After the Vogons wiped the entire Sol system clean, Humans were scattered amongst the worlds, like rats on a ship, the Elon had taken over most of human space, overwhelming the humans there with his mind fuckery, rendering Trillions incapable of being little more than drones, drugged and domesticated, not much more than cows. Gliese was unaffected by Elon, so I grabbed 5 ships with the Black, 5500 souls in all, and we GTFO. I know other ships tried, we watched them burn up as Elon Tightbeamed them, we were FTL, so he couldn’t get us, maybe.

At 15c, we figured we would make Gliese in 2 weeks when Bang! We dropped from light speed and the Black was dead, just a junk pile of carbon, not worth shit, so we ditched it. It may seem very callous to toss such an artifact, but at relativistic speeds, mass counts, and at coast, now it would be 6 months til we arrived, kids on rocket decks would get there faster, sheesh.

Gliese 2235.2 After 6 months of hell, we made it to my personal world, and relative safety, things were humming along, my money was safe, and we could all relax for a while. The boys were paid handsomely, but all of them are ready to go at the drop of a hat, they are rich men due to me! I’m the Jack Aubrey of my Age! Lucky Jack they called him.

Kerry chose to stay with me at my Estate, I set her up with a nice lab, and she got a WFH gig with a defense contractor, so we are both happy. I still play Temporal disc golf, and wish I was living back in the 25c. But here I am.  Gwendolyn is long gone, like my home, but I have moved on, Kerry is a comfort, but can’t really fill my life, and as a FreeBot, she has her own life, and that’s fine with us both. So I search ever forward, with the Gwen fueled and ready to Go!

Then Elon Called, Shit!

Yusef, I am Watching

“I know”

Don’t fuck this up Yusef

    These sound like cool people.

  4. The Hyperbole

You know who else categorized a certain sub set of humanity as cattle?

    • Yusef drives a Kia

      Sauron Supermen?

    • DrOtto

      Weight Watchers?

    • Brochettaward

My categorization of all seconders as subhuman is scientific fact.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

In my Tale, you are nothing more than drugged Cattle, at Elon’s whim, Meanwhile the the Glibs have their own planet, oop!
        I!

      • Brochettaward

That’s all it is. A “Tale.” In real life, I am the Perfect Man. The First of Firsters.

      • kinnath

Not supported by the evidence at hand.

      • Toxteth O'Grady

We missed you at brunch at Dorsia, dwarling; didn’t you get the memo?

      • Brochettaward

I had to return some video tapes.

Also, if this actually happened, I’m on the other coast.

      • Toxteth O'Grady

I hope you will be back in time for our Annie Liebowitz photo shoot.

So many Freckles, so much real! Yeah!

      • TARDis

Indeed. If only freckles were epidermal clitorises. For XXs I mean.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

I adore Green eyed Redheads with freckles, sorry, they know who they are….

    • UnCivilServant

      Too muhc ink… 🙁

      Whycome you hate me, Q?

      • slumbrew

20 looks ink-free and is a fine colleen, albeit a bit young, perhaps.

19 is really more in my wheelhouse, but the stupid septum piercing doesn’t bode well in the ink department.

    • Chafed

Sure you’ve got some love for Yusef. Where were you yesterday for GlibFit?

  5. Yusef drives a Kia

I really needed to wrap this up, I want to write something better, I’m reading “On writing” by Steven King, and his first recce was the Elements of Style, I know this book, and will study it, my next foray may turn out more coherent if nothing else,

    • Brochettaward

I could teach you how to write better. But you would have to bow to me.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

      • The Bearded Hobbit

You know you are an asshole, right?

    • Yusef drives a Kia

Just bought a paper version of EOS, yaya!

      • UnCivilServant

        I wish you great luck.

For me, I learned less from readinb than from just writing. More practice and learning from experience how to improve.

But, different people learn in different ways.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

Thanks, i write songs, some good stuff, but I want to go further, not you, but short stories at least,

      • The Hyperbole

“just” is superfluous here – “I learned less from reading than from writing” is better, same with the first “different” in your ultimate sentence – “People learn in different way” does the job and isn’t needlessly wordy. All people are ‘different’ no need reinforce the obvious.

        /Elmore Leonard

      • Yusef drives a Kia

        Writers War! It’s On!

      • Yusef drives a Kia

        Damn! thanks!
        Less is more,

      • UnCivilServant

Less can be more, but less can also be too little.

      • Toxteth O'Grady

        You think?

      • Yusef drives a Kia

I worry about too much detail, maybe in some places, but not others? these are my questions.. some,

      • UnCivilServant

If you’re worried about going into too much detail, ask what you can trim without breaking the story. If you don’t know, find someone whose opinion you can trust and get a second opinion. Or sit on it for a while and reread it later.

      • Chipping Pioneer

        Hemingway haz a sad.

      • The Hyperbole

Read Leonard’s “10 rules on writing” and King’s and Hemingway’s, and any other pompous asshole that thinks they can tell anyone else how to write. Read them, but ignore them for the most part, just trust your instincts. Unless your instincts tell you to follow my advice, in that case you’re most likely fucked, look into pizza delivery, it’s honest work and nobody checks your spelling.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

I will take your words under advisement. SP told me a long while back, write what you know.
I want to write longer stories,

      • Gustave Lytton

“Wtf? This is a larger pup-peroni! Bad driver, no tip for you!”

    • hayeksplosives

      I love it, Yusef!

The engineer sounds like a good egg. 😉

    • Hank

What I remember about Stephen King is he writes about whatever scares him, so that the reader can be scared, too.

His best stuff was in the 1970s and 1980s when he was launching into the stratosphere.

Bonus info: His son’s professional name is Joe Hill, and he’s pretty good, though you’d *never guess in a million years* who his dad is.

Only old farts are going to recognize where it came from.

      • The Hyperbole

I don’t get it and I’m an old fart, Is it Dr Zaius smashing his own foot?

      • The Hyperbole

In that case they should have mimicked the type font and placement, and I still don’t understand why Dr Zaius’s foot is exploding and why he’s wielding a giant protractor.

      • rhywun

        *snort*

      • Gustave Lytton

Dr Zaius! Dr Zaius! Ohhhhh! Dr Zaius!

      • LCDR_Fish

Pretty big selection on the site. Fun stuff.

      • Chipping Pioneer

I think that’s a good thing. Was also shopping for t shirts tonight. Looking for subtle. Things that I understand but very few others (present company excluded) would. E.g., AnCap star t shirt. Most people I encounter in daily life will have no clue what it is.

      • Chipping Pioneer

I might also design my own :

How old you think I am?

      • Sensei

Just remembering when I looked up “musko” and found its surprising second usage.

Of course now anytime in NYC I see a table of Chinese toast each other and say “chin chin” I inwardly chuckle.

  6. straffinrun

My kid has been blasting this song every day for 2 weeks. I’m ready to take as many Pfizer vaccines as necessary to end this misery.

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr_9b-Lt-pk

    • Tejicano

My kids have that K-Pop song (the one that became a big hit recently – I can’t bring myself to type the title) in heavy rotation recently. I’m glad I never got into music seriously, otherwise the next 10 years would ruin me.

      • straffinrun

It’s weird how they still have one song that will get beaten to death for a half a year and then you never hear it again. That ended in the early 90s in the states IIRC.

      • Gustave Lytton

Seems like that was still the case up until I bailed to mp3 and SiriusXM (and hear the same songs on the popish channels but don’t listen to those as much as I did radio).

Btw, thanks for your words of beer wisdom. Another hotel night and have several of these crappy cans but so what.

    • Chafed

Aerosmith is preparing a collective grave in which to roll over.

      • OBJ FRANKELSON

I am convinced that Steven Tyler was replaced with one of those puppets from that Genesis video in the early 90’s.

      • Chafed

That would explain the foray into country music.

      • Tejicano

Very glad to be missing that.

There’s only two kinds of music I don’t care much for – country and western.

      • Chafed

I’m not a country fan either. So I ignore what he’s done and think of Draw The Line.

      • Tejicano

I have no idea what Steve Tyler is doing in the country music industry and will not be clicking.

I will continue to listen to The Other Side as well as Kings and Queens among others of earlier times.

      • Chafed

        Transgender Steven clone?

      • Gustave Lytton

Another youthful memory to be tossed away.

When you’re First, there are no crowds.

  7. Gustave Lytton

Bums who can’t rub two nickels together to provide for their own housing or get to the property warehouse somehow manage to file a class action in federal court… bullshit. Every piece of shit attorney and homeless activist behind this needs to wake up with a horse head in their bed tomorrow morning. That’s the only way this will stop.

    https://www.oregonlive.com/portland/2021/05/homeless-individuals-file-class-action-suit-over-city-of-portland-losing-their-possessions-amid-encampment-razing.html

    • Chafed

There have been successful lawsuits like that in California. It’s largely bullshit. I don’t want the cops seizing a bum’s property because they can. That bum also has 5th Amendment rights. But, at some point property is abandoned, garbage, or presents a safety hazard so it needs to be removed or destroyed.

      • Gustave Lytton

48 hour notice to clear their illegal squat is more than adequate and they don’t seem to be prevented from leaving with their property.

Of course the cities aren’t contesting this really, because at their heart they are sympathetic or at the least don’t want to be called a big meanie Hitler.

      • Chafed

I know it’s late but do we have a minyan?

    • Not Adahn

So we can break into her place, just as long as we only steal food, beverages, clothing, bedding and medical supplies, right? Oh and cash, becasue cash is a basic necessity. And of course, items which may be exchanged for cash.

  8. Gustave Lytton

Wonderful. New hotel, so of course up to date with all of the latest code requirements and suggestions. Goddam childproof outlets in a hotel room. Which won’t release with my USB adapters’ plugs. The Collapse can’t come soon enough. Sure I’ll be eating grass and twigs also, but it will be worth it.

You can force a screwdriver in there.

      • Gustave Lytton

My insulated tools are downstairs and I took my shoes off already.

      • hayeksplosives

What voltage are your tools insulated to?

I don’t usually bother with them at work since I have to use class 3 gloves with them anyway. Man, those are cumbersome.

Best to ensure there’s no stored energy left, place the shorting strap, and shed the gloves. Can’t do much more than that in the gloves anyway, other than manipulate a dead-front elbow.

      • Gustave Lytton

More than I really need, it’s a nice Wiha set. I rarely work on energized power connections but I try to maintain the spirit. Was replacing a power supply one time with a buddy. He was checking the input leads after. and slipped his probe… one nice flash and some missing metal in the tip of the test leads.

Nothing like the power levels you’ve got. Those give me the heebies.

    • rhywun

“I’m gonna decide if I think it makes sense to get involved. I don’t rule it in, I don’t rule it out,” de Blasio said at May 17 press briefing when asked if he was planning on making an endorsement.

LOL that’s the kind of take-charge attitude we’ve come to love from Bill.

  9. hayeksplosives

    I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this, Yusef.

Kind of sad it’s over, but all things come to an end. Except the memories; those we get to keep, unsullied by time and distance and decay.

Ya’ll remember that musician, Liberace ?

Ya know, he was one helluva piano-player but he really sucked on the organ!

    HEY-OHHH!

/Tres is hammered on his night off

    • Chafed

What did you do to get assigned to 3rd shift?

      • Tejicano

And I hope it was fun but it didn’t happen if you can’t share the photos.

      • Tres Cool

Oh, Ive been doing this for months now

      • Chafed

I know. Who did you piss off?

      • Tres Cool

I accepted the terms when I took the gig. Nobody to blame ‘cept myself.

  11. Tejicano

I just saw yet another article about the GOP not being able to quit Trump. They definitely are not following a diet low in irony.

If the media would stop giving Trump airtime – and if the entire lefty blogosphere would do the same – he would soon dry up and blow away. Yes, his fervent followers would continue to keep his memory alive but it’s the never-ending OMB hate which makes him valid.

As much as I hate where the pre-Harris administration is taking us the only way out I see would be a strong opposition candidate in 2024 and I’m not sure Trump can do it.

    • Hank

I think there’s moves to make Santis the next Goldstein.

      • Tejicano

I’d have to google/DuckDuckGo who those names are.

If they really matter it will be brought to my attention.

      • Hank

Goldstein is the all-purpose villain in Party ideology in Orwell’s 1984.

Santis (de Santis) is the governor of Fla.

      • Tejicano

Thanks for the Cliff Notes. I doubt I would have figured that out.

      • Tejicano

Bleah… on reading that it sounded sarcastic which is the opposite of my intention. I truly didn’t know and wouldn’t have figured out the Goldstein reference.

      • Hank

On the Internet, everything sounds sarcastic.

      • hayeksplosives

You just know that Soros is richly funding opposition research on de Santis right now.

The lefties and the statist righties are scared shitless of his popularity and his stance that government shouldn’t have that much control over people’s lives.

    • Tres Cool

“If the media would stop giving Trump airtime – and if the entire lefty blogosphere would do the same – he would soon dry up and blow away.”

Trump has been in the media for 30+ years. He’s a bloviating, self-perpetuating, showman. He deliberately says/does shit to wind-up TMITE and let’s them do his PR and marketing.
He has ca$h which is why politicos were always fellating him.

      /looks @ Bill & Hillary

      • Hank

        I’m not pro-Trump, but anti-anti-Trump.

Having said that, I hope some better person gets the nod in 2024, though the chances are they’ll get someone worse.

  12. Hank

“The FBI has launched an investigation into a suspicious package containing a white powder and a threatening letter that was sent to Rand Paul just a day after Richard Marx praised the man who assaulted the senator from Kentucky in 2017.

“The package which arrived at Paul’s home also contained a doctored image of the Republican who is seen heavily bandaged and walking with the aid of a crutch as a rifle appears aimed at his head.

“‘I’ll finish what your neighbor started, you motherf[uc]ker,’ the message on the package reads.”

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9615101/Senator-Rand-Paul-receives-death-threat-package-white-powder.html

    • Brochettaward

When Paul is finally assassinated by a Democrat, it will be interesting to see how they spin it as non-political.

      • Tres Cool

They’ll spin it as an act of a mentally deranged individual, emotionally hurt by Rand’s rhetoric, and use it as another excuse to bolster their argument for gun control.

      • hayeksplosives

Easy peasy. No one will call them on it.

Like the softball game where the Bernie Bro shot up the GOP congressman, if it was anyone’s fault is was the GOP for not outlawing guns.

      • LCDR_Fish

    • hayeksplosives

Holy cow, what a pathetic washed up asshole Richard Marx (no relation…I assume) has turned into.

So I guess he’s saying whatever it takes, he’ll be right there waiting for Rand Paul.

      CWAA.

      • Hank

I had to look him up, I didn’t recognize the songs, but that refrain sounds familiar, but not in a good way, thank you so very much for the earworm.

      • hayeksplosives

Sorry. My first “boyfriend” back was into his shitty songs.

That should have been a tip-off that he (the boyfriend) was gay. But no, I didn’t see it until much later, and by that time we had broken up.

It was high school and my gaydar was uncalibrated back then.

      • Hank

I saw on Wikipedia that he did something with ‘N Sync, not that I’d wish harm on him for that, Lord forbid…well, except I hope he got a bad review.

  13. hayeksplosives

Way-too-local Newsflash: local gal makes good; gets some of her taxes back from California.

I’m the local gal. I had to take unpaid Family Medical Leave for all of April to provide care for my husband through his ordeal. I burned through my cash savings during that time; bills and mortgage don’t take leave.

I figured I was just SOL for a while, but then someone told me that one of the many state taxes I paid goes to fund a FML state budget item wherein Cali pays 60-70% of the salary of anyone taking FML, up to 8 weeks. I applied and got one of the doctors to sign the paperwork to the effect that yes, I had to take off work to be his caregiver for April.

I had almost given up but three fat checks arrived today from the state as 70% compensation for my salary for those 4-5 weeks.

I know that over time I will more than pay that amount back into California coffers through future taxes, but it is certainly a relief now, especially with only one paycheck arriving this month.

Phew. Finally a benefit that is coming in handy. Now I won’t have to put groceries or appliance repairs on credit card.

Once again, I don’t approve of this program as a state “duty” but by golly if I’’m overtaxed anyway, I’m certainly going to get what I can to show for it.

    • Tejicano

I’m of the opinion that it was your money in the first place – I would wager that you’ve paid more than that amount into the “public weal” before so no harm to anybody else for just getting some of it back. Especially when you had done everything you could to prepare for the rainy day which showed up and just needed to get by to keep from going into the red.

      • hayeksplosives

Thanks, Tejicano. I feel less dirty now. Yeah, I’ve paid Cali taxes since 2018. I’m sure I’ve paid in more already than what I’m getting out.

And it’s a better use of money than paying whiny public school teachers to sit on their asses for a couple of years due to COVID.

I’ll read the fine print tomorrow about whether the checks are taxable next April.

      • Tejicano

I’ll never forget my first career shock.

After finishing 4 years as a Marine grunt to get my GI Bill so I could go to school… then busting my butt for 4 years to graduate Tau Beta Pi with a BS MechE… to score (what I thought was) a well paying job with a big-name company in silicon valley…

This first weekend I was shopping at the local supper market, chit-chatting with the dude bagging my groceries, found out he was making more per hour (gross) than I was getting paid per hour after taxes. From my time in the military I already knew how much the feds took from my pay but wasn’t prepared for how much CA would take on top of that.

      • hayeksplosives

This is exactly why income tax withholding is insidious.

And then when people get a tax refund, they feel gratitude to the government for giving them some money.

Free Stuff™ comes in many forms in California but I almost never qualify because I make “too much money” according to bleeding heart libs. Anyone who thinks it’s only millionaires and billionaires paying punitive taxes is delusional. Fair share my ass.

Thank you for your service, btw.

Good morning, Yu & homey! We’re going to our first Dayton Dragons minor league baseball game in what seems like forever TONIGHT!!! Got a screen shot of our electro-tickets on my phone, our paper parking pass, and a mess of coupons to thank us for letting our season ticket $$$ carry over from ’20 to ’21. Not our usual seats tonight, but with any luck we’ll get those back in time for our next game.

I don’t think it’s even going to rain! Of course, our beloved Mythical Fire-Breathing Reptiles are probably going to lose – winning would be too much to ask. Don’t care, as long as we’re there!

      • Yusef drives a Kia

    • Gender Traitor

It’s 67 and sunny down here in Sinus Valley. Poor Reliable Co-worker’s allergies have been getting the better of him – he left early Friday and called off yesterday, so another co-worker and I were reliable for HIM for a change.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

        Off to be reliable, cheers!

    • Tejicano

The Philippines? Unless you’re talking 95+% humidity you aren’t even in the neighborhood.

Even coming directly there from Okinawa in July it felt oppressive.

    Mornin’ All,

Now that the p-demic is winding down , Fauci the doctor, is taking the heat for the all the BS incurred. There are a lot of someones that owe us a year back of our lives. I don’t have any to spare at this point.

While I don’t have an animosity towards the doc think it’s only fair that he be charged for my lost year and it be added on to my account. A free vaccine doesn’t cut it and I’m skipping that anyway.

      • Tres Cool

        suh’ fam

      • UnCivilServant

I don’t know. I’m tired. I haven’t had my walk in two days, and I’ve got work at 7pm tonight in addition to the normal workday.

      • Gender Traitor

Some days it’s just too hot to walk outside.

Hope you can take your comp time for tonight ASAP.

      • UnCivilServant

Well, that’s the problem I don’t know how much time it will be.

Though I may just go “I’m taking a half day during the workday to take a nap so I don’t fall asleep during the live migration when data is at stake.

      • Gender Traitor

        Irrefutable reasoning!

      • UnCivilServant

Speaking of too hot to walk outside, tomorrow’s forecast to be a high of 88 and thunderstorming.

      • Gender Traitor

Yikes! I hope the rain cools things down some and doesn’t just turn the whole area into a steambath! 🙁

      • UnCivilServant

Thursday is supposed to be cooler.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Fauci’s been a fear monger and a liar, for everyone’s own good of course, and I hope he goes down in flames although I don’t expect it.

      • Gender Traitor

As soon as he’s no longer Useful, I’d expect to see him quickly become Expendable. Who else to be the scapegoat when the time comes?

      • Gender Traitor

Oh – and good morning, Stinky!

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Morning, probably all comes down to his role or the lack thereof in funding the gain of function stuff. Now that the lab origin hypothesis has come to the fore he might actually be done.

    • Gender Traitor

      Good morning, 4(20) & U!

I think you have a legitimate claim to a year back from Fauci, and I would support your petition for same. I confess I’ve felt most sorry for young folks – children going through this nonsense before they’ve even had a chance to experience life The Way It Used To Be – kids whose high school (and to a lesser degree, college) and other milestone experiences have been ruined irredeemably. (College had probably already been ruined even before the latest round of insanity.)

    • Sean

      Mornin y’all.

      I’m already cranky. Yay.

      • Gender Traitor

        Aw, c’mon! Cheer up! 😉

      • UnCivilServant

        *contemptuously* Toons.

        /Eddie Valiant

      • Sean

        Heh.

  17. Tres Cool

Im going to bed. Ive been up all night.

    • rhywun

It’s going to get… interesting, seeing how this shakes out everywhere.

Will humanity shake off the mass hysteria and pretend the last year never happened? We are pretty good at “forgetting” things.

      • Tejicano

Forgetting what? Shyte I never wanted to do in the first place? No idea what you’re talking about.

    • rhywun

      Heard about that.

Who doesn’t want to wear the ribbon?

      • Sean

        *raises hand*

      • Tejicano

If they start pushing a “Black Live Matter” ribbon or pin with that logo on it I hope/pray that Maj Toure comes up with a similar one with his “Black Guns Matter” logo on it. If he doesn’t do it I’d be super tempted to do it and send the proceeds (minus no more than my costs) to his organization. I’d love to have a faux-woke symbol to counter this BS while contributing to something that actually does some good.

  18. Festus

Belated Mornin’ Friends and Neighbors! Yesterday was Sunday carried over to Monday because of the holiday. Short week, at least.

    • Sean

      Festus!

      *cue studio audience applause*
