Letters to the Editor

Being a family friendly site open to the public, Glibertarians.com receives emails and letters from time to time from regular people, just like you.

We thought a few of these should be shared:

We are writign on regard of infidel that thinks Office Manager Mohammad is funny.

It is not.

محاربو الإسلام الثوري  has sanctioned a bounty of 800 million American dollars for the head and heart of the infidel responsible for such an insult to The Prophet (may peace be upon his name).  Do not take this as an idol threat, as the Infidel pig-dog will be drawn and castrated in strict accordance to The Prophet’s teachings.

Whatever happened to that Ken Schultz fellow?  I enjoyed reading his rants every morning during Sloopy’s mourning lynx but why did he disappear?

[edited by Glib’s Staff for brevity]

His rants may have little to do with the article or links provided by the marvelous staff, or his constant disregard for the offer by Swiss Servator to actually make one of his rants a featured piece…

[edited by Glib’s Staff for brevity]

…but what he had to say was always short, simple, and always spot on with his assessment of current events and America’s declining culture.  I do not care for the constant bile from the commenters to his propensity to write pages of thoughts within a single paragraph, or the fact his thoughts are grammatically presented as a single sentence…

[edited by Glib’s Staff for brevity]

I simply don’t think your readership bore the intellectual fortitude for a man of ideas, such as his.

Sincerely,

Olden B. Foldencock

My question is for Sean:  did he ever bang that crazy Asian lady?

All of you motherfuckers need Satan.

Greetings and salutations,

My wife of ten years and I recently adopted a rescue dog.  We have no children and it seemed like the humane thing to do.  Little Caesar is an adult “Boxer mix” as is the case with all Pit Bull Terriers in rescues but he is quite friendly to everyone.

Except for me.  He is apprehensive around me for reasons I cannot understand.  I adopted him after all  when he jumped on my wife at the rescue and he stuck his wet snout in my wife’s face happily slobbering all over her to the tune of her infectious laugh.

But lately he’s been doing other things that are troubling.  Recently I woke up in the middle of the night and I could see the pale LED night light in his eyes reflecting back at me.  He slowly crawled up on to the bed, and sat down beside my wife, never unlocking his eyes with mine.

We have not copulated for several months since adopting Little Caesar.  We tried once but he distracted us by licking my wife’s foot. Its such a turn off when your wife begins laughing at you in the middle of being intimate.

I see her taking him to the dog park while I am working at home and getting excited whenever she wears leggings and barefoot shoes.  She never dressed like that before we adopted Little Caesar. She even remade herself by having her blonde hair cut into a cute boyish doo. After they return she lets him take a long nap on my spot on the couch.  He rests, stretching himself across her loins while locking his melon-colored eyes on me while she watches Big Bang Theory.  He yawns and gets bored of me now, gratified by my wife scratching behind his ears.  My cat would never betray me like this.

Little Caesar is taking her away from me.  I don’t know what to do.  I went to a pawn shop and nearly purchased a .22 caliber rifle but I thought better of it when he said there was a five day waiting period. I shook myself of the feeling but it keeps coming back.

I don’t know what to do, they both ignore me now and even the pawn shop owner asked me to stop coming back to look at the rifle.

    • Zwak,The Baddest Johnny on the Apple Cart

When I was in NYC a few weeks ago I used Uber a lot, and no one gave two shits about masks. I think they just want to stay ahead of the curve on this.

      • Urthona

I use it a bunch. The app made you agree to wear a mask but 90% of the time when they arrive they have no mask so you immediately take it off.

        Still there were some sticklers.

      • Gustave Lytton

Local government bus still has masks required on their front display.

My company sent out a reminder that compliance with mask diktats is mandatory. Fuck them.

      • Zwak,The Baddest Johnny on the Apple Cart

I was just at the doctors, which supposedly has a mask mandate, and wore in below my nose the whole time. No one batted an eye. It is on it’s way out.

      • ron73440

Last time in the VA hospital, when I went in the lady was insisting I need to wear one.

I wore it below my nose, as always, and in the exam room, my nurse said I could take it off and they no longer could require them..

I walked out without it, and the stupid bint who made me wear it when I went in asked, “Where’s your mask?”

I just said, “I quit wearing it”

She started to say something and the lady next to her told her not to worry about it, I was leaving anyway.

        I hate mask nazis.

      • ron73440

And for the record, I still had high blood pressure when they checked me.

Had to get an at home tester and do a video call so she could verify my claim that it was caused by the mask policy.

Took 3 tries to get 13X over 90X because I hyped myself up with how stupid this was.

When I take it on my own it is always 12X over 8X.

Have I mentioned I hate mask nazis?

      • Gustave Lytton

Pet pharmacy in Cowvallis had signs up and front desk tech was wearing one. Pharm tech in the back behind the glass wasn’t.

      • Zwak,The Baddest Johnny on the Apple Cart

I was in there the other day, they haven’t said word one to me about my not wearing a mask. And I always see the Asian guy quickly put one on before I come in. He is a cool guy though, and my guess is that Corvallis is so fucking left-wing he is afraid of reprisals.

      • Gustave Lytton

Oh awesome. First time I’ve been there, came straight from work still wearing a lettered shirt, and just wanted to get meds so didn’t bother. I’ll have to remember next time. Super nice guy answering my questions and got it done in twenty minutes from drop off (stupid controlled narcotics).

    • rhywun

Interesting that private enterprise is eager to ditch the theater while government entities are not.

      • Urthona

What I find interesting is that the CDC hasn’t changed its opinion.

So any claims they were following the CDC were lies.

They were following government threats of force.

      • db

They were following government threats of force.

When I flew commercial a few weeks ago, the staff onboard made a strong point that it was the US Government Mandate, not their preference, to require masks. A couple even said “the mask mandate is still in effect for now.”

      • Rat on a train

I’m sure that there are plenty of businesses that want to enforce masking, but don’t want to be the bad guys.

      • R C Dean

Oh, yeah. Whenever the local mask mandate is up for repeal/renewal, there’s a parade of business owners(?) (I wonder if they really are, or are just busybody activists) who support the mandate, pretty transparently because they know they will be at a disadvantage if they try to enforce it on their own. They want every business handicapped with a mandate so their business doesn’t suffer despite their neurotic obsessions.

      • rhywun

They’re probably outnumbered 10 to 1 one by businesses who are fed up with all of it – the “silent majority”, if you will.

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

      OMFG, that’s phenomenal.

Give that dude an Oscar, a Pulitzer, a Nobel…

    • Sensei

What was the original BS that this is supposed to be related to?

      • R C Dean

Taylor Lorenz, whose career is built on doxxing wrongthinkers on social media, crying on TV about all the “anti-woman” abuse she takes for being a leftist cunte on social media, and then going out two weeks later and doxxing a woman on social media, thus subjecting them to abuse.

For extra lefty horseshit, many of her buddies (including Megan McArdle) are defending the doxxing because the woman she doxxed is just a Jew, so whatevs.

      • R C Dean

Never mind. Thinking of the wrong Twitter kerfuffle.

As someone who is handicapped, I fucking hate people like that. No clue as to what is good for society is what is actually voted on BY SOCIETY! And that this is why we have protections (the amendments) to protect against the tyranny of the majority.

He should have written that his son said “Fweedom” when removing masks.

  7. creech

These are nothing like the letters sent to my local newspaper. All of those are about the GOP wanting to destroy democracy by making sure only qualified citizens vote, or how the GOP promotes white supremacy by being against CRT, or the GOP is homo/trans/womyn phobic because it doesn’t want to pay for 8 yr. old Jimmy to transition, or how Trumphitler has caused chaos within the GOP while everything is cumbuya in the Democrat party.

    • Tonio

You should see the ones that were too incoherent to publish…

      • Bobarian LMD

Cumbuya sounds like it would be something sticky.

      • JaimeRoberto (shama/lama/ding dong)

I thought Cumbuya was the name of a sperm bank.

      • WTF

        Wait ’til you see Cumbuyakakke.

    • juris imprudent

You want to see chaos – the Democrats getting bounced from power.

      • UnCivilServant

More than that, I want to see these “culture leaders” and race grifters swinging from lampposts. I want to see the rot burned out root and branch, and the ashes dunked in mount doom.

      • R C Dean

The Dems getting bounced from power will require cleaning the Augean stables of the federal bureaucracy. We are a very long way from that.

      • UnCivilServant

Not so much. One nuclear detonation would deal with the bulk of it.

      • R C Dean

Hmm. Maybe Musk’s “get your ass to Mars” schtick is just a misdirection. Maybe his space program is really all about getting ahold of a small asteroid and steering it to DC.

  12. Rebel Scum

Dems continue to be the party of the little guy.

The White House said Americans should pay higher taxes to ensure a rapid green transition away from fossil fuels in a report on President Joe Biden’s economic record.

The federal government can encourage such a shift through carbon taxes or a cap and trade system forcing an emissions limit on companies, said the Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) report released last week. The White House added that consumers would continue purchasing “artificially inexpensive, carbon-intensive goods” without proper government policies in place.

“Such carbon prices could be implemented directly via carbon taxes, indirectly through a cap on emissions and tradable permits, or through other similar policy tools,” the CEA said in the report. “Government revenues from the carbon price can be used to compensate consumers for increases in energy prices or to invest in other societal priorities.”

“Carbon prices are just one of many policy measures needed to cost-effectively accelerate the energy transition,” the CEA continued.

    • The Other Kevin

They must have come up with that idea while at a meeting where they all arrived on private jets.

      • Name's BEAM. James BEAM.

I’m sorry, why are they “artificially” inexpensive? And even if true, why would your mucking about to make them artificially expensive be a good thing? Both states of affairs represent a waste of societal resources.

      • Rat on a train

They are artificially inexpensive because they are priced below what they want them to be.

  15. Tundra
    • Yusef rides a Bike

      I don’t get it

      • Tundra

It’s ok. Taylor Lorenz (TMITE) is getting destroyed after she and the WP doxxed the proprietor of Libs of Tik Tok – a girl, mind you – and then harassed her relatives.

      • Not Adahn

Remember when the NYT went after HanAssholeSolo for having the temerity of creating a meme which was similar to one that OMB retweeted?

      • Urthona

Also it should be noted that all they do is share public postings made by crazy leftwingers.

      • R C Dean

Unexplained mystery: How retweeting two tweets leads to a ban, when neither of the tweets is banned.

      • UnCivilServant

      • Lackadaisical

        I thought they liked that?

      • Tundra

Yes, good point. Some dumb fuck, neck tatted teacher drops a video telling the world that he is grooming the shit out of his students, LoTT posts it and she is the bad actor.

  16. Fatty Bolger

Just got a weird offer from my electric utility. Apparently it’s some kind of solar power thing, where you don’t install panels yourself, you subscribe to a portion of the output of a solar energy plant. You get credits for the energy produced, but also pay a subscription fee (which is more than the credits). The credits go up over time, so eventually you get more in credits than you’re paying. They “anticipate” break even at about 5 years, and coming out ahead after 7. No guarantees, though!

I assume that some ridiculous tangle of various government regulations and subsidies makes such a scheme feasible.

    • UnCivilServant

Or a Ponzi scheme where they pay the early adopters from the subscription fees of the later arrivals.

      • db

That’s more like what I was thinking.

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

      Yeah, no.

I’m purchasing a system that grandfathers in a 1 for 1 electricity credit of power generated. I own the system, I don’t switch power companies, none of that bs. The programs like you’re being solicited for are fraught with problems.

      • Fatty Bolger

The utilities are countering this by raising the minimum monthly charge to stay on the grid, so if that’s important to you, assume that amount will be going up quite a bit. Also, at least in Florida, they are pushing to get rid of 1:1 credits, and only buy energy at wholesale prices.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

In Virginia it’s titled in legislatively, so once I’m in it’s unlikely it will be changed. And the grid connection fees are going up for everybody here. There’s no avoiding it.

    • l0b0t

It’s a pyramid scheme MLM time-share… just hush up and build your downline.

    • UnCivilServant

“How about instead of this solar garbage, we just build some more nuclear plants?”

    • Drake

Was recently driving past a giant corn field that was plowed under and converted to a solar field. Seems a bad idea as food prices spiking. Probably not what the old school conservationists had in mind.

      • UnCivilServant

Last one of those I saw, all of the solar panels were compltely buried under snow.

Wonder how much power that produced.

      • Drake

The one I used to drive by would get overgrown – then they would hit the field with herbicide to clear it – for the environment.

    • Dr. Fronkensteen

My village is doing something similar. As near as I can figure it out you’ll get some of your energy from renewables or are buying carbon credits to produce renewables elsewhere. The worst part about it is that it was done on an opt out basis.

    • Tonio

My utility did that too. I assumed it was a government cramdown. You could also “buy” organic, GMO-free power from hippies in Vermont, or somesuch. But it seems unlikey that any of that energy would actually make it to Virginia.

  17. Rebel Scum

    Seems legit.

Joe Biden’s decision to release 180 million barrels of oil from the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve – one million barrels per day for 180 days, ending just before the midterm elections which the Democrats will lose in an avalanche – was meant to help lower US gasoline prices “because Putin price hike.” Instead, it is heading for Europe.

According to Bloomberg, citing a person familiar with the matter, the Suezmax ship Advantage Spring – sailing for Rotterdam, according to ship-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg – received emergency SPR sweet crude from Energy Transfer’s Nederland oil facility around April 1 for export.

Can’t help but like those guys who are pretty casual about their own safety but pissed off about civilians being killed.

    • Fatty Bolger

The Azov forces seem effective, but I assume they’re going to be a real PITA for Ukraine after the war ends (win or lose).

      • R C Dean

If (really, I still think, when) Ukraine loses, its pretty likely the Azov guys will be liquidated by the Russians.

I think the best case scenario at this point is that when the Russians roll all the way to the Polish border, everybody keeps their dick in their pants and we don’t see this mess spread beyond Ukraine. I expect the Russian reprisals in Ukraine will be typically Russian, and will make Zelensky’s authoritarian gestures look like amateur hour.

      • Drake

As they surrender, I saw some picture where the Russians had them take off their shirts. The guys with no tats or normal military stuff went off to the POW camp. The guys with nazi tats went somewhere else.

      • ron73440

You know who else segregated people by tattoos?

      • Rat on a train

        That’s Ms O’Rourke now, bigot.

      • MikeS

        Satan?

      • Fatty Bolger

Seems unlikely at this point, with the Russians pulling back and regrouping in the East, though you never know. I suppose if they’re wildly successful in Donbas they might roll back in. But I doubt it.

      • Drake

They’ll just partition it up as they see fit and discard what they don’t want in the west.

      • R C Dean

If enough UA forces get mousetrapped in the East (and they may have missed their opportunity to avoid that), then once that kettle is boiled there may not be enough left to stop the Russians taking the whole country.

        Time will tell, of course.

      • Swiss Servator

The Euros and US are funneling in enough stuff to keep the meat grinder going. Will Russia wreck its military and economy for Eastern Ukraine? Remember, we are talking an Italy sized economy that is suffering. They can talk brave about selling oil to China and India – how do they get it there? With all the Western oil outfits leaving Russia, who fixes stuff? They going to never have a pipeline hit? Ships stopped?

      • R C Dean

They can talk brave about selling oil to China and India – how do they get it there?

I was surprised to read that (a) the big oil fields in Siberia are a very long way from the Chinese border and (b) there aren’t really any pipelines that go that way. I had assumed they could easily sell to the Chinese, but apparently not. I don’t know what kind of oil tanker shipping facilities are available to their main oil fields, but they could have a serious bottleneck getting their dinosaur juice to new markets.

      • Fatty Bolger

It’s a possibility, but a remote one IMO. Keep in mind that Ukraine and their supporters won’t just be sitting idly waiting for the Russians to come back. There will be preparations made and training of new troops, with new weaponry and funding flowing in from other countries (including us) while the fighting continues in the East.

    From NBC’s “Professor Pronoun” coverage

The Alliance Defending Freedom, a conservative Christian law firm based in Arizona, has a decadeslong track record of litigating against LGBTQ rights, and has been labeled an anti-LGBTQ “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center, a designation ADF disputes. According to its website, the group aims to secure “generational wins” to ensure that “the law respects God’s creative order for marriage, the family, and human sexuality.”

That’s some even-handed journalisming, boys and girls.

That cost is better spent on fulfilling Shawnee State’s mission of service to our students, families and community.”

No shit, Shirley? Something tells me the community as a whole was pretty openly dismissive of your so-called “discrimination free” zone and sanctimonious nonsense. How deeply grieved you must have been when you discovered your slam dunk case was about to get rammed right up your ass.

    DOOM awaits

Twitter’s board of directors should consider rejecting Elon Musk’s bid for the social media company because of the harm his ownership could have on users’ civil rights, said Marc Morial, president of the National Urban League.

In a letter Monday to Twitter Chairman Bret Taylor, Morial said Musk has “expressed concerning views” around content moderation and free speech that are counter to the principles “of creating an online community that is safe for marginalized communities and protects our democracy.”

Morial urged Twitter’s board to consult with the civil rights community before making a decision on Musk’s offer, and he asked to meet with Taylor to further discuss his concerns.

“Without key protections and safeguards, much of the concerning activities that we see on Twitter, including white supremacist propaganda, racial and religious hatred, voter suppression through election disinformation, algorithmic bias and discrimination, and the hardening of our national discourse are likely to proliferate under Musk’s ownership,” Morial wrote. “The potential to negatively impact millions directly and our nation’s culture and democracy indirectly are exponential and should be part of your analysis in reviewing this — or any other — offer of purchase.”

It sounds to me as if Twatter under any form of leadership is too grave a threat to DEMOCRACY! to be allowed to exist.

Shut it down, before it’s too late.

Heh. Speaking of remote work – the era is coming to a close. As of today and not later than 30 Sept, we are going to back to the office full time. It was nice while it lasted, and consequently, not having my personal PC next to my work PC – at some point you’ll be seeing a lot less of me.

      • UnCivilServant

Well, there are two data points from my workplace.

First, our permanant telecommute policy is due to be set by June 30, and I suspect a lot of the people making the decisions don’t want to be 100% in office.

Second, we’ve had consultants appologize for wasting our time when they find out we’re only at 50% remote.

taking out their own trash, picking up packages
Someone is supposed to do that for me?

      • Sensei

Well you DO pay for that service.

In New York, the average maintenance charge hovers around $1,500 a month — and remember, they need to be paid in addition to any mortgage payment you may have.

        And this is from 2016.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

        $1500?

        That’s bonkers.

      • Semi-Spartan Dad

Any idea on the average number of units? Paying a doorman $80k in combined salary/benefits seems like nothing for a 40 unit building in NYC (~$160/month). Even tripling that for 3 doormen to have 24 hour service or halving the units to 20 still doesn’t seem like much for NYC.

      • Sensei

No idea. It’s also going to vary across each of the boroughs as well.

Manhattan will have the highest density. So larger buildings will have multiple doormen on each shift 24/7.

I’ve intentionally never looked into habitational real estate in NYC.
