The Hat and The Hair: Episode 47

“Coats! Comey! Sessions! They are all against me!” Donald screamed in the Oval Office.

He picked up a bust of Eisenhower and threw it at one of the windows. It bounced off the tough glass and fell to the floor impotently, like a hollow metaphor.

herp

“All against me,” he yelled at the Presidential pillow humping couch. Jr. and Eric huddled together on it, clawing at each other in panic.

“Bright lights!” Jr. yelped.

“Loud noises!” Eric agreed.

Donald snatched the hair from his head and wrung it in his hands with anxiety.

“What are we going to do?” he asked his idiot sons, “I can’t trust anyone. They all turn on me in the end, they all betray me.”

“Ivanka,” Eric whispered. He had wet her bed until he was 15.

“Jared,” Jr. whispered, afraid that the fearsome bust of Dime Man would be thrown at him.

“They are already doing what they can,” Donald replied. He had twisted the hair into a rope and was slapping against his leg as he stalked back and forth.

“You two are just going to have to step up,” Donald said.

He tossed the mess of hair onto his desk and picked up his beloved MAGA hat. He crossed to the couch and jammed it down on Jr.’s head roughly.

“You are going to be Attorney General after I get rid of Jeffy,” Donald said.

“I don’t wanna, Papa,” he said miserably. He thought about getting a blowjob on a speedboat and began to cry.

durr

Donald pointed at Eric. “And you will be Director of National Intelligence,” he said. “You’re smart, right? Like, national intelligence smart at least.”

Eric nodded dumbly. He thought about calling Ivanka, but Papa got mad when he talked on his phone. He would tell her later. She would be proud of him, he thought. She might even leave Jared before Eric had to try and have him killed again.

“Where’d he go?” Donald asked Jr., pointing at a staring Eric, but Jr. only shook his head.

“I should have put you both in a sack when you were little and thrown you in the river,” Donald muttered.

“Yes, Papa,” they both said in nauseating harmony.

The hat fell off Jr.’s carefully shellacked dome of hair and landed on the couch, upside-down like a helpless turtle.

I guess i dont see why comey testifyig will destroy trump.

“I hope you will see to let this go” is not the same as shutting it down. Calling that obstruction is weak at best even if true. As mccabe has testified repeatedly it has been unimpeded.

Thos anonymous sources last week were hoping trump would call their bluff by saying comey is going to testify obstruction. They were hoping he would call executive privelege to make him look guilty..trump didnt bite and now narrative has changed

    • Vhyrus

      Literally.

      Hitler.

    • american socialist

Comey also testified on may 3 saying shutting down for political reasons hasn’t happened in his experience. Now he could weasal and say that just applied to question that mentioned doj …but that doesnt hold water as potus would be even more. Also calls into question when he decided if it was obstruction or not…and did he tell anyone. If he was just saving it for later, that makes his claim fall

      • Hyperion

If Comey says that Trump was obstructing justice and he remained silent all of this time, he would also find himself indicted. I don’t think Comey is that guy. Comey is the guy who’s looking to get out of this and loooking for his next big paycheck in the private sector. If there’s been any real obstruction of justice in the last few years, it’s overwhelmingly likely that it involved Bill Clinton and one ex AG on a plane.

They’ve already given up on that. Now the big prize is that Comey will say he never told Trump he wasn’t under investigation. Somehow, that’s impeachment stuff right there because Trump tweeted something. These people are in such deep denial of reality that I can’t even…

    • Naptown Bill

Everyone who thought that Chocolate Jesus was the best president this country has ever had thought they were going to get part two with Clinton. Instead, they got a rich old white man with a reputation for being a sexist asshole with absolutely no shame whatsoever. It’s not even like you reach for a soda expecting a Coke and it’s a Pepsi. It’s like they reached for a Coke and it was a grilled cheese sandwich. Clinton was supposed to be elected in a blowout and continue the expansion of progressive bureaucracy. Instead, and despite the predictions of almost the entire MSM, Trump wins the electoral and loses the popular, which to their minds means he stole the election. That the government they worship actually allowed this to happen by design is an added twist of horrific irony. And within days of taking office, he enacts an immigration ban (not really, but that’s what they see), appoints cabinet members who are diametrically opposed to the progressive ideals of their departments, and basically continues to put his feet all over the nice couch of government.

As far as they’re concerned, none of this makes any sense. So, if Trump can just magically become president for no reason, why can’t he magically be removed and replaced with Hillary? That makes total sense to these people. For them, this is basically one long fever dream. Sense and predictability got left behind with the election. For them, they’re now in a bizarro world where chaos in the only thing they can rely on.

They laughed because it’s a pipe dream. People can’t get along, they don’t want to get along. Most people can’t even leave each other alone, never mind “get along”. Being disagreeable toward your fellow man is a fundamental characteristic of humanity.

The trump progeny really do look like genetically-damaged trailer trash given a high-end makeover; albeit one by someone with a dated, nuveau-riche aesthetic.

e.g. the penchant for italian pinstripes and slicked-back hair. Its like they never realized that no one else in the money-business has dressed like that since the early 1990s. there have been like 4 or 5 generations of ‘wall st’-guy-fashion since then. They look far more like a parody than the real mcCoy. Like they’re going to a Wall Steet-Themed Frat Party.

      • Suthenboy

I keep having to remind myself that the mocking ‘secret nazi’ thing is something that people were and probably still are seriously asserting. It beyond parody. I cant remember which writer over at TSTSNBN said it but that was the first time I saw it. I thought they were joking. I think ENB was the one who told me you could find secret nazis by their secret nazi haircuts.

      • John Titor

Reason had that particularly smug article about how they were superior to other outlets because they hadn’t called Trump a fascist ‘yet’.

Cue every third article where writers called him an authoritarian or inferred that he has ‘authoritarian tendencies’.

      • Suthenboy

Suderman seriously claimed that Trump was going to have vigilante gangs murdering people in the streets.

      • tarran

The thing that’s funny is that Trump *is* a fascist – but one on the continuum between Berlusconi and Mussolini. And since he doesn’t really have a mass movement supporting him, his fascist impulses are checked by the system of checks – dysfunctional though they may be in this age of the unitary executive – built into the federal government.

Trump is far less dangerous than FDR and Wilson. Hell, he’s less dangerous than Teddy Roosevelt. And calm, reasoned arguments against his bad ideas would go much farther than engaging pantshitting mode with the volume dial turned to 11.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

The brown pants are in control of the media.

      • Suthenboy

He is far less dangerous than Hillary Clinton and Obama wasn’t anything to sneeze at. When I round up all of the awful things she said and look at them all together that is one scary bitch.

      • The Zenome Project

It’s not just her ideas that make Hillary dangerous; it’s that she has the entire political establishment, mainstream media, big business, and the pundit class supporting her and defending her. Trump, on the other hand, has both his good and bad policy ideas cornered and hamstring by those same sects of elites.

      • tarran

He is far less dangerous than Hillary Clinton and Obama wasn’t anything to sneeze at.

I agree 100%. Look at what Obama did. First, Obama was a fascist as well (remember that fascism really has no political theory, so much as abeing reactionary, lawless and disrespecting of any limitation on state power – it can be right wing or left wing and is often both). Worse, he set up a private political mass movement called Organizing for America, and engaged in both state and private repression of his enemies.

Fortunately, Obama was fundamentally a coward. When he faced overt opposition that required him to take a risky stand, he buckled like a belt. Otherwise, we might have seen our first American dictator since FDR.

Hillary, on the other hand, was not a coward. She was reckless, ruthless and willing to take big risks to get even small rewards. With the state security apparatus at her command, she would have been Stalin to Obama’s Lenin act.

      • The Zenome Project

I wouldn’t really call Trump a fascist: he doesn’t really have much of a mindset or strategy in regards to governance to attribute him to any particular philosophy. What he is, however, is an opportunist: he accurately pinpointed and marketed towards the anger and anti-establishment sentiment of 2016 when others didn’t, and IMO sort of winged it after he got the nomination.

      • John Titor

I think the conflation between populism and fascism is unproductive and really only serves to normalize and legitimize fascism. Fascism is a coherent ideology, and Trump fundamentally lacks that. Half of his campaign was him throwing stuff out and seeing what stuck to the wall.

      • The Zenome Project

My point, exactly. Trump is an opportunist and a populist. His campaign, from what I could tell, consisted of listening to what the crowd wanted and crafting improvised, on-the-fly sales pitches to quench their thirst.

      • The Zenome Project

True fascists, like Hitler or Mussolini, were both reactionaries, of course, but they were also painstakingly organized and had an entire bureaucracy and military to support, promote, and execute their statist philosophies and ideas.

      • tarran

God damn it! My beautifulr reply was lost when my fucking login timed out!

And now I lack the time to retype it!

        Very briefly, then!

If you look at how Mussolini and Hitler ruled in the run up to World War II, you will see that they – on most issues – switched sides and supported contradictory positions. And that’s because it was necessary to prevent a powerful opposition from forming.

True, Trump isn’t a genuine fascist; he doesn’t’ want to centralize control in the state. He is, however, a soft fascist, in that he conflates the state with society, and has a corporatist view of how the state ought to operate.

        Fucking squirrels!

      • John Titor

He is, however, a soft fascist, in that he conflates the state with society, and has a corporatist view of how the state ought to operate.

Again though, this is the overwhelming majority viewpoint on the nature of the state and economy in Western, and certainly non-Western polities (unless you read your Hegel but fuck Hegel). Is everyone a soft fascist? If yes, then isn’t it just normalizing fascism to broadly declare that? By this definition everyone on the political spectrum from Trump to the nation of Sweden is technically a fascist. Why’s it even remotely productive to point out that Trump is a ‘soft fascist’ if nearly everyone is one?

Fascism being remembered as this is a hell of a lot more productive that just broadly declaring that 80%+ of the population is really fascist.

      • The Zenome Project

I took a look at what Mussolini defined as fascism, and it doesn’t really match up very well to what Trump represents IMO. Trump has never, from my knowledge, promoted expansionism or fought against the democratic-republic system of government. The only things that I see similarities is the idea that the State is the embodiment of the nation and its people and the corporatist worldview. Other non-fascist nationalist movements have also subscribed to the latter ideas, as well.

      • wdalasio

The thing that’s funny is that Trump *is* a fascist

Perhaps. But, by what standard? I’d make the suggestion that, if you go by the “leave me alone and don’t take my stuff” standard, Trump is probably in the top 25-30% in D.C.

If that’s the case (and I’m open to being convinced it’s not), then what does that make the other 70%?

But anyway, in the Democrat’s fever dreams of this Comey guy, here’s a guy who took down the rightfully would have been President of the United States and then shortly after re-appears and takes down the sitting President of the United States. To me, that almost sounds like a one guy coup and takeover of the USA. If you really think about it, that is some fucked up shit. I can actually see why the left are so obsessed with this guy. Comey with the help of the ‘Deep State’ takes down both presidential candidates and then after the coup, Barack Obama is ushered in and made Supreme leader forever, just as it should be.

“President then returned to the topic of Mike Flynn, saying, “He is a good guy and has been through a lot.” He repeated that Flynn hadn’t done anything wrong on his calls with the Russians, but had misled the Vice President. He then said, “I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.” I replied only that “he is a good guy.” (In fact, I had a positive experience dealing with Mike Flynn when he was a colleague as Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency at the beginning of my term at FBI.) I did not say I would “let this go.”
The President returned briefly to the problem of leaks. I then got up and left out the door by the grandfather clock, making my way through the large group of people waiting there, including Mr. Priebus and the Vice President.
I immediately prepared an unclassified memo of the conversation about Flynn and discussed the matter with FBI senior leadership. I had understood the President to be requesting that we drop any investigation of Flynn in connection with false statements about his conversations with the Russian ambassador in December. I did not understand the President to be talking about the broader investigation into Russia or possible links to his campaign. I could be wrong, but I took him to be focusing on what had just happened with Flynn’s departure and the controversy around his account of his phone calls. Regardless, it was very concerning, given the FBI’s role as an independent investigative agency.”

I’ll just stick with my anarchy burger then. Hold the government, please.

      • Vhyrus

I can imagine an anarchy burger as a piece of undercooked liver with weed and lsd and two rubber sandals as buns.

      • Q Continuum

We can provide you with women; it just depends on how comfortable you are pretending to be an SJW to get some fuzz.

I have no shame for the poontang.

      You mentioned grilled cheese sandwiches?

    • Hyperion

Well, if they’re good libertarian wiminz, of course they’re making us a nice sammich right now. What, we’re supposed to pull our orphans from the mines to make sammiches? Ridiculous!

May 22, WaPo writes story alleging Intel Chiefs claimed that trump had made inappropriate demands of them =

Trump asked intelligence chiefs to push back against FBI collusion probe after Comey revealed its existence

Trump made separate appeals to the director of national intelligence, Daniel Coats, and to Adm. Michael S. Rogers, the director of the National Security Agency, urging them to publicly deny the existence of any evidence of collusion during the 2016 election.

Coats and Rogers refused to comply with the requests, which they both deemed to be inappropriate

Today, Intel Chiefs testify to congress, and WaPo reports =

, both men said they never felt pressure to do anything inappropriate, or, in Coats’ case, to intervene in an ongoing probe.

Does the new, post testimony report suggest anything was incorrect in earlier reporting?
Does earlier reporting feature any caveats or updates? LOL silly rabbit. That’s not how Journalism works.

The WP has become a complete and total rag. Bezos should be ashamed.

      • Vhyrus

Why should he? I am 100% sure this is going exactly as intended. He wanted a leftist propaganda mill and he is fucking getting his moneys worth.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

        Is it?

I haven’t seen any interviews with the man to know, but he’s never struck me as the kind of raving idiot that would prefer that.

    • american socialist

The thing is you are missing the story from last night which changed the may 22 story from pushing back on russia bs to wanting to interfere with comey

The dni spokesman also put out a statement for coats can be seen at circa.com saying he was never pressured to interfere

    • Gilmore

Link to newest story, which emphasizes that the Intel chiefs instead refused (suspiciously!) to talk about further details.

The direct contradiction of their earlier reporting is dropped in the middle of the piece , and skipped past it like it has no bearing on the larger point

    • Hyperion

So now WaPo are making up stuff about made up stuff? Ok.

  19. american socialist

Both rogers and coats statements on the record is clear cut trump didnt do what wapo said. They just wont discuss what the private convo was about

      • american socialist

They gave a statement on it being influenced. They said no.

Why would they then reveal what their private convo was?

      • Just Say'n

That’s a fair point. Allahpundit seems to think that they denied that anyone ‘pressured’ them, but refused to answer whether or not the president asked them to end the investigation. Trying to parse out the difference between the two questions.

      • Gilmore

. Allahpundit seems to think that they denied that anyone ‘pressured’ them, but refused to answer whether or not the president asked them to end the investigation.

I think the contradiction that cuts to the heart of the matter is that WaPo claimed both men felt something inappropriate had occurred.

Both men then said explicitly that nothing inappropriate had occurred.

Whether or not there were conversations about any particular issue is irrelevant if they are insisting that whatever was discussed was de-facto ‘appropriate’; in effect, the people suggesting that they’re hiding something untoward by not discussing details are ignoring their qualification of the conversations.

      • Chipwooder

Allahpundit can be an entertaining writer at times, but he’s pretty clearly been going the clickbait route with Trump for quite a while now.

      • Brett L

Because the President and his advisers need to have one on one conversations that don’t end up in the newspapers every time some aide who had to wait outside fabricates what is discussed?

      • Just Say'n

True, which means that the administration should have claimed executive privilege with regards to these conversations. It doesn’t appear that the Trump Justice Department briefed the two on what they would declare as privileged conversations

      • Suthenboy

It isnt strange. What the man said was that he would not discuss confidential conversations he had with the President and he shouldn’t. It is what i would have said.

  20. american socialist

Gilmore what i meant to say and sorry is wapo looks even worse because your first post didnt even mention their 6/6 story where they essentially changed the may 22 story

    That is now contradicted

  21. american socialist

“Trump to Comey: ‘I expect loyalty,’ according to former FBI chief’s prepared testimony In written remarks submitted to the Senate Intelligence Committee ahead of his Thursday hearing, James Comey recalled nine separate private conversations with President Trump, one of which he detailed the president asking him to drop any investigation of former national security adviser Michael Flynn. By Devlin Barrett 16 minutes ago The Fix: Comey’s prepared remarks, annotated”

Wapo lies again…see above for actual comey statement

    • american socialist

Wapo neglects to mention the 3 times not under investigation

      • Just Say'n

Dude- it’s the Washington Post. Does anyone take them seriously anymore? They’re a propaganda outlet

    • Chipwooder

You know who else expected loyalty…..
