Since the arms race to employ the most Orwellian way to vaccinate scores of the population that refuses to get it is currently underway, perhaps someone can throw out an alternative approach?
This is my review of Goose Hate Birds: the Birds that Hate Island 312 Wheat.
What is the alternative approach? Per this Professor of Public Policy at Texas A&M, a reasonable inducement might be to stop paying for their healthcare, while he intensely stares into the camera like he’s Clint Eastwood.
Not in such explicit terms of course:
Who should bear those costs? Under our system of risk-sharing, it’s all of us, whether through government programs like Medicare and Medicaid or through private insurers. When someone who refuses to get the vaccine gets seriously ill, their bills currently are paid by taxpayers or others in their insurance group.
But why should the vaccinated bear those financial costs? Insurers, led by government programs, should declare that medically-able, eligible people who choose not to be vaccinated are responsible for the full financial cost of COVID-related hospitalizations, effective in six weeks.
While it is true that pooling risk is essentially how the insurance industry is able to pay claims. It is also true the federal government is the single largest payer of health care expenditures in the US. The fun infographic here shows the amount of change from out of pocket in 1960 to nearly half covered by Medicare/Medicaid if anyone is interested in being nauseated. This total expenditure is estimated to cost a little over $11,500 per person, assuming CMS knows how to add, and yes it is probably only going to go up in the future.
Its also very much evident with 5 of the top 10 health insurance companies in the US specializing in delivery of government sponsored health care (#5-10) we are indeed paying for everyone’s stupidity.
At the risk of boomers shouting “I paid into that!” while throwing wilted lettuce and rotten tomatoes—I have to admit he’s right.
He just doesn’t go far enough. Why should we have to pay for everyone’s poor health choices? I have a relatively clean diet, I don’t smoke a pack a day, I exercise regularly. Although I drive 5-10 over the speed limit and I enjoy the *ahem* occasional drink. Why is it my responsibility for somebody morbidly obese, smokes like a Mad Scientist, or polishes his rocks by trying to outrun the cops on a Hayabusa?
This would eliminate some of the moral hazard that contributes to claims from frivolous patients driven by hypochondria. Not to mention the price floor that is the Medicare Fee Schedule that at a minimum disincentivizes lowering provider costs. It might even eliminate the mission creep these insurance companies have gotten into like paying for groceries and even offering delivery.
In fact why even have these public and private collectivist schemes at all? Why pool everyone’s resources together only to be used almost exclusively on the weakest, fattest, members of society? They should pay for the consequences of their poor choices. If we eliminate Medicare and allow the market to adjust towards incentivizing fee for service care, perhaps all the finger wagging asshats stop?
No, sadly the finger wagging will continue. What’s really funny is how a professor of public policy didn’t notice if his proposal goes through it leads to nothing but discrimination lawsuits.
Hate Bird Island is a manmade island formed in the middle of the Chicago River. It was said that at one point it was an actual island that served as a waypoint for Hate Birds to flock on their way south towards my neck of the woods for the winter. Screw those hate birds. We get enough wintering Canadians, they don’t need to bring their goddamn birds along with them. The beer is a neutral filtered German style wheat that is best described as “non-threatening”. Not quite what I remembered last time I had it, but its not bad with minimal banana. Goose Hate Birds: the Birds that Hate Island 312 Wheat: 2.5/5
I don’t like wheat beer
Me neither,
honestly I don’t see the point of posts that do not cater to my preferences
It keeps the comment sections from getting too long.
Hence the need for strict enforcement of only on-topic comments.
I like them in a big stein when I’m sitting outside on a hot day.
I love wheat beer so your vote is canceled.
Cancel culture chalks up another victim.
Kick back drink wheat beer and watch Columbo like a bad ass.
Today’s project is to assemble the DVD’s into the proper cases that just arrived. Maybe I’ll get around to watching one of them.
Sounds like your life is as exciting as mine.
Just the way I like it.
OFFS I just opened the 2nd case (“Seasons 5 – 7 and 24 TV movies”) and a half-dozen disks came flying out.
These things better all fucking play.
we eliminate Medicare and allow the market to adjust towards incentivizing fee for service care
YES
Prior to Obamacare, you could get an individual plan that met just your needs. Your deductible, your customized coverage. Obama set fire to that ship and sailed it out to sea.
Yep growing up my mom told they just carried what was basically life or limb coverage cause that was what they could afford. *looks at family, huh we are all healthy and alive*
My parents only really budgeted for painkillers. Beyond that, some self surgery and hope for the best had better work.
ThAT wASn’T REaL inSUraNcE!!!!!!
I could also get an HMO for my family through an employer for about $100 / month.
Every totalitarian fuckwit in the country is pushing his/her way in front of a camera to talk about new ways on coerce people into taking a EUA drug.
I am so tired of this.
They all see an opening.
It’s got nothing to do with anybody getting sick or dying. Biden promised 70% vaxxed, and he aims to get it. His poll numbers a sagging and he needs a win. That’s why that Garland douchebag drafted an opinion authorizing the government to force it on people. Not because anyone’s getting sick or dying at any real rate. At some point, after much tyranny, they plan to proclaim a high number of vaxxed people, at which time they will dial back the numbers of “cases,” Biden will be proclaimed our saviour and we’ll all forget about how he’s fucked up everything he touches. They will have proven that enough tyranny, with them in charge of course, and they can fix anything!
At the risk of stating the obvious, stuff like this is not at all about convincing people to get vaxxed. It’s just shoring up the base by drumming up hatred of the unvaxxed, who – as per the recent propaganda – are all deplorable science-hating Trumptards.
Just can’t do the beer anymore. Too many carbs. I got on a scale this week for the first time in three years. 195lbs. Yikes! I need to lose 25 lbs.
Smirnoff and Perrier with a splash of lemon or lime juice. Cheers!
Yeah, beer absolutely balloons me up, too.
But never gives me headaches. I may have to just switch to THC.
I was talking with my wife about THC yesterday. I like getting high cause it’s all weird. But I just get too paranoid now. That’s no fun. And smoking is a non-starter. Edibles are meh.
Resigned to vodka and bourbon for life. Until the government takes that away, too.
Not even Stalin took away vodka.
Beer gives me worse headaches than anything other than rum or tequila.
Red wine for me, although certain beers that I absolutely lovelovelove also give me “consequences” (I’m lookin’ at you, Grimbergen my dearest…).
I use Bubbly flavored water with my vodka.
Nope. Can’t do a low calorie cocktail post.
/wanders off
I saw an end cap filled with Jameson and Topo Chico this morning, is this a cocktail?
No, but Ranch Water has become the new trendy drink to become popular.
Hey, that sounds pretty good. Kind of a gin-and-tonic with tequila instead.
Which has a name already… it’s a tequila and tonic. This adds the lime juice to amp up the acidity.
As I stated early in my cocktail series, any clear liquor (vodka, rum, gin, tequila) can be swapped out with any other in almost any drink with minimal consequences.
Yes, it’s a McPedro.
LOL
I call that a Frugal White Claw.
But why should the vaccinated bear those financial costs? Insurers, led by government programs, should declare that medically-able, eligible people who choose not to be vaccinated are responsible for the full financial cost of COVID-related hospitalizations, effective in six weeks.
Now do fat people.
…and smokers…people who drive too fast…people who engage in any risky behavior.
They actually did make this same argument when they were trying to ban cigs and when they went to war against McDonald’s. This goes to show how dumb many of these highly credentialed people are – that they can’t see where this argument leads.
No one wants to ban smoking, they just want to ban it in public buildings!
They still have some smoking bars in Philly. Since they just reimposed mask mandates and you can’t smoke with a mask on, maybe I’ll take up smoking
I was under the impression that the vacced should wear masks and risk ‘breakthrough’ infections. In other words the vaccines done work yet there is so much pressure to get the vaccine….it’s almost as if there is some kind of hidden agenda. I know a rat when I smell one.
Thanks for the review, MS!
If we eliminate Medicare and allow the market to adjust towards incentivizing fee for service care, perhaps all the finger wagging asshats stop?
Medicare is going to implode regardless. The costs of diabetes alone will crater it.
After that, do old people.
Oh, they’ve already been doing old people for the last eighteen months . . .
Do old people, with no context… well, ok then!
Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr was a Renaissance man and a gift to the world. How far the apple fell from that tree. Jr would have made the country a better place by singing from a rope in a tree.
They should pay for the consequences of their poor choices.
Now you’re just making shit up.
Why should we have to pay for everyone’s poor health choices?
Now do that with gay buttsex and watch the reeing.
I love wheat beers. I do not love, or even like, 312. They call it an “Urban Wheat” whatever the hell that is. I’d say it’s definitely an American Wheat, not German.
Welcome back Mike!?
Thanks! Good to “see” you again!
It’s very much an American Wheat, of which my personal favorite is Bell’s Oberon.
Any explanation as to why kids are getting put into the PICUs this go around? They were asymptomatic on the first wave. Something is not right, and I can’t get straight answers from TMITE.
RSV has been brought up repeatedly on here as one explanation for any spike. It’s not that uncommon this time of the year. Low and behold my local news was actually running a story on it the other day, though they were claiming it was the RSV and covid which done done it.
All we know for sure is, they are lying.
⬆ This.
Man, ya’ll are acting like mentioning the far edge of the window will shock people into understanding that there’s no limiting factor here. They are actually working their way up to doing exactly this. They seek control of everything. Showing how this leads there is actually encouraging to them.
I’m not logged into the forum on my phone but for the glibs meet-up in fred we will probably be outside for space.

It was that way all across the continent. The Injuns here burned off huge swaths of forest to keep the buffalo coming.
Yep. Look at turn of the century and late 1800s pictures. Far far fewer trees in what are now urban areas. Some due to land clearing as part of settling but not entirely by any stretch. Fires burned out lots of vegetation and there was next to no irrigation during dry spells prior to settlement.
And ornamental vegetation beyond maybe a bush or two was strictly the province of the wealthy.
Photographs of the Bow Valley (west of Calgary towards Banff) from the end of the nineteenth century show a huge variety of tree species, both deciduous and coniferous; that all changed when active fire management (read: suppression) started in earnest after WWII.
Contemporary photos show a typical climax forest of almost nothing but conifers, juuuuuust waiting to explode into massive walls o’ flame.
The website is Oregon Live, not Oregon Sentient, think about it,
That’s a legacy of Advance Newhouse’s web naming legacy to try and group their papers under a single identity.
controlled burningControlled burns are used in Texas to help minimize range fires. A cowboy (a real one, with a horse and everything) who worked with Pater Dean said “Its a controlled burn until someone strikes a match.”
I watched one that actually went pretty well. Ideal conditions – little wind, etc. They started fires around each side of the filed, which was probably 160 acres. When the fires met in the middle of the field, holy crap did things change. Allofasudden, there was a short-lived fire devil – like a dust devil, only made of fire. Really hard to tell scale, but I would guess it was at least 100 feet high.
I’m guessing they lit the leeward side first, allowing the fire to back into the wind, then lit the two sides, and finally lit the windward side so the head fire would burn into the previously burned area, thus drastically reducing the chance of escape. The fire devil is also a result of all that heat heading up creating a large updraft that sucks all the firebrands high up so they burn out before landing on adjacent land. Again, drastically reducing chance of escape.
There are numerous techniques to ignition on a prescribed burn. I agree controlled is a poor word. Of course, the government screwed all that up too. It’s really a topic for an article.
Same with pushing climate change is causing fires in general. A year ago in the same paper

I never knew constant pain was so tiring,
I understand why people use opiods,
I do not take opioids,
It takes me four hours just to get it together and walk more than 20 feet,
And it’s getting worse,
I need Cat food,
And beer,
Fatigue is a big problem when it comes to pain. I wrote the book on that.
By all means, stay away from opioids. They quickly become a bigger problem than the one you are trying to fix.
I have about 15 anti inflammo’s left until late Sept. so I take them rarely,
I wear my exoskeleton Lumbar support, and grind it out. I’ll be functional from now til sunset or so, then straight back into hell, after dinner of course.
No problem here. Opioids make me nauseous.
Opioids are very useful in specific cases of severe, acute pain where short-term relief is needed. Not usually a good choice for long term pain management due to the risk of addiction, as others have pointed out. Hope you get this fixed soon.
Sorry Yusef. I hope you get whatever is wrong fixed.
I have constant pain, but nowhere near the level you probably do. It’s mind altering itself. I used to take opioids for occasional relief, but I’m a tee-totaler. I hate being overly intoxicated. I drink sparingly also. I hope you find a way to fix the cause. They have improved the methods quite a bit recently. Hopefully, they have something to help you.
Thanks to Tom Woods’s’ses’ Thursday episode with Mark Sisson I am revisiting the Paleo route to life. I do not know if it will be any more successful than my last go at it some 7 or 8 years ago but I have a different motivation now. I take two meds for HBP (I have stopped all pain meds and deal with my pain through stretching and exercise) and I am now on a mission to take no meds. After the past 18 months and seeing a fake cure pushed for a sickness that the vast majority of the population would not die from that was most likely designed by government funded scientists, I am done taking anymore pharmaceuticals. Fuck. Them. It is going to take some lifestyle changes and quitting as well as cutting back a few things. My burning hatred for them is very strong and I am finding it a strong motivator.
(consider this my Glib fit contribution since I have to work tomorrow)
Good luck.

Thanks for the link. Bookmarked. I have jerked chicken and a pork loin marinating and am about to whoop up a Paleo peach cobbler.
Oooh… The store had family packs of breasts on sale, so I just boiled half a dozen of them in some spicy broth, then threw a few pounds of baby taters in the chickeny water while the breasts sat. I was gonna shred them and make salad or tacos but I can’t stop just pulling chunks off, plunging them into various sauces/dressings and stuffing them (with wee potatos dipped in Kerry Gold butter) into my pie-hole.
I just listened to that, too. Sisson (and Taubes) got me on the right track back in 2012 or so. One thing I like about Sisson is that he isn’t so goddamn dogmatic. Find what works for you and strive to follow the 80/20 rule.
Good luck!
That’s what I loved about him when I found him about the same time. No pushy sales pitches trying to get you to buy something. He has supplements and of course the books, etc. But he just spouts facts and let’s people make up their own mind.
I had never heard of this Mark Sisson, but I just spent some time looking through his website and watching a couple of his videos…. I like this dude! He seems to get it:
What is your health philosophy?
In a nutshell:
…Time for fun—don’t take anything too seriously
Ethical behavior—because what goes around comes around
Taking responsibility for yourself and your life—openness to new things and ideas…
Why should I listen to you?
You shouldn’t. I’m partly kidding, of course, but I do believe in critically assessing everything we come across, particularly if it has an impact on our health—including anything I say.
The guy made a new fan today….
“He just doesn’t go far enough. ”
We should also ban the obese from restaurants and fast food. Weigh in required at the door. We should also monitor their grocery purchases.
Oh, and no job since they drag down employer funded health insurance.
They’ll be healthy in no time!
Does my thin body offset my Smoking? I don’t eat a third of what the Obese do.
*shrug*
I’m a big idea guy. I leave the details to someone else.
Over 350 lbs? Eat for free.
They’re in Las Vegas now. I ate there once. It was good.

No.
Fuck off.
…in a rare moment of honesty.
Does ABM also recognize that all people who give birth and lactate LITERALLY ARE female? Because they are.
I’m far far from the first to say it, but I want to get this off my chest. When all this dumb-ass “social science” idiocy started, I retreated more and more and took refuge in my mathematics-based profession. After all, there was one thing they could never touch, and that was hard science and hard math. And now I’m seeing the folly of having faith in anything relating to mankind, since actual math, and healthcare, and science, is being co-opted by the touchy-feelies.
It truly is a deflating feeling to ponder.
Enjoy your demoralization.
It’s a “thank you sir may I have another” thing by now. If I had the means and the language skills and I knew where to go, I’d have fled the USA by now. But my limited intelligence tells me nowhere else on the whole planet is any better.
That’s where the “power” comes in – the power to literally compel you to utter falsehoods.
Orwell had a thing or two to say about this.
Chestmilk, yuck

Mine must be defective.
I don’t know what the hell this is about, but it’s another domino falling in all this madness.
Pretty sure that’s old.

312 is garbage. I am also looking at you, Oberon.
American wheats are an abomination. Use a damn hefe yeast, you fucking morons.
It is possible I have an irrational bias when it comes to wheat beers.
But if I could cast a DnD style genocide spell on a particular beer style, it would be American Wheat.
^ this guy gets it
I got to judge the fruit beer category at a comp once. 75% were gawd awful raspberry wheats.
That sounds like a nightmare.
I made a really nice raspberry wheat. Except it was actually a raspberry lambic.
Lambic and Berliner Weisse are the only wheat beers I will drink. 😉
Oberon is good.
Shut your whore mouth!
No.
/goes and pops a Tropical Oberon
I think her death scene in Wuthering Heights is ridiculous.
Death scene in Game of Thrones .
Disregard that last comment. Was going for a great joke about Oberyn Martell’s death scene and flubbed the punchline royally, and on the record, for all to see.
I of course was referring to Merle Oberon.
Use a damn hefe yeast, you fucking morons.
Then it tastes like fucking bananas!
And/or cloves. Don’t forget the cloves!

LOL the Biden administration will get right on that. ?
They can start right after they get done ignoring the Supreme Court (who have been completely silent, are they actually doing anything about it?).
I thought the president’s word was law. The president approves the policy, who cares what some pissant judge thinks? This ruling will be reversed on appeal anyway, why not save a few bucks by letting the executive do as he pleases?

Avatar checks out for that story.
So we shouldn’t pay for peoples bad decisions (not that not taking the vaccine is necessarily a bad decision)? Ok I am game, and even disregarding the ineffective vaccine, when is the government going to take responsibility for giving not just shitty, but out right wrong health advice my entire life? Fuck them. They wonder why some people don’t trust them. The CDC is the government arm of big pharma with advice to make you sick (see the food pyramid), for example high cholesterol, and then have big pharma gives you the “cure” which makes you less healthy with deadly side effects. They are fucking evil.
LOL @ the hate birds.
I just poured one of these into my freshly delivered Glibs glass. I feel so classy drinking beer from a glass. (sniffs armpit) The beer is ok.
Very classy ?
The unvaccinated are already paying for their bad decisions – no workee, no travel, no concert, no eat at fancy restaurant. Need to turn up the pain level, I suppose.
Yes, They probably feed on the blood of vaccinated infants. I know for sure that some of the movers and shakers in the financial world are unvaxxed. Pulling the strings which keep the good vaccinated citizens poor and dependent. The unvaxxed are like vermin. They should be readily identifiable and kept from engaging in modern society. That will be a start. We’ll have to come up with a solution later to finally end this once and for all.
“They probably feed on the blood of vaccinated infants.”
Expected that in the morning (((links))).
You know I reek of class.
Well, I’ll go along with half of that.
You know I reek of

?To both of you!
Sure. So I shouldn’t have to pay taxes to support legions of urban twats who keep downloading rugrats they can’t support? Is that how that works?
Yes, and I shouldn’t have to pay school taxes since I have no kids.
Nobody should have to pay school taxes. Government at any level has no fucking business being involved in education. Privatize all of it.
shoulda bought in the unorganized borough where’s there is no property tax and unless you’e in a city there’s no sales tax, either.
The property taxes here at least aren’t terrible, no sales tax here, and as we’re both getting older we didn’t want to wander too far afield. When I was a younger guy I could have lived out farther; nowadays we want to be nearer to medical help if we need it.
Palmer and Wasilla have sales tax, however. Anchorage doesn’t but has much higher property taxes. Some assembly member makes a stink now and then about introducing sales tax to lessen the burden of property taxes and to make money off the tourists (aside from bed tax), but lmao if you think the total tax burden would end up being lower for most people.
Yes, tax burden is a ratchet, not a wheel – it only ever goes one direction.
FWIW, I think the borough is trying to and might have voted to institute an area-wide sales tax for transportation. Of course, it’s for bike paths and shit like that nobody uses 9 months of the year. Oh, but they claim it will sunset after hitting the target fund amount. Less clear, of course, is how they plan to pay for maintenance.
Here is a good and easy to follow primer about local gov’t in Alaska:
http://www.akml.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Legislative-PRIMER-WEB.pdf
I pay out my ass in property taxes, for children I don’t have, for them to be indoctrinated into ideas I don’t agree with, with my money going to pay people I abhor, a portion of which enriches unions I don’t think should exist, who in turn use it to bribe politicians I wouldn’t piss on if they were burning in flames.
Yeah, Privatize all of it indeed.
Yes. Exactly!
I used to drink a lot of Goose Island 20+ years ago because Trader Joe’s had mixed 12-packs for like $7. But then they stopped carrying those, and after that I only ever saw their fancy expensive corked 750ml special releases, which I never bothered with. And then they got bought by AB, so whatever.
Finally, hipster juice! … wait, that’s not hipster juice…
Mornin, wokesters.
So, the Raiders are playing the Sea Chickens, I think at 3PM in the one true time zone. Or 6PM in the totally fake time zone.
I’m sure Kansas City fans are excited about that, since their team and Kermie totally suck sea biscuits!
KK and Tulip, please go give this video a look, if you have not already seen it. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert visited Bangor, North Wales, in 1859. Here is the roast beef she was served. Also, enjoy the solid slate billiard table, and solid slate bedframe.
If that meat wasn’t cooked enough, it might have made Prince Albert have to stay in the can.
Interestingly, the castle at which they stayed was owned by some exceedingly wealthy slate magnates. This family was fond of modern technological inventions, and had one of the earliest indoor flush-toilets in the world.
I remember the Winchester Mystery house had some large amount of staff but only one shower. It was built for Ms. Winchester and therefore only usable by someone 4’6″ It was pretty close to chest high.
I loved that place the one time I went. A++, recommended. Not as spooky as shown on In Search Of (not spooky at all, really). Sarah also had elegant taste.
Very shitlord, don’t give a fuck. The best house firearms blood money and zero building codes could build. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Thanks, will watch.
Ministry of Truth efforts to whip the boobousie into a panicstricken frenzy continue unabated
As the coronavirus surges again in the United States, scientists have found another disaster is playing a key role in the number of people who contract severe Covid-19 cases and how many die: wildfires.
A new study published in the journal Science Advances found that increases in fine particulate matter from wildfire smoke in 2020 led to a surge in Covid-19 cases and deaths in California, Oregon and Washington.
Sneakiest most lethalest little bug you ever seen.

All they need now is some mirrors.
Sentient snifflecooties hitch a ride on ash particulates deep into your unsuspecting lungs, set up shop, and KILL YOU.
Report from the first grocery store (semi rural Ian): Most people are wearing masks again. They won’t wear masks unless the state forces them. But when it does, they go along with it. I did see more resistance than last time. Several completely unmasked and two with the mask pulled down. None of the employees said a word about wearing one, just usual pleasantries.
Grocery store here was more unmasked than masked patrons.
The state liquor store still has masks recommended signage, but only 1 employee seen wearing one and five with none. ?
My experience with retail has been, any shop or restaurant I go into, the entire staff is masked, and 0 to maybe 1% of the patrons are masked.
Holy cow! No one said anything shopping at Trader Joe’s. That place was Covidian central for chain stores a short while ago. The only sign was letter size in about 14pt font about state’s requirement. Posted to the side window, not on the sliding door when you walk in. No one else unmasked.
Walked by Bed Bath and Beyond. Zero signs on the door or in the walkway.
Ours went along with PA state guidance and stopped everything the end of May.
2nd grocery story had big signs up but none of the workers said a thing until the cashier handed me my receipt. “Just so you know for next time, there’s a mask mandate now”. “Ok”. Fuck stick put the milk cartons at the bottom of the grocery bag sideways so everything on top will cause them to leak. And then they had their special needs employee walking around with his mask half off.
Discount sporting goods store: girl at entrance counter (in non compliant face shield only) asks if I need a mask. “No, thank you”. “have a good day”. This despite multiple signs as you walk in.
Skipped the neighborhood farmers store. They had big signs at the rollup doors and they’re the sort of place Gov Shitstain’s goons would make an example out of.
Still optional here in NYC, but I doubt for much longer.
The drive to coerce people into getting vaccinated is taking us into some really dangerous territory.
https://www.warhistoryonline.com/world-war-ii/action-t4-nazi-euthanasia-programme.html
The “anti-vaxxers” or “right-wing Trumpistas” or “science deniers” increasingly get relegated to second-class citizen status and defined as dangerous and burdensome to the good people. Finally they are “life unworthy of life”. What I find so fascinating is how frequently families *asked* for their children and relatives to be murdered in support of the cause.
The “elites/cathedral/establishment”, whatever you want to call them, are basically Nazis.
Yes.
I gotta tell ya, all this talk about using kids to shoe up their insane policies, demonizing unvaccinated people, and stories like this are making me madder than I ever thought possible. It almost scares me, having this much anger.
Before the Simpsons turned into a rancid steaming puddle of vomit, it was a pretty funny show. And one of their best gags was the seasons-long running gag that had Helen Lovejoy showing up out of the blue to screech “OHHHHH WON’T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN” about the most mild, mundane things.
Yet another way they predicted the future…..
On another note:
Egg salad is an abomination. A bowl of egg salad and a steaming bowl of shit are equally as appetizing. People who like egg salad are mentally defective.
You know it, I know it; it’s time to admit the truth.
Never cared for it. I’ll take vinegar-based cole slaw any day of the week.
I always knew you were a sane and reasonable man.
I’m printing this out and use it for future job applications.
Hell yeah! Cole slaw should be vinegary and peppery, not sweet.
What’s your thoughts on coleslaw with some chopped dill pickle included? I prefer that over some of the excessively creamy mixes that are popular around here in bland food land.
I like my egg salad served atop a nice vinegary based coleslaw.
… with a beer. Later to be followed by a car ride with some friends and the window controls locked out?
I knew there was a reason I liked you. I mean in addition to ass Wednesday.
Egg salad is an abomination.
I pity you.
Fact check: True.
And then you posted this drivel. This along with your elephantiasis obsession makes me think you have some sort of brain rot.
^this guy gets it
Shredded cabbage with mayo belongs on your plate, not mine
What is it with Glibs and their food preferences? So much wrongness.
‘S OK, you can have mine.
Almost as bad as their taste in music….sheeesh.
Conversely: may I have your cilantro?
The difference being that cilantro hate is objective.
If not for restaurants* I doubt I’d have realized I like it or a lot of things; dunno about you lot.
* potlucks / dinner parties / other people’s cooking generally
right-o. On the other hand, shredded cabbage with some sliced onions, garlic, jalapenos, and shredded carrots brined in apple cider vinegar and pickling spices for 12-24 hours can hang out on my plate. Fresh cilantro added at the end optional for you genetic defectives. Touch of honey in the brine optional.
“Shredded cabbage”
Is fermented and now has brine or it’s just cabbage.
Wrong. And the best egg salad is made with pickled eggs.
Egg salad is just deviled eggs for messy people. And it’s freaking delicious. Going to have to raise my middle finger to you on this one….
What? Next week Q tells us he was never into titties.
Mystery Men disagrees.
Egg salad is devilled eggs that can be spread on pretzels and pumpernickel toast.
It’s faboo.
OT, but a decent overview on The Kabul Times website that isn’t eye-glazingly long: Afghanistan: From Peace to Endless War
I feel terrible for the everyday people caught in the middle of this; but this has absolutely nothing to do with the West. There are some cultures that are hellbent on living in the 12th century and it’s not the developed world’s job to convince them otherwise.

People are fed up.
Don’t put your kids in govt indoctrination camps.
This is another reason I’m pulling kids out of school. I am as conflict averse as anyone, but I’m reaching the end of my rope and I don’t want to be in a situation where I confront some bureaucrat and end up losing my shit.
Any government employee (military, State Dept, Agricultural attache, whatever) who claims to be surprised by the breakneck speed of the Afghan collapse should be taken out and shot.
And those who are surprised by the speed at which the US has fallen?
“How did you go bankrupt?”
“Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly.”
Saigon II: Historical Boogaloo
I’d really like to see some of the. .ppts showing the capability assessments of the Afghan army. Were any of the people presenting/viewing them actually dumb enough to believe their own BS?
No. They were busy taking the latest cultural sensitivity training,
I found this chart to be interesting.

I guess the CIA is good at something besides suiciding people.
Wait: is this an option with nannies?

I need to reconsider q-ette’s childcare situation.
I’ve had this a few times. It’s okay. I’m not hugely into wheat beers but I have no strong opinions. I also like geese.
I just got back from the grocery store, the pharmacy and the hardware store. I saw one person wearing a mask.
Evidently wife is on the outs with her mom because she didn’t let her mom put a mask on our 4 year old.
I dunno what has changed, but things have shifted in a rather orwellian direction over the last 2 weeks.
Orwell, Rand….etc. did not imagine the things they wrote about. They experienced them. A large percentage of the population are unthinking herd animals. They are especially moronic when they get scared.
“A large percentage of the population are unthinking herd animals.”
AKA Millennials.
From my viewpoint, also Boomers.
In fact, here the Boomers have been either the most strident or the most relaxed (but way more of the former).
Boomers here are definitely the most don’t give a fuck. Millennials wear masks outdoors and there’s nevet been a mandate for that. When I see a 19 year old running with a mask I really want to barf.
Teens rebel here but otherwise almost everyone under 40 is compliant. And everyone over 65 or so but I feel for them because TMITE has scared them out of their wits.
I don’t think I’ve run into any boomers who are stridently against this shit. They’re all vaccinated and most still wear masks where told to. The folks my age tend to be rather polarized. Most are branch covidians, but the ones who aren’t are prepping to lose jobs, transform lifestyles, and weather whatever else comes up.
Things haven’t changed much around here actually.
I’d replace “moronic” with “evil”, but I agree with the point.
People acting stupidly doesn’t destroy a society. People acting evil does. Something happens to useful idiots when they’re made to be afraid. They don’t just gravitate towards the most emotionally satisfying (and usually most stupid) solution. They drop all pretense of propriety and boundaries and evangelize their idiocy as gospel truth.
It isn’t enough for dear old MIL to isolate herself and mask up and vaccinate (although she, like most of the unthinking masses, seems to believe that the restrictions are meant for others more than for herself), she has to make wifey feel like a bad mom and a stupid person for not towing the lion. She has to be “really concerned” for our well being. Every trick in the emotional manipulation cupboard is fair game to get the heretics to see the light.
This is something more than stupid. It’s orchestrated zealotry of the midwits.
Sorry to hear that, sir. What’s your 4 y.o.’s opinion?
She identifies as an ice princess, so the (CCP) cold doesn’t bother her anyway.
In seriousness, we have taken a laissez faire approach to masking with her. When masks were more ubiquitous, she could wear hers if she asked, but we didn’t push it and we let her take it off whenever requested. Now, it’s not even a conversation. She hasn’t worn a mask in months and we’re at the point where we’re not gonna put a mask on her except for rare and specific situations where the compromise is necessary.

The carrots and lies are running out and reality is setting in.
That leaves the stick…which no one saw coming. No one at all.
I was out in a rural part of the state that’s still in the road system last weekend at a small bar/restaurant and the locals were openly mocking a trio of tourists who had their mask on while waiting for their food. Even the old lady bartender muttered under her breath.
Supermarket this week and less masks seen. Trending the right way.
It’s trending the opposite way here.
Like I’ve been saying all year I’m expecting Australian-style lockdowns by the end of summer.
I was in the liquor store here yesterday and no one was wearing t mask. But you have to consider, this here is Little Israel.
I thought your governor said y’all gotta wear the mask?
He did. An ‘order’ no less. I was in the grocery store the day the ‘order’ took effect. I walked in without a mask. The manager said ‘mmmmmph mumph’.
I said “Take that thing off of your face so I can understand you. Oh, are we still playing that game?”
She took her mask off and said yes.
Me – “I have half of a mind to drive down to Baton Rouge and toss that son of a bitch in the river.”
Her – “Can I ride with you?”
That sums up the attitude here nicely.
The city reinstated the mask mandate here as well. (((they))) don’t seem to care and they’ll sell you beer on Sunday, so I have much respect for them.
Beer on Sunday? Blasphemy!
Yeah, but they won’t sell you beer on Saturday.
Yes, but I can walk across the street and get it.
I’d pay good money to go on a road trip with Suthen. Particularly if it ended with a politician in the drink.
I would be fun to be the videographer for that, I’d bet.
People are starting to mask up again here. Management at work was looking the other way and not hassling anyone, but then an unclean employee in my area died. Now it’s back to square one.
Went to Kroger last weekend, mask usage is back up to about a third. Repeated announcements about the unclean and employees must wear masks.
I noted more face diapering on my way back when I cut my trip short than on the way out.
Tomorrow my forced isolation ends. Monday I’ll go back out into the world. I will see what the face diaper situation in southern NH is then.
As I mentioned some weeks ago, I experienced catastrophic pool lounge failure with my two season old float. I scored a new pool float today @ 50% off on close out. It is 94 went to the moon degrees atm and it is time to try the new “strawberry lounger” out and get a good dose of Vit D to fend off the plague.
Such a long series of detailed and complicated euphemisms can only lead me to believe that you put a pineapple out on your front stoop.
Or on his pizza.
I have no idea what that means but am now wondering if I need to build a “front stoop” on the shop and buy a pineapple.

It was uhhhh ninety something? here but we just had an ice-cold downpour that cooled things down nicely. It caused a bit of worry as the downpour was mixed with hail. I can still hear thunder but it seems to be gone now. No tornado, at least not here.

94? It’s only 91 here.
88 here, 57% humidity. Not bad, considering that it was 81 sometime around midnight last night.
82 deg and 51%…we’ve kinda dried out.

I just received shipment. Tall cans! Round up the Yufus and come on over!
It’s bedtime. Some of us work all night.
I miss Rufus.
I was up between 3-5am. Went back to sleep, a moron idiot woke me up at 7:45am. Went back to sleep until 12pm. Drank!
Aw, me too. I hope notre Muppet is OK.
I have arrived! 20 holes and a miserable back, but Tall Cans!

Over this already. Looks like it finally breaks into something more pleasant tomorrow.

The Late P Brooks on August 14, 2021 at 10:55 am
I was perusing my latest college alumni mag. The death notices are almost exclusively cancer.
I want mine to say, “Died in a shootout with police and FBI anti-terror strike team.”
I want mine to read like this: “… was last seen on Sunday chugging Champagne with two midgets.”

Thinking about visiting the Taliban in Afghanistan. Hear you get a free kalashnikov with no background check. Then I just join the tribe who’s winning right now. Don’t know who that is, just know it’s not the Xiden regime.
As an older man, you’d get all the child sex slaves you could ever ask for, as well.
I ain’t into that shit, but I’ll take the Kalashnikov and a few curvy Afghan wiminz as a bonus.
I’m not a fan of either eating a goat or fucking it. I’ll pass.
Don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it!
No worries man. The default state of man is slavery; thus it is, thus it has always been.

This chick on 90 Day Fiancé has some huge hooters.
True, she’s a gold-digging lunatic and ruining this guy’s life… but would.
Would not marry, but would.
Don’t stick it in crazy. The moment she hides a maxi-pad or toothbrush in your house, you’re on the hook for life.

Heh, was just thinking of that metaphor. How did we describe crazy women in ’86 and earlier?
Can’t you just say “women”?
/TIWTANFL
How many libertarian women does it take to…?
Aw, never mind.
I stuck it in crazy and it was one of the best rides I’ve taken. Yes getting out of the relationship was troublesome… but I didn’t get any sliced tires or whatnot.
Have seen that show, not by my choice.

Since q-ette’s arrival, I have become a connoisseur of trash TV.
Dr. Drew seems to have a minor obsession with that show (and Love Boat reruns).
I had a Shocktop with some rather Glib folks this afternoon.
Gross, too White….
The Beer too,
A little warm. In retrospect the group that showed up would have fit indoors.
It was fun nonetheless, and I’m glad we finally got to visit Gourmeltz!
I’m having a nonalcoholic Heineken. It’s surprisingly decent. Scratches the itch.
I agree, the 0.0 is pretty dang good. It’s expensive though.
I bought some Clausthaler, but I have not tried it yet.
If you’re looking for non-alcoholic beer options, Brewdog has a line of alcohol free beers, and there’s Athletic Brewing that does exclusively NA beer. They’re not bad, but at the price point, I’m not paying for it.
I’ll do bubbly water with a half-shot of booze, before $2 a fake beer.
This right here, NA Beer just ain’t Beer,

Oh, I saw it alright. I thanked you for it too.
My apologies, still catching up on comments from last night.
Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

I had a Nashville Hot chicken sandwich. There was a pulled pork & mac & cheese sandwich that I was tempted by.

Yikes.
Off to sit in a parking lot and drink before enduring a football game. I ain’t complaining. Wife and I needed a day out. I didn’t think ahead and get minimally compliant masks or make a Trump Won sign for shits and giggles
Enjoy the pre-season.
I’m getting ready to see how the Browns defense is looking through the pre-season game, as the first string offense is benched for this game.
Football? Chris Dickerson hitting an Ace was way more entertaining than Sarcastaball,
Huh, these things are on TV. Might check it out.
RE all the “masking here” tales: Here it is only employees forced to comply or lose their job, (some) extremely elderly people, boomers in trendy outdoor clothing and 20 somethings.
It’s drying off wonderfully now that the cold front passed through. Enjoying the dog park.

“Oh that golden? That’s Lily.”
“So that’s the one Mary was talking about.”
She apparently has a reputation.
Heh. I saw a golden named Lily chase off a coyote recently: quite the sight.

Dumbfuckistan cant go somewhere it already was. Attempting to ‘nation build’ there is the dumbest idea our retarded ruling class ever entertained.

Unfortunately I believe a large number of those people would engage you in very animated conversation about “chemtrails” and how “Saturn is broadcasting the simulation” etc. These aren’t the allies I want, but perhaps the ones I deserve?
We had a protest of some size in NYC but it did not make the news. I wonder why.
How crazy (and GREAT!) would it be if the Euros were the ones who lost their shit first and something went sideways there – and some poor public servant got dragged out into a square and torn to shreds on video?
(The judges would also accept “Australia” or “New Zealand”… or anywhere… as acceptable answers)
It’s going to be France again, isn’t it?
But then we would have to save their Asses again, do We really need that?

Bears beat the dolphins in preseason.
So we got that going for us. Which is nice.
I think ATL’s best season was when they lost all their preseason games. On track for a great year so far…..
We moved hole #4 for safety reasons, buried it in a group of trees, Now it’s an Ace run, as in Hole in one. It’s very difficult but we set up a Closest to the pin challenge to follow the Ace runs. Big D hit a 9 footer, then Tyra hit a 6 footer and today I hit a 3 footer, Bang! there have been several pole hits and skip bounces, but no Ace yet, it’s quite thrilling for all of us, because, who wil hit it first? It’s coming….
