This beefcake kangaroos name is, “Warty”.

Howdy, Glibs! Now that I’m back from gallivanting abroad(not as a broad), I’m ready to provide some hopping good links.

Remember when being a pilot was considered a cool job?

I’m starting to like this kid.

Propaganda, but the dude does not look well.

He’s the super hero we all need right now.

For the ladies.

Okay, time for me to jump on out of here.

    Welcome back Spud!

Cawthorn is almost certainly a grifter like all the others, but that’s hilarious.

And I’ll take Musk over almost every other billionaire who shows their face in public. Tell me again why anyone should GAF what Gates thinks?

I’ll go off-topic from the jump – have people linked to Khruangbin before? Because that is just spectacular.

    • Spudalicious

Cawthorn is in his mid 20s. I take everything with a grain of salt, and the old Team Red codgers are jealous.

      • Gustave Lytton

Way too many geriatrics, but he’s still too young to be a congressman.

      • juris imprudent

Wasn’t that literally true – that he was elected before he was Constitutionally eligible to serve (though his birthday did arrive before he was sworn in).

      • TARDis

Agreed. Times have changed. The Constitution needs to be changed… legally.

    • SDF-7

I’m definitely still rooting for Elon to make it to Mars. Even making it to where SpaceX is a regular to high orbit and taking along some tungsten rods might make the conversations with Terrestrial governments… interesting…

      • Yusef rides a Bike

        I like your thinking Sir!
        /Rods from Elon

    • Zwak,The Baddest Johnny on the Apple Cart

Both K. Swell and I are big fans of Khruangbin. Awesome stuff.

      • KSuellington

        Yup, dig ‘em. Groovy tunes.

  2. Gustave Lytton

The short position is apparently confirmed and Gates still has it. $500M on Tesla. Posted it late in the last thread. Would really be curious when Gates took that position, before or after the Twitter news.

    • Chafed

I’m not aware of Gates making any fantastic investments since leaving Microsoft. Have I missed something?

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

A couple million acres of farmland

    • slumbrew

Ol’ Putin is gotta be shaking over that.

    • dbleagle

“Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah! It is VR Day! Let church bells ring throughout the land! The Russian bear has been sent back to the woods.”

“Just a second I have been handed a note.”

“Ladies and gentlemen. I have been informed by Q that Putin is not a breast man and that his attacks upon Ukraine continue. I can only wonder why this French protest failed. The Ukrainian Defense Forces should surrender now.”

    • Fourscore

Nice to see the French ladies have discovered using a razor.

Old school was not that attractive.

      • TARDis

Finally. Sixty years of European occupation has had an effect.
Old joke: What’s the first present an American serviceman gives his German girlfriend?
        A razor.

Truth is, I never minded fuzzy pits. The Black Forest legs however….

  3. Nephilium

I’m back from travels (definitely not with Spud or as a broad), and home. So I’ll be kicking off the Virtual Happy Hour/Zoom/Article Wrangling tonight at 20:00 Eastern.

  4. The Late P Brooks

The lowbrow joke could further infuriate woke Twitter staffers angered by Musk’s ongoing bid to buy the firm after saying he’d take a hardline stance supporting free speech.

It would be a terrible shame if they all dies of apoplexy.

  5. Gustave Lytton

Re Putin health rumors. Now do Biden, you lazy MSM fucks.

    • juris imprudent

I had a dream last night that Biden had died. Disappointed to find out this morning it was only a dream.

      • Old Man With Candy

        President Harris. No.

      • Chafed

Don’t worry. Pelosi is third in line.

      • dontreadonme

        You no like humor?

  6. The Late P Brooks

Looking at the photo; maybe Putin is just trying to restrain himself from diving across the table and strangling that guy.

    • rhywun

I’m not seeing the “bloated face and neck” but OMG THE SLOUCHING! We’ve got him now.

  7. Sean

I got to the range today. Did I take the new hotness? Nope. The second newest? Nope.

    I took the 3rd, 4th, and 5th newest.

The good news is that the basic bitch AR is now sighted in and function tested and the Glock slide I assembled works just fine.

    • Not Adahn

Had the first USPSA match of the season. I need serious range time, my trigger pull at speed has gone to shit.

Also, my club is only doing 1 match/month, which is bullshit.

There is a second club shooting it that’s only 30 mins away, I may have to start going there.

  8. Gustave Lytton

Weather is nice but I’m sleepy and lazy today. Should be out doing yard stuff.

    • Fourscore

Finally warmed up enough to do a little cleaning up in the garage. Started thinking about getting the garden equipment ready to roll. Nic to be outside again.

      • Semi-Spartan Dad

Started thinking about getting the garden equipment ready to roll.

That’s what I did today. Ended up plowing, fertilizing, and liming the garden so we can finally get plants in. The tractor makes it easy, but I’m still learning how to best get implements on and off the 3 point hitch. My previous way of using a pry bar and cussing hasn’t worked so well. Blaster and an adjustable wrench is looking like the ticket.

I’ve had bronchitis for several days and that hasn’t been fun. Hired out some help today to repair rotten wood and ripped tin on the barn roof and that was well worth it.

It’s nice to see Spring on the farm. The bottle calve heifers are now dog tame and about ready to join the herd in the pasture. Bottle goat also thinks he’s a dog, but will hanging around for the yard for awhile. Looking forward to a shipment of Bourbon Reds and Toulouse geese coming next week.

      • Ted S.

Who isn’t looking forward to a shipment of bourbon?

      • Fourscore

As a kid I had an orphan lamb that thought the dog was his mother. They sort of played together, the lamb followed the dog around. The lamb quickly learned to drink warm cow’s milk out of a bottle with a big rubber nipple on it.

      • dontreadonme

I am so far behind this year due to a move and renovations at the new and old house we want to rent so I am finally going to get corn in the ground tomorrow. I never want heifers again. Bunch of teenage girls always trying to sneak out of the pasture. Now goats I will keep raising until the end. They never fail to make me laugh with their constant antics.

    • Nephilium

I have some yard work I should do, but instead I went for a bike ride, and am now having a twist on a Tom Collins.

Tomorrow, I could do it, but I’m planning on a bike ride and brunch first.

  9. The Late P Brooks

    An expert in body language.

    Where did I go wrong?

    • Sean

      Probably in your teen years.

    • Not Adahn

Batman is dead? Oh wait, Bruce Wynn.

Registered to vote with no political party affiliation, Bruce was involved in ‘yoga with horses.’

  10. Gustave Lytton

Omicron XE? Now they’re sounding like software releases. Cmon, pull the other finger.

    • Sean

Does this model have upgraded seats?

    • rhywun

At least we skipped Omicron Me.

      • Ted S.

        I remember Omicron Bob.

      • Gustave Lytton

Did Melinda get that as part of her divorce settlement?

      • Chafed

Bill went to Pedo Island so she probably got more than that.

Propaganda, but the dude does not look well.

Can you imagine the fun their propaganda is having with Biden? And without reaching like this one.

    • R C Dean

He definitely looks bloated to me, and he’s holding himself like he’s in pain. Who knows, though.

      • Ted S.

Look at the guy who works in a hospital thinking he’s a doctor. :-p

      • Spudalicious

If you know what to look for, he does not look well. Especially compared to just a couple of years ago. He and Biden are in a race to the grave.

  14. mikey

You think Qanon is scary? Things are getting worse – now there’s – Dark MAGA.
No sure what that is? This explains it:
“ Dark MAGA is a post-alt-right online aesthetic movement based around a hardening of the pro-Trump online space, a repudiation of optics-conscious organising that delights in and celebrates violence and the terror that fascist organising might inspire. Like the Alt-Right from which it originates, Dark MAGA has ties to misogyny and trolling and has already seen early amplification among conservative influencers. Dark MAGA thereby provides openings for bad actors, creating multiple fronts for entryism and networking among a broad swathe of violent extremist actors.”
If that doesn’t frighten you, nothing will.

I guess we know what the FBI has been up to on nights and weekends.

    • one true athena

yeah, I’ll stick that right next to the PSA I heard today about some tragic 22-year-old who had covid in Nov and in January developed “long covid”. How tf does that even work, a month or two later?

I want to know if this person is even real because at this point, I have doubts.

      • R.J.

I got “Long mononucleosis “ in my teen years. Immune system went wild post infection. Took about 2 years to stabilize. Some viruses can do that to some people.

      • Gustave Lytton

Same with influenza sometimes. Or recovering from a serious bout of pneumonia.

      • one true athena

hm, ok. My impression with ‘long covid’ before this was that the symptoms would keep lingering, not that there was a recovery then it comes back. But humans are weird. I still object to them fearmongering with it though.

    • Ghostpatzer

That is wonderful, but this link from the article is truly inspiring.

      https://ctc.westpoint.edu/the-iron-march-forum-and-the-evolution-of-the-skull-mask-neo-fascist-network/

The network’s transition from activism to terrorism was facilitated by the introduction of violent ritualistic initiation practices derived from the writings of the Order of Nine Angles, which helped to habituate members to violence as well as to create a sense of shared membership in a militant elite.

Wouldn’t a far right group be the order of 90° Angles?

      • juris imprudent

Meh, what were the Saxons – chopped liver?

      • Ted S.

        More like Leberkäs.

      • Gustave Lytton

A hardcore group of angles? That’s so acute!

      • mikey

Pretty impressive. Goes on for pages describing any number of groups. I see nothing about any of them DOING anything.
Also, noticed a new word in both articles “accelerationist”. Guess they’ve infiltrated drag racing now.

  15. R.J.

It’s a beautiful night in Texas. Backyard looks like Better Homes and Gardens. I have a cigar and whiskey. Magnificent.

    • R.J.

Mother Nature just dropped some extra protein in my whiskey. As if she knew I needed a snack.

      • Ownbestenemy

And I get accused of phrasing.

  16. The Late P Brooks

Mother Nature just dropped some extra protein in my whiskey.

      • Plinker762

        Spanish?

      • R.J.

Haha. Only if the Tall Thin Spaniard what Lurks is over. Sadly we are remote watching movies tonight. He has some G2 cigars that are awesome.

      • Sean

        Yeah baby!

I’ve seen lots of US small college sweatshirts on many current female Japanese singers.

Last one I saw was an AKB48 video.

      • Gustave Lytton

I’m curious how the USC and Tennessee cheerleader squads ended up together at the same time. There’s got to be a backstory to that.

    • mikey

Heh. Didn’t know they were still around. They were the std tool in many old Brit car factory-supplied tool kits. Still have the scar from the using original jack on the Healey. The dents on the frame from the jack are also still there. Originals go for a pretty pence as most got chucked out for Craftsman or something else decent.

    • R.J.

      • rhywun

That sounds like Quiznos. I liked them.

        Never heard of “Rax”.

      • Chafed

Whoops. I usually click the links. I just assumed it was about Quiznos.

      • rhywun

      • Homple

      I had forgotten he retired.

      • cavalier973

Now he goes to his own planet to populate with his spirit wife.

I am not LDS, but an interesting aspect of their teachings is that everybody goes to some sort of heaven. Even people who go to hell get a chance to escape and go to heaven. Only members of the church in good standing get the “best” heaven—your own planet.

      • Plinker762

        or Heaven even

  21. KSuellington

Great Formula 1 sprint race today in Italy. I’m really digging the format. They introduced it last year and it happens several times a season. They do a regular qualifying session to determine grid order for the sprint, which is a shorter race (about a third of the laps of a Grand Prix) that gives both championship points and determines the grid order for the GP. The Italian Imola GP should be a good race tomorrow. It is the track where the great Ayrton Senna met his end, back when it was known as the San Marino GP. The new formula for the cars has made for some excellent races so far this season and shaken things up quite a bit.

    • Chafed

I imagine slumbrew is happy too.

      • KSuellington

Yeah, I’m sure slum will be tuned in. I’d never imagined I would get so into an auto racing sport. As a kid I liked the spectacle of he Monaco GP, but never really followed the sport until a few years back. I just really dig the different tracks and the strategies that they have to vary by location. Especially when the woke virus took hold in sports, it avoided most of it.

      • slumbrew

        Yep, I’ll be watching/ rowing!

Like you I’m surprised I’m so into auto racing.

The sprint was great – I’m really digging the format.

Psyched to see K-Mag pull out a point there and just a masterful recovery from a bad start by Verstappen.

      • KSuellington

The Haas turnaround has been great to watch, and I’m also a K Mag fan so it’s good to see him back in the sport and doing well. I’m really surprised about Mercedes not being in competition this year, thought they would have the car dialed in by now. And yeah, yesterday was an example of why I dig Verstappen, just a fantastic driver that knows when to make the move. Enjoy the race and the row!

  22. grrizzly

I’ve already booked a day trip to Stonehenge/Salisbury from London. I still want to visit Bath, Brighton and Cambridge. The train tickets are pricey and they want you to book them in advance. And the private UK railroads’ websites refuse to accept payment if you don’t have a UK billing address and phone number. Third-party websites save the day… for a fee.

    • cavalier973

I always wanted to go to the United Kingdom.

I haven’t been following your travel posts. I assume you visited the Tower, took the Jack the Ripper tour, and all that?

      • grrizzly

Yeah, I spent more than a week vacationing in London several years ago. I visited most of the must-sees.

    • Gustave Lytton

Stonehenge was surprisingly impressive. Haven’t been since they built the new facilities though.

Tony Robinson did the safety brief video for the MOD for SPTA.

      • grrizzly

I don’t expect much. Far from the stones, a 40-minute walk from the new visitor center if you don’t take the shuttle. But I should have plenty of time to look at the Magna Carta in Salisbury.

      • Gustave Lytton

Holy cow. I knew the new one was further away, but wow.

      • Gustave Lytton

Still not as pretentious as Donovan’s Atlantis.

But we’re in the eleventieth wave! Why do you hate children?

      • Ted S.

I didn’t think we got past Seven.

Frankly, I think those of us who oppose the coronapanic measures should be much more forthright about saying the people implementing them actively hate the children. Mind-fucking the children into believing they’re disease vectors who could kill their grandparents by doing the littlest wrong thing is almost as bad as brainwashing them to believe they were sexually molested the way that Scott Harshbarger and Martha Coakley (among others) did.

    • Ted S.

      Because fuck you, that’s why.

  29. Gender Traitor

Good morning, 4(20), Sean, Tundy & homey!

Another beautiful morning at Tranquility Base! Sunshine, birdies, hot chai latte, early morning Glibs, AND choral music on the satellite radio! This follows last night’s happy andouille-nee roast.

For reading for the moment, I downloaded Alison Weir’s The Wars of the Roses from the library, and the current musical selection on “Vox Choral” is “Five Tudor Portraits.” Serendipity!

    • Tulip

      I enjoy Alison Weir’s books.

      • Gender Traitor

Good morning, Tulip! As a kid, I became intrigued by a Masterpiece Theatre production of The Six Wives of Henry VIII and read what I could get my hands on about them. I figured it was high time I learned more of the back story.

  30. Not Adahn

I got an Amazon delivery at 6:54 am. Huh.

    • Fourscore

What? Today? Jeffy is up early, needs to run up the stock value in case Elon is still chasing.

      • Sean

Amazon was delivering to my neighborhood on Easter.

    • Scruffy Nerfherder

Amazon has screwed me on two separate orders lately. They miss the delivery time window for my business, sit on it for two weeks in their distribution hub, and then refund me because “I returned the order.”

I’m getting close to being done with them.
