ZARDOZ’S FRIDAY NIGHT ADVICE

by | Jul 9, 2021 | Advice, Cryptids | 161 comments

ZARDOZ SPEAKS TO YOU, HIS CHOSEN ONES. BETWEEN HAULING GRAIN FOR THE VORTEX AND TRYING TO CLEANSE THE FILTH OF BRUTALS WHO PLAGUE THE EARTH…ZARDOZ NEEDS A BREAK. WHAT BETTER WAY TO REST THE CIRCUITS THAN TO GIVE ADVICE BETTER THAN A BRUTAL? GO FORTH AND COMMENT!

Q: I am afraid for my daughter. She has been married less than a year to a very controlling man. He doesn’t ASK her to do anything, he DEMANDS that she do what he wants. She cannot go out to eat or to a movie or anyplace like that unless he is with her. She works a 40-hour-a-week job, and in addition she must do all the work inside the house plus mow the lawn while he plays games on his computer. Don’t you have a list of things to look for to tell someone when it is time to get out while the getting is good?

A: WHILE IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR SON IN LAW IS DOING SOME PRIME SHITLORDING, ZARDOZ DOES NOT CONDONE ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR. SURE, THE BRUTALS MUST BE KILLED, GRAIN SLAVES TAKEN AND DISSENT AMONGST THE ETERNALS MUST BE PUNISHED…BUT THERE ARE LIMITS.

OK.

ALSO OK.

PLEASE ADVISE YOUR DAUGHTER TO ARM HERSELF WITH THE GIFT OF THE GUN, AND NEXT TIME SHITLORD JR. DECIDES TO OVERLY KING-OF-THE-CASTLE IT, CLEANSE HIM. BESIDES, DID SHE NOT LEARN THAT THE PENIS IS EVIL? BETTER OFF WITHOUT HIM.

EVIL. MORE EVIL.

ZARDOZ HAS SPOKEN.

New threads always leave a dead thread in their wake.

    • Ask your doctor if BEAM is right for you

      True, true . . .

I must admit, my sampling of the public intellectuals’ latest missives re: damn near everything that’s going on in the Western world, has left me feeling kinda bereft and toying with the idea of going downstairs, dropping a single round into the chamber, and blowing my brains out.

Anything’s gotta be better than watching this world, which I spent so much of my life trying to better in myriad small ways, go down the collective shitter. Fuck.

      • Hyperion

The problem is, only idiots are breeding. It’s a predetermined outcome. And there’s now nowhere to go to escape from them. Unless someone starts a colony on Mars and bans idiots.

As far as the threading goes, I’m working on a grand unifying threading theory. But it will have to include an equation to stop the P Brooks threads destruction particle.

      • ignoreLander

The problem is, only idiots are breeding. It’s a predetermined outcome

        Ever see Idiocracy?

      • ignoreLander

Damnit! Before I get cool link bro’d, lemme try again:

        Idiocracy

      • KSuellington

You may need a media vacation if you feel that way. Sometimes I envy my wife as she generally has no idea what is going on in the world as she studiously avoids all media. She watches her historical dramas and reads fiction and avoids most of the bullshit going on. When she wants to know she asks me what’s going on. Then she goes back to her novel after a sigh.

      • Hyperion

“she generally has no idea what is going on in the world ”

I strongly suspect that describes about 80% of the population. Which is how the left has went batshit insane and are doing a Blitzkrieg over sane civilization with practically zero resistance. We’ll just all wake up one day and be told to get in the box cars and most people won’t even know what happened.

      • KSuellington

Most people just do not want to be bothered by politics. I understand this, although I have always tried to pay attention to what is going on. I think we will see a backlash to a lot of this shit, I’m not calling a libertarian moment by any means, but I think there will be some real pushback. Which is one reason why the Dems are so scared. They aren’t going to be able to cheat enough to beat what is coming. Not that the Repubs are going to be fighters for liberty, but the Trump thing has brought some changes to the party. I think we see a switching of Congress in 22 and DeSantis winning in 24.

      • Chafed

        That’s a plausible scenario.

      • EvilSheldon

This is normal and healthy behavior.

Time wasted on politics and the follies of urban academics, is time that could have been spent shooting, backpacking, cooking, flying drones, and making kinky Twitter videos.

And there will be plenty of time to snuff it once the goon squads have come for you; plus you can take a nice big honor guard to hell with you. I firmly believe that anyone I kill in justified self defense will spend the afterlife loading my magazines, mixing my drinks, and polishing my knob. Don’t pop too early!

      • KSuellington

Heheh, absolutely right. Even though I am a political junkie, I realize I have very little control of the shit that is happening outside my sphere. I can try and let people know, but there is only so much of that. There is way too much fun shit to get done before I can’t get my ass off the couch anymore. Life moves pretty quickly, you gotta make the most of the things that you can do. For me it’s raising kids right now and outdoor adventures, fishing, shooting guns and bows, skiing, hiking, and biking. Ultimately the stoics were right, let anything beyond your control go and focus on your own thing.

    • Chafed

And when an industrious commenter like you notices a new thread, there is also a forlorn Brochettaward.

      • Brochettaward

        WHO DARES TO SUMMON ME?

I am never forlorn for I am First among all Firsters.

  2. Ted S.

She cannot go out to eat or to a movie or anyplace like that unless he is with her.

Apparently they married in a place that didn’t have any lockdowns.

    • leon

“she must do all the work inside the house plus mow the lawn while he plays games on his computer”

    But where’s the problem?

  4. Ask your doctor if BEAM is right for you

    HAIL ZARDOZ!

. . . she must do all the work inside the house plus mow the lawn while he plays games on his computer . . .

    Yeah, cleanse this fucker’s ass.

    • Hyperion

The real story probably goes like this:

Honey, I want to go shopping, do you want to go?

Nah, I’m a stay here and chill with the bros.

OK, is there gas in my new $150,000 luxury SUV?

      No, I forgot.

Oh muh gawds, you’re sooo lazy!

      Have fun honey.

*wife goes out door, comes back*

I can’t find my credit card!

Which one? Here, take this one, but take care, there’s only $20,000 left on there right now!

*Calls mum on way out door, mom, he’s controlling me, I’m oppressed!*

      #DoNotBelieveAllWiminz

      • commodious spittoon

Unless he’s Josef Fritzl or Ariel Castro… your daughter’s into some kinky submissive shit, lady.

      • Gustave Lytton

Plays games on computer = WFH, 60 hours a week

“Honey, the grass is getting long. Can you mow it?”

“Not right now, I’m working. I’ll get to it later.”

“Fine, I’ll do it myself. Using the ZTR is NBD and it’s kind of fun.”

“Ok, I’ve got to get back on this call.. gotta go”

    • Lackadaisical

I concur with the others you don’t know how much other work he does.

This past week I didn’t wash a single dish or help that much getting my son ready for daycare. Much evil, bad patriarchy.

      Oh wait.

But I put in 600 sq ft of flooring.

  5. KSuellington

I am frigging stoked. Just got home after a long work week and the kids are happily playing video games after a day out at the beach, the wife is reading and I’m cracking my second Sierra Nevada. My buddy texted me two nights ago and said he wanted to do a spontaneous trip to the Rubicon Trail, so we are leaving Monday at 5am to do it. It’s one of the premier 4WD trails in the US. It’s some serious wheeling. I did it 26 year ago with the same friends, when we were 19 year olds. It’s gonna be fun. Three days out with plenty of beer in the cooler and the backroad of the Sierra Nevada to tackle.

    • Hyperion

Sounds great! Don’t forget the ZZ Top.

      • KSuellington

Thanks! Yes I will be bringing the tunes. My buddy informed me that we will be reserving all cooler space for beer and so it will be all freeze dried and dry food so we can pack enough extra gas and parts in case of a breakdown. I got enough grass and tobacco for the evening and maybe even get a few casts with the fly rod at one of the streams nearby. I love the Sierra backcountry, even the state of California hasn’t managed to ruin that yet.

      • Chafed

Wait until Newsom survives the recall.

    • EvilSheldon

      This sounds fucking awesome.

      • KSuellington

It will be, I love a last minute trip. And as much as I love my fam, it’s nice to get away for a few days from the wife and kids and drink beer, 4 wheel and bullshit with old friends. I believe you mentioned you have a Tacoma, if you are interested in reading about sweet ass 4WD trails this describes the trail and history.

        https://www.rubicontrailfoundation.org/

      • EvilSheldon

I’ve been thinking lately that I really shouldn’t be wasting an off-road Taco on commuting…

      • KSuellington

Yeah get out there on the trails if you can. I bought a 21 Tacoma last October after selling my old Willys Jeep. I haven’t even really wheeled it yet, but that is coming soon enough. It’s been up to the Sierras a couple times on trips, but I have great plans for it in the future. Just put this rack on it 6 weeks back and we hit a late May snowstorm at elevation.

He doesn’t ASK her to do anything, he DEMANDS that she do what he wants.

Otherwise they’ll never decide on a grubhub order.

    • hayeksplosives

If we learned anything over the past year+ of Covid restrictions, it’s that many people don’t particularly like freedom and would rather feel secure and have someone make decisions for them.

Maybe this chick is one of them.

Her Mom (the letter writer) doesn’t indicate that the daughter has complained about her situation, just that the Mom herself has made these observations.

      ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      • trshmnstr the terrible

First thing that came to mind is that Mom is probably the daughter’s go-to for venting marital frustrations. Daughter needs to blow off some steam, mom takes it too seriously.

Or he may be a controlling asshole, in which case she should GTFO and buy a gun when she moves into her own place.

      • Gustave Lytton

Or Mom was the controlling one in her life until Daughter found someone similar and no longer needs Mother’s guiding hand.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

        ???

      • Chafed

        “guiding”

    • creech

And why do too damn many of us don’t identify these kinds of behavior until it is too late.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

        Because sex

    • Fourscore

Well, maybe he could be just a little gay, you know, just for a while, play the movie and then go to one of those places that drives the gay devil out. Better than being unwoke and cancelled.

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

He should wipe Chavez’s splooge off of his mouth before he opens it.

I am disappointed that no one replied to the Sahara solar plan with “the western desert lives and breathes at 45 degrees”.

        I ain’t giving shit back.

      • KSuellington

Well, since in this country they stole it from other groups that they sent packing down to South America I would say let’s just let the past lay buried and concentrate on the now.

      • slumbrew

JFC, I hate that song (and, presumably, every other dirge they’ve recorded).

Currently watching the live action of Gokushofudou. The anime on Netflix is a hoot and the live action is also fun.

      • Gustave Lytton

Hmmm… didn’t realize there’s a live action version. The premise sounded interesting but not so big on anime in general.

      • Sensei

Probably a dozen J dramas on this site.

      • Gustave Lytton

        Very interesting. Bookmarked!

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

Jodorowsky’s Dune but for Tolkien? I dig.

  8. Gustave Lytton

Local small town canceled their annual 4th of July parade. Proud Boys and local private citizens hold one anyway. Sheriff’s Office has been reviewing footage to identify participants in this illegal and unpermitted activity. Burn your credibility away, assholes.

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

      That’s some petty shit.

So why did they cancel the official parade?

      • Gustave Lytton

Not entirely sure. My guess is long lead time in planning (was organized by town’s Chamber of Commerce) killed it because of uncertainty of when Gov Shitstain would relax her grip.

Googled a bit more and the city denied a permit to the organizers of this year’s parade (why is curiously not asked). Deputies were going to shut it down but hundreds showed up so they let it go ahead. And nothing else happened. No rioting. No property destruction. No violence. Huh, funny how that is when Antifa is no where around.

    • Suthenboy

“Sheriff’s Office has been reviewing footage to identify participants”

Is anyone reviewing footage to identify sheriff’s office, city council etc.?

        S01E12

        Need to dive back in

      • Chafed

Dude. Yes you do. I have been watching sporadically with daughter 2 and we just finished S01E11. We started well after you got your discs.

FWIW, you are getting close to when the series really takes off.

      • rhywun

Yeah I go in and out of phases where I feel like watching DVD’s. Been out of it for a couple months now. I think part of it is I have always liked to watch them late at night but I’m ready to pack it in by midnight lately.

      • RAHeinlein

I love B5, but under no circumstances subject yourself to the last season. Similarly, while I adoreThe Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever – never read the second trilogy;.

      • Chafed

That’s a little strong. I think I’m more forgiving because I factor in all the uncertainty of their being a fifth season.

      • Chafed

        Their = there

      • slumbrew

I don’t remember much about “Covenant” other than I ended up hating every single character.

      • slumbrew

I also remember loving the hell out of the Belgariad books as a tween – bad idea to go back and re-read them?

    • Hyperion

Yeah, I get that too. And my modem is brand fucking new. Comcast sucks donkey nuts. I hate them, literally. I found out that they’re throttling my internet. I can actually get 1.2G, but I can only get that if I buy TV and their security system, none of which I want. I ask one of their idiot techs what prevents me from getting the fastest speed if I don’t want to buy stuff I don’t use. I spent the next few minutes listening to an idiot lying as part of a script, and I said ‘no, that’s not true, stop lying to me’. It’s best to just not talk to them, because it only leads to frustration. I can’t wait to move if I go where I’m thinking about, because then I will get started with Starlink, I’m ordering my stuff on day 1.

      • rhywun

I will only make changes online. I’m never speaking to one of the cable company’s con-artists again.

      • Hyperion

You can’t make changes online here.

  12. rhywun

    This seems legit.

Five House members — including former 2020 presidential candidate Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) — decided to soak up the sun in the Middle Eastern nation of Qatar earlier this year on a trip paid for by a trade group, according to a report on Friday.

    […]

According to the outlet, the $84,621.59 bill for the jaunt was picked up by the US-Qatar Business Council, which describes itself as “dedicated exclusively to enhancing the bilateral business relationship between the US and Qatar.”

Meanwhile, I can’t buy a government apparatchik more than a BigMac without getting my ass canned for ethics violations, at least according to the trainings I have to sit through multiple times a year.

    • Hyperion

The best we can hope for is they fall afoul of the authorities in Qatar and get sentenced to 1000 lashes. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone, I mean, but I won’t shed a tear if it happens to those assholes. In fact, I’d rent it on pay-per-view.

The democrats have went way to far with their shit, they’re just asking for trouble now.

      • limey

The democrats have went way to far with their shit, they’re just asking for trouble now.

How many times has this been said?

They are immune to arrest by “have you no sense of decency?” because they absolutely don’t. They are untouchable as far as rule of law goes because there is no rule of law when the deep state goes out of its way to protect them. I don’t mean just the D’s either, because there are a number of R useful idiots this applies to.

      • Ownbestenemy

Yesh though hopefully the part gets here tomorrow afternoon. My guess is that the 160′ RS-422 cable that is carrying the ACP/ARP pulses is bad. Who knows at this point.

      • slumbrew

Does Fluke not make a tester for RS-422?

It’s been a while, but Fluke cable testers seemed like magic to me.

      • Ownbestenemy

They do but we are not the military and still use ancient test equipment. Unfortunately, we ohm’d the cable and it was good but we are getting a spurious signal that is making the system is spinning at 0.00002 seconds per minute.

It is probably the encoder but we have tossed in two others and same symptoms. We were too deep today and definitely needed a break from it.

Mark Steyn (filling in for Tucker Carlson tonight) on Deep State surveillance:

f the world’s most lavishly funded ‘intelligence community’ seems largely impotent in the face of foreign rivals, it does regard surveillance of foreigners as a useful means to backdoor your way into illegal surveillance of American citizens – up to and including the ruling party’s political opposition… We’ve seen it in recent days in the NSA’s surveillance of Tucker Carlson, which is illegal. As is the leaking of details of their surveillance, which was supposedly over Tucker’s efforts to land an interview with Vladimir Putin.

Which I’d like to see… ‘Congress shall make no law abridging freedom of the press,’ says the First Amendment. But you don’t need to make a law if you’ve got a security state with the powers the NSA has. It seems pretty obvious their plan was to selectively leak emails and telephone transcripts to suggest that Tucker was some kind of Kremlin asset. The threat to America is not primarily from foreign government agencies but from domestic agencies with unlimited budgets and unaccountable in any meaningful way to the American people and their elected representatives.

    Or in video format:

Good morning, U – and Fes, if you’re still about.

I’m not up for keeps yet. I ate rather lightly at the birthday party last evening and had only a bowl of Cheerios a while after returning home. Thus, I woke up hungry, but it’s not yet light enough to go out to Tranquility Base. I’m trying to finish a little jar of peanuts so I can return the jar to the farmers’ market vendor later this morning. After I finish the peanuts, I’ll try to sleep for just a little longer.

      Did you sleep well, U?

I got through the night fairly well. I woke up at quarter to 5 without an alarm, figured I should start my day, cooked breakfast, took my handful of morning pills (seriously, my breakfast pill set is six pills at the moment, it will go down over the next few weeks). Don’t know if I slept through the night but I don’t have memories of long periods of wakefulness where I habitually look over at the clock.

        Sounds good! What was breakfast?

      • UnCivilServant

1/2 cup elbow pasta (dry volume) with tomato sauce. All the stuff was still in the dishdrain from yesterday so I didn’t have to go hunting for it.

I’m not up for keeps yet.

That’s what I told myself about ten minutes ago as I was dragging my weary bones over to the computer.

Well, I’ve eaten the rest of the peanuts, and it’s still too dark for my taste for going out on the back porch. I think I’ll head back to the bedroom and lie back down at least until it’s lighter. I need to get out of my rocking chair before one of the cats decides it’s Lap Time.

Just squeezed in almost an hour on the recliner 🙂

        A luxury I don’t have on weekdays.

I can’t squeeze for an hour without some lanolin.

Get some sleep, good sir. I too am off to bed in a grumpy way. Cheers mate.

Someone threw you in the bushes? I hope they weren’t the prickly kind. Unpleasant!

I’m beginning to suspect there may be Journolist type thing going on with YouTube. Which may no be bad itself, but damn does it make for boring content.

“The turning point for Smithson was the number of people in her own life who died from COVID-19, including her aunt, Gloria. Smithson said she realized she “knew more people who died from COVID than people who died that received the vaccine.”

    Ummm…..
    *sigh*

And I know more people that died of UTIs than I know that died of COVID. Lock Down Urethras!

      Ridiculous lie.

Love how the sidebar is wall-to-wall vax agitprop, too.

We have 4000 people at work. Two of them died of the vid. One of my immediate coworker’s moms died of it.

I qork at the most obvous place to get it. We have international travelers running around here. We have worked this whole time, except for the first three months. By the expert’s assement, we should have the maximum casualties.

Now we’re seeing the official body counts seem to be at least 25 percent over counted. We truly live in a post truth world.

    Morning.

Simple breakfast today – left over tri-tip, cheeses, and cashews.

The cheeses were Mimolette and Beemster XO. Delish.

I have to go get a new drivers license today. ?

First thing you did in the morning was put nuts in your mouth? Gay bashing white Supremacist!

      • Sean

Cashews are seeds, not nuts. ?
