Well this week we finally get a break from that double-inner planet retrograde nonsense that’s been haunting us and we should see a rather abrupt change of luck later in the week. The first lucky day is going to be on the 9th, when Mercury returns to its regularly scheduled orbital motion. That’s followed the next day by a confrontation with an unpleasant person, but even that doesn’t last long. The most intriguing thing is that there will be a conjunction of the aforementioned Mercury and Venus retrograde with Saturn on the day Venus goes station direct. This indicates a fortunate breakup of a marriage or relationship. Maybe Harry ditches Meghan?
Aries: King of Cups reversed – Dishonest, double-dealing man; roguery, exaction, injustice, vice, scandal, pillage, considerable loss.
Taurus: The Empress – Fruitfulness, action, initiative, length of days; the unknown, clandestine, difficulty, doubt, ignorance.
Gemini: 7 of Swords – Design, attempt, wish, hope, confidence, quarrelling, a plan that may fail, annoyance.
Cancer: 8 of Cups reversed – Great joy, happiness, feasting.
Leo: Death – End, mortality, destruction, corruption.
Virgo: 7 of Coins reversed – Cause for anxiety regarding money especially investments.
Libra: The Devil reversed – Evil, fatality, weakness, pettiness, blindness.
Scorpio: 10 of Coins – Gain, riches; family matters, archives, extraction.
Sagittarius: Temperance reversed – Disunion, unfortunate combinations, competing interests.
Capricorn: 5 of Coins – Material troubles, destitution, also of love and lovers-wife, husband, friend, mistress.
Aquarius: 2 of Wands reversed – Surprise, wonder, enchantment, emotion, trouble, fear.
Pisces: 8 of Swords – Bad news, violent chagrin, crisis, censure, power in trammels, conflict, calumny, sickness.
How about some wholesome, if a bit trashy entertainment?
oh good
Have a rotten day!
Pisces: 8 of Swords – Bad news, violent chagrin, crisis, censure, power in trammels, conflict, calumny, sickness.
Looks pretty rotten to me.
Sagittarius: Temperance reversed – Disunion, unfortunate combinations, competing interests.
Peanut butter and sauerkraut sandwiches.
The competing interests being humor and digestion?
Great joy, happiness, feasting…
My wife is back in NJ next week so my son and I thinking of doing this:
https://www.southernrootsreunion.com/
Maybe Harry ditches Meghan?
He seems more likely to be the ditch-ee than the ditch-er.
Harry’s a cache cow, no way she ditches him.
I remember the joke from when Martina Navratilova defected to the US, she asked the customs agents, “Do you cache Czechs?”
“ Cancer: 8 of Cups reversed – Great joy, happiness, feasting.”
Giggity!
Can’t argue with great joy and happiness. I should pick up an extra steak tonight…
So, a chef’s salad of possibility!
That’s what I was thinking! The fruitful action part I’ve got down, but also brewing doubt (of future trajectory) and I’m ignorant of… well. A lot.
Dishonest, double-dealing man; roguery, exaction, injustice, vice, scandal, pillage, considerable loss.
So I’ll finally meet Donald Trump?
Close. Bernie Sanders.
I only say that because that grifter is going to show up here in my town on the 14th. Barf.
SugarFreeville?
I read it first as ‘ejaculation,’ and combined with the others, sounded like the Leftists’ TrumpHitler coming to life as a sexual predator.
Positive? Well, at least he chose *you.* Even as prey, it must be nice to be taken down a powerful, or infamous, perpetrator. (I’d *MUCH* rather be eaten by a lion than by mice and bugs. The *death* part of the lion-bit would be horrific, but the long years of drifting away, unnoticed, to be eaten by cockroaches … uh… After an active life, I’ll take the Monstrous Minute over months /years of living in active decay before ‘softly’ snuffing. (See also: Gene Hackman.))
Scorpio: 10 of Coins – Gain, riches; family matters, archives, extraction
Gonna go pick up some lotto tickets.
Question for the shooter Glibs.
My son has used police Glock 22. Shoots fine but the sights are off.
– Gunsmith?
– New sights? Or,
– Sell it?
If the only problem is the sights, get the sights adjusted. See if you can tweak those you have now before going so far as replacing them.
Red Dot or what UCS and Zwak said
How are the sights mounted? Dovetail? If so, adjust them. Also, have someone else check it out, make sure it isn’t a user error.
Still good night sights? I’m assuming it’s a left/right POI issue. Just drift the rear to adjust.
Where are the hits going? Without knowing anything about your son and his shooting experience and ability, I’ll give even odds that it’s him versus his gun.
High left.
I sent him to a professional instructor – he fixes his grip and has him shooting good groups, at which point the Glock was obviously off.
You can try adjusting the sights, but high left hits are often caused by inadequate support hand pressure. On a .40 Glock, that’s an easy thing to do.
New sights?
I know nothing about Glocks, but if he puts new sights on it he might consider a nice bright fiber optic front sight.
Politicization of everything
A raft of major stores are participating in a ‘shopping blackout’ on Easter Sunday – as Target confirms it will shut 1,978 closures for 24 hours.
More than a dozen big-name brands have said they will close their doors on April 20 so staff can spend time with their loved ones. These include major chains such as Aldi, Costco, Khol’s, Macy’s, and JCPenney, although customers are advised to check with their local store about its specific operating hours over this period.
——-
April 20 is not a federal public holiday, but several stores have said they are keen to give their employees the day off.
However, others have said they will remain open, giving them a chance to scoop up sales from shoppers who have left their purchases to the last minute. These include CVS, Dollar General, Whole Foods, Home Depot, Trader Joe’s and Walgreens.
Is this brave and special, or a bunch of mouthbreathing Jesus freaks trying to force their crazy beliefs on society? Someone tell me what to think.
It is also the day Trump is supposed to announce martial law. I larfed.
If an employee worked a scheduled holiday I always gave them 2 days off at their convenience. It seemed to work out well and there was not shortage of volunteers, especially among those single folks.
That’s remarkably fucking stupid. That’s all there is to think.
This accomplishes what in the where, now? Trump won in a landslide, like it or not, World. Businesses, why would you purposefully announce this? Uh. A Boardroom idea and pitch it as a day off for all employees? Sure, I s’pose. But nationwide, you’re pissing off ~30% of your own labor force. What good comes from this, if you’re not CVS+?
Was talking to Mom about the Tesla arsonists. Just petty, petulant fucking children, the Left. “I hate you so much I’m gonna close my business for a day! SO THERE!” … Uh. That’s special.
Introducing politics into the workplace? Just add sex and money to the mix so we can bring up *everything!* (Go to Church later to repent your sins.) I wonder about whorehouse etiquette for mentioning politics in … indecent society. Certainly to customers, never initiate political discourse. Whatever’s said during intercourse, of course, would be highly encouraged. Far too much $ in potential info on the table.
The old ‘Don’t mention sex, politics or religion in mixed company’ line is a good one to follow, IMO, so I do. If someone else initiates it, sure. (Unless I’m with my family.) But now the Left feverishly inserts sex and politics into all topics. Religion has taken a far-backseat to the other never-say-’ems.
Well, politics has *become* religious for many /most Americans and Westerners. For even the unengaged, politics is still a Team sport, even if they don’t know ‘why’ they root for their banner. Several terms for such people. (‘Happy’ would be one for many wealthy-enough people. Envious, I kinda am.
The article calls it a blackout, I didn’t see anything in the article that indicates the companies are doing it as a protest. It reads to me like retailers closing for the holiday, and MSN making it sound political
What jarflax said.
Nbd. I think it’s good to see holidays observed.
“Nbd. I think it’s good to see holidays observed.”
So are you giving your employees Juneteenth off?
Agreed. It’s olde timey for sure.
Remember when everything was closed on Sundays? 😱
I’m pretty sure Costco closes on Easter Sunday every year.
Aldi too.
I’ve noticed this in the last year or two. Never used to see business closures on Easter Sunday. Or Good Friday.
4/20? Really? Come on, dudes…
No. Stop that.
Hmm? Stop what?
You know who else celebrated April 20th?
Another possibility- those sleazy penny pinching oligarchs just want to get out of paying holiday wages to the people who need them most.
– Capricorn: 5 of Coins – “Material troubles, destitution, also of love and lovers-wife, husband, friend, mistress.”
Oh boy.
Gunslinger gets caught sliding around with his side-piece, hilarity ensues.

He died of colorectal cancer, aged 73. IANAD, but that sounds exceptionally nasty. I hope it was as palliative as possible.
He certainly had an interesting life. Dad is 75. I wonder if he’ll bring it up. I remember Christopher Lloyd as the villain in the 90s flick. I recall him being exceptionally PG-creepy. He’s damn good at his job.
Found out a little while ago that the across-the-street neighbor who was removed by ambulance yesterday died of a heart attack. 🙁 I don’t know his widow very well. What is a good neighbor to do in these circumstances if one doesn’t really know how to make a casserole? In fact it occurs to me that the traditional casserole bombardment may be an inconvenience to the deceased’s family – your refrigerator is crammed full, and then you have to return all the dishes to their rightful owners.
Hoping some of our other neighbors have some ideas, but would a DoorDash gift card seem VERY crass? 😕
Depending on how much time you have and/or inclination, offer to do a grocery run?
Or give her a gift certificate to the grocery store?
I’ll consider that. The rationale for the casseroles is so the family doesn’t have to cook while in the midst of dealing with the death and everything that goes with it, but groceries now have plenty of ready-to-eat and easily-prepared choices.
One does not need to know how to make a casserole, but one does need to know where to buy a casserole. And a condolence card.
Baked ziti ain’t hard.
Offer to watch the house during the funeral. Some thieves have been known to read the obits and then break into houses when the family is off at the funeral.
Good idea! All the folks in this six-house group (ours, theirs, and the folks on either side of each of us) have been pretty good about looking out for each other, so if I’m not available to watch the house, I’m sure someone can do so.
THIS. This is FAR more valuable than a casserole.
As to casseroles and returnable dishes, you get disposable aluminum (with baking instructions taped to the top) or microwave-safe casserole pans (that you’ve already baked the casserole in) or get a pack of prep dishes and portion it out yourself. IF you feel the need to send food, make it as easy as possible for them to eat it.
Funeral Chickin
Bring her flowers, and ask what she needs.
💐🙂👍
Does she have family nearby? It’s possible that every family is not dysfunctional and her family will handle her needs.
Two grown kids (in their 20s?) who don’t live far away, as far as I know. Don’t know about extended family.
Gift card for yard work, car wash or maybe even just gas. Something other than food IMO. Something she won’t have to worry about in normal day life while she collects her thoughts and life pieces.
I like that idea! I might lean toward the car wash card – knowing the other neighbor guys, I suspect they’ll just ride their riding mowers over to her house and take care of at least the grass cutting. (They do that for us since TT’s had some health issues and we don’t have a riding mower.)
To give you an idea what this end of the street is like – several of the guys (including TT) “compete” on trash day to see who can bring all the other guys’ trash cans and recycle bins back up to the owners’ houses after the trucks have been by.
Oldest in Cali laments the lack of neighbors or rather, neighbors who can’t even say hi. I told him its different out here and your description meets our description of people helping others when needed.
16th Carry Optics this Saturday, at Fredericksburg USPSA. On a positive note, my raw time would have put me 8th, and was within grabbing distance of the podium. This isn’t how my scores usually run – I’m usually pretty accurate, but 30-40 seconds behind the top shooters. Early in the season to say, but it feels like going back to fundamentals in my grip and vision has been of some benefit.
I spent about two hours and 500 rounds at the range this afternoon, shooting mostly vision drills – Accelerator, Distance Changeup, and wide transitions. Good day overall.
Now for gas/groceries/chores.
UFL isnt bad, but it aint the same.

Yowza
That’s awful how these adults treated a child.
With marriages that come and go there are a lot of kids , not physically mistreated but emotionally starved. We do our best. Tina Louise was mentioned in a news article and talked of her difficulties.
Weird? sure, Sad? meh, Tragic? nope. Something about a 64 years old man whinging about how his “Daddy” didn’t love him is off putting. Also, he wants an apology from the hospital? as if its a living thing with capacity for culpability. All the people involved in the fuck up are probably dead, at best they are in adult diapers having creepy nursing home sex with other octogenarians (apologies to Fourscore) what the hell does the current hospital staff/administration have to apologize for?
The mere act of just living isn’t good enough now. People have had terrible livelihoods, upbringings, and absolute tragic happenings for eons, but in today’s world, we get to air that all out and be praised, validated and even called heroes for mentioning it.
I’d have written a book and capitalized on it that way, because it’s a little more immortal than a lawsuit, but whatever.
Futures look a little bumpy for Wall Street’s opening tomorrow.
I’m waiting for the promise Trump made to us, that we’ll have so much money we won’t know what to do. He’s probably right, a loaf of bread will cost a wheelbarrow full.
Long term bonds equal low interest on borrowing, lets see
I inflation proofed my bread prices as I had a good stock of flour, eggs and water on hand.
My gold is down 100$ today, so much for my bread,
As long as your labor is worth almost nothing you should be a-ok.
Metals are my only asset
Don’t undersell your frisbee skills.
Also, metals are roaring back.
Something on X just tickled me pink.
This is the original tweet. 🙄
This made me legit LOL.
I’m not sure to be worried about the lack of understanding on physics or the pure nannyism of the tweet.
The “gate to women’s country” tweet killed me.
And I say that even though I owe my publishing career to that book and author.
That synopsis is quite the downer.
Though I am curious as to how it played into you getting into publishing.
Well, when I was writing for publication, I had to water down religion, but it was ALSO part of the plot. So I wasn’t happy I couldn’t explain the characters’ motives completely, but nobody was going to buy a book with blatant religion, which religion, and all its quirks and warts.
Anyway, some years after I gave up, a friend rec’d Gate to me, and I was super into the story even though I knew it was pure radecofem propaganda.
And I thought, “Wait a minute.”
1) Her radecofem propaganda got published by someone other than herself in the 1980s.
2) She wasn’t afraid to lay it all out there and go for it.
3) I KNEW it was propaganda and I didn’t agree with one fuckong premise, but I enjoyed the story and I felt intellectually enriched by having read it.
I sat with that for many more years and then there was my husband exhorting me to publish myself. He quoted Rand at me. “The question isn’t ‘Who’s going to let me?’ The question is ‘Who’s going to stop me?'”
Then I realized Rand laid all her propaganda out too, and I was far more in sympathy with her than Tepper.
Tepper got my wheels turning on trusting readers and writing a good story in spite of your blatant propaganda.
She “gave me permission” to lay it all out there, the story I wanted to tell and trust readers to agree or not and enjoy or not. And Rand backed her up.
So I did. And I’m so very glad none of my watered-down pussy-ass stories never got published by someone else.
I try and live these words, particularly at work.
I’m hanging out with my cousin in Vegas this week. I guess it’s time to start studying the blackjack strategy chart.
You can literally buy the odds card and plop it down next to you on the table. They don’t give a shit.
My sense of humor is warped.
I had that chick recommended to me in youtube shorts.
Has anyone read or started reading “Provoked” by Scott Horton?
Today I finished the section about Kosovo, just for a chronological reference of where I am. What I’m taking away so far is: The US has worked really fucking hard to make sure that post-Soviet Russia goes back to being an isolated, impoverished backwater in middle-of-nowhere Asia.
No part of this constitutes a justification or apology for what Putin’s government has done, but it denies the narrative of the American foreign policy establishment that this was just a random act of Russian cruelty. Hard to imagine any other nation doing things differently given the circumstances.
I haven’t, but RIP Sir Mike. A better man and soldier than Wesley Clark.
The US just took the standard British Empire modus opperandi of divide, conquer, and loot and turned it up to 11. Disgusting behavior with predictable and desired results.
It’s ‘Friday’ on my workweek! I’m pleased it’s (generally(?)) happily chill. Good way to end the week.
Dad just called me out and chastised about making a joke about a story where a man was recently killed. “Did he deserve it?” was my quip and that set him off. I handled it quite well and responded with meaning. Mom is/was on my side the whole way.
I’m glad I went to the Indy Fuel (Minor League team for Chicago Blackhawks) v Fort Wayne Komets (Edmonton Oilers). I wisely left with two minutes to go after Indy came back to tie it. (‘We’ won in OT.) Wanted to ensure I got out on time. Did manage to get home by 10pm or so. I was close to the boards, with some hard checks coming right near me. They sold out, 6100 folk out. (Damn good for a minor league hockey game.)
I gotta work on my Tight-Five comedy. I’ve got ’em written, but not organized, rehearsed and edited. Legit goal of mine. I rarely have any, but that may be my ‘purpose.’
With my weekend on Tues-Wed, I’ll finish and art-up another submission ’round then.
Many fantastic moments with Mini-Me Nephew, 4, this weekend. I taught him how to spin coins and was shocked that neither parent ‘knew’ how to do it. Uh. Huh? That’s shit you learn in pre-school. May have to test the ‘rents. They were astonished when neph pulled it off, a perfect time to express my shock to my ‘rents that *they* thought spinning a coin was somehow “impressive.”
Hope all kick ass today. I feel today will again be uneventful, benefiting all. We will ignore the bizarre fuck-up that was the Cubs v Padres. Well. Whatever. We took 2/3 from them convincingly. (Shoulda swept, but it’s only April.)
Real, or staged?
Was that her husband?
That’s not very Christian of you. :-p
Blah, blah, blah.

Good morning, Sean, Ted’S., Efe, and Roat, and good afternoon, Pie!
Morning. How goes?
Cold! 🥶 It’s only 33 degrees here. Might be even colder tomorrow. Going to have to bundle up plenty for the first Dragons home game of the season tomorrow evening. ⚾🧢🐲 How are you?
Annoyed. I went to bed early, but couldn’t fall asleep until late, so I ended up choosing to doze for 40 minutes after my alarm (which I recall turning off and asking myself whether I could get up then)
On the plus side, the pepper plant is getting taller.
You go, pepper! 🌱😃👍
I just looked outside now that it’s light enough to see. There’s snow on the ground. 😒❄❄❄

They should check out how that worked in DC.
Policies that are based on a stupid cartoon of people standing on boxes trying to freeload on a game are stupid and the resentment…ah, the resentment.
I like the one where they fix the fence so the freeloaders can’t watch anymore.
How dare someone charge for entertainment.
That’s not insulting and racist at all.
I would not be surprised if one day an angry mob stormed the legislature and decapitated them all.
I would also not be surprised if people just continued to flee the state instead.
