My Sear It & Beer It guys just need some editing time, then I can get back to being lazy on Friday nights. Unfortunately, the Cryptids have demanded time tonight – and I always draw the short straw when it comes to hosting. So, now that I am settled in the armored studio control room, we can begin. Let’s go.
ZARDOZ will lead us off. What do you have for us, Big Guy?
ZARDOZ SPEAKS TO YOU, HIS CHOSEN ONES. THE USUAL FOOLISH ADVICE BRUTAL WILL BE SHOWN TO BE COMPLETELY INFERIOR TO ZARDOZ. BEHOLD!
Q: My daughter is separated from her husband, who rents a room from me. Recently, without telling her, he dropped her from his insurance. Now she wants me to kick him out and she’s mad at me because I refuse to do it. She says it shows I approve of his behavior. She tells me that he’s no good, he used her and he hit on her girlfriend. She’s threatening that if I let him stay, we won’t be close anymore. He pays me on time, and I hardly ever see him because he works at night. I need the rent money, and we have always gotten along great. I say this is my house and I should decide if he leaves. What do you think?
A: ZARDOZ IS NOT PLEASED. THIS IS ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO PUNK HIM. THIS IS REALLY A PLOT LINE FROM A WORN OUT PORONOGRAPHIC FILM TREND, IS IT NOT? HAS ZARDOZ NOT WARNED YOU THAT THE PENIS IS EVIL?! HOWEVER, SINCE THIS IS ADVICE NIGHT, ZARDOZ WILL TREAT THIS AS REAL. TELL YOUR DAUGHTER THAT UNLESS SHE CAN COMPENSATE YOU, NOBODY MOVES. OR, SHE CAN PAY OFF THE ROOM IN GRAIN, DELIVERABLE TO THE VORTEX…THEN ZARDOZ CAN HAVE A FEW BRUTAL EXTERMINATORS COME AROUND AND HAVE A NICE TALK WITH YOUR SON IN LAW.
ZARDOZ HAS SPOKEN.
OK then. That would be one way to solve that dilemma. Next up, STEVE SMITH. What does our prominent forest lawyer have to say tonight?
STEVE SMITH LIKE GIVE ADVICES. ALMOST AS MUCH AS FIND CAMPER OR HIKER. HIM DECIDE GIVE BETTER ADVICE THAN SILLY HOOMAN “MISS MANNERS“. STEVE SMITH GOOD AT MANNERS. LOOK HOW GOOD HIM ADVICING IS!
Q: My only sibling passed away 18 months ago. She had two daughters, both in their 50s. During the pandemic, one of my nieces planned her wedding for this spring. Why now is anybody’s guess, as she has been living with the man for over 10 years. In chatting with her a few months ago, she made it clear that they only wanted people to attend who did not have to travel by plane — so basically only local family and friends. I live over 1,000 miles away. Both my husband and I are fully vaccinated and would still wear a mask and practice social distancing. I see posts of the couple with friends at their house, maskless. We pose less of a risk than those who will attend who are not vaccinated. I understand it’s “their day, their way,” but what hurt me was how she addressed it. If only she would have said, “You are my only aunt and we would love for you to be there, but we just don’t feel safe having people who were on an airplane.” My relatives who do live there were mortified when they said, “We are looking forward to seeing you both when you come up for the wedding,” and I told them we were not invited. Then I got an invitation to “attend” online via video. I would not want to replace my sister and act like “mother of the bride”; I just was looking forward to being there to honor my sister. Even my brother-in-law thought my niece was wrong, and apologized. Should she have handled it differently?
A: STEVE SMITH SEE YOU CATTY RIGHT FROM START. “Why now is anybody’s guess, as she has been living with the man for over 10 years.” MEOW! HOW YOU THINK YOU HONOR DEAD SISTER BY TURN INTO WEDDING AUNTZILLA? YOU WATCH ON VIDEO, AND STEVE SMITH JOIN FOR NICE EVENING. BY NICE EVENING, MEAN RAPE FILLED. THAT ALSO GIVE WEDDING GUEST FUN BACKGROUND VIDEO, AT RECEPTION! THAT STEVE SMITH DAY, HIM WAY!
FREE CASCADIA!
…
I see. Not really anything I can add to that. Why do I always get this nights…
OK, pity party over. Time for our friend SEA SMITH to weigh in. SEA, what say you?
FIRST THING SAY, THIS NO SEA SMITH FAULT. HE NO LIKE GULF BOTHNIA – TOO COLD. BESIDES, STUPID SEXY TIMBER SHIP ASK FOR IT. NOW SEA SMITH GIVE ADVICE TO FUNNY GLIBERTARIAN LAND HOOMAN FRENS. IT BETTER THAN SILLY ENGLISH LAND HOOMAN. JUST LOOK!
Q: MY best friend and I are single and in our 50s – how do we get back into the dating game? We’ve been on our own for almost ten years and have been happy enough. She’s 52 and I’m 55. My ex-husband had been controlling during our 12-year marriage, so I’ve enjoyed the freedom of being single. My friend’s husband died of cancer in 2011, and while she still misses him, she’s happy he’s no longer in any pain. But the pandemic has made us realise that life is too short. Why shouldn’t we have another shot at finding love? The issue is we have no idea where to start. We’ve heard horror stories about online dating, and social distancing makes it hard to meet people in person.
A: SEA SMITH HAPPY HELP. HE DIRECT YOU TO HE FAVORITE WEB SITE – FINR. THERE YOU LOOK AT ALL SEXY SEA BEAST. WILL FIND SEA SMITH IS BEST…
INVITE SEA SMITH OVER FOR SHOT AT LOVE. BY SHOT AT LOVE, MEAN RAPE. YOU NOW BACK IN DATING GAME!
COME ON IN, WATER IS FINE!
And with that, I am out of here, and the comments are all yours!
ZARDOZ’s advice was definitely better. Abby only restated the obvious. Useless.
Came to the comments to say the same thing. If restating the problem is all it takes to be an advice columnist, I’m in the wrong business. In my line of work problems actually have to be solved. I think ZARDOZ needs to pay her a visit and teach her a thing or two about problem solving.
Boy Howdy We are Strange People here,
Hello Fellow Miscreants, I hope to steal Brochettas thunder, just for kicks,
or not
Meh, it was 10 after. Must be zoomietime.
Also, SEA SMITH’s meat is tasty and delicious. It is known.
?
First letter, regarding the daughter and ex-SIL/renter:
Sleep with your ex-son-in-law.
Second letter: Crash the wedding. And speak now instead of forever holding your peace.
Third letter: Try lesbianism.
I like this answer. It is in keeping with Zardoz’s first one, about the worn out Porno plot. And, it doesn’t contain any crappy music. Thanks,Ted’s.
These are literally the correct answers. Good work, Teds.
I am going to go with what TARDis said. Cleanse all of those stupid assholes.
Regarding my comments in the last article…wife is now watching John Wick. *Sigh*
Those guys really shouldn’t have killed his dog.
Almost 8pm here. I am off to bed. Goodnight all.
It doen’t get dark til after 10 up here, it seems weird to go to bed in the daylight,
Spent the early part of the evening watching Airplane! with the Bosslady. I’m belly laughing every ninety seconds, while she was… unimpressed.
I swear, women just don’t get sophisticated humor.
“sheeee-it”
“Golly!”
I’m sorry, I don’t speak jive.
“I speak Fluent Jive”
Dave Chappel in in the back corner, his first movie role.
/trivia
Are you sure you weren’t wearing sunglasses and looking at the Hare Krishnas?
What?!? Damn now I gotta watch it and scan for Chappelle.
Ladies (are there any here?) and gentlemen, I present quite possibly the greatest moments in broadcasting history.
I honestly expected the musical version of that infamous piece.
Unimpressed? To hell with that…surely you can’t be serious!
Also, Airplane is kind of like The Three Stooges, chicks just don’t dig it.
I love Airplane! I even liked Airplane II: The Sequel!
But Marx Brothers > Three Stooges.
“Will you marry me? Are you rich? Answer the second question first.”
And don’t call me Shirley, Roger,
I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.
True story: when I had my infarction last year, it was after my wife had gone to bed. I woke her up around 11:30, and our conversation went thusly:
Me: I need you to take me to the hospital.
Her: What is it!?!?
Me: It’s a big building where they take people who are having massive chest pains, but that’s not important right now.
In hindsight, I think I’m lucky to have survived.
I wish I could think on my feet like that. Well done, sir!
quick thinking!
Impressive!
Those would have been led legendary last words.
The whole “surviving” thing is good too.
?
*stands and salutes.*
*wipes tear from eye*
May you live a thousand years, sir.
Eh, I’d be happy with twenty-five more.
Unlikely to happen, though. Triple bypass at 40, heart attack at 53… making it to 80 probably isn’t in the cards.
My wife has her faults, but she loved Airplane and similar movies or humor.
Both my husband and I are fully vaccinated and would still wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Fuck.
Get vaccinated or don’t get your wish
The left’s attempt to force coronavirus vaccines on every American has been both baffling and frustrating. Now, a new announcement from the Make-A-Wish America foundation has crossed the line into downright evil.
According to its website, Make-A-Wish America exists to “create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.” (This includes children with terminal illnesses and those who grow into adulthood.) But apparently, those “life-changing wishes” are only for those who subject themselves to the organization’s preferred government regulations.
In a video posted to Twitter Thursday, Make-A-Wish America President and CEO Richard Davis explains the foundation will lift certain COVID-19 restrictions, but only for children who are vaccinated.
Do they require participants to vaccinated against other diseases? Guessing it never came up before…
Saw that. Apparently they are unaware that the prick is not approved for most children.
Oopsie! ??
From the American Cancer Society website:
“ Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML)
The overall 5-year survival rate for children with AML has also increased over time, and is now in the range of 65% to 70%. However, survival rates vary depending on the subtype of AML and other factors. For example, most studies suggest that the cure rate for acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), a subtype of AML, is now higher than 80%, but rates are lower for some other subtypes of AML.”
The survival rate of COVID-19 is @ 98.3%.
This is the one that scares me. Both the idea of a California city mandating vaccines or you’ll face losing your job and the idea that these assholes gotta make it about race.
*sigh*
I kind of respect that group. The derp is so thick it could be trolling. I know he is serious but watching the victim Olympics is entertaining.
How does that square when it still isnt approved for 12 and under. Or has it been?
Guess those critically ill kids better hope they survive ’til they’re 12.
Im off to work, kids. No nudity on the Zoom call unless someone records it for me to view later.
Arbeit macht frei !
You missed it.
By “it” I’m assuming you mean “Tonio’s sack”.
And a handsome sack it was.
There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum… it’s breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.
OMWC hardest hit.
Nice night out. Hit up Mojave Brewing Company. Nice selection of some beers and ciders. They partner with a place next door called Bourban and Biscuits and probably the best bbq outside a hole in the wall pitmaster.
Sounds good.
Polished off a steak, and relaxing on the sofa sipping Evan Williams.
*cheers*
Grilled one of the giant Prime ribeyes I got at Costco last month and now drinking rye and watching a new Rick and Morty.
Good times.
Good times.
A double shot of good times from Lou Reed.

Good times =/= light hearted
Lou Reed; good times = hepatitis and trannies
Wait, there’s a new Rick and Morty? Why was I not informed?
Wait. What? The new season hasn’t started yet.
I just watched S05E01 – it came out on the 20th, apparently.
I missed that. Youngest daughter and I are watching from the beginning. We just finished the first season. So, don’t spoil the plot.
Are Bounty and Tide pods super popular in the LQBTQXYZ community? Because I have now heard a few commercials from them celebrating pride month.
Everyone is getting in on it. If your a F500 company and you haven’t turned your logo rainbow on social media, well god help you….
Everything is celebrating Pride Month. Wal Mart is celebrating Pride Month. It’s just the style of the time.
Who doesn’t want to wear the ribbon?

Feeling mighty low, Glibbies. I’ll get over it.
Keep in mind, here at Glibertarians, there are people who like and care about you.
Just because you haven’t run into any yet doesn’t mean anything. They’re out there, I promise.
Are you kidding? I love nearly all of the Glibs and vice-versa.
Totally kidding.
Just bustin’ your balls a little.
Don’t mind me. I’m shit-faced again.
Hi, early birds. I am just settling in for a long summer’s nap.
Hope you feel better, Festus. Everybody hurts sometimes; take comfort in your friends.
I’ve been a bit bummed out over work because the culture is thoroughly saturated with bad behavior.
But today in talking to my new intern I casually mentioned “wire wrap”, an older technique of prototyping electronic circuits and proving them out before ordering printed circuit boards.
It’s kind of a lost art, but one I learned in college (land grant university; very practical) and then used to great effect over 17 years of my career.
The intern talked to other interns and even a few newbie full time EEs, so now I’m planning a “clinic” where I will teach them the not-quite-lost art of wire wrapping. I have a little discretionary lab supplies budget so I’m going to make up a few kits for them to do an example board and then keep the hand tools.
I haven’t been this enthusiastic about work in 5 years.
I wish teaching paid better.
Dang! You rock, Ms. Splosives!
Next, teach them how to use lacing cord to form their wiring into bundles or harnesses.
https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?attachments/hikerssw3-jpg.604913/
https://youtu.be/GTC_r9AIgdo
And if they’re using cable ties, use flush cutters to clip the end off not dikes. Shouldn’t be any sharp edges on the cutoff end.
Nice.
I’ve had the honor of looking inside the controls cabinet for real, deployed Mark 45 naval guns. The laced wire bundles on those were things of beauty; so many gorgeous perfectly parallel white Teflon wires running together as mighty trunks, branching off here or there, all done up in white lacing cord.
Pretty sure a feller could have safely scaled that wire bundle as a rope in a pinch.
Wires that aren’t just shoved in like a tangle of spaghetti?
I’ve never seen such a place.
The most obscenely complicated wiring job I ever saw was a satellite for the Star Wars SDI program back in 92.
The thing was twenty feet tall on end and resembled something out of a techno-horror movie with thousands of wires going into and out of the frame.
Management called. They would like you to use a different color wire.
There’s lots of wire porn out there. One of you miscreants linked to it once.
When I was temping with a cabling company back a million years ago, getting caught with dikes on you during an install would get you sent home for the day.
Those guys did some nice work. To this day, a professionally wired, un-fucked-with data rack is like a miniature Zen garden to me…
Nobody knows how to wire wrap anymore?
Jesus, I must be old.
In my informal survey of many dozens who’ve graduated since 2000, it’s not taught in college anymore.
So it’s up to us coots to pass on the tradition. I use it religiously when making a new circuit design. I’ve even got a few pieces out there in the paws of the Army Research Lab and the Navy Research Lab in one-off prototyping situations.
Nowadays people just program logic into microprocessors and get PCBs printed up without bench top prototyping. Doesn’t help with tricky analog circuit design, but that’s why even dinosaurs like me can still find employment.
How do they get thru basic electronics lab?
Does everyone have their own PCB manufacturing capacity now?
Kinda yes. Desktop 3D printers with conductive PLA, and micro CNC milling centers.
I didn’t learn wire wrapping back in the late ’90s. My pop actually taught me the basics for a high school science project, but by the time I was in college I was prototyping on perfboards like everyone else.
How do they get thru basic electronics lab?
Breadboards. I have like 5 of them sitting in my electronics toolkit from electronics lab.
This is very cool.
I’ve posted this tune before but I really dig it – https://youtu.be/NKBXMzeUnOs
Previous thread had a short discussion on movie soundtracks. Here’s a fave of mine from a flick that was filmed in your part of the world.

Matthew Modine is a fine actor.
If you haven’t yet seen it watch “Short Cuts” by Robert Altman. It’s a film about how 25 mostly reprehensible people interact through no fault of their own during the course of a day or two in L.A. It’s actually one of my top ten.
0030 and still 72F outside. It’s going to be miserable.
Almost the same here.
When the forecast actually states “humid”, I know I’m in for miserable day.
I’m walking about like Gary from “Team America”. That ain’t good.
Those strings have got to be a pain around ceiling fans.
Am I the only one who finds it rude when the hotel shoves the reciept under the door in the middle of the night?
Perhaps. That never really bothered me since it saved me time in the morning. No stop at the front desk just leave the key in the room and go on with my day.
I can’t do that, I need a definitive moment of “I am no longer checked in and will not be billed for any more stuff”.
It doesn’t feel convenient, it feels more like I’m at the whim of the hotel rather than having sufficient agency in the transaction.
Some times it also feels like they’re trying to push me out the door before I’m ready to get moving.
Well I don’t know what to tell ya. That has never happened to me. I have only ever been charged for the nights I stayed.
I’ve only once been charged for nights I didn’t stay, but that was because the place was so awful I noped right out of there and drove the rest of the way to dallas instead.
I am with you, I have also had them do it so violently that I woke up. Animals.
It took four days for the Arvada police to admit that one of their officers killed the good samaritan that took down a cop killer.
Only cops get to blindly start shooting people without assessing the situation first.
“Arvada police, in the news release containing the timeline, repeatedly referred to Hurley as a “hero,” and noted, “it is clear that the suspect bears responsibility for this tragic sequence of events.””
Huh. Weird how that works.
If I rolled up on a situation and shot the wrong guy, I doubt they would be so understanding.
If your weapon discharged, I’m sure they could find you, I mean, your weapon an excuse.
I’m sure they’d extend the same courtesy to someone else who accidentally shot a cop, thinking they were the suspect.
Not surprising but… REALLY?!? In this retarded anti-LEO culture in which we find ourselves, no thought has been given to maybe being a wee bit more circumspect about use of force?
Okay, I’m gonna do some victim blaming here.
If Hurley was actually holding the bad guy’s AR when the responding cops showed up? Then he done fucked up fatally. It’s still not a good shoot, but I’m not sure what else the cops could be expected to do.
*sigh* Come at me, line forms to the right.
Later folks, I’ve got to hit the road.
safe travels
Vaya con queso!
suh’ fam
yo whats goody ?
Breakfast. Yum. Benedict variant: garlic toast, fresh mozz, prosciutto, poached eggs, pesto.
Verbs have to wait for more coffee.
Good morning, homey! At the moment, it’s quite pleasant here at Tranquility Base, though I fear later it may be too warm to enjoy. (I have box fans at the ready, but will they be enough?)
Im giving my neighbors another hour to sleep, and then Im mowing so I can get it over with.
In a couple hours, I’m going to shop for some nommy goodies at the farmers’ market!
Mommy’s little helper?
Oh, “nommy”. Never mind.
Carb-watching is going right out the window this weekend! #NotEvenALittleGlibFit
I haven’t been around that much, but has anyone discussed this?
https://reason.com/2021/06/23/inside-the-battle-over-the-soul-of-the-libertarian-party/
Basically a portion of the LP tried to takeover the New Hampshire LP and got smacked down by everyone at the national level, leading the coup leaders to resign.
One nugget from the article: “He maintained that the Mises incursion into the LPNH had grown membership from around 60 people last year to around 150.”
That is wild.
I’ve been following it fairly closely. The Mises Caucus are fellow travelers to glibs and are bringing new life to the LP.
The old LP leadership is freaking out because their little fiefdom of do-nothings is being threatened.
Thanks for linking that. It was my first peek at TOS in a couple years. The comments were not the dumpster fire they once were. A nice morning surprise.
Our NH correspondent, DEG, has covered it pretty extensively.
CNN reports the “mystery” of what caused the Miami building collapse “deepens”.
It were gravity wot dunnit.
What did I win?
It wasn’t aliens? I hear they’re hot right now.
