Daylight savings time morning is worse than a hangover. Not sure if I’m going to have a beer for breakfast, but if I do I’ll have one more for dessert. Now I want fried chicken.
Tell me again how we have the most fair and serious elections. If my boss did that to me, my first dump would be on her desk.
What is the world coming to when future Army officers can’t blow off some steam on Spring Break without getting a fentanyl overdose.
Florida has all the time in the world to fight the culture wars, but they never got around to this? I’m not sure I support additional penalties besides the obvious civil liability for condo boards failing to undertake structural repairs in a timely manner, but surely, “we just kinda never got around to it” is lame.
Huh. I got nothin’ on this, except that damn. I still make Heaven’s Gate cult jokes and its been 25 years.
I need something to wakeup, how about a little crunchy modern century pop
Morning. I’m awake, sort of.
Good morning, Scruffy. Don’t rush the waking up. It’s overrated – and getting more so every day.

So much for 5/$25 shots.
Yes, I read about your evening.
I didn’t see anything about westernsloper’s evening. Did he say something about it on the zoomshit?
He’s thinking of OBE
It’s morning. Tres is drunk.
Guilty as charged.
But arent you both in Colorado or some shit ?
And it’s not morning to me, having been up all night. 0600h is my 1700.
NV and CO.
Eh, it’s all flyover country.
Missed it by that much
Ive been up all night at work, so your silly DST games have little effect on me. However, Im neurotic enough to look at a clock and say to myself “well, its (x) o’clock, but really in my head its still (x)-1 hour o’clock”.
I change all my settings except one: the truck’s dash clock stays on doG’s time.
I love everything mechanical and change my watch for every time zone change no matter how short the trip.
Early is the best part of the day. I’m often in the office by six and rather enjoy watching the deer and turkey in the edges of the fields along my commute.
I work 6-2:30, and like DST. I want the daylight after dinner.
no objection
nine holes after work when I can get it in
A woman at the country club bar having played all day talked about getting stung by a bee on the course. A guy asked “where did it happen?”
She said ,”right between the 1st and 2nd hole”
He replied, “well, your stance is too wide”.
I used to set the time on my truck dash clock right in between the two. I know generally what time it is, it ain’t blinking, so it’s all good. This drove the wife nuts.
Glad I’m not the only one who leaves the clock in his dash alone.
I didn’t even know it was DST day. Now I am pissed. Back to driving to work in the dark. It is depressing.
Cool sidebar, bro!
Morning all
I hate the DST.
The owl that played pincushion with my fingers got released yesterday near our house.
Hopefully he will leave my chickens alone, and go after the mice.
SO we at war with Iran? Cant keep up with the crazy.
US pays $2M a month to protect Pompeo, aide from Iran threat
The latest 60-day extensions will expire soon and the State Department, in conjunction with the Director of National Intelligence, must determine by March 16 if the protection should extended again, according to the report.
It probably costs another $10,000 a month in administration just to determine if the protection should be extended.
It shouldn’t be extended.
So, when’s the last time that the IRGC has carried out an operation in North America, successful or not? I suspect that the answer is ‘Never,’ but I’m willing to learn…
That guy in the video needs to put a shirt on.
LOL they wouldn’t sit still long enough for me to make that determination but I think you’re right.
DST is theft.
I’d like to just freeze it where it is now and quit changing.
Yesterday the sun came up “too early” but if we didn’t go changing back and forth, I’d just adapt my waking (and working) hours to match the daylight situation best. I’d probably become an earlier bird. No sweat, since I’m on Pacific time but mostly interact with time zones to my east.
My main strategy on working times is to avoid driving straight into the sunrise to Vegas in the morning and straight into sunset on my way back home. A floppy hat with an adjustable wire brim and a good pair of Raybans are my friends, as is a car that is my copilot.
This. I get up when I get up, time change or not. My wife hasn’t been to work at a given time in who knows how long, so it doesn’t really affect her. Just pick a time, or better yet, set it right in between to two we use now. It is all arbitrary anyway.

This.
I continue to lose drunkenly bid Grunbroker auctions. ?
Hi, early birds.
My bladder woke me up, but then I realized I also was struggling a bit to breathe. Pulse oximeter agreed that I need more oxygen so I just did a nebulizer treatment. It worked; ox is up to 94 now (from 89) but the side effect is a bit of the jitters from the medicine so I won’t be falling asleep anytime soon.
Saw a good band last night. Even Pahrump has its charms. Apparently the population is already up to 55k, expected to hit 100k by 2030.
I hope our little paradise can retain its character.

HVAC for mining equipment is very peculiar. First, the fan blades on the radiator often push the air forward and out instead of dragging it in….the idea is that it minimizes the amount of dirt that builds up in the fins.
And the air on some stays on recirc for the same reason….just goes round and round and uses a shit-ton of filters.
The mining tunnels where I work (Area U1a) do not have active AC; they just have ventilation. It gets cool enough in the winter to need a jacket down there but manages to stay pleasant enough in the summer (so I’m told). It’s 1000 feet down.
The main concern with air handling there is 1) what happens if a fire breaks out, and 2) what happens if there is an “incident” where materials are released that shouldn’t be breathed in by anybody. Neither have occurred, but the risks dictate policy.
Yeah, you’re nice and comfy pretty much at 20′ down.
Staying under the lower combustion limit is important if the strata contain combustible materials that become dust or if they release combustible gases.
I thought the 1st rule about “Area U1a” is that you do NOT talk about Area U1a.
All the clock shifting nonsense is just a perfect example of the immortality of government programs, no matter how useless, and overall powerlessness and lack of consent of the governed. I would be hard-pressed to find a single person anywhere who likes the clock changes; sure some people want permanent DST and some people want Standard time. The point though, is that people hate the retarded clock games more than they prefer one setting to another; I’d gladly take either if it just fucking stayed there. Despite that, we can’t seem to blast this absolutely absurd policy out with dynamite (daylight “savings”? even the name is retarded!). People have been trying and failing to get rid of DST in Colorado since 1988 (!) and there has been a bill in the StateLeg every year for the past 12 years that keeps getting killed in committee; some special interest shitstains grease a palm and away it goes. Fuck DST and fuck retarded, unnecessary, pointless manipulation by our corrupt overlords for no benefit whatsoever.

Slutty Sunday.
By keeping you busy with the bullshit stuff, they keep you in line.
perfect example
So many things are getting worse all the time, but, like market workarounds undermining regulation, so many trends from the virus years are doing the good work for us. Public schooling’s reputation as the core of the country is utterly destroyed; the move to private solutions will never be reversed, and, of course, you can open and close your private school a whatever hours will sell tuition.
Same for work and everything else. Most mid-management types and not a few professionals have long since made our own hours; we’ve all been up at 3 to get through security to catch that flight to eastern time and make a same-day meeting. Then we make our own days off or cut out/off early when it makes sense. People will continue to work the shifts that they want by choosing employment that offers same.
On the one hand, our neighbor sheep wore their masks, but it did occur to them: why can’t I buy bottles curb-side from my favorite bar after the virus is over?
The kids smoke what they want, fuck who they want, and see a lot of central control as stupid.
But, of course, guns remain bad in most states.
The biggest fan of DST who I know is also the most unhinged prog. It works for her, so it’s an unalloyed good.
I can always find rationalizations for pro/con DST. But since I largely dont give a shit, I just think “leave the sun & clock alone”.
We’ve been here for what? 100,00? 300,000 years as Homo Sapiens? How the hell did our ancestors get by w/o moving the clock every 6 months?
It’s stupid AF and doesn’t even accomplish its supposed goal. But like most “progressive” ideas, good luck ratcheting it back.
But they could move it back to sell more Halloween candy.
The reason it doesn’t end a week after the autumnal equinox is exactly because of Halloween – Big Candy knows they do better when there’s that little extra bit of light. I even remember back when it didn’t start until April, maybe around tax day – but bbq manufacturers and convenience stores wanted it earlier.
rhywun, tell your prog friend we do this nonsense because of business interests.
I thought we moved it because of Bush’s energy policy.
Oh, I wonder if that would work. I no longer talk to her but keep her on my feed as a bellwether for what low-information prog soccer moms think.
DST means that I can sometimes sneak out to shoot after work. I’m a fan.
Split the difference – fall back 1/2 hour this fall and then never change the clocks again.
Ok, so we’ll be off 30 minutes from the rest of the world – we also don’t use the metric system.
Not the whole world – India Standard Time is UTC+5:30
That’s a perfect summary.
I prefer SDT. But if someone came up to me and said we’re going to permanent DST, I’d fucking celebrate the end of spring forward and fall back.
Strategical update out of UKR. Seen a few good summaries lately and more vids but figure most of y’all aren’t too interested in seeing that stuff here.

Good links, LcDR. I was able to scroll down to about the 11th one before Twitter insisted (once again) that I download the app and create an account. Really don’t want to do that.
It’s good to read some at least somewhat objective facts and not all this nonsense virtue signaling about what colors have been projected onto what US buildings at night and what your social media avatars are.
Open the link in a private browser window. That shuts off the nagging popups. You can’t drill down into replies to replies, but at least you can follow the gist of a thread.
Also, if the URL contains a “?” character, delete that and everything that follows. The “s=20” tells twitter to limit your access to the site. Not sure whether it’s twenty seconds or twenty replies…
I heard you reading that in Paul Lynde’s voice, sitting in the center square. Only it was “Not sure whether it’s twenty seconds or twenty replies, or twenty dollars like downtown…”
I am the Paul Lynde of GlibZoom.
A mean drunk?
Clicking “Login” and then the back button also seems to work.
You all hear the news out of Iraq? US base got hit. Apparently by Iran.
Guess that is not important right now.
We still have bases in Iraq?
It would be shorter to list the countries where we didn’t have bases
Especially if you’re not on Twitter.

A good overview on Schwab, the WEF, and their origins.
TLDR: They’re the CIA’s Frankenstein’s monsters, along with a couple other notables from the Cold War era, and their original purpose was to keep Europe in line through consolidation and fear. Their partner operation is the CFR.

A dangerous collection of real world Bond villains if I’ve ever seen one.
I think as Americans it’s easier to discount their influence, but they are mainly directed at Europe. It’s a clearinghouse of sorts for up and coming politicians to keep them on the same agenda and minimize fracturing along national lines.
I see the point of it, but their methods are heinous. They use fear to control the masses. It used to be nuclear war with the Soviet Union, then they lost that and had to switch to climate change, then pandemics, and now they’ve come full circle back to nuclear war.
His take is that they’re out of ideas and freaking out over resistance to their agenda.
There’s resistance in Europe? I thought that when there is, it’s only the French wearing yellow vests and bitching about the lack of more free stuff.
Brexit was certainly not on their list of things to do.
Boris promised it’d be done by the end of January 2020, but that dastardly virus got him. True patriot e iz.
Careful, the wicked witch of the west, Theresa May will turn you into a toad she will.
I think that was just that pesky British dude, Nigel Farage. Right after it happened though, they quickly replaced Theresa May with the yellow haired male version of Therea May.
That unkempt braindead fuck is the worst thing to happen to the British Isles since the Romans had to withdraw in 410AD.
I only imagine they became a serious issue once the Soviet Union collapsed, that and the Iron Law of Bureaucracy.
Oh fuck, DST and Dr. Evul in the same day…

I’ve had bowel issues my whole life. One of the ways my mom tried to help me when I was a young child was to bake brownies with laxative type ingredients. Of course, I was the only one who was supposed to eat the brownies, but my oldest sister had a friend over one time who just thought it was very nice that my mom had some fresh baked brownies for her…
I hear you can replace the laxative with cannabis and the effect is the same. Let us know how it goes.
Good morning!
An ounce and a half of blow for $1k? I guess inflation isn’t quite hitting everything…
It’s tax-free. Which is what really pisses the DEA and Treasury off.
They’re making up for it with their tax on the $400 an ounce Devil’s Weed. I mean at least on the state level. Pretty sure the Congress will be right on that after they pass a couple of more trillion dollar pork fests and figure out how to bomb Ukraine back into the 6th century.
The Chinese knock-offs are always cheaper.
Seems like they’d at least cut it with something that had a similar effect like meth. The opiates aren’t really party drugs.
It gives you that quick rush of blow, but the long legs of smack.
People have been doing that for a long time. See Pryor, Richard.
Yeah, but the quality sucks.

But there’s another problem, Russian airlines don’t own most of their planes. About 80-percent of them are leased, mostly from Western leasing companies, which now appear unable to get their airplanes back.
“It’s over 500 aircraft currently operated by Russian airlines, which are leased from Western lessors,” Dimitroff said. “And so now that puts these lessors in a very tricky situation.”
Sanctions require the lessors to terminate their leases by March 28 and repossess their aircraft. In recent weeks, owners have been frantically trying to seize the few planes that were still flying to international destinations. But they’ve been unable to repossess all but a handful of those planes because they are being kept inside of Russia.
Dimitroff said it appears that the Putin government has “issued a mandate” that prohibits Russian airlines from returning planes to Western lessors “because these aircraft are strategically important to Russia,” he said.
Just tell the shareholders and people who hold your debt to be proud of their sacrifices in the name of DEMOCRACY! Joe and Janet will bail you eventually.
Yeah, they didn’t really think these sanctions through, did they? Visa and Mastercard, you just wiped out all that debt. Planes? Someone else owns them now. And so on.
“It’s a write off.”
Visa and Mastercard are effectively the TBTF banks. They will survive just fine.
They aren’t debt holders, they’re processors.
The issuing banks still hold the debt (or sell it off). This makes it harder for Russian businesses to sell internationally, cuts Russians out of being able to order online, and cuts easy international travel in both directions. This isn’t some few month thing, this will take years to overcome. And the disinvestment from Russia is returning to pre-Glasnost era, or really worse. Who will benefit? Crater the Russian economy and then swoop in at firesale prices? Like the early 90’s on steroids?
Seems like they’d at least cut it with something that had a similar effect like meth. The opiates aren’t really party drugs.
Speedball? It worked for Belushi.
Until it didn’t.
Boeing, Airbus and other western companies that manufacture planes and aircraft components, such as engine makers GE and Pratt and Whitney, have suspended supplying spare parts and no longer provide maintenance and technical support services, and that could soon make it difficult for Russian airlines to keep their airplanes flying.
“There’s been talk again of what they call cannibalizing other aircraft to support the flying active ones,” said Eddy Pieniazek, head of advisory for the London-based aviation analytics firm Ishka. “They might start robbing parts of some aircraft, maybe the leased aircraft, to keep their own aircraft flying.”
*sad face*
What’s Russian for juche?
It’s called “we’ll launder our goods through China making them even richer and more powerful in the process”.
Our leaders are the adults in the room.
West Point cadets get Spring Breaks? I thought that was down time to work off the demerits accumulated.
It wasn’t too long ago the lower ranking EM were smoking something, the NCOs had the club hours memorized and the officers hung around the golf course, lying to each other about the last war.
My. my, how things have changed.
[imagines Fourscore as Gen. Halftrack]
Some cadets have always been unruly while others were stainless. Lee never got a demerit at the Point. Grant broke the rules (once caught cooking a stolen turkey in his dorm). Custer came last in his class but went on to possibly save the Union at Gettysburg. Still debates on whether Grant or Lee turned out to be the better general.
Domestic terrorism
The bills considered this session were not all at the behest of DeSantis. House Republicans helped craft some of the proposals, including the legislation banning teaching about sexual orientation or gender identity in the lowest grades of elementary school.
But DeSantis has embraced the legislation, even engaging in full-throated denunciation of Disney this week after Bob Chapek, the CEO of the company, told shareholders he wanted to meet with the governor to discuss why the company was opposed to the bill headed to his desk.
“The chance that I am going to back down from my commitment to students, and back down from my commitment to parents rights simply because of fraudulent media narratives or pressure from woke corporations, the chances of that are zero,” DeSantis said in a campaign video released Friday.
GOP leaders for the past few weeks have blamed the media for the poor reception the proposals received and claimed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill was mischaracterized and misreported nationally.
The whole thing is just a bunch of whining about how Republicans are the cultural outliers fighting against a natural trend of perfectly reasonable and inevitable social awakening. The Democrats are just trying to keep up with the will of the people. Republicans want to put us back in chains.
And- if I were DeSantis, I’d get that idiot from Disney in front of the cameras, and ask him if he has personally read the bill, and offer him the opportunity to do a line by line analysis.
While I’d be opposed on principle, I would laugh if DeSantis got the legislature to push through a bill imposing special taxes on Disney resorts in Florida.
The MSM is really not used to someone not named Trump standing up to them and in a reasonably calm manner, are they.
Democrats and LGTBQ advocates, however, argue that the measure represents a broader attack on the LGTBQ community rooted in homophobia and transphobia. They say it will only further marginalize students, exposing them to bullying, and even push kids to suicide.
Misrepresent the text of the bill? Us?
Joe should send Kamala to Saudi Arabia to commend them on the efficiency of their justice system, and ask for some pointers.
If the Biden administration lined up a few dozen domestic terrorists in Redskins Stadium and lopped off their heads, it might dampen the enthusiasm of the rest of the malcontents.
While I’d be opposed on principle, I would laugh if DeSantis got the legislature to push through a bill imposing special taxes on Disney resorts in Florida.
Invent a crime, then work out a plea agreement in which they are directed to pay a fine directly to a private NGO charity dealing in the mental health treatment of gay youth.
This is the families side of the story about the State of Idaho taking their child away. State claims the baby was suffering from severe malnutrition and the parents didn’t take to hospital.

What’s this? Somebody is randomly shooting persons of homelessness in NYC?

Russia has said it will treat arms shipments to Ukraine from Nato countries as “legitimate targets” for military action in a dangerous new escalation of tensions.
The warning from the deputy foreign minister, Sergei Ryabkov, came as supporters of Ukraine, including the UK, Germany and the United States, have been urgently shipping thousands of anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles to Kyiv in response to Moscow’s aggression.
Ryabkov said that Russia had “warned the US that pumping weapons from a number of countries it orchestrates isn’t just a dangerous move, it’s an action that makes those convoys legitimate targets”.
No shit, Shirley.

The mask mandate may be over — but for many Oregonians, face coverings are here to stay.
——-
But not everyone is eager to rip off their face covering: Some recall the premature feelings of victory that led Oregon to rescind a previous mask mandate last summer amid surging COVID-19 case counts.
“Personally, I feel a little more comfortable wearing my mask, even though I know there are low transmission rates,” said Miranda Kerslake, who was strolling through the farmers market at Portland State University while her kindergartener chomped on an apple.
Kerslake, 35, remembered how she initially thought wearing a mask at her office would be burdensome. But she said masks just seem normal now.
“There are a lot of immunocompromised individuals in our community,” she said. “And that’s what’s driving us to continue (to mask).”
Like facial piercings and tattoos, masks will eventually evolve to a publicly broadcast warning of toxic mental instability, I guess.
It’s one of the cheapest way to signal your tribe. Luckily, their tribe is the weak, infirm and immunocompromised so they won’t be a threat in the future.
Just took a peek at my massive hydroponics operation here. 2 tomatoes, 3 lettuce, and no peppers, so far. I’m going big here, I guess I better get my roadside produce market set up in a hurry.
So, hipster farming.

Be patient, I’ll apply the Lysinkoism soone enough.
Yes, but at least I’m not brewing any hipster juice, yet…
While I generally think experimenting is good, who needs Szechuan Peppercorn and Chili Peppers Pilsener? ingredients Water, Malted Barley, Hops (Hallertau Mittelfrueh, Tettnanger), Yeast (WLP830), Szechuan Peppercorn Peppers (Jalapeño, Aji Amarillo, Chipotle, Pasilla).
these guys experiment to much.

I’ve had a jalapeno beer. Possibly the worst thing I’ve ever tasted.
If it’s anything like the local hipster juice, you just put it in a giant plasic mop bucket, pour in as much hops as possible, let the bitter swill ferment, put in bottles and slap different labels on the bottles, sell to hipsters for $10 a glass.
Ahem, can it. No one bottles their beer anymore. At least not the cool kids. Better to be in a thinwalled container that retains zero cold and a wide mouth opening so you can guzzle it without tasting.
I’ve sat at the bar and watched these hipsters drink their hipster juice. It takes them 3 hours to drink half of a single glass. And it’s not because they’re lightweights, it’s because it tastes like shit and they know it, while they sit there and talk about how great it is.
Juan Sanchez, who traveled from Hillsboro to visit Pioneer Courthouse Square with his younger brothers and sisters, said he and his siblings will continue to mask up to keep their family safe.
“Keep wearing the masks and keep protecting yourself,” said Sanchez, 18. “Get the vaccine.”
You’ll get a Young Pioneer merit badge for that, young Citizen Enforcer. Keep those boots polished to a mirror shine.

Camille Rey’s family is happy and thriving in their Maryland home just a year after leaving Texas out of fear.
“I just decided I can’t raise my child here,” said Rey.

Not anymore.
