Sunday Morning Chilly Links

“Just always remember how very, very much DeBlasio hates (((us)))…”

I woke up, checked the weather on my phone… 111°??? Oh, fuck, I forgot to reset it for the new location. That’s back in Arizona. Make no mistake, there were so many things we loved there, the 7 months of ridiculous heat notwithstanding. But, c’mon, there’s seasons. To wit, SP and I sat on our back deck last night, feeling the cool breezes and sipping some excellent Rkasiteli. This morning I stepped outside to drain the dog and I could see my breath. This made me unexpectedly happy.  I then sat in the solarium with a cup of coffee and the news and became far less happy.

But at least birthdays cheer me up, and today’s include a guy who lived by a simple maxim; my personal hero and the godfather of us all; the first in a long line of dishonest shitheads; the guy who showed Hitler who was the Faster Race; a guy who, despite what one might think, was not a bot; the most punchable face in DC for many years; the best rabbi ever; a pretty decent drummer; and of course, Prime Cancel.

Let’s get to Links before I freeze out here.

Fuck you, Georgie. Fuck you with barbed wire. Shut up. You’re disgraceful and always have been.

Like this gift from Georgie that keeps on giving.

Whaddaya expect for a couple grand?

Well, they do make some damn fine pie.

So you’ll kill your grandkids after you kill grandma, you benighted rednecks. Now vote the way we tell you.

It will be interesting to see which commenter is missing this morning.

I have an alibi.

Old Guy Music is a can’t fail pairing. And holy fuck, they do not fail!

Responding to Tres’ ghettokitty, why isn’t this something sold by Sanrio?

  3. Zwak, jack off, all trades

    Greetings from the best coast.

    • juris imprudent

Good morning from the front lines holding back the Amish!

      • Zwak, jack off, all trades

Well, I am on the Mennonite front, so I feel your pain!

  4. Stinky Wizzleteats

Bush’s speech was dangerous and it indicates the natural progression the national security state will always take. Honestly, if what happened on the sixth was such a grave threat to the nation, and it wasn’t, then we’re more fragile than a Faberge egg and we’re doomed anyway.

  5. Gender Traitor

When I checked the link, I thought “reformed gangster” meant a (((Reformed))) gangster. Thought, “Man, them Hasidim are tough on the less observant!”

    • Chafed

      Lol ?

  6. Stinky Wizzleteats

“Will the Amish take over America?”
    We could do worse.

    • Gender Traitor

Would be happier with the German Baptists (“Dunkards.”) They run a darn fine food market up the road a piece, and they don’t hold up traffic driving buggies.

      • Tres Cool

You didnt have to go to school with them. I did.

        They can be colossal assholes.

      • Gender Traitor

No kidding? Sorry to hear that. And no, didn’t have any that I was aware of in the Dayton Public Schools I attended (both of them.)

They make a damn fine pie.

      • Tres Cool

Dunkard boys usually only attended school until 8th grade, if they were sticking with agriculture as a career. Some went to JVS for a trade like carpentry (no auto mechanics, duh). The girls usually went all 12 years, and were notorious sluts. Some guys have a thing for asian broads. Or maybe black or latina. My buddy Tim loved Dunkards in their bonnets and denim dresses.

      • Yusef drives a Kia

That explains my next door neighbor with the denim dresses thing, I thought she was just a runaway amish gal,

      • Gender Traitor

Might also be Pentecostal, if I’ve been informed correctly. Long hair too?

      • Yusef drives a Kia

Yep, constanly in braids, broad Germanic face, gap toothed, it’s a very common look for some folks up here, I’m not sure of the background, never asked.

      • Ted S.

We had a Hutterite community in our school district.

They mostly kept to themselves and seemed harmless.

      • Stinky Wizzleteats

Hopefully they don’t come out on top, they do a sort of communal living that I don’t think I could deal with.

    • Tres Cool

I do have some pretty cute Mennonite cousins.

“George W. Bush compares ‘violent extremists at home’ to 9/11 terrorists in 20th anniversary speech”

Hunter has his ‘art’ as a mechanism to launder money. Bush just bought a baseball team to fund his coke use.

  8. Suthenboy

“I then sat in the solarium with a cup of coffee and the news and became far less happy.”

Ugh. Why did I do it? I looked at the links. I think I am going to turn the Hallmark Channel back on.

I remember right after 9/11/01 seeing the whole of congress standing on the steps of the capitol with their hands on their hearts reciting the Star Spangled Banner. I accidentally said out loud “Oh my God, we are so fucked.”
The other people in the room, I am not going to say who, reflexively said “Whaaaaaaa? Hmmmmm? Whuuuuuuut? What are you talking about?”
I did not know how to answer that.

    • limey

“Because the terrorists unified the powers of the donkey and the elephant and that’s bad for everyone, not just the terrorists”, might work, crudely speaking.

      • TARDis

I naively believed that it would unite us all because everyone would see who are enemies are. So childish I was. Then I read the words Dept. of Homeland Security and knew fascism was inbound.

The most sickening part was listening to all the Connies cheering it on. You know… for safety reasons. I told several of them off. “Get the fuck out of here with your fight them over there so we don’t have to fight them here bullshit.” The enemy has always been among us and now their army of useful idiots has achieved critical mass, sufficient funding, and 21st century inter-communication technology.

    • Ghostpatzer

Congress: “Well lookee here, a whole pile o’ dead bodies to stand on”

Never let a crisis go to waste, you grandstanding cuntes

    • DrOtto

When Bush implored not to let the terrorists win, I knew they had won. He’s a fucking war criminal, why are we giving him a soap box now? Fuck him, he should be in prison for his lies that lead to the bullshit endless wars that killed Americans for no good reason.

      • Zwak, jack off, all trades

He gets a soap box now in the same way the last but one R always gets a soap box “see, even XXX isn’t as bad as YYYY!”

        Shit never changes.

      • Loveconstitution1789

        G. Bush committed war crimes by allowing torture by Americans. He and his neo-con cronies set American moral high ground back. Congress let it happen. Americans let it happen. Bush was still better than Gore. Which is sad.

Democrats are so horrible that Republicans get tricked into putting up RINOs like G. Bush, Romney, McCain…

Trump changed all that. Trump put America first and tried to roll back Communist policy in government. RINOs hated Trump, which illustrates how well Trump doing behind the scenes. Commies and their RINO supporters had to get rid of Trump.

  9. limey

I’m writing (wronging) my first Glibs piece. My general rule is don’t say “I’m going to”, just do it/actions greater than words, but I wanted to mark this point right here to see how long it takes me given no idea when I’ll fit it in.

    • limey

Ps – it is relevant to one of the topics in the links so please no catbutt.

    • ElspethFlashman

Not catbutting : 1. It’s hard to find the time to do it. 2. It’s hard not to try to pick at everything you’ve written multiple times before you give it the OK (I suffer from this all the time at work) 3. It’s worth it so do it anyway. Try not to overthink. You are your own harshest critic.

      • Suthenboy

Suthenboy’s rule of thumb: Wait two weeks and go back and read it again. Then start over.

Wow, I really hit that out to the park! After two weeks and a re-read I am usually thinking “Who broke into my computer and wrote this crap?”

      • ElspethFlashman

I’m the opposite. I go to court and re-read my pleadings sitting there waiting for my turn, thinking: damn that was eloquent. But when I send the pleadings out I’m like : seems shaky.
I now have a thing if I am arguing first that I go over where “we” are at procedurally, in case the judge didn’t do that first. In other words, we submitted this on xx, 2021, and the other side responded on xxx, etc. etc.

    • juris imprudent

I’m still reading the other half of my article-to-be – thought I would get to do some reading on vacation (don’t know where I got that silly idea).

    • Suthenboy

Mrs. Suthenboy: “I wish you would quit procrastinating.”

Me: “I will. I am just waiting for the right time.”

Permit me to chime in here, limey. Just do it! Looking forward to reading whatever it is you come up with.

    • Loveconstitution1789

I think its hilarious that so many people are standing up to vaccine tyranny. Thats why I advocate making your employers fire you for that reason. There is strength in numbers. You dont know the numbers until people fight back.

Our Commie media does purposely not report on resistance numbers as much as they can or they spin the story.

      Organization does help resistance movements.

      • Loveconstitution1789

I hit post comment before I wrote this:

Lefties hate that American organization doesnt need traditional organizational methods like propaganda, meetings, commanders, etc.

Americans answer the call to Arms in their own ways which foils Communist tactics to takeover that might work in other places.

Americans are mostly defeating Commies in America and we havent even used our guns yet.

California’s battle with climate change is at stake in Tuesday’s recall election

    ??

    Never change, CNBC.

    • Ghostpatzer

I eagerly await that blessed day when the ubiquitous “This product is known to the State of California to cause *insert disease here*” can no longer be found on everyday products. A man can dream…

      • rhywun

I bought some completely innocuous food product recently – I wish I could remember what it was – that had a little box on the back reading something like, “California requires us to inform you that this product might contain blah blah blah.”

        When everything contains cancer-causing chemicals….

      • prolefeed

Sometimes it’s a de facto ban instead of a warning. Looked at a pressure washer yesterday that was “not for sale in California / 49 state compliant”.

“This product is known to the state of California to cause severe internal bleeding”

      • Fourscore

        …and that’s just the packaging…

That’s a Hail Mary pass to try and make the election about anything other than COVID and Biden.

  12. Suthenboy

“Will the Amish take over America?”
    We can hope, can’t we?

Fuck George Bush. That is all.

Climate change. Fuck that also. I was recently asked by a relative (HS graduate) why I don’t buy into the climatescam. “Oh I dunno, 60 hours of earth science. What do I know?”
At least I didn’t have to listen to any more bullshit.

    • Stinky Wizzleteats

Back in the Obama days when Bush re-emerged with his paintings I remember several articles psychoanalyzing them and pointing to signs of regret and self-contemplation. As with most pop psychology they were dead wrong, it’s obvious Bush II hasn’t learned a damn thing.

      • Drake

The motherfucker who started two pointless wars calling people “violent extremists”. Fuck him.

      • Ghostpatzer

“Look! Iraq! Iran!”. Never mind that Usama was Saudi royalty leading a team of Saudi murderers. All about the money.

      • Loveconstitution1789

Saudis checks are huge and thats all you need to know.

Anyone else see the link between America’s oil fracking industry being hounded by the federal govt and Saudis not having that sweet American oil income?

      • Suthenboy

You are keeping count? I lost count and gave up trying.

Someone here recently referred to DC as Panem on the Potomac. I think that is accurate.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

Scott Horton keeps track for me.

      • Trigger Hippie

        Yikes.

  13. Trigger Hippie

From the TSA article: ‘By doubling the range of penalties, we seek to reinforce the importance of voluntary adherence.’

Doesn’t sound very voluntary to me.

Also: ‘The federal mask mandate applies to individuals at airports, on commercial aircraft and in various modes of surface transportation, including passenger railroads, intercity bus services and other public transportation.’

So we’re going to see TSA agents at inner city bus stations now?

    • Plinker762

Just wait until they give the TSA authority over all private transportation.

    • R C Dean

Once there is a punishment in view, there is no such thing as voluntary compliance.

      • Suthenboy

        Bingo.

  14. Trigger Hippie

‘While Newsom has taken only moderate actions to curb climate change, replacing him could result in a rollback of green policies such as phasing out fracking and gasoline-powered vehicles…’

    Moderate actions.

      • Trigger Hippie

The man oozes sleaze. Anyone who was willing to put up with someone as obnoxious and stupid as Kimberly Guilfoyle had no soul to begin with. Don’t care what her body looks like, can’t stand that women.

      • Suthenboy

        “The man oozes sleaze. ”

I used to work with a salesman. I thought he was pretty slimy. Then he quit the company we were with and worked briefly for a used car place. He came back and got his old job back because he said the used car guys made him look like a Sunday school Teacher and he couldn’t tolerate them.
When I see Newsome that is who I think of. Yes, he oozes sleaze.

      • Trigger Hippie

He looks like what would have happened if Pat Riley ran a porn studio.

    • Suthenboy

I have a vague memory of reading a sci-fi short story while my 1st?2nd? grade teacher was trying to teach my idiot cohorts how to read. The story involved a man fleeing from government agents of some sort….I cant remember why. He tried to get away from them in a chickenshit, underpowered electric car that was barely bigger than a go-cart. His government pursuers had full blown, high powered gasoline cars. I thought that would never happen.
Hey, it was grade school. I was naive.

Speaking of which, lately I have had half of a dozen people stop by and attempt to buy my Jeep.

Hastings is a colossal piece of shit that subsidized Obama’s retirement in return for him pushing net neutrality.

      • Trigger Hippie

I’m really glad I gave up Netflix over a year ago. They had a couple original shows I liked but they got canceled and the third season of Stranger Things was a disaster of a memberberries shitshow. Didn’t know until later just how much the management was corrupted.

Your article dropped while I was sleeping. Good read. Thanks for writing it up.

As for my way less consequential ‘where was I when the walls towers fell’; I was asleep in Las Vegas. My older brother was flying out of northern New York that morning and I get a frantic call from my oldest sister sometime after 6am Pacific, ‘He’s OK! He’s OK!’. Having no idea what she was talking about she told me to turn on the TV. As I was on the phone with her watching the second plane hit.

First I hate 18 year old high achievers.

Second what was more important, the Romanian blood, the Chinese blood, the being born in Canada or raise in England part? Or was it all dumb luck.

    • rhywun

The sportsheads were so blatantly favoring the other chick they didn’t spend any time on Raducanu’s intersectionality so it’s hard to say.

Chickens and sheep are out doing there thing, the 13 year old girl’s birthday bash (oh wow, do they generate drama) are still asleep.

Our presidents slide into the 25th amendment seems to be increasing. I bet he does not last the year.
My “farm list” of things to gets done grows faster then i can get to it….

Oh, lordy! You didn’t mention yesterday that it was a “slumber” party!

“Slumber” parties. With 13-year-old girls. Been there, done that. (Not as the parent/chaperone, thank goodness!)

      Thoughts & prayers.

      • robodruid

Twice, the girl was in tears hiding in the back shower. Would not tell me why.
When i return from putting chickens up, everything was all good. How can things change so fast?

Well at least i have pictures of her first birthday party. Hopefully its a positive memory for her.

      • Gender Traitor

I suspect the fact that you gave her one WILL be a positive memory.

      • Fourscore

The good thing about teenagers is they grow up and become responsible adults, mostly. My kids are late 50s now and they are constantly remembering the things I told them, that they mostly ignored, but have used through out their life.

Most important thing we did together was teaching and learning how to read, all good things came after that. I can sympathize with you, robo, now wait for the first lost love (and the 2nd, third, 4th) and then you’ll ignore the drama.

Remember, you are in a learning mode, too. Teenagers, “oughta be a law”

When I was able to be home to watch NFL games (or at a friends) I never saw most of the commercials, that was time to take a piss and get another beer. When I worked at the radio station running the game broadcast was my job, so I never had the TV audio on and I tuned out most of the ads we ran only focusing on making them run correctly. Now that the games are on either while I’m asleep or on my way to work I DVR them and skip all the ads and bloated commentary when I watch.

Ohmygod. There exists a profession which doesn’t require a license!

    https://www.nj.com/news/2021/09/hire-at-your-own-risk.html

    We need more of this:

“To get a license to give a $15 haircut in New Jersey, stylists must complete 1,200 hours of instruction at a state-approved school and take a state exam”

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

They obviously need more licensing requirements to be a reporter.

      • Suthenboy

I think that idea has been floated before…by journalists.

‘Criminals can also get a pass. While the state’s Home Improvement Contractor (HIC) registration application asks whether the applicant or any company officers have been convicted of a crime, a conviction won’t necessarily stop someone from receiving the HIC registration, according to the Division of Consumer Affairs. And because the statute explicitly does not allow criminal background checks, there’s nothing to stop a criminal from lying.

In the absence of greater protections, homeowners often have to fend for themselves.’

So? The HIC guys still have to carry liability insurance. And I hate break it to the reporter here but typically home repair/construction guys are a rough lot with a shady past. Vet too hard and you’d wipe out half that workforce then your home would either be still fucked up or fixing it would cost twice as much.

Anti-vaxxer me got a Tetanus booster there about a month ago. Fucking Empire BC/BS will not cover it. So they will pay for an experimental “vaccine” which may or may not actually work, but not for something which is proven, effective, and necessary. Bizzaro world.

  30. Lord Humungus

Y’know I always used to wonder why retired guys spent so much time on their lawns, or, in my old man’s case, updating everything in the house. New toilets? Sure. A $38,000 back deck? Why not? Paint the garage floor? Yes!

Even going to multiple estate sales and thrift stores a week, along with pricing things, cleaning and bagging records, booth maintenance, etc I still have too much free time on my hands. I suppose I should get back into book writing again, or making robots, or get an old car to work on.

    • Fourscore

But first things first. An hour or two early morning, like 6 Am-8AM, time in the local coffee shop, hanging with a bunch of other retirees that didn’t know each other before they retired. Then it’s time to mow the lawn for the third time this week, sweep the driveway (if you don’t have a nice riding lawnmower with a vacuum), straighten up the tackle box you haven’t used in 2-3 years and hit the garage sales on the other side of town. Buy anything you think your kids want/need (they don’t) because you got a good deal.

Afterwards, he couldn’t remember most of the experience (which is probably for the best because it was horrible), and thought that he had been alone the whole time. It was sad that he didn’t remember us being there, but he knew we there at the time and it did make a difference.
