I heard once that Toto expected Rosanna to be their big hit, so they threw all their promotion behind it, and Africa was more of an afterthought.

Way to go EA, alienate and piss off your customers. That’ll get the money flowing.

The idiocy of California spreads to MT and elsewhere. I don’t suppose Idaho stops can be blamed on California though.

    • hayeksplosives

I’ve seen lane-splitting on 5 lane highways during rush hour in California that can’t fail to conjure the term “natural selection.”

But I don’t want them to fuck up MY car while they do it.

      • Chafed

I generally don’t wish motorcyclists any ill. But it definitely falls into natural selection as you said.

      • Nephilium

I’ve seen idiots do it on bicycles on a two lane one way road going up to a stop light. Just so all the cars they just passed could pass them when the light turned green.

      • Zwak, sensual panzer

I love lane splitting when I still rode.

The safest thing you can do, as long as drivers aren’t dicks.

      • blackjack

I know of exactly two people whp have crashed lane splitting. One was crazy as fuck and crashed at over a hundred after smacking a mirror with his bars and the other hit a guy’s door after he openwd it to spit. I know dozens of people who crashed other ways. Lane splitting is far safer than not almost always. Just give them some extra space to get by and everyone willbe happy.

    • Loveconstitution1789

If you do stuff that typical horrible drivers dont expect you are asking for an accident. Motorcycles just amplify the injuries. If you fuck with cars you will lose.

I once had a few motorcycle guys try to citizen enforce me by blocking both lanes of an interstate so I wouldnt pass them faster than the speed limit in the left PASSING LANE. I flashed my lights to let them know they were blocking traffic and not moving right as slower traffic As REQUIRED BY THE WHITE SIGNS “slower traffic move right”.

I passed the bikes on the right shoulder and got back to my normal 90 mph speed. The motorcycle sped up to follow too close and do some kind of citizen enforcing. I slammed on the brakes and saw the guys shit himself facial expression. He slowed way down and never bothered me again.

“I can’t support $3.5 trillion more in spending when we have already spent $5.4 trillion since last March,” West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, a moderate Democrat, said in a statement released Wednesday. “At some point, all of us, regardless of party, must ask the simple question – how much is enough?”

Wow. I guess he wants to get re-elected.

Beginning Oct. 1, lane filtering will become legal for motorcyclists in the state of Montana, which experts say will ease traffic congestion but could make motorcycle riding more dangerous.

Interesting. The first time I encountered lane filtering/splitting was in Australia. I was not expecting it.

    • hayeksplosives

I find it quite telling that Manchin is from WV and Simena is from AZ.

They are by no means guaranteed re-election if they go along with this nonsense.

(The proggies in Az are already fundraising to Primary Simena)

I went to a high school in the hood but yet I had a better civics education than a lot of my acquaintances who went to school in affluent suburbs. I say this because a lot of them are whining on social media that it isn’t fair that two Senators from low population states should be able to hold up the process. I wanna be like….. “Bitch, the Senate is suppose to represent the state and the House is suppose to represent the constitutes of a state based on their population, ya dumb fuck.”

      • The Other Kevin

When one of my kids was little, she and I had a conversation about the word “fair”. In the end she said that “fair” meant she got what she wanted. I think everyone who uses it has that same definition.

  10. KSuellington

“Beginning Oct. 1, lane filtering will become legal for motorcyclists in the state of Montana, which experts say will ease traffic congestion but could make motorcycle riding more dangerous.“

Good law. Lane splitting is not inherently dangerous and in some situations is absolutely safer for the motorcyclist. Not to mention it makes logical sense not to sit in a traffic jam as a motorcyclist when you easily have enough room to move on through. Good move for Montana.

    • hayeksplosives

The cyclists just need to use their brains while doing it. Some take risks that seem nuts.

      • Sensei

        Exactly.

I’ve no issues with them doing it at sane speeds. Problem is they think that means 50MPH or more. Or that they should be able to filter through traffic that’s moving at more than about 10 MPH.

      • UnCivilServant

I’ve never seen someone split lanes at less than seventy.

      • UnCivilServant

I love it when one whips past while I’m changing lanes in their direction (with signals on)

I’m amazed that there aren’t more red smears on the interstates.

      • hayeksplosives

That’s the kind of thing I’m talking about.

If a car adjacent but slightly ahead of my is signaling, I’ll hang back to make space for him in front of me, and then, even if he’s started to angle in, VOOM ! Comes a motorcycle screaming past us.

        Insanity.

    • grrizzly

I’ve been doing it all the time in MA, where it’s not legally permitted. That was the only way to stay sane when I commuted back home (the old place) in the evening. Then from time to time I drove a car to work and was reminded how awful it was to get stuck in traffic with no option to escape.

    • Mojeaux

I have split lanes but I didn’t like to do it too much. I could just see a cage driver opening a door in front of me just tobe a dick.

    • KSuellington

In California you are not supposed to do it when traffic is moving higher than 50. I actually wouldn’t even call that lane splitting. If traffic is moving that fast it is essentially rapid lane shifting. I only do it when traffic is either stopped (like at a red light or moving very slowly. When traffic is moving at even 10mph you have to be super careful for those that make unsignaled lane changes rapidly. No doubt there are plenty of idiot motorcyclists out there. I’ve seen plenty of that. But in heavy slow traffic or at a light it really doesn’t need to be dangerous, and is probably safer for the motorcyclist than sitting at the tail end of traffic eating for someone on their phone to plow into their back at 25mph.

    • Mojeaux

As far as I can tell, aren’t lane splitting and lane filtering two different things?

      • KSuellington

I thought they were the same thing from the article I quickly skimmed through. I don’t consider what UCS described as lane splitting. A better description would be high speed lane shifting, and yes, it is highly reckless and should not (and is not) legal anywhere that I know of.

      • Mojeaux

My understanding is that lane splitting is driving through traffic on the line, between two lanes of cars that may or may not be moving, and stay that way until you can find a spot in a lane to drive in.

I understood lane filtering to be almost the same, but with stopped traffic at a light, with the intent to pull up to the stoplight and cut in front of the first car to wait for the light to change.

      • KSuellington

If that’s the case then there is no way such a thing should be illegal. Small win for liberty.

    • Bobarian LMD

Or some street racer might go zooming by at 30 miles per hour,

Yeah… That’s not a street racer; if your car doesn’t rock a little when the pass you by, they’re not even trying.

      • Mojeaux

The thing about crotch rockets I find amusing is that, because they’re expensive, some tuffcoolgai buys a 250cc engine on a full-size chassis and he sounds like he’s driving a lawnmower.

I had a neighbor who had a 1500cc Ninja and it was satisfactorily throaty.

      • Ozymandias

My FZ-1 was a Yamaha R1 liter bike that they slid the pegs forward a little and the handlebars angled up so you could commute easier. Amazing bike (that they don’t make anymore). Sufficiently throaty when I wanted to leave traffic behind.
The CBR-954 I had was just a competition bike dressed up as a Coors lite can.
I miss them both so much.

I’m not sure how to count the many ways I’m triggered. First the title. Second it’s all CAPS. Third the pronunciation by the expert is awful. And fourth, so is the grammar.

Thank God in those days none of that shit mattered when one was trying to win a war.

When I was in Okinawa the Marines used go-men-a-sai as “you’re fucked”. So I was amused when I started to really try to learn Japanese and discovered it really meant “I’m sorry”

Thanks. I’ve been assured by two attorneys that we’re in the clear because we’ve never accepted money from her, but the thought of interfacing with the bureaucracy in a situation like this is anathema. I don’t trust them at all.

I wonder, in my more cynical moments, if that cop, realizing that he was being recorded, said what he said in order to give himself plausible deniability in some future world where perhaps the police in Australia would be held partially responsible for the shit that’s going down there right now.

I’ll make this offer/request here in PM links where there are more Glibs:

Any Glib with website design want to make some extra $$ to fix up my Patreon account/blog? I think it only requires some minor cosmetic changes and a few mods, nothing exceptional.
It’s WordPress I believe (much to my chagrin) so familiarity with that is likely a necessity… (I think).
Shoot me an email please and we can discuss details. I’ll pay market rates for the work and I don’t think it will require more than a few hours (then again, I don’t know how to code, so take that with the appropriate amount of salt)

    • The coolest vaccine-free BEAM in the world™

I would think such an offer would be right up SP’s or WebDom’s alley.

      • Ozymandias

SP did the original, but she’s got a bunch of other stuff going on. Although if she can find the time, that’s cool, too. I just didn’t want to impose given their recent move and new gig as restaurateurs.

“ATLANTA (CBS46) — A 30-year-old Douglasville woman named Terresha Lucas has been charged with making terroristic threats in the Brookmont subdivision of Douglasville.

According to the Douglasville Police Department, residents on Manning Drive began receiving notes last December from a person who claimed to be a white male member of the Ku Klux Klan. The notes threatened to burn down homes and kill people.

The police department’s investigation into the notes led them to Lucas, who is a Black woman.

Lucas, who described herself as a 6-foot tall, white male with a long, red beard, has been charged with 8 counts of making terroristic threats.”

  21. LCDR_Fish

Random dumb question….I used to use half.com to get rid of books/dvds pretty easily/conveniently – but now that ebay has completely absorbed it, things look a little messier. Does anyone know if there’s still a simple way to just list a title by ISBN # if you want to unload it “fairly cheaply” without going through all the rigmarole of validating the exact condition – ie. used, good condition? Instant sale vs bidding issues?

Also….I do have some collectible items that I’m thinking about selling just to free up space and funds – but again, not sure I want to deal with the issue of grading/scoring and being paranoid about buyers. Any glibs have a lot of experience with ebay recently? I haven’t done much at all for the last 10+ yrs – hence I had to create a new account and lose my decently scored previous account to inactivity.

    • Mojeaux

eBay now has a huge database for media and you really don’t even need to write a description, just mark the condition from a drop-down list.

      • LCDR_Fish

Ok, so they carried that over from half.com then.

BTW, was there someone here in the market for the Dune Encyclopedia?

      • Mojeaux

I don’t know about half.com. On eBay you just put in the ISBN, click a few buttons, upload a pic, and boom, you’re done.

    • whiz

I’ve recently been selling a number of things from my Mom’s estate and from our basement on eBay. As Mojeaux mentioned, it is fairly easy. Also, eBay handles the payment (for a fee, of course), and you don’t ship until payment is confirmed. The fees do seem to be higher than many years ago, but, for me, the fewer hassles makes it worth it. Listing an item is free.

    • Loveconstitution1789

Also Amazon allows you to be 3rd party seller like ebay but the amazon fees really take a bite out of profit. You get bigger audience though, if you just cant sell something on ebay.

      • Loveconstitution1789

I know y’all want the easier way by simply breaking up with the democrats. Never going to happen.

Democrats are commies and commies wont ever stop because their ideology requires dragging everyone into slavery.

On the upshot, democrats are pussies in general. Once civil war 2.0 turns violent, democrats wont last long. Its why the democrats are so desperate to avoid armed patriots from defending themselves.

    https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/574964-supreme-court-denies-new-york-city-teachers-request-to-block-vaccine

The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a request from a group of New York City public school teachers to block the city’s coronavirus vaccine mandate.

The teachers, who refused to receive a COVID-19 inoculation, filed their request Thursday to Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who handles emergency matters arising from New York, after losing in the lower courts.

Sotomayor denied their request unilaterally and without comment.

I personally think that some conservatives like barrett are avoiding doing their job to make govt insufferable to more and more Americans. That is one strategy to cause the tipping point on americans fighting back.

Kind of like the frog being heat shocked a few times and it gets pissed then attacks the person handling the heat.

I personally think hyperinflation and forced firings will be the straw that breaks the camels back.
