Tundra

        And thank God for that.

        *watches again*

      • Pope Jimbo

Remember to switch arms each time you watch it. You don’t want to overdevelop one side.

    • Lord Humungus

boob job or just a very uh toned chest?

      • OBJ FRANKELSON

Boob job… still aesthetically pleasing, all the same.

      • Chafed

        This guy gets it.

    • Chafed

Thank you for picking up Q’s slack. I encourage more of this.

    • westernsloper

      Oh my.

  20. Lord Humungus

I made some minor changes to my workout plan: same routine, just lower reps with heavier weights.

For quite a few weeks I was doing 4X10 or 4X12, which is great for toning. Now going for 3X8 – flies, benchpress, dips, etc.

I should probably run out and buy a few more 10 pound plates so I can add some additional dumbbell weight.

My biggest problem has been trying to balance the food consumption with the workouts; so easy to get fat in the gut with the additional protein intake and being home all the time, giving me more access to snacking or cooking larger meals.

Also: I went to my favorite watering hole and was getting checked out by two 40+ year old ladies who couldn’t keep their eyes off of me. After EF and I paid, they swiveled on their seats to check me out. I felt like a piece of meat ::runs out crying::

It’s ironic that I’m fitter – at age 50 – than I’ve ever been but now I have old ladies checking me out who I have zero interest in.

    • Chafed

Good work o lord of the wasteland.

    • Lord Humungus

I’m still unhappy with my arms – biceps/triceps are never as large as I wish they were. It’s just my height and body structure – I have long-ass monkey arms that, in my younger years, that looked like Finn the Human.
      https://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/vsbattles/images/4/46/FinnRender.png/revision/latest?cb=20161206201048

Now they’re ~15″ in diameter and toned but meh… I think I’m cursed trying to build muscle mass there. My calves, on the other hand. would make many of a bodybuilder jealous.
