Yep, the winter inversion has arrived. I’m ready for some storms to blow this stuff out.
It’s been awhile since we’ve had a world war. I think we’re probably due.
I’m shocked, shocked I tell you, that this is happening in the south.
Just go ahead and make the switch already, Joe.
Peace out, Glibbies! Enjoy your evening.

And to put it in simple terms, security software that quite a few IT people use is just throwing up a warning for both of those links that they may be attacks to steal our Glib credentials and anything we enter here. So… take that for what it’s worth.
Weird. I copied that right off of YouTube.

Well, my first half-hearted venture at Christmas shopping was a bust. Didn’t see anything at the little clothing boutique that excited me as potential gifts for my sisters, and when I pulled up to the little new & used book store, I saw the sign on the door that said “Mask required to shop.”
Nope.
So I came home & took a nap.
Naps are good
Hey Gunslinger, I did go see the Sequoia, 5 minutes from home, I did a pictorial, maybe TPTB will set it free. A very nice Botanical park, and pleasants views, Thanks for the tip!
Awesome! I’ll watch for it.

Take this mask and shove it…I ain’t wearin’ it no more. I think rural MN has finally figured it out. Saw of my friends/classmates today who used to wear a mask and a shield. She was mingling today, sans mask, with a couple hundred other non maskers at a funeral today. Only saw 1 mask, a younger woman.
I was expecting Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King
The fact that newer TV commercials depict “normal” people maskless gives me hip that advertisers sense that people really want to go back to normal and that seeing masked faces does not put us in a good mood and in fact connects their product to negative connotations.
I would have guessed Fucik’s Entry of the Gladiators.
Lol.
Almost the only commercials I see with masks are either vax propaganda or selling masks. I think one of the drug store chains has them too. One or two others that I can’t remember what they were selling. All the advertisers have known all along not to depict reality.
2020 had a lot of commercials showing “happy” families masked up and enjoying the new normal.
I hated the propaganda. Nobody wanted this to become the new normal.
It’s possible I blocked all of that from my mind.
I went to a memorial this summer for a guy who died at the height of the original Rona panic. Back when the lockdowns prevented anyone from having an actual funeral.
Anyhow, I went to the service and some young gal came around and started asking all the people there to “put on a mask for safety” and passing out fancy black masks. I’m no longer a local back there but you could tell that this gal was from the Big City by the way she acted and dressed.
You could watch everyone she talked to get a look on their face like the were ready to tell her to go fuck herself. Then the small town folks had the second thought that they didn’t want to create a scene and take away from the rememberances f the guy who had passed away, so they put on the mask.
You dont have to make a scene by saying something, just ignore those mask tyrants.
Honestly, I dont see how you people did what the tyrants wanted.
Georgia didnt have lockdowns or mask mandates. Most businesses that demanded masks lost massive business and caved to “mask recommended” within a few months. I dont have a mask, dont wear a mask, and am just saddened by people who cave to tyranny.
I get that you have to do what you need to but there is strength in numbers. The more Americans tell the mask/vax tyrants to fuck off or ignore them the quicker the tyrants cave.

The onion story is completely unsurprising, they should visit the tomato plantations of Immokalee, Florida.
Does this mean that we can say Biden is enabling a trans-national slave trade?
“some were allegedly forced to dig for onions with their bare hands”
While others wore cheap cotton gloves to pull the onions out of the ground. Onions, it is known, are surface growing vegetables and quite easy to harvest, except for the constant bending over, which is consistent with most garden products.
Is there any reason a machine can’t do it?
No reason at all
Machines are expensive.
Only in the short term.
Maintenance is a thing. Also, setup costs.
Same problems with slave labor. In the long run, you get more onions with machines than trafficked laborers.
You have to change them out now and then, like your orphans.

With a lot of us facing an uncertain job future, maybe the answer is to start our own company?

Though the Oregon Health Authority lifted the state’s outdoor mask mandate last week, “separate mask rules for indoor spaces, schools and healthcare settings all remain in place,” writes KGW8. And with that requirement soon expiring, leaders are working to switch to what’s being called a permanent mandate before then.
The Oregon Health Authority can go fuck itself.
As tensions mount between Washington and Moscow over a potential Russian invasion of Ukraine, U.S. intelligence has found the Kremlin is planning a multi-front offensive as soon as early next year involving up to 175,000 troops, according to U.S. officials and an intelligence document obtained by The Washington Post.
Biden needs to distract from his other failures.
Victims include over one hundred laborers smuggled from Mexico and Central America into “brutal” and “inhumane” working conditions. Under the threat of gun violence, some were allegedly forced to dig for onions with their bare hands, earning only 20 cents for each bucket harvested. At least two people died on the job. Another was allegedly repeatedly raped.
Why do I think this is bullshit?
Because they use the phrase, ‘…threat of gun violence,’.
Proggie tropes poison everything they touch.
Everyone knows gun violence is so much worse than regular violence.
If you’re killed by a gun, you go to ultrasoopermega hell and if you’re killed by regular violence you go you 100%24/7orgasm heaven.
Ergo: guns must be banned.
Because it has all the qualities of bullshit? That would be my guess.

Goodbye Chris
CNN said Saturday that anchor Chris Cuomo has been “terminated” by the network, “effective immediately.”
Does it strike anyone as odd that CNN got Potatohead to throw him under the bus? And to claim he had “misgivings” the whole time?!
I laughed at that too. Irony, how I love you.
Some folks on the previous thread asked about no-vax job boards and how to bring up lack of vaccination status.
Folks recommended redballoon and gab’s no-vax job board. Both have good resources but weren’t able to help me.
For lack of vaccination status, with the two recruiters I worked with, I brought up that I’m not going to get the vaccine because I had Covid and have the paperwork to prove it. One recruiter said nothing about it. The other started talking about how he thinks the government is overstepping its bounds. This one is the one that got me the leads which led to two competing job offers.
With both companies, I explained to the hiring managers, as part of the offer process, that I had Covid and I won’t get the vaccine. The recruiter knew I was talking to the hiring managers about this. One hiring manager understand and had no problems with my decision, but he warned me that his company might require it. At the time he and I talked, there was no mandate but he was worried one was coming down the line. The other hiring manager said, “I’m not sure it’s legal for us to ask you about whether or not you’re vaccinated”. I didn’t say anything about it actually is legal. Anyways, he and I talked, and he also had no problem with my decision and was clear that it would not be a problem with that company. That company is the one I went with.
My advice, based on what I’ve done, is get the job first. Then as part of the offer negotiations, talk about whether or not a vaccine is required for the job.
Job first, and great work D!
Looks like College Football Playoff is going to be a mess. With less than 2 minutes left, Alabama is up by 2 touchdowns over Georgia.

Wife and I agree, college football stops being fun after Thanksgiving weekend.
Well, just found out about something pretty fucked up. A couple months ago I finally got a capable assistant to help me on my projects. For over a month he showed up on time, didn’t call in, followed instructions, did things well if not quickly but overall the dude was working out.
Two weeks ago he no called, no showed. My boss and I thought that he probably decided to go work with his buddy since that was his side gig. After trying to reach him for a couple days we thought fuck it. He’s gone, see him on payday. We’ll after two paydays passing he still hasn’t reached us. So my boss does some checking on FB. The dude and his wife apparently commented frequently there. Two weeks ago they went silent. So he starts checking crime and accident reports around the city. Sure enough, a young couple died in an automobile accident right around the area he lived two weeks ago. We can’t be sure it’s them because the families didn’t release the names to the public but the couple described also had a few children. That dude had three.
It really makes you wonder.
Shit man… sorry.
Yikes, sorry.
I had a similar experience, back in the day. I hired a likeable guy, not exceptional but for the pay he was adequate The he didn’t show up, didn’t call in.
A month later he came in, ready for work, I tried to pin his down but he said he was sick and in the hospital. Dawned on me, he’d been gone exactly 30 days in the “hospital”. I’d already replaced him so I let him go.
A couple weeks later I’m watching the local news and Jim shows up, as the head of a native American group, on tax payer money. He had a better job with less work, I’m sure, and no one to hold him accountable.
Failing up, The American Dream!
Damn…
Man. That is harsh.
Seems like if you told the local police dept that you hadn’t heard from this employee for a while, they could at least give you a “yes” or “no”.
On the other hand
1) An inquiry could trigger a police welfare checks, which don’t necessarily go well
2) If no one has posted condolences to their FB page, it’s less likely it’s them.
Have you checked http://www.legacy.com? National database of obituaries.
1) Never speak to the police. Especially when you’re somebody of my yolk and ESPECIALLY about a missing person. I’m no hardened or even really a practicing criminal at this point but I consider cops to be the most immediate threat to my life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.
2) This is a good point. He claimed he saw somebody on his FB page online for awhile but no comments or posts. Nothing after that day. Could have been a family of member, could have been him. No idea…
Please keep in mind I didn’t do any checking myself. This is all second hand reports from what my boss told me. He’s the kind of dude who would spend his spare time digging into this shit but for all I know he’s talking out his ass and trying to pocket the labor. Neither would shock me.
3) I never got the dude’s last name. We just exchanged numbers for work purposes…if he wanted his fetti I’m sure he would have texted me. I didn’t block him or anything. It’s just weird that a guy who recently moved from the rural areas just East of the Mississippi with a young growing family would ghost a business that owed him near grand.
At my last company we had a developer who was a fun guy but had a problem with drugs and booze.
He had already gotten kicked out of the Coast Guard Academy for some drug stuff. When he worked he did fine. For the most part he showed up on time and was no problems. Everyone liked him.
One Monday he didn’t show up and no one knew where he was. Same thing Tuesday. Since he had some code that was needed for an upcoming demo another manager and I started calling around trying to get a hold of him. Called his parents, called hospitals, jails, the whole bit. His parents finally called us back and told us they had found him in the Cook County jail.
Apparently he had gone on a bender, gotten robbed by his new “friends”. Then the bar called the cops since he had no money and was too drunk/high to make any sense. So the cops put him in the detox tank When he sobered up he didn’t want anyone to know what had happened so he decided to stay in jail until his court date rather than try to get bailed out.
He had to do a drug test (which he passed) for HR, but then lasted another month or so before he got a new job (with better pay).
Same here, different guy, only his brother called early Monday morning, explained that Todd was in the slammer on a DWI, begged me not to fire Todd. Todd was a good employee, got some bad jail time but was allowed to come to work week days but spend nights and week ends in jail, ’til his time was up. Went on to become the manager of a store. Pissed off the other employees that had to fill in the late/weekend shifts though.
Just heard via Radio Free California that Cato finally updated their site: https://www.freedominthe50states.org
Again….still can’t figure out their metrics. Colorado is 12…Wyoming is 26….and Alaska is 24, Texas is 21….
Granted weed isn’t legal in WY…and I guess they have some other factors in their metrics too:
Just some bizarre rationalizations IMO. I’ll need to take some time digging through the rest of the states – this is the first time the site has been updated since 2016.
And apparently there’s no reference to COVID at all – which may be why NH is still #1 for “freedom”.
Sortof.
The governor isn’t doing much with respect to Covid. However, attempts to push back resulted in some not-so-good changes to the relevant laws.
Contrast with PA: Thanks to the constitutional amendments, PA is in better shape with respect to the relevant laws. On the other hand, the governor is still doing what he wants and I expect the state Supreme Court will side with him.
This is mostly true. I can travel/shop/dine/work sans mask/vax/hassle.
Stay out of Philly.
Main thing Colorado has going for it is the fact that the ski resorts own the legislature at the governor. They have the ability to make or break any politician and they have decreed no more restrictions. Which is why, in spite of his leftyhood, Reason’s-wet-dream hasn’t issued anything and has stayed very quiet.
Michigan!
We’re #7!
Like all these things, you need to ditch the overall ranking and look at the individual categories and decide which ones are most meaningful to you.
Get out!
Yeah, I figure WY has what I want right now and I can work on making it better once I get there;p
Everyone in an unhappy marriage says that. “I thought I could change them!”
I was surprised to hear from some Glibs in Montana and Wyoming how many lefty shitbirds live in that part of the country. I thought the opposite was true.
Aren’t a lot of those CA rejects and moved because of the problems in CA? Brought the same mentality with them.
That is probably the case, yes. Same in Tejas. Same in Idaho.

It claims to prevent infestation of destructive insects.
CO was initial site of CA metastasis…
The Cali shitbirds are largely concentrated in different portions of WY and MT. Jackson? Shitbird city. Kalispell? Same.
When I lived in Bozeman the infestation was starting. Since that was a quarter century ago I can’t speak to the conditions today.
If you move to some of the smaller towns, away from downhill ski areas, I still like the towns and the people.
Montana has Bozeman and Missoula. Not exactly red parts of the state.
That’s true about the rankings. It really changes things a lot how you weight them and what you care about.
Woo-hoo! Go Nevada!
I imagine it’s starkly different in Las Vegas/Reno than in the vast emptiness in which I dwell.
There’s a designated launchpad here for fireworks, open all year. Somebody had a good show going last night. There are a few Karens who complained, but everybody else says “The fireworks were here before you bought your house, so…that’s on you.”
Nice to see NH still holding the top spot.
NH slipped out of the top spot but is back in.
Yeah, was Florida before.
One of the funny things they complain about is Florida not having enough jurisdictions, but a lot of areas are unincorporated, at least where I’ve been looking, which sounds better than having one extra level of government to submit to.
You mean ‘pay taxes to’.
I liked much of Florida but the taxes…geez. Louisiana has the lowest property taxes in the Union and I want it to stay that way.
That’s part of it. Obviously this depends on your income and your home value, but Louisiana’s income tax rate would more than makeup for the difference in property taxes for me.

Short of bombing Pearl Harbor would the US go to war again, under the present administration and all the economic and social problems in today’s America.? Ten people aboard a Norwegian Cruise Line ship approaching New Orleans have tested positive for COVID-19, officials said Saturday night.
The Norwegian Breakaway had departed New Orleans on Nov. 28 and is due to return this weekend, the Louisiana Department of Health said in a news release. Over the past week, the ship made stops in Belize, Honduras and Mexico.
More than 3,200 people are on board the ship, officials said.
According to the statement, Norwegian “has been adhering to appropriate quarantine and isolation protocols as new cases and exposures have been identified aboard this vessel.”
Prior to disembarking in New Orleans, each person on board will be tested for the coronavirus. Anyone who tests positive will either go directly home or self-isolate in accommodations provided by the cruise line, officials said.
Officials did not release any information about the conditions of those who have contracted the virus.
It’s time to get serious. If we want to defeat this plague, we’re going to have to make some hard decisions.
“Anyone who tests positive will either go directly home”
On a plane?
I assumed that the “other accommodations” would be for the cruise line to put them up locally in NO until they test negative. Anybody who can reasonably get home by car could just drive off.
I could never understand the appeal of cruises.

I’m right there with you, grizzly. Being stuck on board one of those massive floating hotels with no option to cut it short and get out… no way.
Three bad ideas I had in my younger days:
Maybe take a cruise.
Maybe take a train vacation.
Maybe live in Philly.
I never did any of those.

Freedom of speech may make sense, in theory…
Good thing he didn’t show off a new SUV.
That’s officially been filed right next to that nutter that shot up the country concert incident from a few years ago.
How unseemly!
Right? He should already have ammo!
I’m generating a solo act, it is more prep work than I thought, but that’s why it’s preperation, I may go out in the next few weeks, yippee!
