We had a serious drought with the higher than average temps this summer. About 10 days ago the maple leaves started changing color but not to red, more brown and dry looking. Ferns dried up, aspen (poplar) and birch leaves yellow and falling. It seems about a month early. I don’t think the colors will be as radiant as usual. Most recently we’re getting the rain as per normal and the grass/weeds have regenerated.
The lack of wild flowers this summer really curtailed the honey production, 50% or more. Honey Harvest goes on but some of the folks will have a little less work, still enough though to get everyone’s hands sticky.
Temps have gone back to seasonal, comfortable. Good to see the rain to go into the fall/winter. Maybe we’ll see more snow this winter.

Two of the best MLB pitchers of the last few years (Sale and Jacob DeGrom) played their college ball at Florida Gulf Coast University and Stetson. Nice programs, to be sure, but not exactly a Florida / FSU / Miami-type threat to advance to the College World Series every year.

I don’t have it in my car – my commute is only long enough to keep an ear on local weather and traffic. I have an obsolete little portable radio with the home kit, which I keep in my office. (I have to keep the radio lying flat on its back now so the dial & selection button don’t fall off.)
