HERE FOR ADVICINGS!

SEA SMITH HAPPY BE HERE. HE HAVE STURGEON IN POCKET TOO. HAHAHAHA! HE DECIDE HELP COUSIN STEVE SMITH GIVE ADVICE TO FUNNY GLIBERTARIAN LAND HOOMANS. HE DECIDE GIVE BETTER ADVICE THAN MISS MANNERS. HER NOT GOOD AS SEA SMITH AT ADVICESES.

Q: I’ve been living life for other people for the last 20-something years. I’ve decided to take a risk and sell everything to move to a bigger city. I’ve always taken care of my family and friends, but I’m doing this for me.

While I do have friends and support in the new city, I haven’t told anyone here. Am I required to let my family and friends here know I am moving? I know if I tell them, they will convince me to stay. What should I do?
.

A: YOU VERY SILLY HOOMAN. YOU GO ALREADY IN NEW PLACE! HOW THEM CONVINCE YOU STAY IN PLACE YOU NO LIVE? TELL THEM “HI SUCKAS! I GHOSTED…LIVE IN NEW CITY NOW. BYE.”

COME ON IN, WATER IS FINE!

STEVE SMITH LIKE TRIBUTE STATUE!

STEVE SMITH ALSO HAPPY SEE FUNNY GLIBERTARIANS. HIM GIVE GOODEST ADVICES. HIM MUCH BETTER THAN “DEAR ABBY” HOOMAN. SEE WHAT STEVE SMITH MEAN:

Q: I took a DNA test seven months ago. It came back that the man who raised me is not my biological father. My heart dropped, but I decided to meet my real dad. We have formed a relationship, mostly a good one, and I introduce him as my dad now. My problem is, we hardly know each other or how we react to things.

I had a hard week. My older sister was very rude to me, I had many college exams to take, and my best friend unexpectedly announced she had to go away for six months. I just wanted to run “home,” but then I realized I no longer have a home to run to. My dad doesn’t know I’m very clingy when I’m upset, so he was oblivious to my constant communications, and I’m sure it came off as annoying.

My mother and I don’t get along these days because she hid this secret from me for 25 years. Also, I mostly just wanted to go over to his house because my three little siblings are there, and I actually feel like we’re a family. What do you think, Abby? Am I too clingy? Is it understandable? How do I explain to him that I need to see them more? If he tells me no, how do I handle that?

A: YOU VERY SILLY. NO BE SO CLINGY AND WHINY! YOU ALSO NO GRATEFUL TO MAN WHO RAISE YOU?! STEVE SMITH THINK YOU NEED ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT. STEVE SMITH HAVE JUST THING FOR YOU…

I used to be rather ambivalent about abortion, but then I became impregnated with The First That Will change Everything. I knew the proud feeling of what it would be like to be a Man-Mom as I carried The First to term. It still grows and gestates, but if given to a lesser Firster, who knows? The hope for all humanity could have been lost.

    • hayeksplosives

I can hardly wait for the gender reveal party.

Will it be an asparagus poopy? A corn poopy??

      Inquiring minds want to know.

      • rhywun

Lemme tell you about Corn Poop, man…

      • hayeksplosives

        He was a bad doodie…

      • C. Anacreon

        He lived in a dump.

  2. SDF-7

I’m with Steve Smith on the second one — shut out Mom and Man-Who-Raised-You over the secret and start calling the sperm donor “Dad”… and then bewail that he doesn’t know crap about her?

There’s your bed, sweetheart — go lie in it. Maybe next time consider the man who was actually there for you and raised you just a little.

    • Not Adahn

And she’s (at least) 25? And breaking down because her sister was rude during finals?

      • MikeS

Yeah, that “my sister was rude” line is very telling.

    • Grumbletarian

It seems to me that neither biological parent gave the girl a spine.

  3. hayeksplosives

I ordered a Smith and Wesson 642 today (a 38 special). The only question in my mind was the type of grip to get. They had a couple of rubber grips in stock but I chose to order a wooden grip. I like the feel of that gun.

Plus it was fun to check out the range on premises.
I’m going to try it as a guest once and then see if I can want to join for the year.

…and of course, I did an impulse buy and bought a tiny Ruger 22 LCP. So cute!!

Picking them up next week. 💕❤️

    • hayeksplosives

(Should mention: 2NdAmendment in Pahrump NV. )

Open carry is fine here but I am thinking about the CCW option later this year.

      • Urthona

I don’t think you need to wear them counter clockwise.

      • hayeksplosives

        Lol.

DONT TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!

      • Ted S.

I was wondering what the 2 Neodymium Amendment is.

      • hayeksplosives

We should get a grant and write a research paper!!!

At the very least it would cause the Chinese to waste a bunch of money chasing us, like with the railgun.

      • hayeksplosives

I was super unclear. The website of the joint is 2ndamendmentguns.com.

      • C. Anacreon

If that don’t teach them a lesson
You can show them your Smith & Wesson
Don’t make me say it again
        Head knocker, head knocker

    • Draw Me Like One of Your Tulpae, Jack

NICE! I need to find a range here in WNC/WSC. I don’t think there are any of the climate controlled variety.

      • hayeksplosives

The staff made a specific point of the air conditioning in the range. When it’s >100, I suppose it matters.

For the die-hards, there’s always Pahrump’s Front Site range, with its boot-camp full experience multi day training. I know a few of our Glibs have done it. Hats off to you.

      • Draw Me Like One of Your Tulpae, Jack

Oh, no – I want the climate control. I just don’t think there are any around here.

    • Drake

My sister has the .22 LCP. It is very finicky about the type of ammo it’s fed.

I have the LCP Max and like it a lot although the sights took some getting used to.

      • hayeksplosives

Good tip on the ammo! I will research.

      • Scruffy Nerfherder

CCI is reliable for semi auto 22s

        Avoid Aguila

    • mock-star

I usually carry a 637 which is pretty much the same thing as the 642, but with an exposed hammer. I like (and use) the crimson trace grips. I also replaced the springs with ones from Wilson Combat. That made a tremendous difference in my double action groupings. I hope this helps you in any way.

Here is a link to the ones I use:
      https://www.crimsontrace.com/products/laser-sights/lasergrips/lg-350-lasergrips-for-smith-wesson-j-frame-round-butt/01-4600.html#prefn1=manufacturerCompatibility&prefv1=Smith%20&start=1

      • Sean

I’ve got the pc one too. Tis nice.

    • EvilSheldon

Ruger LCPs can be finicky about ammo, but I love them. I have an LCP II Lite Rack model that I use for deep concealment in non-permissive environments, and also as a backpacking gun when I want something really light. They’re insanely accurate for such little guns, and very easy to shoot.

Greg Ellifritz has a couple of LCPs, and goes into some detail on them here:

      https://www.activeresponsetraining.net/initial-impressions-22-ruger-lcp-ii
      https://www.activeresponsetraining.net/my-thoughts-on-the-ruger-lcp-22-pistol

I use CCI Velocitor or Eley Force .22LR ammo.

Sorry about this: I have a pretty big OT comment. Just wrote it today. It may have changed things for me. I’m actually rather shocked. It’s like a full google doc page long. Don’t really want to cloud up the thread. But it’s immediate enough that I just want to get it on the page and see what folk think. Might be wise to post it some morning when it’s easier to talk with y’all. I had some things to take care of.

Thoughts? I…was thinking of just copy-pasting it here. Don’t wanna do anything silly, but full disclosure that this is a personal/medical/traumatic thing. I am actually BETTER THAN EVER (within reason) right now. I had a scary spell and…and miraculous recovery, at least for the time, and it’s utterly shocking me, something that predictably shouldn’t be at all shocking.

Ev. Stop typing. Sigh. You’re making it worse!

  5. Mojeaux

Mr. Mojeaux and I are moving XY to Sioux Falls. De Smet, home of teenage Laura Ingalls Wilder, is only 1.5 hours away, so we are going to make a weekend of it and be touristy gawker fanpeeps. Hotel rooms are booked. Even the cheapo rooms are not cheap, even in a backwater like De Smet.

    • Chafed

What’s going on? I thought she was happily employed driving a forklift at Walmart.

      • Gender Traitor

        ::whispers:: That’s XX. 😉

      • Mojeaux

Hey, you want I should get you a tchotchke or recipe book or sumpin?

      • Gender Traitor

Ooh! In Ingallsland, USA?? A recipe book would probably be wasted on me, but some tiny trinket would be nice if you happen to see something cute and appropriately evocative of the series! (A little sunbonnet charm comes to mind, but I’m easy!) Thanks! 😃

      • Mojeaux

I will see if I can find something like that. 🙂

      • Gender Traitor

::thinks about own propensity to burn and suddenly wishes sunbonnets were in style::

whiz bested Sean by one point for this round’s championship. For the life of me I can’t remember who won last tourney. Give me a break, it was seven days ago. He’ll play that person tomorrow, assuming it wasn’t him.

    Today’s average was a nice 22.8, giving us a sub-30 average for the week of 25.8. Nice job, folks. The T-line split wasn’t so hot today; 9/11. Quordlemetrics was 0 1 5 5 (2). I don’t give a shit about Scrabble.
Sean keeps on rolling with his no-chump streak at 70. The dude’s a fucking beast. If he ever falters, there are a few with nice streaks of their own waiting to take the top spot: whiz: 44, one true athena: 35, and Tundra at 33. And there’s a few more in the 20’s.

One last thing of note: we saw two impressive scores of 14 and 15 from SDF-7 and robc, respectively.

It’s raining here. How about some songs about rain?

      • robc

        Just now, see below

      • whiz

This round went off like a women’s NCAA basketball tournament: the higher seeds did rather well. Only one 2-digit seed made the quarter-finals, the top 4 seeds were in the semis, and the final was #1 vs. #3, with #1 winning.

    • Sean

      Congrats to Whiz.

  8. The Late P Brooks

I’m going to throw over the man who raised me and was there for me for some stranger, based on a “DNA test”.

    Adios, dummy.

    • hayeksplosives

      Right?!?

On a semi-related note, I’ve been enjoying some standup comedy by Mike E. Winfield about marrying an older woman and thus being a stepdad to someone close to his age. He calls the kid “Stepman”.

      It’s pretty funny shit.

      • Chafed

        That’s good.

  9. rhywun

    Hm… Hannity or Charlie’s Angels?

    • MikeS

      🤨

      • rhywun

Current year is giving me a much greater appreciation for dumb, escapist television and it doesn’t get much more that than Charlie’s Angels. We didn’t watch that in my house so I haven’t seen any of these. It’s wonderfully silly fun.

      • Sensei

Funny, I tried to rewatch them and failed to find them interesting the second time around.

      • MikeS

No, my confusion was how Hannity could be an option.

      • rhywun

Oh. I was watching Tucker and I’m lazy. Sue me.

      • Chafed

C’mon man! There is never a reason to watch Hannity.

      • rhywun

I know. I was just funnin’.

      • Chafed

Whew. Just a reminder, every time is a good time to watch B5.

      • KSuellington

Indeed. I ended up buying the entire series on DVD of both Magnum PI and Miami Vice for exactly that reason. I’ll say after rewatching a bunch of both that they were two of the best tv series ever put out. Charlie’s Angels sounds like a good choice.

      • UnCivilServant

I’m still of the mind that the end of Magnum PI makes no sense. If you’re trying to serve as a parental figure, who take a job that would result in being absent for months on end?

      • MikeS

        You’re thinking a different show.

      • UnCivilServant

I was trying to avoid spoilers, but I’m pretty sure Magnum rejoining the Navy makes it harder for him to be a single father to his recently recovered daughter.

      • MikeS

Apparently I didn’t watch the show until the end. According to Wikipedia he went back into Naval Intelligence. One would presume it was a desk job?

      • UnCivilServant

I don’t recall if they said exactly what role it was. It’s been a while. I just recall it didn’t seem like a workable circumstance.

      • MikeS

It also said he did it to protect her, so maybe that took precedent over raising her? KSue will have to write up a post about it when he gets to the end.

    • Trigger Hippie

      • rhywun

        I don’t get Comet.

      • Trigger Hippie

        Bummer.

      • rhywun

        I’ll be damned!

Now to find a way to cast it to my TV.

      • Drake

I watch it sometimes. The early seasons had great writing. Went way downhill towards the end.

Japanese worker loses USB with entire city’s data after night out with colleagues

Best part is this happens to be the city one of my Japanese friends lives in. It is wonderfully stereotypically Japanese salaryman.

The USB contained the home addresses and bank account details of every one of the 460,000 residents of Amagasaki, officials in the small industrial city in Japan’s Hyogo prefecture said in a statement Thursday. It also identified households receiving public assistance, they said.

Takeuchi said the man “was in possession of his bag when he left the restaurant,” but then he “fell asleep on the street.” He woke up at 3 a.m. and went home before calling work six hours later to inform them he was taking the day off, Takeuchi added.

    • rhywun

he “fell asleep on the street.”

I mean, who doesn’t do that once in a while?!

      • Sensei

It’s not that uncommon in major cities.

There is like a three hour period where trains don’t run and the drunks basically park themselves until the trains start running again.

And its Japan – low violent crime. Mind you I don’t think many women will do this alone. There is still lots of unreported sexual assault and a stigma about reporting it.

    • MikeS

The USB contained the home addresses and bank account details of every one of the 460,000 residents of Amagasaki

On the business shows earlier this afternoon, there was a parade of CEOs announcing that their company would pay for pregnant employees (women, I presume) to travel to another state where “abortion isn’t banned.” Of course, the hosts were sucking this up as a display of great courage by said CEOs. What courage? I can just imagine how much a corporation saves on its healthcare bill every time it doesn’t have to pay the costs of a pregnancy, birth and maternity leave. I’m surprised the larger enterprises hadn’t set up abortion clinics on site.
